I would stop responding to these, but the sheer amount of people determining they’re not a scam is wild.

As far as I’ve seen, anyone asking for help through asks is a scammer. If you actually need help, please don’t ask through asks. If you do you’re probably going to get buried by scammers.

I am Kelly, My family is in danger. They are trapped in a city in Gaza called Rafah. They fled there because my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and the only chemo treatment she could receive was there. Due to a militia that is increasingly taking over the country and bombing hospitals, all of the disabled, sick and elderly had to flea to Rafah to get medical treatment. Hundreds of thousands of Gaza people fled out of Rafah earlier this week after the militia overtook the Gaza military. My family was unable to flee because my grandmother is elderly and sick.

As of yesterday, my grandmother, disabled aunt, aunt who is sick with Malaria and my two teenage girl cousins were trapped at the top of an apartment building that has been overtaken by militia. They are helpless.

My aunts are sick and they have been injured. My two cousins are just children. Please help my family in one of two ways.

If you've been getting these kind of asks in your inbox something along the lines of "Palestine" and a BIG tangent of their life but the blog looks fishy and the profile pic looks stolen? yeah that's too good to be true.

literally no actual person that genuinely needs help is going to directly ask a random person like you in your inbox, a real person that needs help makes a post in general with all of their donation links and never directly asks anyone.

Also majority of the time these scammers will steal real victim's pictures to make it look legit!!! Don't fall for it!!! Donate to actual places and real people!!! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

Here is the real GoFundMe page

Scammers on here (and possibly on other platforms, but I simply don't know for sure) continue to steal the story and images found on this GoFundMe and instead link personal PayPal accounts through linktree's titled "GoFundMe".

From my observations they mostly target ask boxes, and literally just copy paste their pinned post, which again, is just the stolen info from the real GoFundMe with the names changed. They also reblog Palestine related posts to try and make their blog more believable.

It is possible that other stolen stories may begin circulating

I've only seen Yasmeen's info being used, but others may start trying to use other families experiences as they start getting caught(if they haven't started already). That's why it's very important to investigate things like this. They spread like wildfire, and that's how scammers take advantage of real people in need.

I would say to tread very carefully and look for inconsistencies or things that seem suspicious. Like the linktree link. I have copy/pasted the entire stories into a search engine(which is how I found the real GoFundMe) to check as well. There are many more posts (much more informational, and widespread than this one) on the topic, and I ask you to please check them out. Please stay informed and aware of potential scammers, and think before you reblog!!

Please be careful of scammers such as the person mentioned above, they’re taking advantage of a fucking genocide, which as disgusting as it is unfortunately isn’t the first time this has happened. This person specifically creates new accounts every once in a while and copy-pastes the same ask about their mother having kidney failure.

Please verify any accounts that ask you for donations before you do anything.

Apparently, you can't actually use Paypal in Gaza? I didn't know that until I looked it up and apparently Paypal wont offer full services to people with Palestinian accounts (yikes)

Feel free to debunk this if you wish, but I find it very distasteful to be using the active massacre and genocide of a whole people for a scam, especially when the money gained is being taken from people who are in dire need.
