The Gift
Tumblr media
Summary: Out of nowhere, your husband receives a gift from you.
A/N: This came to me last night after thinking of what type of mail people receive. Here's one I hope you enjoy.
------------------------------
The Owl Postal Service in Hogwarts was, if not, consistent in their delivery time.
This time being, the hour after breakfast started for everyone to ensure that no disruptions, except important missives, were to be received during class hours.
Your tawny barn owl sailed through the Great Hall, over the heads of students and staff, and landed on the High Table in front of its’ intended recipient, your husband, their dark and grumpy Potions Professor, Severus Snape.
It was uncommon for the Potions’ Professor to receive anything but Potions’ ingredients, his usual Potions’ Journal subscription, or official mail either from the Ministry or the Order so the package, a neatly wrapped gift in royal green paper, silver ribbon, and a tag attached, accompanied by a letter in your distinct handwriting was bound to attract attention.
“Is there a special occasion?” the Headmaster’s eyes twinkled upon the sight of the young Potions’ Master quite confused,
“No,” Severus answered, “Not that I know of,”
His thoughts a mile a minute through his brain, slowly, internally panicking. His eyes locked at the present in front of him. Did he forget YOUR birthday? God no, you’d thoroughly celebrated every time the day came around. Did he forget his birthday? Did he forget an anniversary? Did he forget a muggle holiday that you loved to celebrate? No, so what was this doing here?
“It’s wrapped beautifully,” Minerva remarked, from across Dumbledore, “Will you open it?”
He does. First, the letter.
“Sev,” your voice echoed through his brain, “I know you’re probably trying to think of any reason why I would send a gift to you on a normal day.”
You know him far too well.
“Just stop. Do I need a reason to send a gift to the one I love when I feel like it?” a soft smile slowly formed on his lips as he read that line, his colleagues’ interest piqued at the change, “It’s from our holiday and other events, I hope you like it. I know I did. I love you, I’ll see you when I get home,”
Your letter was swiftly tucked in his robes after then taking the package from your owl. Severus proffered a treat for them, and they happily ate before it perched itself on his shoulder. His hands gently tugged on the silver to unwrap the gift.
His initials and yours, on the cover of a leather-bound enchanted photo album.
On the first page of your story, the title page, if the album was a muggle document, was a candid photo from your most recent vacation. Your arms wrapped around his. His figure was behind yours in a hug. Your faces were engulfed in laughter after a guide failed to land a joke against him.
“Oh,” Severus whispered, Your gift was amazing. How did he get so lucky to deserve you?
“That’s a rare sight,” Filius said, by his right, “Severus smiling and speechless,”
“She’s beautiful, Severus,” Albus complimented,
“We look forward to meeting her,” Minerva said,
Their words fell on deaf ears.
Beneath the photo album, in a frame, there was another photo of the both of you from afar. This moment was captured by a charmed camera that you didn’t even know was there until after it happened. In the wilds of Wizarding Britain, on your first date, underneath the stars, he’d kissed the back of your hand, admitted his affections, and asked if he could kiss you. To which you shyly agreed, and received the sweetest kiss you’d ever experienced.
This he could place on his desk. The others were not up for public consumption.
“If you’ll excuse me, Professors, I must send a response,”

Israel’s war on Gaza has officially surpassed 100 days, leaving the besieged enclave a shadow of its former self, filled with death, displacement, starvation, and despair.   At least 44 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombardment so far on Monday, including 33 people in southern Khan Younis and 12 people in a residential building in northern Gaza City, Al Jazeera reported.  Dozens of others have been injured and are left with extremely limited treatment options in Gaza as a result of Israel’s attacks on healthcare.
The World Health Organization (WHO) visited Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza and the Nasser Hospital in southern Khan Younis to call for the protection of health centers. Following the visit, WHO learned patients are fleeing out of fear, and the number of medical staff is low at Al-Aqsa Hospital. At Nasser Hospital, the group documented a shortage of beds, with 700 patients on the premises along with about 7,000 internally displaced Palestinians.  “These facilities require sustained support and protection to remain operational. The increased hostilities in the south of the Strip are making it difficult for aid to reach them,” WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said.
“In Gaza, the health care system is on the brink of collapse. In any conflict or crisis, access to health care is a question of life or death,” International Federation of the Red Cross Secretary-General Jagan Chapagain said on X. “Civilian population in Gaza have suffered enough, and healthcare is one of the last remaining beacons of hope. It’s a humanitarian and moral imperative to ensure the people of Gaza can access health care,” Chapagain continued.
Similarly, Dr. Mads Gilbert, a physician who worked in Gaza for more than 20 years, told Al Jazeera, “It is a horrible situation. The healthcare capacity is not sufficient at all to handle this massive number of 61,000 injured. They are lacking everything; they don’t have antibiotics, anesthetics, IV fluids.”
In the north, the mayor of Gaza City has reported it hasn’t received “one drop of fuel” in months, and in the south, hospitals are overwhelmed with the wounded. “This is a systematic man-made disaster. This is planned and executed by the Israeli government with the full support from the U.S. It’s the worst man-made medical disaster in modern history,” Gilbert said.
UNOCHA has said Israeli denials of access for humanitarian missions have increased since the beginning of 2024, with only about 24 percent of planned humanitarian deliveries to northern Gaza reaching their destinations in the first weeks of the year. Similarly, Diaa Rashwan, the chairman of Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) says Israel is the sole cause of the lack of aid entering Gaza through Rafah and other border crossings. Rashwan added that the Rafah crossing hasn’t been closed “for a single moment” on the Egyptian side. At the same time, Israeli authorities deliberately disrupted or delayed the entry of aid “under the pretext of inspecting it.” “Throughout these 100 days, has been the stubbornness and intentionality of the occupying Israeli authorities, at other Gaza Strip crossings, delaying the inspection of aid before allowing its passage to the Palestinian side, by virtue of its military control over the territory of the Gaza Strip,” he was quoted as saying in an SIS post on Facebook, as cited by Al Jazeera.
