The Promises I’m Making (2024)

Sheesh, this year it was even harder than last year to make promises. In particular, I really wanted to focus on promises that wouldn't cost as much money as in prior years, so I tried to steer clear of too many promises that would cost above the basic spending amounts... But it turns out it is really hard to make resolutions if you're broke. 😂

So here's what I'm going with:

2024 Promises

1) Step down from my administrative position and return to being a full-time faculty member. I literally cannot take the clown show that is admin at my work anymore. It is actually killing me.

2) Related to this, redecorate my new office as soon as they decide where they are going to move me.

3) Apply for new jobs!! APPLY FOR NEW JOBS!!!

4) Train my replacement in the chair position well so they are super prepared to take over in fall.

5) Put a new sink/vanity in the downstairs bathroom of the Utah house.

6) Get both bedroom floors sanded in the Utah house upstairs.

7) Finally get rid of the dirt pile in front of the Utah house.

8) Take down the remains of the wooden fence posts at the Utah house.

9) Fully clean out and prepare the Utah house to be rented out to new renters. Hopefully the next people won’t sneak in a parrot that poops all over the floor… RIP…

10) Clean off my back patio/car port area so I can park my car there again.

11) Call the plumber and replace the faucets. Even if I end up having to do it myself.

12) Get the dead tree removed from the Texas house yard and call the internet company to see about the cable around the tree root.

13) Plant roses where the old ones died in front of the Texas house.

14) Replace my CPU fan; the bearings are going out and it’s making an annoying noise.

15) Organize my documents (especially student papers)—my desktop and documents folders give me nightmares just looking at them.

16) Related to that, lose at least 20 pounds. 2020-2023 was not kind to me and the stress eating was real.

17) Do at least one artwork to actually use that paint program I bought.

18) Pay my credit debt down by at least $2000. I’m still paying off the hell year, but I hope I can make progress on this.

19) Buy all the Noragami volumes I am missing and do a complete re-read of Noragami now that the series is finishing up.

20) This is super nerdy, but my bro got me the FFXIV cookbook and made me promise to actually use it, so I guess I’d better at least try to make something from it.

21) Finish at least five books this year.

22) Update HaaH at least once. Please, Echo???

23) Reach the new level cap with all jobs in FFXIV!

24) Go to the graduation ceremony for my family friend.

25) Catch up with hanging up all the charms/pins I’ve gotten recently on my corkboards; these are just sitting in boxes/bags around the house. D;

26) Fully deep clean and vacuum/detail my own car at home. No more of the “It doesn’t make sense to clean it out now; the dog is just going to go back in it.” The dog is always going to go back in it. Clean it, Echo.

27) Help my parents tear out the carpet in my old childhood bedroom.

28) See at least three new species of birds. Doesn’t matter where, just three new ones!

29) Reach 3500 followers. Can I do it? You should follow me if you’re not already; I’m pretty cool. Just sayin’!

30) Cancel all the subscriptions I don’t need. There’s literally no reason to sit around letting companies passively profit off me when I don’t even really use the services/the services keep getting worse while the costs keep going up.

31) Go out on at least a day trip to take pictures with my friend. We haven’t done this in quite some time. I need to touch grass.

32) Repair the lovely one-of-kind ceramic plate that my dog broke with kintsugi. I want to try it at least once!

33) Really look hard for my passport in my house. It’s been missing for like a year and a half now, and I don’t want to have to pay for a new one.

34) Put all the small prints, postcards, and stickers I have collected in my new mini-print books. I can even use up washi tape to decorate too. (Finally, a purpose for the washi tape…)

35) Shred the million pieces of old mail I have lying around the house. I finally got the shredder so it just makes sense to use it.

36) Have more follow-through with chores. It’s not enough to wash the clothes or do the dishes if I then procrastinate on folding the clean laundry and putting the dried dishes back in the cabinets…

37) Put reminders for birthdays and major events in my phone as well as set a monthly reminder to check these promises. Maybe I’ll be able to keep more promises if I look at the list more often throughout the year!

38) Since I can’t afford to go to the salon, spa, etc. too much this year, I should at least do some self-care days at home. Will this be the year I finally manage to use all the fancy scrubs and face masks and bath salts I keep getting from people?

39) Use up one whole notebook. It doesn’t matter what goes in the notebook, but I gotta use the whole thing from cover to cover. I have so many pretty notebooks that never get used just because they’re pretty.

40) Change the burned-out lightbulbs in the recessed lighting in the Texas house ceiling. It’s like twelve feet high and the lightbulb charger stick I bought didn’t work, so I’m going to have to find someone with a ladder. Save me, handyman. Save me.

41) Build the pretty koi paper lantern my brother got me, or the Korean temple model my coworker gave me after his trip to Korea.

42) Actually use the yoga mat I bought forever ago. At least a few times, please???

