I HATE THIS! (Part II)

This is the worst f*cking form of torture EVER.

WHY?!

WHY IS IT DOING THIS?!

WHY STILES?!

WHY SCOTT?!

WHY OUR PACK?!

I F*CKING HATE THIS!!

WHY ARE YOU PULLING THE CAIN AND ABEL THING?!

WHY?!

WHY DO ENEMIES INSIST ON DOING THAT?!

IT'S SO NOT F*CKING FAIR!!

Especially because Stiles is totally gonna try to do it.

Because it means saving everyone he cares about, and saving everyone Scott cares about, and that's all that matters to him right now.

But I still have faith that Scott would never, because like he said at the very beginning, the plan is to save Stiles, and killing him would be the exact f*cking opposite of that.

But I'm so f*cking scared, because I don't see this ending well at all.

I would love to say that I sincerely doubt they're gonna kill someone else after they just killed Allison, but I don't REALLY doubt it.

I kind of doubt they'd kill any of the parents (and yes, I say any, because DEATON TOTALLY COUNTS OKAY?!), and I know they're not gonna actually kill Stiles (unless they do and then bring him back somehow? Oh my god I hadn't even considered that...they could do something like that...oh god now I AM genuinely scared that Stiles is gonna try), but I would honestly be a lot less surprised if they killed Kira (because apparently Scott can't have a love interest period), and I could also see them killing Derek or the twins, and god I HOPE I'm wrong, and I hope to GOD that nobody else dies, but I don't f*cking trust this show, and I'm sure it'll somehow break my heart in half AGAIN (as if it isn't already in pieces), and I just...I don't even know what to do anymore.

But you know what?!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

As long as Sciles is okay, we're okay.

So as long as they DON'T LET STILES KILL HIMSELF, and DON'T MAKE SCOTT KILL HIM (I would legitimately riot if they did that I don't care how many years it's been since Season 3 first aired), then it'll be fine, okay??

I'll be fine as long as you DON'T HURT MY SCILES!!

SO PLEASE DON'T HURT MY SCILES!!

There HAS to be another way!

(Adorable Sciles that comes later in the show because I need to remind myself that he's going to be okay before I get traumatized by the inevitable sacrifice attempt that I'm sure I'm about to see. :( )

I guess I'm not a fan of Sciles. I see them as too brotherly. And I think their chemistry is brotherly too. So it's never been for me. Scisaac - I can find all the Sterek I want, but I find Scissac few and far between. They tend to be a background ship in Sterek fics. So I would LOOOOVEEE more of these boys because they are my #2 OTP. I just love the way Scott immediately cares about and is close to Isaac, and how it surprises Isaac but he just GIVES in and lets Scott care about him, and trusts Scott. Anyway. It's beautiful. That's all I'm saying.

Stydia - I just wanted them to be besties. I thought they had GREAT best friend chemistry. And I don't care for the "nerd follows hot girl her entire life, basically stalking her, and somehow wins her in the end despite the SUPER creepy behaviour" dynamic. I know they grow. But it's really rooted in that. And I think they're both better than that.

I love the idea of Derek and Erica's relationship. Once Derek chills out. I just... I feel like he'd be really close with her, and she wouldn't let him get away with any bullshit. And I just love that. And I think Derek would too.

Stiles and Scott. Scott and Stiles. Best friends who were more like brothers. And sometimes… brothers fight over a girl… and I am not liking the fact that I’m in the middle of them, and not knowing who they’re fighting over!

“Watch, she’ll choose me,” Scott whispered.

“No, she’s gonna choose me,” Stiles whispered back.

Setting my pencil down on my lab station, I looked over at Isaac, seeing him trying not to crack a smile as I whispered, “They do realize I can hear them, right? I may not be a supernatural creature, but I can still hear them.”

Putting his hand over his mouth, Isaac let out a snort, to which he covered by clearing his throat.

“You’re no help, Lahey,” I whispered. Turning to look at my best friends, I noticed their intense stares at each other. “Who the hell are you two arguing about?”

“Ms. (Y/L/N)!”

Turning around, I faced Harris as he glared at me from his desk. “Yes, Mr. Harris?”

“If I have to separate you, Mr. Stilinski and Mr. McCall again, I will personally make the rest of your high school career a living hell,” he said. “Now, quiet.”

