You looked at Draken. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt.. right? He is single and I’m single and what we did last night. You could honestly tell he was serious about the question he asked you just moments ago. He wanted a fair shot to show you how he cared for you. giving him a soft nod you agreed to the date “I will go on a date with you Draken.”
You could see Draken's shoulders relax a bit, the small smile on his lips.  The more you both looked at each other your lips gravitated towards one another. Something about his kisses was intoxicating; it drew you more with each passing second.
Your arms draped around his neck, and he pulled you closer to him. The soft moans escaped from your lips His hand reaching for your back side as he gave it a squeeze. He was tempted to place you on the counter and give you another taste of last night. The intimacy was something you definitely missed. Getting lost in this moment it was becoming hard to control the urge to be fucked right there and now.
The moment you heard footsteps upstairs you both separated not before he stole a quick kiss. You tried to compose yourself quickly. Your D/n greeted you both “Good morning Mommy and Kenny.”
“Good morning sweetie.” You smiled
“Morning kiddo.”
“Kenny you're here early,” she wasn’t used to seeing him this early.
You looked over at Draken waiting for him to respond. “I want to have breakfast with you both, sooo I came over. ”
You walked to your room and grabbed your phone. You hadn’t looked at your phone since you put d/n to bed. You had a voicemail from Ran. You finally managed to listen to the voicemail.  Sitting on the edge of the bed you could hear the bothersome tone in his voice. He seemed to really mean his words as he left the voicemail...A deep sigh came from your lips. Coming from downstairs you could hear d/n laughing. Going downstairs once again you began to prepare breakfast with Draken helping you out.
~~~~~~~~~~
Ran was on his way home, he hadn’t heard from you. He was contemplating calling you again but knowing you may not answer again. Rin was going through his email on his phone. An email that he didn’t expect to receive at all, after a bad business deal a few years back “Interesting… The Nishimura family  wants to set up a meeting.”
The Nishimura family was known for the connections of illegal weapons along with connections to the black market. The Haitani brothers were one of their transporters. Even running them in the club preparing them for the black market auctions. When they weren’t getting their fair cut of profits, it became a conflict. The bitterness of back and forth for the past few years, even them keeping a hidden stash of weapons from a truck that went missing. It became suspicious of the sudden meeting, when deals go south with the Nishimura the people would end up dead. It was odd that I wanted this meeting.
Ran wasn’t convinced that it was a business they wanted to talk about. But he was rather curious about what they wanted. “No meeting in person. Set it up online….I get the feeling that it's just more than wanting to make a deal.” Ran responded with his eyes on the road.
“I was thinking the same thing.” He responded. “Still are you going to be alright with doing this if they mean business.”
“Of course if they don’t fuck us over like the last time…by all means.I bet they were having issues with there other transporters.” Ran responded.
“That’s not what I’m asking…What if they find out about ______ and D/n. You didn’t have to worry about it back then now that they are both here.” He didn't answer right away “If it comes to that point where they threaten them… I will for sure put a bullet in each head.” Rin responded to the email and now just waiting for them to respond.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“I will pick you up tomorrow around 7.” Draken was getting ready to leave.
“Yeah that sounds great.” You responded with a small smile walking him to the door. “D/n come say bye,” you called out.
D/n came over to the front door, Draken kneeled down. “Bye Kenny! Thank you for yesterday.”
He gave her a hug “anytime. We can do something else soon, okay?” He rubbed the top of her hair. “Be good for your mom okay?”  she nodded as she ran back to the living room.
Draken looked at you, his finger going under your chin. Both of you leaned for your lips touching. “I will see you tomorrow.”
“See you tomorrow.” you smiled.
As soon as he left, you decided to get dressed. Checking in on d/n before you went upstairs. Getting undressed, as you were walking to your dresser you noticed the marks on your chest they turned purple. You remembered Draken's words from last night lingered in your thoughts. You couldn’t get over the way he touched your body. Snapping out of your thoughts you need something to cover your chest. Grabbing a crew neck fitted shirt that covered the indecent marks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Draken was pulling up to his home when he saw a familiar car parked in his driveway already. Letting out a sigh. He was already dreading the encounter with his ex-wife.  Parking his car he proceeded into his home. Opening the door he saw Emma sitting at the dining room table. She instantly turned her gaze towards her ex-husband. “Emma, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I’ve been trying to get a hold of you. Do you not know how to answer your phone?” Emma looked over at her ex husband.
“We haven’t spoken since the divorce you expect me to answer right away? I was busy.” he crossed his arms across his chest wondering how she got in. “How did you even get in here?” “I had a spare key, remember I used to live here?” she answered. “So where were you?”
Raising his brow “Don’t worry about it… You don’t need to know where I’m going anymore.”
She rolled her eyes, shaking her head. “You were with ________ weren’t you..”  Draken stood quietly “I heard she was back in town... she even came by the shop and then you left with her...”
“And if I was? Is that a problem of yours?” Draken was becoming bothered. “It's really none of your business what I do.” he sighed
She was hurt by his response. “So now that she isn't with Ran anymore you're trying to date her now or what?”
“Emma, you need to leave.” He wasn't going to answer the question. “I need the key.”
“Just answer the questions, Draken. It’s obvious you still have something for her…Even when we were together, I never really had your full love or we wouldn’t be divorced now…”
“We are divorced because we couldn’t see eye to eye on stuff even the littlest things would blow up into an argument... I don't wanna argue anymore Emma.” Draken now seeing why she came over. He knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. Even when they were all younger he saw how Emma would act around you. Even if you were blinded by her action at this time it was clear to some of the mutual friends.
When you first disappeared Emma witnessed the altercation with Draken and Ran. She could see once he found out you were gone he was trying to avoid his feelings about it. Shortly after getting engaged to Emma, they were married. It was great the first year then it started to take a turn. The disagreements would escalate and Draken would spend more time at the shop to avoid going home.
“Of course, you're done…. Some things never change… I hope you enjoy playing daddy to her daughter.” Draken ignored the comment. Emma goes into her bag pulls the key out placing it on the table. “You know if that is Ran’s daughter he is not going to enjoy you trying to take his role...If you're doing it to please her…. I don’t know what to say but good luck.”
She walked to the front door. He heard her car start and take off. The home was quiet as he walked to his couch laying down. Draken knew the issues that would arise if he were to start going out with you. In the end, all that mattered was him making you and d/n happy, that's all that mattered to him. Just because you had a baby with Ran didn’t mean he wasn’t gonna treat your daughter any differently. He took it as a sign things were going downhill with his marriage with Emma and now you're here.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I could have come another day…” Rin sighed trying to balance all the items in his hands. “Why the hell am I carrying the most?”
“I think it would be nice for you to see your niece since we missed her birthday yesterday…” Ran fixing his shirt “ I’m gonna knock on the door, hands can't be full.” The comment Ran spoke made Rin roll his eyes.
They were both walking up to your home. He needed to make it up to d/n and to you. You didn’t return his call. He decided to show up but not empty-handed. Ran rang the doorbell waiting to see you answer. Opening the door you saw both Haitani brothers on your front porch. “Hey beautiful” Rin looked over at his Ran smiled at you then at your serious expression. Just your stare alone at Ran. ‘I know that look,’ he thought to himself. “Hey ______ can you let us in this stuff is heavy.”
Opening the door for them as they both enter the home. Rin made his way towards the living room. While Ran stood in front of you, he placed the items in his hand on the side table. “______ can we talk.” You didn’t want to hear anything about what you heard on the phone.“Ran… go see d/n… I don’t wanna discuss it.” you placed your hand on your hips. You were avoiding eye contact with him. “Please go see her.”
He let out a low sigh, picking up the items on the table he walked towards the living room. The moment he saw d/n a smile appeared on his face. “Happy belated birthday princess.” He caught her attention. Bringing the rest of the presents to where Rin placed them. He scooped her up in his arms giving her a big hug. She hugged him back tightly. Still holding her “I’m sorry I missed your birthday.”
“It’s okay!” She looked at all the presents. “Are all those for me?” she asked. “Of course.” he went all out for his little one. Rin had to calm his brother down at the store because he would have bought everything there. Walking to the living room you saw him holding her  “But there is one for your mommy.” he spoke as he looked at you.
“Ran.” you looked at him. The gift comes from guilt and a form of apology. He knew you wouldn’t refuse it as your daughter was in the same room even if you were mad at him.
He placed down the d/n and grabbed the large box. ”This is for you.”
“Mommy opened it!” she excitedly said.
Feeling pressure to do so you removed the lavender ribbon from the white box. Removing the top of the lid. You saw the neatly black dress. Pulling it out of the box, it was a beautiful dress. “Oh my...”
“D/n do you think it is okay if I could take your mom to dinner so we could talk later on? Rin wants to hang out with you.” He looked over at your d/n ‘Dammit Ran.’ you squinted at him. Rin was just as surprised as you were, his brother didn’t talk about this to him at all. Just threw him in the mix. Another reason why he brought Rin along with him. You would have turned him down if you didn’t have a babysitter. “Oh yeah! Mommy you're gonna look so pretty!” d/n smiled You placed the dress back in the box. You notice the cut of the dress was deep in the front. “Shit….” you were going to have to try and cover up the dark hickeys on your breast.
Ran returned his attention d/n “Alright let's open up your presents.” A few hours would pass, and you started to get ready. Trying to cover love marks was going to be a challenge. Ran being infamous for leaving his mark on you whenever you had to attend something you would have to cover it up. Adding the color corrector to the marks you began trying to conceal with your foundation to match your skin tone.
 Ran and Rin were  with D/n as she was playing with the new items she gotten. Ran noticed a new stuffed animal addition that was on the couch. As he reached for it “D/n I’ve seen this one before.” “Kenny won it for me!” she smiled
Ran looked at the stuffed animal “He did now? Was it from yesterday?” “Yeah me, mommy and Kenny went to the Carnival yesterday.” Ran wouldn’t express it right now but it would be a bit bothersome hearing about Draken taking d/n and you to the carnival yesterday. Wondering if this was going to cause any problems with him trying to rebuild his life with you. ‘Isn’t he married?’  Ran thought to himself. He never paid attention to his love life. Because you were already Rans nothing else matters.  He was curious if anything else happened while at the carnival. “I’m glad you had fun.” He put a smile on.  He was going to end up asking you later on tonight. “Hey princess, why don’t you check on your mommy and see if she is finished getting ready.”
D/n nodded and Ran to the stairs to check on you.  “Isn’t Draken married?” He looked over at Rin.
“He and what’s her name got divorced a few months back, that's what I heard from Izana.” Rindou responded. “You think he is going to try and make a move?”
“I wouldn’t doubt it. If he knows ______ and I are not  together I wouldn’t put it past him…I will see what's going on for sure.”  Ran said with the thought of Draken even touching you was boiling him on the inside.
The moment they both heard the sounds of heels, caught both of the Haitani brothers' attention. It’s been a moment you fully were put together having your hair and make up done. Anything he was thinking disappeared at that moment. He stood up still, eyes on you. “Mommy looks so pretty!”
“Thank you sweetheart.” You smiled at you.
“She does.” Ran looked at you up and down. “We should head out for the chat.”
“Right…” you said. Bending down slightly, you held onto your daughter's hands “mommy will be back soon okay?”
“Okay mommy.” D/n smiled
“Rin, are you sure you can watch her?” You asked. Other than school and the one time your aunt watched her you hadn’t been apart from her let alone anyone watching her…
“Yeah it’s fine…” Rin said. “I will get an understanding on why she likes watching  weird things on tv…”  looking at the program she was watching.
Ran and you got into his car and began driving to the destination. It was a quiet part of the ride when he stopped at a red light. “You still take my breath away.”
“Ran flattery is not going to work this time.” You looked at him and then out the window. He was up to something you weren’t sure what it was. Your patience for him was not this short before.
“I’m just stating a fact.” he knew you were still bothered by him missing her birthday. He felt your demeanor change a bit from normal. The charming flatters seem to go over your head. The more serious look on your face planted there.
He was hoping the place he was taking you to would ease some of the anger towards him. A place where it held special memories for you both. Following him to the familiar restaurant. You looked around ‘it still looks the same.’  A place where you celebrate your anniversary every year. Taking a seat Ran began or the same wine you always had.
You felt your phone vibrate in your lap. Looking down you saw it was a notification from Draken, confirming if your aunt was gonna care for d/n while you both went out tomorrow. Trying to keep a poker face as much as possible.  Ran saw your eyes looking down as he asked. “Who texted you?” He asked, wondering if it was Draken.
 “It’s nothing.” You responded back before locking your phone .
“That little friend of yours I presume.” Ran spoke and didn't want to beat the bush around it. “D/n told me the three of you went to the carnival yesterday for her birthday.”
“We did. Our plans originally got canceled, remember .”  Adjusting your posture.
“It’s interesting she picked up the nickname Kenny for him too… how often does he come over?”
You could see where this was going by his comments. “She calls him Kenny because he didn’t like Mr. Ken, so he told her to call him Kenny .”
“Answer the question how often is he coming over?”
“Why do you want to know?” Asking him
“Dammit ________, answer the question. It’s rather annoying I have to repeat myself a third time.,” he spoke in a low discreet tone.
“He comes over every now and then. Are you happy?” You narrowed your eyes at him. “I honestly shouldn’t be answering that. Whoever I allow in my house is not a concern to you. I mean have I questioned you about who you bring to your home?” “I want to make sure and see who you're bringing around my daughter.”
“Wow okay.” You spoke in a low sardonic tone reaching for the glass of wine “I think I’m a good judge of character,”
“Sure you are.”
“Your sounding pretty jealous right now,”
“Well when someone tries to interfere with things I’m working on it becomes a problem to me”
“Oh really now?” Placing the glass of wine down   “Ran darling.. don’t keep me waiting too long…want to explain that?”  Mimicking the voice of the woman you heard on the phone. “Was that a problem that needed to be handled, Ran darling?”
He let out an annoyed sigh “it was a business meeting I had to attend too..” After that call the amount of anger he had built inside of him. Staining one of  his most expensive suits. After that phone call with you.
“Right right business meeting you tend to mix it with pleasure.”
“You don’t know what happened, it was  just business nothing more…”
“You're right I don’t know but hearing another woman on the other side paints a different picture.” you crossed your legs along with your arm “Whether it was business or not, you could have put it off if you wanted to. You told me how important her birthday was to you and wanted to be there to spend it with us.”
“It was important to me… you don’t understand ________ ,but Draken was there to save the day.”  he responded. “Always seemingly there.” you ignored the comment he made about him. “Did anything else happen?”
You weren’t going to mention you and Draken sleeping together, even the confession, or the date that was tomorrow it would send Ran into this unpleasant mood along with actions he may do.  “Other than enjoying d/n birthday” you wanted this conversation to be over with. You found yourself frustrated as the conversation continued on. “Ran, I don’t wanna discuss this anymore, it's done and over with. At the end of the day, our main priority is d/n. Not the issues between you and me…Whoever you see is your business, not mine because we are not together.”
He let out a sarcastic low chuckle and he slightly shook his head. “I’m assuming you think that will apply to me as well…________  even if we are not together right now, we have a daughter. I'd be damned if I hear my daughter call someone else dad or see you with someone else.”  His tone was more possessive than his normal calmer tone. He felt like Draken would try something with you. How his gut feeling would be spot on. Unknowingly the boundaries were more different between you and Draken. “I would love to see someone try and steal you away.” Ran locked eyes with you.
It was evident it was becoming much more than you can handle. Scooting your chair back “I’m done.. I… I can’t do this with you right now…”  Leaving the table as you made your way towards the front of the restaurant.
‘Son of a bitch...’ He thought to himself, flexing his jaw, the conversation did go overboard. Out of jealousy, he felt he could have made things worse between you both.  Getting up from his chair he followed you. “_______..” he called out to you but you didn't turn around as you made your way to the entrance. He grabbed your hand. “Ran let go”
“Look, things got a bit carried away….” the low sigh coming from him. “I’m sorry I don’t wanna fight with you, it wasn't the intention I had for tonight.” As Ran was trying to smooth things over with you. Rin caved into his niece, the counter had every condiment for a sundae out. Bags opened, jar lids opened, ice cream cartons open. He swirled the can whipped cream on the pile of ice cream. Just looking at it was giving him a toothache. When he placed the can down “is this enough?” he asked
“More please.” she pointed to a can of whip cream. “Okay then tell me when to stop okay?” He shook the can.
He proceeded to add more. It was a while before she “stop!” The majority of the ice cream was covered in whip cream.  He brought it to the dining room table. She ran to the kitchen drawer pulling two spoons out. “Here!” she handed him one.
“Thanks.” taking a seat he watched her dig into the ice cream.
D/n began to remember some of the small stories Ran would tell her about him and you dating.  “Mr. Rin, Mr. Ran said he knows my dad. Have you met him?” she asked.
He had the spoon in his mouth a bit thrown off in the question. “Oh uhhh yeah I know him.”
“You do?!” “Yeah he is a pain in the ass but I know him…”
“He is?!” her eyes widened. “Does he have a lot of pain in his butt?” she blinked in her eyes assuming her father suffered from butt pain.
‘Shit’ he said to himself  “no not really it's just a saying…I should say your dad doesn’t like to listen to anyone. Once his mind is made up he sticks to it until he reaches his goal.”
“Oh…Did he stop when he met mommy?”
“When he met your mom it was unexpected.” he began to think back to the day both her parents met “They met at a party, your mom is known to not pay attention when walking and would bump into people. That night she bumped into your dad, and your dad ironically didn’t want to go to the party but I dragged him there. They spent the entire time at the party talking.  When it was time to go, he drove her home and eventually asked her out on a date. He told me a few years back it was the best thing that happened to him.” Rindou leaned against the table with his arms folded. “One thing about your dad, when he met your mom I never saw him truly care for anyone else the way he did with her.” He could see the smile on her face. She had a smile that resembled a Haitani. ‘You definitely are your father's daughter, that's for sure the same smile as his.’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After agreeing to sit back down with him, the dinner was mainly quiet. Knowing tonight was just a mess for you both. Emotions were running a bit high on both ends of the table. You put your phone on silent not wanting to pick it up to have to question you more. Ran began to think about how to fix this because a part of him never wanted to show you how possessive he could be.
Getting to your home both of you entered your home. It was quiet and the living room tv was still on but no Rin or D/n. Walking up the stairs you find Rin on the floor using some of her stuffed animals as pillows. D/n was fast asleep. “She wore him out…” you quietly said.
“That’s my girl,” he smirked. Ran walked to the other side of her bed picking up the white stuffed rabbit that fell on the floor. He placed it next to her, covering her a bit more, kissing her forehead “Sweet dreams princess.”  He walked over to the other side of the bed, slightly kicking his brother's foot, walking him up.
Both Ran and Rin walk down the stairs to the exit. “Rin thanks for watching her”
“It's fine even if it was without my consent… But she is a good kid” Rin spoke, when he noticed there was some tension between you both. “I'm gonna wait in the car.”
Both you and Ran stood there in silence. The silence was finally broken from Ran. “I’m sorry for tonight again ____.”
“It’s fine…” you didn’t want to leave on a bad note with him. It would just make things awkward when he comes over “Thank you for tonight I forgot how beautiful it was to be in there.”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it to a certain extent.” “Message me tomorrow and we will set up another day for you to come over.”
He nodded that maybe a day or two apart would be the best for you both. “Of course… get some rest.”
“You too..”  giving him a half smile.
Ran had his back towards you before he took a step, he turned back around facing you. “I almost forgot something.”
“What?” raising your brow at him. With three fingers slightly grasping your chin he brought you slightly forward. In a quick motion you felt his lips press against yours. The sudden connection of your lips connecting to one another felt like time stopped for a moment. The brief kiss only lasted a few seconds. Ran pulling back seeing the hues of pink on your cheeks he slightly smirked, “Sweet dreams to you are beautiful.”
Closing the door quickly your back pressed against the door. Your heart was fluttering. It was like kissing him for the first time all over again. Taking off your heels you walked to turn off the tv when you noticed your kitchen light on. You realize the mess in the kitchen.
Ran walking to the car, a small grin on his lips as he hopped into the car. Rin was on his phone “We got a response.” Starting the car as he began to back up “What do they wanna do?” “Meeting online tomorrow…”
He nodded, “we will see what happens.” still on his mind was the kiss just moments ago.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following day,  you were at your aunt's house still thinking about the recent events with Draken and now Ran. You made your head spin slightly, you felt happy yet nervous going out with Draken today but also guilty because you were thinking about Ran. “You know if you keep making that worried face you will start aging quicker than you need.” your aunt took a seat next to you.
“Hmmm? Oh right…” it was hard not to think about it. “You think it's a good idea for me to go out with Draken?” you asked her.
“_____ that is not my call to tell you if it’s a good idea or not. If you have any doubt then you shouldn't. If not then you should.” she knew Draken since you both were younger. “Draken from what I remember he was a good kid even with the whole tattoo on the side of his head at his age. I myself don’t see any issue with going on the date.” You nodded “No harm in trying...Maybe I should try... I mean maybe I’m nervous I haven’t been on a date in years…” This felt like a whole new thing to you dating as a single mom. It makes it more interesting when you're going out on a date with an old friend that you were being fucked by a few days ago. Then you started to think about the discussion with Ran last night that made you feel like he would do something to Draken if he found out about the date. “It could be. Look I’m not too familiar with d/n father now but I know Draken. For him to take d/n out and you for her birthday was something he didn’t have to do but he chose to. If d/n likes him then I say enjoy the date.” Giving a relieved smile. d/n did enjoy hanging out with Ken too. “What time did you want me to pick up d/n?” “Let her stay the night with me, it would be like watching you all over again as a little girl.” your aunt smiled. “Enjoy your life while you are still young to do so. You never know, what if Draken was meant to be with you. You will never know unless you try.”
Your aunt's words encouraged you throughout the day as you began to get ready for the date. Your car was being serviced at the garage earlier today and it wouldn’t be ready till tomorrow. With the doorbell ringing you felt your heart racing like you just ran a mile. Opening the door Draken was stunned by your look. Both of you getting one another he helped you into the car opening the door and closing it. During the car drive, he felt his hand rest on your inner thigh, his thumb swiping your thigh. The date consisted of places you both enjoyed growing up from your favorite place to eat to going to the beach. It was hitting you both with so much nostalgia as you both reminisced about the good old days. You found yourself holding onto his arm. It was becoming late as you agreed to go back to his home for a drink. ~~~~~~~~~~
Mrs. Yamaguchi was doing her own little digging into Ran’s personal life even having some connections in the past. With the right amount of money, someone's lips (kokonoi) would spill your full name to her.“ Excuse me, Miss. Yamaguchi, we got the information on the woman you inquired about.”
“Thank you.” She received the paperwork from her assistant. As she was flipping through the paperwork her eyes widened. “What?!?!?” seeing a copy of a birth certificate. “A child?”  but remembered she heard the child's name before when he was on the phone. Things were starting to come to light pieces were clicking together.  “Interesting now, well it's starting to make sense.” Ms. Yamaguchi looked down at the photo of you and d/n. She began to compare herself to you, seemingly trying to find every flaw in the photo. She questioned what Ran saw in you? If she couldn’t see it then what did he actually see?  “We can confirm it's his actual daughter. It looks like they just moved here a few weeks ago… She may look like him but Ran does have a brother now they both look similar as well...” “We are just going off the birth certificate.” her assistant responded “I see… Well, she will know who I am very soon.” She smirked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Entering his home he flicked the lights on. This was the first time you were in his home. your heart was beating so rapidly.  “You don’t have to stand by the doorway, come on in.” he was walking to the kitchen. You walked into his home more seeing his decor. It did change slightly from the last time you saw his room in the brothel where he used to live. You saw a photo of him and Mikey on the wall from when they were younger. ‘How young they were..’ you smiled
Draken appeared from the kitchen in his hands were two beers walking towards you. “Here.”
“Oh, thanks. I was just looking and seeing how young you and Mikey were in this photo. How is Mikey doing?” handing a beer to you.
“He is okay, living his life. He is at the shop every other day.”
You nodded “Even after the divorce with Emma you both are friends?” asking him
“We are, I think he knew when things weren't working out but he didn’t say anything. Mikey caught onto a lot of things.”
Both of you sat down on the couch. You leaned on his shoulder “Hey Ken…”
“Yea?” he asked.
“You know we hung out everyday even had moments of being alone together when we were younger. Why didn’t you tell me?” asking him.
“It wasn’t that easy ya know.  After being friends for so long, I didn’t want to mess anything up between us back then. I was close a few times…. If I could be perfectly honest with you this time?.”
“Sure.” tilting your head up and looking at him. “I didn’t expect you to date Ran for so long. I knew Ran's reputation with the women back then and I did worry about what it might do to you if he broke your heart. I would be there to pick up the pieces. Time kept going till that day you just disappeared…”  Draken stood quiet for a moment.
“I remember hearing the stories about the girls he was with… It wasn’t always easy to digest some of the things I heard or mentioned I was just a number like the rest…He would tell me to ignore them but it was hard not to listen to them and their experiences with him. Even when he wasn’t around, in the beginning, I was referred to as his new little toy... I honestly was waiting for him to tell me early in the relationship it wasn’t working out…” you looked down at your beer. “Since we were being honest with one another back then when Emma told me she was in love with you I kinda stepped aside maybe because it was Mikey’s little sister and I didn’t want issues to happen since you and Mikey were close… the feelings were mutual back then not just one side… I just thought whenever Emma was around you seemed happier. You just saw me as a friend or like a sister. I thought she really made you happy.”
“Funny how life works doesn’t it? Just being with you makes my day.”
You chuckled at his comment, leaning off his shoulder you gave him a light push on his arm. He reached for your hand before you could return it back to you. He brought you closer to him and he placed his beer down. In the instant when we locked eyes, you could see the mischievous look in his eyes. His hand traveling to your hip pulling you closer he began to lean back bringing you on top of him.
“Do you have to pick up d/n soon?” he asked in a hushed tone.
“My aunt wanted to keep her tonight. She said, " I have to learn to socialize with other adults better, that’s what she told me...”
“So you're available then?” flashing a small grin on his lips. “A whole night to yourself? I wonder what you will do?” the slight taunting as his hand slides  underneath the back of your shirt slightly.
Softly chuckling as you leaned in, pressing your lips against his lightly “I think we can figure something.”
Letting out a content sigh. It would be evident you would be staying the night at his home. It started to get hot and heavy. The clothing trail that leads to the bedroom. Draken sitting on the edge of the bed. His cock was already stiff, he was trying to hold his composure in but having your lips wrapped around his cock drove him wild. “Hnnghnngg~.. Fuckk~.. Ahhhh~" Behind your long thick lashes you look up at him. “You're sucking me off so good.” grunting as he continued to watch you. No one ever sucked his cock this good before, his mind becoming hazy. He never knew hunger until he got a taste of you the first time.  “_________.” You slowed down your lips still around his cock. “I’m not gonna last much longer the way you keep sucking me off.” As your lips unwrapped around his cock “Lay back Ken.” He didn’t argue laying on the middle of the bed, his hand reaching for his cock stroking it until you straddled on top of him. You were in the reverse cowgirl position. Deciding to tease him slightly you began to grind against his cock. His cock goes between your folds as you slide back and forth. You teasing him this way was also giving you pleasure. You slightly moaned, your hands were behind you against his abs. “I'm gonna cum just by doing this~~~~~.” biting your lower lip.  You heard a groan coming from Draken, his cock is coated with your saliva and juices, lifting yourself up slightly with your hand wrapped around his cock you slowly slid yourself inside of you just like the first time you had to adjust to his tumescent size cock in your tight cunt. Both of your feet were on the outer side of Draken's thighs  You began to move up and down slightly doing a circular motion, tossing your head back slightly.
“Haah... Uugh.. Aaah~~” Draken was muttering, as you continued to ride his cock. You felt your orgasm coming in as you began to grind against him, stimulating your clit against him. Your painting was becoming more known to him. “Cum for me ______. I want you to cum all over my cock like a good girl. You're a good girl aren’t you?”
“Y-yes I’m a good girl Draken~~” you whimper. His hands reaching around his fingers coated with his saliva as he began to play with your clit more. “I’m coming.” you squeezed your eyes shut. “Draken, I’m coming~~~!” And with that sudden exclamation, your body tensed up, he could feel your clenching around his cock, your back arching from your sudden release, and your body felt light then grew heavy.
Draken brings your bare back against his chest, the back of your knees draped over his. His cock began to thrust upwards into your cunt as you were still coming down from your high. He could feel your juices seeping from your cunt as his larger fingers still toying with your sensitive clit. Your head leaned against his shoulder you could hear his groan mixture of curse words spilling from his mouth. “You are so fucking wet ______. You feel so good clenching on my cock.” His free hand turns your head towards him. His lips latched onto yours before his lips met with your neck leaving a little gift behind.
“You're gonna make me cum again~~,” you whined as the climax was already brewing inside of you once. Your legs began to close on his hands which were still stimulating your clit. Panting a bit hard the tension of your body was taking over. “I want you to cum for me again,” he spoke in a husky voice looking at you as he was picking up the pack and how slippery your cunt was only sending him over the edge. “Cum for me ______.” he groaned.  A set of moans escapes your lips as you're close to an orgasm. Squirming, your cunt clenches as your hips and thighs shake, you struggle to keep my eyes open. Just the sight of you sent Draken into a frenzy thrusting motion. The sudden release inside your pussy sent you both into an orgasmic bliss.
~~~~~~~~
Ran drove to your home at about 11:30 pm. He couldn’t stop thinking about you. Just the kiss he stole yesterday was on his mind all day. He wanted you and he needed to show you how much he missed you. When getting to your home he didn’t see your car. “Where is she?” he said out loud.
Staying in his car, he called your phone. No pick up….Ran began to wonder where you left and where you took his daughter. As it went to your voicemail “Hey doll, I just pulled up to the house and you're not home? Where are you and D/n at? Give me a call when you get this.” he hung up the phone. He waited for about 30 mins thinking you were going to come home anytime with a sleeping d/n in the back seat but your car didn’t appear. Ran was already starting to get something off now. Ran drove back to the club; his demeanor was more serious. When Rin saw him he wasn’t good. Thinking that he and you may have had an argument. His brother is going into the office. A few seconds later, Ran lit a cigarette walking to the small bar they had in their office. Pouring a drink Rin saw a cloud of smoke then his brother spoke “He is a dead man…I’m gonna kill that son of a bitch.”
To be continued.....

