Gears & Analysis - Laser Manson [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
Tumblr media
Laser Manson Light artwork with crushed mirror top and laser emitter.
This instrument, with a deliberately split plastic mirror on the body top, was introduced for the recording of ‘Absolution’ and was used on stage until around 2007. The basic specs are similar to the ‘Delorean’, with a mahogany body, bird's eye maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The sides and back are covered with aluminium plates as on the ‘Delorean’. Pickups are a Rio Grande ‘Bastard’ (front) + ‘Crunchbox’ (but later each were replaced by a Bear Knuckle ‘P-90’ type single coil ‘Mississippi Queen’ + high-gain humbucker ‘Nailbomb’). The same as the ‘Delorean’ with Roland GK-2A, piezo pickup in the bridge, ‘Fuzz Factory’ and ‘Phase 90’ circuits. The main feature that makes this guitar original and different from other Manson guitars is the built-in red laser light emitters all over the body. This is where the name ‘Laser Manson’ (or ‘The Laser’) comes from. The idea of firing this laser beam seems like something Matthew would like, but in fact it seems to have been Mr Manson's idea, not Matthew's. According to Manson, he heard that the band was going to perform at the Reading Festival and came up with the idea as a device to enhance the band's stage presence there. Incidentally, each laser emitter is connected to a microprocessor built into the main unit, which changes the amount of light emitted according to the band's performance. Three 9V batteries are used to emit light. However, the lasers only work well when the stage is smoked or dark, and the guitar is said to be quite heavy.
Controls Laser emitters are located in several places on the body and head, including two on the pickguard, and emit a red laser when switched on. The red laser emits a red light when switched on, which, combined with the reflection of the mirrored plastic on the top, gives the guitar an outstanding stage presence. The unit also has a number of controls, including the built-in effectors (‘Fuzz Factory’ and ‘Phase 90’), each of which is assigned the same functionality as the ‘Delorean'.
Back View The body back is not mirrored but, like the Delorean, is made of laminated aluminium sheet over wood. The beautiful bird's eye neck with a faint tiger's eye can also be seen. There are several small holes in the middle of the body, probably for assigning a trimmer to adjust the output of the laser beam.
Translator's Notes: Again, a typo error from the editors of STYLE.

Here's the thing with Chris, I do think he still has a chance to move away from popcorn flicks and get a meaty role but he has to make moves to show that he wants it. I would use Matthew McConaughey as an example. He had some interesting and different roles in the 90s, and then in 2000s it seemed like all he was making were romcoms. Then in the 2010s he practically changed his career trajectory. He gets a cameo in WOWS, gets a Oscar winning role in DBC, gets Interstellar with Christopher Nolan, and does a limited series with TD. He pretty much changed the formula of his career.
Chris did that for two movies post marvel, but ended up back on the big budget/popcorn movies again. It might be because of Covid or it might because he's scared or both. His role in KO was good but it's not like anyone actually remembers his acting all everyone talked about was his sweater, which at the time was a good marketing tool, but for an actor to only be noticed because of the clothes he is wearing has to be disappointing. And DJ was mediocre, it was a pretty basic story, nothing outstanding especially compared to other limited series we have seen over the years. He was good as Andy, like I think any capable actor could have done the same job. But he hasn't shown he wants those challenging roles, other than putting all his eggs in one basket with the GK movie which seems like a huge risk for studios. Who knows maybe PH will be that role for him, especially if he has enough screen time. Btw, is PH giving anyone else WOWS vibes, the getting rich schemes, parties, the corruption, etc?
Let's take a step back in time to 2018. I only want to look at career choices in this, I won't share what I think of the relative merits of performance in the projects.
So, 2018. I think we have to look at there was some kind of "plan" being put into action to stretch out as a actor, or how he was seen as an actor. He already had the safety of the last two Avengers movies baked into 2018 and 2019. He knew he was going to have huge viewership and huge paychecks those years. So, a chance to do something different. Off to Broadway it was, and Lobby Hero. (Just to show how very planned this was - his casting in Lobby Hero was announced April 20, 2017, almost a year in advance of it opening.)
