wrapping up 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣‼
Tumblr media
this year was wild - since the start of the pandemic i've lost joy in drawing, and it's taken quite a while, but i'm starting to have fun when i draw again. like i've said before, it's a tradition of mine to do these art summaries since i was in high school, i love doing them even if the year isn't fruitful. more below the cut !!
i didn't draw a lot this year due to.. life obligations... work (inc. commissions), anime north, online shop. some months i only had 1 drawing 🤦‍♀️..... and therefore i don't think i achieved a lot of my goals from 2021. there also aren't a lot of full illustrations, just a lot of busts hahaha. i spent a lot of free time away from the computer - sometimes u need hobbies other than drawing u kno??
this is what i wrote:
"in 2022 I want to go back to basics more and focus on things like depicting fabric & drapery, detail, anatomy & structure, expression & body language. I think a lot of my work lends itself to the “boring” side so I want to improve on conveying mood and a statement with my art. I’m not good at portraying expression or making something like. “visceral”. but I’ll do my best (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و"
i opted to keep a lot of my few drawings just for myself/among friends, so that i wouldn't focus on the Posting aspect of making art (bc this is what really hurt me in 2020-2021), and to just focus on the process and having Fun.
i want to continue pursuing happiness in my art, and to not ignore the stories i've always wanted to tell with my characters, about topics that are really important to me. this looked really short on twit but it looks quite long enough on tumblr hahaha - so thank you everyone !! from the bottom of my heart !! (my cold black heart)
thank you everyone for all your support and kindness this year, let's work towards being stronger in 2023 ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
template: here お借りしました!ありがとうございます!
charas list (bc i always get curious about others' summaries haHA) - jan: eva, oc - feb: terence, oc - mar: flynn, oc - apr: tohru honda, fruits basket - may: olruggio - jun: princess tutu - jul: panty anarchy - aug: flynn, oc - sept: terence, oc - oct: lottie baskerville, pandora hearts - nov: uta, one piece - dec: muffy, harvest moon

Had to rush to put this one together because I was a bozo who forgot about it until earlier today, but boom! Year over. Remember when it seemed like this year was going to be "about" me getting re-fixated on Kirby (and more specifically, Magolor)? Because I sure didn't! The sheer power of Pikmin... Anyways, standard rules apply- these are my favourite pieces from each month, limited exclusively to pieces I made and shared here that month. Let's go.
Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / Jun / Jul / Aug / Sep / Oct / Nov / Dec
The template can be found here.

Anyways, yes, it is horrifying to me that I'm rapidly approaching a decade's worth of these, thanks for asking!

My 2022 art summary post, + my art summaries from the last five years, since I don’t think I’ve shared these on tumblr before.   Surprised how much art I actually made in 2022 - I'd thought this year was a bit of a creative drought for me, but there is a Lot of stuff in my files.
2022′s template is by necromoss and 2018 was created by me.  Unfortunately I’ve long since forgotten the credits on the other ones.
Featured artworks (2022):
Jan: Abyssal tidekeeper
Feb: Island of Fire
Mar: Memory's Watch
Apr: Sketches for a commission (Havoc)
May: The Tower
Jun: Uolevi
Jul: WotSK "Troublemakers" comic collab
Aug: Pew Pew
Sep: Character design sketches (Bellamy)
Oct: Character design sketch (Dmitri)
Nov: Hestia Fire-mawed
Dec: Inferno
To access the full-sized images for prior years, please check out their DA posts (I’d repost them here but I’m too lazy to go through that)
2022: you are here

