Arcana characters as Disney's Hercules

I promise not all of these are gonna be Disney themed lol I'm just a Muriel simp (if you couldn't tell) and when I originally came up with the Disney princess idea Muriel as Hercules started rotting a hole through my brain so here we are! Also, we're gonna get some side character/familiar action here as well, yay!

Asra, Nadia, Julian, & Portia - the muses

Oh god I can hear the Lucio simps screeching at me in the comments already

Let's face it bro is the villain in every route but his own and the cynical, "better than thou" personality that they both share just fits so well

Plus this version of Hades is a Satan analog who makes binding deals with others for his own benefit, and doesn't that sound like a certain devil we all know?

Not to mention both of them are trying to escape the realms they've been assigned & make themselves god king of everything

Morga - Phil

And now we get to the fun characters outside the M6

I will admit, Phil is a lot nicer than Morga, but jaded older mentor figure trying to make up for failed prodigies fits

Plus, Morga was Muriel's mentor in his route

I feel like both also fit into the role of proud parent figure by the end of their respective stories

And both are disapproving of their pupil's romances lol

Inanna - Pegasus

Admittedly Inanna is a bit more no-nonsense than Pegasus is, but she can still be goofy and fun when she wants to

Incredibly supportive of their human companions, important assets in battle, their appearance started the main character on a path for a better and more fulfilling life

Not much else to say here it just works

Vlastomil and Volta - Pain & Panic

Honestly idk if I can fit Vulgora and Valdemar into the Hercules narrative, but at least I could get these two in here

Vlastomil is Pain and Volta is Panic; I realize both could probably fit into Panic's role as they are the more timid and mild mannered courtiers, but I've chosen things this way because Volta is a little bit more flighty and afraid to commit crimes like Panic, where as Vlastomil is a bit more bold (when he's allowed to be) and better fits Pain

There's also the whole shape shifting deal they can all do

Khamgalai - Zeus

This one.....is a bit weird ngl, I'm still not quite sure about it

Honestly this is the ONLY time I will conflate someone so near & dear to my heart with Zeus

Mostly this all fits into the "detached/secret family member" archetype

And....I mean Zeus in this narrative at least is actually very kind & caring, as well as a proud dad which is similar enough to Khamgalai to work ok

Plus they both act as a guide for the main character when they're trying to find/drifting away from the plot a little bit

My MC is also a self insert, and for as long as I can remember I've always identified the most with Meg, more than any of the other Disney women

best experiences — Plenty. Lately I've had some great toku-inspired storylines with @5mind, and I always look back on threads I have with pals like @viopolis, @saizansha, @damnlamb, @outofthiisworld and everybody!

pet peeves/dealbreakers — More than once I've found myself held to rules that don't also apply to the person setting them, not a fan of that. Nor when I'm giving attention to their characters/world/lore but not really receiving the same regard, especially if we communicated OOC about it already or emphasized details get glossed over in threads.

muse preference ( fluff, angst, smut ) — I like variety and balance. Slice of life that can include fluff/angst/crack, but also just mundane ennui and more evenly paced humor. Action/adventure/mystery/situation comedy and stuff-- whether small or large scale helps diffuse a bit.

plot or memes — I try to reblog memes still as first interaction ice breakers, or even something to help get the ideas flowing with folks I already know. Plotting remains the best way to try and hash out specifics though!

long or short replies — Whatever gets the intent and feeling across at the time, as much or as little as that may be. I'm more interested these days in what folks have to say and how they say it than how "productive" they are.

best time to write — I try to belt out a response of some kind whenever I can, preferably sooner rather than later but this varies. Helps if available free time intersects with a surge of motivation/inspiration but sometimes you just gotta get something out there at all, even if conditions aren't optimal and the solar system's planetary bodies haven't converged yet. Not to say prioritize RP as #1, just don't be hard on yourself if things aren't perfect, y'know? It's a hobby.

are you like your muse?: In some ways, though I think over time my characters-- the ones I RP or write in original stories, have become exaggerations of traits, whether existing qualities of my own or not. Qualities I like/dislike, want to reconcile with, or aspire towards. Their experiences are larger than life but can still serve as metaphors for commonplace things we all deal with.

So...

Do you guys know that thing about creative writers with ideas (plot bunnies) and how they always seem to multiply one after the other? That's me with Twisted Wonderland AUs. I can't help it! The series just reminds me of all the stories I loved as a kid, with characters that had depth and / or developed or we got to learn more about--even if it was stupid little things they do in their everyday life! I've grown to appreciate it in ways I never imagined I could any form of media. ;;v;;

To be honest...this game has given me the creativity to consistently create and build upon ideas, and the support you all have given me has meant so much. I can't thank you all enough for sticking with me for so long, and for sending me all the ideas or scenarios you all have been daydreaming of. ;;v;;

So I wanted to give a bit of an update on a few things I'm going to do with the blog:

1) Create a rules page. I've gone far too long without updating my original set, and I feel it's long overdue 😂 Plus, it'll help me keep track of certain things!

2) Go back through and update the links on the Masterlists with posts I may have missed. I didn't realize that some things I was referencing in some of my latest posts (aka the grape incident in the monster!AU) were missing, so I'm gonna comb through my posts and make sure I label and organize them easier for you guys to find (and for me to refresh myself on what I write)!