Then, after stretching by challenging himself in returning to the stage, he purposefully goes after the Knives Out role which filmed in 2018, something very unlike his Marvel role.
So, we see some kind of thought going on in 2018 to redefine how he's seen as an actor, what he's being offered and taking. We cap this with the announcement of his Defending Jacob casting in September 2018 (while Knives Out is filming).
There was definitely some kind of different plan going on between 2018-2019 that was scuttled by Covid. Definitely.
And, to me, a lot of the decisions after Covid look like a blend of fear and restricted offerings. 2018 now looks like a lost horizon.

Hi Lilac!!
I know you’ve said stuff about being able to ask abt your stance on God and religion before and I hope that’s still okay (if this is smth you don’t want to answer, I take absolutely no offense to that and don’t want you to do anything that makes you uncomfortable). I’ve recently been not in church and I think it’s kind of been for the better? (My church has become a mega church over the years and I’m really not about that, and also I grew up in youth group which I think had its own issues). Anyway, I’m glad for the separation, but I feel like I kind of don’t know what to do with my faith outside of the church setting? I was wondering what you do to practice religion without attending church or like, how you maintain that connection with your faith
Oh yeah! I took that out of my bio bc I have been off and on been having a really hard time and my religious trauma has been flaring up but I'm still active on @in-the-whisper occasionally. No worries about asking though, if I am too tired it will just dissolve into my ask box ;--; I do really like to talk about it though and this is something I've dealt with a lot!
I mean if you can find a church or a bible study that you feel safe in that's really ideal imo, but I have really bad religious trauma and haven't consistently attended church in.. like ~5 years. Which really upsets me but I'm just not in a position to attend right now w my mental health condition. But also I think not going to church is sometimes valuable. People are scared to say that but if going to church is actively harming you, or it is something that is obviously not bringing you closer to God, then yeah don't go and don't feel like a bad Christian for it. Rest :) it will be okay. That used to be really hard for me but I've mostly come to terms with it, idk it's still hard. But it's been healthier for me.
I kind of see God in everything. Sitting with my lneighbors cats by a pool, and watching the sunset, and talking to my friends are all expressions of the love of God. I've been having a hard time with God recently and go back and forth on how much I can handle but I used to have a really good habit of just saying a quiet thank you in my head whenever something like that happens and I think keeping an open line of prayer communication can be really healthy
I've found reading fantasy novels to bring me closer to God. A lot of fantasy has moral values that can help me at least start thinking about God if nothing else, they often make me remember why I believe in God in the first place. Namely that life is sacred and valuable and people are worth loving. Those are ideas that are represented in a lot of fantasy and that helps me think of God and pray.
This is going to sound weird but I have to be really careful with the Bible and praise and worship music bc both can be really heavy and bring up upsetting memories for me. If you can, I do recommend reading the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) and focus on Jesus' words because he is the clearest representation of God's character since he's like literally God. But the Bible is difficult to read by yourself and disconnected from the greater body of Christian literature that's built up over the centuries it can be hard to interpret. I have to save reading the Bible for times when I have the energy to dig in and research and ask hard questions. Psalms is easier bc it's poetry so you could probably also start there
I try to meet with friends and talk to them about God, if you have Christian friends or family you could have bible study with them, or just a time to visit and think about God.
I like Christian philosophy. Two of my favorites are GK Chesterton "Orthodoxy" and CS Lewis "Mere Christianity". Orthodoxy is kinda dense but Mere Christianity I find interesting and it just helps me think about God. I also sometimes like doing planned Bible studies but some are better than others. I did "Armor of God" by Priscilla Shrier a few years ago, I don't remember everything about it and I probably didn't entirely agree but I found it generally pretty good.
