Okay, so last piece of news that I didn't repost in time because I was playing Side Order instead: Gear Adjustment got a serious boost in version 7.0!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't go over every piece of gear that had adjustments added, but basically, any brimmed cap can now flipped, all goggles and glasses can be moved to the top of your head, or if they were already there, can be moved to over your eyes.
Some more T-shirts were made adjustable so that they can be oversized, like the Green Tee, but more importantly so were all the variants of the Layered LS model. Additionally, all the various sweaters can also be oversized, or in the case of the Manatee Swag Sweat, be regularsized instead. And that's not even everything for clothing, because hoodies can have their sleeves rolled up too!
And for shoes you can now remove the socks of almost all of the shoes that have them included in the base model, with the one exception being the School shoes you get from the Splatoon 1 and 2 Inkling Girl amiibo.
With that said, this being at its core a Splatoon fashion blog I am of course very curious: What gear being made adjustable has you the most excited? Please tell me! I really genuinely want to know! For me it's probably the Choco Clogs, because I really like their model and color, but their pale green socks always made them difficult to work with for me up to now.

Looking Forward -> 2024
Tumblr media
We are almost done with 2023 and what a year it’s been! Both IRL and here, there has been so many great changes this year, and there’s still so much to look forward to in 2024. Therefore, I wanted to take a little time to reflect on this past year and then talk about what I have planned for next year. Because I know I’ll be long winded as usual, I will place it under a cut.
2023: The Year of Hali
So this year was a momentous year creatively for me, as I officially switched my main WoL OC from Yume to Hali, and though I do still have a twinge of guilt for dropping Yume completely like I did, I have to admit that I’ve never been happier writing than I am right now. Hali and her story and her ship with Aymeric bring me so much joy, and I have seen how much Hali has been enjoyed by all of you, so it just tells me that I made the right decision. I have written so much more for Hali in only a year than I have for Yume in all the previous years combined. I have been practicing my gposing way more and I felt like I have grown so much as a creator, and I think it’s because I’m so genuinely happy with Hali that it makes me want to keep doing more. This little pink woman has stolen my whole heart and I am very proud of all I have done this year with her.
Now I know that the last two months have been really stressful IRL and it’s been difficult to get back into writing, but I’m not going to let it get to me. I’m hoping that starting next week after the holidays are over, my son is back in school, and we are all back to our routines that it’ll be way easier to write. Still, I’m proud of what I’ve already done and I’m so excited for what I have planned for 2024, along with my hopes for Dawntrail and for Hali and Aymeric’s future development.
2024, Dawntrail, and Beyond
I know I’m not alone in being extremely excited for Dawntrail and beginning our WoLs’ next story arc, so I already have some plans for Hali that will happen for sure, and some that might happen depending on circumstances. I also have plans for Urania x Hermes on top of everything I want to do for Hali. So let’s go over all of these briefly.
First of all, I am going to continue working on my current WIPs for Hali’s story, notably Hali and Aymeric’s first meeting, expanding on Hali and Aymeric bonding while Aymeric recovers in the infirmary (twice!), the letters they send to each other throughout SB, ShB, and Pre-EW, the love confession, and the Ishgardian Ball. I have worked on all of this interchangeably for months now and I hope to get something done soon enough. I also have a bunch of Hali lore that I have planned on discussing, notably her ancestry and where each side of her family comes from. This is a lot I know, but there’s so much that I want to write and share with you all.
Next I absolutely know that I want Aymeric to accompany Hali to Tural (The New World) for 7.0 despite it going against canon. I want Aymeric to have some time away from Ishgard and to experience an adventure with Hali. I know he can’t accompany her on adventures most of the time, but I want to be self indulgent damn it and that man needs an action-adventure vacation with his girlfriend!
That’s it for my definitive plans, but what about what I might be doing for Hali in 2024? Well, the biggest question hanging in the balance is the new casting job. It depends on if I believe the new casting job will fit Hali and make sense for her progression if I will add it to her canon jobs list. If I don’t think it’ll fit her, then I might look into the other jobs and see if there’s something I’ve overlooked that can be added instead. But there’s always the possibility that no new canon jobs are added and Hali remains an Astrologian and Dancer only. I was just looking forward to perhaps giving Hali some development of her magical abilities and learn a new job. But I will have to wait and see for Tokyo Fanfest for that!
The other thing that I’m not entirely sure if I’m doing it yet or not is a proposal! I might have Aymeric propose to Hali in 7.0 but I’m not sure if I want to do it so soon, or if it feels right doing it in 7.0. I want to experience all of 7.0’s MSQ before I decide on that. It WILL happen eventually I promise, it’s just a matter of when.
