''Obi, I just need to finish this. Give me a few more minutes.''
''No, I've been waiting for too long.''
This was how it had been for the past hour, Lena trying to coax her girlfriend into giving up her university work to watch a movie with her, but the midfielder hadn't had much success so far.
Y/N sighed loudly. ''I am almost done, I promise.''
''You have been saying that for an hour now, babe, I am bored.'' She retorted, her frustration evident as she tried to sneakily grab her girlfriend's laptop, only to have her hands swatted away.
''Off, Oberdorf! I swear…''
''I just want to watch a movie with my girlfriend, that can't be much to ask.'' Lena continued whining, clinging onto her partner like a koala.
Y/N would have normally chuckled at her antics, if it wasn't interrupting her task to review an important chapter that would be covered in her class the next day. ''And I just want to review this stupid chapter, that can't be much to ask.'' She mocked the German, imitating Lena's facial expression.
The Wolfsburg player begrudgingly removed herself from her girlfriend's body, settling on the other side of the couch with a loud huff. Though she hoped her dramatic display would garner sympathy from Y/N, she soon realized that her partner was too engrossed in her studies to pay her much attention.
As the student continued to read through the assigned academic text, she heard some faint audio coming from her girlfriend's phone. However, she decided to simply ignore it and get through the grueling reading she had to do.
But as Lena turned up the volume of her device, the sound became increasingly louder, disrupting Y/N's concentration. She would have been more tolerant if it weren't for the fact that the same part of the song was being repeated over and over again.
She cast a glance towards the footballer, not looking particularly happy as she had to pause her activity again. ''Obi, what are you doing?''
''Making a TikTok.'' She answered, mumbling as she was focused on her phone.
''Can you do that in another room, please?'' Y/N asked, trying to not let her frustration be too audible in her voice.
Lena shook her head. ''No, I really need to do it in here.''
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows at the response, sending a pointed look in Lena's direction. Despite her irritation, she remained rooted to the couch, unwilling to give in to her disruption by relocating to another room.
About a minute later, she saw in her peripheral vision how Lena held up the phone in the air, seemingly filming the pair on the couch.
''Obi…'' She warned her partner, but Lena continued lip syncing to the audio, though she moved the camera back so she was only filming herself.
Y/N let out a breath of relief when the music stopped, her annoyance slowly withering away.
After what felt like an eternity, she finally closed her laptop, her reading session complete. With a stretch and a satisfied sigh, she pushed herself up from her spot on the couch and made her way over to Lena's side.
''I'm done, what movie do you wanna watch?'' She asked the midfielder, laying her head on Lena's shoulder.
Lena gave her a grumpy look, acting as if she didn't want anything to do with her at that moment. Y/N could see the cracks of a smile beginning to form at the corners of her lips, though her girlfriend was trying really hard to suppress it. ''Don't know…'' She muttered in an innocent tone, pretending she hadn't been whining for the past hour.
Y/N placed a gentle kiss on her neck, a smirk on her face. ''Too bad, maybe my other girlfriend would love to watch a film with me.'' She teased, continuing to peck her neck and collarbones.
Lena swallowed, her facade slowly falling apart. ''Hmm, maybe. Or do you keep her waiting as well?''
Her partner chuckled, her fingers tracing gentle patterns on Lena's arm. ''She doesn't mind being patient, it's what I love about her so mu-''
''Okay, that's enough! Let's watch that new romantic comedy I told you about.'' Lena interrupted, playfully pushing Y/N away from her, before wrapping her arms around her and attacking her face with kisses.
Y/N grinned, amused by Lena's subtle jealousy over a nonexistent person. ''Nice.''
Lena's hand found its way onto her girlfriend's thigh, while Y/N nestled into her side, resting her head on the German's shoulder once again. ''Comfy?'' Lena asked, glancing down with a soft smile.
Y/N nodded. ''Always.'' She responded, briefly lifting Lena's hand up from her thigh and pressing a quick kiss to her knuckles.
While Lena searched for the film on their tv, Y/N remembered the video she had been filming while she still had been busy with reading. ''What were you filming earlier, by the way?''
''Oh,'' Lena laughed, recalling the TikTok she had made. She retrieved her phone out of her pocket, opening said social media app. ''This.''
The footballer put the screen in front of her, the text on the video reading: Me when my girlfriend has to do uni work instead of watching a movie with me.
''Obi, that's such an unflattering angle!'' Y/N exclaimed, watching herself in the short video.
''What are you talking about, you look cute!'' Lena protested, zooming in on her form, clearly not seeing anything wrong with it.
Her girlfriend rolled her eyes, but let it go. ''You're gonna post that?'' She curiously inquired.
Lena shrugged her shoulders. ''Only if you're fine with it. People always ask me to make more TikToks with you.'' She answered.
''It's okay- you gotta give the people what they want.'' Y/N winked, leaning forward to place a kiss on Lena's cheek.
''True,'' the midfielder blushed, ''and I want to watch a movie with you now.'' She diverted from the topic, putting the phone back where it came from.
''What Obi wants, Obi gets.'' Y/N teasingly added.
Lena gave her a side glance. ''After an hour…''
''Oh, don't ruin the vibes!''

PRACTICAL MAGIC AU?!?!?
ABSOLUTELY, I have had this one in the dome for AGES but only now do I have the brain space for it. I only have one scene fully hammered out and it’s probably going to end up being a multichapter, but here’s a sneak peek:
-
"Why would I ever fall in love? I've never seen it do anything but make people miserable," Lena says. "It killed my mother. It's the reason my stepmother hates me."
"None of that was caused by love," Sam argues. “Your mother got sick, and your stepmother hates you because she hates herself and needs to take it out on someone.” She fusses with Lena's hair, starting to make an idle braid in it while Lena scoffs.
"I beg to differ."
"I don't think you'll be able to stop yourself when it happens," Sam says. She finishes the messy braid, combing her fingers through it until it's untangled again. "You're only 11. What happens when you grow up?"
"And you’re only 13. I have magic," Lena shrugs.
"I don't think even magic can do that. You can't just hit an off-switch."
Lena's eyes narrow. She twists around to look at Sam, the cogs in her mind already turning.
"Actually, I think I can."
It's true that no spell exists to take feelings away. Once it's taken root, her mother's book says, love is a stubborn weed. It grows in all the cracks of the heart until it's taken over every inch of fertile ground. But what do exist are spells to give love shape – to mould it, direct it, make it brighter. To call for it to find you. Such spells are complicated, but Lena has always had a natural aptitude.
"So to keep yourself from falling in love, you're…casting a spell to…find love?" Sam says, her face twisted up in confusion as Lena wanders the garden gathering the herbs she needs. It's dark outside, and they're darting between shadows – the garden is here for the kitchen staff to pick fresh ingredients from, and the last time Lillian found her snipping rosemary she was confined to her room for two months.
"I'm calling for a true love," Lena clarifies. "Amas Veritas. I'm binding myself to a person that doesn't exist."
"How do you know they don't exist?"
"They can't. No person can fit all my criteria. And if they don't exist, I can never fall in love with them," Lena says, sifting through her pencil box full of herbs and flora. "I think that's everything I need. Come on."
It's too late for Lillian to be awake, but they tiptoe through the halls anyways until they reach Lena's room. The spell needs open air to work properly, so Lena sets up a circle of lit candles on the balcony, sitting on one side of it while Sam sits on the other playing with one of the lit wicks.
"So who is this impossible love you're calling for?" Sam says, hissing when she doesn't move her finger fast enough to keep from getting singed. "What’s Lena Luthor's soulmate like?"
Lena takes a deep breath, trying to summon the peace and concentration needed for such a complex spell.
"They need to be kind," Lena starts, setting one ingredient after another in the circle. They rustle in the breeze, but don't blow away. Oregano, chamomile, violet. "Marvelously kind. Loyal. And they need to hear my call from a mile away."
"A mile?" Sam says, leaving the candle alone to watch Lena work the spell. Lena has done magic in front of her before, but never anything involving this kind of ritual. "That's pretty demanding,"
"They'll whistle my favourite song," Lena says. A snipping of chamomile. Comfort.
"Which is?"
Lena doesn't answer.
"They're strong. Strong enough to lift…" Lena trails off, thinking. A car? A house? Lena doesn't care necessarily about measurements like that so much as what that strength could do. She wants someone strong enough to keep Lillian away. Strong enough to take her away from here.
"Strong enough to keep me safe," Lena finally decides, adding a clipping of lovage. "They know ten languages. They can hold their breath for 10 minutes. And they can make pancakes in funny shapes. Flip them in the air."
"Okay, that's at least reasonable," Sam says, munching on a few leaves of mint that Lena isn't using.
"They love my favourite pizza toppings."
"And that's asking too much," Sam finishes, tossing the stem over the balcony. "Olives and mushrooms? It's like you're not even a kid."
"They wear glasses," Lena decides in the moment, "but not because they need them to see. And they have blue eyes. The brightest blue eyes in the world."
"I'm more of a brown eyes person," Sam muses. Rather than distracting her, Lena finds that Sam's presence is actually helping her concentrate – keeping her mind happy, rather than dwelling on the anxiety that the idea of such a love brings her.
"And they need a great family," Lena says, her voice cracking a little as she lines up the last few herbs. "A mother who loves them." No, she thinks selfishly as she snaps off an extra piece of lilac – two mothers. Enough to love both of them. "They need to be indestructible. So strong that even a curse can’t take them away."
And finally, the one request that Lena knows will clinch it. She gathers a handful of rose petals, cupping them in her palm.
"Anything else?" Sam drawls.
"Yes," Lena says quietly. She looks up at the sky, the great big empty expanse she's dreamed about escaping to ever since the doors of the Luthor manor first closed behind her. Freedom. "They can touch the stars."
The magic starts to gather as soon as the last requirement is spoken. It swirls around her, lifting the spell's ingredients and floating them around her in a gentle spiral, making the candle flame flicker, before floating skyward. And to her alarm, as she sends the spell into the heavens, Lena feels a slight tug. Like a string tied to her ribcage has been pulled towards the sky, urging her somewhere else.
But it passes quickly. The string dissipates, her call to the sky fading, and Lena knows the spell didn’t work. Couldn’t have.
Perfect people don’t exist.