My Yearend Techs & Misc. Items Summary - 2022
Hello! So, 2022 is about to end in a few hours. A few positive moments 🙂⬆️, but some are negative moments in the past 😞⬇️, with my most heart breaking moment was my old hard drive will soon vanish because I can't work it right, and I'm unable to save my precious files. 😭 But, don't worry, I'll be strong when it hits 2023. 💪 As some would say, "Where there's a will, there's a way". 🥲 And, since I can't retrieve my old template, I decided to create my own template from scratch instead of fetching a traceable template from the internet image search. Which is good for me.
Anyway, enough for that, let’s talk about my ‘My Yearend Techs and Misc. Items Summary 2022’! And here are my choices per month so far, both ongoing & done topics:
• JAN - Redragon Rudra (K565R) Full Size Mechanical Keyboard (done): So far, I'm having fun typing & playing with my 1st ever owned mechanical keyboard from the 2021 Christmas gift. However, one con that I've found from experiencing mech keyboard was wearing off the tactical keystrokes after longevity used. I'm still curious to see if this mech keyboard from Redragon is swappable/removable key switches; though it didn't advertise or include this feature. Regardless, it is still worth it to use my daily computer activities.
• FEB - 8bitdo Pro 2 Controller (ongoing): Arguably the most worthy controller in my review, the 8Bitdo's Pro 2 controller is my current go-to 3rd-party controller on multiple gaming devices (Android, iOS, Steam, Switch, and PC/Laptop). Though to be fair, the SN30 Pro+ had a special place in my heart, so much so that I want to buy another one. But, I digress. The Pro 2 controller improves the predecessor by adding back paddle buttons, a profile switch, toggling four platform devices, and connecting the 8bitdo ultimate software app on Android/ Apple iOS on the go without bringing a bulky laptop.
• MAR - Oria 120 in 1 Screwdriver Set (done): As a tech-savvy enthusiast, I decided to buy my own Screwdriver Set, in case that I want something to fix on my daily used devices, namely "Smartphones". Because it's very common now, to this day.
• APR - Fixing my PC - Volume II Story: A sequel to my last year's story, I made another huge mistake after I disassembled & cleaning the entire parts of the PC desktop harmlessly until it went down south. So, my mom provided me to buy a new motherboard & CPU to keep my computer alive. I'm still concerned about my 160 GB HD (that contains my important & precious files), therefore, my puzzle is incomplete, to this day.
• MAY - Adata HD330 External Hard Drive - 2 TB (done): On the bright side, I bought my own brand new 2 TB external hard drive from the folks of Adata. And while I'm filling out some files by drawing digital artwork or recording videos, I always stored my NEW precious files onto my portable memory drive.
• JUN - N-Power LED RGBW Bulb w/ Remote (done): A single-color light bulb is boring to some. But, a light bulb that contains different colors using a remote on our fingertips is far better & entertaining. And I can't do without N-Power. Plus, it's way cheaper than other brands.
• JUL - Unbranded USB AA Rechargeable Batteries (done): This unique cell battery doesn't require a battery cell charger, instead, it uses a USB type A to charge using either from the computer, a power bank or a USB wall charger (or any similar devices that involves USB type A). A fully charged AA battery estimates up to 6 to 7 hours, not 2.5 to 3 hours. Yeah, that's a downside, but you won't regret owning it.
• AUG - Phone Tripod Mouth Adapter (done): I want something that rotates my mouthed smartphone without adjusting from my tripod, and thankfully my wish was granted. To this day, I'm still using it for my recording & snapshot purposes using my current smartphone (Honor 8C).
• SEPT - Keweisi (or KOWSI) USB Multifunctional Tester (done): Honesty, I'm tired of manual time using my phone & opening a stopwatch as my timer. I just can't tell what's the real estimated time during my charging test. Well, not to worry! Because the USB Multifunctional Tester from Keweisi (or KOWSI?) should do the job. The only thing I need to do is to keep an eye on a specific time when charging any device is full.
• OCT - QKZ AK6 Pro IEM Earphones (done): My ZNT R620 earphone [CLICK ME!] might be an ‘A-Okay’ status & using it as my primary earphone. But, all that changed when I switched to QKZ's AK6 Pro as my first ever owned IEM earphone! It's the cheapest IEM earphone (on the market) with the ability to remove IEM cables, and I'm still embracing it. I just love these IEM earphones so much, that I need someone to compete against other brands.
• NOV - Rechargeable Light Tube (done): By far, the most likable & unique item I ever owned, this fluorescent light look-a-like has three available sizes; depending on their amount of watts. And right here is the 40 Watts. Perfect for outside activities, travel, and even camping.
Here is my honorable mention:
Tumblr media
• FEB - ZNT R620 Earphones (done): As I said, it's A-Okay. However, their loudness sound didn't match, particularly the right channel. It's a good thing I'm done using it because I've already got the aforementioned QKZ AK6 Pro IEM Earphones.
Alright, back to my topic pick & this is my last!↓
• DEC - Sonicgear Quatro 2 USB Speakers (done): And finally, my last item review is the Sonicgear Quatro 2 USB Speakers. Their design & sound quality are decently average, in my opinion, but their four bass drives could use a little tweak to make it better, or maybe swap it out from other brands & make a custom for your music taste.
Well, that’s the end of my “My Yearend Techs and Misc. Items 2022”. We’ll see you in 2023.
🥳 Happy new years eve to all, and as always, stay safe!😷
If you want to see my 2020 & 2021 version of that, then I'll provide some links down below.↓