I think that’s everything for Hali, but I also have plans for Urania and Hermes! I’m wanting to write a bit of their canon story but I’m also super excited for the Modern AU I have been developing! I’m not sure yet if I will do anything with the Good Ending AU I just posted about, but it’s still a possibility. I’m also going to make them a separate section under my pinned post so there will be easy access to their lore.
Okay, I believe that’s everything. I will be getting started on all this after the new year’s celebration, and I hope to be able to share something really soon. Until then, I wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend and I wish everyone joy and inspiration in the new year! Love you all!! 🥰💖

You guys I love her so much. I was so excited for the graphics update and when I spawned into character creator and saw her (her eyes!!!!! So pretty!!!) I literally cried, from joy! Then I continued to cry as I watched the benchmark and saw her with all the new environments and details and… Just *WOW.* She’s missing her hat (Matoya’s Hat) that she never takes off. But that can be a surprise for launch I suppose!!
I feel for the people who aren’t happy with their characters, I do, but these changes really brought Loran to life and I am *so* excited to see her in her proper attire, come 7.0!
It’s full speed ahead on *this* hype train! I am gonna be trying to make it through a full NG+ playthrough and enjoying the events as they come and go until June 28th!! (And probably popping back into the Benchmark to see my future girl on occasion!)
See you all in Dawntrail everyone!!! 💜✨

I want to make a small post about the Spriggans coming with Pictomancy in 7.0. I know it's a bit of a spoiler-y subject... kinda sorta, yes and no, not really.
We've all seen the Spriggan in the extended trailer. We know they're involved and coming. We don't know how or to what extent yet, but in patch 6.55 we got a little extra preview of Pictomancer Krile.
That's where my spoiler-y bits come in~ (it's not going to be much)
Tumblr media
I love Spriggans 💖
I've made several previous posts with my Spriggan companions and one about how excited I was to see them flourishing on our Island Sanctuary- basically gushing 'Thank You's to SE for including them there.
I'm in the same mindset with this post. I am so happy they are including Spriggans with Pictomancer. They get an inclusive role with the players this way- in the form of a class! How clever!
It's not just Spriggans. We know Moogles will also be included in Pictomancy too. I wonder what other cute Minions we'll see? Scenery as well!
Tumblr media
This especially touches my heart because my Spriggan has traversed all of Eorzea with me since I joined FFXIV.
I went back and did some digging and Voidflare (the name of my Spriggan), joined my adventures exactly two-months after I started playing. He's literally been at my side nearly the entire time. And he'll remain to be, because there's no other cutie companion I'd rather have 🥰💖
Tumblr media
When this scene came up in 6.55 👆🏻 I was all smiles 😄. I doubt SE will ever see a post like this, but once again, thank you so much! To the edge of the universe and back, thank you! 💝

6.55 and onward to Dawntrail!
And so Endwalker is officially at an end and the months until Dawntrail stretch out before us. It's going to be a difficult wait.
Spoilers for 6.55 msq and DT ahead.
Personally, I've been excited ever since they announced our destination for the new expansion. There's little I love more than exploring new places and getting to know new cultures and Severia is the same. The set up of "participating in a contest for the throne" I've been more or less neutral on. I knew my response would depend entirely on the characters involved so I've been eager to know more. Having now met Wuk Lamat, I can confidently say that Severia and I would do anything for her.
I know some people have worries about the so-called conflict within the Scions, but from the information that Wuk Lamat gave us I think the whole succession issue is more about competition than "conflict" except for that one mysterious contender that she says cannot win. (Can't wait to find out more.) It seems highly probably that Koana, the miqo brother she mentions who studied in Sharlayan, is another contender and is the one that Thancred and Urianger have agreed to help. That leaves two unknowns. I'm going to make a prediction that Estinien ends up in support of a third Mamool Ja contender, who is not the dangerous one. I don't know how Y'shola and G'raha are going to fit in, but I have every confidence in the writers' creativity.
I am also intrigued by the little mentions of Garlemald in this patch. Alphinaud and Alisaie want to come specifically so they can gain knowledge that will help Garlemald. The "conqueror" Wuk Lamat warns about is interested in taking advantage of Garlemald's weakness. We even get to help some Garleans kick back and relax on our Island. As someone with an interest in Garlemald (for reasons), I am hopeful that this is an indication that Garlemald's future will continue to concern us in the future and that we can do something about its current state.