43) Finish watching the Fruits Basket remake with Kacchan. I think we stopped in the second season, RIP.

44) Spend more time with coworkers—go out to lunch more often.

45) See about removing the PMI from at least one of my house loans to try to save money. I’ve been paying on these loans long enough I shouldn’t need PMI anymore.

46) Practice my German skills (or I guess other language skills?) by translating something at least once a month.

47) Get a new bookshelf. The current ones in both my office and foyer are already overflowing. @_@

48) Make more time to call people and talk on the phone. Texting is not the same. D;

49) Get the new COVID vaccine to stay healthy.

50) I will keep my promises!

Depends entirely on the show. Some dubs are really good, especially when it comes to comedy, others are garbage. No preference I guess but sub is more accessible.

Both are good but I interact with fanart more

Depends but antagonists are typically more interesting

17. Funniest anime you've seen?

Nanbaka

18. Saddest anime you've seen?

Either Death Parade or Devilman: Crybaby (but Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is also worth mentioning)

Sakura from Naruto. If you've seen the show you know why. Virtually no redeeming qualities in that one. Also Deku from My Hero Academia, he's just extremely basic and annoying.

14) anime that's overrated: oof. i'm about to make a lot of people REALLY mad. my hero academia, attack on titan, deathnote, black clover, tokyo ghoul, dr. stone, re:zero, konosuba, naruto, sword art online, fairytale, and any dragon ball.

15) anime that's underrated: i already answered this, but mob psycho 100. charlotte, tengoku daimakyo, tensura, your lie in april, noragami, wonder egg priority, fruits basket (i think people overlook this one bc i've talked to a few people that thought it was a simple slice of life anime.), assassination classroom (but in a different way than people might think). i think people tend to overlook slice of life's simply because there's no action. it's hard to explain it just right

16) anime you dropped, why?: demon slayer. i loved season one a lot. i got really into it. but i'm not compelled to watch more. like, i'll get to it when i get to it. maybe. and then pretty much every anime i listed as overrated. wasn't compelled to watch more. wasn't as good as the hype suggested. i watched some and then couldn't find any reasons to keep going.

26) first anime you ever watched: fruits basket (2001). it was also my first manga. when the reboot came out and i got to momiji's episode (iykyk) and thought "i can't believe fruits basket is getting me sobbing again in this decade. also, why did i think it was a good idea to watch this at work?"

Haikyuu: Asahi tickle Headcanons!

Asahi, the gentle giant from Karasunos volleyball team. How can someone so big be so soft? Here are a few examples of just how soft this big ball of mochi can be~

Lee:

Asahi is a Lee. 99% Lee. He just loves the physical contact, reminding him of the strong bond he and his friends have.

Honestly, when it comes to tickles this man is like a big ol' puppy who wants belly rubs, though he's far to shy to actually ask for them. So his friends make sure to ask him at least every other day if he wants some tickle time. His burning red cheeks are all the answer they need.

As Ducky here informed me, Asahis most sensetive areas are his tummy and sides.

Most of the time, he will try and be still for his ler, that's the best way to get the best tickles.

Raspberries are his favourite. The way he twitches and giggles in anticipation is just pure, untainted gold~

He always has to have something to hug, since he can't stand seeing what's going on. Make sure to give him a hoodie, bag, a big plushie, anything that he can squeeze the life out of whilst you give him what he deserves.

He doesn't mind rough or soft tickles. Anything that gives him that sensation will do.

He won't talk much during his wrecking, his face buried to deep in whatever he's hugging. However, if you did want to hear his laughter better, you'd have to get someone to pin his arms up. Tag-team that big boi.

When attacking these areas his laughter is big and hearty. A little snort here and there too~

Another spot he's sensetive is his ears. If you're not a giant then you'll have to wait until he's sat down or make sure you can jump high enough to sneak a little puff of air into his ear.

Ear tickles make him squeak, yes squeak. He will scronch his neck and shoulders up like a little turtle hiding from a predator.

A great way to tickle this spot is whilst he's napping. Just a little whisp of air or even a feather if you have one on you. His sleepy giggles are too pure for this world and those who've heard them are blessed and should feel honoured.

This man is so easily flustered. Just a nose boop is enough to have him giggling and blushing.

Lots of head shaking, lots of leg flailing but other than that, he's a very well behaved Lee. 100/10 highly recommend~ 🧡

Ler:

Although Asahi is a Lee, that doesn't mean he won't give his friends an affectionate tickle or two.

Big hands. Big huuuuuge hands. And what they do? They tickle. Really, really... Gently. Yes, despite his huge hands he's incredibly gentle.

Too gentle. It's cruel how nice he is whilst he's being the ler. He doesn't even realise he's teasing you when he talks.

'Having fun?'

'Haha, that smile is precious.'

'Well that was an interesting sound.'

Of course it depends on who he's tickling and why. If it's Noya because he's being a little shit his choice of words are more along the lines of-

'Done being an ass now, gremlin?'