I listen to music about God that isn't praise and worship. I've been listening to a lot of half alive, my favorite is Creature which makes me feel like a believer. Here's a post with some song suggestions and a link to a playlist my sister and I made together. (x)
I think one danger of not having a church is a gap in theology, so if you have time or energy you can listen to podcasts on the Bible, church history, Biblical interpretation. If that's something you're interested in I can link to one I like, but I'll have to go find it (you can dm me about it ofc). The other danger is losing contact with Christians in general, so making sure you have Christians checking in on you or people to talk to is a good idea.
Lmk if that helps or if you have more questions, and I keep a list of my posts on my other blog so that might have some helpful resources too :)

Sincerity and truth.
“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward." Matthew 6:1-2
These teachings from the Master are given during the Sermon on the Mount [Matthew 5-7], where Jesus gives wise counsel, blessings, warnings and rebuke.
This verse introduces the word hypocrite to the Greek New Testament, and was the first time Jesus uses the word. It represented the beginning of his policy of using the word hypocrite when referring to the Pharisees, and it was almost an alias he used to refer to them. Whenever the word hypocrite occurs in the gospel, it is almost always referring directly to Pharisees, or a characteristic trait they exhibit. Even in these verse aforementioned, Jesus does not explicitly mention them by name, but he mentions synagogues and streets, which indirectly refers to Pharisees who 'ruled the synagogues' [Luke 13:14; Acts 18:8] and since Sadduccess were rarely mentioned as being on the streets it also was referring to Pharisees, who to their credit were always on the streets among the people (poor man's priest).
A hypocrite [Gk. ὑποκριταὶ (hypokritai) - one who answers, an actor, a hypocrite] The word hypokritai literally refers to a performer acting under a mask or an assumed character in a Greek theater.(i.e. a theater-actor). The word alludes to a two-faced person, whose profession does not match their practice, or someone who "says one thing but does another.", or someone who hides their real ‘face’, feelings or intentions, or hides the true facts.
We know that "there is no new thing under the sun"[Ecclesiastes 1:9] and the concept of a hypocrite has always existed, and therefore can be found in the Hebrew old testament. During Elihu discourse with Job and his three ‘friends’, he mentions "But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he bindeth them." Job 36:13
The Hebrew word translated as 'hypocrites' [Hb.וְֽחַנְפֵי־ (wə·ḥan·p̄ê-) - godless, impious {hypocrite}] has the connotation, based on the root word from which it is derived, of someone who is corrupted or soiled with sin. The Septiugint{viz ancient greek translation of the old testament ~300 BC}, Wycliffe translation{1382}, Luther translation{1545}, Coverdale{1585} Geneva Bible{1599}, King James{1611} and other older translations used the word 'hypocrite' or 'feigners and false men' (Wycliffe) instead of simply 'godless', because they realized that the person described is feigning being righteous based on the context the word is used.
There are two extreme classes of righteousness: the righteous person who is sincerely seeking to fear YAH and do what is right 'from the heart', and there are those who have no knowledge nor regard and respect for YAH and His commands and expectations. In this context the 'godless in heart' presents a separate class of people who appear to be righteous on the outside but on the inside are godless, and thus are play acting and putting up a facade. Even further, Elihu goes on to say that when the wə·ḥan·p̄ê- are rebuked and chastened by God; they don't cry out, because they can't break character as they have to maintain the facade of being righteous for others to see.
Jesus also alludes to the hypocrites sounding a trumpet before them in the synagogues and in the streets. This can be considered literal or figurative or a symbolic metaphor for making a public show of their charitable deeds. It is very unlikely that the hypocrites have a person blow a trumpet wherever the hypocrites go to announce their charitable deeds, but it is likely that they enjoyed putting lots of money in the synagogue collection pan, which was a trumpet shaped metal container, that made a loud clanging noise the more coins are thrown into it; to the delight of the hypocrites. This was not the case with the poor widow with her two little copper coins (2 mites) [Mark 12:38-44]. Everyone would hear the clanging noise of the rich, who for a show threw in lots of money, but hardly anyone would hear the sincere whisper of the widow’s little offering; but Jesus didn't hear the noise of the proud, but he definitely heard her little prayer loud and clear, and rewarded her accordingly; with her story recorded as a testament to her faith and offering.