It struck me, now that we have our WoL's party set up, that it is meant to call back to our initial journey to a new city in 2.0. Alisaie and Alphinaud were there then too, though we did not know them. And Erenville, who travels for a living, could be said to take the place of the merchant. I believe the reason that they had a stand alone side story for the 6.x msq rather than the pattern that we are used to, is that 7.0 is meant to feel like 2.0. It's the start of a brand new story introducing us to a brand new world where we have no connections or history or baggage and are essentially back to being just adventurers again.
While Yoshida has joked about this being the WoL's vacation, I'm hoping that the tantalizing mentions of the City of Gold will lead to some fun Indiana Jones-esque adventures. But I am definitely most excited about delving into Solution 9 and learning its mysteries.
As usual, I am always hoping and praying that Nero will become relevant in the new content again. (Come on, SE, there are a million ways you could use him and he improves every single thing he's in.) However, even if he's not, I plan to drag him into the story in my own headcanons and writings. Severia's not leaving her man behind this time, not when he would be so eager to explore a whole new potential source of technological discoveries. How exactly he'll fit in I will leave until I actually see how the story plays out.
All in all, I am very excited and looking forward to more exciting story to experience this summer!

Alright, I am going to TRY to do a BRIEF overview of Dusk's backstory, I guess. Just hit the highlights, up until he started actually adventuring. I will tell myself I can expand on everything later. Later!
Here's a picture that has nothing to do with anything, just because I like having a picture above the fold:
Tumblr media
Alright, first off, Dusk's real name is Bellinor, and his sister is Oriane. Their father, when they were very small, started calling them Dusk and Dawn for reasons he never explained, and it stuck. Their grandparents use their given names, and basically no one else does.
Tumblr media
He was born in Ishgard. I have thought a lot about his family and where they were in the Ishgardian hierarchy, but I am being BRIEF, so suffice to say, the fanciest of his relatives is his maternal grandmother, who was a knight in service to house Haillenarte.
His father is a spearman, and when Dusk and Dawn were eight or so, he began to train them how to use it. Their mother, a chirurgeon who was starting to break under the strain of being a healer in a Forever War, was still taken by surprise by how visceral a negative reaction she had to this. After talking it over with her husband, they began to plot an extreeeeemely slow desertion from the city. The timing turned out pretty good ... they were finally intending to leave for good when the twins were ten (who had no idea, of course) and during their very last trip outside of the city as a sort of dry run ... the Gates closed, and they couldn't go back, even if they had wanted to.
Dusk never thought of himself as not-Ishgardian, in spite of spending so much more of his life outside of the city than inside it, and he understands why his parents left, even if it was confusing and scary at the time. Unfortunately, part of why it was scary was ... they had fled to Gridania. I have a lot to say about his adolescence being spent in pre-Calamity Gridania and the stresses involved, but suffice to say ... sure, there were no dragons trying to kill them, but at least the dragons were somewhat predictable. The elementals were not.
Tumblr media
Dusk and Dawn's parents never wanted them to have to fight, even though their father did continue their training with spears. Just in case. After the Calamity, the twins travelled to Limsa Lominsa. The plan had been for Dusk - who was already a fairly good carpenter - to train as a blacksmith there to supplement his skills. Dawn, a botanist, went with him for company, and just to spread her wings a little, the Calamity giving her an urge to travel while she could. Neither intended to adventure, although they were certainly dressed the part, the whole family still in the habit of being Ever Vigilant. None of them want to be caught unarmed when shit hits the fan, if you will.
As a result, though, while they were bumbling around the city trying to figure out who to even talk to, H'naanza spotted them, and thought they were new adventurers. She called them over and asked them to kill some wharf rats. Dusk agreed to it without correcting her, which made Dawn feel too awkward to correct her herself, and it all kind of spiraled from there.
Tumblr media
It all worked out, at least.
I generally follow canon as far as his actual WoL career goes, filling in headcanon in the spaces the narrative itself provides. The biggest 'change' that isn't really a change regards his twin. Dawn, who also has the Echo, did not want to be a Scion, but she is extremely protective of her brother. So when it makes sense in my mind for her to be around, being very clear she is helping him and not the Scions, she's there. The big exception is Shadowbringers ... she's stuck at home and hating every second of it.
He was 30 when the Calamity hit, and was 35 when ARR began. I'm a one expansion = one year person ... except again for Shadowbringers, which in the Source timeline I think of only having happened in a couple of weeks. Which means he'll be turning 40 when 7.0 hits, I'm sure he's excited.

Something I have been considering regarding 7.0.
This is more of a personal ramble about my WoL more than anything, and won't have any bearing on what I post on this blog.