'You need to learn your lesson.'

But even then, he's still so gentle. Probably because he's worried he'll hurt those small people.

Warning, rough tickles/handling

Zacky boy doesn't even know what tickling is when you first meet him but after some time you finally manage to pluck up the courage to ask if he is, without fear of being stabbed.

"The fuck is that? Some kind of mental problem'?"

"That's the dumbest fucking thing I've ever heard. Of course I'm not."

Once you explain, you swear you can see the red glow of blush through his bandages.

Over time Zack learns that tickling can be used to get what he wants, or to make you suffer without having to brutally murder you! :D

Ler:

As a ler, Zack is a force to be reckoned with. Evil. If you're not comfortable with rough tickles, you do not want him to catch you.

He will give you a time limit to run, counting loudly with that dirty grin on his face. Usually three seconds, you know how he likes the chase.

Once he's had his fun chasing, he will pin you any way possible. His favourite method is sitting on your waist with your arms pinned under his thighs.

He will tell you not to smile, threatening to 'kill you' if you do. By kill he means wreck you harder.

His tickles are rough and rude. He wants to break you, make you beg and maybe even tear up if he's feeling especially cruel. Sadistic little shit.

He's full of teases too~

"Tickle, tickle, ya' little fucker. Should have run faster!"

"If you weren't such a crap victim we wouldn't even be in this situation!"

"Uh oooh, now you've gone and done it, shit head. Time to die~"

Que him mercilessly attacking your worst spot until you almost wet yourself.

After he's finished tickling you to near death, he will probably tussle your hair and watch you try to regain your composure. He isn't one to flee after a wrecking because he knows you wouldn't dare attack him.

He does know when to stop though, he knows you and what the signs are. He may be an asshole, but he'll always at least ask if you're okay. If he doesn't think you are, then he'll help you up and fetch you a snack or even wrap an arm around you comfortingly.

Lee:

Yes, believe it or not, this multi-murder-maniac has a Lee side. And when it surfaces, it's quite entertaining.

If Zack is in one of his rare, yet very intense, Lee moods, he will do everything in his power to get you to notice without actually saying anything. He's gotta keep up that scary guy aesthetic.

When in this mood, Zack will walk around with his arms over his head, put his feet in your lap, maybe pretend his checking his bandages by leaving his hoodie unzipped.

Lots of huffing and sighing too. Very grumpy. Not-so subtly staring at you out of the corner of his eye to see if you've noticed then quickly gazing around the room if you look at him.

If you haven't noticed soon enough, he'll probably walk away without a word, hiding in his room like a grumpy kid.

If, however, you do catch on, you're in for a treat.

One rule Zack has, no tools. Only fingers and mouths. Something about using tools just makes him very uncomfortable.

His most sensetive spots are his neck, ribs and inner thighs. Any of them make him melt.

Anime I Watched in Quarantine

With some of the restrictions being lifted, I wanted to make a sort of master post to see just how much I’ve watched in my time off. Plus, I wanted to share something more lighthearted with everyone.

All of these anime will be rated on a 1-10 scale, 10 meaning masterpiece, 1 meaning complete garbage. I’ll also share what I liked/didn’t like about each show. This list will go in chronological order, and will encompass all anime from 3/13 - 6/13. Multiple Seasons will be grouped together.

1. Beastars - 8/10

I dig how human and down-to-earth Beastars is. The pacing was a nice and the animation was unexpectedly great! It’s driving force is its characters and their interactions. Felt a little slow at times, and Juno annoys me, but that’s okay. I’ll be watching season 2.

2. Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun - 8/10

Oh my god! This visuals for this were absolutely wonderful! It did feel a little cliche at times, I won’t lie. But, I still loved all of these characters and the nice balance between creepy and comedy.

3. Ao No Exorcist - 6/10

I posted about this one after I finished it. The ending really pissed me off. I feel like if I had watched this when I was 13, I would’ve given it a higher score. Compared to some of the other shounen I’ve watched, this felt a bit basic. That doesn’t mean I still didn’t like it. Still have to get around to watching season 2...

4. Kaichou wa Maid-sama! 6.5/10

Shoujo usually isn’t my cup of tea. Maid-sama was a nice way to ease into the cliches of shoujo. Misaki is a great protagonist and the ending Maid-sama was so satisfying. I’m only giving it a low score because of its slow pacing and lack of certain character development.

5. Violet Evergarden Gaiden: Eien to Jidou Shuki Ningyou - 7/10

I’m a big Violet Evergarden fan to begin with, so of course I liked this movie. It did not resonate with me as much as the series itself, but I still enjoyed it. Kyoto animation is never disappointing in their visuals and sound design

6. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - 8/10

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren - 6.5/10

Chuunibyou was a breath of fresh air for me. It was so different from all other romance anime I had seen at the time. It for sure has a slice of life vibe to it, but it was still so good! It reminded me of being in middle school and my “chuunibyou” phase. The second season was not as enjoyable as the first. I guess I just had higher expectations for Rikka and Yuuta.

