God the new ultimate guide sucks
It's not JUST the awful art, either. The art's just worth mentioning because even if the book's info had been terrible or contained nothing new, really cute art can make it still worth having.
But, no, it's even full of recycled lines we've been hearing for years like "Bramblestar Can Match Squirrelflight's Fire Not Contain It," and that's when it DOES get everything right. These entries leave out major, important details (making them bad summaries) and are sometimes even straight-up incorrect.
SUMMARY THOUGHTS
Leafpool is said to have watched Brambleclaw kill Hawkfrost to save Firestar-- but for one, no, she was not there because Ashfur was still leading her and Squilf towards the scene. For two, no, Brambleclaw did not kill Hawkfrost just to save Firestar, it was self-defense. Hawkfrost had him pinned and was going to kill him.
They're REAL cute about Leafpool's death, too, neglecting to mention WHY the Sisters needed to be saved at all and just saying Leafpool's "generosity" lead to her death in that cave-in.
I'm not even going to get into everything on Bramble's entry jesus christ.
Sagewhisker's entry is ESPECIALLY fucken' dandy, framing Yellowfang's Secret like she was simply waiting patiently for Yellow to realize her 'destiny' and not actively shoving it on her at every opportunity.
Leopardstar's entry states that romantic interest in Tigerstar was part of her motivation. "Perhaps she'd hoped he would be her mate" please speak to a woman irl for once in your life.
Gray Wing's entry forgot that the reason he "blamed himself" for Bright Stream's death is because he was literally staring at his big strong brother too much and tripped on a root in front of him. It IS his fault she died.
Clear Sky/Skystar's entry is just obscene. "He regretted abandoning his son and after a fire, he encouraged him to live with him" instead of "saw his teenage child was useful now and bullied and belittled the kid and his uncle into letting Thunder come with him." "Retaining his fierceness towards his cats and outsiders which caused his son to leave" instead of "murdering, brutalizing, and abusing everyone around him caused Thunder to leave." I'll just say this tho; "Fierce" is an interesting way to spell "Cruel."
It's interesting that they don't point out that a major part of Jagged Peak's arc was proving he was "Just As Good" as every other cat in spite of his disability, thanks to his introduced-and-pregnant-in-the-same-book wife becoming his life coach, only earning Clear Sky's respect after being allowed to physically lead a patrol in Blazing Star. Instead they frame him finding his place through taking care of kits, which... was something he seemed to resent in the actual series, considering how the books suddenly treat Gray Wing's protective treatment of him as a terrible thing in Blazing Star because he "didn't give him a chance". But at the same time I actually strongly dislike Jagged Peak and his messy, frustrating character arc so I'm not really UPSET with it. Just... noting it. I suppose this is the official direction they're taking away from it?
Shadowstar's entry is barely even 3 paragraphs yikes.
SHORT STORY THOUGHTS
And if you're wondering if the 4 brand new stories they smooshed into the end in a desperate attempt to make the rush job worth buying are good? No. Of course not. They're all slop.
Story 1: Firestar and Graystripe
First one's a marginally cute story about Graystripe and Firestar which is setting up the framing device linking the mini-tales together. They both remember this situation where Firestar fell into a ditch wrong. The punchline is that Thunderstar remembers it perfectly and they're both like, "WOW! Too bad Thunderstar's memory sucks!"
It's not terrible, but it does feel a bit pointless. But, hey, if you want more Firestar and Graystripe in the series that tosses them fanservice at every turn, who am I to judge?
Story 2: Dovewing and Ivypool
The next one is the Dovewing/Ivypool reconciliation passage everyone's talking about. It's... fine, but immensely dissatisfying to me.
Dovewing is apparently having problems adjusting to her Clan, grapples a little bit with the fact she has no friends but is going to be finding meaning in helping tigerHeartstar "bring the new ShadowClan into existence." She ultimately decides that she needs to talk to her sister, and begs for reassurance that Ivypool believes in her, feeling that her support can help her get through this difficult time in her life.
I think its biggest problem is that Dovewing was not the right choice for the POV here.
Dove was never the one responsible for the rift in their relationship. Ivypool is. Ivypool is the one who was jealous, willing to sabotage anything that would put Dovewing closer to Tigerheart, and continues to be generally aggressive towards her. So when Dovewing is reaching out to Ivypool in hopes of them reconciling, it feels wrong because Ivypool is the one that should be reaching out to Dovewing. SHE is the one who has some things to apologize for, and to show how much she loves and misses her.
It's even kind of frustrating, because Dovewing can never catch a break. She has to have these problems to force her to reach out, Ivypool even ends up suggesting that she leave and come home and take her kids with her, but in the end even a LITTLE bit of assurance from her aggressive sister helps.
I feel super bad for Dovewing, man. She deserves better than this cheap writing. What was the point of such an unsatisfying, rushed reconciliation, shoved into a crummy field guide, when we KNOW from the newest book that they're just going to use tension between them as part of the drama anyway?
shouldn't have even been written, imo. Even ends off with, "They'll always have each other :)" which is so... cliche. It's TIRED. Are any of you really happy with just getting a retconned platitude in a good-for-nothing field guide, instead of seeing complicated, INTERESTING feelings in a main book?
Story 3: Alderheart and Twigbranch
A tale of Cherryfall getting sick during TBC and Alderheart sneaks back into the territory to treat her. Also Crowfeather has a scene where he yells at him. Charming.
Twigbranch comes up with a diversion while Alderheart does his work, which is cute. It's a fine story.
Story 4: Clear Sky
Trash. Three dogs spawn in the middle of a gathering so that Skystar can have an uwu big boy sendoff saving his grandkit. Then he goes to StarClan and throws a fit because they can't give him ANOTHER life, becoming so upset that he attacks the nearest woman. Naturally, Shadowstar brushes it off because it's not the first time Clear Sky has pummeled her in the midst of an adult tantrum and this book series thinks violence is fine if their favorite sadboy does it.
Then Gray Wing brings him to the magic mirror pool where you can see the living, to confirm that Star Flower is ok and that makes him feel better.
Then it launches into Firestar saying "ouuuugh yum I LOVE the taste of his butthole. Clear Sky is so misunderstood, He Just Loved Too Much."
to which Graystripe responds, "Yes, he was a good and amazing person and his farts smells SO good, and can you believe that some people think StarClan punished his Clan for his arrogance? As if he ever did anything wrong, ever?"
Firestar, indignant, refutes it with, "Ugh!! StarClan would NEVER be interesting, we don't punish living cats we just float around and make vague, frustrating prophecies that do nothing but pad the word count. Why cant ppl understand that, gosh."
who wrote this? Gray Wing??