Sabotage is a Girl’s Best Friend
Yelena Belova x F!R | Wanda x Natasha
Request (I lost it, but it was a simple / easy to remember- Jealous Yelena who sabotages every date R has until she’s caught) | WC: 3,959
Tumblr media
Yelena quirked a brow at you as you waltzed into her room, having slammed her door into the wall to emphasize your frustrations, you fell back onto her occupied bed and groaned, "That was the third failed date this month!"
"Maybe love isn't in your future Y/N Y/L/N."
"No, it is. I just think you're finding the duds."
Natasha looked down at you with a smirk, it was almost as if she knew something you didn't, but you knew there was no point asking. Because the redhead did know, but she would never say it to you for her little sister's sake.
——
She knows what it's like to have to learn how to be a human being again, to develop deep feelings like the ones Yelena so clearly has for you. It's not too far off from her agonizingly slow love story with Wanda. However, the witch was aware of her feelings the whole time.
You're oblivious. Painfully so. Watching you two together is entertainment for the couple.
Wanda's almost always ready to meddle, but the redhead always stops her. She knows that Yelena would hopelessly ruin things if forced into it too soon. Which would be a real shame, because Natasha was rooting for you wholly; Yelena was good at keeping you, the resident klutz, safe, and you softened Yelena's heart.
The blonde deserved to have someone she could be care free with, and that loved her.
Natasha knew you loved her, so, as soon as you left the room she began to harass her sister.
"Yelena, you can't keep doing this to her."
Yelena sighed, hands over her face in shame. "I have no other choice." Her shoulders shook as she held back a sob. "I can't lose her when I haven't even had a chance to have her yet."
"Then make a move," Nat urged, her hand tight as it squeezed her shoulder encouragingly. "I hate seeing her so dejected, you're going to give her a complex. Tell her the truth, then the both of you can have the happy ending you deserve."
Yelena scoffed, "Y/N deserves better Natalia."
"You are plenty enough Lena," Natasha sighed.
"Not for her." Yelena shook her head with a hoarse sob, and so the redhead pulled her into a tearful hug. "Y/N loves you just the same, and would be crushed to hear you say that."
You wiped away the tears, nodding towards the closed door in agreement as you heard them. A bittersweet smile overtook your face as you took determined steps towards your bedroom.
If she wouldn't make the damn move, then you would have to. Starting by catching her in the midst of sabotaging yet another date. One you'll have set up for the both of you after she hopefully confesses instead of running away.
Natasha left her sister's room half an hour later after she got Yelena to lay down as she sobbed. Putting the broken blonde to sleep, and letting the redhead make her way to your room fast. Part of her was relieved you'd eavesdropped, but the other part was ready to pummel you.
When she finally found you she was even more frustrated, ready to go off on you until you turned to her with a smile and reddened eyes.
"I was thinking I'd ask Tony to rent me the entire arcade," you murmured over the pen that was now in your mouth. Natasha smirked as she stared down at your long list of ideas.
"The Kraft Factory Tour, is that even a thing?"
You shrugged your shoulders and giggled, "I'm an Avenger, I'm sure they'd make it happen."
Your easy laughter made the redhead hopeful, but she still felt a protectiveness for Yelena. So, Natasha abruptly caught you by the chin, her eyes hardened as she peered into yours. You gave her time to figure out your intentions, and once she did you felt her finger tap your nose.
"You leave the date to me," she grinned, "It'll make Wanda so happy to help, and it gives you time to plan your monologue, make it good."
A week went by, giving the blonde false hope that you'd given up. Sadly she wasn't that lucky, so now Yelena paced the floor of the elevator as it slowly descended the many floors. How you kept finding people was truly of no shock to her. You were perfect, so much so that she knew that one day she'd lose you for good. To the one smart person who fought back, who saw through her bluff and to your worth.
It honestly upset her every time they ran out of the bathroom with their tails between their legs. Forfeiting a chance with you was a sin.
This time you were going to a rage room, it didn't seem like much of your thing, but she just assumed your partner (to never be) picked.
As the blonde exited the elevator she was in a hurry, which is why Tony should've known to steer clear of her path, but he stood in it.
"Belova, just the person I was looking for." She rolled her eyes, and attempted to walk by, but he mistakenly stopped her with a hand on her wrist. She spun their bodies and slammed him into a wall. "Speak your words, don't touch."
Tony stuttered, "W-we have a mission."
"I am off the clock," was her quick, dry reply before she left the building in a focused stride.
The brilliant idiot had cost her time, something she couldn't afford to lose any of while trying to stop you, once again, from falling in love. It was growing exhausting, your constant flow of dates never seemed to cease. They always gave her an uneasy feeling, but this time it was only heightened by the revelation that Sarah, your old mission partner from your shield days, had asked you out. The pre-established connection was anxiety inducing. What if she is the one?
That was preposterous... Yelena was the one.
Even if you didn't understand that yet, she knew that one day she'd have the courage to tell you. It was the only destiny she banked on.
Once she made it outside of the compound she wasted no time climbing onto her tricked out bike, weaving through traffic with ease as she raced to get to you. She parked a lot away then sprinted into the building to find you and the brunette with the pretty smile, and doe eyes wrapped up in a reminiscent embrace. Her heart sank, but she didn't let it stop her.
As if fate was on her side the woman excused herself from your chat, and headed off towards what she could only assume to be the restroom. It was the easiest rendezvous spot Yelena had come to find out with every date she'd foiled.
Yelena made her way there fast, her heart on the verge of exploding as she wondered if Sarah would finally be the one to fight back. Not that she'd win, the blonde hadn't taken things to the next level with her threats, but she was willing to do anything for your love.
"Listen up," she didn't waste time as she began her speech before the door even full opened. A frown overtook her face though when she waltzed in to find her sister's girlfriend on the counter instead, wearing a playful smirk.
"I'm listening Belova." Natasha took her sisters silent glaring as a warning, so she emerged from the shadows of the large stall and took the liberty of locking the door before the blonde could bolt. The clicking of metal made the blonde turn to shoot the glare her sister's way instead, it was basically heatless. Yelena was masking the hurt from the betrayal, she was beyond terrified that the plan set in motion here was to prevent her from stopping you.
"Move out of the way Natalia!" She growled, her fists flexed, and the redhead rolled her eyes. Yelena hated not being taken seriously so she resorted to slamming her into the door. "If she and Sarah leave here together I will never speak to you again. This isn't fair to do!"
"Yeah, you're right Lena, it isn't!" She scoffed and pushed her sister backwards. The blonde caught herself before falling to the ground and raised her fist, ready to deliver a punch that was halted by swirls of red tickling her skin.
"Let me go Wanda Maximoff, or so help me..."
Wanda cut her off, "If you two would stop the bickering then you'd know that's exactly why we're here. To help you to get your love."
Yelena narrowed her eyes at the smug smirk on her sister's face. Natasha knew just how to push her sister's buttons, but never in a way that would be truly damaging. It felt justified to her to scare the blonde, to show her that her childish behavior would fail her eventually.
"How will I get my love if you've trapped me?"
"Are you truly incapable of figuring it out?" Wanda groaned as she flitted around the space to prepare her station. "Y/N figured you out."
"N-no, I-I was so careful." Yelena's teeth pierced the skin of her lip as the anxiety began to consume her. "Who the hell told her?!"
Natasha pulled her into a hug, her hands ran down the younger girls back as she let her sob into the fabric overlaying her chest. Then as the sobbing ceased Natasha spoke: "You did."
"I did no such thing!" Yelena pulled back, her defenses even higher at the crazy insinuation. "Don't be crazy. I would never say anything."
"She heard us last week," Natasha fed her the obvious information, "I guess I didn't wait long enough for her to leave before I scolded you."
Yelena was once again ready to annihilate her sister, but Wanda yanked her into a chair, and magically bound her to the seat. "The point isn't to place blame, but it's instead to rejoice that the cats out of the bag, and to get you ready for the date. Save the simmering rage for the rooms full of priceless antiques." Wanda pouted at the thought of the old televisions being smashed to pieces, and for the first time the sisters were in sync with their eye rolls.
"Moya lyubov', are you serious?" Natasha couldn't stop from laughing. "Deadly." The look Wanda sent her lovers way stopped it.
"Seriously?" Yelena wasn't afraid of Wanda. "It's all just junk witchy. We're in the new ages. Like, did you know you could make mac and cheese in a cup now? How revolutionary."
Wanda slapped the both of them upside their heads with the flick of her red shaded hand. Wanda ignored their grumbles in protest as she pulled a stunning outfit from a garment bag. It was fancy enough for the dinner Wanda had booked later, but practical for the rage room you two wouldn't budge on. "Go change before the clock strikes 12 and your princess bails."
Yelena looked to Natasha, eyes wide as she processed the reality. Her fingers consequently turned white as she squeezed the hanger, and the redhead took a step forward so she could press her forehead to hers. "Y/N's waiting for you Yelena, she's not going to reject you."
"How do you figure? What if she only agreed to this so that she could yell at me?" Natasha chuckled softly, "Because, she asked her friend who is engaged to play the part tonight, and she picked this dingy place with you in mind."
Yelena fiddled with her hands as she was escorted to the massive gymnasium. "Breathe," Natasha whispered, then before she could she was briskly shoved into the lions den. It was a massive space, the biggest room they'd rented out to people actually, and she was enamored.
In the corner stood an attendant who was patiently waiting for her to meet him by a door. Her eyes flitted around the room to find a wide variety of things to break, along with weapons to use for the objective. If not for you waiting on her as well she would've kept her pace leisurely, but she quickly made her way over.
"Welcome ma'am," he greeted with a fake smile, she could empathize as that's how she approached most people at the compound.
"I am not old enough to be a ma'am," she said, her tone nothing short of menacing, and then her glowering expression fell into a smile at the sound of your distant laughter. She didn't even pay him anymore attention as she followed the sound to a room full of various white suits.
"Glad you'd graced me with your presence Belova, I was starting to think I was stood up."
Yelena smirked. "You are." You rolled your eyes, but contradicted your gesture with the casual slip of your hand into hers as the man walked in to give the both of you the spiel.
It was comical really, the barely legal boy-man was informing two highly trained Avengers how to be careful with their chosen weaponry. He'd been prepared to tell you about the ways in which you should hold a sledgehammer as you swing it when the blonde decided to tell him how she's broken many bones with them.