I've been leaning toward ending Etienne's story after 6.5.
This is partly because his story feels finished, and partly because I am not very excited for the story in 7.0 and beyond. I'm probably just going to make everything that happens in Dawntrail a non-canon AU for him.
Etienne's story was one that would always reach its conclusion once he found the will to live again, and he did so at the end of 6.0. Much of his internal angst rested with Hydaelyn/Venat. Plucking him from the Lifestream and compelling him to fight in her name was a source of great contention for him. From 2.0 to 5.0, Etienne thought he despised Hydaelyn because she didn't allow him to die with the rest of his clan.
In actuality—and this was something Etienne himself didn't realize until SHB—his true grievance lies in the fact that he feels like she deprived him of choice.
Tumblr media
In 6.0 she corrected that mistake. When Etienne "died" again after fighting Zenos, Hydaelyn gave him two options: Return to Etheirys and continue living the life gifted to him, or come with her and his family to rest eternally in the Aetherial Sea. Etienne chose the former option, having finally realized that yes, after everything he had seen, after traveling across the star and finding a new family and friends and a home and something to fight for, he wanted to live. He had the strength, the need, the will to continue living.
It was a groundbreaking moment for him, and every story beat was leading up to this realization. It's what his character development was leading up to.
Now that Etienne has received closure with Hydaelyn and is on the road to mental recovery, his arc feels complete. I would be very satisfied if his story were to end here, so there's not much else I want to do to keep it going.
Another reason... I feel like the game has a power scaling problem. It feels a bit silly to destroy the literal embodiment of despair at the end of the universe (Meteion) as well as an Ancient on steroids (Athena), only to go back to small scale quests like exploring. I can acknowledge this is likely necessary considering it's an MMORPG and the story must go on, but I can't get over how silly it sounds when I put it to writing.
(This is also in direct conflict with how I write Etienne's personal power scaling. While Etienne is a peerless swordsman and martialist, he's quite lousy with magic. Much of his power stems from blessings he's received over the years. These include: Hydaelyn's aetherial magic, Alexander's time magic, Seiryu's right eye, Vrai's dark mark, and Selene's (Azem's) power over the stars. These blessings are symbolic for him accepting help and not pushing people away anymore. Also, I don't want him to be any more powerful than he already is.)
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe an even larger threat than the End of Days will occur in Dawntrail and beyond. I'll definitely be around to see it, but when it comes to incorporating it into Etienne's story I'm leaning toward a solid no for now.
I'd also like to go back and brush up his story with Vrai and my other OCs. (... And I feel like Etienne has earned his happy ending at this point hehe)

I'm creating a story which may become an animated series
So, for those of you who are seeing me for the first time... Hi! I'm the person who used to go by Bee/HachiKitsune online! I named myself irl after my first well fleshed out main character I ever wrote and am looking for a pen name, might just go with Kitsuname(it's a Romanization of a combination of "kitsune" meaning "fox" and "same" meaning "shark" in Japanese)
I'm writing a series of light novels known as IR 7.0 // Kitsune, which is inspired primarily off of Mobile Suit Gundam and Rebuild of Evangelion, among other things. (There's some Neon Genesis in there, but I'm not anywhere near as fond of it as I am of Rebuild.)
IR as a world ranges from real-robot at the beginning of the timeline, to full on super-robot towards the end. IR 7.0 specifically is going to be an in-between point, where the mechas are able to do some wild, bombastic things, but I'm still going to have the feeling of a grounded series. Think of it as similar to Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn in its set of internal rules.
I've been working on this world for several years now, and with the input I've received from friends and strangers, I'm really happy with how fleshed out it is and am excited to show how I'm exploring it in writing!
For continual updates on how it's going, be sure to drop a follow on this blog, because this is primarily where I'll be sending out public info about it!
If you want to support me in my development of it, you can't yet, because my Patreon is going to be subject to a number of overhauls before I'm ready to link it, so all information I share about it for now is just going to be here on Tumblr for now.

A few very random thoughts about 6.4 - I only got to play the MSQ last night, so no raid stuff or anything else here.
Aside, though - I am curious about how many patches we'll get this cycle. No cycle has gone past X.5x yet, but the fact that Japan's Fanfest isn't until January 2024, I don't expect to see 7.0 until at least February-March. On the current cycle, 6.5 would come out in October ... which, now that I count months, would make it about right for an expansion in February-ish. It just seems longer because they've been stretching out the patch cycle this time around. I don't begrudge them that, even if it feels like content has been waning. Pandemic plus avoiding crunch plus giving YoshiP and Soken and Koji and whoever else is working on FFXVI some breathing room are all things that deserve grace.