reo and rin possessive in opposite ways, reo loves flaunting what no one else will ever have (you) and (with consent) sends vids and pics of you to the group chat like it’s nothing, where as rin will literally kill anyone who dares to look at you for a second too long
AJHFAKFAAL ANON THIS COMPARISON IS SOOOO GUD BC IT'S SO TRUE !!!!! they're absolute polar opposites and tbh cannot get each other's pov for the life of them 😭 reo sends one of his s/o's thirst traps to the group chat and rin is like .. absolutely disgusted. why'd he do that. he imagines a similar situation happening with his s/o and it makes his eye twitch lol it just doesn't make sense to him... sees it as downright disrespectful in a way really even tho he knows reo's s/o is fine w it
reo is definitely a lil fucked in that head <3 loooves to flaunt u in every way possible. you're his prettiest little thing, his greatest treasure - it's a shame no one else gets to see just how stunning you are, isn't it? if you're okay with it and give him the green light, WHEWWWWW the rest of the team is lucky as hell !!!!! get to indulge on the mirror selfies of you in the newest lingerie set that reo got u,, sometimes get to hear your little moans and pleads from the other side of the wall :( cuz when reo wants you, he wants you now, and there's no point in wasting any time. he drags u to the nearest room and fucks you so good, there's still this droopy look to his eyes as you two exit the spare bedroom :( you're all over his socials as well, starting from daily lil pics with your finger getting into frame and ending on official event photos. really he just takes on any chance he gets to show how lucky he is!!
rinnie... oh rin baby :( i love him so much. he's crazy. he really is. he knows it's hard to communicate with him at times and he thanks the gods when you only give a playful roll of your eyes to his grumbling instead of getting annoyed w his antics. he just cannot help but get frustrated whenever he sees some article on you on social media, the comments downright disgusting because hello??? why would any sleaze say anythin like it about you when even the title states that you're the girlfriend of uefa's player of the year??? like yeah you're taken. he gets it - you're drop dead gorgeous, the most beautiful and breathtaking thing he's ever seen in his entire life (and he's seen a lot). and he KNOWSSS that he's the one that gets to see you daily, first thing in the morning, and that he's the only one to get the sweetest kisses and most sinful touches from you. but it's just unconscious to him sometimes </3 he glares at any guy who looks at you in a way that seems suspicious to him, even goes the extra mile to wrap an arm around your shoulders and pull you closer, until he can lean his head down and kiss you. he's not that big on pda, and whenever he does show you affection in public, it's most likely bc he's jealous lol. there's not many pictures of you on his socials until you get engaged/married and have kids (the media rly loves this whole family guy persona that they never thought he had to him lol and he's much less stiff on his sm the older he gets) BUT he does have a few pictures of you on the red carpet or some events in general <3 you look absolutely stunning and he's got no shame. posts u like he's your biggest fan (he is!!!!!!!) >_< also for the nsfw turn ........ he rly cannot make up his mind whether he hates the thought of anyone hearing your pretty little sounds or gets off on it LOL he's like, no just wait until we get home, baby, no way on some days but if he's particularly love sick, he has no restraints ! pulls you into the bathroom for just a quickie, it's not like any of the guys will notice - they're too busy celebrating by the bar, right??? he tries to reason w himself, but he knows they will notice and that they WILL hear as you whimper his name. that's the whole point really <3 feed his ego girlie he loooves it

HELLO HANA 🤭🤭🤭 here to annoy u again
anyway.. rinnie ko bas ek din ghar pe invite karna hai for a sleepover to see his face when he realizes ki woh tumhare saath same room mein nahi sone wala h 😭 and then he gets so pouty and you have to be like "sorry rinnie :P just my family...... they're a little...." so he's like ok (sad) and woh guest room mein sota h but then he gets a text from you at like 1 in the morning which says "be quiet when you come in <3" and he's already getting out of the bed in seconds ??????? ugh this man. and bonus when tumhare bhai/behen ghar mein rehte h because he's extra scared of getting caught 😭😭😭😭 and then after cuddling all night you have to quite literally push him out of your room at 4 AM bc he gets so clingy and won't let you go (how are u gonna escape from those strong ass arms ???) and you're whisper-yelling at him in the dark like "rin! go back to your room i swear to god—" kyuki mummy 5 baje hi uthti hai ... ☠️ bechara rin </3
Tumblr media
“rin... let go, it's almost 4 am!”
rin's hold on you is firm, it's hard enough to keep your voice low and close to a whisper-yell, it's even more difficult to wrestle yourself free from the embrace of his strong arms when he's very obviously determined to not let go.
“quit whining, you're the one who asked me to come.”
“yeah, like an hour ago. my mom will be up by 5! you and i are dead if she sees you leave my room at this hour.” you try to reason, hands going to push away at his forearms to allow space between you both, but to no avail. if anything, he just holds you even tighter.
“sounds like a you problem. first you ask me for a sleepover, and then i find we're not even gonna sleep in the same room. then i get a text asking me to come over to your room, and now you want me leave again? not happening.”
“bro,” you deadpan, “you're lucky my parents even agreed to let you sleep over! I'll make up for it later, but please go back to your room!”
you can't help but snicker as the events of earlier come playing in your mind— the look of pure horror on rin's pretty face as he learns he's not going to be spending the night with you, but in the guest room instead. the way he was shrinking in his seat as your siblings give him the side-eye everytime they'd catch him staring at you. god, he looked adorable pouting when you slapped his hand away from your own, in front of your parents.
but now when you feel him inch closer, burying his face in your shoulders as the warmth of your bodies cover you like a second blanket— you know you've already lost. you don't really want him to leave either, and there's a tremble in your voice that's enough to tell rin that your resistance isn't as legitimate as you're hoping for it to be.
“i don't care. your parents already love me. I'll win them over, now shut up and let me sleep.”
the hushed sweetness to his voice betrays his words, he's only threading his fingers through your hair in what you assume is an attempt to lull you to sleep. you take a mental note to not underestimate itoshi rin's ability to charm you with his words past 3 am— he's uncharacteristically clingy, being all soft and delicate, tentative and loving— the way only you know rin to be.
“my sister's in the other room, she definitely knows you're here.”
“that means we're already done for, might as well let it be.”
“god, you are insufferable.” you say, (begrudgingly) settling into his chest.
you can only imagine a satisfied smirk on his face when he breathes— the rise and fall of his chest slowing falling in sync with yours— and you feel it resonate with your own.
yeah, you don't really want him to leave.

Fruits Basket Another Headcanons: Mina Sohma Edition
• Mina Sohma was born via a surrogate to Momiji Sohma (31) and his husband, Megumi Sohma (28)
• Her birthday is April 5th (possibly in 2013-2014 if I did my math right)
• Almost as soon as she was born, Momiji began calling her "Mii" for short, which means "beauty"
• She is one of the youngest Sohma cousins, only being older than her own brother and Hiro & Kisa's youngest daughter
• As a baby, Mina was always looking around, smiling, and giggling
• However, she was not exactly an easy baby. Getting her to sleep at night was extremely difficult, and she'd often get cranky during the day because of it.
• It was a pretty often occurrence that Momiji would come back from the office in the evening to find his husband sitting up in a chair, cradling Mina against his chest
• That seemed to be the only way she would sleep, and it was always in the early afternoons
• Due to their work schedules, Mina was closer to Megumi than Momiji during her early years
• Momiji had to work long hours, and was often gone on business trips. Meanwhile, Megumi was home every day by 4:00, and he was always the one to pick Mina up from daycare
• When Mina was about 3-4, though, Momiji would occasionally bring her to work with him, and Momo would help keep an eye on her. She's always had a wonderful relationship with her aunt because of this.
• She was a very shy toddler, pretty much always clinging onto her parents or her aunts. • She did like most of her older cousins, but Hajime and Mutsuki frightened her when she was very young. Mutsuki was very loud, and Hajime was usually glaring.
• She grew out of this shyness after starting school; now she almost has zero concept of stranger danger
• she visits Hajime and Mutsuki all of the time, too, and Hajime will sometimes take care of her when she is sick
• Age wise, she is closest to Miyoko (Kyo & Tohru's daughter) and Izumi (Hiro & Kisa's oldest daughter), who are both roughly a year older than her
• The three of them have a knack for getting into trouble....and then getting right back out of it because they are so cute
• (Usually, Miyoko & Izumi find the trouble, and Mina just goes along with it)
• Ironically, they're also the three cousins most prone to getting into arguments at family gatherings ("Mina, you go play on one side of the house. Izumi, go to the other. And Miyoko, you go outside.")
• Although they are eight years apart, Mina was always very close to Riku and Sora. They both loved playing with her; Riku has definitely let her paint his nails
• They also both take her to the batting cages; Riku usually just cheers from the sidelines. Sora will bat, but she is comically bad at it, and Mina always laughs about her lack of skill
• She first got into baseball when she was about five. Her fathers had tried getting her into dance first, but she never really enjoyed it. • Still, she's definitely more of a "girly-girl" than a tom-boy
• Aunt Momo is definitely her favorite Sohma adult, but she also really loves Tohru and Rin
• On her other side, she also has Aunt Saki (she definitely thought her aunt and her father were witches, and thought that was the coolest thing ever. She was very upset to find out the she did not possess any powers like theirs) and her cousin Rio
• Rio absolutely loves her; that side of the family was not very big, so she was his first cousin. She loves Rio, too. They make bracelets together.
• Speaking of which, Mina is a jewelry making FIEND. Beads are EVERYWHERE. Both Momiji and Megumi have a necklace that they must wear all of the time because she made it for them.
• Her younger brother, Makoto, was born when she was five years old
• At first, she actually hated being a big sister. She did NOT like that her parents' attention was no longer focused on her. She would refuse to hold or play with her brother most of the time.
• In fact, she would even ask to stay with Aunt Momo just so she wouldn't have to be around him (and so she could be the center of someone's attention)
• It didn't take long, though, for her parents to figure out what was going on, and they had a conversation with her about the change in their family dynamic, but they also made sure to give her equal attention
• Now, she likes having a younger brother, and she's always trying to teach him new things or make funny faces
• Watermelon is her favorite food in the world, but ironically she doesn't really like candy or cakes
• She collects plushies, and Momiji always brings her one back from business trips • What she does like is hot chocolate. When Momiji comes back from a business trip, the two of them always drink hot chocolate together.
• When Mina gets older, she does join the school softball team.
• She does not follow her cousins to Kaibara, though, and actually goes to a very prestigious all girl's school nearby
• Her grades have always been very good, but she does get in trouble sometimes for being unable to sit still or talking out of turn/too loudly
• She has dreams to travel the world before eventually taking over the business of her grandfather and father