He left in a rush after that, and wished you both a good time. Yelena cackled as she put on the suit, meanwhile you only shook your head.
Once the two of you were alone, and the humor had faded the vibe suddenly became tense. So without a moment's hesitation you led the way back into the destruction zone and began to shatter things with a wooden baseball bat.
Yelena followed your lead, using the previously mentioned sledgehammer to destroy a line of white, old-timey washers and dryers. Both of your minds were running wild with worst case scenarios, and with each slam of your weapon into something that shattered they'd settle.
After about ten minutes of grunting and swinging it was you who finally broke the silence that Yelena found a bit too comforting. When the wood hitting the floor echoed through the space she gently set her weapon against the wall and slowly walked over to you.
You met her halfway, leaning onto a beaten up box-tv with your arms crossed. "Why did you never just tell me Lena? I-I would've waited."
"I didn't understand until it was too late," she admitted softly, you could hear the emotion she was desperately trying to suppress. "You went out with Darcy, and when it didn't work I was elated. Then there was Carol, who left the next day for space, but seeing her flirting was enough to make me want to throttle her."
"Everything there was just a fling. I wanted to ask you out, but every time love was brought up you cringed and mocked the concept. So, I started to try dating seriously considering it was my only remaining option. Then I just thought with every failed attempt that maybe I was the problem, just simply undesirable."
"No, don't say that, you're the most desirable!"
"I don't get it though Lena," you smiled sadly, "You could have anyone you want. Why me?"
Yelena frowned, something she'd never done with you stood in front of her before. Normally she couldn't help but to smile, but your words of self doubt wounded her greatly. In all the time she spent worrying she wasn't enough for you, she never considered you would be in the same boat as her. "Why not you Y/N?"
"Do you know how many gorgeous people would kill to date you Yelena? The line would be out the door, and yet you settle for me."
She shook her head and threw a hand in the air to hush you. "Don't do that. I do not ever settle. I win. This is no different. You are one of those gorgeous women, you are the most perfect."
You chuckled humorlessly, "I'm far from it."
"You are blind," the blonde snapped, she swung the bat and sent a few glass bottles into the wall before she dropped it and walked up to you with a few glass plates in her hand now.
"Comparing yourself to a world full of people who couldn't even catch my attention. They are all nothing when held up next to you." Yelena held up a gorgeous black plate adorned with fancy gold trimming, and beside it a boring white plate with faded floral printing. Then she smirked as the latter shattered into tiny pieces.
Yelena set the fancy dish to the side then she brought your hand to her lips for a sweet kiss. "In a world full of ugly, you are the beauty; If my line is out the door, then it's safe to say that yours has to be around the globe. Which makes sense with all the dates I've had to crash."
"You didn't have to," you teased with a short laugh to follow. "I would've said no if I knew you wanted me the same way I did you."
Yelena's mouth fell open, nothing but splutters left as her tongue practically fell limp. She was a trained spy, with Natasha at her side this whole time screaming of your reciprocation, but she still felt bamboozled at the revelation.
"I knew I loved you ever since I saw you at that charity drive," Yelena confessed with a shake in her tone that usually isn't there. "When you helped that legless toddler find her furrever friend in that little calico kitty that matched."
You narrowed your eyes playfully, "Yeah?"
Yelena nodded without hesitation, it was your genuine intention that had her fall into the pits of the unknown. At the time she took it to be envy, but then she saw you go on a date with Darcy and she quickly realized the truth as she met and befriended the green eyed monster.
"I win then," you challenged, "I loved you so much earlier than that." Yelena shook her head and groaned, "Please don't say at first sight, that's just illogical." You giggled, then pondered allowed, "What about second?"
Yelena tried to remember what day it could've been, but she was stumped. "You were new, and practically attached at Natasha's hip. If anyone even tried to get close you'd glare."
Yelena hummed, she didn't doubt you at all.
"Well, it was the middle of the night when I found you in the kitchen. You looked so sad, and for a moment I could feel this pull. Fate decided it best to let me slip only seconds later, and it was in the moment that you caught me, as I sorta fell for you, that I knew you were it."
"Oh," Yelena felt her entire body warm at the sweet origin story for your emerging story. "Yeah," you giggled before throwing yourself into her body, she initially stiffened, but in a blink she was pulling you even closer to her.
For a moment the room was silent, the two of you felt the serenity deep in your bones. Then, in true Yelena fashion she had to interrupt it. "By the way, I don't need people to kill for me, I can do it by myself, and for you of course."
"Oh goodness me baby, I will never tire of your humorous little quips." Yelena wanted to say she was being serious, her words weren't intended as a joke, but she decided to settle into the joy you felt, plus, her heart was too busy hammering at your chosen endearment.
Your session wasn't over yet, but there wasn't any anger left to latch onto, so you took her hand and escorted her to the changing room. Both of you helped the other out of the plastic suits, then on your way out you thanked the couple who helped you plan it all, and tossed the redhead her sister's keys. "Don't—."
"Don't crash the bike, I know... I can't believe you'd even say such a thing to me." Yelena went to rebuttal, but you pulled her away before the sisters could bicker—again.
The rest of the night was a dream, the two of you skipped out on the fancy dinner after only seeing food she'd never tried before. Yelena was a picky eater, and by that notion, if there were no chicken tenders on the menu (there weren't), then you could count her out.
She'd frowned initially, but gulped down her budding resentment for your sake. But you knew the girl like the back of your hand, so without a word you left a hundred on the table as a tip for the inconvenience, then grabbed her hand. "W-where are we going dorogoy?"
You spun around to face her with a bright smile after hearing the slip of a Russian pet name. It nearly sent the woman to her knees to have you that close, she wondered if you were like her own kryptonite. She didn't fully get the nerdy references Peter made, but she still tried.
"We are going to McDonald's." Yelena looked ecstatic for all of two seconds, then she pouted thinking she ruined the night. "I'm sorry."
"Yelena, this night belongs to us. Not Wanda, nor Natasha, it's about what we enjoy. You'd have likely barfed if I let you sacrifice your tastebuds for the sake of my own. Plus, I hate the ambiance of these sorts of restaurants."
Yelena nodded in understanding, the lack of lighting made it near impossible for her to even see the menu full of options she didn't favor. It made gawking at you near impossible as well.
"McDonald's is so much better, they have a play center, there's options for all, and most importantly I can actually see you smile."
"I can still eat here if you want Y/N," she tried, but to her delight you'd playfully shook your head and then caught her completely off guard. You'd leaned forward to peck her cheek, you felt as her lips turned as you lingered, then you both felt your stomach's swarming joyfully.
When you once again tried to walk away you were stopped by a hand on your wrist that seamlessly moved to your waist. Yelena held your gaze for a long moment, then as she found no hesitation from you she leaned forward and it was as if all of her worries disappeared.
Under the dimly lit streetlights in the barren parking lot the blonde felt her heart mend. As your lips perfectly slotted between her own, and your body melted beneath the pads of her fingertips it was as if the world rewarded her.
A lifetime of pain endured led her to this moment, with your body pressed against the door of your car. She reasoned it was all worth it for this kiss that signified a beginning.
One that everyone knew to be long overdue.
"You ready to go eat moya lyubov'?" Natasha whispered against the nosy witches cheek as she nuzzled against her affectionately from behind. "The dinner reservation expire soon."
Wanda watched as Yelena's hand began to wander, and suddenly the matchmaker trance was upended. "Let's go Natty bear, I want some caviar, this day has officially drained me."
Natasha bit back her snark in favor of not sleeping on the couch, her neck had yet to recover from the last time. She resided with silence, even if they both knew the only thing to be significantly drained tonight is her wallet...
At least the card she gave to Yelena was Tony's.

My favorite ships ranked!
There's a huge chance this list will change once every two days at the very least, but let's do it!
1. SUPERCORP
Literally my favorite ship ever. They're just perfect for each other in every possible way. Their love languages complement each other perfectly, they can rely on each other, and they work together like the best team in the world. Lena needs love and Kara knows how to offer it without asking for anything in exchange. She will take whatever Lena is willing to give her and be happy about it. But Kara still needs someone that will look at her and see who she really is, no judgment, and someone who she will be comfortable being herself - Kara Zor El - with.
Speaking of fanfic, I think it’s safe to say these fandom has some very talented authors who gave us very well written works. They can also work in every possible scenario, so that's a huge bonus.
Favorite scene: "Supergirl might have saved the city, but, Kara Danvers, you're my hero."
Tumblr media
2. SHOOT
Shoot is THAT couple that should have ended up together, but didn’t. I don't hold a grudge on it, though, because Root's death made sense to the show's ongoing plot. I can't say they would be perfect like Supercorp because Shaw has some emotional problems and Root is just also in love with a artificial intelligence or whatever, but they would work. Shaw would try - for Root - and Root would love every part that Shaw allows her to see.
Favorite scene: "You can't live with me and I can't live without you."
Tumblr media
3. WAYHAUGHT
Do I even have to say anything? Our most perfect CANON couple. They were perfect from start to finish. The way Nicole absolutely adored Waverly, almost like a worship even, but wasn’t afraid to stand tall on her ideas and opinions. The way Waverly acted like Nicole hung the moon and stars in the sky just for her, and how we know she would be able to do anything to keep Nicole happy. They're that couple that make everyone's teeth rotten with how sweet they are.
Favorite scene: "You guys make The Notebook look bleak."
Tumblr media
4. CABENSON
One of my favorite gay ships, so it has a special place in my heart. In the early seasons, it's pretty clear, at least for me, that Alex and Olivia could have something going on. I believe they were both shoving it away because none of them was ready to get seriously involved with anyone and they knew that whatever they decided to have would be too special to be treated lightly. Unfortunately, time was cut short for them when Alex got pulled away for WitSec.
I do think they will forever be each other's "almost", or "what if", but they're long past that now. They changed too much and they did it separately. If they were together, they would have changed around each other and, possibly, be able to work those differences to stay together. But now I don't think they would be able to keep a relationship. It's a bit sad, but it's also a very good portrait of reality.
Favorite scene: "You like being back on court, don't you?"
