Yeah sure growing up abused may have left me with permanent scars on my psychological state that I'm still working to unpack, but on the bright side it gave me the ability to give a thoughtful in depth analysis of Roald Dahl's Matilda and all of its adaptations

#rambling #i love matilda so much. its such an important story to me. its literally just an abused childs power fantasy #where she gets to get back at the people who hurt her and protect other kids and then get a new loving family and everything is alright #my gf and i just watched the movie adaptation of the musical and we have Opinions on it. some good and some bad #so weve been discussing it and analyzing different parts of it #and its kinda nice to get to use my history for something good #to be able to give thoughtful analysis on how the changes they made in this adaptation have changed the allegory for abuse in the story #from the perspective of someone who grew up with that #and to just. have that be normal. my gf knows my history and its not gonna stop the conversation if i say #'this change works well for trunchbull's character bc it makes her seem more like a real life abuser' #'this detail is very subtle but it really captures some tiny part of the experience of growing up with an abuser' #'i dont like this bc it detracts from the narrative of the main character feeling alone and makes it less relatable to abused kids' #'i dont like this because while it IS something that happens under abuse it detracts from the fantasy where the kids all win together' #idk. of course everything that happened to me as a kid was awful and should not have happened but like #for a long time i had this problem where i didnt know how i was ever supposed to be okay about that #like no matter how much therapy i go through it will never UN-happen. it will always still have happened and it will always have been awful #and i couldnt figure out how i was supposed to recover from that besides 'bury it and try your hardest to never ever think about it' #and. i think maybe this is it. yes the abuse i went through was awful. thats kind of the whole thing about abuse #but. its also just a fact of my life. im better NOW. but that will not change what happened then #the abuse was awful. but the fact that i am an abuse survivor is a neutral fact. the same as any other fact from my childhood #its just a fact. a part of my past. and maybe being able to talk about it that way is... good for me #i dont have to break down when i think about it bc im okay now. my partner doesnt need to stop me and express sorrow for me bc im okay now #i can talk about my past in a neutral way and use my life experience to analyze movies #the same way that i used my experience of growing up in arkansas to analyze hollywood hillbillies when we watched it together #theyre both just two facts of my life. and analyzing movies is fun #that woman has no power over me anymore and hasnt for many many years. im okay now #abuse mention #child abuse mention #request to tag

Had a weird dream again

#i dreamt i was a titan holder #i havent watched aot for a year now #or any aot content #so whyd i dream abt it lmao #weird #anyway apparently i was a marley warrior in dat dream and that **my group and i were being followed and harassed by some ppl #we were able to easily defeat them in hand combat idk why i felt so worried anyway weoften moved around to avoid them altogether #but then the marley government suddenly felt the need to dispose us so me and the other marley warriors were put in a coluseum-like arena #to fight off other titans.... it felt super weird there were so many of them and fighting them off felt like fighting an entire ant colony #there were way too many of them i dont remember how the rest of my dream turned out i just remember squishing them 1 by 1 then #realizing its not an efficient way to kill them and so i was tryna think of some other way to kill many at once then i think the dream #ended #btw i didnt know which titan i was i just know im huge ok there were other marley warrior titan bigger than me as well #but i really couldnt figure out which type they were too #also there werent any AOT characters in there.. all my comrades faces were blurry...... #why do dreams always give off weird feelings.

ok so i figured out why the songs in the new disney movie Wish suck so bad - for the movie celebrating 100 years of mostly animated movie MUSICALS, they didn’t get a songwriter who writes MUSICALS. they got two POP songwriters (Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice, who’ve written for a lot of big stars like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, etc). despite lin-manuel’s faults, that man can cook up a song and had won a tony even before hamilton. there’s a reason moana and encanto went crazy. the anderson-lopezes made frozen and frozen II a HIT. maybe if they didnt have them chained to a desk writing two more frozen movies they could’ve worked on Wish instead. the ICON alan menken completed his EGOT from the daytime emmy he won for writing a song just for the tangled TV SERIES in 2020, and they couldnt even get him back?! for the movie celebrating 100 years of animated musicals?!!!

one of the directors of the film is Chris Buck, who did Tarzan - that movie only really has one or MAYBE two songs sung by the characters, and is mostly a soundtrack by Phil Collins instead. but thats a FULL soundtrack that was supposed to be pop the whole way through, not a musical.

one of the only times they got a pop songwriter to do an animated musical was Elton John for the Lion King, but he went on to write several popular musicals after that.

they got a big Broadway star like Ariana Debose, and a big Hollywood star who can really sing like Chris Pine, on that movie and gave them POP composers? for the 100th anniversary? this is the studio that made HAMLET WITH LIONS and a BOOK BY VICTOR HUGO into legendary animated musicals. what the FUCK happened? which executive made this stupid ass choice?

from then on, he was always somehow holding your hand, or had his head resting in your lap or something

Colby had only been gone for a couple days, and they called everynight, but it wasn't enough. Tommorow, she thought, Tommorow he'll be home. She was laying in his bed, wearing his xplr t- shirt and his boxers. She missed him. She needed him. Kat had come by earlier, but understood that she didn't want to talk.