3) Answering asks (of course). Things are a little slow going and my muse has been getting finicky with me, but I will make sure I get to everyone's asks! Some I may answer because they're quick and easy, others...I may end up getting an idea for something more expansive, so that'll take a bit longer. 😅

And finally, 4) Introducing a(nother) AU:

Twisted Wonderland!Mermaid AU!!!

Honestly, this started because I got inspired by the artwork by this artist here where they drew the characters based on Floyd's nicknames for them, and it started as a Marine Biologist AU where Yuu is a marine biologist and taking care of the mermaid bois (all 22 boys + one fire-breathing cat) buuuuuut...at the moment, Yuu getting shipwrecked and living on the island with the mermaid boys wouldn't leave me alone. 😂

As well as an idea where Yuu is a full-blooded Kaiju/born a Kaiju and has Land Before Time like adventures because I got emotional at baby Littlefoot hatching, but who's counting the ideas? Certainly not me!

Anyway, I wanted to share a snippet of the prologue I have written that's currently under construction, so the final product may differ. I'm honestly really excited about this AU too, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do~ ;;v;;

If anyone were to ask Yuu what they were going to be doing over the summer, they likely would have told them: catch up on their reading, or playing video games, or any number of different things they had planned. Even just relaxing at home or on the beach would have been an enticing offer.

A scuba diving trip was not something they expected to get dragged into.

“First time diving?”

“Was it that obvious?” Yuu asked, one hand gripping the bar on the seat next to them until their knuckles were white while the other kept hold of the oxygen tank sitting in front of their flippered feet.

“Yeah…kinda obvious for a first timer,” the instructor said with a chuckle, the man giving them a reassuring pat. “It can be a bit nerve-wracking for new divers, but you’ll be fine. You’re one of the contest winners, right?”

“I put my name in as a joke, I didn’t think I’d actually win!” Peering over the edge of the railings, Yuu couldn’t make out anything in the dark water. “I…thought we were going to dive near the shallows closer to land. What are we doing so far out?” they asked, swearing they saw a big shadow pass by…only to realize it was the ship’s frame reflecting on the water.

“I know we’re a lot further out than we normally would for first time divers, but we had problems with our normal ship and the only one that was available was this ship a couple of marine biologists were using.”

“…why didn’t you just cancel and set it for another day?”

“Try telling that to my bosses,” the man muttered under his breath before the smile was back on his face. “Anyway, I think this will be a fun change to the program! These biologists are actually working to explore the reactions of marine life to musical instruments, and we’ll get to see it firsthand ourselves!”

Before Yuu could respond, the ship came to a stop and the driver said, “We’re here! You folks ready to go diving while we get set up? There’s a coral reef not far below us, so you’ll have plenty of time to sightsee.”

“Yup! Okay, so let’s go over the basics again, and I’ll make sure your gear is on properly.”

Yuu listened nervously as the instructor walked through each procedure and rule of diving, the wetsuit sticking tightly to their body as the tank weighed heavily on their back. This was not how they imagined their first time scuba diving would be—they could barely even make out the shore from a wave in the distance. Finally—with mask secured and breathing apparatus in—the instructor gave them a reassuring nod…before falling backwards into the water with a  ‘sploosh!’. For a brief moment they froze, but the motion of the ship and the weight on their back knocked them off balance and forced them backwards.

Fwoosh!!

Only Friends Pilot Trailer Vs The Show

Plus some other Only Friends Musing.

Given all the new post and takes on Only afriends on my dash thanks to @waitmyturtles and @bengiyo posts I have decided to post this.

WARNING: This will get negative in place. I am trying to get to a place where I can enjoy the good things about this show and live with the bad ones. And the only way to do that is for me to let go of the show we could have had. And this post is my attempt to do that.

Edit to add: Of course Pilot trailers always get changed I understand that. But I am more interested in this case to try to understand what got changed and why. Also trailer is what sold me on the show, more then the actual trailer did. I was sold on this show based on the feelings from the pilot trailer and the ideas it seem to be exploring.

Before we start:

I have always enjoyed both forcebook and firstkaho, I have enjoyed forcebook shows because of the two them even when the plot wasn't as good. This is not meant as a takedown on either pair

Like many others I wanted this show to break the brainded pairs. To finally crack the ceiling, let these boys act together multiple times, but also let them kiss other boys, let them act with other people. The show didn't do that.

But it did do something. It did put a crack on the ceiling. Let us not forget that despite the fact that everyone in the cast was willing, Not Me still didn't give us Gun with someone who wasn't Off. The fact that this show has so many different types of kisses between different actors is a step foward. And when we do get the show that breaks throught that glass it will be because Only Friends cracked it first. And for that this show will always be important.

Last point. I go a bit into Only Friends turning into a bl. Obviously I am not saying that BLs are a bad thing. This blog is basically all BLs at this point. What I am saying is that this show was sold to us as a messy queer ensamble show and that is not what we got.

Before we get into the pilot thoughts I will tell you my own personal biases because I want to be transparent about this:

It is my personal belief that the pilot trailer was written and conceptualzied with the old story, the one the team wrote before they got the brainded pairs. All the changes made to the story from the pilot seem to have aided the happy ending of the two brainded pairs.

