A/n: Finally! Part 2 here! Hope you enjoy lovelies🤍

Warnings: mentions of blood and a bit of body horror(?) I think idk but still putting that here just in case! Lots and LOTS of angst, malleus is bit of a jerk in the beginning. Angst to comfort/fluff

News of your disappearance was broadcasted everywhere. The moment you stepped foot outside NRC grounds and never made it back to briar valley, all hell broke loose.

The people of briar valley were in panic

What happened to the future queen of briar valley? Where did she go? Was she abducted? And if so, is she even alive? Is the future queen alive?

What if she dead?

Those are the questions the people ask.

What could have possibly happened to you?

Lilia sighs as once again, nothing….no signs of you.

He’s been sending out royal guards to go out and look for you. He spent sleepless nights trying to find any evidence of your disappearance, but yet nothing.

When the news of your disappearance reached him, he was a mess. He was worried! You were just in NRC and now they’re saying you’re missing?!

He blames himself for not stopping you that day. He blames himself because he thinks he’s the reason why you disappeared.

If only he stopped you from leaving. If only he asked what was wrong. If only he didn’t let you come to NRC that day then maybe you would still be here.

Flashback

The sound of the door slamming shut reached the ears of everyone in the dining hall. The sounds of heels clicking off the marble floors and sniffling reached Lilia's ears.

And there you were

Standing by the doorway of the dining hall with an apologetic look.

“Sorry Lilia, but I have to go now” He frowns at your appearance.

Are you crying?

“Oh dear, what happened?” He asks as he stands up but you quickly stop him.

“No no! No need to worry about me. I-I just don’t feel well”

“Are you sick lady y/n?!” Sebek worriedly yells out. You giggle at his concern before smiling.

“Something like that. But I’ll go home now” Silver then quickly stands up.

“Your bags! I’ll go help-“

“There is no need, I have it all under control” You say before giving him a soft smile. Lilia still felt like something was wrong.

“Dear, did you have a fight with malleus?” He watches as your figure stiffens at the mention of the dragon boy's name.

“O-of course not! Mal is very good to me”

Something isn’t right….

You apologize once more before leaving.

That was the last time anyone saw you

And lilia regrets not stopping you

“Father” Lilia was snapped out of his thoughts by silver who stood by the doorway. Looking at him worriedly.

“Silver..” He smiles at the sight of his son.

“You haven’t slept at all” Lilia just smiles.

“Don’t worry about little old me, I’ll be fine” Silver frowns at his father's words. His father may be a fae, but silver knows that even faes can get tired.

“Y/n would not like this if she saw you right now” He says. Silver is also worried about you but he is even more worried about his father’s health.

Lilia just looks down knowing his son is right. You would always tell Lilia to take care of himself. Hating to see him or anyone sick because of poor health.

“How the search in your end” Silver looks down with disappointment.

“Nothing, we couldn’t find any traces of lady y/n” He says. Lilia sighs before turning around.

“Very well then….”

“Father”

“Yes?”

“Please take care of yourself….y/n would hate to see you stress”

Lilia only nods before silver excuses himself

“Just where could you be y/n” Lilia mumbles as he looks out the window.

Malleus walks around the palace garden, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the garden.

Ever since your disappearance. Him and the rest were allowed to go back home to handle the situation of your disappearance. To say he was displeased about leaving Akane alone at NRC was an understatement.

He hated everything about this.

So what if you're missing, Why is he supposed to care? Why is everyone making this a huge deal?

He hates that everyone is in panic and worried about your disappearance.

Future queen of briar valley missing? HA, you would never have been his queen in the first place if he got a say in it. He is only marrying you because of his parents' promise to yours!

You're a selfish and ignorant fool! Just like your parents. Your parents are the reason his parents are gone! Wanting the throne but only died in the process trying to achieve it.

That's why you're still alive. Because you want to finish what your parents have started!

That's why he promised himself to never love you! To not fall into the same trap his fell into.

Ever since he was little, after what he saw that day. He made sure not to fall for you.

Why couldn’t you just give up? Always with a sweet smile on your face. Couldn’t you see he is trying not to fall into the same trap his parents fell into? Why are you still so nice to him!

He did everything he could to make you give up and hate him but nothing! You called him sweet names even if he told you he hated them. You always made sure that he was okay and always looked after him.

You even cooked him food! Food that he never ate. Even after hours of working on it, he never ate it.

What if you poisoned it? He can’t fall for that!

He watches as you fail to get his trust. And when he thinks you have given up, nope! You still tried! You still continue to be that sweet and doting girl he grew up with.

Even when you guys were little, you were so nice and sweet to him. Always asking if he wanted to play with you, sharing your snacks with him even if he declined, asking him if he wants to take a stroll around the palace gardens, hell even asking him for a dance during balls!!

And he hates himself for falling for your charms. He hates that his little younger self fell for your foolish acts. That is why he made it his mission to act EXTRA cold towards you.

Even if his heart aches a bit at the small frown that decorates your face when he declines or ignores your attempts of gaining his trust.

But he can’t fall for the same trap his parents fell into, he can’t!

Whispers could be heard as Malleus walked down the palace halls.

Of course, once again mentioning you when they see him. One glare was enough to shut them up.

Malleus makes his way to Lilia room with both sebek and silver behind him. Once he reaches lilia room, the door opens.

“Malleus we need to talk” Malleus raises a brow.

“Is something wrong Lilia?”

“Yes please come in” malleus walks in as both silver and sebek wait outside. Lilia closes the door shut and sighs.

“Malleus…before y/n disappearance, did the two of you have an argument?” Malleus frowns at the mention of your name before letting out a deep sigh.

“Why are we talking about her? Why does it matter?” Lilia's eyes widen at Malleus' lack of concern for you.

“Malleus…she your fiancé”

“And so what if she’s my fiancé? She did us a favor for finally going away”

“Malleus”

“Why do you guys even care for seven sakes! She could have killed us if she becomes queen! It’s good that she is gone now so none of us could be in danger now!” Lilia stares at malleus with a hint of disappointment.

“Malleus, why do you think she dangerous?”

“Because she’ll turn out just like her parents. She’ll end up killing me after she becomes queen, isn’t that the whole reason why my parents are dead?!” Lilia's eyes widened in shock. Did malleus really think you’ll turn out like your parents.

“How-how did you know?”

“Because I saw it that day…I saw my parents die in the hands of her parents” Lilia sits down and motions for malleus to do the same. As the future king of briar valley sits down, Lilia begins talking.

“Malleus, you have it all wrong”

“What” Lilia pauses before talking again.

“Y/n had nothing to do with her parents plans of overtaking the throne, she doesn’t even know the real reason why her parents died. She thinks they died in a fire accident but they didn’t”

“Y/n never intended to hurt any of us. All the wrong things her parents did had nothing to do with her. She is innocent malleus, believe me when I say that she innocent”

Malleus looks shocked. Eyes wide and mouth agape.

Your innocent?

But-

“She has no clue about anything. She isn’t trying to kill you or any of us when she becomes queen. She genuinely loves you malleus”

“Because the way her eyes shine brighter than a thousand stars with adoration and love when she talks about you is proof that she will never do something like that to you”

She loves me?

“Impossible! That can’t be-“

“It’s true” His eyes snapped to the voice that interrupted him. It was silver.

“Silver what are-“

“I’m sorry father, but I can’t help but to stand up for lady y/n” His eyes then land to malleus.

“Y/n loves you very much. She always asks me about you and your wellbeing. She always tells me to make sure you're taking care of yourself and report back if anything seems off. She clearly loves you malleus”

At this point malleus was confused

You're not trying to kill him? Or the others? You're not trying to overtake his throne? You actually love him?

“I believe you need some time to think. Sebek, come take malleus back to his room please”

“Of course lord Lilia!”

Malleus gets up from his seat as he makes his way towards the door. As he was about to leave, Lilia called out to him.

“She not like her parents and she would never be”

Malleus then turns around and walks away

He misunderstood everything….

The sounds of birds chirping and the sound of the water stream calmed you as you continued walking down the rocky path.

How long has it been since you left? About….two weeks now…

You're sure Lilia and the others are worried sick but those cruel words that left malleus lips that night stuck to you like glue.

You should’ve died in that fire with your parents!

What did you even do to deserve such cruel words? Does malleus hate you that much?

Your thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sudden shouts and sounds of horses. You quickly ran from the path and hid behind a tree. You peeked and watched as multiple men in horses rode past you.

It was the Royal guards

They were definitely looking for you

You looked down before sighing again

“How long should I stay out here”

You won’t lie. You miss your home. But then again, you don’t want to face malleus again.

“Why do you hate me mal? Why?”

But your question was left unanswered

Suddenly, you felt a small pinch in your arm. You looked down at your arm to see a needle before looking around to see who did it. By the time you saw that you weren’t alone your vision started blurring.

You felt multiple hands grab you but you struggled as to whatever they injected you with was now flowing in your system.

“N-no..l..someone…someone please help!”

Your eye’s flutter open and you can feel your head ache. You groaned at the headache but then you started to feel weird. Very weird.

You didn’t know why, but your heart began to beat very fast for some reason. You look down to see that you were only in a long white nightgown dress.

But something still felt off

You then moved but stopped when you felt a sharp pain on your back. You also heard the sounds of chains hitting the ground and realized that you have chains on both of your wrists. You couldn’t move right as the pain in your back grew more intense.

What happened to you?

Where are you?

Suddenly, you hear a door open and you look up to see a shady man standing by the doorway.

“Your awake”

“Where am I?!” You scream out.

“Woah woah easy there now! No need to get all mad”

“What did you do to me?! You better h-have no-“

“Woah course not! But…we did something even better” He smirks and your eyes widen in fear at what he meant by that. He then calls some people over and you wait in fear.