The sounding of the trumpet can also be viewed as a figurative not 'blowing of our own trumpet' when we do our charitable deeds. Jesus warns that those who seek to draw attention to themselves and praise from onlookers have already received what they desired, and will receive nothing more. The goal is to be seen and validated and derive our value and self worth by God and not to be seen and validated nor derive our self worth from other people. Jesus lovingly advises that “when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly." - Matthew 6:3-4

Comparisons are Odious! Reflections on a parable by J Paul Lennon, MA, STL (Matthew 20,1-16) from J.Paul Lennon on Vimeo.
I used to attribute this saying to GK Chesterton but... Human wisdom know to man from earliest times... The story of the discontented labores in the vineyard; Let is try not compare ourselves to others; this can lead to discontent, envy, rancor, anger, even violence. Accepting ourselves and our lot leads to quiet, contentedness, peace, and even happiness

The Gospels are Nonhistorical Theological Documents: Only the Epistles Give Us the Real Jesus
By Bible Researcher Eli Kittim 🎓
The Theological Gospels Versus the Prophetic Epistles
First, the epistles are the more explicit and didactic portions of the New Testament.
Second, they are expositional writings, giving us facts, not theological narratives with plots, subplots, characters, etc. The gospels are more like broadway plays (theatrical productions) whereas the epistles are more like matter-of-fact newspapers.
Third, the epistles are not only devoid of all the legendary elements of the gospels, but they also apparently contradict the gospels with regard to Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, by placing them in eschatological categories. For them, Scripture comprises revelations and “prophetic writings” (see Rom. 16.25-26; 2 Pet. 1.19-21; Rev. 22.18-19)! According to the NT Epistles, the Christ will die “once for all” (Gk. ἅπαξ hapax) “at the end of the age” (Heb. 9.26b), a phrase which consistently refers to the end of the world (cf. Mt. 13.39-40, 49; 24.3; 28.20). Similarly, just as Heb. 1.2 says that the physical Son speaks to humanity in the “last days,” 1 Pet. 1.20 (NJB) demonstrates the eschatological timing of Christ’s initial appearance by saying that he will be “revealed at the final point of time.”!
Was There An Oral Tradition?
The oral tradition is hypothetical and presupposed. There is no evidence for it. In fact, the evidence seems to refute it.
There Was No Pre-Pauline Oral Tradition
First, the gospels are written anonymously.
Second, there are no eyewitnesses.
Third, there are no firsthand accounts.
Fourth, how is a supposed Aramaic story suddenly taken over, less than 2 decades after the purported events, by highly articulate Greeks and written about in other countries like Greece and Rome? Do you realize that none of the New Testament books were ever written in Palestine by Jews? None! That doesn’t make any sense and it certainly casts much doubt about the idea of a supposed Aramaic oral tradition.
When, Where, and By Whom Was Each Book of the New Testament Written?
Fifth, you can certainly compare a novel with the gospels. Almost every event in Jesus’ life is borrowed from the Old Testament and reworked as if it’s a new event. This is called intertextuality, meaning a heavy dependence of the New Testament literature on Hebrew Scripture. A few examples from the gospels serve to illustrate these points. It’s well-known among biblical scholars that the Feeding of the 5,000 (aka the miracle of the five loaves and two fish) in Jn 6.5-13 is a literary pattern that can be traced back to the OT tradition of 2 Kings 4.40-44. Besides the parallel thematic motifs, there are also near verbal agreements: "They shall eat and have some left” (2 Kings 4.43). Compare Jn 6.13: “So they gathered ... twelve baskets ... left over by those who had eaten.” The magi are also taken from Ps. 72.11: “May all kings fall down before him.” The phrase “they have pierced my hands and my feet” is from Ps. 22.16; “They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst” is from Psalm 69.21. The virgin birth comes from a Septuagint translation of Isaiah 7.14. The “Calming the storm” episode is taken from Ps. 107.23-30, and so on & so forth. Is there anything real that actually happened which is not taken from the Jewish Bible? Moreover, everything about the trial of Jesus is at odds with what we know about Jewish Law and Jewish proceedings. It could not have occurred in the middle of the night during Passover, among other things. This is historical fiction. That’s precisely why E.P. Sanders once called the book of Acts (the so-called fifth gospel) historical fiction:
“The majority of New Testament scholars
agree that the Gospels do not contain
eyewitness accounts; but that they present
the theologies of their communities rather
than the testimony of eyewitnesses”. — Wiki
“Many biblical scholars view the discussion
of historicity as secondary, given that
gospels were primarily written as
theological documents rather than historical
accounts”. — Wiki
Scholarship is not necessarily a bad thing for evangelical Christians. It actually helps them to clear up the apparent theological and historical confusion.
