@ridragon submitted: she was in my house by accident, so i grabbed a strawberry from the fridge and took a bite so she could smell the juice and offered it to her, she climbed on it and I took her outside! it was terrifying. but i did it! after a minute she felt comfortable enough to actually eat too, i think the walking outside was kinda scary for her.
Paper wasps can be quite chill! This one is VERY cute and I'm glad she was safely brought outside to enjoy her snack :)
It's been a heck of a time recently. Just got over having covid, and I'm doodling to get back into practice. Some various Polistes faces because why not? I actually really enjoy drawing facial expressions on wasps, it's relaxing and therapeutic. The two species pictured are P. fuscatus and P. dominula. I need to pick my brain and think up some new ideas for comics. It's been challenging lately. Well, that's it for now. Goodnight! ZzzZzzz
Quick throwback to the first time I ever held a wasp in my hands (with the help of some honey), I believe about two years ago! I was nervous as hell at the time, but it was a pretty positive experience overall and wasps have since become my favorite bug ever :]
@zombievevo submitted: Wasp friends, would love an ID on both, found in Ft Worth, TX. Second little lady was captured in a cup from inside and safely moved outside a few days ago. Guess she came back to say thanks and grab some sugary snacks
I love them both! The first is a paper wasp in the genus Polistes. I think probably an Apache paper wasp. The second looks like a southern yellowjacket!