What you saw next broke your heart as you started to shake in fear, sadness, and in rage.

3 strong tall men come in the room while also carrying something big ... .something big and something that means so much to you.

It was your wings

They have cut off your wings…

“Do you realize how much madol we could make off your wings? Especially since you're also a fae and even a royal fae at that!” He says as he lets out a loud laugh. You just stare at your wings that were held up on display in horror.

“We will be rich boys!”

They all cheered as all you could do was stare in agony.

“Thanks for wandering off all alone in those woods! Now we’ll make millions!”

They continue to cheer in front of you as you begin to cry. The pain from your back where your wings used to be and the pain in your heart was too much for your poor body.

How can people be so cruel?

Suddenly, their cheers were interrupted from a loud bang coming from outside. They stopped and looked at each other.

“What is that?”

“I-“ but before anyone could talk. The door to where you were slammed opened. From what you could make from your blurry vision, it seemed to be a guard.

Wait…a guard?!

“Lady y/n!”

“S-silver?”

You said before your body gave up.

You were back. You were finally back. But when Lilia saw the state that you were in when silver came in the castle holding you with blood covering him and you he felt like everything stopped.

He saw how much blood covered you and your dress. And his eyes widened in horror when he realized that your back had the most blood.

“Father….t-they..those bastards cut off her wings”

Immediately, he called in the royal doctors to clean and treat your wounds. He was devastated for you and felt like he failed you by not keeping you safe.

Those guys will pay for what they have done to you. He’ll make sure of it.

Lilia watches as you peacefully lay down on the bed. You were still unconscious. Maybe it was from the shock.

“I’m sorry I failed you my dear”

The door suddenly opens and he sees a worried malleus. Malleus' eyes then land on you before a look of guilt overcomes his face.

“You can come in” Lilia says. Malleus nods before coming in and closing the door. He didn’t know what to say or do. Still ashamed of his past actions.

It was silent for a moment. None of them said a single word. Until Lilia decided that someone had to speak up.

“The doctors said she will be fine. She is a strong one after all” Malleus nods.

“She’ll wake up in a bit” Again, malleus nods.

“And when she does you better apologize”

“I will. I’m very disappointed in my actions and for causing so much pain and distress to y/n”

Lilia nods.

“Silver asked me to tell you that the guys who did this to y/n are now in the castles dungeon waiting for punishment”

“Very well then” He then gets up

“I want you to stay here and look after her while I’ll go deal with them” Malleus nods. Lilia looks at you one last time before heading out.

Now it was only you and malleus. He hesitates if he should sit down next to you or not. But he decides on the first one.

He sits down and watches as you peacefully sleep. He feels guilty. Extremely guilty. If only he wasn’t so consumed with anger and hatred then maybe this could have all been avoided.

If only he didn’t spit out those cruel words to you that night then maybe you wouldn’t have been in danger.

He hates himself for causing you so much pain

And he’ll respect your wish if you no longer want to see him again or even decide to not marry him.

After all, he was really a piece of shit towards you

“M-mal?” His heart drops and he quickly turns to see you looking at him with curious eyes.

“Y/n” You look around and realize you were back at the palace. But then you quickly gasp when you remember.

“M-my wings…t-those monsters c-cut off my wings!” He could feel his heart ache when tears started rolling down your cheeks.

“I’m sorry….for everything” You were already sitting up as you continued to cry. Malleus didn’t know what to do. He was in distress seeing you crying and not knowing how to comfort you. He quickly got up and sat next to you in the bed as he then pulled you against his chest. He hugged you tightly as you continued to tremble in his arms by how much you were crying.

“My wings! My precious wings!”

“I know I know” He said as he tried to say comforting words as he held you. It was like that for a while until you finally started to calm down. All you could hear in the room was small sniffles coming from you.

Malleus still had a tight hold around you. Well not too tight since he doesn’t want to hurt you, especially your back.

“Y/n…I’m sorry this happened to you. And I also want to apologize about my earlier behavior towards you” You stayed silent.

“I know that my actions and words cannot be forgiven. But I still want you to know that I am truly sorry for the things I have done and said to you”

“And I’ll also make sure that those fools who dare to do this to you pay”

Again you were silent

Malleus didn’t mind your silence. Since again he was also not expecting you to forgive him straight away or even talk to him after everything.

“Malleus” He stiffened a bit when you said his name. Heart racing against his chest. He was nervous.

“I won’t say I’m not forgiving you…but I’m also not saying I’m forgiving you now”

“I will forgive you if you show me you truly are sorry after everything you’ve done” He nods.

“I’ll do anything to show you how truly sorry I am y/n”

You stayed silent and continued letting malleus hug you. You were quite satisfied with malleus answer.

“Very well then”

And trying he did. After malleus left your room to let you rest, he made his way down to the castle dungeon.

Once he got there, the guys were already in bad shape. They were severely beaten and they were already cowering in fear once they saw malleus.

“P-please! Have mercy!”

“W-were very s-sorry for w-what we have done!”

“Mercy? Sorry?!” He says furiously.

These fools have the audacity to beg for mercy and apologize even after what they did to you?!

“You guys have made a huge mistake cutting off a fae’s wings. And for what? Money?! And now you want me to show you mercy and take your apology?!” They shake in fear at malleus rage.

How foolish could these people be?

“From today onwards, you guys will suffer inhumane tortures until you can no longer take it anymore” Lilia says with a sinister grin.

“Guards! Take these fools to the torture chambers” loud pleas and apologies came from the men as they were dragged to the torture chambers.

Lilia then turns to malleus

“Has y/n awakened?”

“She has” Lilia nods.

“Did you apologize?”

“I did”

“And what did she say?”

“She told me that she will forgive me but not right now. I’ll have to work for her forgiveness and I promise I’ll do just that” Lilia smiles before patting malleus back.

“Well then, good luck”

You recovered over time. The people were happy that their future queen was found and safely protected in the palace’s walls.

Malleus and lilia decided to keep your accident a secret away from the people. Not wanting to cause any problems.

Lilia continues to check up on you. After everything that happened, he is scared that something like this will happen again.

But you try to calm him down and tell him that if anything is troubling you, you’ll tell him.

Which has calmed him down a bit. For now.

Silver is delighted that you're back and that now he has more time to spend with you. Whether it be walking around the palace garden, going into town, or even napping with him under some tree. Whatever it is, he doesn’t care because he loves spending time with you.

Sebek is also relieved that they have found you and that you have recovered. But still furious about what those people did to you. So That why he is always by your side 24/7 when you go outdoors, not that you mind.

And malleus. He is doing his absolute best to gain your forgiveness and to insure your safety. He doesn’t want to see you in pain ever again. He would never forgive himself if he saw you in pain again. Whether it be from others or worse, himself.

And you're happy that he is trying his hardest for your forgiveness.

To gain back your trust

and also your love

Here is the long awaited part 2! Yes Ik I did say I wanted to post part 2 of the vil angst and this at the same time but I finished this one early than the vil one so I couldn’t stop myself from posting it right away😓 but I hope part two clears up the bit of confusion from part one! (Why malleus hated reader!)

But! If your still confused. Basically reader’s parents were trying to overtake the throne and so they pretended to be very nice and lovely people which tricked malleus parents! That why he says “I can’t fall into the same trap my parents did!” Because his parents fell into reader’s parents fake kindness. Which resulted their deaths! (I hope that made sense..)

✧ Dan Heng probably knows both a lot and a little about subject of inventing

✧ he read about it and even saw few constructions due to adventuring from planet to planet, but he also never really did it himself

✧ you'll have to introduce him to all the shortcuts while inventing something because he knows just the long and boring way, like instructions said, he'll do the exact steps

✧ he doesn't really mind and find it actually quite interesting to help you around

✧ but if your workshop is loud... he may not be big fan... and if you're trabilazer like him and all the noise is coming from the next room? Yeah, he'd loose it...

"Y/N. How about we go grab some sweets and you finish your work later? I need a break..."

✧ don't get him wrong, he's happy you're working on your skills but he just doesn't like the noise and would much prefer go on a walk while you work

✧ but at least he helps you with cleaning and quieter parts of inventing!

✧ tho if you live on planet and he rarely visits you we it is... he may not mind the noise as much. He's simply more focused on spending some quality time with you than that

✧ and if you need help, he wouldn't mind doing so we long as he's not busy

✧ this boy is so busy and now he also has 2 inventors to help... he often leaves you or Serval mid day to go to another one, so he won't seem like he's playing favorites because he loves you both equally, just in different ways

✧ if you ever struggle with idea, fixing or making something, she's the one you should go for!

✧ she knows you're a bit better than her and will often mention it, not because she had low self-esteem but because she's proud girlfriend and wants to compliment you

"Hehe~ C'mon, you're the best at it! You need to teach me your trick someday, alright? In exchange... I could take you on a date next week! I'll clear my schedule so we can spend entire day with each other."

✧ expect her to be a little flirty from time to time when you work, sneaking little notes between not important machines so you'll wonder why it's not working just to find love letter there, or send some flying little robot with hear or chocolates on it... many can happen when she's in the playful mood!

✧ and when you're together, he'll often drop by to see how you're doing and he'll you around

✧ and when he can't come check up on you because of his work... he'll simply send someone to you! It can be either Cloud Knight on patrol or Yanqing passing by

✧ he loves seeing how much you can do with just the idea and materials. So he'll sometimes sit down next to you and watch you work

✧ his favorite thing is to see the project developed all the way from simple scratch to finished product

✧ he'll also remind you of breaks, taking you out for something sweet or to restaurant whenever you finish project you've been working for days

"It looks great, my dear. Now let's go eat something. My treat. Trust me, you deserve it for all the good work you did there."

daddy's home - izuku x reader

cw: horror themes, you and izuku have a child, villain!deku, yandere!deku, mentions of murder, violence, fem!reader summary: izuku’s family misses him, and he misses them in return. (~2.1k words) a/n: reposting this on father's day cuz i love problems. part 2 here.