The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has said that “the massive destruction, displacement, hunger and loss of last 100 days are staining our shared humanity”. “The humanitarian operation has become one of the most complex and challenging in the world, the continued, “due to the tight siege on the Gaza Strip, the aid delivered is not nearly enough to meet people’s needs, it said.

“War On Gaza: The Illegal Regime of Apartheid and Terrorist Isra-hell's Food-Queue Slaughter Cannot Go Unpunished”
Autocratic governments around the world will be emboldened if Israel escapes punishment for killing over 100 desperate, starving people as they waited for aid in Gaza
— Othman Moqbel | 5 March 2024 | Middle East Eye
Tumblr media
People mourn following an early morning incident when residents rushed toward aid trucks in Gaza City on 29 February, 2024 (AFP)
If hungry people in Ukraine had been shot at and killed while queuing for food, the West would have rightly called it a war crime.
Likewise, if troops opened fire in Syria, the US and UK would rightly condemn it as another atrocity committed in this context.
However, when people are queuing for food in Gaza - where the UN has warned of the worst famine it has ever recorded - the US instead noted it would "complicate peace talks".
Early on 29 March, starving Palestinians were queueing for long-awaited deliveries of food in Gaza City’s al-Rasheed Street when Israeli forces opened fire on them. According to Gaza health officials, a minimum of 112 people were killed and 280 injured, the majority of whom appear to have been shot.
Fares Afana, head of the ambulance service at Gaza's Kamal Adwan Hospital, said medics found “dozens or hundreds” of bodies lying on the ground once they reached the scene. He said some wounded had to be carried to hospitals on donkey carts as there were not enough ambulances to take all the dead and wounded.
There are counterclaims that only a small group were fired upon and the majority were killed in the crush from the resulting panic - caused by the shooting. Either way, people would not have died if desperately hungry people had not been fired upon while queuing for food.
youtube
Inhumanity At Its Worst
This is a war crime and a crime against humanity.
There is not one single document that sets out international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL), but a series of internationally recognised treaties, customs, conventions and standards.
In every iteration of these, it is made unequivocally clear that people in conflict must be allowed to receive aid, aid distributions must not be targeted by military action and civilians must not be targeted by military action.
The West cannot morally continue to shy away from highlighting violations of the rights of people impacted by conflict, whether it is in Ukraine, Syria, or, as it was on Thursday, in Gaza.
Another violation of IHL and IHRL is when a military actor stops a population from receiving the basic human right of food, causing widespread hunger and starvation.
This is another accusation that has been made during the ongoing assault on Gaza, not least by the UN special rapporteur on the right to food. Is it not even more cruel and heartbreaking that people in Gaza, driven to record levels of hunger so they queue en masse for any food aid so as not to die of starvation, are shot at and killed while queuing?
As someone who for decades has been working in humanitarian emergencies and conflicts, while at the same time witnessing inhumanity at its worst, I am not sure I have seen a more horrendous atrocity committed in my lifetime.
There is no way to look at Thursday’s events without calling it what it is - a war crime and a crime against humanity. And the simple reason it is not being called what it is, is political. However, there is nothing political about the killing of innocent civilians.

A wounded man rests on a mattress on the floor of al-Shifa Hospital following the Israeli attack on Gazans waiting for aid (Mohammed al-Hajjar/MEE)
Rafah Incursion
The US secretary of defence himself has confirmed that over 25,000 women and children have been killed thus far in Palestine, in just five months.
On 10 March, many people around the globe will celebrate Mother’s Day - yet in Gaza, so many children have lost their mothers and so many mothers have lost their children due to this brutal conflict.
Another milestone is the start of the holy month of Ramadan, a time when the majority of Gazans will fast, pray and take part in spiritual reflection, self-improvement and devotion.
However, Benny Gantz, an Israeli war cabinet member, has warned that Rafah could face a ground incursion at the start of Ramadan, which the entire world - including Israel's partners in Washington - have warned against due to the likelihood of widespread civilian casualties.
If this comes to pass, the horrors of Thursday will be repeated again and again. One of the most densely populated areas of the world will become a theatre of war, which will mean more civilian deaths and life-destroying injuries.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If firing upon starving people queuing for food goes unchallenged and unpunished by the international community, what incentive is there for military actors to spare civilian lives in a ground assault on Rafah?
Why are governments around the world still supplying the arms to Israel to carry out these suspected atrocities instead of giving money to aid human life in Gaza?
For those of us observing Ramadan this year, and those of us who are not, we must support the people of Gaza all we can and we must pray for an end to the atrocities committed against them.
We must also pray that parties who have committed violations of international humanitarian and human rights law will be brought to account.
If they are not, what is to stop military actors from abusing civilian populations like this in all future conflicts across the world?
These injustices need addressing - not just for the people of Gaza, but for all humanity.

One Month after the ICJ Order, Israel Continues its 142 Days-Long Genocide on Gaza
26 February 2024
Short Link:
https://www.mezan.org/en/post/46388
On 26 January 2024, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) determined the plausibility that Israel is carrying out genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and ordered Israel to:
prevent the commission of genocidal acts
prevent and punish public incitement to genocide
ensure aid and services reach Palestinians
submit a report to the ICJ within one month of the order on measures taken to give effect of the above.