A note to Strathclyde authors on the application of the Rights Retention Statement (RRS)
Pablo de Castro, Open Access Advocacy Librarian
These days we are frequently receiving queries from Strathclyde authors via the Open Access mailbox on how to deal with the Rights Retention Statement for specific submissions and/or accepted manuscripts. These queries mainly refer to publications acknowledging UKRI-funded projects, since it's UK Research and Innovation who have more recently included this RRS requirement on their updated Open Access policy that kicked-in on 1 Apr 2022. The Wellcome Trust have a similar RRS policy requirement in place since 1 Jan 2021.
This RRS requirement involves adding the following 2-line statement at the end of the acknowledgments section of manuscripts where UKRI- or Wellcome-funded projects are mentioned as a source of funding:
"For the purpose of open access, the authors have applied a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licence to any Author Accepted Manuscript version arising"
Queries received so far on the application of the RRS refer mostly to three publishers: the IEEE, the APS and Nature Research titles. A short explanation follows on how to address each of these.
IEEE. Submissions of UKRI-funded manuscripts to hybrid IEEE journals (i.e. non-Open-Access titles) should include the 2-line RRS in their acknowledgements. An email should be sent to the publisher upon manuscript acceptance asking for permission to deposit the full-text accepted manuscript or AAM under no embargo and under a CC BY 4.0 licence. A template for such email is available here and is regularly being used by Strathclyde researchers (mostly at the EEE Department).
American Physical Society (APS). An agreement is now in place with the APS whereby any manuscript with a Strathclyde corresponding author accepted in any of the hybrid titles published by the APS (PRL, PRA, PRB, PRC, PRD, PRE, Phys Rev Appl, Phys Rev Fluids and Phys Rev Mater) in the period 1 Jan-30 Jun 2023 will automatically be published Gold Open Access. This will be directly arranged by the publisher without any intervention from the library, although we are happy to check published papers and chase the application of Gold OA in case there were any issues.
This agreement means that the 2-line RRS does not need to be included in the manuscript acknowledgements, as compliance with the UKRI OA policy will be secured via Gold OA (named route 1 on the funder’s OA policy).
Nature Research titles. The Gold Open Access publishing fee for these journals is prohibitively expensive, so there are two frequent questions we’re receiving with regard to manuscript submitted to these journals:
Are UKRI-funded manuscripts accepted in these Nature titles eligible for APC funding?
No. These titles are not eligible for Gold OA funding. The UKRI OA policy says that institutions are not allowed to pay for Gold OA fees for manuscripts accepted in journals whose publisher does not have a Read & Publish agreement with the institutions or their consortia. There is no such agreement with Springer Nature for these titles, so in these cases the mechanism to follow is to include the 2-line RRS above in the manuscript acknowledgements.
Critically, this allows the full-text accepted author manuscript (AAM) to be published in the institutional repository under no embargo period, meaning it's as good as Gold OA for visibility purposes. See here an example for the openly available AAM for a very recently published paper in Nature Materials, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41563-022-01459-z.
Note.- This is not a Strathclyde paper as the Strathclyde examples we have at the time of writing are all still undergoing peer review.
What option is available to meet the Open Access requirements for "unfunded" manuscripts? ("unfunded" meaning not funded by the UKRI or Wellcome)
At the moment the best option is Green Open Access respecting the (usually 12-month) embargo period. But this is changing too. It seems unfair that researchers need to wait for such a long time (usually 24 months for the Humanities and Social Sciences) to be able to openly share their findings.
This is why a rapidly growing number of UK universities – which at the time of writing include the universities of Edinburgh, Aberdeen, St Andrews, Manchester, Liverpool, Lancaster, Newcastle, Leeds, York, Sheffield, Durham, Sheffield Hallam, Oxford and Cambridge – have already adopted Institutional Rights Retention Policies (IRRPs). These policies include the default adoption of the UKRI and Wellcome Trust OA policies to all institutional outputs.
This means that by including the 2-line RRS on any manuscript, regardless of whether it's "funded" or "unfunded", the AAMs will be made openly available under no embargo period. Including AAMs coming from HSS disciplines.
Strathclyde has not (yet) adopted such an IRRP. One reason why all those mostly research-intensive institutions have adopted these policies is that it is widely expected that the post-2021 REF policy will include the RRS as a requirement for eligibility – previous REF OA policies have traditionally aligned with the policies enforced by the largest research funders in the country. At Strathclyde we are being cautious and we are waiting to see if the post-2021 REF OA policy includes this update or not (the new policy is expected to be released in Spring 2023) before designing and adopting our own IRRP. This is to spare Strathclyde authors the teething problems the early adoption of these IRRPs is likely to face in terms of a publisher backlash.
"One of the primary fears researchers have regarding rights retention is that a publisher may editorially reject their article at the point of submission"
Source: “Rights retention: publisher responses to the University [of Cambridge]’s pilot” (Oct 2022) https://unlockingresearch-blog.lib.cam.ac.uk/?p=3361
We will keep the Strathclyde authors informed about the progress of this rapidly changing Open Access landscape. The key input should be the announcement of the updated Open Access policy for the post-2021 REF. In the meantime please feel free to reach out at [email protected] for any case-specific advice you may need.

