Anson Mount and Ethan Peck at FAN EXPO Canada

Some pictures and Twitter reactions of Anson and Ethan's panel today (called "We've Established Contact with Ethan Peck and Anson Mount") at the FAN EXPO convention in Toronto, Canada, August 26 2023.

Strange New Pod posted a clip of the huge waiting line for the panel, writing: "This is the line to see Anson Mount and Ethan Peck. People have been lined up for over an HOUR for this panel and it still doesn’t start for another 45 minutes."

Another fan pointed out: "The longest line at FAN EXPO CANADA I've seen has been for the Anson Mount and Ethan Peck panel. It's wrapping around three hallways. The fact that it's not in a bigger hall here is ridiculous. This video by Strange New Pod was taken 10 min after the line started."

Anson and Ethan were also signing autographs and doing photo ops with fans; more photo ops are tomorrow!

People, and by people I primarily mean lawmakers and the middle to upper classes, treat unhoused people like some mysterious class of poor person, with unknowable needs.

It's in the name pal- unhoused

They don't understand that substance use, psychosis, risk of sexual or physical violence, that these things are the results of homelessness, and only rarely the primary cause.

The primary cause, as always, is two types of poverty: economic and social

If I am economically poor but socially privileged, I have no worries. I know a lot of rich kids like this, who get money from their parents and relatives without being expected to earn any on their own.

If I am economically privileged and socially poor, again, I'm usually fine. Not having friends or relatives to rely on for resources is fine if i have my own.

But if I'm at that intersection of both economic and social disenfranchisement, with no resources and no one to rely on, in an economic and social order that essentially forbids upward mobility for all but the chosen few, and then yeah I catch a bad beat for a couple years, I'm gonna end up on the street.

It's not hard to understand, socio economically, the factors at play.

What is difficult to understand, is why lawmakers hate poor people so much that they'd rather watch us die and slide into poverty, which is many times a death sentence.

I know I'm naive, in that I care about people, but it's more than that. I've watched over 40 of my clients personally die in the war on poverty, and many more from my childhood, my adolescence. I'm fucking sick of it.

Free housing. Case management. Medical and behavioral health care. Transitional housing. Peer based counseling. Tiny home villages. Well managed camps. These are the research based approaches that we know work. Its not some mystery.

@faithfromanewperspective sorry for replying to this in a new post the op blocked me lol 🥴 (which?? idc if you block me but it's weird given the situation like all I did was add other easily provable facts. I'm all for holding Taylor accountable for her actions but misinformation/misconstruing a narrative is equally not helpful) the post had weird vibes too like "Taylor is the Empress" thing. she is quite powerful but even she is still constricted by her contracts with the venues?? idk idk. anyway yeah laws definitely need to change surrounding concerts & events (like the very widespread "no water" rules) especially with climate change but even then. it's water.

#like the timing was definitely not great but it's not only a Brazil problem either #she's coming to Canada this time next year and we have the opposite problem like it can get COLD in November #and some of her next dates are in Australia! also in summer! #it's poor planning all around and it could have happened anywhere #hopefully something does change from this because no one else should have to die a preventable death </3 #I can't really talk about Taylor's actions afterwards because I haven't kept as up to date on them but I do have my criticisms #like she really should have helped the family more financially (including transporting Ana's body home) #but idk if there were other factors preventing her or what #bella talks

one small thing that bugs me about disco elysium is the lack of Fantasy Jews. i mean every setting that creates analogues of real world cultures tends to forget about us (i am generously overlooking when they make us into goblins or some shit). but still, idk, it'd be cool, and for the setting you'd figure we'd factor in a little. idk though, i know a decent amount about the history of jews in american socialism but little about our role in european communism especially outside of the ussr. there were certainly jewish communist movements within the ussr but most of us would've been gone long before the fall of the soviet union ig.

#i suppose im mostly interested in it bc my family was around in roughly that time period in western europe #ukraine and romania primarily (moved around very often) #and per my mom my ulta ULTA zeyde was a massive trotskyist #and i belieeeeeeve he was first in our family to come to canada (and then the us) #so if i haven't totally fucked the timeline he was around maybe... a couple decades before de is mostly set #i mean its an anachronistic setting and i am also talking out my ass here but #most of my family stayed behind ( greatgreatgrandpa left to dodge the draft <3) #which is a whole historical thing abt the russian army initially refusing to admit jewish soldiers and then switching it #essentially to use us as cannon fodder for a losing war #but i don't remember the exact timeline there so #that may have not been when we came to the us but when we left russia for bordering countries #anyway regardless. would be cool to have jews is all #particularly bc the game tackles fascism head on but then ignores one of the biggest factors in esp european facism #honestly we could be somewhere in measureheads ramblings and i just didn't make the connection