8 Theses or Disputations on Modern Christianity’s View of the Bible
What About the Extra-Biblical Sources that Seem to Support the Historicity of Jesus?
First, Jesus is not your everyday, garden-variety Jew, as most apologists depict him when trying to explain why Jesus is never mentioned by any secular contemporary authors.
Mark 1.28
“News about him spread quickly over the
whole region of Galilee”.
Mt. 4.24
“News about him spread all over Syria.”
Matthew 4.25
“Large crowds followed Him from Galilee and
the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea
and from beyond the Jordan.”
So why is it that in approximately 65 years there is not so much as a single word about him in any extra-biblical book?
Why aren’t the meticulous Roman historians (who wrote just about everything) mentioning Jesus? Why is Plutarch and Philo unaware of Jesus’ existence? You’d think they would have, at least, heard of him. So something doesn’t add up. Not even the local Jewish writers mention Jesus, even in passing.
Second, the so-called extra-biblical sources that briefly mention Jesus have all been tampered with. The first mention of Jesus outside the New Testament was at the close of the first century by Josephus’ Testimonium Flavianum. Scholars know that this account is inauthentic and unacceptable, containing an interpolation. Josephus scholars suspect that Eusebius might be the culprit.
Third, Pliny the Younger, writing from the 2nd century, was in communication with Tacitus so his account cannot be viewed as an independent attestation.
Fourth, the Talmud was written many centuries later and contains no eyewitnesses. It is totally irrelevant.
Fifth, Tacitus’ Annals was in the possession of Christians (Medicis) and was most probably altered by 11th century monks:
“It is the second Medicean manuscript, 11th
century and from the Benedictine abbey at
Monte Cassino, which is the oldest surviving
copy of the passage describing Christians.
Scholars generally agree that these copies
were written at Monte Cassino and the end
of the document refers to Abbas Raynaldus
cu ... [sic] who was most probably one of
the two abbots of that name at the abbey
during that period”. — Wiki
Moreover, Tacitus probably lifted the passage from Luke 3.1 and even got Pontius Pilate’s title wrong. Scholars have found traces of letters being altered in the text, and they have pointed out that Tacitus, an unbeliever, would not have referred to Jesus as the Christ. Besides, these Roman writers were not even eyewitnesses and are too far removed from the purported events to have any bearing on them. If we can’t make heads or tails from the second generation Christians who themselves were not eyewitnesses, how much more information can these Roman writers give us, writing from nearly one century later? So it’s a strawman argument to use these 2nd century writers, who were drawing on earlier materials, as independent attestations for the existence of Jesus.
Sixth, a consensus can also be used as a fallacious argument, namely, as an appeal to authority fallacy. We know of many things that were once held to be true that were later proven to be false. Like the idea that everything revolved around the earth. That was once a consensus. It was false. Similarly, the current consensus concerning Christ may be equally false! If Bible scholars reject the historicity of Noah, Abraham, and Moses, then why do they support the historicity of Jesus? If there were no eyewitnesses and no firsthand accounts, if Paul tells us almost nothing about the life of Jesus, if the Testimonium Flavianum and the Annals of Tacitus are inauthentic, and if Bertrand Russell and world-renowned textual critic Kurt Aland questioned the existence of Jesus (as if he were a phantom), then on what grounds does the scholarly consensus affirm the historicity of Jesus? It seems to be a case of special pleading. A nonhistorical Jesus would obviously put a damper on sales and profits. Jesus sells. Everyone knows that. Perhaps that’s the reason why the consensus is maintained!