7. Dr. Stone - 7/10

Dr. Stone is honestly such a perfect shounen for me. I’m a science nerd, and with taking AP Chem this year it was kind of nice to sorta apply my knowledge. This show also has some of the best reaction images ever. The tone, however, is a little inconsistent which made it hard to keep watching. I do love the relationship between Senku and his Dad, that whole sub-plot was so endearing.

8. Oshiete! Galko-chan - 6/10

This one only gets a low score because its so short and the op takes up like half an episode. This show had been in the back of my mind for a while. I decided to watch it after seeing a video essay discussing it. Its masterful subversion of tropes and stereotypes was refreshing. The message of this show is so positive, and everyone can benefit from watching something like this.

9. Mairimashita Iruma-kun - 5/10

The second half of Mairimashita Iruma-kun was so much better. I’m not completely sure why I didn’t like this as much as I should have. Overall, its a really average show. The comedy (and musical numbers???) give this show and charismatic and chaotic vibe. I’m someone who focuses primarily on character-character interactions, and this show definitely had it. It isn’t monogatari levels of dialogue but it’s still nice. For the studio’s low budget, they were able to make a really bright and colorful show. I’ll be watching season 2.

10. Byousoku 5 Centimeter - 8/10

Very. VERY. Pretty!! This one was another one that didn’t completely resonate with me emotionally. I still loved the story and the way it was told. Its not like Your Name or Tenki no Ko, it’s realistic and grounded.

11. Mob Psycho 100 - 8/10

Mob Psycho 100 II - 9/10

Style alone made Mob Psycho 100 so impressive. By the second half of each season I was emotional invested in Mob and his whole journey. Season 2 is receiving a higher score because it was able to make me cry. That’s something I NEVER expected. I’m mad I didn’t watch this sooner. It is a great balance of action, comedy, and heart.

12. Noragami Aragoto - 8/10

Not sure why I put off Norogami’s second season for so long. I absolutely loved it. The focus on Bishimon was a nice change of pace and it was great to see Yukine develop more as a character and begin to loose his arrogance. Kazuma was my favorite character in all of this. His ability to affect the people around him was presented nicely. I was emotionally invested the whole way through, and I’ll probably pick up the manga.

13. Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji - 3/10

Ah yes. My least favorite thing on planet earth. This is a wonderful example of Shoujo at its worst. Their relationship was incredibly toxic, and the characters themselves were poorly developed and generic. The whole time all I could think was that I was watching normalized Stockholm Syndrome. Our MC deserves so much better.

14. Youjo Senki - 6/10

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to like Youjo Senki as much as I did. I’m not usually one for iesekai. The action was great, but the use of CGI bogged down scenes. I do NOT really like the protagonist that much because she came across as apathetic. Towards the end, I started to like her more. This was also my first military/warfare-focused anime. If either a movie or second season is made, I will probably not watch it.

15. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - 6.5/10

I wanted to like Madoka Magica more than I did. I really did. The style was compelling and the story was interesting. Especially in the beginning, a lot of the death and sad stuff didn’t feel all that sad. The last 4 episodes are a solid 8/10, I love time shenanigans. The emotions and character development really shined through in the end. Madoka is such an inherently kind-hearted person, I love her so much!

16. Yakusoku no Neverland - 8.5/10

I was expecting Yakusoku no Neverland to be more graphic, but I’m kind of glad it didn’t go that route. Like Madoka, the last four episodes had me really invested. However, the character development was not as rushed. It’s a smart show and welcomed change of pace. Emma is my favorite character and you bet I’ll be watching season 2. The more I think about this show, the more I appreciate it.

17. Mo Dao Zu Shi - 9/10

Mo Dao Zu Shi 2nd Season - 8/10

I know that is is technically a donghua, but I’m counting it as an anime because its on MAL. Amazing visuals and an incredibly layered story. Censorship makes it difficult to fully appreciate this work and its original novel. Even though I was confused for the first 2 episodes, Mo Dao Zu Shi did a great job of developing the time period and character relationships. The second season wasn’t as satisfying as the first but still great! I don’t think I’ll be watching the live action anytime soon, but I believe that a 3rd season is confirmed for 2020.

18. Banana Fish - 8.5/10

I knew nothing about Banana Fish going into it. Although I didn’t cry at the ending, it definitely made me feel some type of way. Kind of... numb. Banana Fish is painfully realistic. So much so that I had to take a break after episode 15 because I felt sick to my stomach. I also praise Banana Fish for it’s healthy, non-fetishized relationship representation. Eiji and Ash have such a complex but healthy relationship. I hope Banana Fish is able to pave the way for better representation in media.