Chapter VI
MDNI 18+: Slight mention of abuse
2016
“Thanks Mikey, I’ll see you in 2 weeks.”
“Yep, oh by the way, one of the executives will be in later. Don’t ask which one, it all depends who’s free.”
I recline in my chair after Mikey leaves, cursing under my breath. My phone buzzes, a text from my fiancé saying he’ll be by later. Great, just my luck. Carrying on through the day, lining the clothes in order for the show, Taka comes by shared a drink, I tell him the plans and what Mikey had said during the meeting. I poured another drink and mentioned that my fiancé would be stopping by. If I thought Taka didn’t like Ran when we were dating, he definitely doesn’t like my fiancé. Things between us was rocky, he’d manhandle me and say horrible things. The only thing that keeps me with him is the fact that he has my family under constant watch outside of the house so I don’t run off. I sigh, checking the time, it’s after 7 as I stare out the floor to ceiling windows of my office, thoughts swarming my mind.
‘What if I left everything to Taka?’ ‘What if I ask Bonten to take care of my fiancé problem?’ ‘What will happen if I just disappear?’ ‘What will be the consequences of my actions?’
These thoughts all get lost when I hear my door open. The familiar footsteps coming closer it makes anxiety pool in my stomach.
“Sweetheart, I thought you and I agreed to meet in the lobby.” He grabs my chin with his fingers, pulling roughly so that I look up to him.
“Sorry, I forgot, I lost track of time.”
“Next time, don’t keep me waiting. What has that empty mind of yours occupied?”
“Just the fashion show.”
“And?” He looks at me with malice.
“And you of course, the wedding is approaching. And I’m still deciding on what dress I’ll pick.”
He motions me to get up, sitting in my place before maneuvering me to straddle him.
“You’re a fashion designer for fuck’s sake. And you can’t just pick any random one? It’s not like it’ll matter in the future.”
I stay silent, not wanting to start an argument, not like it mattered anyways.
“Sir, I told you, you can’t go in there!” The voice of my assistant slightly wavering as the door to my office opens swiftly.
Standing at the door, knob still in hand is of course, none other than Ran with Rindo right behind him. My fiancé looks startled for a second before anger is slapped to his face.
“Sorry darling, I forgot to tell you I had a last minute meeting.” I press my hands into his shoulders.
He stares at me for a second before nodding and getting up. He doesn’t even look at Ran and Rindo as he kisses me goodbye.
“I’ll see you at home sweetheart.” He says before finally leaving.
It’s quiet, all of us staring at each other before I make my way over to the small bar on the side.
“Would either one of you like a drink? It’d be rude of me to grab the file and make you leave after you came all this way.”
“Whiskey, for the both of us please.” Rin speaks.
I hand them the glasses, tequila in my own cup. I avoid eye contact with Ran, his eyes not leaving me.
“Rindo, how have you been?”
“Fine thanks. By the looks of it, you’re doing well yourself.”
I nod, taking a sip of my drink.
“Aren’t ya gonna ask me how I am Y/n?” Ran tilts his head to the side.
“How are you Ran.”
“I was fine, until I realized my first love wasn’t excited to see me.” He pouted. “Not to mention, she moved on.”
“Enough Ran, let’s drink and leave.” Rindo elbowed his brother. “These are the files Mikey sent.”
The next few minutes pass quietly, Ran’s gaze on me the entire time as I review them. They finish their drinks and I walk down to the front with them.
“Well, wherever you’re going, get there safety.” I say to Rindo, who smiles at me.
I walk to the awaiting car, the driver opening the back door to the black SUV. As I climb in, I hear Ran call out.
“No bye to me sweetheart?” I can hear the venom in his tone.
I don’t spare him a look as the driver closes the door and we drive off. Seriously, the nerve of that guy. I make small talk with my driver as I check my phone, a few messages about the show, my fiancé cursing up a storm and an unknown number.
Unknown: Let’s meet up tomorrow, 12 for lunch at the cafe near the office.
I ignore it, but then another message enters.
Unknown: Don’t act like you didn’t read it princess. I’m right next to you.
I look around, and spot a black Bugatti to the left. Ran rolls down the window and holds his phone up, smirking.
Me: You shouldn’t be texting and driving for one. And two, no. I’m busy.
Unknown: Yeah yeah, listen princess you either come willingly, or I’ll just have to drag you to the cafe. Your choice.
Me: I’m busy.
Unknown: By force it is then. See ya tomorrow princess.
Seriously, how did I stay with him for so long? I’ll just run around the building during that time, he won’t be able to find me.
-
I get to the office a lot later than I usually do. After I got home an argument started as to why I had 2 men come in and why they were there so late. It was like that for several hours before I finally left and stayed at Waka’s. I groaned as I let my head fall a bit too hard onto my desk. My eyes heavy as they shut, exhaustion oozing from me.
“Ran! I want that one! The backpack that looks like a bunny!” I clung to his arm, pointing to the prize above the game.
Ran had taken me to the fair for our 1st anniversary. He had covered my eyes to try to surprise me, but the smell of the fair’s greasy foods was a give away. We’d come to a ‘pop the balloon’ game that had a prize I wanted.
“You want that one princess? Ya sure?”
I nodded furiously, actually excited to get it. Ran laughed, his gaze nothing but loving. He grabbed the darts given to him and pops all but one balloon.
“Gimme a kiss princess, for good luck.” He leaned down, waiting for me to kiss him.
With a quick kiss, he threw his last dart, popping the balloon and winning the game. I squealed, hugged him tightly and littered his face with kisses.
“Imma play another 2 games, wanna get matching one for me and you. I also promised Rin I’d get him something too. So we’ll all be matchin.”
We walked around the fair, prizes in hand as we ate all the sugary treats and greasy foods. Hiding behind Ran when a clown came up to us, eyes heavily covered with red that made it seem more like blood than makeup. We jumped on rides and went through the mazes, Ran had gotten lost in the corn maze at one point. I couldn’t stop laughing for a solid 10 minutes, only stopping when his face held a blush. We made our way to the Ferris wheel, I didn’t notice Ran slipping a bill to the carny as we stepped forward. The sun had set hours ago, missing a sunset kiss if that’s what he had wanted. We sat, looking out to the view, so many people had come, all looking like ants. I saw Taka with his friends playing a few games, the girls next to him.
“Ya know. I seriously never thought I’d be so in love with someone. I’m glad it’s you.” He cradled my face.
Ran wasn’t one to usually act so sappy, but the rare moments he was, made me fall in love all over again. He wasn’t some scary gang member when it was just the two of us, he was just Ran. Nothing more or less.
“I payed the carny for a little favor.” He pulled me closer. “Wanted to get the right moment ‘n all.” He whispered, foreheads resting against each other.
“For what?” A bit taken aback, not used to seeing this side out in public.
“For this.” As our lips connected fireworks were set off.
My eyes had opened, lips still intertwined with Ran’s.
“I want to be all your firsts from this point on. And your lasts. So if it means I gotta be sappy and do shit like this, then so be it.”
I didn’t expect what came next. Ran had pulled out a ring from his pocket.
“It isn’t nice or ‘nythin, but one day I do want to marry you.”
“Ran you could’ve given me a paper clip bent into a circle and I still would’ve accepted.” I smiled as he slipped it on.
“Here’s to forever princess.” He kissed me again.
All the rumors, problems and inconveniences that had passed about us didn’t matter, nothing except us mattered. We were to be one in the future. A future that never came to be.
-
“Pr-s…” a muffled voice echoed through darkness.
“Prin-ess…” a warm hand settled on my back, shaking me awake.
“Princess, wake up.” I slowly blink my eyes open.
I lift my head, turning to the left to see who was waking me. Of course Ran, who’s face turns into one of amusement to one of worry.
“What’s wrong?” He bends down.
“What are you talking about? What are you even doing here?”
“You’re crying.”
I go to argue back but feel my face first. I had indeed been crying in my sleep. I quickly wipe them away, not like it mattered anyways.
“Bad dream. You didn’t answer my question.”
“I told you, I’d drag you there if I had to.”
“I’m not g-“
Ran twirls my chair to him, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder.
“Ran put me-!” I keep in a squeal as he smacks my ass.
“Ya gonna come willingly?”
I groan and agree knowing how stubborn he is. He lets me down and we walk out of my office.
“Mei, I’ll be going out for lunch, if my fiancé calls please tell him as such.” I rub my forehead.
“Yes ma’am.”
We walk the short distance to the cafe and sit at a booth. I order an iced coffee with a danish and Ran a hot coffee with a scone.
“Ya always sleep in the office?”
“No. Didn’t get much sleep, you know I’m an insomniac.”
“True, but I’ve never seen you sleep through the day. Especially at work.” He rests his chin on his hands. “Fine, since you won’t answer we can move on to the next question.” I feel my heart stop for a second, the question both making my blood boil and want to grasp at it. “Would you be willing to break your engagement off?”
I stare at him, dumbfounded. Quite literally too stunned to speak.
“And why would I do that Ran? To run off and be with you?”
He hums, and smiles the smile that tugs at my heartstrings.
“Yes. Or did you forget? I promised I’d be all your firsts and lasts?”
“Listen Ran, you can’t appear outta nowhere and expect me to run off with you. Especially not after our encounter all those years ago.”
“Y/n, listen I had good reason behind it-“
“And what was that? Ran you knew it was a trap and didn’t tell me. We were out numbered, I could’ve died, Taka could’ve died!”
“Listen, the gang leader was going to kill you both. He knew you and I were together, but that didn’t matter to him. At first, he wanted just him then it turned to you as well. I made a deal with him, leave you alone and I’d stay by his side for as long as he wanted. I couldn’t imagine imagine anything happening to you, it killed me. And I knew if you ever lost your siblings you’d never be the same. I wanted to regret everything I did but I knew I made the right decision if it meant you got to live. Then he died and I was free from the debt I promised. I was gonna find you after and explain everything but then I saw your face on a billboard and knew you were out of my reach. Y/n, you know I don’t do or even say shit like this. I’m being completely honest with you right now. I’ve loved you from the moment I met you. I’ve loved you this entire time. I never stopped.” His hand enveloped mine, his eyes holding hope.
“Ran…” I slide my hand away and place them on my lap. “I can’t.”
The moments my heart longs for, the sweet moments Ran and I used to have are long gone. No matter how much I might want it again.
“My fiancé is…”
“Tell the truth.” His eyes have darkened as if he knew I would lie.
I pause for a moment, wondering if I should tell him the truth to it all. I quickly look around the cafe and outside to make sure none of his men are near or worse, him.
“He’s horrible Ran. He’s abusive, sometimes in the physical way, but more so verbally and mentally. I’m scared to leave because I know if I do he’ll hurt them. This wedding is all just a part of his plan to take control of my company. I’m sure there’s other things he isn’t telling me, he probably plans to lock me away after he gets hold of the company.”
Ran’s face holds nothing but anger and darkness.
“Is that why you were crying?”
“No, it was just a dream. We got into an argument last night and he wouldn’t drop it. He broke a lot of things and I stayed with Waka for a few hours before I went to work.”
“You do know we can take care of this right?”
“Ran, he run’s a large company. How exactly do you think it would look if he just disappeared?”
“You really think people would question a replacement from Bonten?”
We share a look, knowing the answer.
“His security team leaves my family alone after we’re all in the house at night. That should be when you strike.”
“Got it. For now, you’ll be staying at my place, I’m not taking no for an answer. Tell him you got held up out of town and will be gone for a few days.”
“I do have work ya know? I have a show coming up.”
“Work from home princess you are the one who runs the place. We’ll drive to my place.” Ran gets up, fixing his clothes. “Oh before we go-!” He snaps.
Ran grabs my left hand, sliding my engagement ring off with a smirk. “Ya won’t be needin’ that anymore. But you will need this one.”
The smile he wears is one of sincerity and cockiness as he places a much more beautiful ring on it.
“Your giant ego hasn’t changed.”
“No, it hasn’t. But you still love it.” Ran snakes his hands around me, pulling me close and kissing me. “Mm, I’ve been wanting to do that.” He kisses me again. “Now, lets get you outta here. The sooner we talk to Mikey the faster our problem will be gone.”

How would you describe your relationship with your grandparents? (Mako!)
Family Questions!
Tumblr media
“Pretty good I’d think.” No hesitation, just a sun-bright smile from the caramel-haired girl. “I don’t talk to them anywhere near as much as I do my parents, and I feel a bit bad about that, honestly. They actually live in the country, though, so if I can get a day or two to grab a couple trains, I can pop by and visit them. I really should... Maybe next weekend...”
A pause, if only for a shake of her head to clear her thoughts; making travel plans in the back of her mind would just get her distracted! “Mmm... My grandmother is kind of stubborn, a bit like her son - My dad. She’s logical and thinks things through before doing anything, but she likes to have fun, too! The last time I visited, I remember a surprise slushie party; she’d gone out and bought a bunch of different flavored syrups and an ice shaving machine, and we spent the day experimenting and joking around. Grandpa’s on the quieter side and spends a lot of time reading and doing crosswords, but he loves hearing stories. Doesn’t matter if you’re just telling him about a trip to the mall, he wants to hear it. Probably why we get along so well... He’s always encouraging me to tell him what’s on my mind in full detail.”
She really needed to call them... Right, focus, focus~! “I’ve.. Talked to my Mom’s side a lot less, unfortunately. The one to ask about them would be my cousin, Rin - She’s more involved with them than I am.”

hiii i love your work and your asks are open so i was wondering if you could do napping with suna, osamu and sakusa as their s/o or something, thank youu 💞
napping hc’s featuring suna, osamu & sakusa.
Tumblr media
𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐀 𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐎
⤷ we all know this boy loves taking naps.
⤷ and if you’re someone like him who loves it too he’ll really think he hit the jackpot.
⤷ because ever since the two of you got together he finds it difficult to sleep without you.
⤷ so even when he’s napping it’s nice to have you by his side.
⤷ he’s one of those people who say a bunch of funny stuff in the process of falling asleep.
⤷ and you guys end up laughing so much.
⤷ but eventually when you do fall asleep it is beyond peaceful.
“come on y/n, i’m tired.” he glanced over at you doing some of your last bits of homework for the day. initially, you had planned to study with him but you shouldn’t have expected so much from your boyfriend and truly, you knew that. because after 20 minutes or so he was beyond bored and had opted for laying down on his bed and scrolling on his phone. not without taking a few pictures of you here and there of course.
“ten more minutes.” you didn’t even bother looking up at your textbook to reply to him.
“no, now.” he pulled you into bed from your arm causing you to fall on top of him, bursting into a fit of giggles as he pulled your body closer to his.
“rin you’re exploiting my love for sleeping.” you pouted causing him to scoff as he situated the both of you into more comfortable positions.
“be quiet, you know i’m doing you a favour, that work was lame and plus you can do it later.” he threw the duvet onto the both of you with a snarky expression because he knew he was getting what he wanted.
“fine.” you sighed with content as his heat engulfed your body, the two of you syncing perfectly until you heard him chuckle lowly behind you.
“what are you doing?” you asked turning to see him typing on his phone. “weren’t you the one who wanted me to take a nap?”
“i’m just sending a quick text to atsumu.” he continued chuckling causing you to peer at his phone in curiosity.
‘btw if your girlfriend finds you attractive then she finds samu attractive too, gn.’
the room went silent for a second as you read his words before the two of you erupted in a fit of laughter.
“ok— be serious now—i want to sleep.” you were laughing between your words causing him to follow suit.
“ok, ok.” he pulled you close once again but it wasn’t before long where the two of you found yourselves bursting out in laughter randomly.
but thankfully things ended up settling down and the two of you got your well deserved nap because it was always better with you there.

⤷ will be willing to take spontaneous naps but not as much as suna.
⤷ especially when there are things that need to he done.
⤷ but when the two of you do nap it’s one of those things that feel very personal to the both of you.
⤷ considering osamu’s house isn’t the most peaceful it shows he trusts his family members around you.
⤷ which is not always easy for him as atsumu is one of them.
“are you tired?” osamu turned to face you, watching as your eyelids were slowly shutting. it was the weekend and the two of you were over at his house re-watching your favourite movie even though he had stated you had questionable taste many times.
“what does it look like?” you yawned having half the mind to scold him for asking such an obvious question.
“well if you listened to me when i told you eating all that food would make you sleepy... you wouldn’t be.” he scoffed nudging your side playfully.
“ok you were right, is that what you wanted to hear? now can we take a nap?” you whined pulling on the edge of his shirt.
“mmm, no. i want to hear you apologise first.”
“apologise for what?” you scoffed lazily already situating yourself to get ready to sleep.
“for telling me i was wrong.” he tugged the blanket off you, exposing you to the slightly colder air that engulfed the rest of the house.
the two of you stared at eachother for a couple of minutes before you realised that he wouldn’t be backing down anytime soon. “fine samu.. i’m sorry, you were right.” you huffed.
“what was that?” he chuckled causing you to pull him towards your side of the couch.
“i said i’m sorry, did you hear that time?” you raised your voice in his ear causing him to hiss.
“apology accepted.” he shot you an expectant look as revenge for shouting in his ear, it was obvious he wanted you to ask him to sleep again.
“now can we please nap samu?” you layed down making yourself comfortable watching as he crawled towards you.
“anything you want princess.”

⤷ i think it would take a while for sakusa to open up to the idea of being friends with you.
⤷ and even so, the idea that he might like you in a romantic way.
⤷ but this isn’t personal of course, it’s just that omi is a pretty reserved person.
⤷ but once he finally does get used to the idea of these things and you become his s/o he’ll be really protective over you.
⤷ especially when you’re napping and unaware of your surrondings.
⤷ but i don’t think he’s the type of person to lay down and nap with you, he is a very productive person.
⤷ however there would have definitely been instances where he found you napping.
it was routine for you, sakusa and komori to each lunch together, party because sakusa didn’t really hang out with anyone else and partly because this was his way of saying he wanted to spend time with you.
he waited by the table, drumming his fingers against his thigh as he awaited your arrival. komori caught him glancing at the door several times before finally deciding to speak up.
“so.. where’s y/n? are we supposed to eat without her?” he asked fidgeting with his bento, if he was being honest he was quite hungry, but he didn’t want to deal with a scolding from his cousin for eating without you, because komori knew that sakusa was big on manners.
“why would we eat without her?” the masked male replied bluntly, he raised an eyebrow slightly as if to indicate that it was a stupid question causing komori to wave his hands in the air signalling defeat.
“i was just asking, but seriously where is she? she’s not usually this late.” he glanced at the clock across the dining hall, it had already been twenty minutes.
“if i knew we wouldn’t be sitting here right now.” sakusa retorted causing komori to hold in a chuckle, he didn’t want to provoke him right now but he couldn’t help but find his snappiness hilarious. it was the affect you had on him since he was missing you, but he’d never voice it aloud.
with a huff sakusa got up from his seat and turned towards the door of the dining hall. “i’m going to find her, are you coming?” the raven-haired male didnt even bother to turn and face his cousin as he walked off, nevertheless komori followed after him until the two of them had reached your classroom.
“there she is.” the brunette pointed towards your desk where you were.. asleep?
sakusa knew that you were up late last night since recently you were having some trouble sleeping but he never expected things to be this bad.
he made his way towards you seeing how you were stirring due to the uncomfortable nature of your hardwood desk. usually he was opposed to the idea of sleeping in school, especially when you were in such a vulnerable state but he couldn’t help but notice how adorable you looked. and besides, it wouldn’t hurt for you to take a tiny nap, right?
he pulled out a chair next to you, gently placing your head onto his lap, not without a clear expression of shock laced on komori’s face of course. but before he could speak sakusa shot him a look that said ‘don’t.’ so instead he decided to shut his mouth and eat his bento.
“omi?” you shifted slightly, your eyes squinting to see the sight of your boyfriend.
his eyes fell upon you silently, and even with his mask on when you had just woken up he looked as handsome as ever.
“go back to sleep.” he hesitantly patted the top of your head causing you to hum and fall back into your slumber.
he could get used to this, he thought.

crossing the threshold
prompt: our love is spread across years, even if for the majority was not spent together; I’ll make up for it forever
pairing: atsumu x reader

