Hello, I'm not sure if you're aware, but tumblr is going to start helping midjourney gather data for their AI. You're one of the artists I follow here pretty actively and I wanted to warn you to maybe start nighshading your art before posting it here so it doesn't get swept up!

I've seen a couple of posts about it. Feeling disappointed but not that surprised. Also not excited about having to start nightshading/glazing my pieces but if there isn't going to be any serious regulations regarding data scraping and ai "art", there aren't a lot of choices.

#from what I've seen the effectiveness of nightshade/glaze has been debated and I don't even pretend to understand how it works #but like watermarks it's at least some kind of preventive measure a token effort to stop your art from being stolen and misused #but I fear that if someone is determined to do it anyway chances are they will find a way unfortunately #this shouldn't be the reality of trying to share art online #it's a pretty dismal situation when this responsibility falls on the artists themselves #I've been here since 2011 I've lived through multiple tumblr apocalypses I'm not leaving unless they make this place wholly unlivable #and I don't think there are truly good alternatives with similar sense of community and as varied posting and customization options #it seems like every other major social media platform is doing this exact same thing if not worse #answered #ohdeergood #I'm tired we're all tired of this

COOL LEGENDS BB!CATS HAVE ABOUT THE DAWN ERA:

Generally, stories from this time are heavily mythologized. It is the era of legends and high fantasy, with its founders being remembered as abstractions more than real cats.

So ideally I'd love to tell arcs where every appearance of the founders in StarClan is like seeing angels. Monstrous, powerful beings that are more elemental than feline. Then, suddenly, you get to go back and see them before their appearances were twisted by generations of fantasy.

The Red Squirrels and the Gray Squirrels (Pishkaf om Chakchak) A ThunderClan myth, especially popular after the exile of SkyClan. The story goes that the wretched gray squirrels once decided to persecute the humble red squirrels. So the red squirrels appealed to Thunderstar to save them, but Skystar decreed that might makes right, and refused to manage the gray squirrels in his territory. It's treated as a kitten story, a parable about the importance of managing one's territory and defending things with low threat level.

Bumble Mumble and the Rogue of Rot The Clan cat version of a tower of babel story. It's the story of an unnamed rogue who steals the kittens of Turtle Heart and Bumble Mumble, killing Turtle Heart in the process. In response, Bumble lets out a mournful wail that strips the Rogue's words away and scrambles language forever.

Sun Shadow Steals the Sun The story of One Eye's defeat, slowly morphed into a cute tale about why you can't stare at the sun. The legend goes that One Eye was unbeatable, wearing a pelt that could not be scratched, even as all the founders united to defeat him. Sun Shadow realized that the only thing that could defeat him was the power within him, and so he challenged him to "show all of his might." Through this, his flesh was burned, but he gained a power above all. He guards this now as the sun itself, but would have to give it up to the next person who defeats him in a staring contest. So don't look!

Snake Claw's Serpents Newest one I'm still working on; but once upon a time, in his hatred of serpents, Snake Claw slew all of them from the deadliest adder down to the most defenseless slowworm. But without snakes to fear coming into their burrows, all the prey hid there, and all the cats of the Clans went hungry. He begged StarClan to return the serpents, and they agreed-- but he would need to craft them again, from memory. He spun his hate into love, but each one still came out endearingly wonky. It's why a grass snake has no venom, a slowworm's tail can fall off, and some adders are green. And most importantly, it is why "Snakes" (serpent in Clanmew, "Sis") have scales despite being "Worms." He forgor.

That last one's still changing though, I think it's very cute but I also want to make sure to put Snake as a character rework before the fun legend I want him to have, lmao.

Something I really appreciate about Forte is that he is both sensitive and persistent.

I've been having a hard few days symptom wise but it took me a while to figure that out and thus start doing things to help myself. In that time Forte has been on me, constantly coming up to perform his grounding tasks and keep me safe. This includes quite literally keeping me from kissing the floor because I can become so disconnected from my body that I fall out of chairs.

Aside from people telling me I look tired, it's not been obvious to others either. But Forte is so attuned to me that he recognized the signs and has been doing his job, even though I didn't and thus wasn't really rewarding him for it. In fact, I'd been pushing him (gently) off me and wondering why he was so clingy as of late.

He refused to be deterred by my lack of praise or reward, which normally I am generous with. And when I finally realized what he'd really been doing it just... I am overwhelmed with how amazing he is and how much I love him. How bone deep grateful I am to have him.

He's such a good soul. There's a lot of impressive things dogs can be trained to do. But I believe that actively choosing this job isn't one of them. That has to come from the dog. They have to have their own desire to be a service dog. And he reminds me time and again in his steadfast adherence to his training, regardless of getting paid or not, that this is what he chooses.

If you read the whole thing, thanks for letting me wax poetic about my amazing dog. And if you skipped to the end, that's cool too. Either way please enjoy this photo of Forte in a bow tie. It was gifted by a coworker and I believe shows him as the ultimate gentleman his is.

anyway i've watched six episodes of violet evergarden and i'm here to say that i think she would fit astonishingly well within the fma universe. the name? fits the vibes. that's not so bad either. the fucking metal hands? hey violet, we sure do have an entire valley just for you.

if you just dropped her into amestris, i'm not even sure anyone would pick up anything weird about her. sure, they'd probably figure out she was a soldier because, hey, they're fucking surrounded by soldiers, they're probably pretty good at picking out soldiers, but like it would just be "ah yes, a retired child soldier that's missing some arms. what the fuck are the military doing" as opposed to "THIS GIRL IS OTHERWORLDLY."

i'm not even sure VIOLET would notice anything weird straight off. like obviously she's in a strange world, but it's not... that strange. if you accept that she's speaking the same language, then at first glance, amestris is different, sure, but probably to the extent that she thinks she's ended up in a kingdom with roughly similar customs. oh, the alchemy? it's incredible what the military is able to accomplish these days, it seems she has to update her parameters on what's possible in the world.

like, yes, the moment she gets her hands on a map and actually has a clear view on what alchemy does (rather than, say, watching roy mustang snap his fingers and see fire descend upon the world), she'll probably figure things out, but until then, she's probably just trying to figure out how her ship/train got so fucking lost. hey, guys, have you heard of <X Name>, they hired violet for her scribe services and she can't fucking find them. is this not the kingdom of <insert name here>? no? oh dear.