WHETER OR NOT IT WAS INTENTIONAL the show ended up saying some pretty moralistic stuff. It is now my believe that it can partially be explained by the two storylines (the pre-brainded pairs one - the one I think the pilot trailer was hinting at and the post brainded pair story we actually have) mixing together, as in some of the conclusions (boston) might have made more sense in the original story and got kept anyway. THIS MIGHT BE WRONG!! I am just trying to rationalize what has happen for my own sake

If I find a way to hardcode the subs into the video I will edit and post the video on here myself. Now onto the list of differences.

There are no obvious lesbian characters in the group in the pilot trailer. That would explain why they felt so tacked on. Because they are. As in they obviously weren't part of the original concept.

The gang is all in the same faculty, and seems to be all already friends with each other. Side note this pilot trailer sold me on their friendship (especially Mew and Boston's friendship) much faster and better then the show ever did.

ONE OF THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCES: The pilot seemed to hint at Top and Boston having an actual secret relationship. That is enthustic, goes on for a long time and it is actively cheating.

Pilot trailer Top seems to be the player only in it to get Mew V card that everyone read actual Top to be. When the Top we got was a lonely poorly executed traumatized character that quicky became a simp for Mew. Granted I believe they were going for, initially he was there just for that but then he fell in love with him even in the pilot trailer. But still.

Camboy Nick >> I am reminded of Den saying what I can't say in Only Friends I will say in Playboyy

The fact that Mew is a virgin seems to be a suprise and something that Mew is not totally opposed to changing (at least that is the vibe I am getting)

Boston actually sets up Top and Mew, probably for a One Night Stand and not dating, but they end up dating anyway. Not just introducing him to the group and Top does the rest.

Sand and Ray have a conversation at the bar that they still have in the show. THE: If you want us to stay friends then no sex one.

Boston is a much bigger asshole to Nick in the pilot trailer then he actually was in the entaire show.

Ray's crush on Mew was not as obvious and seemingly much more of a secret. Mew seemed to be figuring out while he is already dating Top.

Again Top and Boston seem to have an actual friends with benefit relationship, whether it was while Top and Mew were dating or prior I can't tell.

Ray and Boston confrontation about Top is different. And seems to be impling a less rich background for Boston. IDK.

I think Title's character might have been Sand's friend in this version.

Sand is angrier more cynical and much more jaded. Ray might have been even more of an asshole in this version. Title's character is saying to Sand's "Don't let him do this to you" while Sand has bruises. Right before the Bat shot

Nick tells Boston, without you everyone would have stayed friends. It makes the thing the group was going to fall apart much more then it did. And again Nick and Sand seem to have been part of the group already.

Yo calls Mew's friend shitty. Implying a much bigger role as the group's mentor.

The confrontation between Boston and Mew echoes the pool scene but I actually like this better. It is much more clear and more obvious that Mew is actually in the right here. This version of Boston matched Mew and Top together and probably continued having sex with him.

The Dancing on the roof scene. >> I still love that

Ray gets arrested. The addicon story was proably already there, although it doesn't feel as strong. Ray didn't look as always drunk in those scenes then he did in the show.

We see at least one scene of Mew and Boston taking care of Ray.

Ray-Mew-Boston seem to be close to Yo (again giving the Yo was a bigger character and a mentor vibe).

There is a girl in the trailer, that is probably Cheum, or a version of her anyway. In only a second, and not with the rest of the boys.

Nick was the one that recored he and Boston fucking. > This they gave to Gap (Drake's character)

Top's insomnia and sleeping pills are also in the trailer.

A version of the Mew-Ray bath scene is in the trailer, although Ray is much angrier and less cathatonic.

Mew as glasses for the all thing >>> personal gripe.

Putting that list together what I was left feeling (again maybe this wrong, I don't know for sure this is just my impression) is that Sand and Ray were ment to have a much more "realistic" romantic relationship with an addict. This Sand doens't strike me as the kind of character that wasn't going to fight back all I am do but at least my owner loves me. See baseball bat. That Mew "revenge era" might actually be more dangerous (instead of throwing Boston in a pool, he straight up starts to beat the crap out of him) and Most importantly Boston is so much more of an asshole in this version.

Yes Boston still get recorded seemingly without his cosent (Not sure). But he is actually a much more clear asshole, he sleeps with Nick and then says I'll call you while getting dressed (much less clear then Show Boston, even if Boston was leading Nick on a bit). Boston sets up Top and Mew and gives the vibe they were still sleeping together when he did that. And probably for a while after.

The friendship group was a trio and as mentioned, sold me much faster on their friendship. The fact that Sand and Nick were in the same group as well, and Nick cares about the friendship breaking tells me that it was going to matter much more then it did in the show. It gives the vibes there were going to permenant consequences.

The biggest thing that I got from trailer is a sort of confirmation of what I already suspected.

The actual show started to have the SandRay story and Ray rehabilitation storyline took center stage. Wheter or not this is because a lot of Top and Mew and TopMew senes got cut, I don't know. But they have the most amount of screen time, the most completed arc and the most clear happy ending.

While the Pilot trailer actually focused a lot on Boston-Mew-Top and Ray's crush on Mew.