By the time you make it to your daughter’s bustling preschool class, you’ve managed to calm down your heart rate to a steady, human pace. A few tiny humans whizz past you on the playground that leads up to the front door, and it’s enough to make you unsteady given how lightheaded you are already. However, one foot before the other, you still make it to the teacher who holds your daughter’s hand. She eyes you a little warily, probably noticing the very slight wobble to your footsteps, but smiles back in response to your forced smile.

“She did great today, Mrs. Midoriya!” She exclaims, turning to the bushy-haired four-year-old that’s jumping up and down in excitement. “Didn’t you?!”

“Yes, Mrs. Sato!” She nods emphatically before weaseling herself out of her grasp to hug around your legs. “Hi, Mommy!”

You crack another smile, forcing the uneasiness out of your expression for the sake of your daughter as you scoop her up in your arms. She’s still very light, as she’s always been small for her age, but her weight steadies you a little bit and you hug her close.

“Hi, baby, I missed you,” you offer her, kissing her forehead. “Thank you so much,” you mouth at the teacher as you make your way back to the car, nodding enthusiastically through your daughter’s terribly excited chatter. You can feel Ms. Sato’s eyes at your back as you leave, and wonder if it’s because you aren’t hiding your anxiety well or… the other thing.

There’s an odd thing about your daughter that you’ve only noticed recently.

No matter how excited she is to see you or wired up from a fun-filled day of school, the moment you strap her into the car seat, she seems to sober up immediately. It’s unnerving - she becomes silent and almost solemn - to the point that you find yourself glancing carefully at her through the rear view mirror. Her emerald green eyes look at you curiously but her expression is far too neutral for a child and it distresses you enough that you find yourself forcing conversation in the car. Today you notice that the freckles on her cheeks appear to have multiplied, possibly due to the recent sunny weather, and she looks even more like her father. This is especially apparent when she frowns intermittently - something she stops the moment she sees that you’re watching.

You hate it.

“What did you learn today, honey?” You ask, trying to keep the mood light.

Her eyes brighten for a split second and you hope it will linger, but they return back to normal as she lowers them and answers your question.

“Addition… a-and subtraction…” she pauses and thinks for a moment, before she adds, “um, and something about personal space and making sure that you’re polite to other people.”

It tracks, you think.

“Did you have fun with your friends?” You ask as you make one of the first three turns into your gated home. From the estate entrance to the front door is another ten minutes of driving, and in the next three, you’ll have to remember to look ahead for biometric testing.

“Mmhmm! Did you know Akane is my new best friend?” She asks, leaning forward to hold onto the back of your headrest. It comforts you that she sounds a little bit more excited like her normal cheery self again.

“Oh! Tell me about Akane!”

“She’s very nice and she’s the only one who told Mrs. Sato’s helper that it wasn’t nice to call Daddy a murderer and…”

You don’t hear the rest of what she says. Your blood runs cold, and you swallow hard.

“I-is that what Mrs. Sato’s helper said?” you repeat finally once you can no longer hear her high-pitched voice. You pass through the second gate after raising your hand to the glass to read your fingerprints.

You watch her again as she leans back into her seat, crossing her arm.

“She did and I know it’s not true,” she pouts.

You wish you could be that convinced. It would have saved you a lot of heartache once you were forced to finally accept the truth.

Heroes disappearing, one by one, without a trace. The slowly shifting look in your husband’s eyes as he started to return home later and later. The constant hand-washing, a nervous habit you thought was far too sudden to develop. The oddly-timed and inconsistent tears during the day, and laughter you’d heard surreptitiously in the middle of the night when Denki was found hacked into irregular pieces, stuffed into a duffle bag at the bottom of a river.

It was almost cliché, how extreme the descent was, the process of watching your husband go slowly mad - mumbling something about Heroes being a stain on society, none of them practicing what they preached. It was something he had whispered into your ears more and more over the nights, and something you’d had attributed to burnout and frustration. It made sense. The idea of losing your childhood to something so idealistic only to find out that there was less of the saving of people and more the pursuit of money and fame. That’s how you’d ended up with this huge home after all, wasn’t it? He’d bought it for his little family of three and you still hadn’t moved out, had you?

The last biometric gate involves a wide smile to the camera, but you don’t feel happy. It recognizes your face, and announces a robotic “Welcome home.”

You don’t feel so welcome.

Your daughter kicks her feet as she chomps through a snack of carrots, celery and peanut butter and connects dots with lines. You sit next to her, eating the extra parts she doesn’t finish - she’s picked up an odd habit of leaving the ends of her carrots untouched recently. You’ve thought about pushing her to eat the rest of her food but her father was always better at encouraging her to eat so you don’t bother. It’s the least of your problems.

You are thankful that she doesn’t say that she misses him at mealtimes anymore, but you wonder how much of it is in order to spare your own feelings.

Sometimes you wonder if she has a special Quirk that is taking too long to manifest, one that makes her sense emotions far too astutely for a girl her age, but that’s impossible.

Quirks no longer work on your property.

At least you hope they don’t. You have to remind yourself that in order to feel safe in your own home. Every day you return home, you curse yourself for not having moved out the second Izuku disappeared without a trace, but you’d wanted so desperately to give your daughter a sense of normalcy. Enrolling her in school far from your home and fortifying this mansion was enough. In fact, it was probably the safest place for you, safer than any apartment you could find in Japan.

I’ll be back for you, don’t worry, he’d promised, as he’d marched out of your home, surrounded by Pro Heroes and police prepared to subdue him by any means necessary. It felt more like a threat than anything even though his voice was sweet enough you would think he was kissing you goodbye while on his way to work.

Did he know you’d turned him in? The idea made your stomach turn. You hadn’t wanted to do it, but the desperation with which you wanted to fix him rather than turn a blind eye to his crimes had pushed you to it. You wanted him back, your sweet husband who only wanted to help people, not the crazed being that looked back at you through the reinforced glass walls with a deranged smile as he tore through the nearly hundred-strong crowd in your yard, leaving not a single person alive.

The spray of blood painting your home was so thick you couldn’t tolerate the color red for a week. Now those same walls were dull and gray with metal that was promised unbreakable to you. No natural sunlight had entered this home for months now, turning it into more of a fortress than a home.

You missed your husband and your old life terribly.

“All done!” your daughter chirps. You look over her work and offer her an hour of her favorite show, letting her sit in your lap as she sings the songs along with the television. You clap together and wonder if she’s as lonely as you are.

Your phone buzzes suddenly, and you pick it up without looking, pressing it to your ear.

“Hi, honey.”

You nearly choke on your own saliva and your mind starts to race. The uneasy feeling from this afternoon must not have been made up; perhaps it was the sense that Izuku was also thinking about you. Before you can regain the presence of mind to turn off your phone, he’s one step ahead.

“Don’t you dare hang up.”

His voice is stern and freezes you into place. Your daughter notices that you’re no longer playing with her hair and turns to face you.

“Who’s that? Is that Daddy?” She asks. You open your mouth and close it. Izuku on the other hand picks up on the extra voice, and sounds delighted.

“Ah, is that my little girl? Let me hear her voice.”

“I-Izuku, please, she’s-” you begin to plead.

“Pass the phone over to her, love.” He replies, and you can almost hear him smiling on the other end of the line. It’s not a warm smile - it’s the smile he had on his face when you saw him snap someone’s neck with his bare hands. “Let me speak to my daughter.”

Shakily, you put the phone on speaker, and place it closer to her. Izuku starts to speak.

“How have you been, princess?” He says, far too cheerily for a man who has made a heel face-turn into villainy.

“Daddy! Are you coming home?” She begs. “Please come home! Me and mommy miss you, and people are saying lies about you and there’s a monster under my bed so now I sleep with mommy but I want to sleep with you too.”

“Oh, of course, honey bunches, I’ll be there very soon.”

“You promise?”

“Of course, baby. I promised Mommy I’ll be back. She can’t get rid of me.”

Your stomach turns. These are all lies. There’s no way. This place is tried and true, and 100% impenetrable to anyone, no matter how strong the Quirk. There is just no way he will make it in unless you let him in, and you absolutely, will not, let him anywhere near you or your child unless he gets the help he needs.

You hope desperately he’ll get the help he needs.

The phone has long since shut off and your daughter is grinning ear to ear.

“Can we turn on the lights? It’s dark outside, I don’t want Daddy to get lost.”

You offer her a pained smile.

“I think he’ll find his way just fine,” you say, holding her tightly. It’s time for her to get a bath and maybe you too. Anything to calm your nerves.

The two of you lay together in bed, and you hold her tightly to your chest.

“Can we stay up and wait for Daddy?” she asks. You rub her forehead slowly with your thumb and try to hold back your tears. Your phone’s screen lights on and off but you’ve stopped looking an hour ago.

“He’ll be here soon,” you reply, trying to keep the waver out of your voice. “He’ll be happy if you’re asleep when he gets here. That will mean you’re a very good girl.”

She smiles warmly and wraps the blanket he gave her on her birthday tightly around her. You place the other larger duvet cover over her, trying to resist the urge to cover your own head. The bedroom is locked but you know it’s futile. You are not safe.

He’s already made it past the first two gates.

“We’re gonna play a game where we try to go to sleep with the lights on, but it means you have to be really, really quiet and shut your eyes really, really tight.” you whisper into her ear.