Although most didn't understand, Colby and her friends knew about the incredibly close bond they shared. They knew about her anxiety, and about how she was incredibly codependent with Colby, so most didnt try to bother her too much.

It felt like she was grieving him even though he was alive and well, just states away. (Well, actually, hes about fifteen minutes away from his apartment, but she didnt know that.) What could she possibly do for a whole other day without him? Netflix isnt an option because she watched all her favorite shows with Colby, Obviously. And she didnt like leaving the house without Colby or atleast knowing hes able to come get her. He doesnt like me leaving either. The thought filled her with warmth. He liked having her, he liked her. They had been together for almost two years and yet she still felt like a giddy thirteen-year-old with a crush whenever she thought of him.

The pillow (Colby's pillow) was soaked in tears, and she couldnt help but get upset with herself over that fact. Colby didnt like her wasting tears when he wasn't around to see. Colby says im pretty when i cry. As she was about to collapse back down, eager to sleep away a couple hours without him, she heard a key unlocking the door, semi-quietly.

It had to be Kat. She was the only one who had a key that wasnt hours away. She loved Katrina, but she didnt think she could form a proper sentence. She decided to just pretend she had already been napping before Kat came in the room.

She didnt hear Kat call out like she normally does, maybe she figured i would be sleeping? She thought to herself as the door creaked open. The bed dipped and a familar, warm hand brushed away some of her hair.

"Hey baby." Colby's soft voice murmured. He rubbed her hairline a bit. As soon as she recognized that it was Colby, she practically jumped out from under the blankets.

Basically latched onto his side, tears ran freely out of her eyes as she gave him wet kisses all over the cheek.

"Your back! Your back!" Colby chuckled and rubbed her nape gently.

"Im back, Baby." He kissed her. Her face was buried in the side of his neck while she muffled out a question he couldn't make out. "Whats that sweetheart?" He asked as he scooped her up easily, bringing her out to the living room/kitchen and placing her on a bar stool, still wrapped in his blanket.

"How was your trip?" She repeated. They moved into their regular routine easily, as if his return had made the stars align. Colby poured two cups of orange juice and slid one to her before leaning over the counter to answer her.

gorgeous, very caring sister, strong duelist, and the only woman to ever make Seto Kaiba squirm

anyways. not only as mentioned above is she the first woman to make kaiba squirm, but she was by all means going to beat him if not for the millennium rod's millennium interference. yami marik admits that she's a strong duelist with a strategy that's been working for literal years-- and given that she's not like, a professional duelist, thats pretty impressive

she also recently got some really cool meta bumps and let me point out that an "ishizu deck" now includes obelisk the tormentor-- which we knew she had prior to giving it to kaiba, but i think it only solidifies my opinion that she very much could wield an Egyptian God Card, an exclusive little club for top tier duelists

as a character she presents herself with an amazing amount of poise and grace, shes compassionate and kind and stays with mai and serenity even though she only just met them. shes struggling through living the past 5 years of her life drowning in guilt for her family's tragedy just because she wanted to make her little brother happy and shadi is a fucking liar. shes foretold her own death and marches towards it grimly but with so much love in her heart. and even then shes 20 years old and holds an important position in the egyptian government that typically requires a doctorate degree AND has been dealing with mariks off-and-on bullshit entirely by her lonesome. she also likes to flex her fortunetelling a little which is awesome i think she should do that more that scene where she tells the guy exactly how the stele is being transported was so everything

speaking of shes got such an attitude. "is it your destiny to waste my time?" iconic. never seen before will never be seen again. watch the duel between her va and joeys its so fucking funny

shes excult. shes doesnt flinch in the face of god nor death. seto kaiba and yami marik respect her. shes so sad and so sweet and battle city couldnt have happened without her.

also her parallels with kaiba are what motivate kaiba to give yugi the card he needed to beat marik.

kaiba, in duelist kingdom, was ready to jump off a ledge if yugi didnt let him through to face pegasus while trying to save mokuba out of sheer desperation to save his little brother. he KNOWS what that dedication feels like and the iron kind of will you need to have to make that kind of gamble. isis is being so fucking legit with what shes saying and he respects that and her judgement enough to change his mind and not only watch the duel, but give yugi a card that eventually helps him win, even if he has no real confidence in the odds. but theres a CHANCE, which is the same thing he taught her when he beat her in a duel. the layers its her faith that moves him to act. which is so crazy

anyway vote isis shes my best friend forever and a real rep for all the 20 year olds who honest to god did not sign up for this bullshit

aki also nearly beats yusei TWICE in a duel, bringing it down to a single turn difference. she comes toe to toe with him, and it truly is the result of who dueled better. she remains a fierce duelist, btw. the second season, aki gets her duel runner license, and immediately nearly beats the ass of a tournament winning turbo duelist - to the point where once again, a single card is the deciding factor. that's right: she nearly won. if not for a single trap card, aki izayoi would've won.