Tumblr media
5. BISHOVA
I'm new to this ship, but I already love it. They remind me a lot of Shoot, actually. We just know that Yelena needs to find someone who would love her with no restrictions and that she deserves to find love. And Kate needs someone able to ground her, but also someone who allows her to be as silly as she wants, someone that will always have her back, doesn't matter how insane her plans might be. They have chemistry too. Also, I can see them getting together with no drama at all, or maybe something they can easily solve, and then being together for the rest of their lives to the point that they can't even remember a time they didn’t know each other. We didn’t get to see them that much, sadly, but I keep my hopes up for more scenes of them in the future.
Favorite scene: "You have one fork?"
Tumblr media
6. FLEURMIONE
Okay, two intelligent and beautiful women together? Sign me in! I've been in Harry Potter's fandom for many, many, years now and, after giving it too much thought, I can safely say that Fleur would be the perfect match for Hermione. She would challenge Hermione, they would have endless discussions about any and every subject, they would have enough books together to fill up a library, and they would make each other want to be better every day. I also see Fleur being a bit sarcastic and Hermione keeps rolling her eyes at her at least fifteen times a day.
Fleur is constantly curious about the muggle world, always eager to learn anything Hermione is willing to show her. She would have a great relationship with Hermione's parents, mostly because she thinks they're one of the most genius people on the planet because they know how to fix people's teeth. Meanwhile, Gabrielle would loooove to talk with Hermione, especially when they get together to embarrass Fleur.
Favorite scene: You know, the totally canon one when Fleur asked Hermione to the Yule Ball.
Tumblr media
7. LOU MILLER X DEBBIE OCEAN
Heist wives? Yes, please.
We don't even need to pretend. These two were totally banging throughout the whole movie. The headcanon is that they used to date, then Debbie made some stupid decisions, met the wrong people, they broke up for a while and then Debbie got locked up. I believe Lou was so angry with her for both being stupid and for ruining what they had because she wanted to get more money than they actually needed, that she didn’t even visit Debbie in prison.
While there, Debbie had enough time to realize how much of an idiot she had been, so it's up to her to win Lou back. Meanwhile, Lou knows that she's screwed the second she sees Debbies smile again. She just can't help but orbit around her.
Also, they're the Moms, no doubt about that.
Favorite scene: "Baby, I don’t have a diamond yet."
Tumblr media
8. DANSEN
The only reason they’re all the way down here is because I hate CW, but I actually love them more than half of my family. They’re married, they’re moms, they’re in love, they’re perfect. Someone as caring as Kelly needed someone to make her go crazy like Alex, while Alex deserved someone that would understand her no matter what. Honestly, I just love them.
Favorite scene: THE PROPOSAL
Tumblr media
9. CAROLNAT
Is there any chance this could happen? No.
Do I still dream about it? Constantly.
It's just one of those couples where things would just work. My biggest headcanon for them is that they would be constantly laughing and having fun. Always joking and playing around with each other. Natasha would crave physical touch and Carol would be happy just to be around her at all. Carol would finally find a reason to stay on Earth without feeling guilty about it and Natasha would one thousand percent make a retirement party for her.
Also, they would protect each other so fiercely that no one would even dare to warm any of them.
Favorite scene: The one where Natasha ends up on top of Carol in the training room. Totally canon, trust me.
Tumblr media
10. GLORBIA
Might sounds crazy, but hear me out.
Barbie is literally Gloria's dream Barbie, and Gloria is the reason Barbie is alive. Once Barbie becomes human, I can totally see Gloria falling for her without even noticing it, while Barbie takes a while to realize what are those things she's feeling. I do believe Sasha would have a strong part in bringing them together. She would be the one to explain to Barbie what a crush is and what being in love should feel like, and then she would have to give her mom a gentle push to acknowledge her own feelings.
After that, fluff all the way. Gloria would be the most patient person in the world while she sees Barbie navigating human life, just happy to have whatever Barbie is comfortable giving her. Meanwhile, Barbie keeps getting surprised by how strong her feelings can be every time she even looks at Gloria.
Favorite scene: Not a scene per se. Instead, I'm bringing that Tumblr post that says "Ken only has a great day when Barbie looks at him. Gloria always has a great day when she looks at Barbie."
Tumblr media
Bonus
11. GAY BELLA
Quite literally, any lesbian ship from Twilight. My favorite one is Rosella, but Bella x Tanya is a close second. Bellice is also a very strong candidate, not to mention Bella x Kate. And, oh, did I hear someone say Bella x Irina or was it Bella x Leah? Honestly, just give me lesbian Bella and I will be happy.
12. ROJARIAS
One of the hottest couples that exist.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I unapologetically love Girls
Yes, I'm bi, 😝 But I also love Girls, the comedy-drama series. The general opinion I see online is: most people can't stand to watch it. It's cringe. It makes them uncomfortable. For one reason or another, many haven't watched it. I would like to share my love for the show and what it means to me.
The glory of Adam Driver. Getting the obvious out of the way. He has always been gifted, this man who evokes such a raw and vulnerable edge. He is compelling, point blank, and this show acts as a long form story where he not only stuck around as one of the ensemble cast, but his character's evolution over the entire six seasons is a beautiful and subtle performance. I remember being surprised and delighted that Dunham didn't write out his character after a breakup, as they might do on say, Sex and the City. Adam Sackler hung around and became a core member of the group. Everyone else noticed his talent too, which is why Kathleen Kennedy snapped him up to play Kylo Ren in Star Wars. Girls gave me Adam Driver and I felt right at home in Star Wars with him. He's given his all to everything he's ever done. He is the actor of our generation. And he didn't get his breakthrough on the stage, or his episode of Law and Order. It was on Girls. But I don't need to brag. Just watch the show to see the absolutely feral and filthy fuckboi he starts out as. Watching it purely for Adam Driver will be worth it, and you might just end up liking other parts of the show, too.
It subverted my expectations constantly. And that's a good thing! People (me included) expected this new, anticipated show to be the Millennial Sex and the City. And I mean, there is sex, and there is Brooklyn, but this show goes in all different directions AND keeps up with male characters. See point 1 above. Adam, Elijah, Ray, and even dear, dysfunctional Desi round out the ensemble cast of women. As a long-time fan of Sex and the City, that show uses the Kens as ornaments, only utilized for sex and jokes, and breakups. The women don't talk about anything but the men they're dating. And guess what? That's fine! It is what it is. And I fuggin love that show --it was so formative for my 17 year old self. But then my 22 year old self watched the first season of Girls and was blown away by the way Dunham and the other creatives firmly planted their heels as an entirely different show that was not to be compared to anything that came before. These characters are complicated and deeply flawed. And at many times, unlikeable. But the writing is good. There's always one or two "bottle" episodes per season where characters are on a trip back to their hometown (season 1, episode 6), or the absolutely heartwrenching Marnie adventure in season 5 episode 6. I have many more examples I could give (Honorable mention to season 3 episode 9!). These episodes reveal another layer of complexity to each character in a way that feels lived in, possible, real. There's specificity and sharp wit. Characters often have a turbulent epiphany about their life in these bottle episodes, one that's usually scary to admit and confront. One of my favorite episodes is Hello Kitty (season 5 episode 7). It has so many moving parts, the play in the apartment building, the horrifying true story the play is based on...and yet that episode is so fun to watch. Beautifully written and directed. It has stayed deeply rooted in my mind as a piece of magic. This show has plot lines that are controversial and will absolutely divide people. It's not so middle of the road that it's blah, that’s for sure. It's irreverent and at times, utterly troubling. It makes you question your own character a little deeper. And that's why I keep coming back to study the show again and again.
Girls made me uncomfortable and cringe the first time I watched it. I was indeed like all the rest of the critics, appalled at Lena Dunham's flagrant nudity (I was from a Mormon town and had recently escaped the cult myself). Lena's body looked different than that one, victoria's secret model-type that we are all familiar with. Dunham's lack of shame horrified me and intrigued me. It tickled some deep part of my brain that yearned for the same liberation. But more than that, it was the scary way I related to the character within the first three episodes. Hannah is an aspiring writer who's 'bigger' than her friends. She hopes to be the voice of a generation. She wants to write a memoir. She’s just unkempt enough that no one takes her seriously. I was slack jawed after the pilot. I'd been watching myself on screen, for what felt like the first time ever. I staggered away from the tv and the episode rolled around in my brain, until a week went by and it was time for another episode. I'd just undergone a LEEP procedure to remove pre-cancerous cells from my cervix because I'd contracted HPV. Then episode 3 was about Hannah tracking down the boy who gave her HPV. Only to find out the ex she hooked up with that one time is gay. And yet again, it was like Lena Dunham was writing my life. Dating the gay boy who's a musical theatre aficionado? Yep. Me, Hannah, and Lady Bird. Hannah Horvath's life diverged from mine with every subsequent episode, but come on. If you were me, you would have been hooked too. Each season, no matter how batshit any character was, no matter what they did, I tuned in. And even though I was outraged when Hannah quit safe, secure jobs, like GQ (that allowed her to interview Patti LuPone!), it was really just me projecting my own money concerns. And when I cringed at her nude body, it was really just my own fatphobia and insecurity that I am still unlearning to this day. The writers of the show decided to make the characters self-sabotage in order to create comedy and drama. Hannah doesn't conform or stay quiet or people please to survive, like I had to. Watching Hannah and the girls became more of a “what not to do.” Back then I was comforted that while life was hard, at least I wasn't fucking up as badly as Hannah Horvath. Now I can laugh at the silliness and hijinks. It's all just good, fictional fun when you're past the poverty and crippling self-doubt of your twenties.
My thoughts on my body (and Hannah Horvath's) have changed. And that's the best thing of all. I rewatched Girls in 2022, a ten-year anniversary sort of thing. Wow. I saw it with different eyes. The eyes of someone older, wiser, happier. I watched it as a 32 year old, two years into my healing journey with my mind, body, and with food. And I see Girls in a new way. I see Hannah's body. It's straight out of Renaissance portraits. She is beautiful because she is real. I am also beautiful, and real. And so are you. Our bodies allow us to do and experience so many things. I'm grateful for the one I have. The culture in the 2010's was absolutely fat-shaming and misogynistic. When Dunham did press interviews, she deserved to be asked about her writing and directing, not why she was nude. And even when I wasn't ready to see Dunham's body (because I was still living in the fantasy that if I just did the next diet, I could finally be thin and look like the girls in the media), I am so glad Lena showed her real body and now that shit is immortalized in the Library of Congress. Good for her.