“Okay,” she whispers. “Why aren’t we sleeping in your room?” she still manages to ask. “Daddy’s not gonna have any space when he gets here.”

She’s right. You’re crammed into a twin bed in the corner of a guest room that has been unused since you bought this home. Really, it’s more like storage than anything else. It’s a silly place to hide, but it’ll buy you some time, you’ve convinced yourself.

“When he comes, he’ll carry you to the other room, okay?” You reply. She seems to like that idea, and snuggles up to you closer.

“I want us to be a family again,” she insists.

So do I, you tell yourself.

Your phone alerts you that the third gate has been breached.

Your daughter is fast asleep by the time you hear the first bang on the front door. The aftershock of his blow reverberates through the whole house.

Looks like his Quirk isn’t affected.

You have no idea how your daughter can sleep through what feels like an earthquake, but you’re thankful that maybe, just maybe she’ll be able to be spared from what will happen next.

There’s another blow that comes with a crash that can only mean a wall, somewhere, is crumbling to pieces.

Welcome home, you think, with a teary, defeated smile.

Loves it when you show off your powerful kicks and strength, and also likes it when you protect him. Can’t help but giggle when he sees how quickly you regenerate and says how freaky and cool it is

Teru Minamoto

He didn’t like you at all at first, he wanted to get rid of you even if it meant bringing you to the sun to burn. You’re a demon which means you’re nothing but evil who eats humans

But when sensed no dark aura from you and only sensed kindness and innocence from you, he instead watched you from afar at first and when he confirmed that you were in fact different, he instead got close to you and you both eventually ended up in a relationship with you

Thinks the bamboo in your mouth makes you very adorable and will offer you a mask instead to make it less suspicious. Will have a comfortable sofa in the student council room just for you to sleep in and Akane loves to make fun of Teru for being so cheesy which never ends well for him

It’s when he let you meet Kou and Tiara when he found out about how protective you are when it comes to family and loves to watch how you interact with his siblings

Although he wouldn’t want you to, he lets you if you really wanted to help him exorcise ghosts and knows that you can defend yourself well with your strength alone

Kou Minamoto

Wanted to get rid of you to prove that he can be strong enough to get rid of something, even a powerful demon

Kou sees the good in a lot of people so it didn’t take long to see that you had no ill intentions and you were just an innocent demon that wanted to protect instead

He wonders if the bamboo always in your mouth gets gross or unsanitary so he offers you new mouth pieces or more small bamboo sticks if you really wanted to stick with your bamboo look

He can’t exactly offer you meat but he will offer you raw animal meat instead which is still weird but he hopes it works the same. But when he sees sleeping works just as well, he offers you to use his lap as a pillow even if he gets flustered the whole time

He admires your strength and hopes to be as strong as you and will ask if you can help him train to be as physically as strong as you

Nene Yashiro

She was skeptical of you from the way you always had your mouth covered and mostly spoke with sounds instead of talking but any skepticism is immediately gone when she saw how adorable and kind you actually were

Yashiro thought that you were adorable and although she was scared when she found out you were a demon, she didn’t care. She knew you didn’t want to eat anyone, you were different and wanted to protect you at all costs even if she wasn’t as physically strong as you, which still amazes her

Although she knows you can’t eat human food, she still offers you cooked meat in disguise when you’re both in public and hopes it gives you some energy.

Offers you her shoulder or lap to sleep on and looks at you in awe when you sleep and thinks you’re so adorable. Sometimes she ends up sleeping with you with her head leaning on top of yours which I was leaning on her shoulder

Loves to carry you when you’re small and sometimes has you stuffed in a backpack just so she can carry you around when the suns out

Aoi Akane

She knew something was off when she met you but didn’t really have any thoughts about it and even when she found out, she didn’t really care

Aoi knew how she felt towards you and had no problem with you being a demon. Plus you being so cute takes part in her not minding at all, loves it when you shrink and pampers you with cute accessories and clothes as if you’re a doll

An immediate power couple when it comes to looks; speaking of clothes, the way you have your mouth covered is a very creative and cute way in her eyes. Decorated your bamboo stick or mouth mask with stickers even if it’ll most likely fall off or get ruined

She’ll gladly let you sleep on her or have you shrink to fit in her bag to let you sleep and will even cover the inside with a blanket and plushies so you can sleep more comfortably

I always thought there was something unhealthy about Akane’s relationship with Aqua. And while I don’t think she had ill intent, personally, it’s just like a lot of people you may have met that also either had depression or have very unstable support systems -- they tend to depend heavily on people who did treat them with kindness and gave them affection. Albeit, not by their conscious effort to use people, simply a reflex driven by a personal need to feel useful and appreciated by the people they feel love for.

Spoilers after the break.

In many scenes after Akane’s attempt during the LoveNow arc, it’s shown that she’s become to give a lot of herself to whatever it is she thought Aqua would need of her. She was happy to give those things, including:

Act as his dream girl

Be his showbiz girlfriend even with her awareness that he’s using her

Help him kill somebody in the industry

Bear his emotional burdens

Kissing and sex, even during their showbiz relationship

Listening to her romantic rival brag about their steakhouse date and be cool with it

Being in a relationship with somebody who she knows still bears feelings for somebody else

Being okay with getting bugged/GPS-tracked if only he said so

Tracking down his father for him

Confronting and possibly killing him herself so Aqua doesn’t have to

I do think that Akane genuinely believes she was being helpful. She believes doing these were all good things.

But what she doesn’t really realize is that she was, in a way, being an enabler to Aqua’s darkness, or triggering his traumatic feelings even further.

There was something consuming about their time together.

I felt like, Akane was absorbing him somehow. Not in the literal sense. But their relationship was one where they fed into each other’s darkness. She wanted Aqua to be more dependent on her, and he was kind of glad to have someone enable his delusions--whether that he would find and kill his father, or that it was all over and he should just stay with Akane because it was the safe, scandal-free relationship to have. In Akane he found a brief respit, but also he continued to lie to himself a lot.

He gives this up when he realizes that even with Akane, being with her puts her in danger. It was the very opposite of the thing he hoped to achieve in that relationship, when he said he wanted to protect her.

In really stark contrast, Arima Kana says things like this:

She just snaps him right out of a fucking monologue.

Whenever Aqua tries to bear everything by himself, she reminds him crudely that he never had to protect her, and that he’s supposed to learn how to communicate:

In a way, it’s Kana’s radical honesty and her core understanding of who the true Aqua is all along that will set him towards the path of real freedom and healing.

Of everybody, she’s the one who knows what Aqua is like when he was at his best. And every time they’re together, they draw out the light from each other.

That, instead of Akane who says “I’ll go to hell with you if you ask”, Kana just says, “Wake the fuck up”.

So often, being stuck in your trauma also means that you need help getting out of it. You need good support systems to remind you that your trauma isn’t all that you are. And this all-consuming guilt you’ve borne on your shoulders isn’t really there anymore--you just believe that it is because that’s exactly what trauma does.

I think, despite Akane’s best attempts to remind him that things weren’t his fault, and that he doesn’t have to carry burdens by himself, the fact that she enjoyed being useful to him was, in some way, also keeping him there.

I know that there are a lot of great Kana moments after the baseball scene, but I’ve come to love coming back to their first time meeting each other again.

Even in her first re-appearance in the story, when Aqua was being all angsty emo sadboie about his acting career, Kana’s immediate reaction is to hire him, and believe in him.

Kana just wants to see him shine, too.

your posts about this newest chapter are so real because it disappointed me so much.

It was way too lighthearted and just seemed like a huge joke. I was expecting the trial to have suspense where you can really feel for the characters and wonder what will happen next, but it just ended up being comedic. It was funny, I’ll give it that, but I really really wanted some angst.

This may just be me, but Teru felt so out of canon to me. I can understand him putting on that “flawless student council” mask but it feels odd considering he is around mostly supernaturals. He is shown to be very intelligent and considering he is an exorcist and they are school mysteries why tf would that “look at how beautiful I am I could never” argument work. It was funny, sure, but just seemed out of canon for him.

Akane felt a little out of canon too to me? Probably not but he seemed to fully accept his role as a judge with little to no guilt at all. We don’t really get him looking guiltily at Teru or feeling frustrated, he’s just kind of there. Probably because (as always) the story focused on Hanako, Yashiro, and Tsukasa.

NOW UGHH TSUKASA IS SO FAVORITED ITS PAINFUL. You’re telling me after all that suspense around the clock keepers he takes them out in TWO PANELS. The clock keepers seem like a fucking joke in this chapter instead of the powerful mysterious beings they have shown to be previously.

Overall I expected something much more satisfying and I hope next chapter will be a little better because the last chapter got me so excited for nothing.

That's a mood ya-rr-ow. Big mood.

Many people enjoyed the chapter, and I'm happy for them, but I was also majorly disappointed so I'll talk about what you mentioned here and add some other things.

(I will just focus on the negatives here so if you're feeling hyped about the chapter. I am sorry, I wouldn't recommend reading this)

Okay let's go

Chapter 108 went out of its way to create a tense atmosphere, it was mostly a set up and hype piece for the trial.

Mirai was a beast, but Akane was the one that really set up the tone. He had the power to make Teru harmless, which only hyped up the other clock keepers since he is the lowest ranking keeper. Mirai and Kako's supposed power was said to be dangerous enough to make Akane, who hates supernaturals and is so firm in his beliefs, feel cornered, switch sides to 'do his duties', his vague words hinting that there is more to this trial than it seems on the surface.

So I don't think we were being delusional to expect this trial to be dramatic. To have angst. Or at least, character dept. To be important.

But despite the trial being the title, the spotlight, we got none of it: Not only is the trial treated as a joke, which I already don't vibe with considering how tense the atmosphere in chapter 108 is. It is an empty joke.