Round 3 - Catholic Character Tournament
Tumblr media
firestar art by @kudossi
Propaganda below ⬇️
Firestar
NOTE: I have to note that Firestar is kitty Anglican NOT kitty Catholic
Kitty jesus, he believes in starclan which is the kitty version of heaven/god and yea. All the warrior cats characters except those outside the clans or those that are atheist believe in the kitty heaven and would irl be bri-ish and christian as hell so. The authors are all older british christian women and so the way starclan is written is like undoubtedly that.
The main religion in the series is extremely catholic coded. Most clan cats believe in Starclan and the Dark Forest(or heaven and hell). There is a set of rule they must uphold and follow, where following them leads to heaven and breaking them leads to hell. Their religious leaders are sworn to celibacy, and the punishments that "code breakers"(or cats who break the rules) face are extremely similar to situations people with religious trauma have gone through.
OP notes: apparently converted to avoid getting his balls cut?? Idk. The discord yet wild for firestar so I had to include him because it's hilarious hehehe
OP new notes: I have learned so much about warrior cats. Do yourself a favor and go down this tag and see the Firestar discourse.
Harrowhark
I'm pretty sure you've already got plenty of submissions for her so I'll just say she was raised in what is basically a cult (technically a nunnery but let's be real) dedicated to keeping the body of the thing that will kill God behind the rock. One of their prayers is actually "I pray the rock is never rolled away". Harrow is extremely devout as penance for her earlier heretical actions in the tomb as a child (spoiler!) so the Catholic guilt really comes through
imagine being a catholic nun and you meet god, but it turns out he’s a twitch streamer from new zealand who became god because everything got a little bit out of hand. and just before you met him you gave yourself a diy grief-fuelled lobotomy with the help of your best frenemy. imagine how insane you’d be. now multiply that insanity by nine. that’s the fictional love of my life right there.
she meets god. she’s not inspired
she’s number one practitioner of space Catholicism. The locked tomb is chock full of Christian (catholic) imagery themes metaphors etc. just look at her she’s got a bone rosary
They're Catholicism with extra bones. Everyone is a nun. They have what is basically a rosary made from knuckle bones. They technically worship the same God as everyone else, but they're waaaay more focused on The Body in the Tomb (Mary) and we get a moment where we find out that while everyone else prays the equivilent of The Lords Prayer, they're doing the equivilent of Hail Mary. And they paint their faces with skulls.
She thinks leaving dry bread in a drawer is taking care of someone. She's in love with a 10,000 year old corpse (the same one they worship). She spent ALL NIGHT digging with her bare hands to make sure a field had bones every 5 feet so she could fight her girlfriend - I mean, greatest enemy. Spoiler territory: She's been puppeting her parents corpses since she was 8 years old. Instead of grieving her dead girlfriend, she gives herself a lobotomy. She makes soup with bone in it so she can use the bone IN THEIR STOMACH to try and kill them.
The author is/was Catholic and the entire series had heavy Catholic overtones. https://www.tor.com/2020/08/19/gideon-the-ninth-young-pope-and-the-new-pope-are-building-a-queer-catholic-speculative-fiction-canon/ A good breakdown of how it's Catholic
Anti-propaganda (spoilers)
I love the Locked Tomb series but Harrowhark has daddy issues with God, had a childhood crush on God's cryogenic partner, and is in love with God's daughter, not to mention that she's essentially a bone-bender. The religion on her home planet exists in a way that is technically against the will of the canon in-universe God, even. All of this to say, Harrowhark is heretical at minimum if not an outright witch. Terrible Catholic. Burn her.

well! i wasnt expecting this-
I wrote a little snippit for this that I'll put it under the cut, I'm so upset over them you have no idea
despite the war between Lucentclan and Fernclan being over, Newtstar decides that he, Pepperflare, and Violethope will go patrol the borders one last time before the sun goes down. They don't realize the scent of rain or the clouds forming in the distance, as they're crossing the beach, rain begins falling heavily and weighing down their pelts.
"Newtstar!" Pepperflare calls over the now howling wind, anxiety pricking in her paws as the rain brings back unwanted memories of Sablepaw being washed away in a flood four moons ago. "We should really go back to camp! I don't have a good feeling about this."
Newtstars ears flick in acknowledgement, "we need to be sure that Fernclan isn't up to anything. I won't lose anymore cats to those fox-hearts!" He argues back, claws digging into the sand as he thinks of their previous medicine cat, Rippleclaw.
"No sane cat will be out in this weather!" Pepperflare insists, "Especially Fernclan cats! They hate water!"
"I agree with Pepp-" Violethope begins, her meow quickly cut off by a deafening crash and flash of lightning. In the distance, the sound of trees cracking and breaking echo down the mountains.
All three clancats freeze, heads snapping to the horizon where they see a massive wave of water quickly making its way down the hill, rocks, trees, and other natural debris coming along with it. The clancats barely have time to process what was happening before the water reaches them and sweeps them off their paws and into the unforgiving ocean. Their lungs fill with freezing saltwater as they cry out for starclan to save them to no avail.
Newtstar is the first to open his eyes, the yellow a sharp contrast to the darkness around him. Stars now shine in his pelt, and reflect in his eyes as he takes in the vaguely familiar area. He had been here when he lost his first life protecting his clan from a dog the same moon Rippleclaw had been found dead on Fernclans border. It had been nice to see the tom again to be assured that he wouldn't be alone, their starclan guide, and Newtstars own kin, Shardfoam being there to keep him company.
He sits and sighs, watching the water drip from is glimmering pelt and dissappear into the stars beneath his paws. He couldn't help but feel as if he had let his clan down.
Pepperflare and Violethope join him soon, appearing with splashes of salt water and gasping breaths that didn't take any oxygen. The she-cats meet eyes for a moment, confused as they look towards their leader.
They realize the stars at the same time, dismay filling them. Quietly, they step forward to sit beside their leader in quiet mourning.
"I'm sorry it had to be this way," A familiar voice says, a cream tabby tom stepping into sight. Sympathy reflecting in his grey eyes as he looks at the warriors. Beside the medicine cat is a younger spotted gray apprentice, Sablepaw, who is looking at them with the same sympathetic look.
"Rippleclaw! Sablepaw!" Newstar cries, standing. "Whats going on? We can't actually be dead, right? What about my other seven lives?" The words tumble out of his mouth before he can stop them, needing answers. Beside him, Pepperflare tries to speak but just hacks up a mouthful of water. Violethope remains quiet.
Rippleclaw sighs, "Unfortunately there was no way for starclan to bring your body back, it was washed too far out to sea for it to be possible." He steps to the side, the area behind him now streching out into a vast area, stars littering ground. This was starclans hunting grounds. The medicine cat dips his head, tears in his eyes as his friends try to process their deaths, "Welcome to starclan, my friends. Here you can watch over and guide Lucentclan."
Down below the sky, Quailcall sits outside the medicine den, blue eyes watching the entrance of the camp. It's been far too long since the patrol had left, and the elder was starting to get a bad feeling. He looks up at the dark clouds as it stormed and shakes out his pelt before standing and turning to enter the den.
Sparkfire lays in a nest against the far wall, curled up tightly as she sleeps through the infection in her wounds. The she-cat twitches and whimpers in her sleep, shifting slightly. The tom silently makes his way to sit beside the nest, watching the slow rise and fall of Sparkfires back, half expecting it to stop at any moment.
Quailcall looks towards the entrance of the den once more, dread filling his belly. "Starclan help us." He says quietly before curling up close to the deputy and shuts his eyes in an attempt to sleep until the patrol returns.
sorry for the short fic but i wanted to write for this moon soo bad and got carried away.
What will Sparkfire and Quailcall do now?