Girls shows some hard realities, for worse or better. The girls don't make lifelong vows to always remain friends. It's not a soulmate, forever Sunday brunch kinda thing. In fact, the show distances them all from one another over the last few seasons and at the end, gives them a sendoff in which they agree to float away from each other, more or less. And that's the true reality of some friendships, especially in your twenties. People will come and go throughout all of your life. It's a certainty. This show was creatively driven by a 24 year old woman, who was showing us the reality of adult life as a young person in a deeply corrupt, capitalistic system. A shitty recession where being an unpaid intern is legal. Getting felt up by your boss is tolerated by women in the office for the sake of financial security. Not eating to save money, hoping that boy texts you back, licking Cool Whip from the back of the spoon, avoiding the reality of your student loans. C'est la vie.

Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters AU
So, Lena as Gretel is the daughter of a grand white witch, right? Which means the grand dark witch is hunting her heart for the ritual. The grand dark witch being Rhea, of course.
I like the idea of Mon-el being the asshole sheriff who tries to turn the town against Lena, Lex, and even Kara. Sowing violence and mistrust so that his mother can act with impunity. He's totally human tho, like his dad. Rhea barely tolerates him but for the role he serves.
When Lena and Lex are separated following the witches' raid on the town, they eventually find their way back to each other by stumbling upon their old childhood home. They barely recognize it, but they know that's a witch's lair in the cellar. And Lena, who has been putting the pieces together, tries to tell him what she suspects, but before she can Rhea arrives, reveals Lena's nature as a witch, and knocks them both senseless. When Lex regains consciousness, Lena is gone.
When Kara offers her knowledge and help to stop Rhea (and save Lena), Lex isn't in a position to refuse. With her help, and the book of light spells they find in the lair, they gain just enough of an edge that Lex stands a chance of getting his sister back.
At the ritual site, Lena is tied up for the slaughter. Rhea monologues in front of the other witches who have congregated, waiting for the blood moon eclipse to begin. As the eclipse draws closer, Lena starts to feel a new power build within her-- her own magic swells, itching to be released.
Lex arrives and starts blasting witches' heads off. In the commotion, Kara scurries through the fray to cut Lena loose. But the ropes are thick, and Kara's knife is small. As she saws through the ropes, Lena spots Rhea marching towards them with murder in her eyes.
"Must hurry, must hurry--" Lena mutters, trying to keep her cool.
"I'm almost-- there!" Kara cries, ducking aside as the ropes split apart and Lena surges from the altar to meet Rhea on her feet. Kara tosses her the knife as she goes, and Lena catches it deftly before swiping at Rhea with the blade.
Rhea easily dodges, snarling. Even after Lex flips her a weapon (her favorite crossbow), though, landing single scratch on Rhea proves difficult. She is a grand witch, after all.
Knocking Lena to one side, Rhea looks up to find the blood moon has passed. Her chance to complete the ritual is gone, and won't return for another generation. With Lena still recovering from the last blow, Rhea whirls towards Lex, and slashes her wand through the air between them.
Lena looks up just in time to see the spell gather on the tip of Rhea's gnarled wand, aimed straight for her brother. She screams.
"NO!"
At her cry, a snarled mess of roots pulls from the ground as though bidden, twisting themselves into a savage point that pierces through the back of Rhea's head to protrude through her mouth, widening until the constraint of her gaping teeth halts its growth.
It's too late. Even as Rhea falls limp, hanging lifelessly from the giant thorn of twisted vines, her spell leaves her wand and blasts into Lex's chest. He drops to the ground like a marionette whose strings have been cut.
"Lex!" Lena scrambles to her feet, dashing towards her brother, skidding to her knees beside him. She cradles Lex to her chest, looking to Kara for help. "Please!" she begs. "Please save him!"
Kara can only shake her head. "I can't. He-- He's already gone..."
Horror washes over Lena as reality sets in. After so many years of having only her brother, of protecting him, loving him-- he's gone. She's lost the one person in the world who never left her.
She's alone.
Grief rises sharp and hot within her. Tears fill her eyes as her ears roar. Emotion overcomes her, blinding them both to the unnatural sounds of bony joints clicking out of place behind them as Rhea's limbs begin to bend the wrong way, gripping the roots piercing her skull and climbing off them like a beetle.
By the time Rhea stands her skull has rebuilt itself. Instead of reaching for her wand, her fingers close around the ritual dagger, intent on taking advantage of the distraction of Lex's death to finish the last remaining Luthor sibling.
Just as she draws the knife back to strike, Lena's power surges through, amplified and made unstoppable by Lena's heartbreak as she sobs.
"No!" she screams to the void, sobbing. "NO!"
Her power blasts out of her in every direction, a bright white light that blinds Kara and saturates their surroundings with warmth and love. The force of Lena's magic halts Rhea in her tracks, and ultimately eats her away to nothing. The dagger drops harmlessly to the ground with no one the wiser.
When the light fades and Lena sags, suddenly spent, hopelessness nearly overcomes her. But then Lex sucks in a lungful of air, audibly gasping as he jerks back to life. Kara can only stare as Lena cries out in joy and relief, wrapping her brother in a fierce hug while Lex reels.
Kara has never seen anything like it. Somehow, Lena's power was enough to pull a life back after death had already claimed it. Truly, Lena is a grand white witch.
In the aftermath, Lex and Lena receive their payment and head off to their next adventure. Kara doesn't see them off from the village-- after all, the townsfolk had nearly murdered her. But her heart is still heavy as she sits in the forest outside her lonely cottage. The woods suddenly feel much smaller than they had before she'd met Lena...
"Hey."
Kara looks up to see Lena leaning against a tree, her crossbow slung over one shoulder. Lex stands with a horse and cart just a bit beyond, his features largely unreadable but not nearly so distrustful as they had been a few days ago.
Kara looks back at Lena in time to see a lazy smirk curl the woman's features.
"You coming?"

Spike that! 11‣ Taehyun that traitor!
Tumblr media
#Synopsis➤ There is a reason your team doesn't let Lena spike, its for everyone's safety really. Too bad she doesn't listen and too bad that rule wasn't enough to stop her from accidentally hitting an unsuspecting Huening Kai in the head. But hey, at least it lead to his crush finally noticing him, aka you.
#warnings: brief mention of food thats it
#wc: 759
#a/n: omg posting sp! on a friday??? finally the chapter that has been giving me so much trouble.. tbh I am not very happy with this but if I didn't post this at all we would never get an update :/ so please lmk what you think! and I'll try to revise it! also ignore the dates
Tumblr media
It has been at least 10 minutes since Taehyun left to "use the restroom", that traitor.
First he invites you here out of the blue, which you didn't mind. Until you realized he failed to mention he also invited someone else, and then he leaves the two of you ALONE with your plate of now soggy fries. Unbelievable, you're going to give him an earful when you leave.
You feel bad for the boy sitting across from you, he probably had no idea what Taehyun was planning. Not to mention how awkward the air is, you haven't talked since you arived. You've only talked this boy twice and that was because your teammate hit him in the head so took him to the nurse along with buying him "apology" coffee.
Maybe you should tell him he can go? Or should you be the one leaving because he's Taehyun's friend? Or would that be too rude-
"Um.. nice weather we're having right?"
"Huh?"
Your snapped out of your thoughts looking to the sheepish boy in front of you as he scratches the back of his neck. You stare at him blankly -for what feels like an eternity to kai- before you finally reply,
"Oh yeah..its really nice out isn't it." It was a midless reply but you can appreciate his attempt at small talk, no matter how quickly the awkward air settled back in.
Kai clearly felt it as well as simultaneously the two of you open your mouths to speak, only to interrupt the other. And when you both suggest the other to go first, the two of you let out a short chuckle before he tells you to go first.
"Ah I just wanted to say thank you again." You say sending him a small smile. And Kai swears he feels his ears burning at the sight of it. Ignoring it he tilts his head in clear confusion for you to clarify "For always supporting the team! You're a really dedicated fan huh?"
He pauses for a moment before mumbling the word "fan" under his breath, the taste that word left in his mouth was a bitter sweet one. A part of him was more than a little disappointed by the word if he was being honest,  but then again he only talked to you for the first time a week ago, he should be grateful right?
Huening Kai perks up in his seat as he replies "Oh yea! I mean I'm a big fan!! I bet you will make it to nationals in no time, I'll try and watch!" he adds at the end.
Feeling bashful you look down picking at the plate of soggy fries in front of you "Well I hope we do,  It gets really rough sometimes but I think I can do it if I know at least someone in the stans is cheering for us.." And maybe you sound a tad bit shameless but you mean what you said. Of course you're aware there are people on your side and rooting for your team, but it felt nice to let yourself think someone was rooting for you specifically.
Looking back up you see Kai looking at you with an expression you can't quite make out "Why are you staring at me? Did I sound ungrateful? "
"No! No! Not at all. Its just that a lot of people want to see you succeed, its more then just me I promise." he quickly explains letting out a little laugh at the end that has you frowning.
"Wait why are you frowning??"
"Sorry I just haven't heard something like that in a while, thank you." you say smiling brightly at him
It was something so simple but Huening Kai could swear he felt his heart tug in his chest, the butterflies in his stomach moving around ever so slightly when you smiled so sweetly. How were you so genuine even with such an awkward atmosphere? Or maybe you were always like this? The awkward stage was just something in passing.
Unfortunately before he can say anything in response Taehyun comes walking back, he almost forgot it wasn't just the two of you here.
Immediately you turn to raise an eyebrow at your brother "What did you blow up the bathroom?? Don't you know its rude to leave your friend alone?"
"Why don't you go check?" he teases causing you to hit him "Ow! Kai do you see how she treats me?" he rubs his arm to which roll your eyes and Kai just simply laughs.

19, 39, 40 please! :D
19. Share a snippet from a wip without giving any context for it.
No context, eh? :D
“Flashlights?” Andrea asked. “Mine is busted.” She dug it out of her pack and held it up to the light. A crack down its side and its broken lightbulb made it useless.