In the month since the ICJ ruling, Israel has continued its genocidal military campaign on Gaza with intense bombardment and attacks from air, land, and sea, resulting in the killing of 3,524 Palestinians and the injury of 5,266 others,[1] and ongoing mass displacement and destruction. Israeli officials have further continued to show their intent to commit genocide, including with plans to conduct a ground invasion into Rafah, where 1.5 million Palestinians are displaced. The delivery of aid has declined since the Court ruling, as Israel escalated its delegitimization campaign against UNRWA. Meanwhile, Israel continues to deliberately attack hospitals, pushing the health sector out of service, while using starvation as a weapon of war.
This brief outlines key violations of the ICJ provisional measures over the past month, based on preliminary reports:
Ongoing Genocidal Acts - Killings
Since the ICJ’s ruling one month ago, Israel killed around 3,524 Palestinians, and wounded 5,266 others,[2]bringing the total number of killings since 7 October 2023 to around 29,692, including at least 12,500 children, and the injuries to 69,879.
On 17 February, Israeli warplanes and warships carried dozens of airstrikes, targeting at least 15 homes, two mosques, and agricultural lands in Rafah. The attack resulted in the killing of 83 Palestinians, including 27 children, amongst them displaced Palestinians who were sleeping in their tents, and 125 others were injured.[3]
An audio recording by the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) documents the moments an Israeli tank massacred a family in their car. A two-hour distress call from six-year-old Hind to PRCS captured her terrified with the bodies of her uncle, aunt and four cousins beside her. Hind went missing for 12 days and her body was found alongside two PRCS members in their ambulance “on their approved mission” to rescue her.
On 13 February, a handcuffed Palestinian detainee, Jamal Al-Deen Mohammed Abu Al-Ola, dressed in white PPE was sent by Israeli forces to the besieged Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis to deliver a message to those at the hospital to evacuate. As he was walking outside the hospital, still inside the gates, he was killed by an Israeli soldier in front of his mother.[4] The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that Israeli snipers killed another three Palestinians at the Hospital on the same day.
Two human rights defenders were killed along with their families by Israeli airstrikes. On 20 February, an Israeli airstrike killed Nour Abu Al-Nour, lawyer at the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), alongside seven of her family members including her two-year-old daughter, in her family’s home in Rafah. On 22 February, Dana Yaghi, also a lawyer at the Women's Rights Unit at PCHR, was killed along with at least 40 others, the majority of whom are from her family, in her family’s house in Deir Al- Balah. Both houses were targeted on top of the residents' heads without any prior warning.
Israel has continued its systematic targeting of journalists to suppress the truth and silence its witnesses. The Committee to Protect Journalists reported that in the first 10 weeks of its genocide on Gaza, Israel killed more journalists than any other army or entity has in any single year. Since the Court ruling, Israeli forces have killed twelve journalists, four of them on the same day, increasing the number of Palestinian journalists killed since 7 October to 132. According to the International Federation of Journalists, almost one in ten Gaza-based journalists have been killed by the Israeli forces.
A mass grave was found in the northern Gaza Strip, where at least 30 Palestinian bodies were found dead, handcuffed and blindfolded. The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an investigation into accusations that Israeli forces executed prisoners “in the most horrific forms.”
The bodies of around 100 Palestinians have been recovered after Israeli forces withdrew from the Tal al-Hawa and Remal neighborhoods in Gaza City.
Ongoing Genocidal Acts - Causing Serious Bodily or Mental Harm
On 19 February, UN experts called out cases of violence, severe beating, torture, degrading treatment, including sexual violence, and reported cases of rape and threats of rape by Israeli forces against Palestinian women and girls in Gaza.
Israeli soldiers have continued to film themselves as they torture and subject Palestinian detainees to degrading and inhuman treatment. A video shows an Israeli soldier coercing blindfolded detainees into pledging themselves as slaves. Israeli soldier Yosi Gamzoo published a video, which he later deleted, showing him interrogating a Palestinian detainee, handcuffed and stripped down to his underwear, and sitting on a chair, with signs of torture on his body and a wound in his thigh. The same soldier posted another video, showing hundreds of Palestinian detainees in Gaza’s Yarmouk stadium. Most of them were stripped down to their underwear, with some blindfolded and kneeling in rows, under the watch of Israeli soldiers. Three blindfolded women are also shown in the video, kneeling behind a football goal.
Over the past month, Palestinians in Gaza released from Israeli detention have shared harrowing accounts of torture, beatings, starvation, humiliation and abuse by Israeli soldiers. PCHR has been able to obtain tens of shocking testimonies from released detainees from Gaza providing insight into the torture and inhumane treatment that they have been subjected to by the Israeli forces. Among the documented cases were a journalist, a human rights defender, a paramedic, a worker and a woman. It should be noted that as of the date publishing this brief, the fate, conditions, and whereabouts and wellbeing of hundreds of Palestinian detainees remain unknown as Israel continues to disclose any information or allow lawyers or families to visit them.
Ongoing Genocidal Acts - Forcible Transfer and Inflicting Conditions of Life to Bring about Physical Destruction:
Over the past month, Israel has intensified its attacks on the health sector in Gaza, including hospitals and medical teams. Between 7 October and 12 February, there were 378 attacks on health care across Gaza, affecting 98 health facilities and 98 ambulances. As of 22 February, there are no fully functional hospitals in Gaza, with 12 of the 36 hospitals only partially functional.