It doesn't teach us anything about the characters, it doesn't give any new information. Nothing.

Hanako's trial was a gag. He isn't even my priority character, but considering how he have the title of 'leader of the mysteries' and had been put on trial before for the Yorishiro's destruction, it is a baffling choice to make Kako not mention this big BIG crime when judging him.

Nene's trial 'revealed' she likes Hanako and want to confess to him. Which she has been doing this whole manga.

We could talk about her time crimes (every time travel that made her meet Amane), try to bargain her lifespan since this is the main conflict in the story and they are talking to the keepers of time. They could talk about her crime of helping to destroy the yorishiros with Hanako, or just acknowledge she is still a threat since she is the Kannagi, the only one capable of ripping their yorishiro in the first place. But no, those are stupid, let's spend 4 full pages of a monthly manga to tease a confession she already did in the very previous chapter.

Teru revealed he has some craving for destruction on him. Which surprise, surprise! It also isn't new information! How nice!

( I talked about his love for the idea of destruction and how it's almost an escapism recently, here you go if you're curious)

About Teru and Akane's acting weird. That's not them being ooc, that's Aidairo making a narrative choice to not take anything serious, including his own characters. Everyone is acting like themselves, and nothing contradicts what has been established about their personalities, but their competence has been drastically downgraded to move the plot quickly.

Teru has the bad habit of becoming pathetic when he has strong feelings, like locking himself in his room and hiding under the covers after his fight with Kou, immediately hitting Akane's stab wound when he is too late to rescue aoi cause the situation stressed him. So it is in character that he wants to kill Akane, who has always been his stress relief.

However, because Teru takes things so personally, and it was stablished in chapter 108 that Teru is way more bothered by Akane's betrayal than being in a court of law, it makes no sense that he treat it as a normal court instead of using his very obvious alibi that he couldn't destroy the clock because he was with Akane. Teru doesn't turn this court into the confrontation that would bring attention to their split up, doesn't go "Are you doing to deny my alibi now?? betray me again??" or question "So? We are here! Why did it had to be now??" or anything that builds up on the last chapter to expand it.

Cause Aidairo decided the court doesn't matter. The build up doesn't matter. Once more, the consequences are an afterthought. We don't need the answers to anything.

Akane is still guilty, he can't look at Teru in the eye, can't defend him, but he goes "!!!" when Teru finally calls for him, paying full attention.

But this is comedic. And as i mentioned above, Teru doesn't say anything useful, anything with more depth than what we already know: that he is angry by Akane's betrayal and hasn't forgiven him.

We TRULY are given nothing in this trial.

Which is insane, cause even the promo art had details to build intrigue, a vague idea that while the chapter would be comedic in nature, it would explain more about the clock keepers, or at least expand on their boundaries.

Like, what are those numbers on the scale? will they be judged by year? Will a lie make their time be stolen? oooh what could it be! Can't wait for the chapter!

And the chapter comes, and there is nothing. The whole trial feels like filler. They treated the audience as a fool for being excited.

That's why this big twist at the end? I don't care.

As you said Tsukasa is overpowered, they are Aidairo's golden child. And they will break established lore rules and make a joke out of everyone else just cause he can.

It's not just Teru and Akane who were nerfed to make the plot move faster, not allowed to have any proper focus. The clock keepers were also a joke, acting 'in character' but more incompetent than they have been stablished to be.

Tsukasa op moment doesn't make me go "wow he is so cool" it made me look at the clock keepers and go "You are all are stupid"

Cause Tsukasa has the judgment seal?? And he was already sentenced as guilty??? There are three clock keepers in the room too? So why not... you know... restrict him again...?

The clock keepers is a school rumor that was introduced all the way back in chapter 23. Like you said they are supposed to be super op! They are a mystery so hyped up that just Mirai's power (who isn't the strongest keeper) can throw the intire school into chaos in the Near Shore, where supernaturals are debuffed.

Even before Tsukasa attacked he made the clock keepers act incompetent, to make him look more mysterious and cool in comparison.

These very old and supposedly op school mysteries know Yugi Amane is Hanako, but they don't know who Amane's twin brother 'Tsukasa' is, they also don't refer to him as a yorishiro despite the seal being in his face, and use titles for every other character (Leader of the school mysteries. Kannagi. Student Body Representative)

Which might look like a small thing, silly nitpick, but it shows the favoritism isn't just for a twist. Aidairo naturally likes Tsukasa more than his own narrative, and is willing to make others be less competent for the sake of it.

I don't think Kako will die. That would objectively be bad writing at this point. He'll probably be back in the next chap, a la "teru got fucked up by No.6" and "Akane got stabbed by Aoi but he lives bitch" or even "i always had a ton of clones, like Mei of the art room" but it is still disappointing to see him and Mirai get fucked up in their own boundary after all the hype they have accumulated through the story.

There is a hint Akane can be a yorishiro at the end of the chapter, and that is cool, genuinely really cool, but I am tired of getting excited over possibilities and 'promises for the future'. I want something concrete.

Speaking of which, I don't think Akane will die. This is just another bait to keep reading like when No.6 slashed Teru, Kou, and Akane and we didn't get any answers for a few months before 'oh well nothing happened :) no consequences to be had here folks!'

"But Tsukasa has always killed everyone that he pulled the heart of! there is Mitsuba, and The puffer fish of the mermaid, and the previous No.3 (the bird)" And to that I say I trust Akane's ability to say fuck to fate.

My boy gets new death flags every year, he collects them like pokemon cards, you all should have gotten used to it.

He also survived his bae stabbing him, this isn't new. Sucks to be Tsukasa and die by a stab in the gut and all but Akane is built differently (quite literally with two bodies).

He is also in his own boundary, so if Aoi doesn't kill him while in the territory of another mystery, but he dies in No.1's boundary I will... idk probably just sigh.

In short, Aidairo treated this as joke, so I will treat their cliffhanger as one too. Give me reasons to care in chapter 110. Cause at the moment? I don't.

Well, let's remember that when going back in time some people keep their memory intact. As in the case of strong supernaturals and people like the Minamotos.

Remembering this, Teru won't forget what happened even though they went back in time, and Nene won't forget either. So you ask me, why won't Nene forget?

When Mirai ran away and brought the school and people's time forward, Nene was there and followed everything from the beginning, well before falling unconscious when her time was brought forward.

Kako turned back time, he went back to the moment Mirai had escaped and advanced time, Nene shouldn't remember that Mirai had escaped, but she does.

In other words, she will not be affected by this return to time, which means that there is something special about Nene that we don't know yet.

Knowing these factors, Akane said this to Teru knowing that he will remember even after time goes back. Which means Teru must protect Nene.

Maybe to prevent her from trying to do the same thing she did in the arc of number six and trying to make things go back to the way they were. Either Teru will protect her, or he will try to prevent her from doing something like that.

Assuming Nene actually remembers that time has returned, because we don't have confirmation that she isn't affected. But, from the expression she made at the end of the chapter, I believe she knows.

About what I thought about the chapter, hmm…. It didn't surprise me much, Tsukasa's reaction to what Amane said was already expected, the guardians coming back was something I was hoping would happen, because I didn't want to accept that it was so easy, them going back in time was also expected, after all they are the keepers of time.

The only thing that surprised me was the year, 1968, that left me intrigued, I'm still trying to connect the dots to understand what Akane did and what change it generated.

And a bonus, I was irritated that they disturbed the conversation between the twins, they were finally talking and they disturbed them again!!

PPP Novel is out❣️

...just in time for the Lunar New Year Eve, Feb. 9th. 🎉

Noitamina Shop will hold Arata Shindo-kun's bday campaign and at the same time promotes the PPP novel sale 🥂🥳.

Why Kogami removed his jacket during his balcony scene

And his answer were simple. Kogami didn't know the difference of wearing it inside or outside. At first, I thought it was some kind of a funny little joke, or I didn't understand the words full well (I'm not a full-bred Japanese though I studied Nihonggo way back in grade school).

But if you read the PPP novel, you will realize Kogami isn't fully adjusted from his traumatic experiences as a mercenary overseas 🤧. So he doesn't feel how to act just as he used to when he's back.

And ofcourse, we all know he and Saiga only emptied the liquor after long hours of chatting and Tonami profiling.

2. It's interesting that the writing team have taken the pulse of the fans during the Q&A session, thus some points in PPP novel is what we might've expect after all 🤭.

3. Some may say it's nothing new. As it seems the writing team pretty much remain loyal to the movie summary. But if you read between the lines, you realize how it is a bit forgiving & fan-serving, compare to the movie itself 👍🏻.

4. The locations...last minute alterations... 😆😂.

5. And ofcourse the last time Akane spent with Saiga on his detention cell 😭. She literally blame herself for asking him to come to them on Dejima in MoFA's HQ to retrieve the Stronskaya Papers a day after. Which we all know ended tragically.

6. She pulls the trigger. She question the justice. Which quotes the same kind of line from PP3 novel when she's writing her thoughts down in an analogue typewriter. From that scene she thought of Kogami's action and how Sybil judged him for that.

But in PPP novel, no doubt she puts into consideration the life of Atsushi Shindo and how he was used as a pawn, only to be a master pawn who puppets the life of another pawn like what happened to Akira Ignatov.

Aswell as Akira Ignatov's sacrifice. He volunteered to be a puppet for the sake of the future generation. For the sake of his brother in particular 😢😓😓😢.

7. Frede-chan's holding back and being indecisive to keep the truth about the mission to Kogami. Is like keeping her phone number to her crush 😹🤭. Sure, she's just conscious how would Kou-chan would react since she knows Saiga and him are pretty close 😮‍💨.