Well it’s been. another year! No one can argue that. Because it’s objectively true and I’m right. Honestly I’m really not sure what to say this time, especially since I’m currently sick and tired and thus not at peak Ramblebrain, y’know? Heck, I don’t even know if people read these rambles. I could say whatever the hell I want. Rhubarb. Watermelon. Snildebbliogh. I guess I’ll mention that despite being pleased with most of my picks, I really wish that I’d been able to do more ‘big’ art this year... Art block and/or lack of motivation is a bitch.
Anyways! Same rules as always, I picked my favourite art pieces I made in each month, limited solely to those I posted on this blog... Not that I typically stow away pieces I’m proud of solely to Discord, but hey. Rules are rules, even if they don’t matter that much in the long run.
Jan | Feb | Mar | Apr | May | Jun | Jul* | Aug | Sep | Oct | Nov | Dec
Template can be found... nowhere this time! Because the artist who made the one I used last year, asterianmonarch, seems to have deactivated their DA, so I edited the 2021 one instead. I’ll find a new one next year, I promise.
2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021
*An Agent’s Work is Never Done finished releasing in May, Rookie on the Rocks released in June, and now One Lump or Two has released in July. What a funny little pattern. While this one wasn’t a planned release, I’m still pleased with it, and well... Here’s hoping Suspect at Large will finally be done in 2023...

Art Summary for 2021!
Jan Feb Mar Apr
May Jun Jul Aug
Sep Oct Nov Dec
Template source in the reblog!
There's been a ton of Higher Plane and Composer Neku arts for many months before NEO's release.
September was the only month where I had one piece of art posted. Otherwise every month had a picture and comic options to pick from.
If I had to pick a single favourite, it would be January's followed very closely by April's. Very pleased with how art has gone this year but did hit a bit of a snag around NEO's release. NEO gave me a break and so did TWEWYtober. I let myself do whatever for TWEWYtober and it helped me iron out more of a style that I want when not drawing Composers. Was very freeing even though I did burn out a bit from that but pulled out before it actually was an issue.
Thank you all for the support and comments! I learned even more to draw for myself first this year but I always love seeing other people enjoy my art too!