can you tell us more about what your doing with half moon, i think you mentioned one that she was doves wing and something about her being midnights vessel aswell? thought it was interesting
Tumblr media
[ID: The Better Bones version of Dove's Wing and Jay's Wing. They are solid-color cats with an inverted color scheme, Dove is pure white with a gray half-moon over her eye, and Jay is pure gray with a white half-moon over his other eye. They have matching heterochromia.]
The tragic heroes of Hollyleaf's Century! The 'time travel' story has been COMPLETELY overhauled, ripped up at the root and torn out. This time around, Dove's Wing and Half Moon are the same person, and the twin of Jay.
There are four seasonal gods, from a time even more ancient than the Lake Kinships. Their most popular names at this moment are Sol, One Eye, Midnight, and Rock. Holly Leaves is the vessel of Sol, and Half Moon strikes up a bond with Midnight to try and fight human destruction. This gives her some beefy powers over growth, creation, and healing, but it wasn't enough to combat Holly dragging the three Kinships down into pointless infighting.
And so, when the Lake is destroyed due to Holly Leaves' actions, Dove's Wing becomes the sole founder of the Tribe. Having lost everything, her family, her home, and her faith in the goodness of other people, she is forced to lead what's left of her people away from their ancient home. The name Half Moon is in honor of her murdered twin, her other half, gone forever.
When Holly Leaves tries to stop them from going, Dove has to defeat her in the final battle of HC.
She mercifully spares her, but not without giving her serious wounds.
The destruction of Sanctuary Lake is sometime in the late 1800s, near the end of the Victorian Era.
Stonetellers are getting a BIG buff to legitimize the Tribe's culture and put them on equal magical standing with Clan cats. They are completely immune to illness and live well into their late 20s.
Half Moon was the longest-lived Stoneteller by far, she lives for nearly 40 years.
Older than Creme Puff, the longest-lived real cat, who was 38.
So she was there in the 1800s to see the Lake wither, and also to send off the Sun Trail cats in the 1920s.
Of course, Half Moon is now the reincarnation of Dovewing!
In the reworked family tree, Dovewing is now the bio-daughter of Jayfeather and Poppyfrost, but adopted by Cinderheart and Lionblaze.
In their previous lives, Lionblaze was some kind of uncle or cousin, and Jay and Dove were twins.
Dove displays the same striking heterochromia in both the ancient incarnation and the modern one.
Note how Jay's Wing was lanky where Dove's Wing was chunky... much like her sisterhood with Ivypool.
Dove actually looks the most like her "old self" of the three reincarnated cats. Something about her super hearing and "echoes" through the years.

HM... Regarding Otterslip's eventual death.
Def don't think a Starclan cat kills him unless there's something in-game to indicate, just because I enjoy their immateriality. (If a Starclan cat WERE to kill them... I think they'd have be going rogue to do so, acting without the say of Starclan at large, and I want to imagine it'd be a contentious action were they discovered. I'm not certain they have any code themselves, but I reckon it might be taboo to effect the world so directly - and so violently, I imagine people are more keen to turn the other way when it's something like a reunion or leading a medicine cat to needed herbs.)
Eye think it might be fun if he goes in a way echoing one of his mothers... Smth smth about how it was how desperately he clung to Scorchstar's legacy as he remembered it, believing naively in her virtue until she told him outright he was wrong (maybe still believing it a little - old habits) and following in her pawsteps so directly when grief rose to overtake him that damned him, that lead him to send Stormsight off the cliff and onto the rocks below; that saw him exiled. Almost as if finishing the rhyme, a death at the jaws of a dog feels suiting! (Bet he could have a MAJOR fear of them after both his moms and one of his kittens died to them, also. Wonder if he has nightmares. Being thrown off a cliff into snapping, snarling jaws, maybe...) Whether he stumbled upon them and tried to run, maybe called for help, or tried to help some other cats, maybe even tried to lead dogs away from the territory (or away from the territory of wherever he ends up, should he ever let go, and find it within himself to go somewhere else with other cats...) and just couldn't make the leap up onto a tree...
Being carried away by an eagle charms me in the powerlessness of it, though. Also the being raised up, in opposition to Stormsight's hurtling fall downward... Less certain of this one.
(thinking sprite) Something like disease or hunger is probably more likely to get him overall, though, certainly if he's too stubborn to consider life as a kittypet. He might not even realize he's dead until someone finds his body.
Ultimately, though, Fallenclan probably won't know what got him unless it's obvious from the body (if they find a body) or one of them hunts him down! (Which is certainly a possibility! A VERY interesting one, too, might be my favourite tied with dogs...) I'm just not sure who exactly would have that much of a vendetta. [. Looks at my thoughts about Yewberry. Looks AWAY,]
This has gotten entirely TOO LONG! My apologies. Shaking him around in my teeth (fondly) (blorbo motion). Entirely possible to leave it up to speculation, in the end... Vague gesture!
(BONUS: If Otterslip is meeting with Brambletuft... Stars. I bet he's leveraging his sympathy to get some information on the clan itself. Rejected by his home, rejected by the stars... But still, like a wound he can't help scratching at, he wants to know what's going on.)
(- 🐈‍⬛)
OH FUCK IF YEWBERRY DID IT... the cat I had in mind actually WASNT him believe it or not but. if it comes to it. oughhhhh thats so. oughhhhh yewberry me boy I have so many thoughts about you

Okay, so this has been in my brain for a while, but.
I love when Lou Wilson and Zac Oyama are in the same actual play show, because their characters so often explore characters in opposite directions.
(Character discussion for main-cast seasons of Dimension 20 and The Ravening War below.)
Lou Wilson often plays characters that are obviously heroically tragic in some way. This is especially apparent in his main-cast seasons of Dimension 20. Fabian Seacaster, son of a banished pirate who can never live up to his father’s ideals and will always be in his shadow. Kingston Brown, healer who has given up everything to protect his city. Amethar, last surviving sibling of his family, trapped in political games that are over his head. Gunnie, a brilliant kid with a dream that came crashing down immediately. Pinocchio, a puppet who can never be good enough to be a real boy.
With these characters, tragedy is obvious and visible from the start. But from there, Lou tends to explore the comedic side of tragic heroism. Almost every one of them has moments where their vision of themselves and the world just does not line up with reality, and comedy ensues. The clearest example is Fabian in Leviathan. Big and boisterous and past thought and reason, Fabian’s grand charge with the warlocks is horrifying, and it’s hilarious. You get the same energy in Gunnie at the casino and Pinnochio talking to Cinderella. Moments that are funny because of their inherent tragedy.
On the other hand, Zac Oyama’s characters are often steeped in inherent comedy. Gorgug, too big for his parents tiny gnome house. Ricky Matsui, Mr. March, whose dark secret is that he wasn’t always a firefighter (because he was a child once.) Lapin Cadbury, crotchety old bunny. Cumulous Rocks, cottoncandy-man of death. Norman Takamori, mean, put-upon, and incompetent space captain. Skip, a slug. Pib, an asshole cat.
Zac’s characters rarely hold the same gravitas as Lou’s at first glance. But the things that make them funny are often revealed to be truly tragic as the story progresses and their depths are explored. I think Ricky’s arc in TUC 2 is the most obvious example of this. What happens when your character is seen as a joke, but you removed the punchline? Ricky wasn’t always a firefighter, and now he isn’t. He isn’t the questing hero. He isn’t anybody. And we get this beautiful three-dimensional exploration of meaning in a character who perhaps seemed flat at first glance. And almost all of Zac’s characters are more than they seem. Lapin. Norman. Skip. Pib.
And once again, in The Ravening War, there’s a mirror in Lou and Zac’s arcs, with Deli starting out heroic, ambitious, filled with purpose, only to be played for a fool (the comic tragedy of his last interaction with Gemelli) and slip into obscurity. Colin, on the other hand, begins in obscurity, a seemingly funny cheese man messing up the clan’s introduction and eating charcuterie with Cleva. By the end, he has the strongest moral dedication of the group, getting the final blow on their enemy and dedicating himself to ridding the world of an evil organization for the rest of his life.
I’m just so happy that the two of them are in the main cast of Dimension 20, that we get to see them play across from each other so often. They’re two of my favorite players, and I can’t wait to see whatever is next for both of them.

