#I don’t remember if the start of the game takes place during an in-game weekend but if it does

I’ve been learning Norwegian with books and Duolingo for the last (almost) year and every time I read “helgen” I instantly think of the exact opposite of what I’m supposed to think of. Practicing Norwegian? Think of Skyrim. Playing Skyrim? Why is this town named “the weekend”? I can’t win. The wrong one is always the first to come to mind
#emma posts#Skyrim#game developers: open up a Norwegian dictionary and point to a word at random#that’s a town now#it could also be a joke or something#I don’t remember if the start of the game takes place during an in-game weekend but if it does#the town only lasted a weekend (to you)#but a weekend implies two days#maybe it’s a Swedish word or something instead#I haven’t gotten that far into Swedish and Icelandic uses a lot of different letters#they seem to have gotten rid of a lot of them on the continental Nordic countries#but I don’t know ANY danish and I have no concept of Faroese (I am so sorry if I massacred the spelling)#I don’t have a Swedish dictionary so I’d have to use google translate or something to check#Icelandic seems to have more words for things than Norwegian but I’m not really learning that language yet#my grandparents decided to try learning Icelandic first and I am like. in awe but also a bit sorry#they don’t really have a reason to learn Norwegian and Swedish though. unlike me#and apparently Icelandic is the hardest to learn. which is why I developed my fantastic learning strategy#Norwegian seems slightly easier to learn as a native English speaker than Swedish does. and Icelandic is obviously the hardest. but it’s#also closest to their shared ancestor (remember I’m talking about language) so if I start with Norwegian it will be easiest and then#with each of the other languages the next should be easier than it would be without the other two#Norwegian and Icelandic have an interesting history as related languages but that’s not important to this discussion#but… Icelandic is all the same and Norwegian and Swedish have a whole bunch of regional stuff and oh boy idk#but all I need to know for the foreseeable future is how to read and listen#I don’t need writing and speaking yet#this would be so much easier if my grandparents had not just switched to English and forgot any of the other languages they grew up with#though the Icelandic ones didn’t speak much at all compared to my dad’s parents who spoke some of theirs as kids#I could know even more languages by now if everyone hadn’t just switched to English. though I keep forgetting how to write Spanish. that’s#only half related though. since it’s the second most popular language in my country we had some classes as kids and some media that was#bilingual but not enough for me to ever be fluent. plus I freeze up any time I try conversation because I get too nervous about making#mistakes. I’m so off track in the tags though

Can You Show Me?
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x Female!Reader
Word Count: 1.9k
Summary: Rafe finds out that you have never finished during sex. What happens when you ask him to show you and he is more than willing to be a good friend and help?
Warnings: 18+, fanon!Rafe (?), smut (f receiving), fingering, nipple play, teasing
Tumblr media
It was a typical summer weekend in OBX; another party and another drinking game played at the Cameron household. The current game was a classic- never have I ever. Basic ones were thrown around like every party, such as drunk called an ex, snuck out of the house, or slid into someone’s DM’s. After several rounds and drinks, it got spicier.
“Okay, my turn!” yelled Abby, a girl from your school, “Never have I ever had an orgasm during sex.”
Everyone took a drink, even Abby. Kelce looked over at her, “What the hell Abby? The whole point of the game is to say something you haven’t done to get everyone else to drink!”
The group was so preoccupied with giving her crap that no one noticed you failed to take a drink; well, everyone except Rafe, that was.
Not long after, the party started to dwindle down. The last few people left Tannyhill, leaving you and Rafe to clean up the mess. It wasn’t uncommon for you to stay the night and crash at Rafe’s, considering you two had been best friends for as long as you can remember.
You had a system in place for cleanup, Rafe took the living room, and you took the kitchen, trying to throw as many cups and bottles away as possible before you went to sleep. The only sound coming from the house was music playing as you were too tired to have a conversation wanting to get finished.
When you were finally done, you made your way to Rafe’s room where he tossed you a t-shirt and shorts to change into. Once dressed, you left the bathroom and walked out to find Rafe shirtless in bed with your side ready for you. You climbed in and got on your phone to scroll through Instagram.
“You didn’t drink,” he stated bluntly; he locked his phone and set it on his side table.
“What?” you questioned, locking your phone and getting comfortable.
Rafe placed his hands behind his head and looked over at you with a smirk growing on his face, “During the game, you didn't drink about having an orgasm during sex.”
You could feel your cheeks grow warm, “I don’t know what you’re talking about; yes, I did.”
“Uh, no. I watched you, and you definitely didn’t,” he cocked his head and threw you a look, knowing you were lying. You refused to answer.
“Wait, you’ve really never had an orgasm during sex?” he questioned while letting out a small laugh out of disbelief.
You angrily turned around and pulled the covers closer to your body “Please don't make fun of me, Rafe. It’s embarrassing and-”
“I’m not making fun of you, alright? I'm just surprised is all,” he interrupted.
You turned around to face him, “It’s not like I've had plenty of experience with sleeping around. I can count on one hand how many guys I’ve been with, and none of them really cared enough about me or how I was feeling during sex to make sure I finished.”
“Fuck them then,” He said,” you don't deserve that, and I promise not every guy is like that.”
You didn’t know how to answer, so you both stayed quiet. You couldn’t help but notice the growing tension in the room nor stop the thoughts of wishing Rafe would be the guy who did care enough.
You could tell Rafe wasn’t asleep yet by the way he was breathing. “Rafe, can I ask you something?”
“Hmm?” he turned on his side to face you.
“Actually, never mind. It’s really stupid,” you tried to shake out the thought.
“I bet it’s not. What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?” he coaxed, attempting to get you to continue.
“Can you show me what it’s like?” You let the words flow out too fast and slurred for Rafe to fully understand what you were asking and closed your eyes tightly to avoid his reaction. If he said no, you could easily pass it off as having too much to drink and not thinking clearly. Rafe quickly sat up in bed.
“You- you want me to show you?” he stuttered out uncharacteristically of his usual confident and cocky self.
“I don’t know why I said that. I probably drank too much, so just forget it. I think I'm gonna sleep in Sarah’s room tonight,” you tried to get out of his bed but failed as he stopped you by gripping your arm.
“I’m not just gonna forget you said that. You and I both know you barely drank anything,” objected. “Fuck, did you really mean it?”
“Maybe…” you trailed off, looking around at anything in his room but his eyes.
“Hey, look at me,” he demanded.
You took a deep breath and turned to face him, your eyes meeting. “It’s just- I know you're experienced and the person I'm most comfortable with.”
“If this is what you want, I’ll do it. I need to hear you say it,” he emphasized.
“I want you to, Rafe,” you confessed with a shaky voice. Your hands found your shirt to remove it, but he stopped you.
“You don’t need to do that, at least not yet. This is gonna be different than the other times you’ve had because we won't actually be having sex,” he stated. He sat higher in bed and placed a couple of pillows behind his back.
You looked at him confused, “Then how is this supposed to work?”
“You do know there are other ways to achieve this, right? It’s not about me tonight, but all about you,” his signature smirk made its way onto his lips. “Come sit with your back facing me.”
Your legs felt heavy, and your heart was pounding. This is Rafe we’re talking about- you’re best friend, the guy you’ve been in love with for years. Was this just a dream? The sound of Rafe patting the place next to him drew you out of your thoughts. You walked over to the bed and sat down. His hands found their way around your waist and pulled you flush against his bare chest.
“Relax, okay? I’m gonna ease you into it, and if at any point you want me to stop, you let me know, and we stop,” he whispered in your ear. You shook your head in agreement.
You felt his warm breath on your neck as if he was hesitating- and maybe he was. Maybe he’s just as nervous as me. He placed a kiss on your shoulder and slowly began to trail upward.
When his lips finally met your neck, you felt a shiver run down your spine. The sudden movement made his lips curl up, knowing damn well the kind of effect a simple kiss was having on you. You felt yourself sink deeper into his chest and tilt your head to give him better access. His right hand moved from your hip and crept under your shirt, placing it on your stomach. His touch burned your skin.
Rafe continued up to the sweet spot behind your ear and back down, settling right below the nape of your neck. His lips felt like velvet against your skin, and slowly but surely, you felt him begin to suck on your skin, claiming you in what you’re sure will be a mark in the morning.
You were so caught up in the feeling that you didn’t notice his hand moving further up your shirt. The same time his teeth hit your sensitive skin, his thumb brushed against your sports bra-covered nipple, causing a soft moan to escape your lips.
“That feel good, baby?” He teased. He called you baby. You nodded in response despite knowing he didn’t need an answer.
He raised his other hand and placed both on your breasts, kneading the plush flesh. Every time his fingers ran over your nipples, your pulse picked up. Not wanting the thin fabric of your bra to impede Rafe’s touch any longer, you leaned forward and threw your shirt and bra over your head and onto the floor. Your nipples pebbled at the sudden coldness in the air.
Rafe chuckled at your sudden outburst and let his hands wander back up your chest. His fingertips circled your areolas and inched toward your now bare nipples. He ran his thumbs over them and began to toy with them, gently rolling and tugging the sensitive buds.
He dropped one hand to the waistband of your shorts, silently asking permission to continue. When you didn’t protest, his fingers slipped under. His index finger lightly brushed past your clit and to your folds slick with arousal.
“Shit, babe. You’re already so wet for me,” he removed his hand to get a look at his finger.
“Oh,” You tried to close your legs in embarrassment at his comment, but he grabbed onto your thighs. It wasn’t something you ever heard the other guys say.
“That’s not a bad thing, it’s supposed to happen if you’re a guy taking his time and not just trying to get a fix. Let's make the next part a lot easier, take your pants off,” commanded, and you complied, lifting slightly off the bed so you could pull your pants down your legs and onto the floor. He hooked his feet under your ankles so your legs rested on his to spread your legs apart.
Rafe’s hands roamed around your body and trailed down to your slit. He repeatedly ran his finger from the front to the back slowly, ensuring his finger was wet enough before his fingertip made contact with your clit. He started lightly circling your clit, causing pressure to build in your core.
Hearing your breathing grow louder caused him to speed up and apply more pressure when he stopped. You were about to protest but stopped when he slipped one finger inside you and pumped it in and out.
“Feels so good,” you whined, enjoying how his finger felt.
“Can you take another?” he questioned.
“Please, Rafe!” you begged him. He inserted a second finger going deeper and faster. If his fingers felt this good, you couldn't help but wonder how his tongue would feel. His thumb brushed against your clit, causing pressure to bloom in your lower abdomen.
“Fuck, Rafe! I'm so close!” you let out a loud moan. It was hard to ignore the growing bulge in Rafe’s pants.
“That’s it. Come for me, baby girl,” he demanded in your ear. The pressure built until you finally let go. You threw your head back and pushed further into Rafe, feet digging into the bed as you rode out your high.
Your breathing was fast and heavy as you collapsed against Rafe. He removed his fingers and wrapped his arms around you, holding you close.
“You okay?” he asked, kissing your shoulder blade.
“More than okay,” you let out a laugh. Once you calmed down, you rolled over to your spot in the bed, throwing your discarded shirt back on.
Rafe looked over and met your eyes. He reached out his hand and placed it on your cheek, leaning over to give you a soft kiss on your lips. His head rested on yours before pulling away. “Didn’t know hearing you moan my name would turn me on so much.”
“Do you want me to take care of that for you?” you motioned toward his obvious erection.
Rafe smirked and shook his head, “Nah, I got it. Tonight was about you, remember? Besides, you can just make it up to me next time.”
Next time?