19. Promare - 5/10

Why do people praise Promare so much? I hated how predictable it was. The whole movie felt like a 2 hour animation flex for Trigger. The only character in this movie that didn’t manage to piss me off it some way was Lio. The only other thing I’ve seen by studio Trigger is Kill la Kill, so compared to that, this felt like such a step down. :( I was disappointed.

20. Given - 6/10

Given made me both sad and made me want to start a band. Overall the animation is nothing special, I do like the reactions that some of the characters had. Especially that “It’s Mutual” gif set. I couldn’t get over how much Ritsuka looks like Kageyama. My only complaint was how rushed Mafuyu and Ritsuka’s relationship felt. More time should have been dedicated to Mafuyu dealing with and moving past the loss in his life. All that said, I’m still watching the movie.

21. Enen no Shouboutai - 5/10

Generic Shounen, bad ending, great animation. Need I say more? I did not watch Soul Eater (made by same creator), but this was enjoyable. Really cool fights, not so cool character development. A lot of the explanations towards the end felt like complete bull shit. Same energy as using fancy sounding science words to explain things.

22. Hataraku Maou-Sama - 5.5/10

This is another show I felt I would’ve liked more if I watched it when I was younger. The iesekai trope is so beaten down that classics like this don’t really carry as much weight as they originally did. A 24 episode season with more Slice of Life episodes would’ve benefited this series greatly.

23. BNA - 7/10

BNA, in my opinion, was so much better than Promare. Like Hataraku Maou-sama, BNA would’ve benefited from a longer season with more Slice of Life Episodes. Trigger’s newer animation is beautiful and I really hope BNA gets renewed for a second season. The ending was cliche as hell, but still really enjoyed this show!

24. Devilman: Crybaby - 7/10

A.K.A. The one show I’ve got to watch when I know I’m alone. The use of multiple languages besides Japanese in the sub was a unique take. The animation was also a little jarring at first, but I came to love it. The themes in this are not the most positive. The end left me feeling numb, but also appreciative. Ryo pissed me off as soon as he tried to kill that cat, so it was hard to sympathize with him in the very end. It is a really good show, but also sickening, Watch at your own discretion.

I used to write for Kimetsu no Yaiba (I might when that anime starts back up again🤧) and also like once I tried to for Noragami

02. what fandoms are you currently writing for?

I write for The Boyz and ENHYPEN

03. how long have you been writing?

I started writing about 6 or 7 years ago if I count the time I tried writing for Noragami. I officially started writing and posting works in 2019

04. on which platforms do you post your stories?

K-pop on Tumblr only. Anime/manga on AO3.

05. what is your favorite genre to write?

Romantic fluff. Also family fluff. So not just biological family, I love found family with friends. You can really see that in my kny works

06. are you a pantser or a planner?

I think both. I come up with stories by a single scenario in my head and then it kinda either goes from there and I make stuff up as I type or I build it out and set a timeline before writing (this is usually only the case if it's gonna be more than one chapter)

07. one-shot or multiple-chapter?

One-shots… finding the motivation to write multiple chapters works is so ugh. The reason why I stopped writing what I was for Noragami. If it's a one-shot I don't have to be worried about minor details and a timeline. When a chapter is done it's just done and I don't have to worry about it anymore!

08. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?

For me personally, I have to write works with at least 1k words, or else I feel like it's too short. Tho if it's in line with a smau I don't feel that pressed to make it long or anything. I'm not sure if I have a perfect chapter length yet since I'm still in the middle of writing my first multi-chapter fanfic, everything published before was just one-shots that were varying in length.

09. what is your longest published story?

Currently, that would be, I Miss You. My inotan fic on AO3, but only by a little, soon, No Doubt In Us will take over when I post chapter 6 (which that chapter is so far the longest fanfic chapter I've ever written, it isn't even that long tho).

10. what story did you enjoy working on the most?

I think either, I Miss You or A Second Family(another intan fic). I just absolutely love family, especially found family. Finding comfort and love with those you aren't related to is something I yearn for. That's how I am implying Chanhee and Y/N's relationship is in, No Doubt in Us without actually writing their whole story out. They aren't a thing and never will be but they are more than just regular friends. They both are part of good families that they love, but the two of them are so involved with each other's life that they can't imagine not having the other around. They are very important to their own characters and how they turned out, they are siblings at this point.

11. favorite request you’ve written and why?

I only ever got one request, it was also the first thing I wrote for my blog, and boy was it hard. Read it here

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

Any kind of themes that involve love, not in just the romantic form but all types of love. That's what's so fun about love there are a lot of different kinds! So themes kinda vary but it's always about some type of love.

13. current number of wips?

If you count ideas as wipes then 4-5 if not then 0

14. three things you’ve noticed about your writing?

I'm not very good at writing dialogue and don't write it as much as I write actions and feelings, I think. I don't talk with others much so I have trouble figuring out how normal conversations go with certain characters.