Sam dug deeper into her pack. “Oh. Well, that would have been smart to pack, wouldn’t it?” She smiled sheepishly at Andrea.
“Chupame la concha,” Andrea said, probably her favorite curse, which Sam had determined translated to roughly ‘suck my pussy.’ Tempting but unlikely to get them out of this disaster. “Tienés una soga?”
Sam repeated the phrase quietly. “Oh, rope.” She dug through her pack and pulled out nylon rope. “If you’re hoping to lasso your way out, I don’t think that’ll work.”
“Shut up.” Andrea grabbed the rope, stood, and tied the end into a loop. She spent the next ten minutes tossing it upward only for it to catch on a bush or branch or random roots. Each time they broke off and fell into the pit with them.
Sam sighed and gathered up several larger branches that Andrea had pulled in with them. From her pack, she plucked out a cotton shirt and wrapped it around the end as tight as she could. The lighter she used to start their fires would work well for her makeshift torch.
“¿Qué hacés?” Andrea slung the rope over her shoulder and looked pointedly at Sam’s torch. “Do you truly think that will help?”
“It’ll give us light. And I did pack a lot of shirts.” Sam held up her lighter. “Our voices are echoing, so the room likely is larger than it seems. Why not explore? Maybe there’s another way out?”
“Or we're stuck in a pit to die. Qué pelotudo de mierda,” she muttered. “Fine.” She pulled a shirt from her bag and grabbed another branch. It took her two tries to tie it, but it was far too messy. Sam handed her the already made torch and redid it herself. The tighter the cotton shirt was, the better the flames.
Redonning her pack, Sam lit the torches and pocketed the lighter. The light flickered across the ground but the darkness stayed thick. Sam took a few cautious steps out of the circle of sunlight, but her torch still didn’t cast light onto a wall. Instead the ground held odd formations. She bent and ran her fingers over the floor. “Andrea, I think this is cut stone.”
39. Wildest AU scenario you have written?
I started writing a Supercorp version of Lovecraft's A Color Out of Space because of a tumblr post of a bug in a hunter's field cam that made a deer look like it had eight eyes and six legs.
I haven't posted it to AO3 yet, mostly because I'm still writing it and plotting it out, and I don't feel confident in it yet. I had to exorcise Lovecraft's racism and homophobia and well all the -isms from the original story. Basically, I kept the plot: weird meteor lands and strange things happen, and sliced it up to fit the Supercorp world.
The tale is a slow creep horror, where at first things just seem weird. Then you realize things are just the right amount of off that you start to get nervous, until you're in too deep and realize that everything is absolutely horrifying and it's almost too late to stop it.
It's very much a mixture of Jeff Vandermeer's Southern Reach Trilogy (The first book was made into the movie Annihilation) and Hammers on Bone by Cassandra Shaw.
So yes. Supercorp Horror.
40. Write a 9-word fic.
Lena discovered a love of flight in Kara's arms.
or...
Lena's panic ended when Kara flew to her side.
or....
Kara was lost in the green of Lena's eyes.
Gosh doing just nine words is hard but kind of fun. Anyway, thank you for asking! :D

The Magnus Protocol ep 1-4 thoughts
So many spoilers for TMA and TMAGP under the cut lmfao god it's good to be back on my bullshit
FIRST SHIFT- First file? case? whatever, that's deffo this universe's anglerfish. The speaker says that something took Jacob into the shadows, and the returned Jacob's comment on being "some of him" mirrors what Sarah Baldwin said to Jon in TMA ep 96: "Some of her. Skin, a few memories. Not on the inside." Fun callback to the first episode of TMA. Second file elicits a reaction from Sam because of the mention of the Magnus Institute, so the horrible thing he's seen that was mentioned in the TMAGP interview-with-Lena trailer is likely linked to it. Also, the Magnus Institute burning down… I really hope that means this universe has a Gertrude, and she's still around. I'd also like to point out the mention of strange symbols found in the Institute. I'll talk more about this soon. Also: what or who killed redcanary? There's a part of me that wonders if there's an Archivist wandering in the tunnels beneath the institute similar to the one under Alexandria in TMA ep 53 (rc mentions spelunking specifically, not just urban exploration, which is why I think he went into the tunnels for sure.) Other notes: Teddy quit. You can quit here. That's good to know. Less comforting is that the recording of Sam and Alice in the bar sounds like it came through one of their phones- muffled and not in the office where the computer microphones can get at them. Also: Gwen Bouchard is interesting. I want to know why she's too stubborn to look for work elsewhere, as clearly she isn't wanting for money. She could have some affinity for government secrets due to some connection with the Eye, but even in TMA's universe Elias was just an upperclass meatsuit for Jonah Magnus. I'll be curious to see what unfolds.
MAKING ADJUSTMENTS- I have a hunch that Ink5oul is going to pop up again. It seems like a rich vein to plumb given how the tattoo they(she?) gave their victim and what unfolded seemed tailored to her. Plus, they were the instigator of the horror without being its focus, and they've got a big cool tattoo that will make them easy to recognize. More importantly, the victim apparently found Ink5oul when looking up symbols for a commission involving alchemy. I think alchemical symbols (or other weird occult symbolism) might crop up as a recurring motif in TMAGP, as they mentioned symbols in the Institute as well (placed there by the inhabitants or whoever started the fire?) Other notes: Alice has a brother named Luke who is part of a moderately successful band but doesn't play an instrument. I'll circle back to that.
PUTTING DOWN ROOTS- Nice gristly little (probably) Corruption linked story. Outside of the case, I like that Alice's devil-may-care attitude makes it hit harder when she tells Sam she's being serious about something. It's also kind of interesting to see that Sam gets along much better with Gwen than Alice does. I wonder if that comes from a dislike of confrontation. I'm also curious to see where this mention of redundancies goes-- it's a contrast to TMA, in which getting let go was not something they had to worry about.
TAKING NOTES- The story about the murder violin is quite clearly Slaughter, and yet the fact that it thirsts for his physical suffering as well gives a tint of Desolation over the thing, despite the lack of firey motifs. Maybe we'll get more of the gray areas between powers in TMAGP. Something I really want to speculate about though is whether someone's little brother in a band might get hold of the evil violin sometime. That would be sick. More in line with the story: Merchant immediately reminds me of both Breekon and Hope and Mikaele Salesa. We will see if he and/or his oddly shaped sack come back into things. I wonder if the sack is an artifact itself, as he sounded a little surprised by the appearance of the violin in its depths. Other notes: Interesting that the computer system (I forget how they said Freddy was 1337ed out) is dropping info for both Alice and Gwen here. I could have sworn Alice just exploited a loophole or something to find out about Sam's snooping-- except that's the exact opposite of what she's been telling him to do. And Gwen seemed like she was just doing her job when the video or audio file dropped into her workstation.
Anyways. Excited to hear the next ep tomorrow.

So, I'm not a theory gal, I'm notoriously bad at plot theories and figuring out the hints leading you to reveals/plotwists etc.
But I do have a brain who still completes a picture when he has two pieces of a whole puzzle, so here are my relationships/characters theories for the Magnus Protocol as of end of march 2024, during first hiatus, after ten episodes.
Season 1 is going to keep having three threads: Gwen&Lena, Alice/Sam/Celia(/Teddy), Colin. Gwen's journey would be about what's really up with the OIAR, of course, she's gonna be traumatized enough, but also get a weird mentorship deal with Lena that might or might not bring them closer (they're going to be HELLA SHIPPED for it) ; meanwhile, the love triangle gang is going to uncover more shit about the Magnus Institute and the Multiverse while Love Triangling ; Colin is the reason why Love Triangle gang and Gwen&Lena's plotlines are going to come all together, possibly by dying (RIP Colin, i love you, i don't want that for you) with a big finish that will reveal that 1. Celia's EVIL and/or not what she seems and/or a spy etc. Sam will be HORRIBLY BETRAYED BY THIS. But also she will have opened too many doors of knowledge for him to resist. He might not join her YET but he will. End of s1 might also be when Teddy comes back and we understand that having a job aftet the OIAR just. er. doesn't happen. ALSO Lena will either die (by Celia's hand??) or "disappear" or "Resigned" (which is the same thing) leaving Gwen UNSETTLED while GETTING WHAT SHE WANTED (Lena's job). It's not a good thing for her.
Season 2 is going to tease us with the last flames of the love triangling, before Sam ultimately ends up in Avatar deep mud and possibly Dark Path with Celia. Alice will be heartbroken but also have a personal reason to genuinely fucking care about this shit, and get pulled into OIAR proper business alongside Gwen, making them both Full Bickering ALLIES. the OIAR and the Celia's gang will have definitely a different idea of what we're meant to do with the Multiverse. JMJ. error will become proper characters who go beyond statements. Alice will hate it. Gwen will listen to it. Teddy??? Sorry Teddy we had so little of you so far, I just don't know, but I'm rooting for you. Meanwhile Sam learn about Dark Knowledge MORE (and tapes????) and go full THIS is what i was meant to do. Celia, who will have actually fallen in love with this man, will be like "don't become like me :(" but he'll go "course not (i will fix it and be better)". Big finish is ?????? again i don't KNOW i don't know about plot. But full Dark Sam would be hot.
Season 3 will be about Stopping Big Tragedy Threat, possibly killing Sam (BY ALICE'S HAND?????), and also establishing that Alice/Gwen was going to be the canonical endgame ship all along. Teddy Will SurviveTM. Celia might die. It's all sad but also there was love along the way.

Love is For Children ; Hope is For Suckers
Yelena Belova x Fem!R
Prompt | 2,084 Words
“After everything you've done, I still love you. with all I am.”
Warnings: Angst/No Happy Ending, Poison, Blood, Death
Tumblr media
"What are you doing here?" Yelena was in a state of total shock, you looked different, she admired the features of your beautiful face, and how the fresh haircut you got framed it well.
"Work," you cooly relayed, then reached out to hand her the manila folder in the hopes that the woman would take the hint and depart, because seeing her after a year hurt you far more than you thought it would, or that you'd care to admit. You've been fine, convincing yourself you were over her, but apparently not.
"I-I miss you Y/N," her tone was soft, but her words were heavy with a sense of pleading, "Please, can we try again? I want to fix us."
"There never was much of an us to start with Lena, it was a well calculated ruse that got me trapped into this lifestyle I never wanted."