OC INTERVIEW
🟦🟪 David Lozano & Viggo Day
Tumblr media
▪ NICKNAME:
"Can call me V."
"What about that adorable nickname Heiress has for you?"
"Oh, yeah. Old lady I used to train with, she calls me Big Blue. What, you think that's cute?"
"I do, I love it! I'd call you that too but it feels like a special thing just for her. Like how your mom sometimes calls you--"
"Yeah, and this is Gogo, 'cause they never know when to fuckin' stop."
"That's me!"
▪ GENDER:
"Hell if I know! Just write down n/a. Or, no, write down "fun"! I'm not a boy or a girl, I'm fun."
"Could also write down "loud.""
"That too. And you're cis."
"Yeah. That's the one where you stuck with whatever they wrote on--yeah. Cis male."
▪ ORIENTATION:
"Oh, I like anyone who's got muscles and looks good doing manual labor. Like, all strong and sweaty. No, seriously! Not everyone looks good like that. Like, V does, but Sanctuary--our friend Sanctuary--wouldn't. They're hot too, though. Is it weird to say I'm attracted to anyone who looks like they can provide for me? Or like, kill someone for me. I wouldn't want them to, but... y'know."
"...Right. And I like men."
▪ NATIONALITY/ETHNICITY:
"Ah, shit, I always get confused by this."
"Nationality is your country, so we're both from the NUSA."
"Right, and ethnicity is like... your culture?"
"Yeah, without getting too complicated. So you're Mexican."
"Little bit of Italian, too. Had a Nonna when I was a kid. Been dead a long time, though."
"You're depressing them!"
"You're about to make it worse. Go on, kid, tell us about your family."
"They don't need to know the sordid details. My dad was Chinese, but my mom's family and the clan raised me, so I'm closer to Mexican. See? Not depressing at all!"
▪ HEIGHT:
"My heels are deceiving you, I'm only five-two."
"Five-ten."
"Ooh, so close to six."
"And you're nowhere near it."
▪ STAR SIGN:
"Misty keeps tellin' me and I forget every time."
"You're a Capricorn, and I'm an Aries. You know both our symbols have horns? Oh, new tattoo idea!"
"I'm down."
▪ FAVE FRUIT:
"Have you ever even eaten a fruit? Like a real one?"
"Kerry gave me a mango, one time. It was okay. I like the fucked up little strawberries we have here more."
"Oh, I love those. Yeah, strawberries for both of us."
▪ FAVE SEASON:
"I love summer, but the heat makes me really sick if I'm not careful. So spring, I guess. Before the temps get too high."
"Winter, I think. Quieter in winter."
▪ FAVE FLOWER:
"Poppies! Look, I even have them tattooed. I adore poppies."
"Roses. No reason, I just think they're pretty, I guess."
"That's a reason!"
▪ FAVE SCENT:
"Hm. What's the scent you use, V?"
"Sandalwood. Dunno what that is, but it's what the lotion bottle says."
"Okay, then sandalwood."
"Really?"
"Well, I like a lot of smells, but you're what came to mind first."
"Man, now I don't wanna say mine. 'Cause it's not whatever you're wearing."
"You don't like my perfume?"
"It's not bad, it's just not my favorite. I like vanilla."
"Ooh, vanilla is good. Especially when it's all warm."
▪ COFFEE, TEA, HOT CHOCOLATE:
"This one roasts me all the time 'cause I like brown sugar in my coffee. Like they don't put syrup in theirs."
"Okay, I do not roast you. I just have to point out that it's weird. Every time."
"See?"
▪ AVERAGE HOURS OF SLEEP:
"Oh, I sleep like a rock. Usually at least 6 hours, but I'll nap during the day, too. Especially when it's hot out."
"Not many."
▪ DOG OR CAT PERSON:
"Cats. Glad they're starting to make a comeback."
"Me too. Some areas that my clan would camp in had a feral dog problem, so I've never liked them. I haven't met many cats, but they've all been chill."
▪ DREAM TRIP:
"I'd love to visit somewhere tropical. Someplace with a clean beach and nice water. Or somewhere snowy. Doesn't Japan have both?"
"Fuck if I know. I'm not really into traveling these days. Seen enough of this planet."
▪ NUMBER OF BLANKETS THEY SLEEP WITH:
"Oh, this is a funny story. V and I used to live together in this horrible little one-room apartment, and I had to get rid of my mattress because something chewed a hole in it, so V let me share his bed until I could get a new one."
"Couldn't let you sleep on the floor. Would've been eaten alive by the roaches."
"It was still really sweet of you. Anyway, I guess he got used to having me there, and after I got a new mattress and went back to my bed, he kept getting more pillows until there was a human sized pile under the blanket."
"How do you know it was 'cause of you? Maybe I just like havin' a lot of pillows to choose from."
"Okay, okay. Sure. If that helps you sleep at night."
"Nah, my sixteen pillows help me sleep at night."
"Wait, shit, they were asking about blankets, weren't they?"
▪ RANDOM FACT:
"You say one about me, and I'll say one about you."
"Hm. Gogo has a degree in mechanical engineering. Or most of one, right?"
"Well, we don't really have degrees, but I was working on my specialization when Augie got registered and we went static to take care of him. So, yeah, close to a degree. I would've had a special patch on my jacket and eventually been part of the logistics team."
"You ever regret not finishing?"
"No, Augie's more important."
"Yeah. I get that."
"Now, a random fact I know about V, is his favorite meal ever is fried polenta and spicy sausage."
"Yep. I'll never turn that shit down."
"And I like it 'cause it reminds me of cooking in camp with my clan. It's good stuff."
"Yeah."

“Now that we’re done with announcements … are there any discussions to be had? War negotiations, maybe?”
Hornetstar wilts under Crocusstar’s pointed gaze. MoonClan isn’t their enemy, but she can’t risk changing that by angering him. What have you gotten us into, Lotus? she thinks, and sighs. Gathering her wits, she looks to Whimsystar and says, “Right. Whimsystar … this can’t go on. Blood has been spilled needlessly, and I’m not willing to risk my warriors’ lives over a petty argument."
Whimsystar looks down at her with a look of pity that makes Hornetstar’s hackles threaten to raise. Careful, careful—this could break bad.
“I have to admit, it almost feels wrong to go to war with such a small clan,” Whimsystar says, breaking Hornetstar out of her thoughts—and provoking a growl from below.
“What did you just say?” Lotus says, lashing his tail. He takes a step toward the Howling Rock as if to scale it, but he's stopped by a booming voice.
“Enough!” Stonestar cries, digging her claws into the soft moss beneath her paws. “This gathering was meant to bring peace, Lotus, not make matters worse. And Whimsystar-” she turns to her with a stern look- “for the love of StarClan, try not to agitate them more.”
Whimsystar rolls her eyes, but still, she says, “Sorry, Hornetstar. Sorry, Lotus.”
“You're forgiven,” Hornetstar says quickly, not risking giving Lotus a chance to reject the apology. “Really though, Whimsystar, I just … this was a stupid mistake by someone who doesn't know what she's doing in the slightest. And I…” To her horror, Hornetstar finds her voice cracking. Oh, StarClan, no, not in front of all these cats … Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Whimsystar cock her head, and she looks back up, though she can't bring herself to make eye contact.
“Well, I don't see any point in drawing it out any longer,” Whimsystar says, sparing her from embarrassment, and Hornetstar breathes a sigh of relief. Turning to the crowd, Whimsystar calls, “The war between SerpentClan and GhostClan is over!”
As cheers rise up from the other cats, Hornetstar says, “Great! Uh, I mean, thank you. No, that's not…”
To her surprise, Whimsystar actually laughs a little at that. “I can't say it's not self-serving. Your deputy there’s done a number on some of our cats.”
Stonestar gives her a warning look. “Whimsystar …”
“Hey now, it's a compliment.”
Hornetstar glances down at Lotus. Moonlight still glints on his claws, and she shudders—but for now, he's calmed down. Small miracles. “Alright. Then, that's … is that all?”
Crocusstar nods. “It should be. I don't have any more to say, at least.”
“Well then, I guess we should all say our goodbyes and go. Right?” She glances at Stonestar, who nods.
With a soft thud, Hornetstar hops down from the boulder and pads over to where Lotus and Marshpaw are sitting. “I think that went well,” she says with a hesitant little smile.
Marshpaw breathes a sigh of relief. “Thank StarClan that's over,” she says. “Even with just you two and Fauna, it was a lot of work.”
Hornetstar touches her nose to the top of Marshpaw’s head, and the latter purrs and bunts against her jaw. “No kidding,” she sighs. “Speaking of …”
“I'm here!” Fauna comes trotting up to them, his tail held up in greeting. “I was just getting to know some of the other cats. Did you know MoonClan cats smell like fish?”
“Fauna! Be nice!” Marshpaw shushes him with a flick of her tail, though she's still visibly holding back a laugh.
Hornetstar smiles a little, but the happiness fades from her face when she turns back to Lotus. Without a word, he'd started off back to camp without them, and rather than being irritated by the rudeness, she finds herself relieved that she doesn't have her back to him.