Goodbye Too Soon | Luke Hughes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: the rise and fall of love was always meant to hurt but maybe with Luke it wasn’t your end?
request: yes/no
warnings: semi-angst, swearing, underaged drinking.
word count: 2.48k
authors note: just like that I’ve written for Luke again and now Angst Week is finished! I’ve realised too that Luke is one man I can’t write angst for because this was so hard. I left the end more open because it started to sound like a decent series so let me know if you want it!
Tumblr media
Love was something you never quite understood.
You knew that you were bound to feel it eventually, yet you never thought that it would be this soon. Luke came into your life in your freshman year during orientation weekend.
The atmosphere was strong as the seniors were convincing certain freshmen to join the drinking competitions “shit!” Your white shirt was quickly turning brown as the wet fabric revealed your blue bra beneath it “oh my god.” Luke brought his hand to his mouth as he dropped the empty cup.
Embarrassment flooded the boys mind as his eyes widened “I’m so sorry.” He blurted out having a loss for words as he truthfully had no clue what to do “it’s fine.” Your teeth gritted as you felt your skin grow sticky by what you could only assume has something to do with the coke in his drink.
Luke’s panic only increased when he realised how your bra was playing a losing game of hide’n’seek “here.” Luke was quick to take the flannel off of his shoulders as he held it out for you to grab “I’m good.” You shook your head sighing as you wondered how you were going to clean your shirt.
It only made the boy feel worse “please.” He pleaded with you clearly not prepared to leave with you having your bra on display “okay.” You nodded sending him a soft smile as you took the piece of clothing from him.
The flannel encapsulated you in this warmth as you were practically drowned in fabric “now could I get you a new drink?” A toothy grin covered your face as you giggled “I don’t even know your name.” You pointed out as you buttoned up portions of the flannel to cover your shirt.
That part was true as you hadn’t met him yet, even if Luke spent the entire week watching you from afar “Luke Hughes.” He held his hand out for you to shake “y/n l/n.” You explained as you sent him a smile that he’d remember for the rest of his life, regardless of if you were ever going to be more than an acquaintance.
It seemed that from that night on you guys were only ever met to grow closer as before you knew it you were going to hockey games wearing Luke’s jersey like it was a badge of honor with his name proudly displayed on your back. Love came at you in ways you didn’t expect like with the shadows of the night. And before you knew it you had fallen for Luke, both literally and in love.
It was cold as Luke had somehow convinced you to join the team and their families for the weekend where the family skate took place “I got you okay?” Luke smiled as he watched your hands tense around his “remind me to kill you when we get home.” Your grumble caused a laugh to escape his lips.
You scoffed as he continued to skate backwards “this should have been something you knew was going to happen when I became your best friend.” It was now your turn to laugh “whose say you’re my best friend?” You shot back leaving his lips pursed into a thin line.
He didn’t need to respond as he dropped your hands giving you a push to continue skating “Luke!” You squealed shaking your head as you grew unimpressed “you wanted to tell me I’m your best friend now?” His request made you laugh.
A smile formed on his lips at the sound “alright you big goof you’re my best friend!” With that his hand wrapped around your waist pulling you in close as he helped you steady yourself on the ice “now that wasn’t so hard was it?” Luke mumbled sending you a grin as you rolled your eyes.
He stopped freezing as he looked at you staring down between your eyes and your lips “you’re a little shit.” You laughed as you shook your head ignoring how he made you feel.
You began to fall in love with Luke and for each week you tried to deny it you were only falling deeper in love with the curly haired boy. You knew that you could try and act like he was just a friend. But that only got you so far when you’d watch him get close to other girls leaving you tight lipped.
Luke let his hands wrap around your waist as he pulled you into his lap “you wanna tell me what’s wrong?” He mumbled pressing a kiss on your shoulder as you had been quiet all night “you make me so mad.” You confessed furrowing your brows as you swore you wouldn’t let your emotions get the best of you.
He frowned letting concern wash over his face “you flirt with all of these girls and it’s just-” a sigh escaped from your lips as he smirked “you just want my attention huh?” Luke teased running his thumb over your lips as you nodded hating how he made you feel so open.
The boy wasn’t one for leaving you in your embarrassment for long “good thing I want all your attention then too.” He smiled leaning forward as his hand moved to your chin “god you’re going to kill me.” You gasped as his lips finally hit yours.
It seemed that within seconds his hands went to your ass as yours wrapped around his shoulders. You moaned at the feeling of his cock forming a tent in his shorts. The hockey player was in awe as the sweet taste of your lipgloss had him feeing drunk, even with one drink in his system.
Neither one of you knew how long you had been there for as his lips began to nip your jaw “oi love birds are you going to play beer pong or not?” Marks words made you pull away from Luke as you sighed “this isn’t over Hughesy.” You mumbled running your nails over his shoulder as his hand rested on your thigh.
As you got up the boy nodded “better not.” His hand locked in with yours letting you pull him into the crowd.
It was that night that he had asked you out and quickly you began the perfect relationship that everyone grew jealous of. If only someone had a crystal ball to predict the future. Maybe then you would have valued the smaller moments more.
Your laughter echoed through the house as Luke smothered you with soft pecks “god I can’t believe I left you.” He announced to himself leaving his friends to roll their eyes “you left her for one night.” Mark reminded the boy causing you both to look at him.
Whilst Luke sent him a glare you couldn’t help but run your fingers through Luke’s hair “don’t be mad that Lukey here missed me.” You announced making the boy furrow his eyebrows “I think it’s sweet.” Your words made Luke smile as he turned to face you.
All you had to do was nod to make the boy finally kiss you properly leaving you with an even larger grin on your face with Luke scooped your into his arms opting to get rid of the audience and take you up to his room “don’t make us uncles!” The boys called out before the door shut.
Yet as the saying goes, all things that come up must come down. Yet you never thought that you’d crash and burn in the ways that you did. It was the morning of the boys frozen four game in Florida when you got the text.
Luke 💗: this isn’t working out anymore, I’m moving to the Devils and think we should go our own ways.
You responded to his message like any normal person would who had just been dumped over text. Luke wasn’t surprised to see the flurry of messages that came in all from you but he knew that if he came to you he would still be with you. And in the fucked up world that his brothers spoke so highly of, loving you from afar was meant to be easy. Leaving you like that was also meant to be easer for you to move on if you thought he was an ass.
Junior year at UMich felt like a foreign drink that you hated on your tongue. Luke was a shadow everywhere you looked and it had you thinking their was a bad smell you couldn’t get rid of. Your friends tried all that they could to help you move on yet there was only so much they could do if you weren’t going to listen.
To say that you were a fraction of yourself was an understatement. You found yourself sat in your dorm most nights as you felt sorry for yourself staring at the old memories in the form of photos and old hoodies, you could never bear to get rid of.
Yet all of that changed on your birthday, it was the one day you were forced to share with Luke as your birthday fell on the same date. Your friends and his old teammates believed alike that you needed a day to let loose. That’s how you all landed up at a bar where your handful of legally aged friends were on duty buying drinks for the group.
At first it was fun and you enjoyed it, feeling the reminders of why you loved seeing your friends having fun with you. But as the DJ changed the song opting for one from ABBA. It had you feeling like a bubble was burst over your head and you were drenched in the reminder of those memories.
It was cold in Michigan as Luke was preparing to leave you for the winter break “stop for a sec.” He muttered to himself as you had been packing gifts for his parents into his bag “I need to finish this.” You pointed out clicking your tongue as his hands found their place on your hips.
He smiled as you dropped the box on his clothes “you’re such a gorgeous girl.” Luke confessed as your hands found their place on his shoulders “not so bad yourself.” You giggled pressing a kiss against his cheek shutting the gap between you both.
The soft hums of the song echoed in your ears “digging the dancing queen!” The hockey player sang as he swayed your hips back and forth “you’re a teaser you turn ‘em on.” You laughed when he spun you around leaving your back against his chest as he left his head nuzzled against your shoulder.
You guys stayed there for a few moments “I’m so in love with you.” His confession made your cheeks feel warm “don’t think those were the lyrics.” You teased turning back to face him.
As the boy panicked not knowing how to respond you smiled “I love you too.” Your lips were soft on his leaving you wanting to stay there forever.
You felt as though bile was building up in your throat when you forced you way out of the bar. Passers by were waved off as you placed your hands on your knees attempting to do everything in your power to stop yourself from falling forward. Your head tilted upwards in an attempt to force more air into your lungs as you opened up your phone go it into your contacts.
It took little to no effort to find his contact as you shifted into muscle memory not caring for this one moment of lapsed judgement “hey it’s Luke, I can’t get to the phone right now so if it’s important call Quinn or I’ll get back to you!” His voicemail made you smile as you remembered learning how irritated Jack got by the mention of his older brother “god I’m meant to hate you.” You began as you clicked your tongue.
The air around you grew colder “but no I still like you and I sure as hell fucking love you.”
Tears began to roll down your cheeks as just on cue rain began to drop from the sky “why couldn’t you have cheated on me or something so I could move on!” You grew angry as you clenched your hand around your phone.
There was a subtle reminder that the message was going to stop recording soon “I don’t know why I sent you this because you haven’t even listens to the last ones.” A huff left your lips as the line went dead leaving you to run your fingers through your hair as you felt defeated.
The rain brought this level of calm that you hadn’t felt in a while letting it wrap you up in a blanket as you were growing unsure of what was tears and what was rainwater “there you are birthday girl, c’mon!” Rutger cheered as he found where you were stood.
All the way in New Jersey stood a similar scene. Luke wasn’t interested in celebrating his birthday, not without you by his side. Yet he still ended up drunk and curled into his blanket as Jack tucked him in “I miss her.” Luke confessed letting out a sob as the build a bear you got him sat in his arms.
Jack frowned slipping his brother’s phone into his pocket “I know you do bud but she isn’t calling and you need to focus on your hockey.” Jack sighed getting up before the turned the light off seeing that Luke was already asleep.
The notification of your voicemail stood in front of him like a calling to stop trying to meddle in his brother’s life “I do this for him.” Jack reminded himself as he deleted the voicemail not bothering to check it.
Sure someone might wonder what Jack was doing in that moment, truthfully he was beginning to ask himself that too. But after his own horrible rookie season Jack knew the last thing Luke needed was to be waiting for a girl that wasn’t even in his state.
College romances were meant to only last a few months or a year tops. It was why Jack didn’t feel guilty about lying to Luke about how you sent at least one voicemail each month. in trying to protect his baby brother through righting his own previous wrongs Jack lost sight of the most important thing, Luke.
Some might say that luck was on Luke’s side though, or maybe it was the divine act of fate that could withhold a brother’s stupidity. Because this wasn’t the end of your story with Luke. No instead this was the beginning of it, and your reunion was set at Little Caesars Arena. So the true question was were you both willing to get there or were you going to find new people as stops along the way back to where you belonged?