I've been taking a break from the game this year, though I might go back and start catching up casually now. But breaks are good, and it still feels like coming home to come back and see everyone in a patch.
Anyway. 6.4 MSQ thoughts!
First of all, a big fuck you to the tank who forced us to abandon my first attempt at Voidcast Dais because we wiped three times - progressing farther each time, I mighta dd. On the first fucking day, my dude. You're an asshole.
I am currently underwhelmed with the story as a whole, though sleeping on it makes me view it slightly more favorably. The whole sequence on the 13th moon seemed very poorly thought out. Though, I do think/hope the parallels between that and the Fandaniel-releases-Zodiark sequence in Endwalker are deliberate. What it's saying in a story sense, I don't know yet, but I'd like to think the FFXIV writing crew are better than to write two completely separate "hahaha, by defeating me in a trial you fell right into my trap and released a terrible evil from this crater on the moon!" sequences without knowing exactly what they're doing. Still, I would have liked a nod to that in dialogue; a simple "well this feels familiar" from Y'shtola or Estinien would have done.
Golbez still feels "eh," but I'm also aware I felt this way about the Warriors of Darkness in the 3.X patches, and they brought it back to gleefully stomp on my heart with them later, so I'm reserving the right to come back and revisit the whole patch story after 7.0 or later. But the FFIV inserts feel less natural than other FF references in this game. I don't know if it's because I know exactly what they're referencing this time around, or if it's genuinely just weird.
Mostly though, I want to know about all the little nods to future story they dropped here. Erenville's "homecoming" (is he from Meracydia? they keep name dropping it, that's almost certainly where we're going in 7.0 at this point), Krile's envelope, Thancred and Urianger's new "client" who wants Archons ... maybe some of it is from side stories from this patch I haven't gotten to yet, but I'm sure some of it is setting up for later.
I still have to do the Pandaemonium tier, and Tataru's quests, and I guess Hildebrand, though he's not my favorite - if I want to get any relic weapons, I guess I should catch up there. But I also really really need to go back and do alliance raids weekly. I had to spend like 2mil gil to get to the minimum IL for the trial last night, which thankfully I have plenty, but still. I'm so behind on gear, it's embarrassing.
I do miss having a group of people to be excited about FFXIV with. Maybe I'll figure that out this summer.

Introduction to Asparagus Crowns and Growing Techniques Hydroponic Asparagus cultivation presents an innovative and efficient method for gardeners to grow this nutritious vegetable year-round, irrespective of soil conditions. By utilizing a controlled water-based environment enriched with essential nutrients, hydroponics allows for faster growth and healthier asparagus plants compared to traditional soil-based cultivation. This method not only simplifies the cultivation process but also ensures a steady supply of fresh asparagus right at your fingertips. As you delve into the world of hydroponics, you'll discover the ease and satisfaction of growing asparagus in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a beginner, exploring hydroponic asparagus cultivation can significantly elevate your gardening experience. Asparagus crowns: An overview of its growth and development I am thrilled to share with you the incredible world of asparagus crowns and the exciting techniques for growing this delicious vegetable. Asparagus is a member of the lily family and has been cultivated for centuries, with its origins in Western Asia. It is well-known for its tender and succulent spears, which make a fantastic addition to any healthy meal. When it comes to growing asparagus, one of the best ways to start is by using asparagus crowns. These crowns consist of the base of the asparagus plant, which includes the central fleshy crown and the dormant buds that will grow into new spears. By planting crowns, you can save yourself the time and effort of growing asparagus from seeds, as it typically takes about three years for seeds to mature into a productive plant. To create an optimal growing environment for asparagus crowns, it is important to provide them with ample space and well-drained soil. Sandy soils are preferred in temperate climates, and a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0 is ideal. Asparagus is a heavy feeder, so it is essential to provide it with a well-balanced vegetative nutrient solution to ensure healthy growth. For those who have limited space, hydroponic systems such as the Dutch bucket or nutrient film technique can be a great alternative. These systems use nutrient-rich water as a growing medium, eliminating the need for soil. Additionally, indoor hydroponic gardens, such as grow towers or buckets, are excellent options for growing asparagus in small spaces. During the first couple of years, asparagus plants are in their active growing stage and require warm temperatures, full sun, and consistent water levels. As the plants mature, they develop a deep root system that allows them to withstand lower temperatures and periods of drought. To maintain a healthy asparagus crop, it is important to pay attention to common pests and diseases. Beneficial insects and proper ventilation for better air circulation can help ward off pests. Additionally, setting fruit in large containers and using raft systems can help prevent soil-borne diseases. In conclusion, asparagus crowns are a fantastic way to start your asparagus growing journey. With their deep root system and the right combination of essential nutrients, you can enjoy an abundance of fresh and flavorful asparagus spears. So, whether you are a seasoned gardener or a beginner, consider trying your hand at growing asparagus crowns and savor the rewards of your own homegrown produce. Many green hydroponic asparagus plants are growing in a container. Understanding the Root System and Nutrient Requirements Asparagus fern root system: How it supports plant growth I am so excited to delve into the fascinating world of asparagus and explore its root system and nutrient requirements! The asparagus fern root system plays a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of the plant. Let's take a closer look at how it functions. The asparagus fern root system consists of a network of long, fibrous roots that extend deep into the soil.