“Y-yes, sir,” I stuttered, looking back at my paper. Looking up at Harris through my lashes, I whispered, “Scott, you and Stiles are in for a world of hurt when that bell rings.”

Hearing two pencils drop behind me, I knew that my words had a little bit of an effect on them.

Walking into the hallway from our class, I reached up and smacked Scott and Stiles on the backs of their heads. “What the hell is wrong with you two? High school is already going not great for me--”

“How?” they asked, confused.

I sighed, gesturing around us. “Do you see all these gross ass couples? I mean, it literally sucks I’m not one of them.”

“Oh, come on, (Y/N/N),” Stiles said, putting his arm around my shoulders. “You’re gonna find someone. Don’t worry.”

“Yeah,” Scott agreed. “I mean, maybe he’s right under your nose, but you’re just not seeing it.”

I scoffed. “Okay, there’s only one guy that I like, but it doesn’t seem like he’s ever noticed me, so there’s that.”

Pretty much stealing me from Stiles’ embrace, Scott put his arm around me, saying, “Well, he’s just an idiot then.”

“No,” I said. “He’s a dumbass.”

Snickering, they both said, “It’s the same thing.”

“I will fight the both of you on this,” I said. “And, Scott, just because you’re a lot freaking stronger than us now doesn’t mean that I can’t kick your ass.”

“See?” he said, looking over my head. “I told you.”

“Whatever, bro,” Stiles said. “Listen, whoever this guy is is just too stupid to not realize what--”

“An amazing girl you are,” Scott interrupted.

Looking back and forth between the two, I shook my head while blinking. “You two are gonna give me freaking whiplash. Okay, look--” I shrugged Scott’s arm off my shoulders. “Whoever the hell you two are fighting about, please resolve it. I don’t want to have to break some poor girl's heart by saying that one of you likes her and not the other.”

“You wouldn’t--” Stiles started.

“Dude,” I said, looking at him with wide eyes and raised brows. “I did that for you with Harper in seventh grade. Poor thing couldn’t get over you for like a year.”

“Okay, that was different,” he said.

“How was that different?” Scott asked.

“Well, because I don’t remember asking (Y/N) to do that for me, number one,” Stiles replied. “And two, because whoever we’re fighting over won’t have our amazing best friend here to break her heart for one of us.”

“Sooooo,” I said. “Whoever the hell you’re both fighting over will get their heartbroken over-- Ya’know what? I’m either confused as to that statement you just gave, Stiles, or I’m confusing myself.” I nodded once, agreeing with myself. “I’m going with the latter.”

Stopping at my locker, I put the combination in and opened the door, putting my Chemistry book back in its place and grabbing the next book I needed. “Listen. All I can tell the two of you to do is just to fight this out. Show the girl that you care about her-- at different times, and when she’s not expecting it. Come up with individual plans and execute them.” I closed my locker door, turning my back against it. “Now, I have Math. Please get along while I’m away for an hour.” After kissing each boy on the cheek, I walked away towards my Math class.

As soon as I rounded the corner, I stopped and poked my head back around, seeing Scott and Stiles still standing there. Stiles, of course, was talking very animatedly with his hands as Scott just stood there before giving Stiles his response.

Feeling a body standing behind me, I kept my eyes on my best friends.

“What are you doing?” Isaac asked.

“Eavesdropping,” I replied.

He chuckled, putting his hand on my shoulder. “Eavesdropping requires you to be listening, not watching.”

Sighing exasperatedly, I rolled my eyes. “Okay, fine. I’m spying. They’ve, apparently, been fighting over a girl. Poor thing.”

After he let out a laugh, I watched as Scott and Stiles turned their sights over towards us, and I inconspicuously stood up straighter and booked it down the hall, grabbing Isaac’s hand.

“What are we doing?” he laughed.

“Running because I got a feeling I’m gonna be stopped by one or both of them,” I said. “I might get interrogated by Stiles and that’s something I don’t want to happen.”

“Why not?”

Turning my head over my shoulder, I looked at him, saying, “Because--” before smacking right into someone’s chest. “Aaah, shit.”

“Alright, alright, break this up.”

“Why did it have to be you I ran into?” I groaned. Turning to face Isaac, I asked, “Did you whisper something to Scott to make the both of them book it all around the school?”

He shrugged, not giving me an answer.

“Oh, this is low, Lahey,” I said. “Even for you.”

“Break-break it up,” Stiles said, gesturing towards mine and Isaac’s hands.