Mature (Dr. Spencer Reid x College Student)
Tumblr media
(Summary: The BAU gets a case that takes place near a college campus, and one student seems to catch Reid’s attention. There is a bit of an age gap. This is based during the end of Season 6. Warnings: Talk of cannibalism, gun violence)
“Remember class: Monday’s exam will have 150 questions and no makeups. Remember to study hard!”
My dental hygiene professor finally releases us, signaling the beginning of the weekend. It’s currently 5:30 on a sunny but crisp Friday in October. Nothing special, but the lack of leaves and chilly frosts makes it one of my favorite seasons. But I can’t take too much time to watch the weather- I’ve got work to do.
Of course I’m the only student who dares to sit in the front of the lecture hall, and I take my time to gather up my things as the others start filing out.
“You going to the game tonight?” One guys asks his friends.
“Yeah it’s gonna be sick! You’re bringing the beer, right?”
“Sure am! And what about-” He whispers: “The pot?”
Their conversation dies away as the walk out of the room, leaving me to shake my head in disappointment. No doubt their whole weekend will involve drinking, getting high, and possible sexual content. More than likely they’ll fail the exam.
“Merrian! Are you coming to the game?” I hear one classmate, Regina, ask.
“No, I can’t. I’m going for a jog and then starting my flashcards for the exam.”
Regina, one of the more popular and *cough* snobby girls gives me a fake smile. “Oh you never go to any social events! Why not give that brain a break and be a college student for once?”
I just shake my head and continue to look through my notes. “I am being a college student, only I’m being a smart one and actually trying to get through this class without depleting any brain cells through alcohol abuse.”
But my insult flies right over Regina’s head. She just keeps smiling, turns and walks away, leaving me (no surprise) alone again. But it appears today has something else in store, because the door opens and my professor walks back in leading a group of people who look way too professional for a place like this. The one that appears to be the leader is tall, dark-haired, and is wearing a traditional business suit. The man following next to him appears to be of Italian descent and is wearing a dark suit similar to the leader’s. Next is a blonde woman wearing- quite honestly, one of the most unique outfits I’ve ever seen. It’s a purple and blue patterned dress, hot pink heels, and a big purple bow with her hair in pigtails (it almost puts my current Veronica Sawyer gray skirt and blue blazer outfit to shame). Another man is bald with darker skin and a more athletic build, wearing a more laid-back style of clothing, obviously the muscle of the group. And last behind him is- huh. He’s a lot younger (and much cuter) than the others, one might say a few years older than me. He’s dark-haired like the other men and wearing slacks with a white shirt with a gray vest and blue tie, almost matching me. But what stands apart from his attire is the pistol tucked in a holster attached to his belt. It’s almost like the one I’ve got tucked under my skirt (for protection, of course). Are these guys from the police station? They don’t look like local authorities.
But sadly I’m still in the front and am caught looking.
“Who’s the model?” The blonde with pigtails asks, making me turn pink.
My professor finally notices me. “Oh yes. This is Merrian, one of my students. She’s just packing up-”
“On the contrary, it might be nice to have a younger person’s opinion on this matter,” the Italian agent speaks.
A younger opinion?
“By the way, I love your blazer!” The blonde squeals and rushes over to get a better look.
I title my head. “Not too bad yourself, Barbie.”
But the leader doesn’t seem too impressed. “At ease, Garcia. Remember why we’re here.”
The blonde nods and backs off, leaving me facing the group head-on.
“Is she trustworthy? We need to keep this as confidential as possible,” the athlete says.
My professor nods her head. “Merrian is one of the most dedicated students I have. I guarantee she’ll give you her best effort.”
“Very well.” The leader steps forward to shake my hand. “I’m FBI Agent Hotchner of the BAU. These are Agents Rossi, Morgan, Garcia, and Dr. Reid.” He points to each agent, and when he introduces Agent Reid I can’t help but notice his body language shifts. He keeps playing with his hands and changing his footing, and isn’t as relaxed as the other agents. Maybe he just drank coffee.
I give a small wave. “Hello. So, what is it you guys do? Obviously you’re a government department but I’ve never really paid attention to that stuff.”
“Don’t you watch the news?” The blonde ‘Garcia’ asks.
“Nope.”
This answer gets me surprised reactions, especially from Reid.
“Why not?”
Yes, he’s definitely younger. His voice reminds me of the smart nerd type, but with my educational history I’ve never actually been able to meet many smart guys so it’s very new to hear this.
I shrug. “Ignorance is bliss. I figure if there’s something that’s truly important that’ll affect me then I’ll hear about it sooner or later. I try not to let the fear that strands from current events control my life.”
“Ok. Then to catch you up, we have a potential threat that’s been sited near the edge of town. There’s a man who’s been catching people in hunting traps and then eating them.”
Uh- Oh my! Was not expecting that.
I try to keep a steady face. “Alright. So what does this have to do with me?”
“Your current study of dental work, plus the unsub seems to prefer female victims,” Reid speaks up. “There’s one witness who managed to escape his trap, but not before he bit her. We’ve been able to analyze the teeth marks, but it doesn’t match the correct dental records. They show the unsub’s supposed to be someone who died 10 years ago. We checked the death certificate and sure enough the body’s buried in a nearby cemetery. Do you have any ideas why?”
I take a deep breath and try to piece together what I’ve learned so far. I’ve only been in this program for a year, but that doesn’t mean I’m useless.
“Take your time,” Agent Rossi assures. “It doesn’t have to be much, just anything we might have missed-”
I snap. “I got it! Have any of you guys ever seen the movie The Whole Nine Yards with Bruce Willis?”
Most shake their heads, but then Reid seems to follow my idea.
“Of course! Why didn’t I think of that? Brilliant, Marrian!”
“Excuse me, mind letting us in on your inside joke?” Agent Morgan questions.
“At the end of the movie, they modify another body’s teeth to match Bruce Willis’ character and then burn it in a fire so the mafia will think he’s dead. What if this unsub had dental work done so he couldn’t be traced? ” My explanation starts the agents sparking up new conversations, leaving me to believe I might have actually just helped solve an FBI case.
“I know it’s not the type of professional answer you might have wanted.”
“That’s just the kind of insight we were looking for,” Agent Hotchner finally addresses me. “Thank you, Merrian. We’ll be sure to stay in touch and inform you if this threat is neutralized.”
He walks out, followed by Morgan. But the others linger for a moment.
“You’re taking all of this surprisingly well,” Rossi points out. “Ever consider becoming a profiler?”
I chuckle. “I did once, a few years ago. Sociology is one of my favorite subjects to learn, but I’ve just used that as a hobby. When I looked further into the job description I decided I wanted a career that wouldn’t take so much out of my free time. So for now I’m sticking with dental hygiene.”
He nods. “Well if you change your mind, here’s my card.” He hands me his contact info and exits after the other 2 agents.
“Tell me- where did you get your shoes?” Garcia asks when she points to my feet.
“Oh. Um, Goodwill actually.” I’m a bit embarrassed to say I’m a thrifter, but in college all money must go to classes.
“They’re so cute! I’ll email you my list of favorite thrift websites later,” she remarks as she walks to the door.
“B- But Agent Garcia you don’t have my email-?”
“I’ll find it.” She winks. “And call me Penelope!”
She gives Reid a smirk and shuts the door, leaving me alone with the last agent.
“I gotta ask, how old are you?”
My blunt question doesn’t seem to be new to him. “30.”
I was right!
“Sorry for asking, but it’s just very different-”
“To see someone like me on a government bureau team,” he finishes. “It’s ok, lots of people ask. I could say the same thing about you.”
I frown. “What do you mean?”
He mirrors my confusion. “Aren’t you close to my age?”
“I’m 22.”
Reid’s eyes widen. “No way! You look- I mean, you seem- Um… you don’t act 22.”
I chuckle and go to grab my backpack. “I get that a lot. My mom says I’m more mature than most people my age, which means I have to be forced to associate with immature peers. I just hope other people never assume I’m the typical college type. You know, drugs, drinking, sex, procrastination. I’ve never even gone to one party. I apologize for the idiots you might come across here.”
I expect the FBI agent to leave it at that and go off to find his team, but instead he jogs up behind and walks with me down the hall.
“No I don’t see you like that, it’s just… you’re definitely more mature, and seem more clear-headed than the other students I’ve seen here so far.
I hold my head back and laugh. “Oh, no. By no means am I as smart as you might think. I have what I call ‘selective knowledge.’ I never picked just one topic I like, so I find bits and pieces of information about all kinds of topics. But not too much in depth that I’m an expert. With what I know about you so far I’d say you’re way more smart.”
He looks down. “Yeah, kinda.”
“Spill it. What’s your education background?”
“Um… I’ve got PhDs in mathematics, chemistry, and engineering. Bachelor’s in psychology, sociology, and in the process of one in philosophy.”
I stop dead in my tracks and turn to look at him with wide eyes. “And you’re downplaying that? Jesus, you’ve got more knowledge stuffed in your brain then I’d ever have in 5 lifetimes! Why choose a job in the BAU?”
He considers this. “I find that I do some of my best work under intense terror.”
I nod. “It’s nice to know what type of job works best. I’ve jumped around different jobs, and still haven’t found one that fits right. As for the terror thing, props to you for dealing with that on a daily basis.”
Dr. Reid seems surprised. “Hm. You don’t mind crazy talk, do you?”
I stifle a laugh and hold the next door open for him to pass. “‘Crazy talk?’ What’s that?”
“Talking about subjects that any random passerby would find odd, like murder or psychological disease.”
“You’re talking to someone who watches The Conjuring as a comfort film. I don’t call that crazy talk, I call that enjoyable conversation,” I smile cheekily as he walks past me through the doorway. “You gonna go find your team now?”
Reid clears his throat and bites his lip. “Well, um… Since the unsub’s been sighted near the city I should make sure to get you to your dorm safely.”
This unsub must be pretty dangerous for him to be this anxious. Or is it something else that’s got him so worried? I must say it feels nice to have a smart guy to talk with who’s actually taking the time to make sure I’m safe instead of daring me to chug a beer.
“Aw, that’s sweet. But I don’t live in a dorm, I live in a small rented room downtown.”
“Really? I guess you really aren’t like normal students. So where are you going now?”
Is he asking professionally or out of curiosity?
“There’s a secret spot I have in the theatre lab. Dark and quiet with a nice table. Good for studying.”
He perks up. “Dark? Do you think you could show me?”
I shrug and start leading him to the lab, pushing my sleeve back to check my watch. “Sure, just don’t tell anyone. I like having a place where stupidity is at a minimum.”
Reid gets a wide grin on his face and follows eagerly. “Your secret’s safe with me. It’s kind of embarrassing but lately I’ve been dealing with- Oh my gosh! Are you hurt?”
I follow his gaze to my arm, which has gauze wrapped around it. I’m surprised he noticed- usually people don’t give it a second thought.
“Wha-? Oh, no. I donated plasma earlier today and have to keep this on for 2 hours.”
“I see. Do you get paid?”
“Yup. If they’re willing to pay me to sit in a chair for an hour, money is money. Gotta pay the college bills somehow. So what have you been dealing with?”
“Right. Um, I’ve had these headaches for a while now and none of the doctors I’ve seen can tell me what’s wrong. They’re triggered by bright lights, so that’s why I like to find dark places to think.”
Hearing this makes me sad, especially since a nice guy like him shouldn’t have to go through something like that.
“Then don’t have me keep ya waiting. Here we are!”
Now we’re at the theatre lab and when I open the door to let him in, Reid . “So then how are you liking your dental hygiene clinicals?”
I set my backpack down and switch a small light on. “I like it, but it’s more of a job that pays well and allows me free time. Next summer I’m looking into a program that gives me a certificate in culinary pastry design-” I stop myself before I start ranting. “Sorry, I don’t mean to talk your ear off. People don’t always listen this long so I usually just talk to keep away any awkward silence. Americans are intimidated by it, you know.”
Agent Reid just nods and sits down on a nearby stool. “I don’t mind. I like hearing you talk.”
“But it’s not as intellectual as you’re used to.”
“Maybe not, but- how should I describe it? You’re like a funfetti cake.”
Reid’s analogy makes me giggle and give him an odd look. “Um, thanks? How so?”
“Because you’re not just one flavor. You bring a sprinkling of all different topics, and none of them are boring or immature. Go ahead, continue.” Reid sits back as if he’s sitting in for a lecture, and I’m the teacher.
“Um… ok. So anyways, between work, school, and all my other hobbies it’s no surprise when I keep telling my mom I haven't gone on a date-”
“Wait, seriously?” Reid interrupts. “You’ve never gone on a date?”
I try to ignore the heat rushing to my cheeks and go turn on the music speaker. “Never got a chance to. Back in high school I was more introverted and read all the time. Now no one wants to be around a boring, mature college student who dresses… like this.” I gesture to my unusual outfit.
“Hm. I’d think you would’ve been able to find at least one decent guy.”
I’m not sure if he’s kidding or just trying to be nice.
“Don’t make me laugh. Even the few guys I’ve talked to see me as a colleague or acquaintance, not even friendship status. I’ve steered clear of all the red flags and bad habits college kids typically get into, and it’s gotten me this far. All I’ve got is some family, my cat, and my brain.”
Reid doesn’t say anything, and a part of me is glad for it while the other half is a nervous wreck. While I don’t want to really get into the details of my miserable social life, at the same time I’m strangely anxious about what the handsome doctor thinks of me.
“It’s the musical season, isn’t it? I can tell you’re a fan.” How does he-? “I’m guessing on account of the Newsies sticker on your water bottle and your outfit that resembles Veronica Sawyer from Heathers.”
A smile grows on my face. “Oh! A profiling genius and a theatre fan! You’ve got quite the brain, Dr. Reid.”
“I actually only recently got interested in it after watching one of Garcia’s plays- oh! You actually remembered!” Reid scratches his head and smiles. “Thanks, that means a lot.”
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“People don’t always address me by my full title. So what’s on your agenda now?” He seems to rethink and adds: “Not that I’m being nosy!”
His curiosity isn’t uncomfortable for me. If anything it’s nice to have someone take an interest.
“I was going to practice for musical auditions, but since you’re here I’ll just do some homework.”
“Oh I don’t mind! Really! I won’t laugh, promise,” Reid says sincerely.
“No, no. I do my best work alone, as always.”
He frowns. “That’s not a healthy mindset.”
I chuckle darkly. “I’m not exactly the ‘teamwork makes the dreamwork’ kinda gal. I’ve always done best on my own, so I don’t argue it-”
“Attention, attention!” The intercom starts blasting an alarm overhead. “There has been a potential shooter spotted near the edge of campus. All students, staff, and visitors are to head immediately towards a sheltered area. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill!”
Agent Reid immediately goes alert and checks his pistol. “We better get to a more secure location. Come with me!”
He goes for the door, but I don’t see a reason to leave.
“No, you go find your team. I’ll stay here. It’s a hidden spot, anyway.”
But Reid shakes his head with concern and takes my hand. “No, I can’t allow that. If the unsub is here he’ll go after you. You’re his type, Marrian, and I won’t let you get hurt.”
Wow. I’m sure he’s just doing his job. Still it’s becoming incredibly difficult to ignore the growing affection for the geeky agent. And it doesn't help that normally I’m a very anti-touching person.
He pulls out a cell phone and dials a number. “Hotch, this is Reid. What’s your location?” After a few moments he says: “Yes, I’m here with the student we interviewed in the theatre lab. We’ll meet you there. Yeah I know, we’ll be careful.” Reid seems to notice my slight reaction to his physical touch and his hold tightens. “I need you to stick close to me, understand?”
I nod and follow him out. “This is… definitely not what I planned for a regular Friday evening, but as my mom always says I need to stay open-minded. Lead the way, Dr. Reid!”
His stern face lightens by a fraction. “Um, you can call me Spencer if you want.”
Is- Is he trying to flirt? Seriously, I wouldn’t know. Somebody tell me!
“Isn’t that less professional? I thought you FBI guys were all suits and no humor.”
He doesn’t answer and triple-checks the hallway before signaling the all-clear. We quietly make our way to the main office, and the whole time I’m trying to ignore Reid’s hand clutching mine.
“We'll be able to-”
“Look out!” I push Spencer out of the way just as a bullet flies past my head, but I’m not too lucky with the second one. It buries itself in my left shoulder blade and the sudden force sends me crashing to the cold floor.
“Oh my God!” Reid shouts and kneels down to address my wound.
“Well hello, my pretty,” a deep sinister voice chuckles. A figure in a black hood lurks out from the corner, with a hunting rifle pointed directly at Spencer.
“I’ve gone too far this time, too far to disappear. But I’ve got one more chance, right? That’s right.” He points at me, the gun wedged pointed on his shoulder. “I’ve been watching you, girly. And I like you. Your healthy diet is most delightful, and…” He gets a twisted look with a sinister smile on his face. “Such a pretty face…”
“You leave her alone!” Reid speaks sternly.
I turn to find him pointing his pistol at the unsub, but the man just laughs.
“My my, Dr. Reid. You’ve grown quite attached to this woman. I’m almost sad to have to kill her and end such a blooming young love.”
Love? I don’t know who this guy thinks he is, but he’s creeping me out! Still not what I planned for a regular Friday evening…
The unsub starts to creep closer, and before I know it I’m backed against the wall with Spencer at my right.
“Don’t you touch her!” Reid shouts. “Stand back or I will shoot!”
“Oh no you won’t, Dr. Reid!” The unsub turns angry. “You won’t, or else I will skip my evening meal and blow a hole in this girl’s brain right now!”
He’s going to kill me… Eat me… Oh God. But I can’t let him hurt Spencer. His life is worth a thousand times more, and I couldn’t stand to see him get hurt.
The unsub is still focused on Spencer, so while he’s distracted I slowly inch my hand towards my skirt, almost to my concealed pistol-
Bam!
The unsub fires what seems like a warning shot and in the sudden chaos Reid fires his gun too. Reid doesn’t get shot, and instead his own bullet buries itself in the unsub’s calf. He stumbles out of sight around the corner.
“Quick! In here!” Reid pulls me into a nearby classroom and shuts the door. “Are you in pain?”
Yes! Every inch of skin in my shoulder is screaming at me and the adrenaline is starting to wear off, allowing the pain to escalate. But I need Reid to focus on the task at hand.
“I’m fine. I’m fine…” My head starts to feel dizzy and I put a hand to my shoulder, pulling it away to find it covered in blood.
“No you’re not fine. Here-” Spencer takes off his tie and does a makeshift tourniquet near my acromial region. “It won’t last long, but it’s the best I can do.” He kneels down and starts searching through his pockets. “I’m all out of bullets!”
“My… my skirt. Under my skirt…”
He lifts the fabric up to reveal my pistol. “When did you get that?”
“Since I turned 21, but I’m too dizzy to shoot it. Take it!” Reid removes my pistol from its holster, using careful hands to show modest intentions. “Now go. Go stop him.”
“But if you don’t keep appropriate pressure on it then you could bleed out!”
“Just go! I’ll figure it out. I don’t care if I pass out, you gotta go stop him and end this.”
I’m pretty sure Reid’s now speaking through panic mode. “No you can’t die! I still need to ask you out!” Did I hear that right?
“You- what? I think I’m starting to blank out. You need to what?”
But Reid doesn’t answer. He just rubs a hand through his messy hair in frustration, while all I can do is slowly slip in and out of consciousness. When he’s decided his next move he leans down and kisses my forehead, and if it weren’t such an unusual situation I’d actually have butterflies in my stomach.
“I’ll be right back, Merrian. I promise.”
And just like that he sprints out. I don’t know how long it’s been, but soon I hear gunshots in the hall and all I can do before I pass out is pray that Spencer’s ok…
“She’s lost a lot of blood, but she’ll live.”
“Quiet an injury. She’s lucky you were with her.”
“And where is she going to?”
My mind buzzes to life and I start to become aware of my surroundings, opening my eyes to find myself in a hospital bed. My arm has an IV. More than likely they’ve given me morphine for pain control. But the biggest relief is when I see Reid talking to one of the doctors at the foot of the bed.
“Spencer… you’re ok,” I croak through a groggy voice.
He notices I’m awake and quickly rushes over to give me a gentle hug. I see he has no wounds, another relief.
“God Merrian, I’m so sorry. I was supposed to protect you-” He whispers into my hair.
“No, don’t worry about me. You did all you could, Spencer. Is the unsub taken care of?”
He nods repeatedly. “Yeah. I shot him dead right after I left, but by the time I got back you’d already blacked out-”
“Excuse me sir,” the doctor steps forward. “I’m afraid she has to be transferred now.”
I look up with wide eyes. “Transferred? Where? What do you mean?”
“The bullet nicked one of your main arteries,” the doctor explains in a calm voice. “We don’t have the proper tools or expertise to perform the surgery on your shoulder, so you are being transferred to Grand Rapids.
“Then I’m going with her,” Reid pipes up.
“I’m sorry sir, but unless you are a guardian or next of kin then you cannot accompany the patient-”
“She’s the victim of a BAU unsub. That makes this a government matter so I should be able to find an excuse to go-”
“No you can’t, Reid.”
We all turn and find Agent Hotchner, along with the rest of the BAU team, walking into the room.
“We’ve been called back to Quantico. I’m afraid you need to say your goodbyes now.”
Spencer and I exchange disappointed looks, but I figure good things must come to an end. All this unsub business is enough excitement to last me a long time, even though I am sad to see the handsome agent go.
“I’ll be fine, Spencer.” I give him a small smile. “Go do what you do best.”
He nods, seeming to debate something in his head. “I- I’m glad I got to meet you, Merrian.”
I chuckle. “I should be the one saying that about you, the great Dr. Spencer Reid.”
Spencer returns my laughter and takes my hand again. “Feel better. I know from personal experience that recovering from a gunshot is no easy task. I’ll come visit as soon as I have free time. And… I’d like to take you out sometime, maybe someplace where you won’t get shot?”
His question is asked as if it’s a simple classroom inquiry, but it’s making my heart jump (unfortunately shown by the heartbeat monitor). I can tell Reid’s nervous just as I am, but I know it’s all part of the dating ritual.
“I’d like that.”
He cocks his head. “What part?”
“The not being shot part is definitely a perk, but I’d like to finally go on my first date. With you.”
Spencer gets excited and I can already see the wheels spinning in his head just as Agent Hotchner calls for Reid to get going.
“I- I’ll see you later, then! Hope you won’t mind me ranting about literature by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle?”
I squeeze his hand just as the paramedics start to get me ready to leave. “It’s a date, Spencer.”
Reid’s POV
The ride on the Jet is quiet, and as usual I chose to read alone in a corner. This time I’ve chosen Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie, most appropriate for the upcoming holiday in a few weeks.
“Hey loverboy! You gonna join us for a card game?” Morgan smirks from the table. “Or is your head too fuzzy thinking about your new friend?”
“You do know I could still beat you, right?” I ask matter-of-factly.
“Screw cards! I wanna hear all about the boy genius’ new girlfriend!” Garcia giggles.
I just shake my head and turn back to my book, ignoring their gossiping chatter. I won’t let their teasing get to me. Ever since Emily died my mind’s been in a fog, but meeting Merrian seemed to snap me back into reality. Give me something to hope for. All I know is I can’t wait to get time off so I can see her again…