Moon 1 - Newleaf
The First Gathering
Tumblr media
Just follow the border this way, and you’ll find a twoleg structure. Bonestar’s words rang in Windstar’s head.
His border patrol had come across the lone SpikeClan leader earlier in the moon. She was friendly, and even said that StarClan sent an omen to be kind to their new neighbors.
Now on the way to the gathering, he and his cats had walked on what seemed to be a tiny thunderpath. Up ahead was a twoleg den without a roof. A stream flowed around it, and curved rocks laid scattered through the island.
“We’re sure this isn’t a trap?” Nightsplash whispered to Windstar.
He pricked his ears. There was the chatter of cats inside. “If it was, they’d be more quiet.”
“StarClan had also confirmed the older clans meant no harm to us,” Swanstreak said. He had visited the Moon Falls after Windstar reported his patrol.
“Windstar! There you are!” A black tabby rushed out from the entrance. She was only slightly bigger than Beaverpaw, but scars littered her pelt. This was the leader of SpikeClan.
“Greetings,” A white and silver cat followed. “You’ve already met Bonestar; I’m Halfstar, leader of NutClan.”
“Nice to meet you,” The dark blue tabby dipped his head. “Thank you for inviting us.”
“No thanks necessary. Although StarClan assured us about your presence, it’d be best to know our neighbors,” Halfstar meowed as she led his cats inside. “Welcome to the Four Walls.”
Inside, there was a sizeable number of cats– more than three times the size of ChimeClan. Their heads soon turned to the new group, exchanging looks of curiosity, wariness, or welcome.
Windstar turned his gaze elsewhere, observing the ruined twoleg structure. While it did indeed have four walls, the holes in them were tall and unnatural. Several long rocks were scattered through it, but the most notable was the pile in the middle. Bonestar called it the Echoing Stone.
“Is that actually a clan?” A white tom with purple eyes meowed. “They look like a bunch of rogues— one even looks like a kittypet!”
He was looking at Dancingtree, whose ears and legs were a dead giveaway. The former housecat tried his best to look small.
“Lavenderpatch!” Halfstar meowed sharply. “Do you not remember the omen our healer told us about!?”
“What if they’re the wrong cats?”
“Even I can see StarClan’s mark on the other’s forehead.” A senior… No, an elder sat on the Echoing Stone and stared at Windstar. “Introduce yourself, leader of...”
“ChimeClan,” He did as he was told, and looked to the other cats gathered. “I am Windstar of ChimeClan. We’ve journeyed from beyond and set up camp by the foot of the mountains. We hope you’re willing to let us stay and… later, negotiate borders.”
“Indeed, these are the right cats,” The cat on the Echoing Stone nodded. “I, Dappledstar, leader of BugClan, welcome you all, ChimeClan.”
“As does NutClan.”
“And SpikeClan.” Bonestar grinned. “Come and take your place, Windstar.”
As the leader hauled himself up, the foreign cats cheered their clan name. Streakswan carefully joined the other healers, and Nightsplash bounded up to the other deputies. She sheepishly turned back when she realized those were a group of BugClan warriors who simply sat nearby.
Tumblr media
“We are now complete,” Halfstar flicked her tail as the halfmoon’s light shone down upon them. She slammed a paw on the rock beneath them, which gave a resounding ring. “Let the gathering begin!”
As Bonestar had described, the leaders spoke in order of the clan’s age: NutClan, BugClan, SpikeClan, and lastly, ChimeClan. All had reported a prosperous first halfmoon of Newleaf; Windstar couldn’t help but think that truly, StarClan led them to the right place.
“Now, onto border discussions,” Halfstar meowed. “I’m sure you’ve explored the land nearby your camp, correct?”
“Until the thunderpath, and until we detected another clan’s borders.” Windstar nodded. “We’d like to have a side of the river near the foot of the mountain, and a patch of the forest for herbs.”
Dappledstar hummed as she gathered her thoughts. “No.”
Before Windstar could negotiate further, the strange cat stared at him.
“Our StarClan likes to sit there. You can have the side farther down. Close to here.”
“That’s… Reasonable,” Windstar tried to suppress the shiver he felt. “Thank you.”
“The forest is far from your camp, and NutClan has many mouths to feed.” Halfstar said. “Our land is not worth your time.”
“With all due respect, Halfstar,” Streakswan meowed from below. “Only certain herbs grow in the forest.”
“No, we still need our territory. The forest around the Four Walls is neutral ground,” She said firmly. “And you have the land across the thunderpath. Just take from them.”
Windstar turned to Bonestar, who shook her head.
“We don’t have any forest to offer because of…”
“Like I said,” Halfstar narrowed her eyes at the she-cat. “We need our territory.”
“Oh, yes yes,” Bonestar lashed her tail. “Say that one more time, would you?”
“Well–”
“I understand and agree with these arrangements,” Windstar interrupted before they could bicker further. “We, ChimeClan, are grateful for your kindness.”
The leaders nodded, and Halfstar slammed a paw on the Echoing Stone again.
“The Gathering is over.” She yowled. “You are free to mingle until your leader says so.”
She jumped down and led her clan back to camp.
“They’re all a bit stubborn,” Streakswan whispered to Windstar as he landed next to the healer.
“It wouldn’t be wise to press further,” He meowed. He turned to look at his other clanmates; at least they were having fun.
Nightsplah had thrown herself into a conversation with the other deputies, while a friendly BugClan cat had a chat with Dancingtree. Badgerpaw was engaging the other apprentices with a tale from the journey; from his movements, Windstar guessed it was about the wolves.
“Any plans for the rest of the moon?” Bonestar sat beside the leader.
Hunting, gathering… Not to mention, the caves and land across the thunderpath hadn’t been explored yet.
“I suppose we’ll settle in,” He simply meowed. “Simply get some rest. We’ve been searching for a new home for too long.”
“I understand,” She nodded. “Back then, SpikeClan had done the same, too. We’ve been here for… 600 moons, give or take.”
“Honestly,” She continued. “It’s interesting to see a new clan form. I feel like I’m watching the old tales unfold in my time instead. And for that, you have SpikeClan’s full support!”
“Thank you, Bonestar,” He dipped his head, but he didn’t take her words to heart. While her excitement was clear, her intentions weren’t. “Do you know anything about the other clans?”
“Oh, NutClan has been here forever. That’s why they hate every new clan,” She said with an annoyed flick of her tail. “They’re so… Traditional.”
“My, watch your tongue, young one,” Dappledstar meowed. Her deputy was helping her down. “When BugClan was formed, NutClan welcomed us with open paws. They had no interest in taking the plains, and they once aided us with various herbs. Stories say that during the war–”
“Oh, yes yes. How noble of NutClan,” The she-cat replied dryly. “Well. Look at the time. We should get going.”
BugClan’s deputy narrowed his eyes, but seeing his leader unphased, he chose to say nothing. Dappledstar agreed that they will be leaving, too.
“We’ll do the same then,” Windstar meowed. “See you at the next Gathering.”