Israel has imposed a siege on the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis for over a month. This has included Israeli forces firing at and killing people in the hospital’s vicinity and in the hospital’s yard. On 9 February, Israeli snipers killed at least 21 Palestinians near the vicinity of the besieged Hospital, with medical staff among those targeted. On the same day, a nurse was shot by an Israeli sniper while inside the operating room. On 12 February, Israeli forces killed seven Palestinians and injured 14 in the courtyard of the hospital. Israeli forces have issued warnings to evacuate everyone from the hospital since 13 February. On 13 February, footage showed thousands sheltering inside the hospital, forced to evacuate. On 15 February, Israeli military shelled the hospital’s orthopedic department, snipers surrounding the hospital opened fire at displaced people, while Israeli forces stormed the hospital, ordering everyone inside to head to Rafah. Footage shows smoke and chaos in the hospital’s corridors where gunshots can be heard. Israeli forces further targeted fleeing people on the passage it designated as safe, injuring many. Moreover, Israeli forces arrested 70 medical and administrative personnel. On 18 February, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that the Nasser hospital is not functional anymore. As of 23 February, around 140 patients, their families and healthcare workers remained in the hospital, as hundreds of patients and staff had been relocated to a building in the hospital. The hospital has no electricity, sufficient food and water, has sewage water flooding, medical waste accumulating, and the decomposing bodies of eight ICU patients who died for lack of oxygen. It has been reported that Israel’s attack on the hospital ended on 22 February.[5]
Al Amal Hospital in Khan Younis, run by the PRCS, continues to be besieged and under Israeli attack for over a month. On 30 January, Israel raided the hospital demanding staff and displaced people taking refuge there to evacuate at gunpoint. Israeli forces also killed two PRCS staff members near the hospital. The besieged hospital has been pushed out of service. The PRCS reported the displacement of around 8,000 internally displaced persons from the hospital on 5 February because of the continued bombardment around the hospital. In a ten-hour raid on the hospital on 9 February, Israeli forces damaged the hospital’s property, humiliated and beat and interrogated the staff, before arresting eight PRCS team members from the hospital, as well as four patients and five patients’ companions. On 17 February, PRCS published images showing signs of torture of two doctors detained the week before. As of 21 February, seven PRCS staff members continue to be detained by Israeli forces. PRCS continues to report ongoing artillery shelling of the hospital leading to major damage to its facilities. On 22 February, PRCS reported that its VHF system, which is the core system for communication with all PRCS field teams, was disabled as a result of Israeli shelling in the vicinity of Al Amal Hospital. The hospital faces a lack of fuel reserves to generate electricity for high-risk patients and a near exhaustion of food supplies.
As of 9 February, Al Shifaa Hospital in Gaza city had again reverted to only minimal functionality, following days of intense Israeli attacks in its vicinity. Dr Mohammad Abu Silmiyeh, the Director of Al Shifaa Hospital was subjected to torture in his detention. He was beaten, kept naked for prolonged periods of time, subjected to degrading and dehumanizing treatment and both of his hands were broken.[6] Dr. Silmiyeh’s fate and whereabouts remain unknown.
On 26 January, Israel ordered Khan Younis residents to evacuate to the Al Mawasi area. Again, on 29 January, Israel ordered several neighborhoods in Gaza City to evacuate towards the south. This area included around 88,000 displaced Palestinains who are being forcibly displaced again. On 20 February, Israel ordered residents of two specific areas of Gaza city to evacuate to the Al Mawasi area in Khan Younis.
Since the ICJ ruling, Israeli officials have been preparing for a ground invasion into Rafah. There are now around 1.5 million Palestinians in Rafah, most of whom have been internally displaced since 7 October, “crammed amid insecurity and acute shortages of shelter, food, clean water, and medical care”. Despite international condemnations including by states, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and another request to the ICJ by South Africa, over the anticipated ground offensive in Rafah, Israel has vowed to go ahead with its ground offensive. In an overnight bombardment on 12 February, Israeli strikes killed 67 Palestinians and wounded dozens in Rafah. Intensified airstrikes on Rafah have forced the displacement of people toward Deir al Balah.
On 4 February, OCHA reported that 2.2 million people in Gaza are at imminent risk of famine. Of those, 378,000 people are enduring an extreme lack of food, starvation and exhaustion of coping capacities and 939,000 people are at emergency levels. On 12 February, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN said: “Every day, more and more people are on the brink of famine-like conditions…There are unprecedented levels of acute food insecurity, hunger, and near-famine-like conditions in Gaza”. In a 19 February footage, thousands of Palestinians in Gaza City are seen running to get food assistance on the back of trucks as Israeli forces open fire on them. On 22 February, Save the Children reported that families are forced to “forage for scraps or food left by rats and eating leaves out of desperation to survive,” amid rapidly declining aid supplies.
The catastrophic levels of famine are intensifying across Gaza, with rising risk of hunger-induced deaths, especially in northern Gaza. On 11 February, Anera highlighted that “in the tragic circumstances of starvation in Gaza, there’s a compounding issue: many who perish from starvation-related symptoms aren’t accurately documented. Their deaths often get attributed to other physical causes, masking the true toll of starvation.”
On 13 February, UNRWA reported outbreaks of hepatitis A, and alarmingly high rates of diarrhea in Rafah, which can be deadly if there is not enough clean water. WHO reported that between 16 October and 13 February 2024, there have been 312,693 reported cases of acute respiratory infections, 222,620 cases of acute watery diarrhea, 74,712 cases of scabies and lice, 49,052 cases of skin rashes, 6,625 cases of chickenpox and 8,829 cases of acute jaundice.
No access to clean drinking water in the northern governorates.
Ongoing Genocidal Acts - Imposing measures intended to prevent births
In November, the UN reported that 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza risk safe baby delivery, maternal deaths, miscarriages, stillbirths and premature births as a result of malnutrition, lack of access to healthcare and basic services and ongoing displacement. The situation has only worsened since then with the direct attack on Gaza’s health system and the use of starvation as a weapon of war. On 16 February, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women said: “When mothers have to bury at least 7,700 children, and 5,500 women don’t know if they will be able to deliver their children safely within next month, very [human rights] basic principles are challenged.”