Whenever I don’t like a major piece of media I really like to analyze why. Ever since the RLM Star Wars Prequels reviews I’ve found this exercise super helpful. I think it’s even more helpful than analyzing why I love a piece of media, since my heart is a lot more shallow than my head, and will happily latch onto media with all kinds of problems simply because a boy was stabbed in a sexy way or the music was good.
But after ten hours of Baldur’s Gate 3 this weekend, I just had to drop it. I don’t like the game. It charmed me at first with its high production values and its excellent exploration, but my ardour cooled quickly as it began to butt up against my personal predilections. At first it did so in totally subjective ways with its unlovable D&D mechanics. I don’t know D&D and the game did not have any interest in teaching me about it. It just kinda throws you into a system that has no place in a video game in my opinion, full of unnecessary tedium and opaque mechanics. But you know what, that’s just me. Plenty of people love it. I could deal with bad gameplay, I like lots of games that play like crap. Let me sing you a song of the Legacy of Kain series.
But then the story failed to grip me. It’s written like fanfiction, with no explanation for any of the races, proper nouns, or concepts because you’re expected to already know them. I love in media res, but c’mon. Ya know what though? Still just my opinion. Open world games are super popular, lots of people love them. Remember how much you enjoyed Dark Souls? Look at that vampire, keep going. Sure he’s walking around during the day and vampirism in this setting just seems to equate to some Spirit Halloween accessories but it’s fine!
But then! But then! Then that vampire killed my character in a cutscene! And I thought that was GREAT. Unexpected! Finally! The game’s getting good! I’m invested! I’ll need to save scum and reload but-
Wait, I don’t need to? That wasn’t a game over? I can... I can rez my character? My character died in a story cutscene and I can have another character rez them with a scroll? And then... then I can go talk to the vampire because he’s still hanging around? But I can’t even tell the other party members about it? This is... this is not right. This feels objectively not right.
You can’t use a game mechanic to rez a story death. That’s not how this works. That’s like if Cloud had pulled out a phoenix down on Aeris or Corvo just started shoving jellied eels down the dead Empress’ throat. That is deflating the very concept of death in the game. There are no stakes now. Why should I care about anything? Why do people even hate vampires in this world if death can be cleaned up with a square of toilet paper available from any shop?
Still, I pushed on, in a stubborn daze. This was a sixty dollar game, I had to keep trying!
The underwear inventory slots felt juvenile but that’s fine, that’s fine. The character designs are extremely Ren Faire, but no big deal. One of the party members is named after a Care Bear but don’t be superficial, Ashley. I can equip armour I’m not proficient in and the game’s not going to tell me why I shouldn’t, but I’m not going to take it personally. The mind control mechanic is making every interaction feel cheap and silly, and all the parasitized party members feel fake and offputting. It seems very contrived that they’re traveling together, and I don’t understand why my character would remain in the company of ANY of them when he himself knows they have his same mind-control powers and can never be trusted and sometimes the illithid powers are framed as course-altering and sometimes they’re not and nothing is consistent except the cartoonish characterization of the “evil” races but it’s fine, it’s fine, keep going
But then I got to a portion where my character was able to ask a dead Mindflayer questions about the plot. And I realised, sharply: I do not care about the answers. I do not care about this world or this cast or any schemes at play. No immersion will be happening; my suspension of disbelief is irrevocably snapped. This is a Saturday morning cartoon with dicks.
And it all really went back to rezzing that story death. While a lot of my gripes about this game are completely subjective and to do with my own tastes, I think it’s objectively bad design to allow a story death resurrection. It deflated everything for me and I couldn’t recover.
So! I did not like Baldur’s Gate 3, and in my mind my character’s story ended when their trusting nature was exploited by a vampire, and they were killed. But the experience did teach me some interesting things about my own tastes, and what I require to become invested in a video game narrative.