Moon 56
This moons events:
Fallingghosts tail healed
Runningdapple is no longer in shock
Pearpaw no longer has a headache
Sunwhisker got shivering after falling out of a tree.
Now the actual finale:
Pearpaw walked along the cliffs, his mentor Weaselfur had trouble getting out of his nest these days, not that he blamed him, he was getting up in age and Pearpaw was sure he'd retire soon. Luckily Pearpaw was old enough to be out of camp on his own, he needed to practice for his warrior assesment , it could be any moment now. Pearpaw could hear some rumbling, like stone moving, he suddenly stopped and looked up, but he could only make out the shape of a tall cat up on the cliff.
Tumblr media
Before he could recognise the cat, Pearpaw realized that the cliff seemed to fall apart. A landslide! He tried to run from it but the rocks were faster, when he felt a sudden pain on his head, likely from a rock, the world went dark.
Tumblr media
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lizardpaw followed Ruepaw and Marigold to the border, he couldn't believe he was allowed on an important mission to featherclan! He would be exited if he weren't so tired and hungry, Pikeclan had not been doing well the last moons. Sunstar recently died, she had refused to eat so that the rest of the clan would have enough. No cat could take the deputy position, the only warrior in the clan, Russetpatch was grieving her mat Jaggedfur heavely, and the loner that joined needed to recover from birth. Lizardpaw snapped out of his toughts, they were at the border now, Ruepaw nervously looked at the scattered piles of rocks. "Landslide" she said, scanning the area. Lizardpaw smelled for scents, he piced up featherclan scent mixed with blood and- something familiar. "I think someone is in the rubble" he told Ruepaw.
After some digging, Ruepaw had found a young cat and helped them to their paws, "Let's take him to his camp", she said "It's closer than our camp and we need to be there anyway." Lizardpaw looked at the cat, probably about his age, but he felt something when looking at him.
Tumblr media
When arriving in the camp, Ruepaw helped the apprentice to the medicine cat, Pearpaw was his name, Lizardpaw had found out when another apprentice called out the name when they entered the camp. He followed Marigold to the leader, Wheatstar. "I need to talk to you" she said. Wheatstar looked at her, he seemed to recognise her. "You need to stop coming to our terretory" he said. Marigold sihted "I was on your terretory because I needed to talk to you, no one would listen to me, that's why I went to Pikeclan." Wheatstar looked at them, "Apoligies, tell me what you need to tell" he said. "Lizardpaw stopped listening, she looked at a tall, dark gray tom that walked across the clearing, a suprised look on his face, he came to sit pretty close to the leaders den. "I don't believe it" Wheatstar suddenly said pretty loudly, getting Lizardpaw's attention again.
Marigold wqs getting angry, but instead of letting it out on Wheatstar, she turned around and faced the gray tom. "You must be very manipulative if I can't convine Wheatstar you're up to no good!" she started, but she wasn't done just yet. "You've been stealing kits all over the place! You stole Night's kits because 'they were your's as well', you stole MY kits, you stole two of Nectarhowl and Slightpeaks kits. I had to get Poppy to join Pikeclan with me becaus YOU would have stolen them for sure." The clearing was silent, Lizardpaw tought about what Marigold just said. Two of his siblings were stolen by this cat! He realized why he felt so strange about Pearpaw, he was his brother!
Tumblr media
The gray tom, whose name was Chasing, Lizardpaw found out didn't respons, he stared at them for a while and the growled, turned around and he- ran away.
When everything had cooled down, Wheatsar allowed Lizardpaw to meet his brothers, Pearpaw and Kestrelpaw, he wished Flashpaw was her as well, she deserved to know her brothers as much as he did, but she was sick, and Lizardpaw couldn't afford to let her die the same way as Loudpaw, that whitecough better didn't become green. He felt uncomfertable when he had to tell them their parents died, Nectarhow and slightpeak l starved during the serveral preyless moons.
Marigold had walked up to a warrior of featherclan 'Goldenrod' she had called him, the warrior had to explain in confusion that his name was Whistlestream, not Goldenrod. The medicine cat jumped in, telling Marigold not to come to closen since Whistlestream had whitecough, Marigold had explained that he was her son, and asked where his brother was, Whistlesream explained that he died a moon ago, when the prey pile was poisoned, probably by Chasing.
Luckily that monster is out of the clans.

Personal Clan Culture
I see all these posts around giving the clans a culture and they usually work from the ground up. And while I won’t knock those methods,I decided to use a different approach by working from events of the modern books. So here we go, Regulus’ personal interpretation of a clan culture that would form after or during the current era of warriors.
General Lore:
In the wake of the modern warriors' history (TPOT to TBC), the clans’ culture begins to fully form and change in response to the disaster. As a general summary, the following occurs—
Windclan now has courtship rituals and a marriage system, Thunderclan forms a political council, Riverclan becomes a cultural hub of history and archival, Shadowclan forms an institution to protect their medicine cats and Skyclan has a professional role for scouting and tracking.
Windclan Dynasty (Courtship and Formal Marriage):
After the fiasco of major political and religious heads, Crowfeather and Onestar being revealed to have half-clan affairs, the cats of Windclan propose (heh) a suggestion to remedy this: Cats from a select few strong or good families will intermarry and are expected to act as shining examples of code loyalty, even being given the authority to report any relationship based code-breaking, regardless of the code breakers rank or status.
The courtship process is actually more complicated than one thinks. The pair must demonstrate skills in hunting, fighting, and the unique Windclan cultural traits of racing and fasting. Then, the two cats must find betrothal flowers and have those flowers approved by their prospective partner's families for their blessing. At least a 3rd of the family must agree. The eldest of the two families will make gifts for their newlyweds When that is done, the couple will sit a silent vigil together, watched carefully by their family members. once the night is over, they will be publicly declared mates, alongside their respective families being declared a Dynasty and then they can go about their lives.
So for example, Heathertail and Breezepelt want to become an official couple and form what is called a Dynasty together and must do these things. However, Breezepelt has to work WAY harder to get approval since his father is Crowfeather, he's been training in hell for the past several months, and Heathertail’s father and brothers are the leaders of the clan, the medicine cat and deputy prospect, Harespring.
Riverclan Historians (Artistry and Archival):
Riverclan has had the longest-living leader among the clans, but this also presents the issue that Mistystar is one of the only cats to remember the Bone Hill, and even then, she's starting to go a bit senile. Not Great! So, the elders propose that cats are trained from very young ages to document the history of the clans but they have no way to archive it until a young apprentice brings in a white rock he found WAY at the bottom of the river that writes little markings when scrapped against dry, hard surfaces. This sparks the creation of a rudimentary writing system of glyphs to communicate, document, and teach. Cats trained as historians are taught major events of clan history, alongside being taught to write and document the stories down in chalk and preserve them accurately.
Shadowclan Clerics (Medicine Cat Advocacy and Safety):
The role of the Clerics was formed after the Ashfur fiasco, not the things the dead cat did, but the way Shadowsight and Puddleshine were treated on all sides, including Lionblaze nearly killing him. Tigerstar decided this wouldn't slide. Cats assigned to the cleric role are tasked with helping religious duties such as keeping their path to the moonpool safe and accessible, learning the medicine cat code, alongside Shadowclan law [NEW], and representing their medicine cat to their general clanmates when things are too complicated for the medicine cat to do so themselves safely. Often clerics are tasked with ensuring the medicine cat is physically protected as well, sometimes acting as bodyguards when they go out, or even being allowed to sleep in the medicine den full-time if the medicine cat allows. Unlike some other roles, newly made apprentices are not allowed to be made clerics. Instead, full warriors and occasionally older apprentices are given the role, and it’s quite an honor.