When Atsumu was sixteen, he met you. A little ten-year-old with cute chubby cheeks, it was during a time when he envied Suna for having a little sister. You had mistaken him for Osamu from behind and while thoroughly offended, he couldn’t dare to raise his voice to a young girl. Atsumu merely patted your head, he bent to your eye level and introduced himself sweetly.
“But you can call me Tsumu. Just remember.” Atsumu stood straight, striking a pose, “I’m the better looking twin okay?”
Innocently, you nodded, “Okay.”
You were absolutely starstruck by him from that point on. If you had to pick your first love, Miya Atsumu is the face that comes to your mind. Contrary to the childish antics that he may give off to his friends and onlookers, he was absolutely sweet to you.
He’d buy you ice cream, random trinkets, and even picked you up from school once when Rintarou got detention for sleeping in class. Atsumu was like a second older brother you wished Rintarou would be sometimes. Granted, you love your brother, but sometimes he lacked the certain caring aspect that Atsumu seemed to always give you.
“Do you like me better or your brother better?” Atsumu watched your childlike eyes light up.
The popsicle in your hand was melting and your legs swayed on the seat, the ringing of the convenience store’s door echoed into the air. You grinned, “Tsumu!” Your head falls forward into your popsicle, the hand that’s smacked the back of your head connected to your brother, “Rin! You’re so mean!”
“What did I tell you.” Rintarou looks down on you, “Don’t associate yourself with Atsumu. He’s a bad man.”
Atsumu grumbles, standing to his feet to point his popsicle at your brother, “Don’t brain wash her like that! Everyone knows I’m the better twin!” He screams into the night and you laugh.
At twelve years old, you’ve made a mental note in your head that one day you were going to marry Miya Atsumu. It was fate, you two were just meant to end up together; but at twelve years old, you experienced your first heart break. Miya Atsumu was eighteen and had a beautiful girl attached to his arm.
Unknowingly, you followed him when you saw him randomly on the street. When you entered the cafe, your heart broke upon seeing him embrace the pretty girl. He hadn’t even noticed you until he properly sat down next to her. His arm draped around her shoulder as he used his other hand to wave to you. As a heartbroken twelve-year-old, you ran out of the café shop.
“Do you know her?”
Atsumu’s arm falls slowly, “Yeah, she’s my friend’s sister. Not sure why she ran out like that. She absolutely adores me.”
All the way home, you ran, not even noticing that you had sprinted past your brother and Osamu. For the weekend you locked yourself in your room trying to quell the sadness of your heart. Atsumu was no longer the man you knew, he was no longer sweet or nice, he was a monster.
You stuck your tongue out at him, “Osamu is the better-looking twin. I want to take a picture with Osamu only!”
Osamu laughs, your hands wrapped around Osamu’s arm as you pull him to take a picture. Graduation day called for families to flood the school and once the ceremony ended, pictures were being taken by everyone. Your parents made you take over fifty pictures with your brother before the twins joined. Atsumu suggested a picture with his favorite little girl and you barked at him.
“You’ll take a picture with me right Samu?” You were practically hugging his arm, Atsumu glaring from behind the parents with cameras.
“Okay! My turn!” Atsumu squeezed through.
“No!” You clung to the grey-haired twin.
After much ruckus, it was concluded that you’d take a picture with all of the boys. Osamu to your right, Atsumu to your left and your brother standing tall behind you. While you leaned closer towards Osamu, your face was bright red, oddly aware of Atsumu’s arm around your shoulder as he poses with a smile.
Your mother hung the picture in the hallway. It stared at you for four years, you hadn’t seen him since he graduated.
Atsumu ran into you at his brother’s restaurant. His brother chatted with a young woman, the familiarity of the figure making him curious when he entered. In fact, when you finally turned to look at him, he almost choked on his own tongue.
“Look at you!” His hand falls on your head, “You’re so big now.”
You swat his hand away, “Don’t touch me, you’re going to ruin my hair.”
Atsumu laughs, pulling into the seat next to you, “How old are you now? Fourteen?”
“Sixteen!” You grit your teeth, “I see you still have the uglier hair.”
Atsumu leans his head back, “You’re still so mean!” He feigns a tear shed, “I remember when you used to adore me so much.”
“That was when you brain washed me.” You stuck your tongue out to him.
Atsumu stares, the amazed grin was glued to his face. It makes your cheeks tint and your heart picks up in pace, “So what are you doing here? Are you visiting me?!” Atsumu wraps an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into an awkward hug, “Did you miss me?!”
Atsumu retracts his hands when someone smacks him from behind. You pull away with a deep hue on your cheeks, brushing your hand through your hair to refix the position. Rintarou stands behind Atsumu, effectively continuing to smack the man another time just for the fun of it.
“Bye Samu!” You’re waving to the male, turning to look at Atsumu briefly with a scowl, “Bye loser.”
Atsumu found you still adorable, attempting to pinch your cheeks and pulling away quickly when you try to bite him. Compared to when he had first met you, small and tiny in the kitchen of your home, now you were taller, hair grown out, and the school uniform fitted on you nicely. Even as you were leaving, Atsumu couldn’t help but turn and stare.
“Ow.” Atsumu rubs the back of his head, Osamu glaring down at him, “What.”
“She’s sixteen, you pervert.”
Atsumu groans, “I wasn’t thinking anything, you’re the pervert for even about thinking it.”
Another four years pass like that, at twenty for you, Atsumu is twenty-six. He finds it hard to believe that you were indeed you. The occasional social media post he saw of you from your brother’s feed definitely didn’t do you justice.
“Are you still as snarky?” Atsumu sits across from you.
The feel of the restaurant was one that he found oddly romantic, chandelier lights in a private room, he had specifically chosen a private area to not draw attention from fans. A table separated the two of you, the waitress hadn’t returned since bringing out the food, and there was the faint sound of classical music playing from the speakers above.
“I don’t know.” You slowly twirl the wine glass, not offering a glance to him, “Do you still have the ugly blonde hair.” You lift your eyes from the wine, a small grin on your lips, “Oh yeah, looks like you do. At least you learned what toner is.”
“Hey, be nice. I’m the one graciously paying for this meal.”
“You’re the one who begged me to come here and I was so close to getting treated to a meal by Kiyoomi.”
It hadn’t been long since you moved to the same city; ever since you visited his practice once with your brother, you had been contacting him non-stop to be invited to his practices and while your eyes were set on his teammate, he practically cock-blocked any chance he could get.
“You know he’s a clean freak.” Atsumu pokes at his food, “Omi doesn’t even accept gifts from his fans.”
Your eyes sparkled, a cheery grin on your lips, “That’s why he’s so perfect, so caring about his own health.” Atsumu frowned. You pulled out your phone, a giggle on your lips as you showcase your lock screen, “The last time I visited, he took a picture with me! Isn’t he so cute!”
Atsumu snatched your cell phone, causing a distressed sound to emit from your mouth, “Why would you put that as your background! What about the picture we took together?”
You grip your phone back, a sharp glare at him, “I like Omi!”
“My stats are better than his.” He randomly throws out into the air, but the way you stare at your phone has him irked, “You listening to me?”
You hum, “So what if your stats are better. Omi definitely has the better looks; do you think you could give me his number?”
Atsumu groans loudly, the knife in his hand nearly cracking the plate. His fork stabs the steak, before your mouth can spew any more about Kiyoomi, he’s shoving food into your mouth.
“Can you just eat now.” He grumbles.
Your hand covers your lips, slowly chewing the meat with a grin, “Sorry.”
Atsumu and you met more often than you had ever intended. There were many nights where he picked you up from work, many conversations over text, many times he would come over to your apartment to just hang out. He’d take over your couch, body sprawled out as he flipped through the television. You’d force him to stop at a volleyball match, opting to watch your brother play over any television series Atsumu could find.
It was quiet, the commentary from the game being the only sound of your apartment. You sat on the ground, back pressed against your couch, a bowl of popcorn sitting in your lap which you ate as though you were watching an action-packed movie. Atsumu laid on his side, an arm draped over your shoulder, fingers playing with the ends of your hair.
His arm suddenly shifted and with a swift second, he withdrew. The sudden action caused you to jolt, looking over your shoulder at him questioningly. His face suddenly hit with a blush.
“What?”
Atsumu coughs, “it’s nothing.” Your eyes turn back to the screen but his mind races. Recalling the moment in which his hand accidentally brushed against your chest, while the fabric of your t-shirt concealed what was underneath, he knew well what it felt like when a woman lacked an undergarment.
He stared at his hand, his face growing redder the more he thought about the incident and he can only assume you were too engrossed into the game to notice. Atsumu feels as though he’s crossed a very awkward line.
“I’m going to the bathroom.” He excuses himself, locking himself into the room, hands aggressively trying to brush away the flush of his cheeks.
As he’s in the bathroom, he takes his time in trying to cool down. He’s trying to find some lotion, hands rummaging through the drawers until as he opens one, he spots the familiar brand of condoms, it’s ones that he’s used before. He blinks three times, an image of you tucked between bedsheets flashes in his mind, before harshly slamming the drawer. Hands flying to his face, and he couldn’t help but think how his luck had run out so fast.
“Tsumu?” You call from the living room, “Everything good in there?”
“Yep!” He answers, “Just looking for some lotion.”
“It’s in the last drawer.”
As he exits the bathroom, he watches you; everything suddenly was different. No longer were you the cute, innocent girl that was his friend’s sister. Perhaps there was another side of you that he just lost track of. Atsumu finds himself seated on the other end of you, legs tucked close to him while continuously eyeing you from the corner of his eyes. A blush creeps onto his face when you look back at him with a smile.
“Congratulations on your win!” You scream into your cell, completely unfazed at the way people in the convenience store looked at you, “See! I told you that you’d win! Tsumu you were so cool with your last serve.”
Atsumu chuckles, a sudden boastful feeling in his throat, “Even better than Omi right?!”
Your voice falls silent, “Your serve was alright.”
“You’re supposed to be supporting me!” Atsumu whines, “Where are you right now?”
“Right now?” You exit the convenience store, staring up at the neon sign, “I’m leaving the store right now.”
“The one by the post office or the one by the chicken restaurant?”
You continue to walk, “The chicken restaurant. Why?”
Arms wrap around your waist, a shriek comes from your mouth as your lifted into the air, spun around excitedly as you hear his laugh. When he sets you down, you turn, hand slapping against his chest. The dim streetlight focusing on you both.
“You should be celebrating with your team.” You look up at him, the excitement in his expression has him practically wanting to jump all over the place.
The grin plastered on him is the brightest you had ever seen. He wraps his arm around your neck, pulling you along the pathway to your home, “I already did, now we need to celebrate!”
He presses a harsh kiss on your cheek, your hand automatically wipes the sloppy kiss, “Disgusting. I’m letting you get away with that because you won your game today.”
Foolishness on his lips, he takes the bag from your hands, carrying it the rest of the way to your place where he promptly raids your kitchen of food and drinks.
In the middle of the night he remains the only one awake, your head fallen on his shoulder as you drifted to slumber. Atsumu feels a lump in his throat, the alcohol in his system tells him to hold you close. He takes in the scent of your hair, his fingers lifted to push aside the strands from your face, he quickly pulls back when you stir. He’s wide awake that night, staring at the ceiling while you slept soundly in your bedroom and he on your couch. Atsumu raises a hand to peer at his fingertips, the warmth of your hair still hot against his skin.
There was a fine line with how Atsumu was feeling and it felt uncomfortable for him to be staring at the line. If he moved passed that line, it could jeopardize his friendship with you, his friendship with your brother, and it was absolutley agonizing. But it was just as terrible being on the safe side pining over you.
“Seriously?” Osamu quirks a brow to him, he laughs, “No way.”
Atsumu groans, forehead pressed against the counter of his brother’s restaurant, “I’m serious. Is it wrong?”
Osamu nods, “Very.”
Atsumu frowns, a defeat on his face when he looks at Osamu, “You’re supposed to be helping me.”
Osamu perks, “Oh I’m sorry. Please, I’m sure Rintarou would love you to date his sister who’s six years younger than us and who we practically watched grow.”
Atsumu slumps back to his position face down on the counter, “I’m a terrible person.” Atsumu moans, “She’s so pretty, and funny, and she gets me.” Atsumu sits straight up, “Like yesterday, she came by my practice and brought me lunch!”
Osamu crosses his arms, “Didn’t she bring that for her precious Omi. I saw her instagram post.”
“But she gave me mine first!” Atsumu pulls his fingers into a fist, “So because I’m first, she likes me more!” Atsumu’s lips fall to a scowl, “Right?”
Atsumu declared that his main problem; all other problems aside, such as your brother. How could he know if you liked him if all you ever looked at was Sakusa Kiyoomi.
It wasn’t easy but he managed to get you a priority pass into the venue of his game. It wasn’t your first time in the arena but it would be the first you actually watched him play in person and not behind a screen. You were quick to find Osamu setting up his onigiri stand, a chuckle on his lips when he saw you.
“Weren’t you invited by Atsumu?”
You tug your hat, a blank expression in your eyes, “Yeah, why?”
Osamu whips out his phone, you strike a quick pose at the shutter of his camera. The pictures were sent in a quick text to his brother. And just to clickbait him, Osamu sends a sweet and short text to make sure his brother would open the images.
She looks so adorable in the MSBY Black Jackals merch.
Atsumu never opened a text so quick, and he’s never felt betrayal so fast before. The jersey you wore while identical to his from the front, the back displayed Sakusa’s name and jersey number. The hat you adorned was knitted with Sakusa’s number and the side of the hat you’ve written his name in white marker against the black cap, hearts drawn cutely before and after his name. To add salt to the wound, there was a clear picture of your phone case, you’ve switched it out from the cute peach phone case he got you to a Sakusa Kiyoomi phone case.
“I hate you so much.” Atsumu holds his phone with a harsh grip, staring at his teammate.
“What?” Sakusa answers.
The game ended in a roar, Atsumu’s heated head channeled into the ball caused quite a few victory points. At one point, he was thinking about accidentally serving a ball to the back of Sakusa’s head but that would only result in you caring for the man more. He could imagine you pushing him aside to tend to your precious Omi.
Many fans lingered once the game was over, Atsumu found himself surrounded by reporters but the corner of his eyes caught your figure walking past security and onto the main ground. His words drawing out as you skipped your way to Sakusa; the hat on your head pulled off as you asked him for an autograph on your hat.
“Hey!” Atsumu jogs to the two of you, his arm finding themselves on your shoulders.
“You did absolutely amazing Omi!” You brush Atsumu’s arm off and he frowns.
Sakusa puts a mask on, “Thank you.”
When he walks away, you’re still starstruck, the hat in your hand held tightly. Atsumu glares daggers into the back of his teammate’s head. The moment you turn to him, Atsumu is smiling.
“Look!” You’re shoving the hat into his face, “He signed my hat!”
Atsumu pretends to be excited, “Next thing you know, he’ll sign your shirt!”
You gasp, “Do you think he would? Wait.” You turn, attempting to run away from him, “I must go find him again.” You giggle when Atsumu catches your arm, pulling you back to him, “I guess the Miya Atsumu would do.”
He takes in your playful eyes, mischievousness on your lips, and the way your cheeks grow when you look at him. If he wasn’t so hopelessly in love, maybe he would have already kissed your lips.
“Want to take a picture?” Atsumu slips his hand to take your phone from your back pocket, a gesture making you smack his arm.
A small pout on his lips when he notices that your wallpaper is still one with Sakusa; but he recruits one of his other teammates to take a picture. Atsumu’s hands dance on your waist, pulling you into him, pressing his cheek against yours, practically trying to crush you into him, you’re laughing. He finds it adorable.
“I’ll wait for you.” You tell him as he leaves to the locker rooms.
You’re scrolling through your cell phone, the pictures on your phone grinning back at you. A slow smile emerges on your lips, Atsumu’s hands on your waist trying to hold you still even though you know he’s trying to tickle you. Your finger holds onto the photo, what follows is a short video of yours and his smile growing larger. Out of impulse, you set the image as your lock screen.
“Gotcha!”
You jump, head whipping back to find your brother staring down at you, “Gosh!” You hit him, “You’re so annoying. Go away!” You attempt to smack his leg but he retracts quickly.
Rintarou pokes the hat on your head, “Did your boyfriend sign the hat for you, is that why you’re so happy?”
“He’s not my boyfriend.” You speak up, “he’s the best player on the Black Jackals!” You stick your tongue out to him, “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at practice or something.”
He points behind him, “Samu and I are going out to eat, thought I’d watch the end of the game. What are you doing?”
“I’m waiting for Tsumu. We were going to go out to eat too.”
“Great.” He narrows his eyes, “Let’s all go together then.”
For some reason, it was painfully awkward for Atsumu. Osamu found it painfully amusing and the Suna siblings shared one brain cell, focusing their attention on the food. The moment all four of you walked into the restaurant, Atsumu almost instinctively chose the seat next to you; the sudden awareness of your brother in the room had him switching seats rapidly.
“So.” Osamu began, “How come you don’t have a boyfriend yet?”
Atsumu begins to cough, a sheepish grin on your lips, Rintarou doesn’t pay attention to the question.
“I guess no guy has piqued my interest yet.” Your hand covers your mouth, attempting to chew and talk at the same time, “I’ve dated here and there but nothing serious yet.”
Osamu nods, “You’re still young, how old are you now?”
You swallow, “Twenty-one.”
Osamu puts a hand onto his brother’s shoulder, “Did you hear that Tsumu, twenty-one.” Atsumu tries drinking water to cease his coughing, “That means that we’re six years apart, right?”
Rintarou finally looks up, “Why are you so suddenly interested in our age difference?”
Atsumu coughs once more, “It’s not like age differences matter.”
Your brother’s actions stop, “Why would the age difference matter in this situation?”
Atsumu and Osamu cough, their food going down the wrong pipe at the same time. In that moment, you steal food from your brother’s plate, the action diverting his attention from the twins. Like siblings, you bicker with your brother as he steals from your plate this time.
The ride home was just as painful. You sat in the back seat, Osamu driving, Atsumu in the passenger side, and your brother with you in the back. The only sound coming from the radio and you kept yourself occupied with your cell phone; not a care in the world that there was some tension in the car.
“I’ll see you guys. Rin, make sure you remember next month is mom’s birthday. Let’s spit a gift.” You wave to the three boys before running off into your apartment building.
The air in the car suddenly thick. Rintarou sits up, hands placed on the shoulders of Atsumu’s seat, “The age difference joke.” Atsumu feels his soul leaving his body, “I’d prefer it if you lay off.” Rintarou slumps back into his seat, “But I don’t care, do as you see fit.” Atsumu looks at him through the passenger side mirror, “I don’t control your lives.”
Atsumu wonders if that was his friend’s way of giving his blessing.
“You still like me better than your brother, right?” Atsumu pokes at you from the seat on your couch.
You roll your eyes, “Will you be quiet if I say yes?” Atsumu nods, “Then yes mister clingy, I like you so much more than my brother.”
Atsumu grins, “How about Omi?”
You shoot him a glare, “You’re stretching it pretty far there.”
There’s a moment of silence before he lets out a deep sigh, one that you’ve suddenly grown accustomed to understanding that he wanted attention.
“You know what we never do?” Atsumu shuffles in his seat.
You look at him, “Is it be quiet?”
Atsumu pokes your cheek, “Nope.” He pulls away when you try to bite his finger, “We never talk about our past. We literally grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, knew the same people.”
“First off.” You’ve turned to fully look at him now, “We went to the same school but never attended at the same time and second, we know the same people because you’re friends with my brother.” Your shoulders shrugged, “You gotta admit, we didn’t get close until almost two years ago when you inserted yourself into my life.”
Atsumu grins happily, “Now you’re blessed with me.”
“More like cursed.” You swat his hand away when he tries to touch your nose.
“What about your first crush or love?” Atsumu tilts his head to you, “Mine was this girl I was dating when I was eighteen. Boy, I thought she was the cutest girl ever until she got extra clingy and jealous. I thought she was going to claw my eyes out.” Atsumu laughs, when he notices that you lack laughter, he pokes your sides, “You?”
“Mine?” Your eyes can’t meet his gaze, “It was you.” Atsumu freezes, perhaps his ears played a joke on him. Suddenly when you look into his eyes, your lips smile, “Yeah, I had the biggest crush on you when I was ten. Isn’t that funny?”
But he doesn’t laugh, his hands cover his face to hide the blush, “That’s so cute.” Atsumu pinches your cheek, “Little you had a crush on me?” You smother a pillow into his face, but it doesn’t drown out his sounds, “It’s absolutely precious!”
“Shut up!” You screech.
He pulls the pillow away, he’s laid out on the couch now, your legs positioned on either side of his hips and with the removal of the pillow in his face, his hands grasp your wrists, the sudden realization that you were straddling him had heat coming out of his ears.
“Sorry.” You pull away. Atsumu shrinks to the opposite side of the couch, face hot as you get up, “I’m gonna order us some food.” Your arm covers your face, trying to hide the heat that’s rushed to your cheeks.
“That’s different.” Osamu notices your phone case, “Wasn’t it a Sakusa one before?”
You lift your phone, “Yeah, my other phone case got dirty and I saw an Atsumu one. The Sakusa ones were sold out so I just thought why not.”
“Interesting.” When he states that you shrug, moving along to find your seat in the arena. Osamu peers over the side of his cart, staring at the overabundance of Sakusa Kiyoomi phone cases in the stall next to him. Osamu merely laughs, “They’re so stupid.”
Atsumu finds himself once again surrounded by reporters, his hands wave signaling that they could talk to anyone else but him, even pushing his other teammate to the reporters.
“Excuse me, can I have your autograph?”
Atsumu tries to smile politely, “Sorry, maybe next time.”
“Alright, I guess I’ll just go find Omi.” Atsumu does a doubletake, his lips spread into a fine grin.
His arms pulling you into a hug, you repress trying to let out a sound of disgust when you realize he’s all sweaty, “What are you doing here?” Atsumu’s fingers run through a strand of your hair, “I thought you were working?”
“I was and then suddenly.” You folded your hands into a fist, coughing into it slowly with a mischievous smile, “I got sick.”
Atsumu uses a finger to push your head back, “You shouldn’t be lying at work.”
Your eyes quickly dart to behind him, “Quick! There’s Omi!” You grab Atsumu’s arm, “Can you take a picture of me and him please!”
It took a little convincing and some rules, but Sakusa complied to the photo. Atsumu grips your phone, an eerie grin on him as he sees that Sakusa places a hand onto the small of your back. But as Atsumu turns on your phone, the happy picture of the two of you washes over him. As he tries to swipe to go to the camera, the picture plays into a short video and for a second, he feels love wash over him.
“Tsumu!” Your voice wakes him from his thought. He’s quick to take pictures and you skip to him after thanking Sakusa for the pictures. Your lips fall into a scowl, “Tsumu! They’re all blurry!”
Atsumu is walking away from you, he shrugs his shoulders as he heads to the locker rooms, “I guess I don’t have a steady hand.” He’s laughing as you yell at him.
Atsumu finds himself slowly walking, he sees you leaning against a pillar, cell phone in your hand, just waiting for him. He finds himself wanting to admire you for a little bit longer, he wants to run his fingers through your hair and most importantly, he wants to feel what it would be like to kiss you.
“Were you slow motion walking here or something?” You laugh.
But Atsumu doesn’t feel like laughing right now, he feels like he wants you; more than anything he’s ever wanted before. The look in his eyes change as he’s suddenly rubbing a thumb over your cheek.
“If I’m crossing a line.” Atsumu’s eyes dart to your lips, “Just tell me to stop.”
He’s leaning down, your back pressed against the pillar. One of his hands rests on your hip the other still a caressing your cheek. He lets himself pause before your lips; eyes deeply lost in yours before he takes the dive. He’s absolutely immersed in you, your arms bring him deeper in and he’s euphoric. He dips in, pushing your head back to bump against the pillar. You let out a groan, pushing his arms away as your hand flies to the back of your head.
You chuckle, “A little too eager there.”
“Sorry.” Atsumu bites his lower lip, the seconds ago just barely registering in his head, “Was that alright?”
“Do you want some kind of grade?” You purse your lips, “Maybe a B+.” You tease but Atsumu pouts. Your fingers tug on his jacket, palms against his cheeks to pull him down, pressing a quick peck to his lips, “Does that answer your question?”
Your footsteps begin to walk away from him. You look at him from over your shoulder; he still seemed stunned, but the way you moved drew him in.
“If you’re going to just stand there, I might just go ahead and find Omi.”
Like a puppy, he runs to you; hands reaching out to you as you begin to scamper through the hall. A delighted squeal leaves your mouth when he catches up, arms encasing you in a hug; he’s pressing a sloppy kiss on your cheek.
“So, we’re just supposed to get used to this now?” Osamu watches Atsumu throw an arm around your shoulders, his brother sticking his tongue out childishly, “What are you so smug about, you spent practically two years pining over her.”
Rintarou sighs, suddenly feeling uneasy about the situation, “I thought you knew better. I told you to not associate yourself with Atsumu.”
Your fingers interlock with Atsumu’s, the siblings in front of the two of you continue to yammer but their voices are drowned out with Atsumu pressing his lips against your hair. He feels the need to draw his seat closer to you, and your brother scowls.
Atsumu lets go of you with a shriek, the hot soup spilled onto his pants.
“Rin!” You shout.
“He crossed the line.”
Your brother hogs the napkins, Osamu laughs loudly, and you watch your boyfriend scream in agony. You roll your eyes at your brother, after all, you were still his little sister and he can’t just have anyone trying to make a move on you.