BruceFest 2022 | Ted Raimi Photos & Signing Experience #1
Ted was the first person I got to meet at the festival! Seeing him in person on the stage at the opening ceremony was so surreal— it felt like a dream. Actually, throughout the entire weekend, I had to keep grounding myself and reminding myself that I was there. In the flesh. And they were, too.
Before taking my first picture with him, I was very fidgety and anxious and I was messing with my hair a lot, to the point where someone my dad and I had met at the fest, who was standing in line with us, started to pick on me about it. The man went right before me, and as he was leaving, I was standing next to Ted and he whispered something in his ear. I knew exactly what he was doing, and so I dejectedly whine, “Hey, come on! Don’t do that!”
Ted turns to me and goes, “oh, are you nervous about your hair?”
I say, “I am nervous about my hair, yeah. And they keep making fun of me for it!”
He immediately says “it looks great! It looks amazing! Are you kidding me?”
Ted helps me get in position for the picture. He’s super gentle and respectful! We take the picture, I say my goodbye, and then I get right back in line for another photo with Ted, but with my dad too!
Tumblr media
When I walk through the curtain again, Ted smiles and says “Hey, I know you! We go way back! Glad to see you again!”
Ted then instructs my dad to get on his left side. He explains to him that he’s going to push my dad away and that my dad has to look super pissed about it as Ted and I get all cozy together. 💀 I’d seen Ted do this in photos before online, and I was honored he wanted to try it out with me.
Tumblr media
Ted is incredibly personable, charming, and funny. He knows exactly what to say to make you feel at ease and treats you like an old friend. At the signings, he asked for my name, which you usually don’t get from celebrities at these events— and he remembered it throughout the weekend as well! But he also called me “dear” / “my dear” and “young lady,” which felt so nice.
Men can flatter women and make them feel beautiful and appreciated without being disrespectful and gross? Who woulda thought?
The first thing I asked him to sign was this print of an art piece I made of Travis. Here’s how our conversation went:
N: Hello!
T: Hey! How you doing again? Good to see ya!
N: I’m good, how are you? I just have this art print I’d love you to sign for me.
T: This is great!
N: Thank you!
T: Where do I—? How do I get these cool things? I always find them online.
N: Honestly? I will literally—
Then Bruce leans over to check out what Ted is signing. Ted shows him.
T: It’s me!
B: Where’s that from?
T: It’s from the game.
B: Really?
T: I’m a cop, yeah.
N: Rough night.
T: Yeah, rough night. It’s really weird, I guess I’m just learning this but I’m sure you’re quite used to it, but— there’s a whole bunch of fan art which is, like, an alternate reality of that world. So, this [my art piece] isn’t in the game, but it takes place during a long night where these—
B: Yeah, with Evil Dead there’s just a bunch of— just a bunch of art.
T: Yeah! Pretty much the same thing.
N: I will totally print it out and bring you another print tomorrow!
T: Would you?!
N: Yeah!
T: Is it expensive to do?
N: No, not at all!
T: Thank you! And who do I make it out to, first of all? Is it your— did you draw this?!
N: Yes!
T: This is your—?! Oh, I saw this online! I think it’s online?
N: I posted it a couple places, yeah.
T: Not on… not on Pinterest…
N: Instagram?
T: No, it was…
N: Tumblr?
T: Tumblr! I saw it on Tumblr! Yeah, you’re really talented!
And then he asks for my name. He notices my signature on my art and says he recognizes it. I pronounce it for him and told him that it’s a play on my name.
And then I quickly show him a picture of the gecko I got over the summer, who I named Joxer. Ted said he’s adorable. Bruce was leaning over and seemed to want a peek too, so I showed him, and then he started singing, “Joxer the mighty, smells like Aphrodite,” and Ted joined in. <3
I went through to get a couple more things signed. Here’s how they turned out! Ted always has something funny to write on the pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sadly, there were no places in Estes park where I could get another print of my artwork, so I wasn’t able to fulfill my promise of getting one to him. At least I know that the Ted Raimi wanted a print of my art, though.
Insane. Crazy. Unbelievable.
I’ll be posting more about my experience at the fest with not only Ted, but Bruce too, so stay tuned! Until then, here’s Joxer, my idiot reptilian son. <3