8. The writing team did a pretty good job by staying true to their plot work. They know what they're doing. As if taken up some piece of advice from Gege Akutami 😅😂.

9. The last scene is pretty much heart-aching but well executed 😘🤌🏻❤️

10. The General was a medical AI but I wonder if the creator of Sybil also created that?... how about BiFrost? Oh hello, Season 4! We're waving at you ☺️😀!

11. Many hate Akane for trying to control Kogami, again?! Let me get this straight, SHE ISN'T CONTROLLING ANYONE!

There's a MASSIVE difference when he a.) first pulled the trigger against Makishima (out of revenge) and when he b.) pulls that against Tonami.

Akane knows it best.

a) She doesn't want him to be a person swallowed by revenge like Sasuke (Naruto).

b) She hopes Kogami is back for the better but instead he acted again with his animal instinct which indicates he can still be easily outplayed by emotions instead of not letting it get the human out of him.

Akane still looks up to Kogami. She knows he was labeled as a latent criminal by Sybil. But the way Kou acted is like proving to Sybil that their labeling of him as latent criminal was right. And if there's one thing Akane isn't fond of, that is proving Sybil right.

So it's not about Kogami. It's about her campaign against Sybil's false and unfair judgement! So don't mock her! 😖

Lastly, PPP novel is enjoyable because a lot of fans are exerting efforts to translate it to English for fans abroad. Kudos to you all❣️

Some OnK Chapter 131 Thoughts

And by "OnK" thoughts, I predictably mean "Akane and AquaKane" thoughts lol

Once again, Akane is the one correcting surface-level statements and showing insight into Aqua (and even Ruby!).

I've been wondering how Aka would have Akane and Aqua interact after Chapter 116. I'm actually surprised that they were so at ease with each other during this chapter, it's like they overcame a hurdle in Chapter 116.

Akane knows where Aqua stands, just like Aqua knows where she stands. For Akane in particular, deciding to stop Aqua's plan likely gave her something tangible to hold onto; something practical that she can focus on, a way in which she can make an actual difference. For Aqua, knowing that Akane is planning to stop him told him that she will keep getting involved with him whether he likes it or not.

Of course, since Aqua is always fighting his own nature, he probably likes it in the same measure in which he hates it. Akane burning the bridge with him would be for Akane's own good, and thus what Aqua wants - but there's likely a part of him that is relieved to know that she is still there.

He may not be able to rely on her, but the person who saved him little by little simply by acknowledging him, understanding him and choosing him is still there. She hasn't given up on him.

And it just so happens that Akane is not willing to let Aqua forget that.

I think Akane may have gone there for two reasons. On one hand, she is probably keeping an eye on his every move; she needs to, if she doesn't want to let Aqua catch her by surprise.

On the other hand, Akane likely knew that Aqua would have mixed feelings after meeting Ai's mother.

So I think that by going there, Akane was also hoping to emotionally support Aqua. Just like she promised she would back in Chapter 51.

After all, if Akane wanted to simply watch Aqua, she could've done so without revealing her presence; the same way she managed to follow him all the way there.

But just like Aqua wanted Akane to see him back in Chapter 116, Akane wanted Aqua to know she was there.

The way she throws his stalker tendencies in his face is so funny! Despite the gloomy atmosphere, the two of them instantly fall into a very easy-going back-and-forth and I love that. It's not what I was expecting at all (I love tension), but I'll take it because it's positive that they can joke around about personal traits that anyone else would see as flaws lmao

Plus, good on her for serving Aqua some of his own medicine!

I already mentioned this, but this exchange right here immediately made me think of Chapter 52.

Funnily enough, that Chapter was titled "Boyfriend x Girlfriend" and featured the moment Aqua and Akane truly started playing their parts. And in this chapter, we have Memcho describing Akane's current role in Aqua's life: His ex-girlfriend.

Aqua and Akane have gone through so many stages in the manga, I can hardly keep count. Right now they're in their "Exes" era, yet they're still as entwined as ever lol

And now we get to the part that truly caught my eye. I feel like this interaction can be read in different ways:

There's more to Ayumi Hoshino that meets the eye. Akane knows this but doesn't want Aqua to know, and he can tell but decides to play along.

Akane understands how frustrating it must be to find out that the tragedy that was Ai Hoshino began due to something like this. What's more, she understands how Aqua must feel seeing Ai's mother and knowing that... there's no point in him hating her, because she already hates herself enough for both of them.

The first would fit the Masterminds™ game that these two are supposed to be playing, and as such it would be pretty fun. But we have seen Akane lie to Aqua in the past and she is... kind of very bad at it lol

Maybe she's bringing her S Acting Skill Level to the game this time, and I'd applaud her for doing so if she is. But for the time being, I'm leaning towards the second option:

Akane knew that knowing Ayumi's truth would give Aqua mixed feelings and that he may stay stuck on that, and so she came to help take that burden off his shoulders.

And good thing she did, because as Ichigo put it: Aqua is breaking.

That said, there's something kind of ominous about the way we're shown Ai's mom looking at them in the last panel. I can't decide whether it symbolizes Ai's mom seeing her grandson (the one she thought she had no right to meet) leaving her and her pain behind, accompanied by someone who is obviously a part of his life - as well as Aqua deciding that indeed, Akane is right: there's no point in hating Ai's mom anymore, because she is already living in a hell of her own making.

Or if maybe Ai's mom is hiding something. I seem to remember one of the sidestories mentioning that she even put glass shards in Ai's food once, which kind of sent a very different image of her compared to the regretful woman we saw this chapter lol

Alas, for now I'm going with Option 1 though, because I think there's something really beautiful in the symbolism of Akane coming to pick Aqua up, and the two walking away from that painful memory together so that Aqua doesn't have to wallow in it alone.

Ruby was hoping that Aqua would start to lean on people soon. As it is, he can't lean on anyone - but Akane is still there to guide him home either way, and luckily Aqua let himself accept that much.

⊱ he turned around way to quick, as if he was scared just to notice you and he immidietly let out small sigh

"I just thought you looked lonely!"

⊱ his heart warmed up on your explanation as small, barely visible smile showed on his face

⊱ he thanked you in words and by treating you to some of your favorite snack later

⊱ most likely will say that your head pats are soft and actually made his day better but don't go around and spread that around... that information is just for your ears only!

⊱ now whenever he's just dozing off, he can feel himself being waked up by your hand on his head and his stern look always turns into small smile, no matter how often you do it

⊱ he's not the one to give head pats himself but if you ask him he'll do it for you too

⊱ Welt's first reaction is simply being surprised. He'll literally look at you as if you caught him off guard with this before finally smiling gently with relief

⊱ he'll be polite and thank you before he asks for the reason behind it, he's not against the head pats, he just wanted to know why you did that just now of all times!

"Thank you, it's really nice of you to do that. But may I know the reason behind it?"

⊱ and when you tell him history about how you did it because he looked lonely and how your mother used to give you them, he'll be charmed

⊱ he thinks of it as a cute gesture and will not hesitate to show you the same kindness if you ask him for it

⊱ he'll not give you them out of his own free will tho... not because he dislikes but because it's not in his reflex

⊱ when you're seeming down or lonely, his first reaction is to rub your back and comfort you so it was probably Himeko who told him to do the same for you...

⊱ Gepard reaction for your head pats always includes small blush accompanied by smile alongside

⊱ but there's actually a small difference between his reactions, depending if you catch him off guard or if he sees that coming

⊱ if you catch him off guard, he'll be more flustered and will show you how happy that headpat made him later

⊱ if he sees it coming tho, he'll still be just a tiny bit flustered but smile will appear almost immidietly on his face

⊱ he won't even move when you're giving him head pats since he doesn't want you to stop anytime soon and just enjoyed the affection he gets

⊱ if you tell him about how you did it because he seemed lonely and how your mother used to have them to you, he'll think it's so cute and adore your head pats even more

"That's really cute gesture of yours, thank you. I am sure your mother is an amazing women."

⊱ somehow he got that habit from you and now whenever you're waiting for him or seeme down, his hand immidiely wanders on the top of your head

Reaction to the fact that someone tried to kill you

Makota Naegi: You've become good friends with him during your stay at Hope's Peak, so it's safe to say that his luck extends to you as well. Passing by honey. Strange noises were heard from a crack in the doorway in the office. Not afraid, Makoto opened the door and saw how they were trying to kill you. Thus scared off your killer. Don't worry, everyone will know your killer.

Kyoko Kirigiri: As usual, walking around the school, but not on the first floor. A strange feeling could not leave her, which was leading to the scene of a future crime. When he met Makoto, it was clear from his face that something had happened. She approached with a quick step. I saw your killer and you with hematomas on your body. Now he is watching him.

Celestia Ludenburg: “Someone here can't adapt?” still with this mask says Celes. Surprisingly, you also have a good relationship with her. Can't do anything against your killer. But now the two of you are walking around, and the mangaka is around the corner as bait.

Chiaki Nanami: Quietly approached you when no one was with you. I hugged you. Not afraid for you. You're alive and the guys will take care of your killer.

Mahiru Koizumi: "It's so mean, you're acting like a man," Mahiru, who has turned pale, mumbles under her breath. Very worried. He staggers from the killer and won't let you in.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu: "Hah, you managed to escape and betray the killer," that's all the yakuza said. Who knows what he meant. It would be better if she died and he was executed, or did he praise you like that?

Ibuki Mioda: Shock. For a while I thought you were a zombie. During this time, I came up with a new song, which I sang to you after your amendment.

Nekomaru Nidai: At that moment I was in the toilet. When he came out, it was already difficult to tear one person away from the killer. Together with Soda, they tied him up and threw him to Komaede.

