Ruudt Peters- Jewellery installation
Peters is a Dutch artist who has played a leading role in his country’s avant-garde artistic movement since the seventies, He creates work centred on sexuality and uses jewellery and installation to create unusual and slightly abrasive work.
“Jewelry is my laboratory" is the way Peters describes his process on creating his pieces. He mentions the scale of jewellery means he can manipulate things with his own hands which helps him to connect to his work further.
The series of 99 wearable models interested me, it pushes the boundaries of what is considered jewellery. The pieces themselves are wearable, each model being distinctly different from the next.
'In my opinion, a piece of jewelry or art needs afflatus. This term comes from the Dutch word bezieling. The word is difficult to translate. But it has to do with spirit, soul, and energy. When a jewel has no afflatus, the jewel is dead. In other words, it cannot communicate anything. But, how do you get afflatus into a piece? It’s a mystery. You can’t will yourself to make afflatus in a piece. You have to pay attention so that all your energy, love, dedication, power, and spirit go into the work. In the end, maybe afflatus will show up or maybe not'
^this quote really interested me. As a jewellery collector myself, I have lots of pieces that probably lack 'afflatus' as I like to layer my jewellery to the point of it looking rather strange so I need such a vast amount. However, some carry soul and character despite appearance because of their origin which I find fascinating. I love the way jewellery can change appearance, I love the sentiment of it the way it can turn dull into extravagant.
If im going to pursue this subject matter id like to look further into this, what makes a piece interesting, why do people choose to adorn themselves in this way?

Bron / Fonte.

The only solution on making good work and have a good life is repetition, remake-remake-remake, do-do-do, don’t think- don’t think- make failures and learn from that- make and reflect- fall on your face - but try again.
You are never to old to learn. Every day is a new learning moment.
The sky is the limit.
Go-go-go.

India’s Jewelry Tradition of Gold is Turning to … Concrete?
Ms. Ahluwalia, who describes herself as India’s first conceptual jewelry artist, studied with the pioneering conceptual jeweler Ruudt Peters in the Netherlands in 2010, and says the contemporary jewelry designs created by Dutch designers in the 1970s continue to inspire her.
“In 2003, when I began making jewelry, I found the customers very excited and enthusiastic about finding jewelry that…