On 16 February, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) highlighted that 500,000 cases of communicable disease have been reported across Gaza, emphasizing the particular impact on women. The UN agency said: “women are reportedly miscarrying at a higher rate than before the war, and in many cases, Cesarean sections, amputations and other surgeries are being performed with partial anesthesia due to a lack of supplies. Everyone in Gaza is hungry, including 50,000 pregnant women, with malnutrition making them more susceptible to disease and less able to recover.” UNFPA warned: “If the bombs don’t kill pregnant women, if disease, hunger and dehydration don’t catch up with them, simply giving birth could.”
On 19 February UNICEF reported “a steep rise in malnutrition among children and pregnant and breastfeeding women in the Gaza Strip” especially in the north, adding that 95% of pregnant and breastfeeding women face severe food poverty. The agency added: “the Gaza Strip is poised to witness an explosion in preventable child deaths which would compound the already unbearable level of child deaths in Gaza. If the conflict doesn’t end now, children’s nutrition will continue to plummet, leading to preventable deaths or health issues which will affect the children of Gaza for the rest of their lives and have potential intergenerational consequences.
Disrupting Humanitarian Aid
Israel has hindered access to humanitarian workers and delivery of aid into Gaza.
On 12 February, the WHO stated that humanitarian aid provided so far to Gaza is “a drop in the ocean of need which continues to grow every day”. UN Secretary-General Guterres said he is worried about deteriorating conditions faced by aid delivery workers in Gaza, where convoys have sometimes come under fire from Israeli forces.
Less aid has gone daily into Gaza as compared to the average daily trucks entering Gaza before 26 January. Before 7 October, the average number of trucks that entered Gaza each day was around 500. For the weeks between 12-25 January, 156 trucks entered daily on average. For the weeks between 26 January and 8 February, 134 trucks entered Gaza daily on average. Aid delivery has continued to decline for the weeks between 9-22 February to 55 daily trucks on average.
The denial of aid delivery to northern Gaza is particularly alarming. According to OCHA, between 1 January and 15 February, less than 20% of aid missions to the north of Wadi Gaza were facilitated by the Israeli authorities and 51% were denied. UNRWA reported that the last time it was able to deliver food aid to northern Gaza was on 23 January.ù
On 20 February, the World Food Program said they are pausing the delivery of assistance to Northern Gaza “until safe conditions are in place for our staff and the people we are trying to reach”.
Right after the ICJ ordered Israel to ensure that basic services and humanitarian aid reach Palestinians, Israel alleged that UNRWA employees had been involved in the October 7 attack. Following this, 18 states have suspended their donations to the agency. The Israeli Housing and Construction Minister Goldknopf instructed the Israel Land Authority to immediately cancel all lease agreements with UNRWA and evict it from its main headquarters in Jerusalem. On 11 February, UNRWA chief said the agency is facing growing administrative hurdles from Israel, with a shipment amounting to a month's supply of food blocked.
During the past month, Israelis have protested to block humanitarian aid trucks entering Gaza at Karem Abu Salem crossing.
Israel’s targeting of civilian police is hampering aid delivery.
Israel has continued its targeting of humanitarian aid trucks. On 5 February, Israeli forces fired on a UN convoy carrying vital food supplies in Central Gaza before ultimately blocking trucks from progressing to the northern part of the territory, despite the UN and Israel agreeing on the convoy’s route. As a result, much of the convoy’s contents, mainly wheat flour, were destroyed.
Incidents of the targeting of Palestinians as they wait for humanitarian aid convoys continue to be reported in Gaza city. On 19 February, five Palestinians were killed by Israeli quadcopters while they were gathering for a possible delivery of humanitarian aid at Al Kuwaiti roundabout. On 18 February, at least one Palestinian was killed and others injured when a group that was waiting for relief aid at Al-Nabulsi roundabout was shot at.
Public Incitement to Genocide
No charges were pressed against any public official for public incitement to genocide.
On 28 January, 11 Israeli ministers and 15 members of the Knesset attended a conference in Jerusalem, titled “Settlements Bring Security” calling for re-building Jewish-only settlements in Gaza and the displacement of Palestinians. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, declared: “God willing, we will settle and we will be victorious.” National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir told the audience that it was “time to return home to Gush Katif” — the name of the illegal Israeli settlement bloc built in Gaza and dismantled in 2005. Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi called for building settlements in Gaza and “encouraging voluntary emigration.”
Commenting on the ground invasion in Rafah, Prime Minister Netanyahu said on 11 February: “We’re going to do it. We’re going to get the remaining Hamas terrorist battalions in Rafah, which is the last bastion, but we’re going to do it…We’ve so far succeeded and we are going to succeed again. Those who say that under no circumstances should we enter Rafah are basically saying lose the war.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s Foreign Minister Katz, arguing that Israel respects international law said: “Calls to limit Israel’s defense only strengthen Hamas. Rest assured, Israel is resolute in its mission to dismantle Hamas.”
Israeli Minister of Finance Smotrich said “American pressure or fear of harming civilians should not deter us from occupying Rafah and destroying Hamas.”
Smotrich further said he has decided to block the transfer of food assistance to Gaza.
On 13 February, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli military Herzi Halevi said his forces have carried out “very high military achievements” in in Gaza but there is “a long way to go...In the past decades, there has not been an army that maneuvered in an area that is urban and dense…IDF soldiers are dealing with this with great success and the military achievements are extraordinary.”