Hold Me(Kakashi Hatake x Fem!Reader)
Tumblr media
Word count: 1,603 Pairings: Kakashi Hatake x Reader Summary: Reader has loved Kakashi since they were children, but she knew that it would be hard to get underneath all his layers and get to his heart. She knows he doesn’t think he is worthy of love, but she knows he is. She’ll do anything to show him how amazing he truly is. Warnings: Fluffy, bittersweet, mentions of Rin and Obito, sadness. A/N: Just letting everyone know, I write Naruto content for real now. I’ve finished Shippuden and you can send in your Naruto requests!
It took you so long to finally come to terms with your feelings. You had known him for so long, and you always tried to suppress how you truly felt. You knew that Kakashi wasn’t someone who was so willing to open up to people. He had gone through so much in his life, and you were always there on the sidelines to adore him from the sidelines.
But now, you were an adult and you were trying to get your life together. Both of your parents had died when you were really young, so just like Kakashi, you had to fend for yourself and grow up quickly. Finally, you were financially and emotionally in a good spot, but something was still missing.
You wanted to have a good relationship with somebody and maybe start a family, but you wanted no one else but Kakashi. You felt like maybe you should give up before you even start, considering he was not going to accept your flirtings or advances. He just wasn’t ready for something like that, and maybe he’d never be ready for it. Kakashi was way too afraid to lose someone else in his life, so he just happily went along and lived alone and contented himself with reading his erotica books for entertainment between training sessions and missions.
Days would go by before you finally decided to go see him. He was hanging out under a tree, watching his team train. You had your hands full with your own team, and they were making decent progress. From what you had heard, Kakashi ended up with the sole member of the Uchiha clan and Naruto Uzumaki as his students, along with a young woman named Sakura. Kakashi definitely had his hands full with this group.
The two young men were at odds with each other with the girl trying to be the mediator. This scene really reminded you of when you and Kakashi were young and he was on his team with Rin and Obito. It was almost like you were looking into the past.
“Kakashi~” You announced your presence. He looked up at you and you could see him smiling under his mask.
“Hi,” Kakashi casually said  as he kept an eye on his team.
You walked over to him and plopped yourself down on the grass near his feet. He stared at you for a moment before crouching down to your level. You smiled at him before ruffling his hair playfully.
“How have you been?” You asked, hoping to talk to him for a little while. Your heart was pounding as you tried to remind yourself why you were really here.
“I’ve been pretty busy. How about yourself?”
You started to talk a bit, mostly about your missions and other things. As you both continued to chat, you noticed his students keeping a watchful eye on both of you. You could tell that these youngsters didn’t think that Kakashi had many friends.
“I was wondering, if you aren’t too busy, you and I could go for some ramen later tonight.” You asked, nervously looking away from Kakashi’s glance.
Kakashi looks down, a blush not apparent on his face due to his mask. “Uhm, I don’t know if I’ll have enough time.” He was making up an excuse, but in reality, he wanted to go with you.
“Oh, well maybe some other time.” You said, trying to hide your disappointment. Kakashi just chuckled nervously and nodded.
“Yeah, sure.” He rubbed the back of his neck and then walked over to his team. You wondered if he was just trying to deflect, but you figured he just wasn’t interested in you at all.
You could imagine your surprise when later that night, there’s a knock at your door and on the other side, it’s Kakashi. He’s got his hands behind his back and he’s looking pretty anxious. You’re very surprised but also pleased to see him.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, hoping he had found the time to go out with you.
“I switched around a few things on my schedule,” he started. “I’m feeling pretty hungry, would you like to get some ramen?”
You eyed him a little suspiciously, wondering if someone put him up to this. You knew sometimes Gai would egg on Kakashi and make him do some pretty silly things. Yet, you felt a little more at ease when Kakashi said please. Your heart swelled at the thought of him actually wanting to spend some time with you.
The walk to Ramen Ichiraku wasn’t long and you were enjoying the warm night air. Kakashi wasn’t really sure what to say to you, so you mostly just took the lead in the conversation. Finally, you spotted the stall and you challenged Kakashi to a race. He wasn’t ready for that, so you obviously won.
“That wasn’t very fair,” Kakashi teased, but he sat next to you.
“I know, but I won anyway.” You said as you stuck out your tongue. Kakashi chuckled.
You both ordered some ramen and enjoyed each other’s company. It wasn’t often that you got to spend some alone time with Kakashi and you knew it wasn’t going to be possible anytime soon after this. You both had your teams to take care of and they would be taking their Chunin exams very shortly.
As the night went on, you could feel your feelings for Kakashi grow even more. Part of you wanted to pull his mask down and kiss him softly, and the other part of you wanted to run home and cry in bed because you knew he would never want to get into a serious relationship.
The date came to an end way too quickly, and Kakashi offered to walk you home. You happily accepted his offer, knowing that your only chance to tell him how you truly felt would be now or never. You didn’t want it to be never, but you could feel your stomach clench at the thought of confessing.
You stood with your back to your apartment door, watching Kakashi with half-lidded eyes. You weren’t really sure how you could start this conversation, but thankfully Kakashi wasn’t an idiot. He knew you had feelings for him, and he knew for quite some time now.
“Listen, this was really fun, but I don’t know if we could keep doing this.” Kakashi started, and you could already feel your heart wrench.
“Oh, I see. Well, it was nice to spend time with you.” You were already mentally kicking yourself for not telling him how you truly felt and fighting for his affections.
You turned to open your door, but stopped midway and turned back around to face him.
“No, I’m not letting you go.” You stood your ground as Kakashi wasn’t really sure how to react.
“Kakashi, you spend most of your time alone. You’ve never allowed yourself to love someone after what happened with your teammates, but I’ve always been there for you. I know I’m not going to replace Rin or Obito, but I love you.”
Kakashi is a little shocked, but he regained his composure pretty quickly. He leaned in towards you, cupping your face gently. He doesn’t want to break your heart, but he doesn’t think he’s worthy of your love at all. He’s too afraid to lose someone so precious to him once again.
“I can’t do this. You deserve so much more,” Kakashi muttered, and you shake your head no.
“Kakashi, you must really think you’re unlovable, but you truly deserve my love. I want to show you that you can be happy again.” You pressed your forehead to his, looking into his eyes wantonly.
Your fingers traced his face softly before removing his mask and exposing his gorgeous face to you. You had only seen his face fully once or twice, but now it was different. It lit a fire in your belly and you leaned in to kiss him passionately.
Kakashi didn’t pull away, instead he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you even closer. He knew it was going to take him some time to get used to this kind of treatment, but he wanted to be loved so badly. He needed to be loved, and especially by you.
You pulled away, holding him at arm's length to study his reaction. He’s got a dopey look on his face, but you knew he was a little apprehensive. You pulled him in for a hug, holding him close to you.
“I can’t bring back the people you love, but I can show you how amazing you truly are. I love you so much, and I can’t hide those feelings anymore.” You confessed. Kakashi hummed softly before placing a kiss on the top of your head.
“You are way too amazing for me, love. Are you sure this is what you want?” Kakashi asked, hoping you would change your mind and find someone who was much more full of life and wasn’t so damaged.
“I couldn’t be any more sure of something in my life. I love you.”
He smiled softly, not really sure what to say or how to react. You invited him inside to stay the night and he happily agreed. The rest of the night consisted of you comforting him and reminding him of how much he was worthy of your love.
And Kakashi would never go without love for any longer. For the rest of his life, you would always be there to show him that he wasn’t too damaged or too far gone to be happy.

Tumblr media
Hard pulsating music pounded at your already throbbing head. It only got worse when you stepped out of the car and had to lean against the doorframe for support.
“(Y/n)?” Suna was immediately at your side. “If you want to go ba-”
“Who’s the hot chick!” You flinched at the loud voice, turning to a large man with golden platinum hair and tattoos running from his neck to his arms (probably further down his chest and torso too). You inched closer to Suna who just let out a groan and rolled his eyes, stepping in front as a barrier between you and the looming guy.
“Aren’t ya gonna introduce them?” The man continued to peer over Suna’s shoulder, trying to get a good look at you, before the distant call of someone else caused him to immediately retract and straighten his back.
“There’s the boss…” Suna mumbled.
The boss?
Oh.
This was probably his racing team.
“Rintarō, who’s this?” This so-called “boss” nodded his head in your direction. He looked more kempt than the other man, his hair ashy with dark tips (slightly disheveled though). However, his eyes were a slight bloodshot red with heavy lids giving him an overall intimidating look, despite having a smaller build than him.
Rin lazily looked towards you. “This is (y/n).”
The man with the large tattoos suddenly lit up, but before he even had a chance to say anything, Suna was already dragging you away.
“Ah Rin! You could’ve at least let me get their names too!”
“Bane. Zurui kitsune.”
“What? Are those like code names or something? Oh...those are racing aliases! Omg...then that one big guy was Atsumu right!-”
“Aran.”
“Huh? Ara-” And yet again, you were cut off by another approaching figure. This man as well, had a full sleeve of tattoos and a joint in his mouth that he dropped at the call of his name. However, unlike the others before, he had a—much more than them at least—friendlier aura. You watched as both Suna and him shook hands, discussing something that you couldn’t quite catch, but could definitely tell that it had to do with you. A series of flashing lights suddenly caught your attention, blinding you. And when you were able to finally regain focus, Suna had disappeared leaving you alone with the man Suna had referred to as “Aran.”
You awkwardly glanced in his direction; Aran greeted you with a smile and waved you over. You nodded nervously and followed him through the intimidating crowd of gathering racers and dealers, then up a long, dark staircase that led to a run down door.
“Um…where are we...”
“You’ll see.” You immediately became alert. Oh fuck no. This is exactly what they show in the movies, there’s no way you were about to let some stranger take you into a sketchy room. You were about to dash, but halted when he called your name.
“(Y/n) was it? Relax, I’m not gonna do anything to you...especially with those eyes watching.” He nodded towards Suna, far away yet eyes as sharp as ever looking in your direction. You feel your cheeks heat and break yourself out of your trance, following Ojiro into the room.
Surprisingly, the interior was fairly maintained with only the slight peeling of the wall paint.
“Who’s this?” Your attention immediately turned towards the other presence in the room. You had to rub your eyes.
What the fuck? Wasn’t this man out there just 10 minutes ago? Where did his tattoos go? Oh…
It didn’t hit you until the man took off his cap, revealing a much darker hair color, and introduced himself with a simple “Osamu” before turning back to his computer screen.
Twins.
“This is Osamu Miya, our spotter.”
“spotter?”
“Yeah, the guy who monitors our drivers while they’re racing, relaying any potential surprises and mapping out shortcuts.”
“Ah I see...and you?”
“Well I’m the star mechanic and pit crew chief!” You watch as Aran’s demeanor changes to a much prouder one. “I used to be like one of them down there, but…” you watched him light a blunt in his mouth before continuing with a smirk, “I think it’s more fun watching others’ faces when they see my cars absolutely wreck them out there. Upgrades like no other.” He winked at you.
“Oh I see...by the way, Rin told me about the usage of first names here over family names.”
“It’s to not get family names involved unless it’s someone who’s got a reputation for it down here...we use first and racing names.”
“That makes sense.” Your attention was immediately stolen away as your ears caught the loud roar of revving engines.
“That’s Rintarō’s car!”
“Someone wants to race him.”
You moved over to where Osamu sat, and looked down through the wide window at where two cars, one of them being Suna’s, pulled up to the light. There was a momentary quiet, the entire street dead silent and waiting for the spectator to signal the start of the race. Before you could even blink, all restraints became loose and the drivers took off.

Yukio Okumura Alphabet Headcanons - [SFW]
a/n: its finally here! and suprisingly, its not 2am, lmfao- heres our fave problematic boi. he deserves love too.
Yukio:
Tumblr media
A = Affection (How affectionate are they with an s/o?)
Yukio's quite affectionate! However, most of the affection occurs somewhere in private, rarely in public; but it's not like he doesn't like showing it - he considers it somewhat intimate. Yukio has no problem holding your hand in public or wrapping his arm around your waist, though.
B = Breath (What could their s/o do to take their breath away?)
Being yourself. Not acting like completely another person, whether its to just to fit in or to get an advantage in something. Even though it sounds kinda silly, he loves seeing you being yourself, the real you, doing what you like. It comforts him in a way, considering that he always had to change himself to either be an adult and take care of someone, or fighting his own demons. Since he always has to have a facade on, it's oddly satisfying seeing the person he loves the most being true to themselves and others.
C = Cuddling (Do they cuddle? If they do, how and when do they cuddle?)
In private? hell yes. anytime, unless he's doing some important work (well,, he still lets you sit on his lap nonetheless). Loves to cuddle, even if he's a bit reluctant at first, since he isn't really used to it. Whenever you cuddle, he always unconsciously intertwines his fingers with you - it's a habit he's developed as he got used to the other person's touch.
D = Dream (What do they dream of doing with their s/o?)
Similar to Rin - having a normal life. No satan, no Illuminati, just quiet and peace. Yukio also wishes to open up about himself and finally, leave any troubles and dishonesty behind. He feels guilty a lot knowing he's probably messed up too much and it's probably not gonna happen.
E = Effort (How much effort do they put into a relationship?)
He does his best! He has a great memory, so whenever an anniversary or bday approaches, he's already prepared. He also cares a lot, and it shows whenever he checks up on you - he acts kinda like a strict and caring mom, but that's just how he is. Questions about your wellbeing are always honest. Emotionally, he might be a little clumsy.
F = Fear (What do they do if their s/o is scared? How do they handle it?)
Outside is calm and collected, but outside he's panicking. He handles the situation pretty well, no matter if it's something serious or not. He asks if you're okay, if you need anything; if he hears "no", he kisses you on your forehead, sits next to you and pulls you closer to him, so you can wrap your hands around him and listen to his heartbeat. He doesn't say anything; instead, he plays with your hair and gives small kisses on the crown on your head.
G = Gifts (What type of gifts do they give their s/o? Do they want a gift in return?)
He's the jewelry type of guy. Whether it's expensive or something on the cheaper side, he likes both if it holds some kind of meaning. He loves buying you bracelets, sometimes he gets himself a matching one and wears it hidden under that black, exorcist coat. Doesn't really want nor expects to get a gift in return, and will have a hard time accepting one, but eventually, he'll take it. (and I mean, if you shove it in his hands and leave)
H = Hugs (Do they hug their s/o? How often?)
Hugging is a must, but in a very subtle way. Oh, you two greet for the first time this day? He side hugs you, placing a kiss on your forehead. Side hug works as a goodbye as well. Full-on hugs occur usually after a tough mission, if your life's been in danger or he feels particularly affectionate that day.
I = Intimacy (How romantic are they? Do they have problems with intimacy?)
He's pretty romantic, likes those cliche things, like giving you flowers or lighting candles for a special dinner for you two. Sometimes he cringes a lot because of that cheesy things, but it's really sweet, considering his personality. The only problem with intimacy is, well, his mind that at first, doesn't want to allow you to get to know his struggles. Since he's always self-loathing, it's really hard to get through that thick walls he's built throughout the years; He does actually open up eventually, but it takes him a lot of time - he wants to know that he can trust you.
J = Jealous (Do they get jealous? How do they act when jealous?)
Gets jealous only if you're "interacting too much" with people close to him - like Rin (sorry), Bon, or Renzo. Yukio just stares and, possibly, burns holes in the other person's skull. He'll place his chin on his palm, resting his elbow on the desk and.. just stare with no shame. If that person looks at him, he just smiles, but let me tell you, that smile is NOT a pleasant one. (aka "you better stop or else" kind of smile)
K = Kiss (Are they a good kisser? Do they like to kiss? How often do they try to kiss you?)
He's a decent kisser. I think he's kissed before, so he generally knows what to do and gets better as the relationship goes. Likes kissing, surprisingly! Often kisses you around your face, like on the forehead, cheeks, or your hair. Lips kisses, however, are mostly shared in private -  he feels it's way more serious and intimate than any other kiss.
L = Love (When do they say they love you? How often do they say it? Do they prefer to say or show it?)
Yukio says "I love you" when he feels like it; it's not like he doesn't love you, it's just the way he is. Even though it's not often, he pours everything from his heart into these words. He's most likely emotionally vulnerable during this time, too -  when his walls break down and he finally lets some of his struggles out, he always says that three words when he's done with his monologue. Sometimes however, you can do a random thing, and out of nowhere you hear him saying it too (just imagine eating marshmallows and hearing his "I love you", then looking at him with your stuffed mouth.. well-). He's a 50/50 guy - he knows he doesn't say that often, so he makes it up by trying to show it in different ways.
M = Marriage (Do they want to get married? If so, what kind of ceremony?)
Would love to get married! But Yukio being Yukio, thinks that who'd want a fool like him to spend their life with? with him? after all he's done? You won't accept his proposal, bet! When he's actually going to propose, he thinks "you only die once" (this proverb is so cursed-) and he's just gonna do it, thinking he's gonna be rejected. Would like a small ceremony, only with people he trusts the most and your families. (Mephisto is NOT invited, by the way.) ((yes, he's mad about it. hoes mad))
N = Night out (What type of dates do they like to go on? How often do they like to go on them?)
Home dates all the way! Or, if night walks are considered dates, they're his favorite. Walking through the city with a cold breeze, empty streets, and blinking stars above him - it's his guilty pleasure. There's no one to bother him, and the fact that he can share this feeling with you makes him feel fulfilled inside. If it's okay with you, he can go on walks like this every night (unless the weather sucks).
O = Out of the Ordinary (What’s something they don’t normally do with/for their s/o?)
As silly as it sounds, he's usually against a nice, specific skincare routine. Whether you suggest giving you both masks, he turns that down. He thinks it takes too much time and ultimately does nothing to make his skin better. (psst, just beg him until he gives up and gets a tiger mask on)
P = Playful (Are they playful in a relationship? If so, how do they play around/mess with their s/o?)
He's quite playful if he's in a good mood. His only weapon is to tickle you whenever you expect it the least.
Q = Questions (Do they ask their s/o their opinion on things? Do they share theirs?)
Depending on what topic the discussion is about, he might or not ask you for your opinion. He does value your thoughts on things, but if it's something regarding his actions, he's very likely to listen to himself anyway. If it's about something more light-hearted or less serious in general, he's definitely gonna ask you. He himself shares his own opinion rarely, unless he's cornered.
R = Random (How spontaneous is their relationship? Do they do things on the spot or plan ahead?)
It's been planned ahead, at first, but given that his "adventures" with both the Order and Illuminati made things quite... messy, it's now considered kinda spontaneous. He, to be honest, doesn't want anymore to plan things too far ahead, not knowing if they're gonna actually work out or not.
S = Sleep (How do they sleep with their s/o?)
He's a switch! Most of the time he's the big spoon, sleeping behind you with his arm over your hip, but when his mental health gets worse, he likes being spooned. Before sleeping, he has a small routine with you - when you're lying in bed, he hugs you tightly to reassure both himself and you that you're still here for him and he's for you, safe and sound.
T = Trust (How much do they trust their s/o?)
Yukio's got a little bit of trust issues, at first. In the first few months, he won't tell any information about either himself, or Rin. If his s/o doesn't participate in exorcist classes, he won't even bring up the topic of being the son of Satan himself (so his schedule might seem a little bit sketchy). He's that kind of guy that believes his relationship won't last long, so he sees no need to tell any sensitive info that could possibly cause even more problems. As the relationship progresses and he realizes his s/o deserves to know and has put up with his shit to the current day, Yukio will slowly break the news, feeling extremely guilty.
U = Unique (What makes them unique as an s/o?)
Despite him bottling up his emotions and thoughts, he's a top-notch listener. Whenever something is bothering you, he's gonna ask if you wanna talk about it; he's gonna listen to it and give you the best advice he could possibly think of. He thinks something along the lines of "if I can't be helped, at least I'll help someone else that actually cares about me."
V = Vulnerable (How long until they can be vulnerable around their s/o? What are they like in this state?)
Very, very long. A whole ass year, if not more. His breakdowns are very violent - they start with him being furious - he's yelling, pacing around, and holding guns all the time; might also throw stuff, so in this phase, it's better to let him do his thing, instead of getting yourself injured and making him blame himself for more. The second and last phase is when he just kneels and lowers his head, dropping the guns on the floor and placing both of his hands on his face; that's when he starts sobbing, apologizing, and saying what's been on his mind all that time. He chokes on his sobs whilst talking, his entire body is shaking and when you come closer to him to embrace him, he throws himself at you and holds you like it's the last thing he's doing on this world.
W = Wild Card (Get a random domestic headcanon of the character of your choice)
On a happier note, Yukio's all ready to try out some basic, simple things you're interested in! You're baking? He's here to help you in any way he can - mixing, decorating. I headcanon that he's able to read extremely fast, so he might as well read any of the books/manga you like and talk about it later on. If you're an artist, no matter if the beginner or not, he's very willing to help you with anatomy, drawing certain parts of the body, or explaining them in detail!
X = X-Ray (What would they do if their s/o got injured?)
Surprisingly calm, unlike Rin. He's patched Rin up before, plus he has a meister in doctor, so he's familiar with it and is pretty skilled with his hands. If the injury is too much for him, he's gonna get you to the hospital.
Y = Yuck (Do they have any pet peeves about their s/o? Are there any habits that might bother their s/o?)
The only things that bother him are sticking nose in other people's business or forcing him to talk about certain things.
Z = Zeal (Are they passionate as an s/o? Do they want or like passion?)
He's trying his best to be; likes passion himself, but feels like he doesn't deserve a single bit of it.

