Uhhhh you did about Soundwave’s glow in the dark ballsack? How does THAT work?
It started as a joke, but now it's my tf headcanon on how Cassette-Carriers/tapedecks are different from other frames.
Despite the name, Cassette-Carriers can't carry in the traditional sense. Their systems are geared to support multiple cassettes and can't retain a sparklet. The mechanisms behind that aren't well understood since that frame-type is ridiculously rare for some strange reason. They can't be batched ordered by Vector Sigma, but history is murky since the Quintesson occupation...
Cassettes aren't their sparklings but compact (and fully sapient) mecha that are dependent on a tapedeck to keep their spark and systems healthy.
As if to make up that deficit, Cassette-Carriers do, however, make excellent sires and donors as they have their own unique quirks that unfortunately built up terrifying rumors and nightmares as they have data-cables that act like tentacles and a keen hyperfocus to keep their sparked-up carriers hidden away and heavily prioritize their health that will eventually calm after emergence. They don't have that compulsion as donors.
The external reservoirs significantly expands their transfluid yield and storage. Transfluid is also a natural charge carrier, so combined with their own high-energy sparks, they're capable of covering more resource-intensive carriages across different frame-types.

For QuietShadow -- G1 - Sunstreaker/Wheeljack, Fast and Furious
Stop and Stare
Sunstreaker is only half the daredevil his brother is, and not even a fourth of the speedster, but watching Wheeljack zoom around the racetrack-slash-obstacle course is setting a fire in his undercarriage. His tires spin of their own accord. His axles ache. His engine thrums an eager purr.
He’s standing there, and all he wants to do is transform and join Wheeljack, damn the damage to his paint, to his alignment, the inevitable yelling Ratchet is going to do when both of them come limping back to the Ark.
He forgets, sometimes, that Wheeljack is more than a brilliant inventor. That he’s also dangerous on the battlefield, quick and flexible, and as much a tactician as Smokescreen.
If he wasn’t sure that this was the first Wheeljack has ever seen this obstacle course, Sunstrekaer would accuse him of practicing just to make sure he didn’t make a mistake. But this is the first time, and Wheeljack is flying through it with expert precision.
Sunstreaker’s engine purrs a little stronger. He rocks in place, resisting the urge to join Wheeljack if only because he’d rather enjoy watching. The spin of Wheeljack’s tires kicks up a dustcloud as he races toward a ramp, launching himself into the air, only to transform mid-way through the leap, tuck himself into a ball, and hit the ground, tucking his momentum into a roll.
He bounces to his feet in one smooth motion, vaults over one obstacle and climbs to the top of another, ducking at the last second to avoid a swinging, padded bar. Without breaking stride, he leaps down, tucking into another roll that has him on his feet and transforming back to alt-mode, tires spinning as he races for the finish line, where Sunstreaker waits.
Wheeljack’s engine roars as he guns it -- faster than most mechs would give him credit, the deep rumbles of his engine vibrating through the ground, tangible on the sensors in Sunstreaker’s feet.
Sunstreaker can’t look away, his vents shallow, heat rising through his circuits. He licks his lips, swears he can taste the dust in the air.
Wheeljack races toward him, zooms over the finish line, and then hits the brakes with a harsh grind of metal on metal that’ll have Ratchet griping for days. He bursts out of alt-mode, optics bright and vocal indicators flashing so brightly they best resemble a disco-ball.
“Phew!” he says, his winglets twitching up and down, up and down. “Think it could use some tweaking here and there to make it a real challenge, but otherwise, not bad at all.”
His armor is covered in grit, scraped in a few places Sunstreaker had meticulously painted and polished earlier that day. But his field is a peppery-sweet thing of excitement and energy, and Sunstreaker can’t remember the last time he saw something so beautiful.
“Ya think Sideswipe will like it?” Wheeljack asks as he saunters closer, half-distracted as he always is when he’s theorizing aloud. “Maybe I should add flamethrowers.”
Sunstreaker licks his lips again. “Wheeljack.”
His partner looks at him, head tilted, completely oblivious. “Probably not flamethrowers, huh?”
“No,” Sunstreaker says, and closes the distance between them in the space of a second, hands cupping Wheeljack’s face to press his mouth to Wheeljack’s mask, which whisks away a half-second later to let their lips meet.
A muffled sound rises from Wheeljack before he grips Sunstreaker’s hips and yanks him closer, his mouth opening, his glossa touching the tip of Sunstreaker’s briefly. His field fairly hums, and all Sunstreaker wants to do is drag him to the nearest berth which is a terribly inconvenient fifteen minute drive away.
“Guess you like the obstacle course,” Wheeljack says after a moment, his face beautifully flushed.
“I like you,” Sunstreaker says.
“Oh. Well, I knew that,” Wheeljack says.
Sunstreaker rolls his optics and kisses Wheeljack again. Sometimes, that’s the better course all around. And judging by the quiet moan and the way Wheeljack leans back into him, he’s hardly opposed.