I also write more than I realize/plan to. Like I think, "this idea isn't even going to be 1000 words!" And then it's multiple thousands. This doesn't apply to just fanfic it always happens for school papers too.

15. a quote you like from a published story?

“[...] placing a chaste kiss on his lips. I could feel his lips form a smile against mine which made me smile too. I pulled away laughing, the happiness I’m feeling right now seems unreal, but looking at his smile, the reddish color that dusted his cheeks and ears told me just how real it was."-- Not as a Friend. I just love fluff, what can I say! Also decided to pick from my K-pop works since that's what I'm known for here.

She brings the hem of her shirt to her nose, sooking up the blood still dripping down her face, waiting for it to stop bleeding. "My love, I'm sorry...I'm so sorry you were born into this kind of family.""-- another kny story, but it's about Inosuke's mom. I don't think I'll ever finish this. As much as I want to, idk it's so fucking angsty I literally can't handle it.

I used to be very pressed about the numbers (on my twt acc) but then I said fuck it. I've learned to appreciate what I have at the moment and not focus on what I wish I had. So all of you that do read my stuff, thank you! You're likes and rbs mean a lot to me.

Tsukuyomi Theory Summary

Sooo.. I'm sure that pretty much everyone here knows about the Tsukuyomi theory so I don’t need to explain it. But bc there are is so much speculation about it I decided to summarize it. And I also tried to find a convincing counterargument to each point. These arguments aren't specifically detailed since I just wanted to give you an overview for the theory. If you are interested to know more about something just click on the links in the brackets (I basically put the links of the post I got most of the information from in there).

I'm gonna rate each point from 1 to 10 (10 very convincing and 1 not rly convincing) and I’ll put a + în if it’s for the theory and - against it (->The rating is my personal opinion and I'm rating it extra critical).

Everything against the theory is in cursive.

Alright then! Let’s start xd

1. Heaven doesn't remember (-10)

- None of the people in heaven remember hmmmm?? Why???

- Maybe its bc Father put some kind of spell on Yato? But why did Amaterasu help him to get out of the Underworld then? Why would she know about his 'true name'? (Link to 1, 2, 12, 14)

2. Amaterasu wondering 'bout Yatos name (-7)

- Amaterasu asked if his name was Yato (/doesnt recognize him)

-> could be explained as her either not actually recognizing him bc of reincarnation (If she ever even had to reincarnate) or she just wanted to keep it a secret for some reason

-> She might've been astonished bc of his new name/ Pseudo name

3. Moon symbolic (+Flower) (+3,5)

- Yato often gets drawn with the moon and stuff (might just be an artistic choice)

-> On one of the covers he was drawn with a flower called Gekka Bijin which can be translated as ''the beautiful one under the moon'' (Link)

-> And the fact that in ch.37 Amaterasu has been drawn with a sun just supports those reoccurring moon symbolistics with Yato

4. Yukines memory (+2)

- Chapter 80.2: Yukine: ''I saw this person before, who is he?''

- Chapter 73: ''But if I looked harder, you were there'' -> moon in background -> could just be too much interpretation

Still kinda weird that she even put the moon there, she could've also hid it behind yukines dads head or just anywhere else; well maybe she just likes to draw the moon? xD (Link)

5. Trashdad named Yato (+3)

- Questionable: Every other god gets born knowing their name but Yato was named by trashdad HMmmMmMmmmMMMmmmm??? (verryyy suspicious if u ask me)

- But we don't know yet how gods get named. Maybe that's just how it works. Or maybe Trashdad put some kind of spell on Yato (this one actually sounds pretty convincing even despite the possibility of Yato probably being Tsukuyomi)

6. Killing isn't his true nature (+4)

- Although he's a war god he was born with the desire to make people happy

-> you could assume that it’s bc trashdads true wish actually was something else but to destroy the heavens and stuff but honestly, why would Yato even still exist until now since his dads wish obviously is different from the other one? We don't know his true intentions yet which is why we can't evaluate this point

- But I think it's pretty sure to say that Yato isn't actually what father tells him he is

7. Trashdad is worried (-4)

- Father was worried that Yato would disappear if he died

-> he might be lying and manipulating Nora cuz he's a psychopath (Link)

-> maybe he's also worried that if Yato dies he'd reincarnate at Tsukuyomis shrine? (Although I don't think it would be very difficult to get Yato back)

8. Amaterasus help (Underworld Arc) (+6,5)

- Why did Amaterasu even help him to get out of the underworld? If Yato actually is Tsukuyomi that would make a lotta sense since he's her brother._ On the other hand though she trapped Yukine in a box and stuff._ But maybe she just did it bc she couldn't risk getting into trouble with the heavens?? Or maybe she doesn't rlly like her bro, but why would she even safe him from the underworld? xdd (Link)

- HIYORIS RULING PLANET IS THE MOON!!!1!!!11! (alright I'm just kidding)

- Yato can be written differently and then be translated as ''rabbit of the night'' (in asia the hare is often associated with the moon) (Link)

->could just be some kind of coincidence

11. Character design (+3)

- Basically his character design: pale, dark hair, blue eyes (artistic choices again)

12. Tsukuyomis disappearance (-9)

- Why does no one care about Tsykuyomis 1000 yr long disappearance? I mean he's the f ing moon god he can't just disappear? What about his shrines and stuff??