These roots anchor the plant in place and absorb water and nutrients from the surrounding environment. As the roots absorb water, they transport it to the rest of the plant, ensuring its hydration and enabling proper growth. In addition to water absorption, the roots also play a vital role in nutrient uptake. They extract essential elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium from the soil, which are crucial for healthy plant development. The roots also absorb micronutrients like calcium, magnesium, and iron, which are necessary for proper asparagus growth. Essential nutrients for asparagus: Ensuring a well-balanced diet Proper nutrition is vital for the successful growth of asparagus plants. They have specific nutrient requirements that need to be met to ensure a well-balanced diet. Here are some essential nutrients that asparagus plants need: Nitrogen: This nutrient is essential for promoting vigorous growth and the production of healthy green foliage. It plays a crucial role in the synthesis of proteins, enzymes, and chlorophyll. Phosphorus: Phosphorus is necessary for energy transfer processes and is vital for root development, flowering, and fruiting. Potassium: Potassium is involved in many physiological processes within the plant, including the regulation of water uptake, enzyme activation, and disease resistance. Calcium, magnesium, and iron: These micronutrients are required in smaller quantities but are equally important. Calcium strengthens cell walls, magnesium is crucial for chlorophyll production, and iron is necessary for photosynthesis. To ensure that your asparagus plants receive the optimal nutrition, it is recommended to provide them with a well-balanced vegetative nutrient solution. This solution should contain the necessary macro and micronutrients in the right proportions. Regular monitoring of the electrical conductivity (EC) levels of the nutrient solution can help ensure that the plants receive enough nutrients without any excess buildup. Understanding the root system and providing essential nutrients are key factors in successful asparagus cultivation. By paying attention to these aspects, you can enjoy a bountiful harvest of delicious and nutritious asparagus spears. So, get ready to indulge in the flavorful world of homegrown asparagus and embrace the joy of growing your own food A collection of hydroponic green asparagus in a pot. Exploring Different Growing Methods Deep water culture: A hydroponic technique for asparagus I am so excited to share with you the different growing methods that can be used to cultivate asparagus. One popular technique is deep water culture, which is a hydroponic method. In this system, the asparagus crowns are placed in nutrient-rich water, allowing them to grow without the need for soil. This method is particularly effective for young plants and provides them with ample space for their root system to develop. With the right balance of essential nutrients and proper water temperature, asparagus can flourish in a deep water culture setup. Dutch bucket systems: A popular choice for outdoor gardens Another option for growing asparagus is using Dutch bucket systems, which are widely used in outdoor gardens. These systems consist of buckets filled with a well-drained soil mix, with the asparagus crowns planted directly into them. This method allows for better air circulation and makes it easier to monitor and adjust the water levels. Harvesting and Caring for Asparagus Spears As an avid gardener, I am thrilled to share some valuable insights on harvesting and caring for asparagus spears. This delicious and nutritious vegetable is a favorite among many, and growing your own supply can be a rewarding experience. Let's dive into the world of asparagus and learn how to identify the right time for harvesting those succulent spears. When it comes to harvesting asparagus, timing is crucial. You want to wait until the spears are the perfect size for picking. Generally, this happens when they reach a height of 6-8 inches above the soil surface. It's important to remember that the first year after planting asparagus seeds or crowns, you should avoid harvesting any spears. This allows the plants to establish a robust root system and gather energy for future growth. In the second year, you can start harvesting a few spears from established asparagus plants. However, it's best to leave most of the spears untouched to allow them to develop into mature ferns. These ferns will provide energy to the plants for the next growing season. By the third year, you can fully indulge in the harvest. Gently hand-pick the spears when they reach the desired height, cutting them just below the soil level. Be careful not to damage any neighboring spears that are still growing. Remember, harvesting regularly encourages the growth of new spears and extends the harvest season. Now that you have harvested your asparagus spears, it's time to care for the plants to ensure continuous productivity. Regular watering is essential to keep the soil consistently moist, as asparagus plants have deep roots that require adequate moisture for optimal growth. Applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plants will help retain soil moisture, suppress weed growth, and insulate against temperature fluctuations. While caring for your asparagus plants, keep an eye out for common pests like aphids, beetles, and slugs. Remove any affected foliage promptly or employ organic pest control methods to prevent damage. It's also important to provide a well-balanced vegetative nutrient solution to ensure your plants have access to the essential nutrients they need for healthy growth.