I know this seems kinda cliche, but Hawk or demetri coming to comfort u after u got stood up on a date.
(Unedited)
Imagine, Reader meets a guy at the mall or something and they kind of hit it off talking and stuff. Everyone from the dojo is just chilling and hanging out at the mall when it happens. Sam and Moon see her talking to the guy and are like “Oh look she's talking to some guy over there!” and “It looks like they are hitting it off!” the two of them going back and forth as they watch from afar.
Hawk and Demetri are right next to the two girls as they laugh and whisper about the new development. Both boys look over to where they are looking and see what happening. Demetri is just playing it off like the guy must be asking her some random question or something. Hawk is thinking to much into it and thinks the guy is going to try something with her. Maybe he trying to make her a joke or something. He's on high alert the whole time.
She walks away from the guy and comes back over to the group, she's all smiles and she's flustred. The girls get her to spill and she says he complminted her and they exchanged number’s. All the girls are talking and discussing the boy in question. Hawk and Demetri both start to feel nauseous, something about this whole thing just doesn’t feel right.
Over the next few days they watch as she smiles more and checks her phone more often. She’s texting away all the time on her phone. Sam slips up and mentions the fact that Reader has been texting the boy from the mall. It sounds like they are really getting close.
The weird feeling in their hearts and belly’s just won’t go away the longer Sam talks about this new guy around them.
During lunch one day Reader mentions that the guy asked her out and they where supposed to be going out to eat on the weekend. There is a really good chinese place she wants to try so they were going to meet up there for dinner. Everyone at the table is congratulating her and trying to ask more questions about the guy. Demetri can’t help but pick at the food on his lunch tray. Hawk keeps looking out the lunch room window and is silent the whole lunch period. Miguel is really the only one who notices the fact that Demetri isn't trying to butt into the conversation and Hawk has yet to make any side remarks.
The two boys decided to have a boys night over at Hawks, just staying up watching movies and playing video games. The two just don’t want to remember the fact that as they spend the night watching crap movies, the girl they like is out with some random dude living it up. Both of them agreed that it should be them taking her out, not some random guy. But they wanted to make her feel good, that she was going out with someone that liked her. Someone new to spend time with.
Midway though the night just at it was starting to get dark out, it started to rain.
Both boys hunkered down in Hawk’s room and throw on a old marvel movie. The two boys cuddled up together on Hawks bed, the lights off with only the tv light on to brighten the room. The pictures on the tv screen lit up the room as the movie played. For once Hawk had his hair down, Demetri rested his head on the soft hair and Hawk laid his head on Demetri’s collar bone.
The two of them lazily watched the movie. Hawk moved around for a moment as he felt a vibration on the bed, under the blanket near his butt. He shoved his hand around and finally found the source which was his phone.
Unlocking his Home Screen he found multiple rapid text’s from Reader. He frowned which caught Demetri’s attention, he grabbed the remote and paused the movie as he looked down at Hawk. Hawk’s face went from relaxed to pissed in over a second as his eyes went over the texts from Reader.
“What’s up man?”
“That fucking asshole stood her up! She’s been standing in the rain for over three hours, dude fucking blocked her too. She's strained at that stupid restaurant.”
Demetri was already up before Hawl could say anything else. He grabbed a pair of sweat as Hawk grabbed his car keys and his wallet from his night stand. The two boys quickly rushed out of the room and out of the house to Hawk’s car.
The rain was only slightly letting up at this point but it was still raining out. It was cold rain too which made them both shiver. After getting into the car Hawk was happy that he was kinda a slob. His backseat had multiple random hoodies be had thrown back there and forgotten about and even a blanket.
The drive to the restaurant wasn't long and the place was easy to find. Pulling up they noticed her innately. Reader was pushed up against the side of the restaurant, her back pressed into the brick of the building. Even with little light they could see the way her clothes, a pretty little dress that fit her perfectly, and her hair was drenched. She looked soaked to the bone and they could only image that if they could see her face up close that she would be crying or at least on the verge of tears by now.
Demetri was the one who got out of the car and ran up to the restaurant and started talking to her. Hawk knew she was crying because after a few minutes she was hugging onto Demetri. Her fists clenches into his big sofr hoddie, he face buried in his chest. Demetri rubbed her back for a few minutes before he ushered her to the car. The two of them ran back to the car where Hawk reached back and unlocked the back door. Demetri opened it and let her in before climbing into the back seat with her.
It was quiet for a while, the only sound was the pouring of rain on the top of the car roof.
The silence was cut when a small sob left Readers lips.
“I thought he actually liked me… I thought it was going to be fun to go out, to go on a date with him. Dates are supposed to be fun right? But he just never showed. I waited and waited and I texted him asking where he was. I made a reservation and everything! He never texted back and then he just blocked me…. What did I do wrong??”
Fat tears ran down her cheeks as she stared down at her hands. They fisted into the bottom of her dress. The shook with every small cry and every new wave of tears that filled her eyes.
“You didn’t do anything wrong, he’s the one who messed up. He lead you on and then just left you here all alone, don’t ever think that it was your fault. He was trying to play with your feelings.”
Demetri ran his hand over her back to try and comfort her. His eyes where down casted into her hands, he slowly reached for one of her balled up fists and ran his thumb over it in small circles. Slowly she relaxed a bit and let her hand fall open, Demetri took the opportunity to gently slid her hand into his. To just hold it.
“He’s a pussy, a grade A asshole. No good guy leaves a girl all alone like that. Demetri is right. He was playing with your feeling which is fucked up and not ok at all. You should be in that restaurant right now on the date you where promised.”
Hawks voice was low but it helped to calm her down a bit more. He wet hiccups slowly stopped and her breathing becoming normal. She looked up from her lap and over to Demetri who just gave her a small smile.
He grabbed one of the hoddies from the seat and helped get it over her head and over her upper body. He didn’t comment on the way she pulled the collar up and gently sniffed it. Demetri wrapped a arm around her and she let him pull her in.
“How about we go get some pizza or something and back to my place? Me and Demetri where just going to watch some movies.”
She smiled and sniffled.
“That sounds like a lot of fun actually, I would love to. As long as I’m not interpreting anything?”
Demetri smirked.
“Not at all babe, not at all.”

when Mike and Will are in first grade, they attempt to run away. This is spurred by two things: Lonnie Byers’ general presence, and the boys’ current favorite book series, the Boxcar Children. The thought of living in a train car seems super cool to them, and since they live so near to train tracks, they figure that there must be an abandoned train car or two somewhere nearby. They begin trying to gather supplies—as discreetly as two six year olds are able to, which isn’t very discrete. Jonathan, age 11, finds out almost immediately. When he tries to convince them why it’s a bad idea, they—with their little kid logic—actually convince him to go along with it, at least for a little bit. With the condition that he goes with (after all, there’s an older sibling taking care of the kids in BCC, right?). He helps them pack a little better, maybe talks to Joyce about the kids going on a camping trip (to get away from Lonnie for the weekend), maybe implying (lying) that there will be Actual Adults there with them. And there’s no need to make excuses to Mike’s parents—Karen is pregnant with Holly and the whole house is focused on getting ready for the new baby. Karen will likely just think he’s at the Byers’ house. So over a weekend (starting on a Friday after school), Mike, Will, and Jonathan go exploring— looking for a boxcar or any abandoned train car—mostly looking along the train tracks. They eventually find the Junkyard—which the kiddos get excited about anyway (even Jon bc Boxcar Children was his book first shut up), so they proceed to search for hidden gems. They find a bunch of little treasures (a cracked but useable magnifying glass, an old working radio, and even a set of slightly cracked dishes in the trunk of one of the cars), but their biggest discovery is an old Bus. Jonathan tells them that, at least for tonight, it’s almost as good as a boxcar. Mike and Will immediately agree and the trio set out to make the space livable (to kid standards, at least). Set up their blankets and sleeping bags, etc. Jonathan reads to them (from the Boxcar children ofc). And the weekend goes along in a similar vein. The younger boys get homesick by Sunday morning, ofc, so they agree that the Bus can be Their secret place that they go to sometimes. Like the boxcar in the Children’s backyard. (And then Jonathan forgets about it after a while bc I completely forgot about the whole bit in S1E7 where they’re trying to find the kids—won’t remember til they go to pick up the Party and then Jon will want to hit himself for forgetting. The rest of the Party (once they become friends) don’t know about it. It stays a Mike and Will thing—until the Bus is p much destroyed in S2 RIP Bus). Joyce never finds out. (At least not for a v long time—maybe it’s one of the memories Mike uses when Will is possessed by the MF) Not about This run away attempt anyway.
Will tries to run away the second time when they’re in fourth grade. Again, mostly bc Lonnie Byers and his A+ parenting. And plus Will thinks one less child might make things easier on his mom. By this time, Lucas and Dustin are their friends too (and thus voices of reason, bc Mike is an enabler who probably immediately offered up his basement). So they’re talking about it—going over the pros and cons (Mike is still advocating for his basement), but Karen happens to overhear and it’s immediately Game Over: Joyce is told. She is, ofc, devastated. And they have a long talk about how much she would miss him if he were gone (ouch I hurt myself😃). So that’s the last time he actually tries to run away (Joyce gives brief thought that that might be what’s happened at the beginning of S1, but with the confirmation that Mike is Not in the Know, she thinks it’s v unlikely).
(And then during/after the divorce, if Will wants to run away, he either runs to Mike’s house to spend the night, or he runs to Castle Byers… He runs to it in the Upside Down. He runs to it after his possession has been lifted—as his friends (Mike) begin to pull away. And, after a Fight with Mike, he runs to it one last time…then there’s no longer any place in Hawkins Will can run away to.)
When they move to Lenora, Will thinks about running away back to Hawkins. He doesn’t go through with it though, because Mike hasn’t really been responding to his letters, and thus there’s no one to conspire with. Plus, with El, he doesn’t want to leave her alone. She’s quickly become a sister to him, and he knows (even tho school sucks for her), she likely wouldn’t want to run away from Joyce and Jonathan—considering she already lost Hop.
Once Will and Mike get together post-whatever happens in s5, Will tells him about almost running away to Hawkins (to Mike), and, it turns out, Mike had almost the exact same thought (esp when he couldn’t come for Christmas). Like he told Will during SB, Hawkins isn’t the same without Will there. They talk about ‘running away’ from Hawkins after they graduate high school—basically going to college out of state. “It’s not really running away if I’m with you, though. You’re home.” Michael Wheeler is full of cheese.

Something you’re proud of yourself for?
I think I'll have to say how much I got my act together school-wise this year. Last school year I really struggled mentally, I was very close to dropping out. I was dealing with throwing up from my anxiety almost every day.
My favourite professor actually just recommended me for grad school which I am very proud of! (i had his class this school year lol) It has made me change up my life plans for the next couple of years but I am honoured that he thinks highly of me, so I must do it... Nothing feels as good as academic validation 😭
Favorite books?

