The Milky Way's long-lost sibling finally found
Scientists at the University of Michigan have deduced that the Andromeda galaxy, our closest large galactic neighbor, shredded and cannibalized a massive galaxy two billion years ago.
Even though it was mostly shredded, this massive galaxy left behind a rich trail of evidence: an almost invisible halo of stars larger than the Andromeda galaxy itself, an elusive stream of stars and a separate enigmatic compact galaxy, M32. Discovering and studying this decimated galaxy will help astronomers understand how disk galaxies like the Milky Way evolve and survive large mergers.
This disrupted galaxy, named M32p, was the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, after the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies. Using computer models, Richard D'Souza and Eric Bell of the University of Michigan's Department of Astronomy were able to piece together this evidence, revealing this long-lost sibling of the Milky Way. Their findings were published in Nature Astronomy.

Okay so this is probably gonna take me the entirety of today to write out and cover everyone hahaa but imma do it cause yall deserve the MOST love. 💜💜
So this year has been pretty rough. I finished my first year of college and started my next. School has kicked my butt and I'm not even gonna talk about this summer and all the heart ache I felt being a MultiStan. But that's officially behind and I pray and hope going into this next year it will be the best year yet! For me and all those I love.
Speaking of loved ones I gotta start with my Bunny. @spicyjhoe you are literally my bestest most wonderful internet friend. You are a rainbow I look forward to in rainy days and my number one supporter. Fangirling with you and talking to you and phone calls and presents and everything has just absolutely blown me away this year. Ya know, its technically been a year since I tried first talking to you hahha (but friendship didnt start till April 23 and that very random RM post hahaha). I'm so thankful for you and although this might not be the year we see each other, I know you'll always be there and I hope you know I'll always be here and one day we will finally hug irl and I cannot wait (oh no I'm crying I'm okay i promise I just love you)
Next is my art senpai @pineapple-panini19 I. Adore. You. You are so sweet and so talented and so precious my gosh. I love how we discuss art and go to each other for help like I love talking to you. And I'm so glad we were able for a little to discuss music when YouTube had messages lol it's been a pleasure getting you into more kpop and talking about it. One of these days we gotta meet lol considering you're ONLY AND HOUR. Thank you so much for encouraging me on my art journey. Honestly it is largely thanks to you that I even keep trying. I hope this next year smiles on you and you continue to do what you love.

Hello!
Hi! I’m GalaxyCollisionArts! I normally go by GalaxyCollision, but that was taken :^) I’m a hobbyist who has taken great interest in the manga art style. I make doodles of my OCs and I’m considering making a story/webcomic of them? I have no idea what I’m doing, and I probably never will!
Anyway, look forward to doodles and stuff. I draw in Clip Studio Paint EX (on sale :D) and with the traditional junk I’ve accumulated. I’ll post whenever I can!

#GalaxyCollisions 🌟🌠🌠🌠🌠 Many galaxies are members of groups or clusters. Since groups and clusters contain so many galaxies relatively close together, it should not be surprising that galaxies sometimes collide with each other. In fact, the Milky Way Galaxy is colliding with the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy right now (see the SDSS First Discoveries for more information). Although galaxy collisions are common, stars in each galaxy are so far apart that collisions between stars are very rare. Even if galaxies don't actually collide, though, they can still affect one another. When two galaxies pass close to one another, the force of gravity they exert on one another can cause both galaxies to bend out of shape. Both crashes and near misses between galaxies are referred to as "interactions." At the right, you can see two galaxies interacting. You can see they are being distorted by the gravitational interaction between them. Can you imagine what they might have looked like before they interacted? When two galaxies interact, clouds of gas inside each galaxy may become compressed. Compressing the clouds can cause them to collapse under their own gravity, turning into stars. This process can lead to a burst of star formation in interacting galaxies, leaving a new generation of stars in a galaxy where normal star formation may have ceased long ago. Galaxy collisions take hundreds of millions of years, so we can't watch them happen. Instead, we use computer simulations to show us what would happen if two galaxies collided in a certain way. If you are interested in learning about galaxy collisions, you can use a web-based simulation tool to model them.