University of Minnesota Extension: This source explains that asparagus can be started from seeds or one-year-old roots known as "crowns." It emphasizes the importance of planting at the right depth and maintaining good soil moisture for optimal root and fern growth. The guide also mentions that harvesting begins two years after planting crowns or three years after planting seeds1. University of Maryland Extension: Traditionally, asparagus crowns are set in a trench that is 12-inches deep and 12- to 18-inches wide, with 4 to 5 feet between trenches. However, many gardeners have success with placing crowns in the bottom of a 6-inch trench. The crowns should be spaced 15 to 18 inches apart and raised slightly above the roots, with any rotted roots removed before planting2. University of New Hampshire Extension: According to this source, asparagus requires at least 8 hours of sun per day and should be planted in areas where trees or tall shrubs will not shade the plants or compete for nutrients and water. The guide also notes that the crown and root system of asparagus can grow to an enormous size, with dimensions of 5 to 6 feet in diameter and 10 to 15 feet deep2.

(7.0 trailer talk and big character hater energy under the cut)
I think, barring the obvious giant pitfall I'm really hoping they manage to avoid despite past writing, the thing I'm least excited about for this expansion is having to hang out a lot with G'raha. Half the reason I avoided even starting 6.x msq was that I just don't fucking want to deal with him ever again, and his worst fans being absolutely awful to me when I express this definitely don't help. I hope I can just immediately ditch him, but I'm not holding my breath because they keep trying to force a rapport that doesn't fucking exist (and never will given that they never acknowledge that he has serious character flaws and they aren't fucking cute moe shit) every time he shows up onscreen and it's almost always the worst part of the writing in a given scene.
He has not fucking earned a single shred of anything closer than "coworker who has no fucking boundaries and refuses to learn them" and the writing constantly forcing something deeper sucks ass. If they ever acknowledged that it sucked it would suck less, but no I'm supposed to have deep emotions for a character who spent his intro questline being irritating and trying to cash a wholly unearned emotional check and a full x.0 making a plan that actively harmed the person he was involving, and one fucking line of dialogue isn't enough to make me buy that he's genuinely sorry about it when he keeps being emotionally manipulative and I keep being forced to pick options that claim I feel anything but disgust at lightest for him.
It's the inverse problem of the 6.0-on Zenos dialogue issue, except there it's bad because they're ignoring multiple expansions worth of people writing around having accepted him instead of offering annoyed/angry options that fit that—with G'raha I'm basically never even allowed to so much as try to establish boundaries, and the one time I tried an option I thought was that in 6.0 the cutscene that followed was physically sickening and marred the entire rest of the area for being a downright evil act of manipulation presented as cute devotion. If I'm not allowed to be angry at him for that, I'm never going to be allowed to be angry at him for anything else.
Honestly, if they stopped trying to cute him up it would be more tolerable. I still wouldn't like him, he's dug far too deep for that and even if he hadn't I am very slow to forgive wasting the irl player's time, but at least I would feel like I wasn't having him pushed on me by the writers and that his flaws were being taken seriously as potential conflict fodder.
(If you come into my clearly labeled ventpost that can't be reblogged asking about my faves, I'm coming for you with a literary analysis knife and a reminder that one is an antagonist whose obsession and poor boundaries are consistently shown as being absolutely horrifying even as they are the closest thing he understands to true devotion and the other is a character I would genuinely like more if the player was able to ask him to not fucking hit on the WoL all the time even if i might not use the option, even though I know the latter could never have happened due to time/money costs and the extremely severe crunch of the time he was being written.)

Patch 6.4 MSQ Reaction
Tumblr media
Here are my first thoughts, opinions, and overall reactions to the 6.4 MSQ. Since I had a lot to say about Pandaemonium Anabaseios, those reactions were written in a separate post, HERE. Note that these are my personal thoughts, and not meant to be a critique on the MSQ story in any objective manner.