Groaning, I let go of Isaac’s hand, crossing my arms over my chest and facing Stiles. “What do you want, Stilinski?”

“Just wanted to make sure we’re still on for our study thing tonight,” he said, looking over my head.

“What study-- OHHHH!” I remembered. “Damn, I almost forgot.”

“We do this almost every Wednesday night,” he chuckled.

“But, it’s Tuesday,” I said, almost confused.

Looking up over my head again, he said, “Well, we’ll just hang out then.”

“Okay, I’ll be there,” I said. “Still ordering pizza?”

“What else would we eat?”

I chuckled as the bell rang, signaling the warning bell for our next class. “Shit, I gotta go. I’ll meet you after school, okay?” I said, leaning up to lightly kiss Stiles’ cheek. “If you need me, text me,” I turned to Scott, giving him a light kiss on his cheek, as well.

Yes, I knew Scott was standing behind me… because why else would Stiles look over my head?

“Come on, Lahey,” I said, grabbing Isaac’s arm at his elbow. “We’ve got Math.”

“STILINSKI!!!” I yelled, running up to his front door. “Your ass better be home!” Without warning, I opened the door and let myself in, going right up to Stiles’ room. Though, I paused at hearing him talking. Who he was talking to, I’ll never know, so I stayed and listened for a couple minutes.

“It’s the way that you, uh,” he said. “It’s the way that you--”

Deciding that I couldn’t stand here and listen to him talk to himself about how much he loves Lydia and hearing the speech he was gonna give to her, I walked back down the stairs and back to my car.

With a tear rolling down my cheek, I called my other best friend.

“Hello?”

“Are you free to hang?” I asked, messing with a string on my jeans.

“Yeah, yeah. Everything okay?”

“Uhm--” I said, my voice breaking.

“Come on over. You can explain when you get here.”

Hanging up the phone, I drove over to his house, not knowing that Stiles was standing at the front door the entire time.

Once I made it to Scott’s, I wiped my cheeks clean of any tears that had shed and walked up to his front door, letting myself in. “Scotty?” I called, turning around and closing the door.

“Up here!”

After taking off my shoes, I walked up the stairs to Scott’s room, seeing him sitting at his desk. “It’s the most frustrating thing in the whole freaking world,” I said, basically back flopping onto his bed. “You go to hang out with one of your best friends, only to hear him either talking to someone on the phone or to himself.”

“Hello to you, too,” Scott chuckled. “What was he saying?”

“Basically confessing his love for Lydia,” I sassed. “Didn’t wanna stick around for it.” Feeling my phone vibrate, I took it out of my back pocket, swiping the screen and putting it up to my ear. “You’ve reached (Y/N), the most single girl at Beacon Hills High. Leave a message after the--”

“Where are you?”

Sighing, I said, “I’m at Scott’s. Heard you pretty much confessing your--”

“Come back over. I still wanna hang out tonight. I’ve ordered pizza. And no. I wasn’t professing any love for Lydia. Just--” he paused to sigh. “Will you just come over?”

I sighed, sitting up and locking eyes with Scott. “Fine. I can’t stay for long, though.”

Alright, so… I guess in Stiles’ mind, I can’t stay for long translated into I’m gonna keep you here until you pass out.

Waking up and looking at my surroundings, I quickly sat up with a gasp, the body next to me jumping.

“What? What happened?” he asked.

“You let me fall asleep!” I exclaimed, climbing off the bed. “I’m so dead. I’ll see you at school.”

Not giving him a chance to respond, I grabbed my bag and my keys before making my way to the front door. “Hi, Sheriff. Bye, Sheriff,” I said, walking by the kitchen. After getting into my car, I started it and drove home, ready to be grilled by my parents.

To my surprise, they weren’t home, so I quickly ran to my room and grabbed everything I needed for a quick body shower. Deeming myself as clean as I was going to get, I dried off and got dressed, finishing my normal after-shower routine.

Thanking the stars above, I made it school just before the first bell rang for the first class of the day. Sighing, I made it to my locker, opening it. “Made it.”

I heard chuckling behind me. “Did you think you were gonna be late?”

“Yes,” I said, grabbing my book. “Stiles let me fall asleep last night, and didn’t wake me up. So, I had to rush home and get ready.”

Leaning against the lockers next to mine, Scott said, “I would have woken you up.”