So, I decided to write a little something for the ITP: Happy Ending AU, where Spring Bonnie gets to stay and lives with Oswald and the rest of the family—which was made by @maraariana01
I wanted to give Oswald’s parents some names, since I don’t think they were ever called anything else besides “Mom” and “Dad”, and I didn’t want to just repeatedly call them that. So, Oswald’s mom? Jackie. Her husband? Thomas.
Title: A Bunny, A Mom, & Rom-Coms
The animatronic bunny wandered the home, having to crouch slightly to get through the door frames. Where was Oswald? Glancing at the clock on the wall nearby, it was nearing ten in the morning.
Typically, his son would be gone by around six—but that was due to school. But today wasn’t one of those days. It was the weekend—Saturday. He’d checked the kitchen, his son wasn’t in there eating breakfast.
When Spring Bonnie had looked around Oswald’s room earlier, he hadn’t found his son, but he had found Jinx, sleeping under the bed—who promptly woke up and hissed until the animatronic left.
The cat had never liked him—back when he was pretending to be Thomas, as she seemed to realize that the animatronic wasn’t Oswald’s father—and the feeling seemed to remain even after he returned, but truly as himself.
Spring Bonnie wished there was something he could do.
The bunny had just re-entered the house, having decided to check if Oswald may have been in the front or back, when he heard noises coming from the TV in the living room.
Ears twitching—and lightly hitting the top of the door frame until he moved out of the way, Spring Bonnie made his way towards the living room. Oswald?
It wasn’t Oswald.
Instead, the bunny entered the living room, and spotted Jackie sitting on the couch. She had a plate with some food on it—food that the bunny didn’t know the name of, but thought that it still looked nice.
She was in the middle of taking a bite, while fiddling with the remote, most likely trying to find something to watch. She looked tired. Jackie didn’t seem to notice Spring Bonnie yet.
It was one of her days off, Spring Bonnie remembered. He knew, from Oswald talking about it with him, that Jackie’s shifts were long—and that her schedule wasn’t the best. Spring Bonnie saw her the most on the weekends.
Days like these, with her not having to work, usually led to a “Family Fun Night”. Spring Bonnie had already participated in several since he came back. He liked the movies. He liked the games. He liked the picnics—even if he couldn’t eat anything.
Not wanting to walk up and accidentally startle her, Spring Bonnie knocked gently on the side of the wall with his knuckles. That got her attention. She turned.
“Oh, Spring Bonnie,” She swallowed, placing the plate beside her. “Do you need something?”
The bunny started looking through his coat—he knew he had the notepad somewhere, but it had a good amount of pockets, and he kept forgetting which one he would put it in.
Finally, he found it after a few extra seconds of searching, and began to scribble on the paper with the old, blue pen—which was starting to lose its ink.
Jackie watched, about to stand up and move closer, but Spring Bonnie finished before she did so—although she took notice of a little bit of struggle during the writing. She could look around for another pen later.
Spring Bonnie moved closer to Jackie and the couch, and turned the notepad around so that she could see what he had written down.
“Oswald?” It read.
Jackie put the plate back onto her lap. “Oh. Thomas took him to go see Ben,” She took another bite, and swallowed. “They left about an hour ago.”
Oh. Spring Bonnie thought. The bunny guessed that was the reason for, when he was still searching, he hadn’t seen the car—which he had taken notice of, but had still been more focused on his son.
He glanced around, unsure on what to do. As he did so, that was was when Spring Bonnie noticed the TV. It was paused on a movie—which hadn’t officially started yet. She had only been a second or two in, before pausing.
He knew of movies. He’d watched a couple at this point—during Family Fun Night, and on other occasions. He enjoyed them. ...Most, anyway. Spring Bonnie didn’t like horror films.
The bunny wasn’t scared by any of them, no, they just... they were unpleasant. They, if the situation in the film was right, reminded him of an event burned into his mind.
He’d only watched one horror film at this point, a few weeks ago with Oswald. But even then, he still heard about other ones.
Spring Bonnie and Oswald had only watched a total of four minutes of the horror movie—whatever it’s name had been—before, upon seeing a child in it—who was getting chased—the bunny switched movies.
The two of them watched a musical after that.
Spring Bonnie scribbled something down on the notepad once again: “What are you watching?”
She smiled. “Oh, just a romantic comedy that I’ve been meaning to check out for a while now.”
Spring Bonnie nodded as he listened. He’d never seen one, but he’d heard of them. He knew that she seemed to like them—but his son and Thomas didn’t.
“Would you like to watch it with me?”
The bunny stared at her. He nodded.
Jackie moved to the side of the couch at that confirmation, wanting to give him enough space. Spring Bonnie carefully sat down beside her.
Once they were both comfortable enough on the couch, and Jackie took a few more bites of her food, she pressed ‘play’.
...
For the first couple of minutes, Jackie had noticed the confusion, yet also curiosity, in the bunny. She didn’t say anything as the movie went on, and he didn’t write anything.
Now though, as the movie was reaching the tenth minute mark—where everything was getting more interesting—taking off—not going so slow like in the first three minutes or so, she glanced back at Spring Bonnie.
The bunny’s tail was peeking out from underneath the coat, and it seemed to be wagging. Spring Bonnie’s eyes, which were focused on the TV, reminded her of a somewhat excited cat—with how large their pupils could get.
“Spring Bonnie,” The nurse released a little yawn, “Do you like it?” Her smile grew slightly.
Spring Bonnie glanced at her for a moment, and nodded quickly with a grin, before returning his focus on the film.
She snickered. Well, She thought. Good to know that someone else here enjoys romantic comedies.
...
The two of them had already finished the first—which had barely been an hour long. With the two enjoying it, and not having much else to do, and waiting for Oswald and Thomas to eventually return, Jackie decided to play another that she had rented.
This one seemed to be longer. An hour and thirty minutes, and at the moment, the two were at the thirty minute mark. Just like the previous one, Spring Bonnie was enjoying it.
What caused him to look away from the film was a noise beside him. Snoring. He turned to his side, spotting Jackie—the source of the snoring—fast asleep, back pressed against the couch.
He heard something from the TV—it was starting to get loud. The bunny didn’t want her to wake up. Spring Bonnie knew that she had been tired recently. Reaching over, he carefully (yet quickly) pressed ‘pause’.
Spring Bonnie debated on what to do—should he move her? He didn’t want to wake her... but was it cold? The bunny looked around for a second, before getting an idea.
After taking the pen and notepad out of one of the pockets, the bunny took the coat off of himself, before putting it around the sleeping Jackie. He didn’t know if there were any spare blankets around... but this should do.
Spring Bonnie sat there for a moment in silence—minus the snoring. This was nice. He liked spending time with Oswald—and with Thomas and Jackie. The bunny liked spending time with all of them—but occasionally, that could be difficult.
Maybe he and Jackie could watch more of these when they both had the time—he’d like that. And, after all, his son and Thomas didn’t seem to want to watch.

Top 10 Bands/Musicians
Tagged by the wonderful @aeide and @sleeplessincarcosa <3
Some of these are temporary and some are always. Aaand I’m breaking the rules to go off the rails because it’s late 😂
1. Def Leppard - it’s always Def Leppard. On every music list I ever do, it will always be Def Leppard. Foolin’? Animal? The BEST.
2. The Black Keys - one of you suggested this ages ago and I fell down the rabbit hole never to be seen again.
3. Joseph - this is a local PDX band that’s gone a bit bigger, but they KILL at this very airy sound and have some lyrics that are just 🙌. Whirlwind, Honest, Canyon, Wind… there are so many good ones.
4. John Denver - Being honest here 😂 My dad grew up VERY rural, packing horses into the mountains on the weekends, and his dad used to play this on the radio when he was a kid, making breakfast, so he’s always done the same and it conjures alllll of that for me. And he writes with a lot of texture. Experiential. You hear the flight patterns of The Eagle and the Hawk. You see the sea spray in Calypso. These days, I do a lot of gender-neutralizing with his music, but he was very much a hippie (see Rhymes & Reasons 😂), so I think he’d do that himself if he were still writing today. He has so many I love: Matthew, To the Wild Country, Poems, Prayers, & Promises… Among all his famous ones. I mean what other songwriter leaves after a fight and returns with Annie’s Song? It’s just absurd 😂
5. Ingrid Michaelson - She never comes to mind when I think of artists I love, but I have 30-some songs of hers. She just never misses the mark. Her old stuff. Her new stuff. It’s all fantastic.
6. Dean Lewis - Half his songs were written for Thalexios. Change my mind.
7. RAIGN - both of these last two are for a handful of ship-specific songs (likely short lived), although I’m coming to love RAIGN’s style more and more.
8. Imagine Dragons - immediately puts me back in a very specific era. They don’t swear in their songs and usually I couldn’t care less, but when I was doing mental health support in schools that made them one of the few bands we could listen to and they were ALWAYS on, especially Whatever It Takes. I love the person I was then - I was very myself, despite the fact that things were WILD 24/7. I sang a lot of Start Over on my way to work 🤣
9. Mumford & Sons - Don’t know as much about them as I should, but this is an era too. Awake My Soul especially, but there are a dozen at least. And in lieu of a 10th, I’ll do Story Time, because this has me nostalgic and it’s way too long and tumblr is something of a void, right…? 😂 When I listened to them most, I was super young, had started working with a nonprofit, and my worldview was being blown apart. I was also “not-dating” a guy I’d known my whole life - a marine stationed overseas at the time. Before he reached out, I’d noticed a pattern of hometown SOs he’d start up with and then ghost when he came back. I knew his game. He just wanted an anchor. We never talked about it and I never felt compelled to tell him I’d NEVER date him, because I knew he was bullshitting me. But things got out of hand. We talked twice a day for 10 months… with a 16hr time difference… during a HUGE time in both our lives. Him processing his life. My revelations. Love, but not as a partner? But we never talked about what we were doing. And at the end, he started scaring me, getting all weepy about me when he was drinking and I felt like an awful person. We talked about him coming home, but I always kept conversations pointed at him, the family he’d see, what they were like, the places he’d go... If he cut ties, I didn’t want broken promises. I wanted it clean. And sure enough, his plane landed and we never spoke again - all that sap, a strange goodbye. He’s a stranger ever since, walking around with a year of my mind tucked inside his, and I smile when I remember him, because it was what we both needed and it ended when it needed. I hope, somehow, he knows that.
Buuut I’ll never break the silence to make sure, so good luck, buddy. Best wishes 😅

♡     YEONA    —     if  there’s  anything  that  yeona  is  confident  about  when  it  comes  to  cooking   ,   it’s  breakfast   .   she  loves  waking  up  early   ,   especially  during  winter   .   and  would  make  pancakes  and  hot  chocolate  for  them  to  share   ,   literally  a  breakfast  in  bed   .   they  will  not  get  out  of  bed  until  they  have  to   ,   that’s  for  sure   .
who makes the bed     ⨾
♡     BOTH    —     i  feel  they  both  want  their  place  to  be  as  cozy  and  neat  as  much  as  possible   .   they  like  to  be  comfortable  even  if  they  just  take  up  barely  any  space  because  they’re  always  stuck  to  each  other   .
who makes the coffee     ⨾
♡     YEONA    —     the  woman  runs  on  caffeine   ,   especially  when  it’s  cold   ,   i’m  sure  she  ends  up  having  two  to  three  cups  and  it  has  to  be  extra  creamy   ,   as  in  it’ll  look  like  she’s  drinking  milk   .
who burns breakfast     ⨾
♡     BOTH  AND  NEITHER    —     just  because  i  think  they  both  appreciate  breakfast  being  made  for  them   ,   especially  if  the  day  starts  off  gloomy   .   they  have  ways  to  cheer  each  other  up  and  mostly  through  small  affectionate  gestures   .
how do they let each other know they’re leaving the house     ⨾
♡     they  always  make  sure  to  let  each  other  know  where  they  are  and  not  in  like  a  possessive  way   .   more  like   :   “   let  me  know  ,  so  i  know  where  to  come  get  you  if  it  gets  too  late   .   ”   other  times   ,   they  leave  notes  on  their  fridge  if  they  wake  up  and  one  of  them  went  out   .   most  of  the  time   ,   they  go  out  together  because  they’re  more  comfortable  that  way   .
how do they greet each other when one of them gets home     ⨾
♡     they’re  very   ,   EXTREMELY   ,   touchy  with  each  other   .   yeona  would  literally  lay  on  malachai  when  she  comes  home  until  he  gets  annoyed  or  until  they  get  to  hands  on  with  each  other   .   she  would  definitely  smother  his  face  with  kisses   ,   that’s  for  sure   .
who brings home little gifts like flowers/chocolates more often     ⨾
♡     MALACHAI    —     these  two  live  for  small  affectionate  gestures   ,   as  mentioned  above   .   i’m  sure  malachai  has  bothered  yeona  about  her  favorite  flowers  when  they  were  getting  to  know  each  other   .   and  yeona  appreciates  it  so  much  because  she’s  never  received  flowers  from  anyone  before   .
who picks the movie for movie night     ⨾
♡     MALACHAI    —     yeona  has  horrible  taste  in  movies   ,   whenever  she  chooses  the  movie   ,   she  sees  malachai  snoozing  off  twenty  minutes  in   .   not  that  she  doesn’t   ,   there  are  times  when  she’s  dozed  off  when  malachai  chose  the  movie   ,   but  he  has  better  taste  in  movies  than  she  does   .
their favorite kind of movie to watch     ⨾
♡     it  depends   ,   i  feel  like  they’re  the  type  to  watch  romcoms   .   movies  like  13  going  on  30   ,   pretty  woman   ,   love  actually   ,   the  proposal   .   but  bold  of  me  to  assume  they  didn’t  get  touchy  and  ended  up  making  out  on  the  couch   .
who first suggests a pillow fort     ⨾
♡     YEONA    —     there’s  not  a  week  where  they  don’t  make  a  mess  of  their  entertainment  room   .   they  have  spare  mattresses  and  tons  of  pillows  and  blankets  to  smother  them  while  they  cuddle  in  it   .
who builds the pillow fort     ⨾
♡     MALACHAI    —     i  feel  as  though  he’s  very  much  into  yeona’s  antics  too   ,   but  would  need  convincing   ,   like  i’m  sure  all  their  plans  to  watch  movies  in  that  pillow  fort  have  been  tossed  away  the  moment  they  both  get  in  it   .
who tries to distract the other during the move     ⨾
♡     BOTH    —     when  yeona  doesn’t  want  to  watch  a  movie   ,   she  would  pretty  much  sit  on  malachai’s  lap  and  distract  him   .   the  woman  is  insatiable  would  whisper  things  to  him  that  only  he’s  allowed  to  hear   .   same  for  malachai   ,   he  has  distracted  her  one  too  many  times   ,   as  well—   they’re  both  impatient  to  the  point  where  they  just  let  it  happen  because  they  can’t  keep  their  hands  to  themselves   .
who falls asleep first     ⨾
♡     YEONA   /   NEITHER    —     if  yeona  could  sleep  the  whole  day   ,   she  would   .   at  the  same  time   and  as  cheesy  as  it  sounds   ,   they  try  to  sleep  at  the  same  time   .   but  yeona’s  found  herself  dozing  off  quickly  when  he’s  holding  her  or  she’s  laying  on  chest   .
who is big spoon/little spoon     ⨾
♡     IT  DEPENDS    —     i  feel  as  if  they  like  being  both  at  certain  times   .   yeona  loves  it  when  malachai  lays  on  her  because  she  can  play  with  his  hair  and  hold  him  close   .   at  the  same  time   ,   yeona  likes  to  be  the  little  spoon  because  she  feels  safe  when  he’s  holding  her   ,   which  is  something  that  overwhelms  her  a  little   .   not  in  a  bad  way   ,   but  more  like—   she’s  worried  that  she  might  lose  that  feeling  when  the  time  comes   .