Another thing the pilot trailer did is basically made me believe we were doomed from the the start. The last scenes are all shots that had already been in the trailer of SandRay being happy, TopMew being cutsey and BostonNick breaking up. It doesn't strike me as an accident that SandRay end the trailer in one the their happiest scenes in that entaire thing. Even when the Pilot trailer implies that Ray actively physically hurt Sand (again bruises, baseball bat, don't let him do this to you) it just has the vibe that Ray was meant to be a much more toxic character. And they ended the pilot trailer basically reassuring firstkhao shippers with their cutest scene.

I don't know if this accomplished something. Or even what I am ultimatly trying to say baside this: I want the show the pilot trailer promised me, I want to see what the show could have been with no brainded pairs.

i actually kinda imagine him opening his mouth like a snake would since he's no longer a human (w a pic below). but in the beginning, when he's still merging with the snake god, he'd probably start tearing his, ah, meals apart, yeah. i actually don't think his transformation was actually completed by the time he started his initial rampage + he wouldn't have any arm when he first started out too.

im actually kinda stumped on how to continue this one mainly because of the breeding kink being the primary focus and the reader initially being gn. i feel iffy doing this to my fellow gn readers as well, as i don't wish to exclude them and i don't think im that good of a writer to pull off a gn smut.

i could just do two versions tbh because its a little different between if the reader is afab and if they're amab.

if afab, theyre actually kinda in for some bad time because there's so many males around, possibly around 30 to even 50, and there's a lot of dp to go around because they're sharing them.

if amab, there's not many females around at all, maybe around 4 young adult ones (with the rest being old ladies), though that's not to say the males wouldn't touch them because they def would though lol but i kinda imagined that being amab they wouldn't be in too high of demand and would be given breaks. plus, they don't have to worry about getting pregnant.

i'll take feedback regarding this matter though, so lmk your thoughts on how i should proceed!

I'm a huge cat person. I currently have only one cat, Ra, who is a lot of trouble, but I love him to bits anyway 🖤 I'm also hoping to be able to start volunteering at one of the local cat shelters soon!

I've recently graduated from uni and started to work, and this is what I've discovered so far: I think I'm pretty decent at my chosen job, I fucking hate bureaucracy more than I thought it was possible, and I really need a proper day off.

I did my thesis in jail (as in I had an internship there to collect the data to write it xD)

PLOTTING / WINGING IT / MEMES: I'm very partial to plotting. I like creating long-term storylines, dynamics and arcs / verses. It's important for me to plot at least the general idea for first interactions especially, because it helps me getting an idea of what the other person is looking for.

MULTI OR SINGLE: Definitely multi-muse. I've tried all the possible formats during my time on Tumblr and I find that having a multi-muse is the one that works best for me. It allows me to focus on my main interests as they come and go without hopping blogs or neglecting certain RP partners in favour of others. Plus, I enjoy the variety, so this way I can always have something to write even if I have no inspiration for that one specific muse.

LEAST FAVOURITE FACECLAIM(S):  I don't have one? 🤔 If the muse has a canon FC, I tend to stick to it. Otherwise I either don't bother with finding one or pick it basing myself on physical resemblance. Tbh, I'm so very NOT up-to-date with what this or that celebrity / writer / whatnot does, so I have no idea of who the "problematic FCs" are supposed to be.

FLUFF: I enjoy fluff...with some moderation. It's usually my go-to, together with crack, when I'm brain-dead or want to write but don't have enough inspiration to come up with something juicy. Though, since very few of my muses can do unprompted fluff, I usually need to have an already established dynamic of sorts to be able to write it.

ANGST:  Angst is definitely my favourite thing to write among these three and one of my faves in general too!

SMUT: I'm not a huge fan of smut and I never write it for the sake of it. Sex scenes have to be part either of a bigger, structured plot or of a well-developed dynamic. Also, they need to add something either to the characters' relationship or to the story. I'm also very selective with the people I agree to write smut with, because I'm very picky about how it's written. I tend to get bored with it real quickly if it doesn't meet my criteria xD

BEST EXPERIENCE : seeing the results of continued interaction and plotting toward dynamics. feeling the general shift of my muses toward other muses and being like hey let's go bug them because they enjoy the company of that specific muse/blog. hitting that stride with someone else, where you both are on the same wavelength regarding your muses. sometimes it happens quickly, other times over the span of months and years of following one another. it's such a sweet moment seeing all the hard work of writing / plotting / interaction with someone and watching your muses growing together or reaching that sweet plot point you've been building up to. c:

RP PET PEEVES / DEALBREAKERS : lack of matching energy. if i plot with you and don't get anything back, that's one of the biggest dealbreakers. i will pull the weight for my muse(s) but i am not doing it for you. i like to think im pretty flexible in terms of letting it a slide in the beginning bc we're still figuring each other out and acting like awkward turtles but if i continue to feel that lack of energy then we're going our separate ways. i only have so many spoons to spend on here and i wanna make sure i enjoy them. also it frustrates me a lot when im asking questions, trying to get things going and just getting one word answers. i start thinking it's me and im doing something wrong. that never leads anywhere nice for mental health so, yep.

also lack of interaction. i have it in my rules if we don't interact generally within the first month then i will unfollow. again i let this slide sometimes bc life gets busy and we got all life to deal with. with that said, i generally try to reach out either by sending a DM or ask.