——
"Don't say that!" Yelena cried out, "It was real to me Y/N, I love you, please tell me I'm not too late, we can't be over for good, please..."
"After everything you've done, I still love you. with all I am," Yelena's heart stopped at your confession, a hope that had once fizzled out began to bloom from deep within her chest. "I'm just not sure I'll ever be able to trust you again Belova." And just like that the deceiving hope died, because the damage she regretfully caused to your heart appears to be irreparable.
"For the sake of this hit succeeding I can pretend though," you shrugged your shoulders, then shoved the folder into her hand before shutting the door to your temporary room.
Yelena frowned, then walked across the hall to slam her temporary door shut. She hadn't expected to see you, well, ever again honestly. It appears that Valentina, the root of all of the blonde's heartache, had a different plan here.
"Why her?" Yelena's tone held a unmistakable edge as she spoke to your mutual former boss, and the woman on the other line giggled, "Yelena, you both still owe me a debt, so she has no choice but to be useful when I say so."
"Double mine Valentina, please, leave her be."
"This isn't a charity auction, she has two more missions, and then she's free for good."
"I hate you," Yelena growled, only to be met with a a soundboard of mocking laughter, "Yeah, until I put a fat check in your hand, then it's Valentina, who's my next hit."
"No, my debt is up after tonight Valentina, and I will not be back, you can count on that," she shouted, then instead of hanging up normally, she slammed the phone into the wall for what looked to be the same effect. "Glupaya suka."
(Stupid bitch)
The following morning came fast for the blonde who didn't get a wink of restful sleep. Her eyes never even closed, left to dry out as she stared aimlessly at the popcorn ceiling until the rising sun managed to break the precise focus she had on the bumpy top wall.
Not long after the rude awakening did her alarm go off, as she was in the shower, trying to wash away the look of exhaustion in the hopes that she'll look somewhat human again. The loud beep soured her further, no longer was she listening to the joyous tune: American Pie.
Fortunately it timed out as she was stepping out, her song now resumed as she works on drying off and stepping into her white suit. After twisting two front braids into her bun she made her way to the kitchen to down a mug of coffee with a shot of tequila mixed right in, while sloppily eating a blueberry muffin.
*Are you ready to go?*
Yelena sighed as she picked up her phone, the last thing she wanted to do was go to a party with you on her arm in a state of falsehoods.
*I'll meet you in the hotel lobby Y/N*
What the blonde wanted was your forgiveness, then after she won that she'd work towards total reunification, but as of right now it's only a fruitless dream for the heartbroken blonde.
"Did you read the files?"
"Y/N, this isn't my first hit, obviously yes."
"No need to be hostile Belova, I'm just trying to ensure that you're on your a game since I can smell the tequila on your fucking breath," you hissed at the woman you still somehow loved.
Yelena dejectedly sunk into the passenger seat, "I'm sorry Y/N, really," she muttered sadly, and you honestly felt your heart breaking.
"I know," you softly replied, your anger fizzling out just as fast as it surged, "We have to get through this event Lena, we're almost free."
Yelena nearly burst into tears at the sight of you briefly smiling at her, it was incredibly warm, and something that she dearly missed. Instead she returned the gesture and nodded.
Holding onto all this anger wasn't fair, you've been working solo for Val for over a year now, and you learned just how vindictive she can be. You'd always had a target on your back being a thrown away super soldier, the experiment was not a failure, but the rehabilitated program was thrown out when too much heat fell on the America agency running it. You were put into a witness protection of sorts, but of course the Director of the CIA would easily find you.
You knew Lena didn't want to hurt you, at first you were just a job to her, seducing you into this life was her assignment, but as she fell for you it was no longer a mark she was willing to work. She tried to undo it, but she only made it worse, and Valentina told you before she was able to, and so you are left to blame her.
Yelena even thought you hated her, but if you hated her this mission would be a walk in the park instead of a soul crushing reminder of all the good you ever had then subsequently lost.
After a few moments of silent driving you finally reached the grand ball, you pulled up in front of the massive place, handed the keys to the valet, then for the sake of appearances you rounded the car and offered Yelena your arm, "You ready to go in Mrs. Smith?"
Yelena looked at you unamused, you knew how much she hated the bland undercover names. She always used to grumble over it to you:  "Why can't we be the Bensons? Or maybe we could be the LongBottoms, you'd be Fanny!"
It always ended the same though, she'd pout, and you'd kiss her softly, but then you'd still say no. So the Smiths or Allens it usually was.
"We are too beautiful to be the Smith's," she whispered in your ear as you two entered the venue through the extensive security check. You softly giggled, and nudged her side, and for just a moment it felt like nothing changed as the blonde stared at your uplifted face.
Then it was back to business as your face neutralized while observing the room filling with people. Yelena held you even tighter when the perp was in your direct sight, she wasn't sure why, but her gut was telling her to run.
"May I have this dance?" your hand reached for hers, and she gladly accepted it, because she realized that a moment of pretend happiness was better than nothing, "Yes, but I lead."
Yelena watched your eyes narrow, but she was not going to back down, and you were not all that worried about her declaration as you let her pull your body flush against hers, and with a slow pace set you eventually waltzed around the room. Through the art of dance the two of you were actually communicating. Yelena would dip you whenever she felt the hallway was worth keeping an eye on, and she'd spin you when near the guys who were packing.
Then, in the heat of it all she kissed you, the only message relayed was one of love, and even though you were on a mission, you indulged the blonde, because your heart was fluttering in ways you never imagined it would again.
"He's on the move," you panted softly into her mouth, then you quickly dropped her hand, "Keep close, but remember, don't hover."
Yelena watched you walk in the same direction,  slipping down the same hallway, and this was the part where she had to rely on faulty comms, and your ability to knock out an entire room. This was a dance the two of you had been accustomed to, but it always left her uneasy, and as she heard your blood curdling screams through her comms she knew why that was.
It all happened so fast honestly, one second you're fighting a handful of goons without even breaking a sweat, then the sleazy guy you're after emerges from the shadows with a dark smirk, and when you saw a green vile and a needle in his hands you knew you were fucked.
The need to warn Yelena was high, but you were so paralyzed with fear, that the only warning she got was your pained response before your body slumped to the floor in a state of shock.
The men left the vile on the ground as they rushed out before Yelena could get to them. That moment came within seconds, Yelena barreled into the room with her gun at the ready, but slipping it past security was pointless because they were gone, and judging by the way your body convulsed you were next.
"Strychnine," she reads with a wobbling lip, it was a commonly used punishment back in the red room to inject the girls with this when they failed to meet Dreykov's standards. Yelena's cheeks became stained with bitter tears as the memories of watching those girls die replayed in her mind on a loop, your fate was sealed...
But you were a super soldier, so she wasn't going to just give up without a fight, her phone sat beside her running a search on how to reverse the poison while she worked to get you to wake back up, you had to wake back up.
"Y/N, detka, wake up," she tapped your cheeks, causing your slumped head to go side to side, "Please, I need you to wake up," she pleaded, hands desperately shaking your shoulders.
"Y/N, if you die, then so do I!" Yelena was desperate, so she began to attempt chest compressions, and after a second you were oddly enough, choking on air, "Okay Juliet..."
"What? No, I'm Romeo," Yelena gasps in offense at your ludicrous insinuation, "You're the clear Juliet here Y/N, moya krasavitsa."
(My beautiful girl)
"Juliet had a chance to live, and she gave it up when she saw her love laid dead beside her," you quietly reminded her, Yelena's smile was bright, but her dull eyes were unmistakable.
"Well, I was hoping I could get Romeo to safety, because I don't give up that easily."
You smiled sadly, "Hope is for suckers."
"Then a sucker I am, because I'm hopelessly in love with you, so please hold on," she admits through tears that slowly run down your arm soaking your cuff as you weakly cup her cheek.
"Love is for children, and ours was hopeless," you managed to choke out before you were actually spluttering over your own blood.
Yelena heard the sound of heels clicking from behind her, but she spared the wicked woman no glance, her eyes too fixated on your face.
Your lips were parted as tiny, short wheezes slowly left you, Yelena pressed her soft lips to your chapping set, "Mne zhal', chto ya podvel tebya," you unconsciously smiled against her in your state of delirium. "YA tebya lyublyu."
(I'm sorry I failed you / I love you)
Suddenly your lips started to lose feeling, and your body slumped into her lap, "Please, detka don't go," she whimpered, causing you to jolt back into a temporary state of consciousness as you whispered so gently that it was a struggle for her to even hear you, "I love you too Lena," and what followed your words was devastating silence, you gave your final breath for her.
An unwelcome hand gripped her shoulder, "If you want revenge for her, you'll stick with me."
Yelena nodded, then listened to the retreating click of heels, "YA ub'yu tebya tochno tak zhe."
(I will kill you just the same)

*
Rocks bite into Keelan's heels as he finishes digging the first grave. He must have left his shoes in the house, but it doesn't matter at this point. He's not going back inside for them. He climbs out of the grave and counts six paces, sticking the shovel back into the dirt to start a second grave. The light of the blue and silver moons wash over him, bathing the scene in an ethereal glow that battles the dying light of the fires. There are roots from the vineyard in the dirt where he started the second grave, and his fingers chafe along the splintering handle of the old shovel as he hacks them out of the way. It's nearing dawn by the time the second grave is finished. His fingers slip as he's climbing out, the dirt crumbling under his weight, and he slides back down into the hole. Panic claws at his throat as his fingers claw at the rocky soil until he pulls himself up the side of the grave and out into the breaking dawn.
He lays there in the morning light, tears sliding down his cheeks. His feet are bloody and his hands are a mess of splinters and blisters from digging. His chest heaves with sobs and he curls up onto his side as the sun slowly makes its way up past the horizon line, chasing away the chill of the winter night.
The loud squawk of a rooster forces Keelan out of his sobbing stupor and onto his bleeding feet. He stumbles over to where his parents are laid out in the tallgrass next to the house, collapsing to his knees next to them. His mother could be sleeping if not for the bruising around her neck. He drags her to the first grave, laying her at the bottom as gently as he can manage. Birds chirp from the trees as he covers her body with dirt, filling the grave up until there is only a churned patch of soil covering what once was his mother.