Blair’s thing, for as long as anyone can remember, is memorizing everything she comes across, almost by accident.
By two, she can identify more than fifty international flags, and by three, she knows all the United States and their capital cities. She didn’t even need a tune to learn them. She just woke up one day and did it. When her mother asked her why, all Blair said was, “I wanted to.”
“I wanted to” will become the thesis statement to Blair Donnelly’s entire life.
By far, her favorite thing to memorize is television theme songs. She sits at home on the weekends and learns them all without even trying. She assumes it’s probably not very difficult, but when she meets up with her similarly aged cousins for playdates and holidays, they don’t even know the difference between Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.
And, oh, does Blair love Green Acres.
To be clear, she’s not really sure if she loves the show as much as she loves the theme song. Something about the bellowing of that first line just makes her crack up. She’s seven years old now, and she still can’t think of a funnier way to fill a silence. When she’s home, just her and her parents, she’ll sing out of almost nowhere. Her parents find it charming.
They find it so charming that they forget to tell her she probably shouldn’t do it at recess in front of the other children.
The worst thing is that it doesn’t even happen during recess. It happens during outdoor gym class, when all the second graders are out playing kickball. It’s the second week back at school after summer vacation – a summer vacation Blair spent watching sitcom after sitcom. As she waits her turn to step up to the plate (and inevitably fall on her face, like Charlie Brown without any of the things that make him endearing), her reflexes take over.
Greeeen acres is the place to be!
Everyone stops. The whole game grinds to a halt. Blair swears she can hear someone else on the other side of the field drop their baseball bat. And now, everyone is staring at her.
She doesn’t hear everything they say once they start speaking again. Stuff about how she’s weird, how she thinks she’s so special but she’s really not, how she thinks she’s smart and funny. Some kids are even mocking her by singing the song themselves.
Greeeen acres is the place to be!
Blair wants to yell at them, but she’s not sure whether she wants to yell at them for making fun of her or for not being true fans of Green Acres. The fact that she’s conflicted about this really solidifies her reputation as the weirdest girl – the weirdest kid – in the second grade. She thinks about running off the field and back into the school where she belongs.
But then, there he is. Running up the kickball diamond as fast as his skinny little legs will take him. Chris Egan, who never gives up on her, even when he’d be so much more popular if he did. He gasps for air as soon as he catches up to her, and she hopes they get to go inside for Chris to take a puff from his hardly-ever-used inhaler.
But he recovers. And for better or worse, he has a plan.
Faaaarm livin’ is the life for me!
Blair’s heart does something she can’t quite explain, but she knows she likes it. She links arms with him and keeps singing. The other kids have decided to ignore them, just like always.
They don’t speak a word of it for the rest of the day. Blair won’t be surprised if they never speak of it again. Because that’s what Chris does for her. That’s why he’s there. To save a face that isn’t even his.
Blair waits for the day she can do it for him.

TWITL - week 32 - mostly Sam Hunt
Tumblr media
SAM HUNT!!! https://flic.kr/p/2oVpFXr So if you know me, you know that Sam Hunt has been one of my favorites for years now. I can still remember that moment on February 13, 2015 when I "discovered" him. He was playing on the radio and I Shazam'd the song and thought, "Hmm, who is this Sam Hunt?" And so began my journey back into country music listening (mostly for the better). If not for Sam, I don't know if I would have met Tyler Rich and Jordan Davis and Jacob Davis and all the friends I've made along the way. He'll never know but I am utterly grateful for him in so many ways. https://flic.kr/p/2oVnyC6 During the concert, Sam talked about how his life was coming full circle and it made me smile because the first time I saw Sam live was at the Shoreline Ampitheatre. We all but twenty seconds of his set, which was a huge bummer. He did sing with Lady Antebellum (as they were know by back then) during one of their songs, so I did hear him sing a bit more. And even though I would eventually see him again in concert and eventually the headliner (last year in Sparks, NV), this show at Shoreline felt like the righting of a wrong of sorts. And a good show it was! https://flic.kr/p/2oVw7q6 I made sure to buy aisle seats and I picked just the right spot because OMG, the small stage was in the section next to us and Sam's path would bring him right to us before he turned to go that small stage! He walked through the audience during "House Party" but that was just a little tease, I think. It wasn't until about the middle of the show that he made his way through again and to that small stage to sing a couple of songs. He passed by me twice and it was pretty cool. Opening for Sam were Lily Rose and Brett Young. Lily played a short set of about thirty minutes and her bit seemed to go in a flash. She was very good, of course, and she also sang during Sam's set while he was making his way back to the main stage ("Wishful Drinking"). Brett played a longer set and he was very good too. I actually marveled at how many songs of his that I knew. He's been around for a long time so why wouldn't I know his songs? It was so cute when he brought his wife out. https://flic.kr/p/2oVkcHf https://flic.kr/p/2oVockp And then there was Sam Hunt and his amazing band. What can I say? I knew most of the words to all his songs and I loved how close he got to us. I really loved that we figured out this path was going to make its way past us. Sam looked great, sounded great, and was fantastic. I took a snippet of all the songs, so here's the playlist: - Raised on It - House Party - Kinfolks - 23 - Water Under the Bridge - Outskirts - Start Nowhere - Take Me Home, Country Road - Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s - Hard to Forget - Make You Miss Me (walking to the small stage) - (small stage) - Take Your Time - Cop Car - Wishful Drinking (with Lily Rose) - (back to the main stage) - Leave the Night On - We are Tonight - Don’t Start Now (Tyrone Carreker singing) - Let it Down - Walmart - Break Up in a Small Town - Ex to See - Body Like a Back Road (finale) So many songs! It was great to hear a fair mix of his older songs with his newer songs. https://flic.kr/p/2oVqnv4 Shashi - an Urban Resort We stayed at Shashi Hotel in Mountain View, which is walking distance of the Shoreline Ampitheatre. Fancy place, very clean and comfortable. I really liked it. I also really liked that we could walk to the concert and walk back without dealing with traffic. It was a great to be so close. https://flic.kr/p/2oVuxy8 the view from room 333 https://flic.kr/p/2oVpaAP pre-gamed at The Sports Page https://flic.kr/p/2oVqaFh room 333 A nice little weekend getaway it was... THE SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FLIP5 https://flic.kr/p/2oV7BNh my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 My Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 arrived on Monday! It is freakin' cool. It was definitely a good decision to trade the Flip4 for it. I have been having a great time with it. I ordered a case for it and it thankfully arrived just before we left for the concert on Saturday. https://flic.kr/p/2oVki2x Quick take - The phone is pretty cool. The cover screen is especially very functional and I've been having a lot of fun with it. I learned that I can make videos as animations as the cover screen graphic. So neat! For the concert, I used it almost exclusively for Lily Rose and Brett Young. I didn't use it for Sam because I wasn't sure about the quality of the video camera. I like the phone out of the case for the most part but having the case during the concert made me feel a bit more secure holding it, especially since the case has a ring. I was a little paranoid about the battery for the concert, even though I knew I was going to use the iPhone as well. I shouldn't have worried too much about it. I'm sure I'll have more to say about the phone after a few weeks with it... https://flic.kr/p/2oVoeDN It was a nice getting away for the weekend, even though it was only one night. The weather was cooler in Mountain View and I actually wore my new Sam Hunt sweatshirt during the concert. We were home just after noon and mostly relaxed our Sunday away. Here's to a good week! Vlog 6: The starts of classes and finding them.
Good Afternoon or Good morning wherever you are. Happy Friday in the U.S and happy Saturday from Australia. I hope you guys had an awesome week so far and are excited about the weekend.  I know back at Susquehanna you guys are halfway through your semester and are excited about spring break that started next week. Unfortunately for me remember that I’m currently studying in the southern hemisphere, so where in the U.S it is winter going to be spring soon while in Australia it is the opposite. So I just started my semester this week meaning the fun and games are over for me and off to the books for me.
For me I started classes on Wednesday, so I had a relaxing 2 days off before starting. So, for those 2 days I just study the material that would be this week if the tutor was what Australian called professor here instead. But in all of my classes we only review a little of what we needed to prepare because it is the first week of classes so it's kind of chill. Today's vlog tip of the day is great to carry a notebook with the class you're taking that day and the location. This is especially helpful if you're new to campus where you don’t know a lot of the buildings yet. I would also recommend that you leave about 20 to 30 minutes before your class starts for the first week. It is better for you so you get familiar with where you're going for a particular class and there is nothing wrong with being early. Remember being on time is considered late, so being early doesn’t help you.

When you're studying abroad there are classes that are required for your GO-program which will fill as a requirement as you study abroad. This is required if you GO-Long or Go your own way but idk since I’m GO-long lol. So for me it is between Introduction to Aboriginal Australia which covers your Diversity Intensive or Introduction to Sociology which covers the Social Interaction requirement. I decided to choose Introduction to Aboriginal Australia because it is a subject which is called a course in the U.S that I choose. I picked this not just since it required it to be pretty interesting. This class talked about Australia and the history of the country and it Indigenous and non-indigenous people. What I’m currently learning about this class is its history in the 1800’s, famous philosophers/archaeologists who see different views on the history of Australia development based on their opinions. Another class that I’m taking fulfills my central curriculum is Australian Literature which fulfills my literature intensive requirement. Australian Literature focuses on poems and literature that express what Australia as a continent identity is during the 20th and the 21st century where they identify Australia as a place, nationality, traits and the overall area of land it has based on the past. Well, that is for this blog for this week have a great weekend and I see you guys' next week.