You follow them along the side of the street.
The night is cold and your steps echo in the silence of the town. There’s barely a soul out and about at this time of the dark, and you shiver a little in your thin mission clothes. Even though he’s walking in front of you, he seems to be able to sense something intuitively and turns around to glance at you.
“Cold?”
You blow on your hands in an attempt to warm them up slightly.
“A little.”
Wooyoung ignores your words, taking your hand in his warmer one and puts it in his pocket. You smile at him gratefully but he isn’t looking at you, instead eyeing Seonghwa walking silently in front of tow of you, head bowed in thought as he leads the two of you through the town.
He squeezes the hand nestled in his pocket lightly.
Now should we talk to him?
You take his pinky finger and wave it back and forth.
No. I think we’d better let him absorb what he’s just heard.
The pad of his thumb traces small circles on the inside of your wrist.
But shouldn’t we comfort him or something?
You pinch his finger and a small yelp leaves his mouth.
Let’s not rush him. Give him some time.
You glance up just in time to see Wooyoung puff out his cheeks a little, obviously wanting to comfort his friend but knowing that he needs time to himself as well. In an attempt to reassure him, you intertwine your fingers with his and squeeze a little.
I’m sure he’ll be fine.
Wooyoung gives you a weak smile.
I hope so.
You leave the paved roads of the town behind you, moving into a beach dotted with sparse patches of grass. Your boots crunch a little on sand and it’s hard to keep your footing, but Wooyoung guides you over the dunes with easy grace that makes you almost envious.
The three of you walk in silence along the stretch of beach, the sounds of waves lapping against the beach soothing your soul. You gaze out to the ocean, there’s something beautiful about it tonight that you can’t quite place. Then you feel Wooyoung come to a stop beside you and you look up to see where you’re at.
It’s a craggy outcrop of rocks outlined against the sea, perfect for fishing and prawning. You can imagine a man with Seonghwa’s nose and jawline, holding a young boy’s hand as he teaches him how to tie a hook to the rod, as a woman with his soft grey eyes smiles fondly at them while patting the head of a girl in her lap. A younger Seonghwa runs up to them, a fish wriggling about at the end of his hook, and his father ruffles his hair proudly, telling him how he’s going to be the greatest fisherman in the future-
There’s a grave marker in the sand.
Seonghwa stares at the tombstone for a moment.
“Can you two… give me a moment?”
Wooyoung frowns in concern and open his mouth to protest against leaving him alone, but you pinch the inside of his wrist and he yelps.
“Of course.” You tell him and he gives you a grateful nod, before you pull Wooyoung with you to the side as Seonghwa turns to face the weathered grave marker alone.
The two of you sit at the side, staring at the sea.
“Do you think…” Wooyoung begins hesitantly, without really looking at you, but then he trails off before he can say anything else. You frown, turning to stare at him.
“Do I think? Yes, I do. Why?”
His eyes shift a little edgily, trying to make up his mind. A little confused, you tug at his sleeve, and he finally meets your gaze, soft green staring into yours. A part of you really loves the colour of his eyes, but another thought invades your mind.
Not as green as his.
You’re shocked for a moment, but the thought fades like smoke before you can catch it.
“You don’t have your memories, don’t you? Do you think… that you could be suppressing your memories like hyung did?”
Fear spikes through you for a moment. You don’t have your memories. Seonghwa had heard the words of the town official for sure but had somehow forced his mind to forget that single fact, how, you didn’t understand.
You don’t know. You really don’t know if you’re suppressing your memories or if they are well and truly removed. What you do know is that every time you close your eyes and try to remember, you see that same beach with waves crashing against it, the night sky sprinkled with diamonds. Besides the one with the green eyes, you have no memories of your past in the least.
Green eyes.
Ever since your near fatal attempt at healing Yeosang, you’d seen the same pair of green eyes in your sleep every night, haunting your dreams. A phantom pain throbs in your chest for a moment, right above your heart, before it vanishes.
Your fingers reach up to brush it subconsciously.
The knife.
But there is no scar there. When you had woken from the week long coma, you had immediately checked your chest for any signs of any physical harm, but you had found absolutely nothing at all, leading you to believe that it had been nothing more than a dream rather than a memory.
The green eyes still lingered at the back of your mind.
The words that he had whispered in your ears.
I will be with you every step of the way.
The words etched in your necklace.
The necklace that had been a vial.
The vial containing the liquid that you had drunk.
You groan and bury your face in your arms, utterly lost at trying to put your shredded memories back together. Wooyoung glances at you a little worriedly. “I have no idea-”
There’s crunching of footsteps in the sand and you look up to see Seonghwa trudging his way back to you, now with a gentle, content smile on his face. You and Wooyoung rise to your feet to meet him, and he calls to the two of you.
“Can you two join me here for a second?”
A little confused, Wooyoung turns to look at you, but you shrug and make your way over to Seonghwa’s family grave marker, slipping and sliding your way across the sand. The two of you come to a stop before the tombstone, where you can see clearly the words engraved into the cool marble.
Here lies Park Seongho, Eun Jung, Hyunjung and Ha Rin.
“Did you need us for something, hyung?” Wooyoung asks, staring at the grave marker just like you. Seonghwa nods.
“I wanted the two of you to be here when I said something to my family.”
His voice is earnest, firm, pleading. You are shocked that Seonghwa would want you here when he needed to say something to his family, but you aren’t going to deny him this one request about something so close to his heart.
Seonghwa turns back to his family grave, kneeling before it. He presses his forehead against the stone, fingers tracing the carvings of their names, as if by doing so it could bring him closer to them. Something in you feels like you’re intruding on this intimate moment between Seonghwa and his family, but he did ask you to stay, so you listen.
“Mother, Father, Hyunjung, Ha Rin…” Seonghwa murmurs softly against the cold stone, eyes fluttering shut. “I hope you can forgive me, but I have no intention of joining you for a very long time.”
A gasp almost forces its way from your throat, and from the way Wooyoung is staring at his crew mate, slack jawed, he’s just as shocked as you are at Seonghwa saying something like that to his family.
“I love you all. I always have. You’ll always be my family.” Seonghwa continues, apparently oblivious to the looks you and Wooyoung are exchanging behind him. “But I have a reason to stay now.”
A warm feeling rises in you, spreading from your chest down to your toes.
“I’ve found another family. Please let me stay with them.”
A tear slips from your eyes, and from the way Wooyoung is wiping his eyes desperately with his sleeve, he’s crying too.
In that second, you hear the shattering of something in the air, soft and barely noticeable, but Seonghwa’s eyes fly open in shock. Then tears start pouring from his eyes and you and Wooyoung approach him in alarm, horrified at what might have happened. But Seonghwa merely waves the two of you off reassuringly, and you’re surprised to see him wiping the tears from his eyes with the happiest smile you’ve ever seen on him.
“They’ve stopped.” He can’t stop grinning, joy radiating from him. Wooyoung looks a little confused, frowning.
“What’s stopped?”
Seonghwa laughs through his tears, elated and jubilant even with the tears still streaming down his cheeks.
“Their voices. They’ve stopped.”
With that declaration, he gets to his feet, wiping his eyes as he turns to look at the two of you with a bright grin that you can’t help but return. Wooyoung claps his crew mate on the shoulder gently with a smile on his face, the shackles on his wrists jingling.
“That’s good, Seonghwa.”
Seonghwa nods enthusiastically, turning to face the sea once more where you know the Treasure is moored, just out of sight of the town. “Well then, let’s get back to the ship-”
But there’s someone standing there.
Your heart skips a beat at the dark shape there, until Wooyoung’s eyes open in surprise and recognition, the man’s name leaving his lips.
“Soobin?”
At the name, Seonghwa’s mouth falls open in shock as he stares the man down. The man too, is gaping at your crew mate in shock.
“Hwaseong?”
“Soobin?”
Then the two take down across the beach, sprinting full speed towards each other like two wild horses on a collision course. And collide they do, the resulting sound of the two men crashing into each other makes you wince and wonder if either of them broke any bones, but they don’t seem to care, leaping up and down in sheer excitement.
You turn to look at Wooyoung, who’s gawking at the two of them in shock as realisation dawns on his face.
“Well, I definitely didn’t expect that.”
Your mouth falls open as you finally get what is happening. Back when the two of you had escaped from the guards of the officials’ building, you had entered this man’s house, the woodcutter with two missing fingers.
“Apparently when he was younger he had a run in with them and helped his friend escape them too, but he lost a couple of fingers in the process.”
You would have never thought that the friend would have been Seonghwa.
“Maybe it’s fate.” You shrug, and Wooyoung grins at you for a moment, before he dashes across the sand and throws himself into the hug as well, tackling the two men off their feet and into the sand. Their shouts and cries ring across the beach to you.
You simply shake your head and move to join them at a more sedately pace.
“I can’t believe you’re still alive after that little stunt you pulled!” Seonghwa wraps his old friend in a hug as Soobin grins widely, something you hadn’t seen the last time. In fact, you’re a little unnerved how that stoic, fierce man’s face can change so much.
“I barely escaped with my life.” Soobin tells him dramatically, raising his left hand so Seonghwa can see the two missing fingers. “One of their bullets ricocheted off a wall and hit my hand, so I lost two fingers, you know! If I had known how much trouble I’d get into for trying to save you, I wouldn’t have done it-”
Seonghwa’s mouth falls open and you see his head hang in guilt. “I’m sorry, Soobin-”
“-so late! Do you see this, my friend?” Soobin flutters his ring finger and Seonghwa’s eyes widen almost comically at the sight of the silver band resting there.
“Someone wanted to marry you?”
The disbelief in Seonghwa’s voice forces a snort from you and you rush to cover your mouth with your hands, but Soobin has already heard it and glances at you. “Ah! Gunshot! I see you’re not dead yet! That’s amazing. And Hwaseong, how dare you!”
Seonghwa is grinning so hard you’re sure his cheeks must be hurting. “So who’s the unlucky girl?”
“Only the most beautiful woman in the world, Kim Seohyun.” Soobin pretends to flip his non existent long hair over his shoulder and you’re sure you’re goggling at the complete attitude change of the man who’d threatened to chop you and Wooyoung up into tiny pieces with his axe. “She was so awestruck by how I had sacrificed two fingers to save your ass that she started talking to me more and more, and that’s how we ended up together.”
“That poor girl.” Seonghwa gushes in pity and Soobin screeches, wrapping Seonghwa in a headlock.
“Shut up! So who are these two?” He gestures at you and Wooyoung, who’s come to stand by you, smiling at Seonghwa’s exuberance. Seonghwa’s smile softens as he turns to look at the two of you.
“My crew mates, Choi Chin Hae and Jung Wooyoung.” Soobin’s eyes widen at the information, glancing over at you. Wooyoung smiles and waves proudly at the mention of his name.
“So you really stayed on that pirate ship?” The woodcutter gapes, and Seonghwa nods happily.
“I’m with them.”
“How is the baby?” You ask Soobin, who grins proudly. You don’t miss the way Seonghwa’s jaw literally drops to the sand as he stares at Soobin.
“Seohyun is pregnant?” His eyes are shining, celebrating his friend’s joy like it’s his own. Soobin nods, a proud father.
“The baby is coming along well. Seohyun and I’ve agreed on names, whether the baby is a girl or boy... the name will be Hwaseong.”
A tear falls from Seonghwa’s eye and he laughs, so happily as if he couldn’t be more joyful. “Don’t be stupid, Soobin. You’re supposed to name your child after something meaningful, not after a wanted criminal on the run-”
Soobin shakes his head firmly.
“You’re not a wanted criminal anymore, Hwaseong.”
Seonghwa’s eyes widen in shock. “What?”
“A few months after you escaped, a mysterious source from within the town officials removed your name from the wanted list.” Soobin tells him and happiness bubbles within you. Seonghwa is no longer a criminal, and he can return home to Nassau! “If you returned this very second, everyone in this town would welcome you back with open arms, Seonghwa. We’d help you establish a new life here, a house, a eatery, anything you want. We’ve missed you so much the last six years.”
“That’s amazing.” Wooyoung says, turning to glance at Seonghwa. “Hyung, you’re a free man now.”
There is joy in Seonghwa’s eyes as he turns back to look at the soft glow of the town, the place he had grown up in, running along the dirty streets with Soobin and Hyunseok, helping his parents out in the eatery. He can return to Nassau, build a new life with his old friends at his side, meeting the town residents once more and establish himself once more. A life of safety and comfort, one of warmth and joy.
It had been his dream his whole life, to open his own restaurant when he grew up, only for it to be shattered by that terrible event. But now?
Now, all those dreams can come true.
The sea breeze caresses his cheeks, and he turns back to look at the ocean.
What is your Treasure?
Something settles in Seonghwa’s chest, warm and content. He already has his treasure.
Then he shakes his head as he looks at Soobin.
“I can’t.”
The three of you are confused for a moment, all staring at Seonghwa with some sort of shocked expression. What does he mean, he can’t? He can! He can return to Nassau, no longer on the run from the Royal Navy, no longer with a bounty on his head, no longer in fear of death every waking moment. But Seonghwa is insistent.
“I really can’t.” He smiles, turning back to look at you and Wooyoung as he explains himself to Soobin. “I have a new family now.”
Soobin’s eyes soften as you and Wooyoung gape at Seonghwa in shock. “I understand.”
“Well, I don’t!” Wooyoung smacks the back of Seonghwa’s head. “Why don’t you want to return to your hometown, hyung? You’d be safe and have a comfortable life! Soobin and all your friends are here too!”
Seonghwa grins at the smaller man meaningfully.
“Not all of them.”
Your mouth falls open. Seonghwa is choosing to stay a pirate over a comfortable life in Nassau as a cook, like he’s always wanted. He’s giving up everything he’s ever wished for.
“And I haven’t taught Chin Hae all of my kitchen tricks, so how are you going to explain to Captain when the standard of the food drops?”
“Hey!”
Seonghwa laughs, shaking his head as he turns back to Soobin, who’s simply eyeing his friend with a smile. “I have these people who were willing to risk their lives to sneak into Nassau, get shot and whipped just so that I could have closure. I want to stay with them, come what may. Whether it be fair weather or stormy seas, I can’t leave them behind.”
Happiness and disbelief wells up in you. He’s going to stay with the crew. He’s not going to leave all of you behind.
“I know.” Soobin embraces his friend one last time and steps back. Seonghwa moves to join you and Wooyoung, who is still staring at Seonghwa in shock. “I wish you all the best, Seonghwa. Make sure you come back and tell little Hwaseong about all the adventures you’ve had as a bloodthirsty pirate on the high seas.”
Seonghwa gives his friend a smile. He regrets nothing, even as the needle in the compass of his heart settles on a new course.
“I promise.”