MUSE PREFERENCES: honestly i enjoy the softie characters and watching them grow into themselves and finding themselves. but uh i really only have one softie. the rest of them are assholes and sunshine assholes. so maybe my preference is assholes. idk. they just gotta call to me and i gotta feel for their story. yanno? or like their ship LOL

PLOTS OR MEMES : i generally prefer plotting, but not lot of it. i like to a get a general gist of direction then leaving everything else open-ended. bc really the muses sometimes don't follow the plan and i fully support following them into whatever problem their track wreck self is heading toward. i like memes, but sometimes i don't. and that's all me bc i want all the interactions to have some kind purpose, to keep building and developing our muses. but i know that's unreasonable expectation to have. plus memes are totally are great for exploring potential ideas, working out of the norm, and feeling each other out! so yess they're good but also sometimes i feel they don't go anywhere and im like did i waste time writing that? the answer is no, bc it's practice, it's a chance to explore. but can't help the way you feel at times.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES : generally short replies, i like the quickness to them. however i do enjoy long ones when they start to dig into the muse and pick apart their thoughts.

BEST TIME TO WRITE : who knows. generally it's the weekend bc that's when i don't work. also when im reading. if i go time without reading a book of fanfic then my writing insp is going to suffer. sometimes i can pull out replies during the week but that is raaaare.

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have?

Interesting story with Akio's origin, when first starting the blog Akio was actually a collaboration between a very old friend of mine and me. I unfortunately haven't talked to them in a very long time, but the idea was to create a character that could grow to become a more "Hero" type character. At the time, there was quite the lot of OCs who had unique stories, but none of them really had any heroic bits to them. So during Akio's draft, I picked a bunch of my favorite characters to design his personally. The two main characters being Zack Fair from FF7 Crisis Core and Roxas from Kingdom Hearts 2 specifically, Makoto from Persona 3 was also the reason Akio is blue/ocean-themed. So over the course of the years, Akio became a character I am proud to have written. Plus, it gave me a chance to meet a lot of wonderful people!

is there anything you don’t like to write?

Nothing in particular comes to mind out off the top of my head that isn't just common things. Like sudden gore related scenes or scenarios that might be more sensitive to write about, I have written such things before, but it is better to have a proper talk beforehand.

is there anything you really enjoy writing?

Oh, I adore writing action scenes with Akio. It gives me a chance to express Akio's energy and skill in a multitude of ways, but while writing his own skills is fun by itself. I love to add references to other characters assisting him in other ways. It helps to solidify how the connections and friendships he has made helped him grow stronger.

how do you come up with headcanons?

Music is often my main factor when it comes to writing Akio, while I never really had the time to dedicate myself into drawing, I took it upon myself to better my writing instead. With the help of music and even some game scenes, it inspires me to add things to Akio's character and style.

do you write in silence or do you play music? 

I have specific tracks for Akio when I write him, a more casual scene can be written easier with the track [A seafarer's skills - Bravely Default 2]. While come combat oriented ones can be split between Akio's chaotic and heavily stylish combat with [Intervalo I theme - Limbus Company] and, surprisingly, the more serious fights or scenes with either [Chesed's Theme - Library of Ruina] or [It's Going Down Now - Persona 3 Relaod]

do you plan your replies or wing them?

I usually think out my replies, which can cause them to take a while to come out. Ironically, some of my best replies and short stories come when I let myself get lost to whatever I am listening to and just let Akio take over. Usually happens late at night.

do you enjoy shipping? 

Akio is canonically married to Asta [@halfliing-ormr] and he even has kids of his own with her.

But with the idea of shipping in general, I like pairing up Akio with other OCs or characters to see how the synergy works. While a Platonic bond is the main thing to go for, it also helps to bring out other sides of Akio that I usually don't delve on my own. Like a more in depth talk about his magic issues or his heroic tendencies, often bringing him trouble.

My favorites change pretty often actually, so BEHOLD! My list of games that I tend to recommend to people, and games that I keep going back to here and there:

Po.kemon Yel.low/Cry.stal/Em.erald (Yellow was the very first videogame I ever owned when I was like...5 or maybe 6 tbh yeah I started really young video games were actually a huge part of the reason I learned to read so well at a young age, and then Crystal and Emerald were the first ones that I was actually old enough to understand how to actually progress through and beat.

Pok.emon Stadium 1 & 2 (I still have my N64 and stuff SPECIFICALLY FOR THOSE, OG OCARINA OF TIME, AND DK64 OKAY?)