Thunderclan’s Council Will be Added in the next posts!

More about Amnesiac!Smudge AU I created.
He's remembers his name, but he doesn't remember much of anything else. While he was unconscious, he kind of went to Starclan, and they were like, "Well, he doesn't remember his kittypet origins, so we can take advantage of this"
So Smudge became the new Goosefeather and could see ghosts, but most of the ghosts weren't of clan cats. (I'm obsessed with the Twolegplace Culture) so this Smudge sees The Flickering, and he helps them get their unfinished business.
He also sees a lot of the Demonios too and gets freaked the fuck out and trying to describe it to the medicine cats or other clan cats he's just laughed at or not taken serious and straight up not believed.
Paranormal Investigator!Smudge.
He solves crime by being so fucking scared. He's wants to sleep and not be bothered by the ghosts of the damned.
Thoughts?
Makes me think that Starclan was thinking of some fake sad story for Smudge to tell him when he actually woke up like,
"Smudge, Kittypets took you from your home, they took many of our own away from the Clans. We had to send patrol after patrol to rescue you and the others. But when we were on the verge of success, the Kittypets decided to try and kill you all instead of letting you go, you were the last one left."
Or something like that. Just some total bullshit to try and make Smudge stay in the Clans. Chuckling at the idea of Smudge constantly having a spooked facial expression, imagine him just being so jaded and numb after so long of seeing so many Demonios, it's like if you and your sleep paralysis demon form more of a friendly bond.
Just think about if Smudge was helping one of the Flickering out with their unfinished business:
"So, do you need me to give a message to someone you were closest to? Maybe give you a proper burial?" Flickering: -Places down a rock sharpened to be a knife- "I need you to kill this guy for me."
Onto the last part, Paranormal Investigator Smudge and ShadowSight should team up. GooseFeather probably comes down once in a while to help and FrostPaw also joins in. Together, they are scared as fuck! (Except for GooseFeather)

pls tell me more about the shadowsight is hollyleaf’s kid au im curious and intrigued
Tumblr media
ok! i was gonna put all this in the og post but i didnt feel like it lol -shadowkit is born in the tunnels when hollyleaf is still down there, being raised mostly by fallen leaves. hollyleaf still decides to go back to thunderclan because she trusts that fallen leaves can take care of shadowkit -for pretty much shadowkits entire life from kit to young adult he was in the tunnels, hangin out with fallen leaves, occasionally rock and eventually hollyleaf's ghost after she died -shadowkit does get renamed to shadowpaw by his parents but they dont give him a warrior name (sorta like ravenpaw) - holly, fallen leaves and rock keep shadowpaw a secret in the tunnels for as long as hes in there - everything is fine and chill until holly, fallen leaves and rock suddenly disappear from the tunnels, no where to be found. shadowpaw also starts having dreams about a mysterious grey spotted cat............. shadowpaw (who is teenager aged (in cat years) now) FREAAAKS out and does what he has never done before; leaves the tunnels
-shadowpaw appears from the tunnels on thunderclan territory, closer to shadowclan. he hears a patrol coming and tries to run but the sudden transition from full darknes your whole life to bright white light is hard for him so he cant escape, and gets caught by a rebel patrol (remember those cats in like stemleafs group i think who tried to kill bramblestar? those guys) -squirrelflight is part of that group, and notices his interesting resemblance to hollyleaf. squilf questions him, and he admits he's her son. the patrol is shocked, and decides it would be quite dangerous for him to be brought to thunderclan, so they bring him instead to the gathering island, because they think thats maybe the safest place for him -once squirrelflight and jayfeather are kicked out/leave thunderclan, they go to stay with him on the island, and thats sorta the rebels "home base" now lol. they talk alot about hollyleaf and then shadowpaw brings up the fact holly, fallen leaves and rock disappeared, and shadowpaws dreams, which squilf and jay immediately know have something to do with ashfur - squilf and jay explain holly and ashfurs situation when they were both alive and shadow is very shocked! - shadow is able to help the clans figure out whats up with ashfur because ashfur is in shadowpaws mind, speaking to him and trying to manipulate him into teaming up with him instead, but shadowpaw tricks him, and takes the info ashfur gives him and gives them to the clans - ashfurs whole plan with shadowpaw was to manipulate him into helping him kill bramble's spirit, and bring squilf to the dark forest, then kill him, to get revenge on hollyleaf (if that makes sense) - rootspring and shadowpaw team up and figure out that holly, fallen leaves and rock are trapped in the dark forest with all the other cats, and hatch a sort-of plan to rescue them, but need to find a way to actually get into the dark forest first - everything after this is pretty similar to canon, squilf gets dragged into the moonpool, the med cats & others figure out how to get into the dark forest, and the plan to rescue squilf and bramble begins! - literally everything after that is just like canon lol, bristle dies, snowtuft dies, darktail shows up and then dies, ashfur dies blah blah blah blah blah - oh oh, also, bristlefrost sacrifices herself to kill ashfur and save squirrelflight, instead of shadowpaw this time - shadowpaw is happily able to reunite with holly, fallen leaves and rocks spirits - and after, everything is alright now (other than bristles death), and the clan leaders give an offer to shadowpaw; to join one of the clans - shadowpaw REALLY wants to join thunderclan becuase he gets to know his family some more, but eventually decides on shadowclan, because his eyes have trouble adjusting to thunderclans sunny territory, but is mostly fine is shadowclans forest - shadowpaw starts training under puddleshine, but has trouble, since he has absolutely no connection to starclan, except for hollyleaf (fallen leaves and rock move on to the ancients afterlife (which also might just be starclan but im not sure)) - shadowpaw eventually gains his med cat name; shadowsight!!!! (sorta during early river) and thats kinda it story wise? theres so much text here that i cant post it all (i have more cool facts lol) so ill reblog this and put it in there!

here is summarised version:
starts with Squirrelkit and Ashfur. pretty cool guys they are good friends. ashfur is squirrelkit’s uncle (in canon also that’s why I made this au) and they have a strong bond. Squirrelkit notices sometimes that in the night…… asjfur goes out?????? and comes back with smelly water fish man smell. one day there is a huge argument in the clearing between bramble and ash over this, and that night.. ashfur is DEAD. like actually dead. hit his head on a rock by accident, drowned in a river!!!! Squirrelkit is devastated
when she becomes an apprentice ashfur appears in her dreams!!! dark forest training montage. also they’re still best buds. Squirrelpaw gets emo green hair and goes to the warrior cat ball with brambleclaw. brambleclaw is the new incel.
Squirrelpaw evolves into squirrelflight. brambleclaw’s deputy, and hawkfrost is now dead. two silly gay people are now in the dark forest together. (ashfur and hawkfrost.) when leafpool is pregnant ashfur appears to speak with her this is how it goes:
ashfur: hey niece 2.0 heard you hooked up with some guy.
leafpool: uncle ashfur why is the first time you talk to me outside of you living about me hooking up with crowfeather
ashfur: calm down bro.  and dw I gotchu I was in that same situation
leafpool: what
ashfur: what
leafpool: so what am I supposed to do
ashfur: idk should’ve thought about that before being straight
anyway the three are born, grow up and then the fire scene rolls around. brambleclaw is the evil guy. squirrelflight tells brambleclaw the truth about her not actually having the kits. hollyleaf ATTEMPTS to kill brambleclaw but fails because like his dad he’s just one solid chunk of fluffy muscle. so she runs into the tunnels out of 1. embarrassment and because she was fed up with facing reality
oots goes by and hawkfrost don’t die!,, yippe!!!(?)
pretty big timeskip but in the broken code, shadowsight is a full on clone of ashfur. like got the weird scribble eye (in actuality it’s a birth defect) and the exact markings. but like the same colour palette as ferncloud (a bit darker than ashfur). unfortunately hawkfrost is actually an asshole. hawkfrost manipulâtes ashfur into convincing shadowsight to take bramblestar’s life. silly clones. then it all happens and ashfur just kinda. possesses bramblestar. yea. ashfur is set on just being cool with squirrelflight (and literally everyone) but the clans don’t like the fact that a ghost stole thunderclan’s leader’s body. so they riot against him and ashfur’s like well crap. so he goes back to the dark forest but whoops he kinda made a hole between the dark forest and the starclan. oh no now people are out to kill ashfur.
in the final “fight” (more of a violent confrontation) greystripe doesnt die and shadowsight kinda just.. falls into a bit of dark river. ashfur notices and saves him but bristlefrost think he’s trying to drown him. shadowsight is kinda chucked into the center of the battlefield while bristlefrost and ashfur fight it out. hawkfrost saves ashfur, and stops him from saving bristlefrost. ashfur pushes past hawkfrost and saves her anyway. they argue. ashfur literally attempts to murder his husband. but he loses a lot of his power. they kinda break up (not really they get back together unfortunately). everything goes pretty much back to normal. that’s all I’ve done so far. I am thinking of ashfur being like.. frostpaw’s guide to ghosts. yk