-> or maybe the heavens just hated him so much for killing Uke Mochi that they didn't care lolz (But they did give Ebisu a second chance so why not Tsukuyomi?)

13. Noragami title real meaning (+1)

- Noragami -> he might actually be like a Nora just as a god. 2 different kinds of god (Tsukuyomi the moon god and Yaboku the calamity god) with 2 different 'powers' just like a Nora. (Link)

Or the title simply hints to him being homeless haha

14. Moral (this is just a opinion thing so no rating)

- might 'destroy' the actual moral of the story (honestly I don't think it would destroy the moral of the story he still managed to become a better person without that status. And him being Tsukuyomi also wouldn't solve all the problems, it would just create even more problems. But I can see why people would be upset about this) (Link ->6)

15. Hiiros water abilities (+7,5)

- Hiiro only had water abilities when she was being used by Yato (and NO Rabo doesn't count he doesn't exist in the manga). That's especially interesting cuz in religions and horoscopes and stuff the moon often gets connected to water

- His theme song is called ''Boat in the MoonLight'' (And can be read as Tsukuyomi by making up the first two Kanji) (but honestly that's kinda a stoopid reason since the title was given by the people who worked on the Anime not by Adachitoka)

17. Tsukuyomi Shrine (+3,5)

- The first ever Tsukuyomi Shrine was built by the iki Clan and OH WHAT A COINCIDENCE the first one to actually have built a shrine for Yato was Hiyori IKI. I'm pretty sure that's the reason Hiyoris family can see ghosts and stuff although it doesn't exactly proof that Yato is Tsukuyomi

(-> AND another kind of important thing is that the shrine was built before Tsukuyomis 'Reincarnation' which means he actually could've known the Iki Clan members personally so it would make more sense that they built a shrine for him)

18. The source of the calamity (+4)

- He thinks that he brings calamity to everyone around him but all the calamity that was ever brought to anyone around him was caused by trashdad

-> Although this doesn't proof that he is Tsukuyomi it definitely is another proof for Yato not being a god of calamity _

19. Real mythology (+2)

- Tsukuyomi disappears from the japanese Mythology at some point (there isn't that much information 'bout him anyways) -> might have been a good opportunity for Adachitoka to create her own story about him

20. Cutting ties (+1)

- Why would a minor god like Yato have the ability to cut ties? Especially if he is a 'war god' according to trash dad. But u know it still is a possibility so eh not really a reason

Overall: Although the points against the theory are more convincing it seems to be more likely that it’s true.

So it kinda just stays an opinion thing? xd Well anyways it doesn’t matter whether the Tsukuyomi theory is true or not Noragami is and always will be great.

Chapter 79 Thoughts

I have a lot of thoughts regarding the future of Noragami, and not many of them are actually good. How the hell can 16 pages hold more pain than any regular 40-something paged chapter? Eugh. Everything being talked about just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I was gonna write this later today, but I woke up after four hours of sleep and literally couldn’t stop thinking about what happened in this release. So, I’m here to talk about it.

Right off the bat, I didn’t like this chapter. To start with Yato saying that he had to convince himself that Kazuma was his only option? He was literally backed into a corner by said person. He didn’t have a choice.

And Kazuma? Kazuma’s a mess. He went from aloof determination to get Yato to name him, to being utterly miserable and guilt-ridden. (Yato even says that he’s afflicting him, but probably not in the way of blight. Emotional baggage? No doubt. And emotional turmoil, while not as intense, is STILL a pain in the ass for any god.)

So it’s obvious that they’re both feeling pretty bad about what they’ve done. But maybe in the grand scheme of things, they think it’s worth it. I don’t know. First we had Bishamon tailing the sorcerer for a fight, which landed her in not-so-good condition, to put it lightly. It was essentially a failure. So to have Yato attempting the same thing, with little regard to his own life, is nothing short of heartbreaking.

So Yato’s pretty excited about the form Kazune took. It’s the first time that a shinki has ever become a divine garment for him, and maybe he sees it as proof of how far he’s come.

But then Kazuma dashes that excitement with an underhanded jab at his original purpose. I don’t usually let my emotions dictate how I analyze bits in this series, but man, I felt angry at him for saying that. It was almost like he was denouncing any progress that Yato had made as a god of fortune, or how hard he’s worked to become more than his past. Even with them being friends for so long, I feel like it was uncalled for.