The World Ends With You & NTWEWY (Actually the og game might be my all time favorite game. It came out when I was but an angsty...god, I can't remember if it was in 8th or 9th grade, but you get the point. Anyway, because of that, the premise really hit home. Even after I got older, there were always new aspects of it that really stick with me for different reasons)

Dra.gon Age series (Listen. LISTEN. I know it gets a lot of heat, and YEAH there's a lot of problems with them. But some of the characters are just very near and dear to my HEART OKAY LET ME HAVE THIS)

Hol.low Kn.ight (*cue sobbing in "I love those goofy little bugs"*)

Bl.oodbo.rne/El.den R.ing (*cue sobbing in "I promise I'm not a masochist"* But also that lore though????? Spoiler-ish, but ER's stuff on madness and "outer gods" is what made me want to start fleshing out what's happening in the blog's current arc. Amyg.dala from BB is what initially gave me the idea for some things I wanted to include in Ezzion's other form when I first made them, too. not me outing how long I've had some of these muses for)

End.er L.ilies (Okay but listen. If you haven't ever heard of this game before? It's a little difficult, so I won't demand that everyone play it, but at least watch a playthrough of it! So good! There's one boss fight in particular that took me forever to beat, but between the moveset and the music, and the stage the fight takes place in, it's soooo satisfying)

C.ode V.ein (Again, shhhhhhhhhhhh. I know it's anime d.ark so.uls, but the story actually has a lot of really interesting aspects to it. Plus, again, and unsurprising to literally everyone, the characters drew me in orz)

FFXIV (I play with Kei a lot, and I'm attached to my little wol siblings, okay?)

Spi.ritfarer (This one is a fairly simple game, but it had me and Kei and two of our friends that recommended the game to us originally legitimately CRYING at a few points. It's pretty wholesome, but definitely has some really powerful messages to it, too.)

Lobo.tomy Corp./Lib.rary of R.uina/Lim.bus Co.mpany (I'm gonna preface this by saying that this series gets really dark, and fucked up really fast, so don't go deep diving into it if you're not good with that. But there's a lot of really interesting stuff lore-wise, and I love so many of the characters. Will also say that for the first two games I definitely love the story more than the gameplay at times)

I don't have a favorite song, so uhhhh, I'll just say that a lot of my playlists are primarily composed of video game music. I have a really wide range of music genres I listen to, from all kinds of different places, so I can, at any time, just whip out whatever songs suit the Vibe of the Day™

I also sing, like...a LOT. Like...A LOT, a lot. So I can also get really into broadway/musical stuff, and other things with really powerful vocals where I can just unleash the kraken regardless of my mood, usually. For example, I just got Kei really into Epic last week or the week before.

━ @manebloom ;; Funfact, part of why I picked up the Hunter slugcat from rainworld was because I wanted easier access to tossing muses over to furry blogs, namely yours! Thus, Hunter has an anthro verse which would slot pretty easily into Dandelions! Munkustrap, Rum Tum Tugger and Mistoffelees would also be pretty easy to make into anthro verses too now that I think about it! Cat v cat <3 Senpai in particular also has an easy 'in' to Dandie's mainverse by sheer virtue of being a Literal video game character, so her finding a funky game & it being Senpai's is very straightforward which could lead to an interesting dynamic, especially considering Senpai being part code part Mentally Ill Guy meaning he's just not the healthiest innately but could also lead to some interesting growth as they learn to deal with eachother since. well. unless Dandie pawned Senpai's game off to somebody else or overcame what guilt there'd probably be of permanently shutting his game off, they're stuck with eachother BKHGTBR

ofc, there's also my UT/DR muses! Chara, Asgore, Toriel, Kris, Ralsei, Jevil and Noelle all leap first to mind, with Toriel in particular radiating the potential to have an interesting impact in her life if given the chance. I do have higher muse for DR muses at the moment, but I also think there could be an interesting dynamic with Ralsei and Dandie, being so similar and yet so different in the same breath, and the same kinda goes with Noelle! Especially since by default, I tend to play her after the events of a half completed ( and in one verse, fully completed ) snowgrave run which offers an interesting aspect given her being a young girl trying to find herself through a time of hardship and anxiety and very fresh trauma, and Jevil mostly because I think it could be fun <3 plus, Dandie I've noticed sometimes gravitates to folk of their chaotic nature :]

And of course, FNaF verse has a very wide array! Monty, Spring Bonnie, Mangle, Marionette, Toy Bonnie, OG Chica, OG Freddy, Plushtrap, Vanny, I've a cavalcade of options to throw at her, should any gel in particular!

I do think putting her in a box with Kris, Frisk or Jevil perhaps might be interesting, seeing the WIP state of a UT/DR verse in their carrd! Andy the Apple might also be neat sheerly due to the odd corrupted 'existing despite not being supposed to' situation he's in mirroring a cryptid status. Potentially Modeus, Karin or Anatoly could also be interesting; Modeus because of their aspect as a demon, and Karin + Anatoly as being VERY tied to the forest & folklore by sheer virtue of their story ( essentially being about a group of people fleeing from a country take refuge in a cabin and slowly starving as a storm prevents them from leaving, with the owner of the cabin having ties to the baba yaga ). there's some options!!!

Dustfinger specifically stands out because in his case, he's a book character who was read out into modern reality and is struggling to cope with it in a world lacking the magic and fantasy of the world he came from, which could be VERY interesting and mesh very well imo with Noel!! I also think there could be something neat with Chica, Freddy, and Marionette with her, given how they're some of the oldest animatronics. Perhaps finding them out in the street after being scrapped between FNaF 2 and 3?

something with LN's Hunter or the Lady, or even Evren from Sacritice could also be neat, just based on vibes! Actually, Klaasje and Noel in particular would also be very fun, less because of the witchy aspect and more because just like. fucken girlbosses, i feel like Noel would like Klaasje's attitude or at the very least Klaasje would like Noel's BHKGBTR though, honestly Skullkid, Artemis, Ares, Hypnos, Zagreus, WD Gaster, the Doll, etc etc could all work n be very inchresting!!! Ranging from Skullkid following the same concept of a child lost in a forest becoming a creature to straight-up accidentally invoking Zagreus from the Underworld be it by invoking his name or via magic, they could all function vv well!! its verrry flexible!!