On 12 February, during a cabinet meeting, Ben-Gvir demanded the military shoot Palestinian women and children in Gaza.
During a Knesset debate on 19 February, May Golan, Israel’s Minister for the Advancement of Women, expressed pride in the “ruins” of besieged Gaza and said: “We are not ashamed to say that we want to see Israeli soldiers, the holy heroes of ours, catching Sinwar and his terrorists by their ears and dragging them all across the Gaza Strip on their way to the dungeons of the Prison Authority.. Or in the best case scenario to a coffin. I am personally proud of the ruins of Gaza, and that every baby, even 80 years from now, will tell their grandchildren what the Jews did…Not a dove, and not an olive branch, only a sword to cut off Sinwar’s head.”

I haven’t been able to stop thinking of a sitcom-style office AU featuring the AC ladies and a superb supporting cast, so I need to share:
Kassandra spends most of her time flirting with the pretty interns, getting next to no work done. But she’s invaluable when tough clients have meetings in the building and they need someone charismatic to diffuse any tricky situations, so they keep her around.
Alkibiades is the receptionist who has slept with many delivery couriers who drop off packages at the front desk. He can go from bitching about colleagues with Kassandra to a sickly sweet customer service voice on the end of a phone in a heartbeat.
Eivor gets all her paperwork done to an excellent standard, providing she doesn’t have to use spreadsheet software. She’s also the person in charge of fixing the staff room’s shitty coffee machine when it breaks every other weak. She is hiding two kittens in her desk, under the impression that nobody knows. Everyone knows.
Soma is in charge of the branch, and is a fantastic leader. Always professional. Except around Wigmund; there are no limits to how petty she can be in his vicinity, and her biting insults are always deserved because he’s homophobic.
Wigmund is only still there despite a multitude of HR violations because he’s all buddy-buddy with the CEO. Everyone hates him.
Ceolbert is there on work-experience. Everybody adores him and will fight to guarantee him a full-time placement should he wish to accept.
Phoibe is allowed to do her homework in the office after school because Kassandra is a very protective aunt and despises the school bus driver, so she drives her home after her shift finishes. She’s allowed to make paper planes out of discarded documents.
Barnabas retired recently, but Alkibiades still lets him into the office because he is a well-loved person. His banter is of the best quality, he always shows people pictures of his grandkids, and as part of the effort against Wigmund he likes to leave his glass eye in his coffee mug to freak him out.
Hytham is the office IT consultant who spends 90% of his time trying to teach Eivor how to use Microsoft Excel. He feeds the kittens in her desk when she is stuck in meetings. 100% has gained access to Wigmund’s browser history and shared it with everyone after he made an islamophobic comment.
Birna gives herself employee of the month certificates every month, even though that’s not a system the office has in place, because she deserves them. Soma has asked her to stop printing them in full colour because of the dent it makes to the office printing budget. Birna refuses to dampen her victory.
Ikaros is the office pet (unofficially, because the thought of the paperwork that would invoke makes Soma want to cry). Kassandra talks to him like she can understand him, and it concerns everybody in the building.
Synín breaks into the office frequently to torment Eivor. She eats her documents and pecks at the desk draw containing the kittens to try and rat them out. Eivor still feeds her though.
There is never a dull day in that office.
The branch has been banned from several team-building activity venues. Competitivity has many a time taken a swift turn down the route of “disorderly conduct” and “property damage” and “multiple violations of the law”.
Soma has a decently soundproof room in the office, so she can play music through speakers to keep her sane. But there was one occasion where she synced her Bluetooth to the wrong sound system, and the entire floor was forced to listen to her god-awful country music playlist for the better part of an hour. Nobody will let her live this down. She got a Billy Rae Cyrus fan shirt during Secret Santa (courtesy of Eivor).
When the computer software system the whole company uses got overhauled after new regulations were put in place, just after Eivor finished learning how to navigate the old system, she nearly had a breakdown. She picked up the kittens and took impromptu paid holiday, ignoring company policy. No one stopped her.
Ceolbert earned Kassandra’s immediate respect when he helped Phoibe with her maths homework, because, in her words, “fuck that nerd shit”. Ikaros also took an instantaneous liking to him at that moment. She tried teaching him how to flirt, but he’s too precious and couldn’t grasp it.
Hytham and Birna had a bet going on: which physical altercation would happen first? Would Soma finally lose her shit and punch Wigmund, or would Eivor punch a hole through her computer after getting frustrated with word processing software for the thousandth time? The result was...neither. Alkibiades bitch-slapped Kassandra after she jokingly called him a whore.
After hearing a complaint from the floor below over “loud desk chair skidding sounds across the corridor”, Soma didn’t even need to ask who it was. Eivor, Birna and Kassandra were all denied a homemade cookie that week.
Because of Wigmund’s connections to the top, and he’s a grade-A piece of shit, HR effectively ignores their branch. A maximum of three people would have their jobs otherwise, and Ceolbert isn’t even technically an employee.
Alkibiades has a code for when a particular client representative, who happens to be Kassandra’s rather bitter ex, enters the building. Kassandra has hidden in the cupboard under the staff room sink, under Eivor’s desk, behind the curtain in Soma’s office, and once in the ceiling vents.
Once, Kassandra was tasked with attending a meeting with this ex. “Kass, you’re needed the floor up. Odessa arrived ten minutes ago with—” “Tell them I died.” “I can’t tell her that you’re dead, what the fu—” But she’s already gone.
Ultimately they’re a very chaotic work family. But Barnabas always invites all - bar one, obviously - the family around to his house once a year for a barbecue, because family matters.