So way back in the day on the original Warriors website, there was an area where you could submit questions about the series that the Erin's would answer and then post the question and answers on a FAQ page. Someone asked about prefixes that the Clans don't use because they're considered sacred, and the answer had been iterations of Moon-, Star-, or the Clan names themselves, so Sky-, Shadow-, etc.
Obviously this isn't true for canon anymore, if it ever actually was (citing here: lack of continuity between the Erins) but I'm curious to know if your AU has any prefixes that the Clan's absolutely refuse to use for one reason or another? Whether they be sacred or maybe they're considered "cursed", like perhaps a particularly evil cat has tarnished the prefix forever. (Such as the lack of Maple- prefixes in canon books post-Mapleshade! Maybe not intentional, but a cool world-building detail nonetheless!)
Stemming from that, do you think any prefixes would/could be turned into insults/curses later on down the line? Basically, what's the culture like for names? My favorite part of Warriors has always been the names, and the Erin's had such a nice thing going until it was tossed out the window. The system you use with Clanmew and all is super neat and I'd love to know more about Clan naming traditions! Also how each leader names cats - idk if it was you or someone else that I follow, but I saw a post talking about how each leader has a distinct way to name their warriors.
(Also small fun fact while on the subject of names, a friend of mine submitted a question asking about who Bluestar's parents were, and the answer was Duskflower and Stormtail. This was a few years before Bluestar's Prophecy was published, so she was very upset over them changing "Duskflower" to "Moonflower" when it did finally come out!)
The Duskflower thing is actually a misconception: What happened was that in a field guide, the Erins wrote that the name was "Moonflower," and then felt that "moon" should be sacred. That's when they started using "Duskflower," until Bluestar's Prophecy came out and they agreed with the editors that the older information should take precedence
(Rare anti-retcon win)
But anyway I have no banned or sacred names! I don't like that concept! Possibly because I am from an old fandom era of 'traditional namers' that just used it as an excuse to bully people and have bad taste. Hawkfrost's name ROCKS MY SOCKS and they all died mad while I'm still here.
My rules with namings is that EVERYTHING must make sense in-universe. So I don't like lyrical naming very much... names like "Friendlyface" or "Empyreanmist" are funny, but I don't see how a kitten would end up with those names unless every cat in their Clan stopped taking their lives seriously
(Or are in WarriorClan. BB!WarriorClan renamings are going to look WILD)
That also means ecologically invalid names get cut or end up being translation quirks. Names like Cypress, Olive, Myrtle, etc.
I don't ban "insult" names either, but I do rule that they are typically ShadowClan. They have a very dark sense of humor.
And yes I am the one with leader naming styles! So far these are the styles:
Bramblestar: terrible. Doesn't consider names beforehand, often comes up with titles that are awkward or unimpressive
Harestar: Reverant and thoughtful, tries to name based on friendships, interests, and quirks.
Mistystar: Names litters according to 'themes,' often sharing suffixes or picking similar ones.
Brokenstar: Only ever gives "cool" names with deadly and strong connotations.
Firestar: Names awkwardly, but genuinely. Surprises his Clan constantly with banger names (Lionblaze) or shockingly uncomfortable ones (Brambleclaw).
Onestar: Names practically, trying to limit suffix repeats and tonguetwisters.
So on.

Moon 0 - Greenleaf
Tumblr media
Talonpaw was in a good mood as he patrolled with his mentor along the shoreline. Dawn patrols along the water were his favourite patrol to be assigned, especially during greenleaf, as he could get most of his duties done before the hottest part of the day and watch as the sun rose out of the ocean.
Howlburr paused to mark some stones near the delta before effortlessly climbing up them, signaling with his tail for the apprentice to follow. Kicking sand with his hindpaws, Talonpaw scrambled up the rocks after his mentor and found him lying leisurely on top of the rocks, facing the water, taking a quick bath.
“You know Talonpaw,” said Howlburr, licking his front leg. “I’ve run out of things to teach you.”
Those words made Talonpaw bristle with excitement, and he moved closer to the grey warrior, eyes wide. “Really? So, does that mean…”
“Yes,” his mentor purred in amusement. “In fact, you would have had your ceremony by now, but the storm threw our plans off. It’ll happen soon, though. I’ve been talking to Cinderstar.”
“Oh, so Cinderstar thinks I’m ready?” Talonpaw must not have hid his true feelings well enough in his voice, because Howlburr’s expression and tone shifted, and he moved closer. Talonpaw could feel his slim, sleek tail drape over his back.
“I actually thought of one more test for you.” Howlburr said, his voice barely above a whisper.  “What do you think of Cinderstar?”
Talonpaw froze a bit, eyes scanning his mentor's face. He felt his fur begin to bristle, and the tip of Howlburr’s tail flicked over his hackles. “What do you mean? He’s our leader. I don’t…I wouldn’t betray him or our Clan or anything!”
“That’s not what I asked you.” Howlburr said coolly. “What do you think of Cinderstar? You can be honest. You’re nearly a warrior now, I want to hear your opinion.”
Talonpaw swallowed, trying to calm down as Howlburr clarified himself. “I think… I think Cinderstar is a strange choice for a leader.” he admitted, “Cinderstar was always the kind of cat to be too concerned with what others think about him.”
He felt dirty saying something negative about his leader, even with his mentor’s prompting. But to his surprise, Howlburr just nodded and even let out a low, contented purr.
“I can understand that.” the warrior said, leaning over to groom and speak directly into Talonpaw’s fluffy ears. “I wasn’t doubting your loyalty, my apprentice. I know you’re a true warrior. You’ve passed that test. You’ll need to be comfortable speaking with your senior warriors and discussing your true opinions with them.”
Talonpaw nodded, feeling relieved that he wouldn’t face any sort of retribution for his shred of doubt in their leader.
“However,” Howlburr continued. “When and where is also important. I wanted to talk to you about this on the shoreline. Up here on the rocks, with the waves hitting the bottom, so any cats passing by will only hear the roar of the ocean, which’ll keep the secrets it hears..”
The apprentice nodded, looking out over the vast sea and wondered to himself what sort of things the ocean has seen and heard, until Howlburr decided it was time to head back to camp.