But Didn’t the Early Church Fathers’ Writings Attribute Authorship to Jesus’ Disciples?
Let’s cut to the chase. The gospels were written anonymously. There were no firsthand accounts. And there were no eyewitnesses. The names of the authors were added in the 2nd century. Even the second generation Christians who wrote the gospels don’t claim to be eyewitnesses. They claim to know someone who knew someone, who knew someone, who knew someone, and so on. The earliest case of attributing a gospel to a particular person comes from the writings of Papias, whom both modern scholars and Eusebius distrust. Eusebius had a "low esteem of Papias' intellect" (Wikipedia). And scholars generally dismiss Papias’ claim that the original gospel of Matthew was written in Hebrew.
As for the purported authorship by the disciples themselves, that is utterly impossible for three main reasons. One, they would have been long dead by the close of the first century. Two, they were illiterate fishermen from the backwoods of Galilee. See Acts 4.13 in which Peter and John are described as uneducated and illiterate (ἀγράμματοι) men. Three, they were unable to write in highly sophisticated and articulate Greek. Not to mention that the authors of the gospels spoke very sophisticated Greek and copied predominantly from the Greek rather than from the Hebrew Old Testament. So, the traditional story that we’ve been told just doesn't hold water. It needs to be revisited.
Am I Inconsistent in Trusting Only Part of the New Testament While Tossing Out the Gospels and Claiming to Be a Follower of Christ?
First, I know what Christ’s teachings are by way of direct revelations from the Holy Spirit, similar to those Paul experienced and wrote about in Galatians 1:11-12 (NASB):
“For I would have you know, brothers and
sisters, that the gospel which was preached
by me is not of human invention. For I
neither received it from man, nor was I
taught it, but I received it through a
revelation of Jesus Christ.”
Second, I’m not trusting only part of the New Testament and tossing out the gospels, while claiming to be a follower of Christ. I actually believe in the entire New Testament. I have a high view of scripture and I believe that every word was given by inspiration of God (including those of the gospels). The Bible has many genres: poetry, parable, metaphor, wisdom, prophecy, apocalyptic, history, theology, etc. If someone doesn’t interpret poetry as history, that doesn’t mean that he’s tossing out the poetic part of scripture and claiming that it’s not inspired. He’s simply saying that this part of scripture is not meant to be historical but rather poetic. Similarly, my view that the gospels are theological doesn’t mean that they are not inspired by God or that they’re false. It simply means that I’m interpreting genres correctly, unlike others who have confused biblical literature with history, and turned prophecy into biography. It appears, then, that the theological purpose of the Gospels is to provide a fitting introduction to the messianic story beforehand so that it can be passed down from generation to generation until the time of its fulfillment. It is as though NT history is written in advance. So the gospels have a certain role to play.
There’s No Such Thing As a Follower of Christ
I keep seeing profiles on Facebook and Twitter where people claim to be “followers of Christ.” What does that even mean? You’re either in-Christ or out-of-Christ. Only someone who is not in Christ is a follower of Christ. People often confuse the terminology. They think that a true Christian is a follower of Christ. False! A true Christian is not following Christ. He is in Christ! Only those who have not yet been reborn are “followers of Christ,” seeking to become united with him. Those who are already reborn from above through the spirit (Jn 3.3; Acts 2.1-4) are already in-Christ. They’re not followers of Christ. And you don’t get to be in-Christ through belief alone (Jas. 2:19), professions of faith, the sinner’s prayer, altar calls, by an intellectual assent to the truths of Christianity, or by following Christ through performance-based behaviors (i.e. observing the commandments, etc.). These are all false conversions. You must first get rid of the false self and put on God as your new identity (the true self). I’m afraid there’s no other way.
How Are We Saved: Is It Simply By Belief Alone, Or Do We Have To Go Out Of Ourselves Ecstatically In Order To Make That Happen?