I did not expect to write so much, I’m so sorry. If there are grammar mistakes or misspells there are not anymore because I’m not rereading this thing lol. Feel free to just skip to your favorite character but thank you if you read all of it anyway! Would love to hear your own takes!

Koizumi- lucky: I feel that she is more like Naegi rather than Komaeda when it comes to her luck-- as in, she’s not really aware of it, or believes in it. It’s less straight forward with her. She insists that the only reason she gets the good things she gets is because of hard work and dedication, but behind the scenes in a convoluted way-- her luck works.

For example, she’ll work hard to study on a test but forget to study one of the subjects. Her luck causes the teacher to accidentally forget to print the pages of the test about that sub-subject because of something that without the whole context doesn’t seem like a coincidence, and then Koizumi will have time to study the subject she forgot, and get a good grade.

Not a lot for me to say about her design. I gave her a kind of rich-looking school uniform. She says she’s wealthy because of her parents working hard, but the truth is that her father is a slob and had gotten a great promotion following events caused indirectly by her birth. Her birth also inspired her mother in her photography career which helped her with her publicity and gaining more money.

Koizumi doesn’t like the fact that people call her lucky, as she believes people need to work hard and she does really try her best. She came to Hope’s Peak to prove that it is not luck, but dedication that boosts one’s career.

Souda- musician: I think his upbringing would be similar to his canon one, specifically about not being respected in school and his parents’ shop not doing well, leading to money problems. His father is the owner of a shop that sells old electronics, and there Souda finds a cassette tape and records his first songs, fueled by his frustration from school, with a beautiful voice (I know I’m sorry it doesn’t sound right to give him a nice voice but it had to be done).

At the start he sings about heartache and romance and that stuff, but doesn’t tell anyone about it. One day his cassette is stolen and he gets laughed at his corny lyrics by his schoolmates. The embarrassment and even more bullying causes him to change his look to fit in and he stops writing songs, instead he makes mindless mediocre dubstep music. He still hides his earlier songs from his friends at Hope’s Peak and claims it’s the later songs that are the reason he was invited as an ultimate, even though it was his original written on a guitar songs that got him there. Most of his new classmates aren’t really fans of his later works, although they sill act polite. He’s not really a fan either though.

The mp3 device clipped to his belt is a mirror of that screw he has canonically... Not sure why I gave him half green hair. It just felt right.

Mioda- princess: If I need to go into geography my head will explode, unfortunately. Would it have been smarter to think of that before designing? Yes. But I’m not smart, so.

Most of the time she’s a slightly milder version of her canon self-- maybe without the talking of herself in the third person thing, though-- but when she needs to get professional she knows how to put on a calm smile and how to be quiet and obedient (reference to how she acts with the effects of the Despair Disease).

Out of everyone in her family, Mioda is the kindest one. Unlike her parents, she is beloved by all, as she tends to sneak out of the castle and go to the poorer parts of the kingdom to help her people. She likes to be entertained and is known for paying well to street entertainers and musicians, sometimes joining the fun. Her singing’s horrible but everyone has fun when she is around. She might not be the expected image of a princess, but her kindness is what got her to Hope’s Peak.

I kinda fused Sonia’s braids with Mioda’s cone things, and got rid of the colored stripes in her hair (rip), maybe that’s why I gave Souda extra.

Saionji- reserve course student: Since her grandmother had used to attend Hope’s Peak, and Saionji’s family from her mother’s side had all turned out successful, she had a lot of pressure put on her to become talented or at least highly outstanding like them. Her father is the only one who didn’t care how she turned out, and loved her regardless.

Because her family made her work extra hard, Saionji didn’t have time for friends and was bullied heavily. Because she failed to get a talent, she only had her dad to rely on. Her sour life effected her mood and the way she treated others. Because her family is wealthy, they had gotten her into the reserve course department at Hope’s Peak.

I don’t really know about the whole Kamukura thing. That’s up to you if she agrees to go with the Hope Cultivation Project. Maybe Saionji!Kamukura would be pleasant.

I lowered her pigtails to make her look tamer, and implemented the bows of her kimono onto her new design as well. I thought having an orange school uniform would be fun, especially with the green. I also gave her an ahoge of course.

Tanaka- impostor: As a kid, he liked to people-watch, but not to interact. He’s mostly ignored by his peers, which made him feel less human. The only times kids would interact with him would be to be mean, and the odd attention would encourage Tanaka to angrily stalk them for a little while, learning their traits and how they act. He would notice little things about people and liked to pay close attention to them (since it would make sense that he would be less of an animal guy than canon, and being an impostor would be a very human-heavy job, I think he would have some odd connection to human individuality, although not his self’s).

I think it would make most sense that his mother’s death would be what caused him to start to impersonate others, as she’s the only one by his side, even if it makes me sad... All alone, Tanaka decides to stop being himself so he can get close to the humans he finds so interesting.

He would probably be a slightly less friendly/more awkward version of whoever he is acting as. I know I could have had him impersonate anyone but I’m too lazy to think of anyone else and I thought that making him dress as Togami would be funny. Like every version of the impostor has to be Togami at some point.

As Togami, he fits into the arrogant personality well, although he’s more obnoxious and focuses more about the “I’m better than you” than the “you are worse than me” parts of him but is still more pleasant that the real one. He is not obsessed with the occult or at least doesn’t outwardly show interest in it, but he still has delusions about ruling the world-- probably with the power of blind confidence and money, this time around.

Loud, but very mysterious. If he was in the game the player would be like “Where did Byakuya get that scar from? Did he lose his mind?” But, nope. It’s just Tanaka. I think he’d still refer to himself as a boy, but he has no trouble acting as a girl, when need-be.

Kuzuryuu- breeder and Pekoyama- cook: Kuzuryuu’s family lived pretty out of the way, near a forest in a large mansion. While his parents were either too busy fighting or were focusing on his little sister and her promising grades, Kuzuryuu would venture out into the forest and befriend the animals. Even with his small physique, he wasn't ever scared of the bears or any dangerous animals. He didn’t want to seem threatening to the animals so he would wear soft clothing, even though it didn’t really change anything, and just made his crass personality all the more of a surprise to strangers. Though it’s not as bad as early canon Kuzuryuu.

One day he met an abandoned girl in the forest and his parents took her in and let her be the family’s cook. She was more of a servant than a third child, and was never legally adopted, but Kuzuryuu and his sister had tried to treat her like a friend to their best of their usually-rude abilities, although it was hard for her to accept. By working for the family, Pekoyama became the ultimate cook.

When Kuzuryuu became slightly older and was allowed to leave the house, he would dedicate his time to breeding animals and saving species in the brink of extinction. He often brought Pekoyama with him, as he liked her, but she thought she was only brought to make him food while he was busy. She can make all kinds of food but focuses more on vegetarian options as the first time Kuzuryuu had walked into the kitchen while she was there with raw meat on the counter he couldn’t stop crying. She still cooked meat from time to time for his parents, but she wants to show the world you don’t need any to make a great meal.

I could have made Pekoyama a more specific kind of cook, but again-- I’m too lazy to think about that. I wanted to giver her a different type of outfit, and found this one with like a half overall-thing clipped onto it? Probably should have searched Japanese outfits but oh well. Her braids are now braided against her head, referencing Hanamura’s braided side. I made sure to give her like a little bow thing around her neck. That’s a chef thing, right?

The cow on Kuzuryuu’s sweater is referencing the animal skull he has on his tie in the game. He has a scarf, like how Tanaka has, since I thought it wouldn’t make sense to give it to the Ultimate Impostor. But instead of mysterious, Kuzuryuu’s scarf is soft looking and has stripes like his original suit. I HAD to give him an animal sidekick so I gave him a skunk. I thought it would fit his original color scheme and the cute looking but potentially dangerous vibe would fit him. Also I made the little shaved parts on the sides of his head in the shape of claw marks.

Owari- traditional dancer: It was too late when I though of the idea of making her not Japanese (well it wasn’t really, but-- AGAIN: I’m lazy). I feel that her backstory would be similar to the original. A customer at a workplace she worked at offered her the job, and although Owari is not into feminine things, she decided to accept because the pay was good and she wanted to provide for her siblings.

She had gotten good reflexes and flexibility by evading harm in the dangerous area she had lived in, which helped her become a great dancer.

I made sure to give her her ahoge but tried making her hair more... in order? She doesn’t bother wearing her kimono tightly.

Nanami- gymnast: Since she’s like an AI and all she canonically doesn’t have a human backstory, but I guess I’ll do my best. She probably got into gymnastics from finding interest in it, maybe she liked the aesthetic. She’s flexible and prefers doing more of the exercises that use objects, like ribbons and balls. She enjoys the art of it more than the physical labor, but she’s still good at it. Even then, I think that for herself, Nanami prefers comfort over looks, so outside of shows, she wears more causal clothing.

I��m not sure if she would be the “traitor” in this au, since it would make most sense it’s the Ultimate Gamer.

Hinata- gamer: He’s sloppier than most people, and is physically unhealthy and less hygienic. But his kind nature and devotion to common sense is enough to stop others from looking down upon him. Because he looks at screens too often, his eyes are eternally tired and red rimmed, making him look very uncaring and cold (reference to Kamukura) but it’s only when he’s deep into gaming that he acts like that to the outside world as well. It’s best to not bother him while he’s in the middle of a game.

He often forgets about his own health and the need to actually interact with other people, so when he does hang out with the others in big social events, he gets a little overwhelmed and just awkwardly stands to the side.

What happens when you take one of the tamest designs in the games and gives him an ultimate that is usually assigned to people who have no fashion sense? Nothing! Nothing happens! The best I could do was put the logo of his previous school on his sweatshirt.