Chapter 1 - Table of Consent -
Tumblr media
Chapter 15: Ruffled
The first 180 days of your 365 days to organize Buggy's grand dream had gone by in a work-crushing haze. There hadn't just been a lot to do, there had been enough work for three of you. You ended up ordering around even Buggy for assistance as things had started to come together.
Buggy hadn't come into things halfway, but he didn't have the organizational and coordination background you did. So he had a bunch of really well documented ideas that needed to be sorted and implemented.
The more effort that was put into things at the start, the less effort would be needed to maintain it. Buggy had given you leave to be a demon, and so a demon you were. Even Alvida had been hesitant to approach you on a couple of occasions. Some of it was knowing what needed to be done, some of it was needing things to be done in a precise way, and some of it was your own rage.
Your heartache had turned to grief, your grief had turned to anger, and the anger had fueled your energy for work.
The worst part about your anger was that you weren't angry at anything. There was no place for the rage to go. You couldn't be mad at the dating site, it functioned on algorithms and sheer luck. You couldn't be mad at Crocodile, he had acted within the parameters you had agreed on. You couldn't be mad at yourself, you did your best. You couldn't be mad at the Marines, though you found some part of you had become very antagonistic toward them lately, but they had just been doing their job.
So you released your anger into reports and schedules and tried to shield everyone around you from it. Some leaked out - Buggy suggested that you needed to be a little less flashy at one point, but that was before one the biggest deadlines you had all faced at that time. Once the hurdle has been overcome all of you managed to relax a little.
Buggy's Delivery Service was becoming a reality.
180 days after that you were a month past the grand opening, and most of your work had been in smoothing out the few untested practical hiccups that you had been expecting to be a lot worse than they were. You had meant to praise Buggy, Alvida and Galdino for their assistance, and instead they had thrown a surprise party for you. Donut shop coffee and grocery store sushi - you had been almost existing on the combination due to your long hours.
Once you had admitted you were okay with it they had brought out the real feast - catered professional sushi and an array of beverages.
It was the first really good day you'd had in almost a year.
360 days, and Buggy forced you to take the next 5 days off before you moved from your Demon Role to your Internal Coordinator role. He had wanted you to take a month off and the two of you had gone back and forth until you conceded to five days.
Home still had memories in it, and you didn't want to spend more time with those memories than you needed.
The first day you had been home all day there was a knock at the door. Something about it left you feeling nostalgic, but you weren't sure why until you opened the door.
Looking down you see a small package with a folded note on top of it.
You dart out into the hall and look for someone, anyone. You needed to grab Miss All Sunday and wring answers from her, someway, somehow. You wanted to vent your anger at her even if you didn't know why. Even if she didn't deserve it.
You wanted your pictures back.
There was no one in the hall, and looking over the rail of the hallway there wasn't any movement out in the yard or lot. You swore under your breath as you grabbed the box and went back inside.
Opening up the letter your legs nearly buckled.
A gift for you To express my deepest regrets.
Sincerely, Doffy
Suddenly the innocuous box was disturbingly sinister, and you weren't sure you wanted to open it. It was phone box shaped, and it didn't feel any heavier or lighter than you expected a box with a phone in it to feel.
If he wanted to blow you up, or murder you, then there probably wasn't much you could do about it.
You open up the box and there's another note folded up on top of a phone that looks very similar to your own. You feel apprehension knot your muscles, a cold chill settling into your stomach. Suddenly, you don't want to know what the note says or what the phone holds.
You decide to get out of the entrance hall and go sit at your desk in your room. Setting everything down, you open the letter to a bunch of technical-looking jargon.
GPS != ✅ SIM != ✅ Inverse controls =control !=analog ✅ File directory protocol [1Ra-4Le-5Re-5Li-?%e-1La] encrypt lock ✅ Passcode = Suwani Data protection = ✅
Aside from the exclamation marks, everything else is typed. Below all the typed information were a series of letters: YDSNDWSSMRGND
"What kind of spy bullshit is this?" You grumble as you look over the note so many times your eyes start to cross.
You pick up the phone, if for no other reason than to look at something different for a minute and choke on a gasp as the lock screen lights up.
It's an image of Crocodile, but he's not at his desk. He's in prison clothes, leaning against a cinder block wall. There are bruises on his face and blood from cuts. Despite the state he's in, there's confidence in his eyes.
Or maybe you're just seeing what you want to see.
The image brings up all the pain of the first day, and for a few long moments you're sobbing at your desk. You're torn between the painfully sweet feelings in your heart and the tempting salvation of moving on. Part of you never wants to tempt the Fates in love again, and part of you wants some prospect of future warmth to be able to bring you comfort like you had before.
After you manage to compose yourself, you tap on the Lock Screen and input "Suwani", and the phone unlocks.
There are Xs across the top of the screen where the mobile data usually is, and the time is glitched out. That makes some of the stuff on the note make sense, since it looks like the GPS and SIM card are disabled. Everything else appears to be intact, as you flip through the pictures you took, the videos, and even find the original image of Crocodile at his desk, that Miss All Sunday had set as your Lock Screen.
All your memories were back in your hand.
The hard question was, did you lose yourself in them, or did you bury them? If you held on to a past that was already a year cold, how long would you last?
You still miss him terribly, but you hadn't even heard from Miss All Sunday all this time, and if Doflamingo had returned this phone to you, the secretary might not even be alive anymore.
What kind of world had you been getting ready to fall into? Maybe you would try a typical dating site, looking for a Librarian or an accountant. Security guard for an elementary school - someone with a mind-numbingly normal life.
You put the phone and note in your desk drawer and forgot about them.
. . . . . .