I always meant to do a self-indulgent navel-gazing post after finishing What Brings Us Together, but never got around to it. Honestly, two days before I posted the epilogue, I got some bad news that completely turned my life upside down. It tinged the whole story with bad vibes and I still haven’t been able to go back and read it in its finished state. But things are looking up now! This is not a post of sadness and complaints, more just self-indulgent musing and complaints. 

When I first joined the fandom (or really returned and de-lurked, I was scrolling through live journals and reading fic back in the 00s), my impression was that the level of activity in the Silm fandom was very low. I had a tumblr but it was largely abandoned after the Great Porn Purge of 2017 (right? 2017?). I’d found a few newer fics on AO3 as I binge read a decade of fic, but I didn’t ever just look at the latest fics. I found most new fic through bookmarks and most of the bookmarks I saw were fics written in 2015-2016 so I just kind of assumed the fandom was mostly dead. 

But I had an idea for a story! And I did a quick search and didn’t see anything like it, so I started writing. And it was easy: the words came, the plot flowed, I figured out characters, and I posted it. Who says writing is hard? (Me; I say writing is hard. But also it’s not. idk it’s complicated man) I also started up my tumblr again and started following a few Silm blogs. My goal in writing at the time was just to write my own version of my favorite Silm post-canon fics (a genre that had exploded in my time away from fandom), heavily inspired by thearrogantemu, bunn (not @ing them because I do not want anyone to feel compelled to read and remark on this ramble, but I still do genuinely recommend their works if you somehow haven’t encountered them yet) and The Starless Road.

I got the inspiration for Fair They Wrought Us, my Feanorian week series, and What Brings Us Together as I was finishing Evil Ex-Boyfriend’s Club and began writing them as I participated in other event weeks and exchanges. I honestly can’t believe how much I wrote that first year and I think I credit it to a lack of self-consciousness and the drive to get that first mega-burst of inspiration out and into the world.

I don’t know when that really started shifting. Instead of seeing the most popular ideas and thinking ‘how can I put my spin on this,’ I began thinking ‘what am I not seeing and can I write it?’ It was partly because my perspective had changed: the fandom was far from dead, and the works that were inspiring me were different. Now it wasn’t just me yelling into the void, I was yelling with other people in DMs. 

So, by the end of What Brings Us Together I was 1) very stressed about life events (plus the job was always a shit show and was getting worse) and 2) writing from a very different impulse than when I first had the idea. 

Anyway, all that has led to what felt like a very aimless past year in fandom. I thought for sure once I finished WBUT (still *hate* the acronym) I would write other stories in that ‘verse, but all the ideas I had had earlier felt flat and I felt constrained by my earlier choices. I no longer wanted a world where *everyone* was back. Before, I was entranced by the idea that maybe everyone could live happily ever after all, forgiveness was there for everyone, the bittersweetness of the Legendarium could tilt more towards the sweet than the bitter. Now? Not so much. I don’t know – some things are gone forever. There’s more I could say about how the vibe of forgiveness and love has soured, but that’s neither here nor there. And I brought Feanor back in my ‘verse! There’s no way even a mellowed out Feanor isn’t causing chaos, but I’m not particularly interested in writing it. I have something started and a few more ideas, but if I ever write anything longer it might be an AU of my own ‘verse (though not an AU in the classic sense, just another possible 4th age and onward treatment, also WBUT is not an AU thank you very much.)

Anyway, despite the aimless feeling, I hope I put myself in a position to have a better upcoming year both in fandom and otherwise. I left fandom discords that were no longer sparking joy (though I’m on that blessed app more than ever). I spend less time on tumblr, I created a twitter and make great use of mute and blocklisting. I blocked all stats on AO3 and live in blissful ignorance of how my work is received (though sometimes I still click in and get the warm fuzzies from seeing people I know in the kudos list.) Well, kind of. The outcome of that is that comments or the lack thereof stand out more. Oh well! I wish I didn’t care at all but if I was truly just writing for myself, I wouldn’t post it on the internet lol. And I haven’t even touched on The Show! I can’t believe that was just a few months ago. No further comment. 

Next year who knows what will happen? Fandom-wise I’d love to read more, write more, participate in event weeks, maybe start my OWN event week (maybe?!?) but I don’t want to get ahead of myself when I’m still pretty unenthused about… well a lot of things in life and fandom. MULTI OR SINGLE MUSE: I used to do a multi-muse here on Tumblr, but I wasn't vibing with it and decided to switch to a single-muse. Since then, I've decided to stick with single-muses blogs. I do have a multi-muse on a different platform where I can easily put my energy into any muses I can't put into Tumblr. Just because there will be ten million blogs of mine running around.

Nice to see you more active lately! I recognize your blog name on my dash cause you’ve written some of my favorite adult Zadr fics! Truly incredible works and a great story. The way you write their dynamic is so so good.