Also, I dunno about you guys, but this panel actually felt worse than the ‘god of calamity’ panel, to me:

It’s almost, almost like something Nora would say. Or maybe even Father. I hope that this would be the only job that Kazuma intends to bestow upon Yato, honestly. He doesn’t need to linger on that ‘calamity god’ status for too long. Since a shinki shapes their god’s nature, it actually concerns me that Kazuma is now his shinki. If the guy sincerely thinks of Yato as calamitous, that’s how things are going to turn. I hope that Yukine’s influence has been strong enough that things don’t change too much. But, I guess we’ll see.

It’s revealed that both Yato and Bishamon have similar reasons for their naming process. I figured Yato’s reason a while ago--well, a friend of mine actually headcanoned it, and I accepted it until proven/otherwise. But honestly, I never gave much thought to why Kazuma remained Kazuma. I just accepted it as a course of events.

So, we next find out that Kazuma was born the second son to a salt wholesaler, and was decided to be the one to inherit the business. He died at 19, however, at the hands (NO PUN INTENDED) of his (assumed) jealous older brother.

Yato goes on to say how similar he is to Yukine, who was confirmed to be murdered by his father at the age of 14. This is something that has been speculated and assumed by the majority of the fandom, but having it confirmed actually feels worse than the assumption did.

He admits that he wanted to give Yukine a better ‘life’ after death, heavily implying that the kid’s actual life wasn’t so good. But he feels like he hasn’t done him any good, and wonders if reincarnation would really be the best thing for Yukine to ensure a kinder and gentler guardian in the future.

What?? Absolutely not! I’m sure majority fandom can agree that Yukine would not want that at all. He’s come to like Yato for being... well, Yato. Maybe he even sees him as a father figure. If Yato were to reincarnate, he’d lose that person entirely. The newly incarnated Yato would be a completely different person, in his eyes. He depends on Yato a lot more than he’d like to admit, so it’d strike him pretty roughly to lose him.

Yato goes on to repeat after Kazuma, and apologize to Yukine for betraying him. Which, yeah, he is--but possibly for a good reason? I dunno. I still feel like this mission could have repercussions. Yato’s ready to go into battle though. Kazuma... maybe needs a while to sleep on it.

To close off the chapter, we have Yato talking to the (now asleep) Kazuma about a girl he used to love, who got married off when he was 15. This information surprised me, because it confirmed that I was at least near the ballpark of Kazuma’s love life. While it says that she was married off when he was 15, I don’t think he really got over the Edo side chick. (This was coined and now I literally can’t stop thinking about it, lol.) I think up until the day he died, he still held feelings for her. Y’wanna know why?

Kazuma calls Bishamon ‘Viina’. I got this awkward feeling when I got to the end of this chapter--like, what if ‘Viina’ was the nickname of the girl he loved while he was alive? Okay, maybe that sounds a little out there, I know. But I remember that there was something about the scene where Kazuma gave Bishamon the nickname, and it just didn’t... sit right with me, for some reason? Until I looked back and took note of Bishamon’s expression when he said it.

That one panel holds so much... hesitance, I guess would be the word. I couldn’t put my finger on why until I considered these circumstances. Maybe it was, and she just decided to let it be. More so as not to coax any possible consequences. (She couldn’t have just said ‘No’, because what if he asked why? I dunno, I’m really just speculating.)

Ugh, but you guys. The amount of information dropped in this chapter kind of worries me. Particularly about Kazuma, it’s being done in such a way that feels like he may have a death flag over his head. Something that I really hope isn’t the case, because this could be a great time for some personal growth.

There’s so many things that we still need answers to, but I can’t help but feel that this really is the last arc. I’m not sure why, really.

As for my own thoughts, do I think Yato will be reincarnated? Honestly... no. I don’t think that’d be the end-game, as much as Adachitoka are hinting at it. That would basically make the entire growth of his character rather pointless--at least, in my opinion. As much as I would like his slate to be wiped clean, I don’t think he needs to abandon ship just yet.

In all honesty, it actually a bit scary how careless he seems about his own mortality. Wasn’t it he who tried to teach Ebisu about the importance of his current former life? He hasn’t forgotten that, has he? Yato, please--revisit your old viewpoints. Some of them actually held sound advice!

Something we also get in this chapter, is what looks to be mutual feelings between Yato and Hiyori. Normally this would be a good thing for the readers, but there is so many negative implications to go along with it, that I doubt it’s going to get positive traction any time soon. Best case scenario, they won’t actually do anything about their feelings until well after Hiyori’s an adult. And even then, it’ll be a tough road. (Looking at you, Kofuku.)

Eeeeeh, anyway, these are just my thoughts on this chapter. I’m an emotional mess over it so it was actually more difficult than usual to simply keep my feelings from interfering. I hope we get to see more of Hiyori’s side, next chapter.