His father's nightclothes are soaked in blood that has since dried and crusted and he makes an unpleasant crunching sound when Keelan lifts his shoulders. His head flops backwards, his slit throat stretching gruesomely, and Keelan decides to drag him by the feet instead. He slides him into the second grave, broken grapevine roots catching the sleeves of his nightshirt. His father's body doesn't land neatly, instead collapsing onto his shoulder with his face pressed into the dirt at the side of the grave. Keelan reaches out with the shovel to poke him until he is at least on his back, too scared to climb into the grave again. He starts to fill in the second grave.
Sweat drips down the back of his neck. Two churned patches of soil and one shivering boy are all that is left among the bare grapevines. He drops the shovel and kneels, digging his fingers into the soft dirt of his mother's grave.
“May your journey to the world beyond be peaceful,” he chokes out, the sound of his own voice alien against his ears. “May you be remembered in your best days, and may your love live on in those who cherish your memory.” He swipes tears from his cheeks, smearing dirt across his face. “May I see you again. Gods have mercy.”
He leaves the shovel there and picks up his father's old sword, dried blood still crusting the blade. He stares at the road leading out of Leyne, then back at the ruins. The fires are almost all out, a few flames still licking hungrily at the last trees clinging to life in the sacred grove. He slides his gaze from the burned-out shell of the chapel to the walls of his house, still standing and looking as if he could walk in and find his mother at the hearth, brewing him the grapevine tea that she promised him the night before.
The hinges creak when he pushes the front door open. He walks past the bodies on the floor, past the severed head laying next to the hearth, and picks up the flint and steel.
The last living boy of Leyne walks out of what once was his home, never once looking back at the flames.

Magdalena wasn't sure what to do with herself. She'd never been to a party without one of her Kook friends by her side. There was no Kelce or Topper to hide behind, and Manny had disappeared into the crowd thirty minutes ago. Sarah was with Topper which stung like a knife to the back, even though it wasn't her betrayal to feel.
She was wandering around aimlessly, fruitlessly searching for anyone she knew when she heard, "Lena? ¿Qué pasa?"
She turned to her right and Edgar was on the ground, staring up at her. If she didn't know him, she would've thought he was drunk.
"Why are you on the ground, Eddie?" she asked, walking over to him.
He hummed, patting the grind beside him, inviting her to sit. "Me duelen las piernas."
"You know I'm not fluent," she reminded, sitting next to him and throwing her legs over his stomach, and he grabbed her hand, pressing a kiss to the back of her hand.
"My legs hurt," he said. "And Manny was supposed to bring me a soda fifteen minutes ago but he hasn't come back, so I just laid down here."
She laughed. "You know him. They probably got distracted."
He nodded, an amused smile on his lips. Beginning to play with her rings, he asked, "D'you know where JJ is? Or Pope?"
She shook her head.
He groaned. "I wanna make one of them carry me."
Laughing again, she peeled her hand away from his to grab her phone. "I'll send a SOS text to the group chat."
"I love you," he said, completely serious.

Magdalena turned back to Edgar, who was starting to doze off. "Your boyfriend is coming."
"Yay," he said, through a yawn, "I love my boyfriend."
+
Five minutes later, JJ appeared out of thin air, holding a red solo cup and an unopened can of root beer.
He looked down at them, with Magdalena's legs still on Edgar's torso and Edgar falling asleep in the grass. "You look like you're having so much fun."
Even through his sleepiness, Edgar lit up like a Christmas tree. "Mi salvador," he said, breathlessly.
JJ sent Magdalena a confused look. "W'sat mean?"
"Savior," she said, eighty percent sure that she was right.
JJ melted like a popsicle. "Oh," he said with a lovesick smile.
"Jay, can we go home? I'm so tired," Edgar whined. He turned himself to sit up with a grunt, dropping Magdalena's legs into his lap.
JJ laughed. "You're such a baby." He wordlessly handed over the root beer, and sent him a smile. "And we gotta find JB to see if he's ready. And everyone else."
Edgar groaned, throwing his head back. "That's so annoying."
Obviously enamored, if his heart eyes meant anything, JJ reached out for his hand. "C'mon, crybaby. I'll carry you so we can go sit in The Twinkie."
Magdalena moved her legs so he could help Edgar get to his feet.
"You coming, Mags?" he asked, once Edgar was holding onto his back like a baby koala. Edgar rested his chin on his shoulder before yawning yet again. "Why're you so tired?"
"We did so much today! And you know I wake up incredibly early!" Edgar grumbled. JJ pressed a kiss to his cheek, trying to appease him.
"Yeah, I'm coming," Magdalena said as she stood.
As they walked back into the crowd, Edgar immediately beginning to doze off, she said, "How do you know what to do?"
JJ turned to her. "With Eds? He's not hard to handle."
She laughed. "No, I mean, at parties. I've never.. actually had fun at one before."
"That's depressing," he said, sending her a concerned look. "You weren't down with the Kook pool parties and shit?"
She shrugged. "None of it ever felt.. real? I don't know. Like all those people I thought were my friends, I can't tell you a single thing about them."
"Well, fuck 'em. You got us now," JJ said, grinning down at her.
"Oy!" Manny shouted, running at them with four cans of soda in his hands. "We're carrying people?"
"Me duelen las piernas," Edgar said, half asleep.
Frowning, Manny replied, "Oh, you want me to rub 'em for you?"
JJ shot them a venomous look. "Keep your hands to yourself."
With a laugh, they held their hands up in surrender. Well, as much as they could with the soda cans. He turned to Magdalena with a grin. "Lemme carry you, princesa."
"You're going to drop all your soda," she said, a laugh of her own bubbling out of her mouth.
They instantly let go of the cans, making her cackle with delight. He was the most ridiculous person she'd ever met.
Distracted by her laughter, she wasn't paying attention, and that was when he lifted her up, carrying her bridal style.
"Ah! Manny, put me down!" she shouted, breathless as she continued to laugh.
"Never! It's the least I could do for you! You're in heels!"

TES Fest - Free Day
There were a few days I missed during TES Fest because the ideas never made it from my head to the page (something that I'm a bit frustrated about; but June and July were Weird months, so one must cut oneself some slack).
So for the Free Day, I thought I'd share the rough synopsis of what they should have been. Maybe one day I'll manage to write them.
5 Aug - Beast - Modern AU I didn't have any inspiration for this one, except that it had to feature Pelagius, be slightly fluffier than the others, and illustrate his thrill-seeking behaviour.
8 Aug - Mortal - Modern AU, Post Crisis A trigger makes Baragon relive the moment the Mythic Dawn attacked Enman Septim's household, and the young man who gave his life for Baragon's. Aderyn shows up at his doorstep because she's injured herself, and while fixing her up, Baragon lays into her about being more careful. She doesn't understand why he's being more vehement than usual; the stoic Baragon opens up and explains.
9 Aug - Spiritual Ties - Devotion - Modern AU, Early Crisis Martin (Anglican) stumbles into the chapel at Cloud Ruler while Cyrus (Muslim) praying. They parallel-pray together, then have a short discussion about the Crisis and faith, with Cyrus offering words of comfort to the displaced Martin.
10 Aug - Blood - Modern AU, Post Crisis Martin has been invited to open the new Horticultural dept of a University, when it's attacked by eco-terrorists. Martin and half the Blades make it out, but Steffan, Roliand, and Aderyn do not. Roli and Aderyn manage to hide themselves as part of the crowd in what becomes a hostage situation, but Steffan stands out too much. The Terrorists' ire at missing their chance with Martin is redirected on Steffan - to near lethal results. Aderyn and Roli bicker briefly about what to do; Aderyn wins. She outs herself as Martin's 'daughter' and convinces the Terrorists to let everyone go but her. Roli stays with her, and they get to the root of the issue. While they're still on the inside, those on the outside are making furious phone calls to verify if what the Terrorists are accusing is true; and - because Roli and Aderyn's lives depend on it - fix it.
11 Aug - For Love and Honour - Sword - Modern AU, Post Crisis The crew go to a reenactment event, where there is an attempted kidnapping of Lena - Martin's PA and Caroline's girlfriend. The attempt is thwarted by our heroes, and Caroline looks damned good while playing Knight Errant.

Found a tall afra body for Lena, they have smaller neck holes so it was a struggle until I remembered i have wirecutters and can trim that anchor to be a smaller disc, i'd prefer a curvy but the diversity in sizes makes them look like friends or sisters.
Cherry Merry muffin cracked open: kiwi was not the right choice of fiber for aged vinyl despite the nice pastels. The white is nylon and it's got a teensy bit more grip in each head hole. I'm stuck, my first thought was new hairline but that didn't work out for my last two kiwi headcracks. No idea how to proceed short of finding exact nylon matches later when I have some hobby money for supplies.
Daya is rocking the granddad hairdo as I didn't have the patience tonight to realign the coral nylon that got misaligned during the dyeing and washing process.
So new project it is! Because juggling 20 different projects at once is actually the only way you're going to find one that fits your particular brain mood of the moment, provided you don't have a cascading error message when you attempt to figure which one to go with.😂
Marinette is a clone with thin vinyl, she was only rooted round the edges when she arrived so she gets her front lines first so we can tell if she's going to break before there's a whole head of work.
A lot of people like to start with the front first, it allows you to visualize the final product from early on. I like to start at the second line in back so I can establish a sense of what spacing, plug size and pressure works best in an area that won't be visible if it's a little ugly.
Sometimes a head lends itself well to circle patterning (Licca with a tiny pencil in her neck rotates nicely on your workspace) othertimes the parting first then a front to back series of lines and then detailing for the 'corners' and first line.
There's no right or wrong way to proceed: it's all about finding small victories like in finishing the circle on the back of Barbie's head for example and balancing that with what's a comfortable position to work in while keeping the head in place. If that takes drawing arbitrary pencil lines or a 40min podcast episodes worth as goals for the day and you manage just one: Do It.
Arts and crafts that you can't totally zone out for are all about managing the tedium with made up goals and rewards.
You're not supposed to endure it and if the tedium and focus is too much then it's fine to find a craft that better suits you. I know folks who make amazing stuff from the enjoyment of making one crochet square or circle at a time, one japanese folded silk patch at a time then bringing it all together into a garment or quilt once they've done a large amount.
