our two designs for zenith! he’s had a lot of changes, particularly to do with his role in the story

let’s start with his first outfit. in this universe (and in this point in the story), zenith is a well known influencer, model and overall personality. therefore, we gave him some cyberpunk influences, and very vibrant colours (though sticking to his original palette). you may notice his eyes are covered- that’s an important detail and fits in with his powers.

the second outfit is what he wears as leader of the infernal cult and hopeful third augur. it always bothered me how zenith never got an outfit more inspired by his position and legendary, so we amplified the colours to a royal red and purple, overall making him look rather extravagant

he’s also very gender non conforming in my version :) a lot of the characters are queer in some way haha

It's so funny to me how many weird similarities there are between Pokemon Insurgence and Pokemon Unbound. Like, even beyond the surface level comparison of them both being edgy but well-regarded fangames that are packed with features and known for their difficulty. I'm just gonna list out what comes to mind (SPOILERS FOR BOTH GAMES UNDER THE CUT).

At the start of the game, you are asked how "mature" you want the story to be; Unbound removes this in version 2.0, but in both cases, if you choose the mature story option, people die.

In both games, you explore the region that Kalos was at war with 3,000 years ago in the backstory of XY. This is revealed later on in Insurgence, but it's part of the opening exposition in Unbound.

You are the child of a legendary Pokemon trainer who was famous throughout the region and had partnered with the Mythical Pokemon Hoopa before vanishing under mysterious circumstances; in both cases, they turn out to have been trapped in a pocket dimension the whole time.

You start out both games trapped in a secret base owned by a shadowy antagonistic faction (the Cult of Darkrai in Insurgence, and the Shadows in Unbound).

If you choose the mature story option in both games, a nameless grunt is incinerated by their boss's Houndoom before you even leave that secret base. This doesn't happen in Unbound from 2.0 onward, since the mature story option is removed.

One of the first gym leaders does marijuana (the second gym leader, Xavier, in Insurgence, and the first gym leader, Mirskle, in Unbound).

This isn't a parallel but I just want to mention that Xavier Mega Evolves his Beedrill with a Mega Bong. Make of that what you will.

Your rival in both games (at least, your first rival in Insurgence, since you have two) turns out to be the son of a major antagonist.

The third, fifth, and seventh gym leaders in both games specialize in Flying-, Electric- and Steel-, and Water-types respectively. This feels more like a coincidence to me, but I might as well mention it.

I wasn't a fan of Insurgence (aside from liking some of the Delta Pokemon designs), so I've been turned off from Unbound for the longest time because of these similarities (along with a couple other issues), but... I dunno, I feel the urge to give it another try for some reason. Don't be surprised if I start liveblogging Unbound.