Thought Id send a greeting and ask how is life generally. Also you mention in your bio you might do some rambles about Dib and Zim so I thought I’d ask if you have any ideas you’d like to share?

Aww, thank you! I really appreciate that. 🥰 I had such a good time writing those fics, I hope my brain allows me to return to the Invader Zim universe in the future. (Fickle thing, my writing muse.)

As for Dib and Zim, I can give you a fanfic idea I’ve been thinking about for ages but I don’t know if I’ll ever do anything with.

I’m not sure how familiar you are with Gravity Falls, but multiple dimensions exist in the show, and one version of Gravity Falls that exists in the extended canon is nicknamed “A Better World” (major spoilers contained in that link), and I have thought a lot about setting a Invader Zim/Gravity Falls crossover in that universe.

(Again, major spoilers ahead for Gravity Falls)

The main idea being that after high school, Dib applies to Ford’s International Institute of Oddology and is immediately hired. Dib does this partly because he loves that Ford is a well known and successful scientist that deals with the paranormal, and partly to spite his father, because Membrane absolutely hates Ford and thinks he’s a fraud lol.

And while Dib is a little nervous to go all the way to Gravity Falls at first, (what will happen if he’s not around to foil Zim’s plans!!) Zim ends up following him and setting up his base in the Gravity Falls woods because he equally doesn’t trust Dib teaming up with another paranormal researcher, plus he rapidly gets bored af without Dib around to be his rival.

Of course Dib tells Ford all about Zim, and while Ford believes him that Zim is an alien, he doesn’t think that Zim is an immediate threat, so agrees to keep an eye on him, but won’t drag him in for containment until he proves to be a danger. Instead, he convinces Dib to use this as an opportunity to build up research on how paranormal beings and aliens integrate into human society (convincingly or not).

Zim, meanwhile, might start to realize that he’s in a bit over his head when it comes to Gravity Falls and its inhabitants. Real gnomes?! The Hide-Behind, magic, minotaurs, unicorns?!

Of course, because I’m me, the fic would ultimately end up zadr (probably through some joint close-calls while dealing with the supernatural wildlife in the forest, or a tussle ending up with the both of them falling into the Bottomless Pit for an hour with nothing to do but talk to each other.)

I also love the idea that eventually, Zim just goes without his disguise in GF because all the townsfolk there are so used to the weirdness at this point that they don’t even blink. “Oh yeah Zim, Dib’s alien boyfriend. He’s a bit shouty and rude sometimes but he’s alright.”

But yeah, it’s a concept I’ve had floating around in my head for ages, but haven’t solidified enough to commit to.

1. when are you usually online?  

I have a window of a few hours in the morning and afternoon! Then very late at night if I’m not streaming that day - which happens thursday-sunday!  I’ll lurk from time to time though, but I try hard not to be on here all the time, even though I work from home. It used to be very easy for me to get into the habit of scrolling and scrolling and refreshing every couple of minutes so now I’ve just, you know, learn to just not have the tabs open

2. what verses are you involved in outside of this page? 

I’ve just started! But I think I’ll be doing a whole lot in his future verses, since I expect his story will end completely by the time he hits 16... or maybe even 17? But expect a LOT of verses to come the further we get into the current arc!! 

3. what is your biggest RP pet peeve? 

the lack of communication. the using, block evading when I have statcounter and can see you there  - a lot. I feel like being on here for so long has made me a bit jaded in some ways. I’m a little less trusting haha. There’s a lot of little things to be honest, so little that they aren’t really worth mentioning. OH OH people getting mad that asks or threads aren’t answered right away, or equating muse feelings for ooc feelings, you know? annoyiiiiiiiiiiiing 

4. are you drawn to specific types of muses? 

I would say so - looking at Qistina and Yuji I would say I’m drawn to very morally grey muses who stick to their beliefs and will do the most to get to where they want to be. Both she and Yuji are on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to grey-ness, but it’s definitely something that I notice and like to latch on to. 

5. are there recurring themes in your writing that people might not notice? 

There’s a lot over on qissy’s blog, but since I don’t have too many threads on this one rn, I’ll just say that I tend to include things from past threads, foreshadowing, the theme of humanization and understanding morality against the greater good - I can’t wait to really dive into him!

6. what are your favorite RP trends? 

the dash games/dash commentary. It’s really cute and it brings us all together as pals :> Plus, it can give us some insight into these little muses we’ve come to love so much. 

7. what is your process for starting a new story with someone?  

Checking in to make sure they’re cool with everything ~ talking about the process of things just to be sure we’re all on the same page in terms of where we want the muses to go! Foreshadowing and all that. Though there have been times, even recently, where people have forgotten what our plot or muse relation was ... which was a bummer! But I’m doing my best over here! 

8. how do you feel about duplicates? 

You know, I did have a very icky feeling about duplicates due to theft and general nastiness from the other person :/ but I feel like it’s pretty chill atm!! Though, I still don’t like the idea of being compared so... please don’t :)

9. how long have you been involved in roleplaying? 

About 12 years! Very much.... a longass time. 

10. is there a muse or verse you wish you could write in, but haven’t?

I would probably write Maki if my muse for Yuji wasn’t so big. Maybe in the future when my work doesn’t own me, I can give her a fair shot!