After your five days off you went into work and settled into your new, preferred role of Internal Coordinator. You hadn't opened your desk drawer in all that time, except to turn the phone off entirely to conserve the battery. You did find yourself looking at it a couple times, but after a decent night's sleep you had decided to move on. This was your new life and you had to make the most of it.
"(Y/N)! Good morning!" Buggy called out as he walked into the office. You were the only one who was generally in before him, though today it was only by five minutes instead of a couple hours.
"Happy Monday, Boss." You reply with a smile, getting up and walking with him into his office. "I have a meeting with the division leads in an hour, and after that is the pulse check with the IT team. You said I needed time after lunch for something?"
"Yeah, I want you to help coordinate the investors. I got them all together at 2pm today, and we'll do introductions. Nothing flashy, but you can put names to faces and they can introduce themselves." He explains, biting into an apple. "After that we can do the level set for the week?"
"Yeah, I can't do it before I sit with the leads, so it'll have to be more of an end of day thing anyway." You agree. "But that works, it also gives me time to coordinate with Alvida and Galdino about this new hire, Ritchie."
"How's the numbers?"
"I only just got here," you laugh, pulling the report up on your work phone. "I promised I wouldn't keep pulling 15-hour days, so give me one moment." You tapped away at your phone for a minute and pulled up the report. "85% - that's up from the 79 I saw last I looked. Pretty good uptime for our staff so far. I'd like to see it hovering around 93%. If we go higher than that we'll need to start hiring more delivery hands."
"Is that accounting for time off?"
"Yeah, and I padded two days to take sickness into consideration. We already had four in there for injury, so we've probably over-padded a bit, but this avoids any nasty spikes in availability." You commented, continuing without looking up. "The 40% downtime pay was a brilliant idea; it's certainly going to keep us competitive."
"I want to hit 60% as soon as we can." Buggy reminds you.
"Yeah, yeah, I haven't forgotten. We just don't have the revenue yet. We will though, if these trends keep up, and as long as our investors don't get impatient about seeing returns." You assure him. "Something I can remind them about when we meet later."
You separate from Buggy and go through your day, meeting with the division leads and checking in with the IT team. You grab a quick lunch from a nearby café, and kill a bit of time until you meeting with the investors. Before you meet up with Buggy you take a few minutes to check your appearance in the women's room – you're not overly concerned, but you want to make sure you look neat and sharp for your first impression.
It's hard enough to corral a bunch of rich people as a woman, there's no reason to give them things to nitpick.
You came to Buggy's office just as he was stepping out to find you, putting you both at the doors. You stepped into his office a single step before you paused.
"Gentlemen, please give me just one more minute." You say evenly, grabbing Buggy as you step back out and close the doors behind you.
Buggy looks completely confused before you finally wheel on him, hissing your words even though you'd rather yell.
"What in the absolute fucking hells is Donquixote Doflamingo doing in that room Buggy?!" You demand, grabbing him by the collar and almost shaking him. "He wasn't on the list!"
"He's on the list! He's on the list, look – look." Buggy holds up a list and you scan the names quickly.
"He's not—wait, is he this 'Joker' entry?"
"Yes, yes he is."
"Buggy."
"Please-don't-kill-me."
You take in a breath and let it out slowly. "I'm not..." you let go of him and pinch the bridge of your nose. "I can't coordinate him."
"... That ... may be a problem."
You look up to the ceiling. "Why would that be a problem, Buggy."
Buggy takes a couple steps away from you before answering. "Part of his agreement upon becoming an investor was that you would be the coordinator for the investors."
"That seems like the sort of thing you talk to me about first, Boss." You growl the words, even as you're trying to calm down.
"He just said you had done such a good job for him during the auction, and I didn't think anything of it since you were going to fill that role anyway." Buggy explains. He's talking fast, and about to reach the screeching stage of his anxiety.
"Take a deep breath, Boss." You say, and you find your voice sounds as calm as you want it to. "Let's just get through this and worry about things after."
You turn back toward the office and walk back in. "My apologies for the wait, I'm Miss (F/N) (L/N), and I'll be coordinating your needs and concerns going forward. If we could do a round of introductions, after which I will provide an update on our current numbers and we can level set on expectations and returns."
You had looked around the room as you spoke, taking in each of the investors in turn. The last eight words out of your mouth, you made sure to look at Doflamingo as you spoke.

Steps to take when USPS Package gets Delayed
USPS handles millions of packages daily, and it is a very complex system. Unfortunately, things can sometimes go wrong in the process. That is why it is very important to give yourself some "lead time" in order to ensure that you receive your package when you expect to receive it. This is especially important when shipping internationally - international packages tend to have more friction in the USPS system due to customs delays and other environmental forces that are outside of the control of the Postal Service.
Tumblr media
The first thing to do when you receive in transit arriving late update from USPS is to check the status update on the tracking website. This will tell you what the current status is, and whether or not there is an estimated delivery date on there.
If your package has this status, then it is likely just stuck in a pile that needs to be sorted out or is somewhere in limbo at a facility. This can happen for a variety of reasons - Covid-19 and holiday volume can put a lot of stress on facilities, for example.
In addition, if the package is heavier than what the label indicates it may get sent back to the sender for extra postage or be slowed down by transportation-related issues, such as truck breakdowns, traffic congestion, or road closures. This can be frustrating to deal with, but there isn't much you can do beyond waiting a bit longer. If this happens, then it is best to go to your local post office and ask for help - they can usually be helpful in figuring out what's going on.

GPS != ✅ SIM != ✅ Inverse controls =control !=analog ✅ File directory protocol [1Ra-4Le-5Re-5Li-?%e-1La] encrypt lock ✅ Passcode = Suwani Data protection = ✅