“I know you would have, Scotty,” I said. “That’s why you--”

“Are my best friend, yada yada yada,” he chuckled. “I’ve heard you say it a million times over.”

“And you’re going to continue to hear it until the end of time,” I said. As the final bell rang for class, Scott and I looked at the ceiling before looking back down to one another. Seeing a look in his eyes I decided to ignore, I grabbed his elbow gently, saying, “Come on, Alpha. Walk me to class.”

What Scott and I both failed to realize was that Stiles was standing at the doors, watching us the entire time. Whether Scott knew he was standing here, I’ll never know and probably never will. Whatever is going on between them, they’ll hash it out on their own. What sucks, though, is that we all have First Period together.

“Hey, (Y/N/N)!” Stiles yelled.

I turned my head over my shoulder, seeing him walking down the hall towards my locker with a smile on his face. “Hey, Sti. What’s up?”

“Study session,” he said. “Tonight. My house.”

The smile that was present on my face immediately died at his words. This is something that didn't go unnoticed by him.

“Hey, what’s up?” he asked, genuinely confused.

I sighed, not wanting to tell him, but knowing that I had to. “Uhm, listen, Stiles. I really hate to do this to you, but I’m actually going to Scott’s tonight to help him study for his English exam.”

“But…” he said. “It’s Wednesday. You always come to my house on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to study. Scott has you the other days.”

“I know,” I groaned. “But, he was really adamant about it. Said he was gonna fail the test if I didn’t help him.” I watched as he looked down at the ground, eyes reading defeat. “I’m really sorry, Sti. I’ll come over tomorrow and we can do whatever, okay?”

“Yeah,” he said quietly, picking his head up. “Yeah. That’s fine. Uhm, have fun.” He started to turn around and walk away, but I gently grabbed his arm.

“Stiles, wait,” I said.

“No, it’s fine,” he said. “Just have fun.”

I didn’t know what to say, so I just let him go. I sighed and grabbed the book I needed. I looked down at the bottom of my locker, having a debate with myself.

“Thinking about ditching me to go hang out with Stiles tonight?”

“Well, you did kind of sabotage my night,” I said. “Knowing full well what our study schedule was, but as you heard, I told him that you were adamant about it.”

“Well, tonight isn’t a study night,” Scott said.

“What?” I asked, looking at him with confused eyes.

Leaving me to stand at my locker, Scott walked by me and said, “It’s a date.”

Uhm, what?

Having to sit in front of my best friends for the next hour with Isaac feeding me what they were whisper-arguing about was not on my list of things to do. Shifting in my seat as I wrote something down, I heard Isaac sigh beside me.

“Now, Stiles is saying how Scott basically roped you into tonight,” he whispered.

Sighing, I said, “Yeah, well, he kinda did.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, Scott begged me to come over tonight for a study session, knowing that the three of us have a study schedule,” I whispered. “I enforced it Freshmen year after a very long and exhausting night with the two of them ‘trying’ to study. Let’s just say that they both failed that test and had to make it up.”

“So, this is all your fault?” Isaac asked, humor laced in his voice.

I looked at him for a split second, eyes narrowed. “Ha - freaking - ha.” Turning my sights back to the board, I sighed. “They’re fighting over some girl.” I watched as Isaac paid attention to Scott and Stiles behind us, his face lighting up at who they’re talking about. “Oh, my God. You know who they’re fighting over!”

“Ms. (Y/L/N)!”

“Huh?” I asked, looking at the front of the room.

“One more outburst this week and I’ll give you enough detention to last the rest of your high school career,” Harris said. “Stop talking.”

I made a face at his back after he turned back to write something on the board.

Feeling him leaning closer, Isaac said, “Well, whoever they’re fight over--”

“Which you know who it is,” I whispered.

“She’s one lucky girl.”

“Why? She’s got those two dorks pining for her.”

“Yeah, well,” he said. “I know which one she’s probably gonna choose.”

Sitting at the diner with Scott wasn’t what I wanted to do at the moment. Truth be told, I wanted to be sitting on Stiles’ bed, fighting with him about whether his answer was right, or just talking about our day.

I guess I was daydreaming because next thing I knew, Scott was snapping his fingers in front of my face.

“Hello?” he said. “Earth to (Y/N).”

I shook my head, blinking my eyes rapidly. “Sorry. Guess I started daydreaming.”

“Yeah,” he said. “You were.” Filling the awkward silence, he asked, “What, uhm, what were you thinking about?”