His first priority is getting you back to normal, but when he hears that its only temporary and he just has to wait, he still doesn't calm down

You bet this man is pacing back and forth across the room, muttering to himself about why of all people it had to be you to be turned back into a kid

If you were a chaotic kid, that would only make him panic more

He would be ordering bull clones left and right to get you things and stuff so he didnt have to take his sights off of you

But if you were more of a calm kid he would relax more

dont get me wrong, he would definitely still be in panic mode, but...not as much as before

He would be more comfortable letting you out of his sights as long as there were bull clones around, ready to save you from whatever life or death situation you would find yourself in

His home is dangerous after all, there's literally traps and lava left and right

He would definitely make it a priority to make his house more baby-proof after this, just in case

If you would ever ask to play a game with him, he would agree, but his priority would be keeping you safe

He would refuse to ever play hide and seek or tag with you, those were way too dangerous

But he would be fine with playing

after you would turn back to normal this man would be clingy

He would have his arms wrapped around you, not letting you leave for even a second

Completely unlike RedSon, this man would not be panicking at all

Instead, he would be dying at how cute he thinks you are as a kid

Its been a couple weeks since the characters from your favorite childhood tv show suddenly appeared in your house. Youve slowly been getting used to it, although its been hard hiding them from the public eye. Well, Barnaby is 8ft tall after all. Its much easier to sneak Wally around, so you often spend more time with him and Julie. Although, and you would never tell the others this, you definitely preferred spending time with Wally. He was always your favorite character and you guessed that just bled into adult hood.

Over these past couple of weeks Wally had begun to cling to you. As soon as he appeared in your home it was like he already knew you. And, little did you know that he did know you, he's watched you since you were little, and you were always his favorite watcher. The longer he got to be by your side, the more he craved your attention. It was the most important thing to him now. And he almost felt guilty, all his friends were trying to figure out how to get home, but he never wanted to leave. He would even get irritated at his friends whenever they got to close to you or took to much of your attention, overall he seemed very snappy to everyone but you. You didnt seem to notice at all, until the day you were just flipping through some TV channels.

You didnt think it was a big deal, flipping some channels just to find something to watch. Wally was getting some beauty sleep and you were on the couch with Julie and Barnaby. They usually enjoyed more childish shows so you were scrolling through one of the kids channels when you came across Sesame Street, without really thinking about it, you put it on the TV to watch. You notice the tone in the room shift and suddenly a door from somewhere behind you slams open hitting a wall. Your head slams back as you look for whoever slammed the door, only to see Wally staring at the screen in absolute disdain, and you couldn't get over how terrifying it was. Wally never stopped smiling, but it was obvious that he was pissed as he walked over to the couch.

Wally just grabbed the remote, turning the TV off before turning back to look at you. "Sesame Street? Are you trying to replace us neighbor? Why would you want to replace us? We are supposed to be your favorite! I'M supposed to be your favorite!!" His voice was becoming more frantic, and you didnt even notice all the other puppets leaving the room as Wallys actions became desperate, walking closer and closer to you. He grabbed your hands, staring eye level with you although you were seated on the couch and he was standing.

"Wally...hey now..." He became even more desperate, pleading with you. "Please [Name], please dont leave us. Please dont abandon us. Dont abandon me..please please plea-" As tears streamed down your face you pulled Wally closer to you, causing him to go limp in your arms. You couldnt help this overwhelming sadness that took over you as you became desperate to help him, your favorite Wally Darling. "Hey, Wally. I'm never going to leave you, I will never replace you. For you and your neighbors, Welcome home will always be my favorite. No silly puppet show is going to change that. And you will always be my favorite, my Darling. So please Wally, never think like that again." Gently you grabbed Wallys face and placed kisses across it. You could feel Wally melting in your arms as he smiled up at you. "You really mean it neighbor?" You nod softly, smiling at him as you see his lovesick relieved expression. "Of course, and I'll always mean it Wally, even when you guys find your way back home."

Im not too sure how I feel about this one, but hopefully it lived up to expectations! Its a bit short since i wrote more but tumbler deleted it😭