I’m in love with the opening scenes of the patch! The bonding with Zero over eating the spiciest ass curry imaginable was fantastic, and it spoke to me so personally, as my favorite food is Indian curry, and it’s something my mom and I have always loved eating together. So that’s probably way different from most people’s experience, but I took a ton of screenshots of this scene because it felt so personal for me.
Then we got the Estinien fan service scene and ohhhhhh boy, I was DYING laughing and giggling at it!! This is because I’m not an Estinien shipper myself, but I have some friends who are, and I knew that they would die of thirst. Then I got to thinking: WHY can’t we get a scene like THAT with Aymeric?? Throw us Aymeric shippers a bone, I beg of you Yoshi-P!!
Maybe the best part of that scene was Zero’s reaction… Ma’am please!! You are killing me over here!!
Then we got to go back to Labyrinthos briefly and I am just personally so excited for Hali to be coming home to Labyrinthos and Sharlayan soon, but alas, I had to play the patch on Yume, so it didn’t have the same feeling as it would be if it was Hali being there. Nonetheless the brief Sharlayan scenes were really good.
Fourchenault’s backside comments are going to spark a thousand smut fics, I just know it…
I’m so happy that Krile seems to be more in the spotlight going forward, as I love her and I’ve always felt that they’ve done her dirty by always having her stay behind. I’m glad that it looks like she’s going to get more love soon!
Also glad that Erenville made a cameo, as I find him to be a very cool character and like an Everyman. He gives a good perspective that kinda gets lost sometimes when the Scions are always talking with the leaders of nations and such.
The Aetherfont is very likely my new all time favorite dungeon in game. It’s absolutely gorgeous, the music was great as usual, and the fights were really fun! Once Hali gets there, I’m going to take a ton of gposes there!
The Thancred cameo was really nice, but my only beef is that he leaves immediately afterwards. WHY?!?! I’m so annoyed at that.
Probably my favorite part of the patch, storywise anyway, was the Garlemald section. I’m SO glad they are finally addressing how Garlemald and the Garlean people are going to rebuild and their future going forward. It was a nice touch, and I appreciate how Vrtra was able to come up with a great compromise and to let the Garleans have some dignity. Very good stuff in my opinion.
Then the Thirteenth Moon section was pretty much how I expected it would be. Meet the lopporrits and have a cute scene again, open portal, find Azdaja, fight Golbez, yadda yadda yadda.
I will say though, I loved the Golbez trial! The mechanics were challenging yet fun, and I actually enjoyed it very much. The gamer in me was pleased, regardless of the writer in me being just meh about it all.
What I wasn’t expecting, however, was that this Void story arc would still continue into 6.5. To be perfectly honest, this has been my least favorite part of the entire MSQ, in the whole game. Yes, it has trumped everything else as the stuff I least care about. Outside of Zero being an awesome character and wanting Azdaja freed and brought home, I really could care less about everything else. It still feels like an anime filler arc, and though it has gotten a bit better, I’m still not sold. I just want to get to 7.0 like immediately. And if it has anything else to do with the Thirteenth, I might scream. I’m so sorry if anyone is liking this arc, but I just can’t get into it myself.
With all of that being said, I very much loved Pandaemonium way more, and that’s where my mind has been since I finished it yesterday. Therefore, that’s all I’ll say about the MSQ, and I have probably much more to say about Pandaemonium in my next post. Thank you all for reading, and feel free to tell me your thoughts about it all as well!!

SWTOR Rant, BW Critical.
I'm very late finding this out but I learned today that the Manaan daily area won't be coming on Feb. 15th.
As excited as I am for the new story, I'm honestly getting a bit frustrated with BioWare's choices.
They've dumped all this time and money into superfluous UI changes and Character Creation screens that are getting mixed reviews. Overhauled yet downgraded the gearing system which is getting mixed but mostly negative feedback. Overhauling combat which is getting mixed reviews. And now most of the content from 7.0 isn't even coming at launch? Like, what is going on with BW?
At this point I think I just want them to delay it again and release the whole polished thing that accounts for feedback and retesting. If delaying the daily area is, as some have suggested, a way to pad out the content roll out to try and compensate for the long content droughts, I'd rather them just come out and say so than just announce then push back so many things.
[Edit: Apparently this was said some time ago prior to the official delay announcement and then mentioned again in that announcement but I only heard of it today. I knew the Operation and the Weapon Outfitter was going to be delayed but I had not heard anyone mention the daily area. Yet my closing statement remains the same, I would greatly prefer that they just delay and launch everything they said they would.]