“Honestly?” I said. “That this date… thing is weird. For me, for me. It’s just--” I sighed, not really wanting to break Scott’s heart. “I feel really bad about ditching Stiles. I mean, you and I could’ve done this tomorrow while studying.”

He sighed, looking down at his plate.

“Scotty,” I said. “You’re my best friend. Stiles is also my best friend. And I just feel terrible about ditching him. That’s all.”

Looking back up at me, he said, “That all?”

I nodded my head, looking down at my own plate. “Will you take me to Stiles’? We can hang for as long as you want to tomorrow. I promise.”

Putting money on the table, he got up and walked out of the diner, leaving me to sit there for a moment. Once I deemed myself ready, I grabbed my bag and walked out to Scott’s bike, putting on his extra helmet and climbing onto the back.

“I’m really sorry, Scotty,” I said, putting my arms around his middle.

“It’s fine,” he dismissed. “Hang on tight.”

Feeling defeating, I tightened my hold on him, putting the side of my head on his shoulder.

The ride was silent, tension-filled, and… a little bumpy. Once we arrived at Stiles’, I took my helmet off and handed it to Scott. We just sat there for a moment, and I knew that I had fucked up and had possibly ruined our friendship.

I slowly got off the bike, using Scott to help me keep stable. We locked eyes, and I could see a little hurt in them, but more understanding. “I really am sorry, Scotty.”

He shrugged. “It’s okay. I get it.”

“Wait,” I said. “Was this payback for me and Stiles hanging out last night? Cause he was helping his dad Monday at the station--”

“(Y/N/N),” he said. “It’s not. I promise. Now, can I just… have one of your famous hugs?”

I nodded. “Sure.” I stepped forward, wrapping my arms around his neck, feeling him bury his face into my neck.

At the sound of the front door opening and footsteps sounding on the porch, Scott and I broke apart, seeing Stiles storm his way towards us. “What the hell, man?”

“What?” Scott and I asked. I was far beyond confused at this point.

“So, you take her on a date, then bring her here to fucking kiss her in front of me?” Stiles all but yelled.

“She asked me to bring her here,” Scott began to explain. “And we didn’t kiss.”

“Like I’m supposed to believe that.”

“Boys!” I yelled. “What the hell are you two talking about? Does it have to do with that girl you guys are-- OHHHHH! Wait. I’m the girl you two are fighting over?”

“Yeah,” they both said.

“Poor me,” I sassed.

“Why do you think it should be you she chooses?” Scott asked, mounting his bike on the kickstand. “Huh? Why don’t you think she’ll pick me?”

“Because I--” Stiles said.

“You two are fucking delusional if you think I’m--” I said.

Turning to me quickly, Stiles said, “I know almost everything there is to know about you; what your favorite color is, what movie you like to watch to help you feel better after a shit day, your favorite food. I know when you study that you like to go in order of your classes, for whatever reason.”

“Helps me remember stuff easier,” I said, crossing my arms.

“I also know how to make you feel better when you’re in a bad mood, I know what your coffee order is,” he continued. “When you’re in the kitchen, you always bake chocolate chip cookies from scratch because it’s how your Grandma taught you. Your favorite music, your favorite era, literally everything.”

Turning my eyes to Scott, I gave him questioning eyes, to which he shrugged, “All I know is the food. I was too wrapped up in Allison to try and learn anything else.”

“See?” Stiles said.

“Okay,” I said after giving myself a moment to process. “I’m gonna ask you both a question. Whoever gets it right…” I trailed off, not knowing what a prize should be. “Forget about a prize. Okay?”

They both nodded their heads, agreeing to the terms.

“Okay,” I breathed. “What is my favorite thing to sleep in when I stay the night?”

“Easy,” they said.

“Shirt you wore that day with a pair of my sleep shorts,” Scott said.

“My Stud Muffin shirt with yellow sleep shorts to match,” Stiles said.

“Okay, one more question,” I said. “What is your point in all this? Fighting for my love. What’s the point?”

“I guess I’m just trying to move on from Allison,” Scott said. “I guess trying to make myself like you wasn’t such a good idea.”

“And like I said before, I know almost everything about you,” Stiles said. “It’s hard not to like you.”

“Okay, deal breaker questions,” I said. “What’s my favorite thing to do on the weekends, and was this all just a game to you? Scott, you go first.”