Subject: Jesus Calmness In The Storm
Ref: Genesis (KJV) 3
Matthew 7: 24-27; Matthew 14:28-31
Mark 4:39
Matthew 14:28-31
Genesis tells us that the First Man, Adam sold mankind into Sin. The Second Adam, “Jesus” Atone for men sins (Inclusive of both genders) past, present, and future.
So, it should be a small price to pay for his offsprings, you and I, to endure a little suffering for him.
It has been said that you are either in a Storm; Just coming out of a Storm; or you are getting ready to go into a Storm.
And if you think life is good and nothing will ever happen to you, think again, because there is a Storm on the Horizon and it is heading your way.
Storms are important in shaping our Character and Strengthening our Faith and our Resolve to Stand, having no Fear, because we know that all of Heaven have our "6" (Military Term Which Mean, "I Got Your Back").
That's right, Jesus our 'High Priest' and all of the Holy Host (Angels)
(Angels) in Heaven, Got Our Backs.
Let's review our scriptural text:
Matthew 7: 24-27 (KJV)
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew; and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock (A Strong Foundation).
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
Matthew 14:28-31 (KJV)
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. “And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.”
But, when He saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, “Lord, Save Me”.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”
Mark 4:39 (KJV)
And Jesus arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea,
“PEACE BE STILL”. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
STORMS are a vital part of human life. Whether we serve the Lord or not, there will be storms and trials that pass into our daily lives. No one is exempt from the ‘Storms that life brings’.
When you and I first accepted Jesus, we wanted to climb Mount Everetts and proclaim to the World that Jesus Christ is Our Lord and Savior.
Then the devil and his demons began to attack us and our faith begin to wane. Instead of believing Jesus's WORD, we begin to listen to Satan's words and the words of men who don’t know Jesus.
So what are the difference? Jesus always Encourage us, He speak 'Faith' because Jesus Christ is the WORD (GK. Logos), God's Law Made FLESH!
The devil speak doubt and self hatred. He uses 'Fear' to discourage, torment, depress, and oppress us. He often manipulate the ones you trust the most to further speak negativity about your situation so that you feel powerless and defeated.
The devil’s Greatest Weapon is “FEAR”.
What are the Storms we are talking about here? Well, the Biblical definition of Storm is: ‘A violent wind; a tempest (Hurricaine). Thus a storm of wind, is correct language, in the proper sense of the word is rushing and violent.’
It has primarily no reference to a fall of rain or snow. But as a violent wind is often attended with rain or snow.
The word storm has come to be used, most improperly, for a fall of rain or snow without wind (See KJV Dictionary).
What does Storms do? In nature we know that only the Strong Survive and the Weak Fall by the Wayside.
Even though Storms can be very violent and destructive, in nature, it renew life; Storms weed out weak trees; and Storms remove excessive parts of life.
The Bible reveal three kinds of storms.
1. RAIN STORMS ...
frequent, little, short duration, falling water drops, shower...,etc.
2. FLOOD STORMS ...
Flood in the Bible can represent Divine Judgment. Floods are not as often as rains.
The storm of the flood can show in proper building, one should not build in the spiritual flood plains.
The storm of floods can come from making poor choices and building in unsound areas.
3. WIND STORMS ... gales, tornadoes, and hurricanes. It is difficult to prepare for them because they appear so suddenly.
When the wind Storm is raging, you have to find safety until the storm passes. After the storm passes, you survey the damages, make repairs or rebuild if necessary. Often cloud burst and hail storms accompany these Wind Storms Events.
Because God's Children have Faith, the Holy Spirit gives us Calm even when we are in our Storms.
In Matthew 14:28-31, Peter was doing fine walking on water, then something happen.
Peter took his eyes off of what was important. He took his eyes off of Jesus and got distracted by the weather effects he saw and were experiencing.
Peter began to sink and just before he perished, Peter muster up enough Faith to cry out, "Lord, Save Me"; Jesus reached out His Hand and pulled Peter up out of water into the safety of the boat.