Meant To Be || One For Every Billion
7. Definitely Pretty
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hyogo is definitely a big change of pace and scenery from Tokyo, but a welcome one. The last time you were able to visit your aunt and cousin Kazuya was over winter break and it's nice to spend some time with them during the hot summer instead. You've spent your last few days here enjoying chilled tea in tall glasses dripping with condensation and hikes through the mountainous region with Akira and Akari's excited chatter filling the space previously occupied by the gentle sounds of nature. Though you suppose they're both a force of nature in their own way, as well.
Akari, specifically, has used her considerable talent at coercion to drag you and her two brothers to the summer festival today. Although she didn't need to expend much effort convincing you in particular.
Your aunt, their mother, had already painstakingly picked out and bought yukata for each of you, each piece a match for every one of your personal tastes and styles, knowing that at least you and Akari would appreciate the event all decked out. It's not something either of you have much of an opportunity for when you're both back in America.
She also helped you two style your hair and made sure you all took enough pictures to last a lifetime of memories, reminding all of you that someday these would be the moments you look back on with fond reminiscence.
Kazu and Akira have wandered off since you all arrived, saying something about food, so you and Akari decide to investigate the booths that hold various food and souvenirs themed to the event.
The two of you are at a stall studying the various masks displayed for purchase when a group of girls several years younger than you move into the recently emptied space to your right, giggling and whispering before turning to you both.
"Sorry to bother you! We just wanted to say we love both your yukata!" One of them confidently exclaims, jade eyes beaming with excitement and a little nervousness.
You turn to her with a pleased smile, "Thank you, you and your friends look beautiful, as well."
"Do you think? Thank you! My mom helped me pick mine out!" She indicates her pretty jade and white yukata with a lazy gesture, moving slightly closer to you as Akari starts off a conversation about her friend's hair.
You have to grin at her, wondering if this is considered chaotic neutral, a term your friends often seem to apply to you. "Yeah, definitely, I think it fits you perfectly. Really sets off your eyes."
"That's my best feature! Runs in the family actually." She states with a smirk. She's really too precious.
"Rika." A low voice startles you as the speaker comes up from just behind where you're standing.
You turn to meet a stunning copy of her eyes except for the completely uninterested look in them, this pair on an expressionless guy probably about your age. Wow. He's undeniably attractive and you're sure that unbothered but capable air just adds to the appeal. At least for you.
"Rin-onii!" While mostly still exuberant, she seems a little chastised by the single word from the guy that you're assuming is her older brother.
He doesn't say anything as he studies you back with that intensely perceptive gaze before turning away to address his sister, "You shouldn't have wandered off."
Her doe eyes and innocent smile are turned on full force, you guess growing up a younger sibling really teaches one how to do that well. It doesn't actually seem to work on him though as he narrows his eyes with an arch look, cutting her off before she can even try to sweet talk him, "I was forced to come to babysit you, so don't run off again."
She pouts for a small moment before perking back up to say, "But I made a new friend! And she's so pretty, right?"
You can't help the amused smirk that pulls at your lips while you wait for his response. Try and tell me I'm not, I dare you. Pausing for a moment while he stares at his sister, you catch him as, without moving his head, his piercing eyes slide back over to you again, looking sideways and down at you as if the last thing he wants to do is acknowledge you.
Then, instead of answering his sister's question, he finally addresses you directly to ask one of his own, "And who are you?"
You want to laugh at the pure arrogance of his question but instead you shrug and reply, "Right now, I'm just a pretty, new friend. Or should I assume you don't agree?"
This time you think you almost do see the lightest blush, yeah, you directly called out the way he dodged the question to throw the ball back in his court. I can slip audacious questions just as well, pretty boy.
His sister - Rika? - jumps back into the conversation a little cautiously, probably sensing the tension but not understanding why or where from it's originating. Me neither, girl, me neither. "Rin! Don't be so mean! We approached her and her friend first, you can't just demand an introduction!" and then turning away from her actual chastisement of her older brother, she beams up at you before continuing, "I'm Suna Rikona but you can call me Rika! This is my brother Rintaro. You can call him Rin or Rin-Rin."
"Shut it, Rika. That's not appropriate." He rolls his eyes and yes, he's actually blushing now. You wonder for a moment if you could push him further by using his first name to address him but you can't bring yourself to tease a complete stranger just yet. Not this one, at least, for some reason. Oh my god, your friends would be so proud.
"Nice to meet you Rika. You too, I guess...Suna." You follow her suggestion to call her by her nickname but also accommodate her brother after a teasing pause. "My name is L/n F/n. You can call me Y/n though."
You add the last bit with a smirk aimed at Suna whose eyes narrow again on you this time. Hm. Perceptive guy. Those are always interesting.
His eyes shift to your side just as you notice Akari pulling back to rejoin the three of you, along with the three other girls that came up with Rika. You introduce her to the two you're with and then have another round of introductions with Rika's friends, periodically catching Suna watching you every time you look back his way. He's making it really difficult for you to keep your composure.
"We were going to follow the booths down the street and then find a good spot to watch the fireworks." One of Rika's friends - Misa - explains.
Rika picks up from where she leaves off, throwing her pleading puppy dog look your way this time, "Would you please join us?"
While you and Akari have enough practice using that very same look with your own older siblings, you doubt either of you have had to field it and from someone so adorable too. You catch Akari's smothered smile before she meets your eyes and shrugs so you turn to look at Suna who just raises his chin along with a bored eyebrow, like he could care less but still somehow daring you to say something. What that thing is, you don't know him well enough to tell but okay then.
Looking back at Rika who's been giving her brother a frown at seeing his challenging look thrown your way, you laugh and agree, "I don't see why not. We did come here with two others but they've pretty much disappeared by now so I'll text to let them know and then we can go."
"Wait!" Akari cuts in as you pull your phone from the small pouch hanging from your wrist, "We still have to get our masks."
"We should all get one!" Rika declares but Rin lightly flicks the back of her head.
"Didn't you only bring enough for the food."
It's not actually even a question but he must be right because she turns back to him with the pleading look, "But Rin-onii, won't you-"
"No."
Completely deadpan versus completely affectionate, you really have to hold back the laughter at their cute exchange. She continues pleading but is cut off at every one of her sentences by Suna's monosyllable of choice. Eventually, your mirth is completely full and you can't take it anymore.
So as you put away your phone, you offer, "If you pick one for me, I'll get it with yours."
You swear, she and Suna both whip around to face you so fast that you get whiplash.
They speak over each other in the next instant but you can barely make out yet another firm, "No." from Suna over Rika's happy cry, "Really?! Y/n-chan, you're not just the prettiest, you're the best!"
You ignore both Suna's response and even Akari's outraged, "The prettiest?!" and turn back to the stall, Rika bouncing to your side in an instant. She picks out kitsune masks for everyone, a mix of half face and full face for her and her friends but half masks for you and Akari. You also whisper to her to pick out one her brother will like and after a delighted smile your way, points out the final one for your purchase.
Oh my, you can just imagine his eyes through the mask, something to be seen for sure, but you doubt he'll actually put it on. Turning back while Akari exclaims over the masks with Rika and her friends, the latter kindly assisting her with angling it just right on her head, you approach Suna, who's on his phone like he couldn't be bothered.
He looks up at your approach, face finally showing surprise when he sees you holding two masks and, before he can say anything, you extend one to him with, "Rika picked it out, but I think it really suits you too."
He opens his mouth as if to speak but closes it, eyeing the mask before reaching out and taking it gently from you with a quick, "Thanks."
You watch him carelessly arrange it on his head and when you look back to his eyes you realize he was watching you in return. You quickly move to place your own mask against the side of your head, you're sure you're blushing as a small amused smile tugs at his mouth before he gestures at you.
You don't know why and he must read your confusion because he elaborates, "Here." which is not much of an elaboration but it's accompanied by him moving up towards you and then you suddenly find yourself right in front of the bottom half of his face as he reaches up to your hair.
You don't know what you would have done given a cute but strange boy suddenly invading your space the way he just did, but you don't have a chance to find out as realization hits you when you feel the mask shift and settle again, realizing he just fixed its position on your head.
The two of you don't move for a minute as Suna looks down to study you, mask and all, and you hear him say, just for your ears, "Definitely pretty."
Yeah, anyone would blush so who can judge you for it, especially when you finally see his neutrality complete break with an amused grin. It's short and he even chuckles as he backs away, but it's fully wiped off as if it never happened by the time your cousin, Rika, and the rest of the girls swarm you exclaiming over our masks and asking about theirs.
After some reassurances that everyone's masks look incredible, Rika points out, "Rin-onii, I can't believe you actually wore it?!"
He raises an eyebrow with his uncaring, "Yeah? What of it?"
"Nothing.." She trails off as she studies him, then her eyes slide over to you for a moment before zeroing back on her brother, as a sly smile grows on her face. "I guess even you care what some people think, huh?"
He gives her a deadpan stare instead of an answer and she huffs before grabbing one of her friend's and Akari's wrists and starts dragging them to the next booth, other two friends automatically following behind, as she calls over her shoulder, "Whatever! We should get through the rest of these before we run out of time to find a good spot for the fireworks!"
And so, with another look at each other, you both follow in the wake of a natural force quite possibly as powerful as Akari. Which is how you end up spending your evening getting to know the quiet and compelling Suna Rintaro.

Title: Christmas Day
Summary:
Haru convinces Rin to spend Christmas with him in Disneyland and Rin remembers when she used to go there with her parents.
Part two of my present to @hizashi-yamadas for the Animanga Secret Santa 2020
Link to cross-postings: AO3
Link to other parts:
December 24: Christmas Eve  (Toru x Kyo)
December 26: The Day after Christmas (Uo x Kureno)
Note: Merry Christmas Elisha and I hope you enjoy! Keep your eyes out for the next installment :D
Rin wasn’t planning anything big for Christmas. In fact, she had never really done anything for Christmas since she had moved out of her parent’s place and into Kagura’s house. Being reminded everyday by the dynamics of Kagura and her mother of the family life she did not achieve, somehow made her ponder her circumstances as a daughter, as a part of a family.
A holiday as big and supposedly as warm as Christmas despite the biting winter was only mocking her. It did not feel warm at all.
It was like any other cold day in winter and Rin found herself curled up on the blanket at four in the morning when she looked at her phone to see December 25 written on the front and a subheading below which said “Christmas Day.” She had heard that in other countries, Christmas day was an important holiday for families. At least there, it was bearable. Kagura and her mother only made it less bearable because those two liked to spend it together every single damn year.
She was sure Kagura wouldn’t invite her out like they did the first few years. Like every year, Rin was determined to stay alone in the room.
That was until she saw that message under the date.
Won free tickets to Disneyland. Let’s go tomorrow.
It wasn’t a question. In fact, it seemed like an order more than anything. Rin started to consider then, that maybe for that year, her Christmas plans would change. The name she saw above the message only convinced her more, to maybe get out of bed that day and find some other way to celebrate that dreaded holiday.
Rin was quick to reply. As she watched the bar fill as the message was sent, she looked back up at the name at the top of the screen and allowed herself a little smile.
Haru Soma.
Strangely, for the first time in so many years, she was excited for Christmas.
                                         Christmas Day
    It had been years since Rin had been to Disneyland. Or at least, it should have been years since then.
As Rin took in the view of the arc as they entered, the turnstiles and the crowds, it felt like just yesterday. Maybe because the view in Disneyland was timeless. The crowds and the families and the Christmas decorations never changed.
Suddenly, she saw her parents among the crowds and she could imagine them holding her hand and pulling her through the crowds. She was five years old again.
Back then she was happy. Back then, Christmas was magical. Back then, she was looking forward to going home that night and waking up to presents from Santa Claus.
The stark contrast then to what she had at present, the realization that everything had all been a lie, only left a horribly bitter taste in her mouth.
Every face she saw, every child, every parent was smiling. Every smile was warm. And Rin was wondering again what had gone wrong. She looked to Haru, hoping at least to see a warm smile there.
His face was blank. Maybe he was spacing out as they were navigating the crowd. She couldn’t help but be a little disappointed though.
“Where to first?” He asked. As they finally got past the turnstiles and into the crowd.
“You invited me.” I thought you’d be planning it. Rin had hoped he’d read that part with the look she gave him. He seemed unperturbed though.
“Okay, let’s see what looks fun.” He grabbed a guide from the nook on the side and looked through it. “This is my first time here. You’ve been here before right?”
“Maybe.” A long time ago. In another life.
After some walking, they arrived at a point in the park which looked like what could have been an old Western City. The buildings were streaked with colors of Christmas and it was when Rin looked closer did she see they were Christmas lights on green pines. She let herself look a little at it a longer, and a little more carefully. The pine gave an unnatural glint, if one looked closely enough to see it.
They were fake. Probably plastic. She’d been living a fake life for more than half her life. She continued to live completely aware that everything else could be fake The home she was enjoying in Kagura’s home could have been fake. Haru taking her out to Disneyland could have been another stage play.
Everything around her from the Christmas lights and the pine trees and the giant tree that illuminated the darker part of the semi-indoor Christmas town, although breathtaking was definitely fake.
Compared to years ago, Rin was not amazed. In fact, it was frustrating to see something so beautiful yet so blatantly staged.
“You wanna go on a ride?” Haru suggested. “The tower of terror is pretty popular apparently.”
They followed the map to the location of the ride. It wasn’t too hard. The tower stuck out amongst all the other buildings and they only had to follow its general direction to get a feel of where it was. They followed a few more paths, keeping an eye on the tower above.
Eventually, they were near enough to have to look up at it. Rin’s stomach dropped as she bent her head back to see how high the tower really went. She could hear the screams from the inside and the excited chatter from the long line that spilled far out of the entrance. They didn’t help at all.
In fact they only amplified that tingling sensation on her back. Within seconds, it was as if her scars were burning. Somehow, she was lying again on the ground, looking up at the sky, Akito looking down at her from his spot on the window.
“Let’s...get out of here.” Rin managed to say.
“Rin, you okay?”
Rin had felt it many times before. Terror would manifest itself as a million fingers grabbing at her, wrapping himself around her and suddenly she’d be unable to breath. She used to fight them. Something inside her though, still had a weak grip on reality and Rin was at least aware enough of the arm wrapping around her, and the benevolent intentions behind it.
“Let’s get you somewhere quiet.”
Rin knew if at that moment she gave her body any more power, maybe she would have fought against the gentle arm running around her. Maybe she would have kicked or elbowed him from behind, the way she had wanted to when Akito did the same things.
It took more than enough effort but she managed to stop herself, channeling the fear and terror inside her and allowing it to manifest itself as time frozen, as the world going black.
For Rin, time stood still, except for the arms wrapped around her. She let them take her where she needed to go.
                                       Christmas Day
“That was a stupid thing to suggest.. I’m sorry.”
To the average person, Haru’s voice would have sounded emotionless with no shred of guilt. Rin only had to look up at his gaze, to see that the guilt was there and the acknowledgement of his mistake.
“No it wasn’t… We wasted a good five hours of park time cause I just couldn’t get myself together,” Rin commented as she cut up the jelly they had ordered into smaller pieces. It was a simple exercise that was at least helping her clear her mind.
“The tickets were free. If you’re not up to it, we can leave now and just go somewhere else.”
“What are you suggesting?” Rin took one small bite of jelly.
“Maybe a mall? Or just the park? They have a Christmas Market in Hibiya.”
“They’re all crowded. It won’t make a difference.”
“Then maybe we can go back to the main house.”
Rin shook her head. “We’re already here. You got some free tickets. Might as well enjoy it.”
That last part was for herself. They were sitting in a relatively peaceful part of the park. The attractions around that area were geared towards children and Rin couldn’t help but note that compared to the area where the Tower of Terror was, the faces around her were a little more laid back. There were a lot more families with children and a few couples among them.
There was less hustle and competition among them to be first in line. The smiles were at least more relaxed. Many of the children were running freely, their parents following behind them. Even when frazzled, the parents looked happy. And the children, who looked back at their parents gesturing for them to follow, looked carefree.
Must be nice. How long had it been since Rin had smiled like that at her parents? She found herself even questioning her own emotions and her own experiences. And as she thought back to the same face her parents made, and the same way they had chased her through the park more than a decade ago, Rin realized one important thing.
“I’ve been here before.”
“I was sure your parents have taken you here before. Back when were kids, they never stopped bragging about your happy family vacations over Soma family dinners.”
Of course Haru would have remembered more than him. The shock at realizing that everything had all been part of an act, that every happy memory as a child had all been a lie had all been  part of some large production, made it difficult for Rin to recall them at will.
Lies were things that simply didn't exist in reality. How could she grasp for something that never existed as something beyond an act or a lie?
The memories were still somehow vague but they were enough to rouse a little curiosity within her.
“Let’s go on a ride?”
“What are you thinking?”
Rin only had to point ahead for Haru to understand. The building was hidden behind trees from their angle. The bright colors of the castle stuck out. That was also the only ride within their field of vision.
Rin had to pick at her head to remember what exactly went on inside the ride. The cartoony Eiffel tower and the clock tower in odd and exquisite yet unrealistic shades were all too familiar. As a child, they had reminded her and even hinted to possibly a world beyond her own, complementing the many fairy tales and folk tales she had heard as a child. That part of her memory was at least what made the view in front of her as they closed in on the ride, all the more familiar.
As they got nearer and Rin let the trauma-hardened cynic within her take over, she started to notice the unnatural glint of cement and cheap paint, as the afternoon sunlight shined on it. Somehow, it had become comforting to know that even in that magical place, there were still some things that were bogus. That no one was exempt from stage plays and productions in life.
She didn’t know how long they were in line. She had occupied herself though flitting between her child self and her present self. Allowing herself to enjoy the mixture of colors and the fantastical artwork and then taking note of any indication of its artificiality when she found herself becoming envious of the children who haven’t yet lost the wonder in their eyes.
Haru was silent. At the least they were both comfortably silent.
When they had gotten nearer to the front of the line, that was when she started to remember further, what had made the artworks stick out a little longer.
There is just one moon and one golden sun and a smile means friendship to everyone.
Though the mountains divide and the oceans are wide...
It’s a small world after all. Rin found herself humming the characteristic chorus even preempting the actual music.
For a while she was smiling. For a while, she was enjoying it. It at least lasted until they secured a seat inside the small boat. The combination of the music and the carefree atmosphere as children rushed to the fronts screaming and laughing, made it all the easier for Rin to pretend that one of them was the Rin from ten years ago.
The cacophony of music and laugher and the bombardment of bright colors and lights made it difficult for Rin to feel the lump on her throat and the heaviness in her chest as the boat moved through it.
For a second though, everything was black. It could have been less than a split second, maybe an interval before the scenery changed. It was enough for the lump in her throat to make itself known, and the heaviness in her chest to push a little further. And even as the lights came up again and the scenery changed from fantastical Europe to a rendition of what looked like Arabian nights. Magical Carpets. Asian towers and what could have been a Jungle Book Puppet.
They were as beautiful as the last area. Rin had to note. The lump and the heaviness had taken over though and before Rin could even stop it, she felt a tear slide down her cheek.
The careful and intricate combinations of music and dancing puppets had created a beautiful experience for her as a child. Enough for her to recall the details decades later, everything all the way until the arm around her and the soft voice from her mother.
Stay nearer to the middle Rin, we don’t want you falling out.
Was it all a lie? Was her mother’s concern then a lie? The music was coming from some speakers. The puppets were just carefully choreographed and carefully programmed to make it look magical to a child. If Rin looked at them one by one though, she could see that the movements were too mechanical and repetitive.
Just like her own parents.
Rin had enough control of herself at least to guide herself out of the ride and to navigate among the crowds going out through the exit without bumping into any man. Haru could have been helping her then but at that moment she didn’t care.
She just wanted to get out.
“I’m not going back here again,” Rin said. “It’s fucking fake. Everything in this park is fucking fake.”
Once again, Haru and Rin were on a bench in the middle of the park. Rin was on her second cup of jelly. She appreciated the fact that the jelly and the burst of sweetness that came when it melted on her mouth wasn’t fake at least.
“Of course they are. They’re all man made attractions. If you wanted something real, we could have gone to a safari.”
“Then why do people like it so much?” Why did I enjoy it so much then? Once again, she was envious of the children passing by and the child within her for being able to enjoy something so artificial. Rin swirled the jelly in the cup in anger, completely transforming it into something which resembled pudding and water more than jelly.
“I don’t think people like the rides for the rides or the buildings for the buildings. It’s the atmosphere which makes it something worthwhile. I had fun today. I don’t think I would have had as much fun if I were alone though.”
Rin felt the blood rush into her face and she found herself mixing the jelly in the cup a little quicker, regretting it a second later as it started to feel more like water than jelly.
“It’s getting dark.”
Rin should have noticed the way the bright colors around the park were a little dimmer. She had been too focused on her own memories than what was there in front of her. And as the sky above her gradually shifted from shades of red to purple, Rin had to note that it was an unfamiliar site, particularly the way the colors around her adjusted to the new lighting as the street lights around the park started to light up.
The sun would set at late afternoon during winter. Her parents had always brought her out of the park as soon as the sun started to make its way below the horizon, even before the sky turned a bright orange.
It was a new scenery and with no memory to grab on to, Rin found herself looking at Haru next to her. He was quiet. It wasn’t anything too unusual. A feeling of guilt still washed over Rin as she realized she had spent the whole day focusing on herself and on the memories the park had brought her. She had spent her hours in the park, on the memories of her parents when there was someone next to her, who she could have at least enjoyed it with.
“Hey, before we go home, there’s something I wanna check out.”
Rin did not protest. She followed silently behind him as they made their way through the park. Her legs were aching already from the long walks and she was a little hungry, having only eaten two cups of jelly the whole day. She was starting to feel ashamed of herself and she knew she owed Haru at least that much.
By the time Haru had stopped, the sky was already dark, and the source of the illumination and colors around the park came from the streetlights around them.
They were in an area with bleachers and in front of them was a large body of water that stretched out in both directions.
“A lights show. I just thought it would look cool.” He waved the flier in front of her. “You’ve been to one before?”
Rin shook her head. She had been to Disneyland multiple times, but had never stayed late enough to see it at night.
The streets illuminated by a combination of the street lights and the Christmas lights on the way to the bleachers had been something new to her. As Rin watched as the water shot out of the ground in rhythm to the orchestra music playing in the background and as the colors scattered into different shades of the rainbow from a solid blue, Rin was sure, she had never seen something like that in her life.
The view of Disneyland at night was something completely new to her. It was new. It was exciting. She didn’t even notice the shallow breath she head let out in amazement as smoke appeared from somewhere mixing into the teal and the blue, a rendition very similar to that of the Northern Lights.
There was no unnatural glint of plastic to pick out. No individual movement to analyze. In fact, she didn’t even attempt to, for the first time, she was completely entranced by the performance in front of her.
It was a production, a play, just like the one her parents had made her watch for so many years. Somehow, the colors and the lights looked too authentic.
As it ended, she found herself just sitting, wishing it hadn’t ended, praying for an encore even as the people in front of her started to file out and a voice from some speakers were reminding people to watch their steps as they made their way out.
“You don’t wanna leave yet?” It was Haru’s voice that finally made her accept that the performance was done.
She had a short bout of laughter.  It was an involuntary motion, an instinctive reaction to the situation in front of her. It could have possibly been directed at  her own inability to process that it was over. As she looked at Haru though, she suddenly felt the need give a hard squeeze the hand that was on top of her for a large part of the spectacle.
“It was amazing.” Rin had wanted to say more but found herself at a loss for words. In the end everything from her head spinning in excitement, the blood rushing through her face and what could have been tears of joy or excitement creeping up at the corners of her eyes all culminated into one phrase. “Thank you.”
“It’s my first time seeing you this amazed,” He commented. “So, I guess you felt the magic?”
Felt the magic. It was a joke. An allusion to the introductory lines of the spectacle.
“Yeah I felt it.” As ridiculous as the word play was, Rin found herself playing along.
“Places are fun because of the people there,” Haru said. “I know your past memories in Disneyland are complete horseshit now. But it doesn’t have to be horseshit every single time.”
Rin felt a slight tingle of what could have been a mixture of excitement or assurance that spidered through her whole body. She traced the origins back to her hand he had squeezed in return.
“I’m not your parents Rin,” Haru continued. “Unlike them, I’m not putting up any lies in front of you. I had a lot of fun today.”
Rin had been betrayed enough to know what lies look like, how to pick out an overly rehearsed smile, the mechanics of rehearsed movements and glint. It only followed that she could pick out an absence of it.
Haru’s eyes were looking right at her, the smile a little too small, a little too hesitant to have been something he had rehearsed for a long time before that day.
In fact, he rarely thought his movements and his actions through. Maybe that’s why she had always trusted him. He never rehearsed, he never contemplated the next course of action. His decisions, his actions and words were usually too impulsive and too natural given circumstances to have been rehearsed.
His next few words would probably have been considered awkward to any other woman. Maybe a little too immature. Rin found herself opening up a little more, allowing herself to smile a little a little wider and to lean closer and onto his shoulder.
Her parents were the last thing on her mind. The young Rin and the magic of her experience in that park were a distant memory, all upstaged by the echoes of Haru’s words as they watched the dark stage in front of them in silence.
Let’s make new memories together.

