Today in the Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars, Nana Visitor guest stars in "Hellfire," episode 8 of the first season of MacGyver (original air date November 27, 1985). Visitor plays the wife of Mac's old friend Bill; the pair is trying to make their fortune as wildcatters. Mac helps them put out the blaze when their oil well catches fire, then promises to stay and help them rebuild at the end of the episode.

Halloweenathon The Funhouse

Another Tobe Hooper film and it might be the most Tobbe Hooperist film I have ever seen

in this 1981 film Amy (Elizabeth Berridge ),Buzz (Cooper Huckabee),Liz(Largo Woodruff), and Richie(Miles Chapin) are four teens on a double date who visit the carnival and decide to spend a night at the funhouse only to witness a murder and be pursued by the carnival barker Conrad (Kevin Conway ) and his mutated son Gunther (Wayne Doba)

So I really enjoyed this movie ,and while not my favorite Hooper film,I think this is the one I would reccomend if one wanted to know what Hoopers style is ,in that it is bonkers

I like the weird vibe of the first half just wandering around the carnival seeing weird things and characracters (Including a cameo by the Phantom of the Paradise himself William Finley as the magecian ).Kevin COnway is fun playing not only the villainous Conrad who is used to covering up his sons murders as well as playing two other barkers .The 4 main characters are all good,just some teens looking for a good time,they arent super memorable but they are solid

Now this isnt a slasher it is actually more of a monster movie ,with a memorable villain in the mutated Gunther ,whose design was created by the great Rick Baker ,though he spends most of the movie in a FRankenstein monster costume (Theres are actually a few Frankenstein refrences in the film which seems to be more of judt homage on Tobe Hoopers part cause the film was done by universal and he liked Frankenstein )

SO far this might be my fave film I have seen of the month

Scream Factory has revealed the specs for its The Funhouse Collector’s Edition 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray. Originally due out last month, the 1981 slasher will now release on September 6.

Also known as Carnival of Terror, Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Poltergeist) directs from a script by Lawrence J. Block. Elizabeth Berridge, Kevin Conway, William Finley, Cooper Huckabee, Miles Chapin, Largo Woodruff, Wayne Doba, and Sylvia Miles star.

Talk about a really bad vile gross movie 1987’s The Curse stars : Will Wheaton, Claude Atkins, Cooper Huckabee, and John Schneider. A meteor crashes near a farm of mean bible thumping stepfather ( Atkins) of a boy ( Wheaton) who is constantly being bullied by his stepbrother who is a real jerk . Well the meteorite contaminates the water and poisons the the crops . And there are gross out scenes and gooey gross things happening to the family , except the boy ( Wheaton ) and his little sister .the mother is the first that gets infected and goes mad and gets deformed as well. As does the stepfather and the stepbrother .

And this year, with the nationwide worker shortage so severe, the category is taking on increased importance in our methodology.We consider multiple quality of life factors, including crime rates, environmental quality, and health care. We also look at the quality and availability of childcare, which is one of the most important factors in getting parents back into the workforce.Casting the widest possible net for workers means not turning anyone away. So we consider inclusiveness in state laws by measuring protections against discrimination, as well as voting rights. And with surveys showing a substantial percentage of women considering abortion restrictions when making a choice of where to live in the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, reproductive rights are part of this year's equation as well.As North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, a Democrat, told CNBC after being named the No. 1 State for 2023, he is worried about gains that southern states have made to become economic powerhouses in recent decades. "You still see people going to Florida and Texas, but you begin to see deterioration over time. Site selectors will tell you these issues matter when it comes time for businesses to make tough decisions."Some states are putting out the welcome mat to attract the biggest, happiest, and most diverse workforce — America's Best States to Live and Work In.