Children of God, when Jesus is in the Boat you don't have to fear the Storms that come in your life because Jesus Christ is also the Master and Lord over the Storms.
Also, please understand that you and I can never count anyone out because even the most vile and undeserving sinner can call out to Jesus just moments before he or she dies or perish and say, "Lord, Save Me”, and the Lord Jesus Christ will reach out His Hand and pull that man's or woman's Soul to safety even when their physical body dies.
You see, when we focus on our Storms and Circumstances we see Fear, Hopelessness, and Danger. So what does loosing our focus do? Misplaced focus on the Storm breeds fear! Fear breeds more wrongful focus.
Peter never tried swimming. We know he could swim because the New Testament records his swimming ability. But if you try swimming in a Storm, you might drown.
Once Peter regained focus on Jesus, The Master Of The Sea and Storms, he had ‘Sense Enough’ and ‘Faith Enough’ to call out to the Master of All Storms and say, "Lord, Save Me".
Mark 4:39 says, "And he arose"- literally, he awoke (διεγερθεὶς) - and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still (Σιώπα πεφίμωσο); literally, Besilent! be muzzled!
The Greek perfectly implies that before the Word was uttered, the thing was done by the simple fiat of His Will Preceding The Word.
The combined descriptions of the Synoptists show that the Storm Was Very Violent, such as no human power could have composed or stilled the Storm.
So, then these Words indicate the Supreme Authority of Christ as God, Ruling the Sea and Wind with his Mighty Power.
May the Lord bless you and keep you; May the Lord make his face to shine upon you; and be Gracious unto you. May the Lord lift up his Countenance upon you and give you Peace, this day and forever, Amen.

Gears & Analysis - Manson Delorean [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
Tumblr media
DeLorean The steadfast mainstay of the band's early days, custom-made with near-future imagery.
The first guitar Matthew ordered from Manson, it appeared in 2001 and became his main guitar for live performances and recordings until he retired it in 2005. It is called the ‘DeLorean’ (often called the Silver Manson) because of its futuristic looks, reminiscent of the DeLorean car in the film Back to the Future. The body, which at first glance appears to be made of metal, is actually just laminated aluminium sheets on wood. The body is made of mahogany (some say poplar) and the neck is made of high-grade maple with a beautiful bird's eye grain and a rosewood fingerboard. Pickups are Seymour Duncan ‘Hot P90’ front and Kent Armstrong ‘Motherbucker’ rear. The latter is constructed like two twin-blade single-coil sized humbuckers and is characterised by its extremely powerful tone. The unit also incorporates a Graphtech ‘Ghost Pickup System’, which can be used to create pseudo-acoustic sounds by utilising the output from a piezo pickup built into the bridge saddle. The GK-2A guitar synth system from Roland is also built in, so this guitar can be used to create not only normal guitar and acoustic sounds, but also synthesised sounds when connected to a GR-series guitar synth. The GR series is a guitar with a wide range of options. In addition, the backside of the guitar has a large zigzag at the bottom (not visible in the photo), where a board containing various effectors is built in (this model is equipped with the ZVex Fuzz Factory and MXR Phaser Phase 90 circuits). In other words, this is a guitar with a wide variety of functions that allows you to complete your sound makeup with just the guitar itself and an amp, without having to install effects pedals under your feet.
Controls There are a number of controllers and switches to control a variety of functions. As seen in the live video, the two silver knobs at the bottom of the unit are probably for the ‘Fuzz Factory’ and the knob on the right side of the bridge is for the ‘Phase 90’. The mini-switches are probably ON/OFF switches for the effects, guitar synths, and piezos. The three small knobs on the right side of the unit are probably normal guitar controllers.
Head Stock The head is shaped in a way reminiscent of a Telecaster, to which an aluminium plate is affixed. All six pegs are placed on one side. The functionality is orthodox, but the circular knobs help to give the guitar a futuristic look. The rosewood fingerboard is rounded rather than slab board, as the joint between the fingerboard and neck is rounded and arced.
