I keep getting recommended german dub spongebob clips on youtube. Idk german but I like the voices in the dub. A lot of them are really close to the original. I'm kinda disappointed with Slappy's german dub voice but he's my favorite so I'm naturally going to be picky. But to be serious, his german dub voice should've been easy given the fact that Peter Lorre had his start in german theatre and film. He has quite a number of them. This is one of those cases where Slappy being a Peter parody would've REALLY translated well. But nah, he just sounds like some dude who smokes 20 packs a day. I mean Lorre was a chainsmoker but that's not the point. They could've pushed for a more Peter Lorre sounding fish ya kno? We have a bunch of English Lorre parodies but a German one would've been neat. Such a missed opportunity😔
On another note, I need English sub versions for a portion of Peter Lorre's German films.
Guten Abend an Herrn Klemens, dem Mordopfer aus Zwischen den Ohren, dessen Vater ihn nicht mal nach seinem Tod akzeptieren konnte, und NUR an Herrn Klemens aus Zwischen den Ohren
how do I convince you to read the last novel by Brecht, called The Business Affairs of Mr. Julius Caesar, despite the fact that it's unfinished and posthumously published, because the retelling of the late Roman republic according to its financial affairs, and specifically those of Caesar's through the eyes of his secretary, is satirical, irreverent, ironic, heartfelt, leftist, re-coded to mirror modern economic terminology to create a curious and fascinating funhouse, a contemporary distortion of Rome's politics and a Roman distortion of modern finance, all in all is frankly a stroke of genius, and Caesar is amusing, made fun of, brilliant, saved from idolising greatness, a lustful libertine, corrupted and corruptor, democratic, all in one go, how do I convince you — it finishes with "Democracy is peace", that's the last written sentence, maybe with that
I am now really interested in this secret agent guy character. I started imagining him appearing in a blue coat often, so I'm calling him the Man in the Blue Coat and his origins and employers are intentionally obscure
I like taking a bit of some of my favorites of PL's roles in his designs, like he's got the scarf from the Stranger, sometimes I draw his hair like Louie, you can't see it here but he's got a bow tie like Stix
And maybe the blue is from Boo Berry even tho that was Paul Frees
Okay this clip disappeared into the void the last time I tried to post it. Maybe the site is trying to shadowban me for this harmless comedy but I'm going to try again anyway.
EDIT: Oh heck, it appeared like twenty minutes later, yeah thanks. Thanks for ensuring no one will ever see it. Anyway, yeah! This movie. I wanted to burn some subtitles for it because it is in fact a very amusing film, and this here was the only online copy I was able to find. Thanks to the uploader for the translation! I sincerely hope that one day this film can be restored.
In the meantime, does anyone else feel the need to provide our man Redakteur Stix with more food until he can't eat any more? Or is that just me being perverse...
The Peter Lorre tarot: editor Stix, the man who helps rush his little town into becoming a modern metropolis and seduces a handful of ladies along the way is probably the best choice for the high priestess/the popess.
21 - dann jedoch kam ein jeder, welchen sein Herz dazu trieb, und jeder, der einen willigen Sinn besaß, brachte die Beisteuer für den HERRN zur Fertigung des Offenbarungszeltes und für den gesamten heiligen Dienst in diesem, und für die heiligen Kleider;
22 - und zwar kamen sowohl die Männer und ebenso auch die Frauen, ein jeder, welchen sein Herz dazu trieb; diese brachten Spangen, Ohrringe, Fingerringe und Halsgeschmeide, goldene Schmucksachen jeder Art; und jeder, welcher dem HERRN etwas vom Gold als Weihgabe darzureichen beschlossen hatte, brachte jenes herbei;