Parent Trap, Ch. 6
NicoMaki, Love Live, 3.8K, 6/?
Summary: More things happen in the wrong order.
Girls On Film
Eli had texted that Nico had stopped by the office, upset, so Eli would be home too late for dinner. Nozomi frowned as the evening went on and the twins restlessness increased. So she sat them down with their own decks of playing cards, pulled out her Tarot cards and focused on Eli.
Lovers, always The Lovers, always connected with Eli. Magician Reversed, that was a little concerning. Something not going according to plan...followed by a reversed Ten Of Cups, the idyllic family scene overturned, conflicting values...Nozomi frowned and dealt another card: Queen Of Wands. That was a relief. Or a call to face up to something. But definitely an argument that even if Nozomi’s current path hit a few bumps, there was confidence in her decision.
“Mommy?”
Vik, ever sensitive to mood, sat next to Nozomi. Teddy was using both decks to build a card tunnel.
“Yes, Vik.”
“Is Mama mad at you?”
Vik always got to the point. They were extremely reliable about finding the one nagging weakness in either Nozomi or Eli’s arguments about anything and skewering it, directly on target.
“No, Auntie Nico just wanted to talk to her.”
“Is Auntie Nico mad at you?”
Nozomi chuckled, that was the question that kept coming back to her mind. “I don’t know, Рыбка (sweetie), maybe…”
Vik pointed at the Queen Of Wands, “That’s a Queen? She has short hair like me.”
“Yes, she does.”
“Is she friendly?”
Nozomi bobbed her head, debating how to reply. Vik had been showing more interest in the Tarot recently, “Friendly, but firm if you’ve messed up.”
“Like Mama.”
Nozomi couldn’t hold in the belly laugh as Vik spoke exactly what she’d been thinking.
“MOMMY!!! Look at this.” Teddy was waving frantically at her tunnel, tilting precariously at the start. “Take a picture for Mama.”
“Okay, Солнце (Sunshine).” Nozomi grabbed her phone, Vik sliding into her seat to examine the cards closer.
###
Nico hadn’t texted or called. Maki had to force herself to stop pacing next to Dia’s crib when she got her tucked in for the night. Dia had been fussy all day, but with no nap, actually fell asleep easily. Maybe a long soak was would be relaxing. Maki turned on the baby monitor, set up candles, dropped a lavender bath bomb, but couldn’t get Nico out of her mind. The mood had been so strange. Nico and her mother had obviously been having a private, complicated conversation and Maki couldn’t ignore the gut feeling that it was about her.
Maki really liked Nico. And although that morning in Philly had been intense, it hadn’t felt rushed. Nico had just made a safe space for them, for Maki to express what she wanted. What she really wanted. And really wanted again and again, which was an unusual feeling for her. The few times she’d been physically intimate with a potential partner, there had been affection, but no urgency about what next. Not seeing Nico, thinking maybe that this time Nico was the one indifferent, lacking urgency, that actually seemed to hurt. And Maki needed to know that she was guessing wrong about Nico’s feelings.
Panic stripped away subtext. And she sent the text before she could reread it.
M: Was today too much? Dia just really wanted to see you.
M: So did I. I’ve been looking forward to you being back in Chicago so we could ….
M: But we didn’t have to rush into the family thing...with your Mom...I can do casual…
Maki reread what she’d sent. And dropped her phone on the tray next to the bath. Too much, too clingy...Nico was going to forget Maki’s number and be on the way to her next, non clingy post concert groupie as soon as she could…
###
Nico stared intently at the screen of her phone, willing Eli to text her that Nozomi was crushed by the weight of guilt and Maki was fine with Nico continuing to court her....court her. Nico raspberried herself...this wasn’t courting, this was Nico wanting everything with the hot, fascinating, really into Nico Maki Nishikino...but what if Dia already happened to be theirs? Because of something Nozomi did. That would weird Maki out, make everything strange, and Nico had been sensing Maki leaning toward psyching herself out. Nico had been hoping getting back to Chicago would let Nico get them back on track, but what could Nico say if she saw Maki, without stumbling over Dia.
Maki’s text tone. Eli was weak and hadn’t done anything yet, she was probably driving around in circles pyching herself up to talk to Nozomi. And Eli had impressed upon Nico exactly how much grief Maki’s parents' lawyers could make for both of them, making Nico swear not to talk to Maki until Eli did. But Eli was weak… And Maki was texting.
M: But we didn’t have to rush into the family thing...with your Mom...I can do casual…
Nico had done casual a couple of times. She didn’t want it. She wanted the connection she felt when Maki looked at her, the openness, the vulnerability, the trust....and from what little Maki had said about her dating life prior to Nico, Nico guessed that intimacy had led to cooling off, so Maki was probably freaking out ‘cause Nico had been blowing her off all day. But not because of Maki reasons…
Nico’s promise to Eli wasn’t as important as Maki. Maki obviously needed emotional aftercare. Nico hit call.
“Nico?”
Maki sounded like she’d been caught mid yawn. It was adorable.
“Hi, Maki. Sorry I didn’t get back to you about takeout. Had to talk to Eli.”
“Is everything all right, Nico?” Nico heard a splash? Was Maki in the bath? The phone was obviously on speaker.
“Nico would like to join you in the bath.”
Maki laughed, it was euphoric, Nico was so hooked, Maki's voice hit Nico in all the good places. “They used to do that in movies, talk on the phone in their separate bubble baths, put their feet up, show off some leg.”
“Nico would love to see that.”
“So would I.” A little bit shy. Nico was beginning to forget why she’d been reluctant to call Maki.
“I’m in bed…”
“What’d you have for dinner.”
“Didn’t.”
“You sound like me in med school.”
“What were you like in med school? Were you buried in books? Or bodies? Dating cute nurses? Would you even have noticed Nico ten years ago?”
“How could anyone not notice Nico?”
“That’s what Nico always says…” Nico seized on an idea, maybe she could actually keep their conversation clear of things that Nico wasn’t ready to talk about, “What would we have talked about ten years ago?”
“I had this terrible roommate.”
“Really?”
“Really. Wild party animal, had to barricade myself in my room.” Maki sounded more amused than upset.
“You snuck into the parties, didn’t you?”
A pause, what might be towel noises. Nico desperately wanted a video call, “Maybe…but then my grades dropped and I moved back home.”
Keep this vibe going, Nico told herself. “So what did you do for fun after your brush with the wild side?”
“Piano. And Rin and I played soccer in a league. That was fun.”
“Nico bets you looked cute in your uniform.”
Sexy indignation that made Nico want to rip off whatever Maki had covered herself with, “ I looked HOT, Nico, I was 22 and in great shape.”
“You’re still in great shape, Nico knows.”
A giggle, a pause, two people syncing up again.
“What were you like ten years ago?” Maki asked softly, her voice a frisson in Nico's ear.
“Too busy for anything. Constantly on tour. Studying finance on the side. I got my economics degree over six years. Magna cum laude.”
“I didn’t know that.”
“Nico planned to be a success. Now the suits can’t say Nico doesn’t know how business works.”
“Impressive.” Maki breathed.
‘Nico strives.”
###
10 p.m. Nozomi was getting worried. Eli was never out this late. Nozomi had let the twins roughhouse past their bedtime because whenever Eli got home, there was going to be a serious conversation. Although the cards had been full of warnings about that, Nozomi knew the truth in her gut before she dealt out the spread.
Key in the door, sigh as Eli closed it behind her. Eli, looking tired, wearing glasses, she’d been crying. She stopped, clear gaze meeting Nozomi’s.
“I’ve hurt my oldest friend, exposed myself to litigation, and could lose my practice. Was that what you meant to happen, Nozomi?”
Nozomi winced.
Eli had her hands shoved in the pockets of her overcoat, “What were you thinking?”
“About?”
“Nozomi.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Eli. Has Nico been lying about me?”
Eli glared, her jaw set, nostrils flared. “If this is how you’re going to behave, I’ll be in the guest room.”
“That upsets the twins. Can’t you just pretend to fall asleep on the couch again?” Nozomi knew this was not the ideal way to react, but with Eli so serious, she found an edge of panic pushing her to impulsive speech.
“Nozomi…” Eli’s hands were warm and strong as she held Nozomi’s, “Please just explain why you altered Nico’s paperwork.”
“I had a feeling.”
“Nico was crying. Maki’s going to be livid.”
Nozomi felt a twinge of guilt, sure, but she also knew that everything would work out. This must be about Dia. Nico and Maki were getting along, that was obvious from Nico’s texts to Eli. Surely they could sort it out.
“I’d like to say something to Maki that doesn’t just sound like my wife played a stupid prank. Please, Nozomi, help me understand.”
Nozomi giggled, “I had a feeling, Eli. The cards had told me there would be a change in Nico’s fortunes and then I saw her in your office…she obviously wants a family, Eli, she always has, you told me that. I just want to help the universe give her one. Just let them work it out."
Eli had no reply. When Nozomi doubled down on ‘the cards’ and intuition, there was no opening for Eli to logic her out of her beliefs. And the damnable thing was, it always worked out. But this wasn’t their life, this was Nico and Maki and Dia’s. Nozomi had been wrong to meddle. And left Eli terribly vulnerable.
Too exhausted to argue or strategize any more, Eli tossed her coat on the couch. “I’m going to bed. I have to talk to Maki tomorrow.”
“Did you eat?”
Eli shrugged.
“It will work out, Eli. Have faith."
Eli shook her head, “Good night, love.”
A too quick kiss on the cheek, leaving Nozomi alone, to curl up in Eli’s coat, on a corner of the couch, unpleasantly surprised by Eli’s intransigence. Had she gone too far this time?
###
A long afternoon, Maki finally getting a chance to look at her phone. Message from Raye, Dia’s nanny. Dia fussy and running a fever, over a hundred. Maki bit her lip. That might explain yesterday’s fit of temper and how easily Dia fell asleep last night.
“Dr. Nishikino?” The lab tech came around the corner.
“What’s up, Kadir?”
“Do you want to see the results of Mx. Nabe’s bloodwork?”
Maki glanced at her smart watch. Her shift was over twenty minutes ago. And the late dinner with Nico was now probably not going to happen. “Let me check something.” Maki walked confidently to the call board. Tonight’s on call orthopedic surgeon was Dr. Wilhimena Mae Tompkins. Top of the line. Maki’s first or second choice. “Just send them to Dr. Tompkins. The patient’s already been moved to a room, right?”
“Orderlies just took her upstairs.”
“Guess I’m done here then. Dia’s running a fever so I’ve got one more patient to see.” Maki winked, Kadir grinned.
“See you in a couple days then, Doc. And I hope Dia feels better.”
“Thanks. I’m sure it’s nothing. She’s probably teething.”
Now to text Nico.
###
Nico hadn’t heard from Eli all day. Obviously Eli had chickened out. Like Nico expected. Time for a call. Eli picked up.
“Are you hiding from your wife in your office?”
“Shut up, Nico.”
“Don’t talk to Nico like that. You promised Nico you’d talk to Maki. Have you talked to Maki?”
No reply.
“Eli.”
“I’m still working out what to say.”
“Start with, I really didn’t mean for my nosy, pushy, annoying hussy of a wife to…”
“Don’t talk about Nozomi like that.”
NIco sighed, “C’mon, Eli. Nozomi is currently on the bottom of Nico’s friend list. I’m not going to be nice.”
“She’s my wife, Nico. It’s complicated.”
“What is happening to Nico is complicated. You’re just not willing to deal with the consequences of your wife’s intrusive, illegal, apocalyptic meddling. Nico could sue.”
“Yes, you could.” Eli sounded so tired, but Nico had zero sympathy for the enabler.
“Talk to Maki or I will.”
“Nico.”
End call. Before Nico could put her phone down, Maki’s text tone pinged.
M: Dia’s got a fever. I’m heading home. We'll have to postpone dinner ●︿●
N: Nico will bring dinner over (っ˘ڡ˘ς)
M: Pizza?
Nico chuckled.
N: Whatever the sexy doctor wants.
M: Pizza ᕕ[ ᓀ ڡ ᓂ ]ㄏ─∈
M: And you (^_-)
N: Is an hour good?
M: Sure.
N: See both my best girls then.
Nico hit Eli’s number.
“Tell Maki.”
“Tomorrow.”
“Eli.”
“I’m drafting a presentation to explain right now.”
“Include a big picture of Nozomi with an arrow pointing to guilty.”
“Good night, Nico.”
“Talk to Maki, Eli. Or Nico talks to lawyers.”
Eli seemed more concerned about Nico and the Nishikino’s lawyers than what Nozomi’s action had cost Nico. Eli continued to fail, freefalling down Nico’s friend list. Another call. Mama. Nico let that go to voicemail. Maybe she should forward that voicemail and the three before it to Eli. Maybe then Eli would realize some of the pressure Nico was feeling.
###
Nico knocked. Maki was right there, opening the door, in a showcasing all her curves casual combo of black leggings and a mostly undone gray henley. She waved Nico into the wide open family room that seemed to make up at least 70% of the first floor of the carriage house. A baby grand was tucked into a windowed corner, a huge sectional sofa was centered and facing the fireplace, and the walls were decorated with seasonal photos of a shrine and what looked like birds and dragons restored from antique wooden screens. Set a calm, classy mood.
“So are the Disney movie posters in your bedroom, Cinderella?” Nico bounced up to kiss Maki.
Maki smiled, “I took these photos myself, during some visits to Kyoto and Tokyo, before med school, and the screens are damaged family heirlooms I restored sections of.”
“Hands on decorating.”
“I want Dia to grow up with her heritage around her.”
Silent, Nico walked around the sectional, putting the pizza boxes on the wood and glass table, not sure what to say about Dia.
“She’s feeling better, I think. Her fever went down.” Maki leaned on the sofa back.
“Good.”
“Want to check in on her and say hello before we eat?”
Nico deflected. “Pizza first?”
Maki opened the box with Carmen’s excellent stuffed pesto pizza. A garlic smell wafted out with the steam, filling the room, “It’s still hot.”
“Nico delivered pizzas for a summer. I know the tricks.”
“Nico knows a lot. Let's say good night to Dia.” Maki slid her arm through Nico’s, stealing a quick kiss and half dragging Nico to the stairs.
###
Dia’s nursery was blue and green and white, with a sea and lighthouse theme. Fish and mammals and turtles played on the walls. In the low light of the nightlight, there was an almost bioluminescent glow to the undersea residents.
“Nico is surprised Little Mermaid wasn’t a choice when we talked Disney movies.”
“Don’t like that one…” Maki muttered.
“No, it’d be hard to lose your voice.”
“And music.”
“Yeah. Nico would hate that.”
They stood at the crib, Nico staring down at Dia, Maki watching Nico, Nico trying not to remember Cotaro in his crib, dark hair, serious face...Dia was relaxed, arms flung out, a tiny smile on her face.
What if they were in their house, standing together, Maki and Nico, both of them, looking at a child they’d had together after a whirlwind courtship and marriage? What if this were Nico’s house and when Dia woke up, she looked at Nico, saying “Momma,” and reaching up for a hug? What if…?
“She’s beautiful.” Nico whispered and then her breath hitched and sudden water in her eyes stung. She let go of the crib and rushed to the door.
“Good night, Dia. We’ll see you tomorrow.” Maki left the lightest of kisses on her daughter’s forehead, wondering if she’d seen tears in Nico’s eyes. But Nico was already downstairs, considering the stuffed pizzas.
“Do you want pesto or sausage? And we need plates. And forks. And…”
“I’ve had stuffed pizza before, Nico. Just give me a minute to find the pie server.”
###
Cocoa had raved about a movie called The Half Of It so Nico suggested they watch that. Maki had recognized it, but said Nico needed to watch Saving Face, director Alice Wu’s first movie, about a doctor and a dancer and their families.
“You’ll love the mom. She’s so funny.”
“And the main character’s a doctor? So Nico will find out what doctoring is like?”
“Yep.”
The movie progressed; the pizza was eaten, with occasional garlic flavored kisses shared, but Maki kept picking up unease from Nico. Was it lingering from yesterday, the obvious tension between Nico and her mom? Or whatever Nico and Eli had talked about last night? Something obviously had claimed some of Nico’s attention. But after pizza, Maki had curled up next to Nico, encouraging Nico to drop her arm around Maki’s shoulder. And as the flirting between Wil and Vivian got sexier, kisses and more intimate gestures right there on the screen, building a mood, Maki could feel Nico pull her closer. Maki nudged Nico on the cheek, getting her to turn, tempting her into a luring, longing kiss. Whatever worries had been on Nico’s mind had been eclipsed, Maki smiling as she felt agile hands slide under her shirt, warm against bare skin, Nico murmuring endearments between kisses and shiver inducing nibbles along Maki’s neck and jaw.
And then Nico’s phone went off, one of her raps.
“Damn it.” Nico grabbed for her phone, Maki falling down on the couch when Nico let go, “It’s Cocoro’s emergency tone. Sorry.” And all Nico’s attention was on the call, “What’s up? Nico’s super busy....Yes, Maki and Dia came to the house yesterday. Did Mama tell you?”
Dia? Alert, Maki sat up.
Nico was listening. “What did Mama say...why...no, we can’t say that….Nico won’t let…”
Maki had no idea why Nico’s sister had anything to say about Dia. Nico had turned away, about to get off the couch, Maki reached over Nico’s shoulder, pulling the phone away, switching it to speaker.
“Why are you talking about my daughter?”
“Dr. Nishikino?” Cocoro’s voice was tense, “You’re there? Good, then we can settle what the language should be.”
“What language? Why does Nico have anything to do with Dia?”
Nico grunted, it reminded Maki of someone stubbing a toe.
“Pictures have been circulating on TWIG of Nico Yazawa’s secret daughter.”
“Nico doesn’t have a secret daughter…” Maki suddenly realized she was doing all the talking, “Nico?”
Nico took her phone back, leaving it on speaker, but switching to the TWIG app. A quick search of “#Nico” brought up a snap of Nico hugging Dia in front of her house, Nico’s mother in the background, Maki nowhere to be seen.
Nico stared. Cocoro continued to panic chatter, “All we need to do is release a picture of you, Dr. Nishikino, Dr. Nishikino’s daughter, and the statement that you and Dr. Nishikino are dating and Dia is not your daughter. People are running facial match software and getting confirmation. Next they’ll be wondering who the father is…”
“Dia doesn't have a father,” Maki’s fists clenched. No one but Eli was supposed to have any details of her pregnancy with Dia.
“Shut up. Both of you.” Nico snapped, the phone dropping to the couch, Nico’s head dropping into her hands.
“Just tell them Dia’s my daughter.”
Cocoro's tone brightened. “Dr. Nishikino is being unexpectedly helpful, Nico. We can get ahead of this.”
“Just release the statement, Cocoro. Nico and I can talk to the press.” A practical solution, Maki decided.
“Let Nico think. Both of you. Just be quiet. Nico needs quiet.” Nico ended the call.
“Nico, Dia is my daughter. We can just tell everyone. We don’t have to keep us dating a secret. I don’t care what my parents think.” Maki sat next to Nico, brushing fingers through Nico’s hair.
There was a long pause, Nico enjoying Maki's touch. Then she pulled away. “Maki could just marry me. That might save Nico.” Nico sounded like someone hanging onto a building ledge by a ladder made of split fingernails and cruel laughter.
Nico’s tone and odd behavior scared Maki, “How can you joke about that, Nico?”
Nico raised her head, tears streaming down her face, “You don’t know this yet, but Nico is a terrible liar.”
“What does that mean Nico? Do you have a secret daughter…”
“Maki…”
Maki’s ringtone went off. She glanced at her phone, “It’s Eli.”
Nico dropped her head again, “Answer it. We might as well blow everything up.”
Maki hit speaker, snarling, “What is it, Eli? Want to let me know Dia is Nico’s daughter too?”
“Oh good,” Eli sounded relieved, “Nico told you.”
Maki was on her feet, shouting, “NICO TOLD ME WHAT?!!!???!!!”
“About her paperwork? And Nozomi? I'm really sorry, Maki.”
Maki felt pale. Her knees wobbled. The room unfocused. Black spots dotting everything. Nico ended the call.
Before Maki could fall, Nico was there, “Maki? C’mon, breathe. Take it slow, breathe for Nico.”
Maki shook off Nico, and ran upstairs to Dia, pulling her out of her crib, holding her tightly, Dia blinking, confused. Nico was there, almost instantly.
“Can we talk?”
“Go away, Nico.”
“Maki. Please.”
“GO AWAY NOW, NICO!” Maki screamed. “Leave us alone.”
Dia started to cry.
Nico stepped back, “Call me later, please, Maki. Or let Eli explain. I’ll have Cocoro tell everyone Dia’s your daughter. I’m sorry this happened like this." A pause, Nico reaching a hand out, almost touching them. "It’ll be all right, Dia.”
“Don’t tell Dia anything.” Maki growled, Dia pressed against her as she glared at Nico, daring her to come any closer.
Retreating into the hall, Nico forced tears back, or she’d be wailing as loud as Dia. How had this gone so wrong?
A/N: Rainy, moody weather.