Is he the “traitor” in this universe? I kind of like that idea actually, because I really like the idea of gamer!Hinata and isn’t putting a character you really like as the traitor just what everyone needs in their life? I’m attached to him, now. And so I must suffer.

Hanamura- mechanic: He helps at his mother’s auto repair shop, as the constant smell of cars and strange angles she needs to work in is not very good for her already fragile health. In his free time, Hanamura used to make little gadgets that would make her day to day life easier. Despite all this, to others, he claims he works to help big companies design new cars and fixes rich people’s limousines (are there like a mechanic hierarchy? I don’t fucking know).

I have no idea how to give a mechanic a well groomed look, so I didn’t do that. Maybe it all transports into his personality, and he’s a gentleman in this one, instead of a pervert. We can only hope.

I kept his three stars to his design, and gave him a black shirt to wear under his button up kind of like his canon pants (I’m a genius).

Sonia- swordswoman: I don’t really know what to say about her... is she a foreigner? Maybe. Is she working as a bodyguard to the Ultimate Yakuza? I personally don’t think she does. She’s a well mannered girl but has more of a personality than early Pekoyama. She expresses interest in dark themes in this au as well, but maybe something different than the occult. Like torture methods or gruesome fighting styles. Maybe ninjas, because they’re Japanese and use swords? that would make sense.

I wanted to put the sword in a different part of her body, rather than her back. I gave her a braid, like Pekoyama, but put it on the side because Sonia’s hair prefers her right side for some reason.

(Impostor)- team manager: What I got from Nidai’s... being, is that team manager translates to coach? (I’m just going to call them Impostor, here, but they would probably have an actual name.)

Impostor lived with mostly absent parents and no friends. They unashamedly took comfort in food for their loneliness. Because they were very public with their poor eating habits, people had starting accusing them of encouraging others to live an unhealthy lifestyle. While this didn’t bother them at the start, it got to the point of being irritating eventually, and because of Impostor’s natural instinct to be forward, they wanted to prove them wrong.

So they signed up to work as a coach at a children’s football practice, to promote sportive activity, and found that they enjoy being a supporting leader that people looked up to. So much so that they decided to become a coach. Eventually, Impostor started coaching important teams and people stopped bothering them about their weight.

I thought giving them a track-suit would be cute, especially since in the game they wear Togami’s very fancy outfit all the time.

Nidai- yakuza: Heir to the Nidai clan, he is well respected from the members all around. The ones who aren’t close to him admire his scary stature and his great ability to give out orders and be assertive, and the ones close to him like him for his understanding personality and loyalty.

Then he should be the perfect heir, right? Problem is that he has a heart defect and will most likely pass very young. For the early part of his life, Nidai had to stay indoors being treated, and was pitied by many. Since then he decided to not let that get him down, and by acting brash he managed to get the support of others, which is what mattered most to him.

Of course I’d get the big intimidating dude to be the Ultimate Yakuza... kind of reminds me of Kuzuryuu’s earlier beta designs. And no I didn’t make him Jewish, that necklace pendant is a reference to the design he has on his canon jacket. I gave him a small handkerchief poking out of his suit’s pocket to symbolize canon Nidai’s... thing that’s sticking out of his pants.

Komaeda- nurse: Since it was probably because of canon Komaeda’s luck that he was born to a rich family, I’m gonna decide that this version of him was born to a more average family. Because of his poor health, he decided to get into nursing so his family wouldn’t need to pay too much bills if he could do some of the work himself. He mostly only treated himself at home, but with his dwindling health he had to teach himself more and more.

The more time passed, the worse he got, and the more he knew for certain that there would be a chance that he passed young. This is what fueled him into working hard as a nurse and eventually getting him the title of an ultimate. This also what caused him to latch so desperately onto the concept of hope. Hope is what kept him going even when he got worse. For the sake of not killing off Komaeda from this universe, let’s say his abilities as Ultimate Nurse is what helped him eventually achieve redemption on his health and let him live comfortably.

Mixing canon Komaeda’s crappy luck at times and canon Tsumiki’s clumsiness, we can probably expect this Komaeda to also be a klutz. That is why a part of his doctor coat is ripped. It’s also a reference to his canon weirdly fucking cut jacket. I gave him hair clips since hygiene is probably more important to this Komaeda than canon-- one of them shaped as a medical plus sign. I also turned his shirt’s design into more of a plus sign. I gave him a blood pressure pump and mask as well.

Tsumiki- photographer: As a result of her abusive living space, Tsumiki would escape from home and hide in the nearby nature often. She lived in a small town on a hill with a wonderful view. She would escape and watch the sunset/sunrise and the animals in the distance and that helped her relax. Eventually, she decided she wanted to capture that beauty and managed to get herself a camera.

After showing her parents some of the pictures, they used her to get money and that is how she started her career as photographer. She was requested to photograph many places due to her natural talent, but her favorite would be in great fields, focusing on wild animals. She decided to focus on capturing wildlife, since she found comfort in staying as still as can be and blending into the background, away from other humans. Since her parents only cared about the money, Tsumiki would photograph often and the great amount of experience is what helped her achieve title of Ultimate Photographer.

It feels a little wrong to not dress her up in pink, but it’s not a color that appears a lot in nature. She’s not as clumsy as canon Tsumiki, but hiding in bushes and such induces the amount of scratches she has. She’s also usually dirty from laying hours on the ground, which does not help her get along with her peers. I thought giving her shorter hair would be more practical.

onk mini-rambling

tl;dr i feel going against the current a bit as a die-hard ishimiko shipper, but I love Aquakane a whole lot ahahahah

heavy spoilers under the cut

Apparently this is an unusual take, but I'm not really convinced Aquakana is that similar to Ishimiko. The power balance is off and Kana in general reminds me more of how Maki behaves, with some shades of being too "bright" and removed from Aqua's real worries and business. She is still a complex character with good motivations, but the stakes she operates on are too different from what Aqua's revenge plot hinges on.

I've been fighting this feeling that Aquakane was more similar to Ishimiko since chapter 26.

Most people seemed to think otherwise, so I considered I was just seeing things and tried being more into Aquakana once, but I realized it required downplaying what really was going on with Akane too much. And the more I really tried to read Akane with unbiased eyes, the more I came to love her. There is something fundamentally missing for me to think the time Aqua and Kana spent apart is setup for a stronger SINCERE development now, and his protectiveness and admiration of her seem too rooted in the idea of salvation/redemption for Ai, which is platonic. Most of the time, the protectiveness he displays of her is too similar to Ruby for me to think it's romantic or concealing some deep forbidden attraction.

Overall, I think Kana is cute but I can't feel much for the ship. Her chemistry with Akane is really good too, I'm hoping the anime gets a second season for the Tokyo Blade arc because it's amazing.

Kana does bring light to Aqua's life. I can see it, but that reminds me more of Tsubame's role than Miko's..."The Sun".

She helps Aqua get in touch with acting again, he supports her and plays around with her, but at the end of the day, that always seems distant and only a symptom of Aqua's true struggles. He can be happy besides Kana, but it somewhat only happens at the cost of shutting down what is actually eating him alive, and what could have been if his life hadn't been such a mess of tragedies.

And Kana, despite learning the truth, doesn't seem to be able to grasp how deeply that actually affected Aqua, and how badly he is screaming for help. That he wants to be saved. She knows he is more hurt than what he says, but has no idea how it's dragging his whole life down a rabbit hole he can't crawl out of.

On the other hand, Akane sits besides Aqua in the darkness, and offers him some comfort to rely on, so he can at his own pace dig deeper inside himself to drag out his ghosts and finally heal his wounds.

Not only that, she has a path she'd like him to take, but she's letting it be of his own choosing. She'll stop him no matter the cost, but she's also teaching him the hard way to take the hard route of choosing his happiness for himself and to admit he doesn't truly want to toss his life aside for revenge.

The plot isn't all that similar. Neither are the stakes. But the deeper reasons that make me appreciate Ishimiko feel more similar to what I can see here.

This might get people miffed with me (onk fandom can get a little scary with waifu wars), but I see far more in common with Aqua and Akane's relationship. Through their "fake dating trope" relationship, they ended up opening to eachother and blurring the line of "I can't feel something for you" too much, and as of recent chapters are developing something closer to a rivalry and spite born out of love that is....*chef's kiss* more what I'm into? NEURON ACTIVATION IN MY MONKEY BRAIN.

Constantly wondering what is a lie, what is Aqua concealing his feelings and having his expressions hidden is delicious. In a way, both of them fell for the mask ("the savior" and "the perfect imitation of Ai") but stayed for what was underneath (a wounded lonely person and someone who wants to be by their side).

Because Aqua, despite being shrouded in lies and using "It's a business relationship, a game" like a shield, truly felt like he tasted happiness and comfort. He felt understood and like he had an ally for the first time in ever, but he did not want to drag her down with him, despite saying he "just wants to use her". And he's willing to protect her by becoming hateful.

And this was the point of no return for me.

Aqua is still Goro, and no matter how much he tells himself it doesn't matter that he was dead like a nobody and that he couldn't connect to anyone after Sarina's passing...

Isn't that awfully lonely?

And yet, Akane was able to find him. She's seen his literal worst, most rotten self, and she was still by his side and grateful to him.

Does it matter how it started, then? Despite Aqua using her as a tool, she's aware of the best and worst parts of his personality. She knows how much his kindness is a heavy burden, and how it drives him to his most reckless self. Akane feels for him, but loves him for all he's done for her. Aqua doesn't allow himself to enjoy life or live for himself, but he has been able to put his objectives aside simply because he thought Akane needed help.

"When you fall down the stairs, I'll be there to catch you"....ahahaha

god help me, if this ship is going down, I'll sink with it