“Uhm,” he said. “Go shopping with Lydia, and no-- well, actu--”

“Stiles?” I said, shifting my eyes from Scott to Stiles.

Looking over my head for a moment, he thought about his answer. “You like to stay in your pajamas and marathon a tv show or watch all your favorite movies, and no. It was never a game. Hell, I may even love--”

Launching myself at Stiles, I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling his lips towards mine. Placing his hands on my waist, he stepped closer to me as Scott said, “Okay. I’m gonna leave now,” before starting his bike and pushed the kickstand back before driving off down the road.

After feeling our lips move in sync for a moment, Stiles and I pulled back, foreheads resting against each other.

“You’re choosing me?” he asked, breathless.

I nodded my head, smiling a little. “Sure.”

“Cool,” he said, putting his lips back on mine. He squatted a few seconds later, telling me to jump, which I did, wrapping my legs around his middle.

“We need to study first,” I said, pulling back. “Study, then make-out.” Feeling my back being pressed up against a door, I looked over his shoulder, seeing that he must’ve booked it up to his room without me noticing.

“Deal,” he said, putting his lips on mine.

From that point on, he could fight for my love… all he wanted.

ohhhh hell yeah I have not forgotten, like I tend to keep the examples limited to interactions with Scott to point out the blatant double standards in play but also because I am so tired of the abuse apologism arguments that come with any criticism of Derek’s actions in regards to teenage characters in the first two seasons in general, like, I know the dude had a hard time that doesn’t mean paying that forward is an acceptable standard of behavior for interacting with scared and vulnerable teenagers. ALSO not to bring it back around to Scott AGAIN but also umm Im me so okay I will I have the go-ahead, but like......literally every single argument and justification people make about Derek’s behavior and choices in the first two seasons because of what happened with Kate and how he doesn’t trust people because of that and he’s traumatized is rendered null and void by their simultaneous bullshit insistence that none of this logic means anything when it comes to Scott and.....wait for it....what happened with Theo and trust and traumatized or does being betrayed by someone you were starting to consider a good friend and murdered not count as trauma? I forget.

You can’t have it both ways but people are like Yes I can *rolls up sleeves* watch me.

Aaaaaand since we’re already here, why not, I’m going for it, soooooo getting in on the ground floor before people are like WELL THAT’S DIFFERENT BECAUSE STILES TRIED TO WARN SCOTT SO HE SHOULD’VE KNOWN UNLIKE DEREK WHO COULDN’T HAVE, umm:

a) that’s not how trust works, its not by proxy, you either trust someone or you don’t and someone else telling you that you shouldn’t does not in fact render a betrayal of trust any less a betrayal of trust, this is LITERALLY just victim-blaming the betrayed, something that people are absolutely aware of because just imagine the shrieks of protest if someone were to posit an AU where someone warned Derek not to trust Kate but he still did anyway and so that made everything else that happened all his fault.

b) you do not owe even your best friends unconditional trust in every opinion they have OVER your own opinions, it honestly truly DEEPLY makes me uncomfortable how often people raise this point because Stiles could distrust Theo all he wanted, Scott is still entitled to his own opinions based on his own perceptions of his own interactions with Theo, which were different than Stiles’ interactions, and Scott was in no way, shape or form obligated to uphold Stiles’ perceptions and interactions of and with Theo as more important than Scott’s own, what even is that wtfuckery

c) Stiles’ distrust of Theo was unfortunately watered down and diluted by the fact that he was lying to Scott and keeping secrets from him for weeks, which was his right and he was traumatized himself by what happened with Donovan, but the flip side of that is Scott was keenly aware that Stiles was lying to him about stuff and even had a whole freaking monologue about it and how he wished Stiles would just talk to him and tell him what he was hiding and in what universe is someone obligated to unconditionally believe their friend and abide by what they’re saying and wanting WHILE AT THE EXACT SAME TIME being lied to by that same friend?

d) Stiles’ distrust of Theo was additionally watered down and diluted by the fact that even after he had actual foolproof evidence that Theo was a liar and not to be trusted, he refrained from informing Scott of this because he prioritized his own feelings about what might come out about him in the process of telling Scott, which again, was absolutely his right to do and be worried about but it is NOT his right to be retroactively extradited from any role he played in Scott’s perceptions of events that season by not divulging this information even while actively still JUDGING Scott for not acting on information re: Theo that Scott literally did not have to act upon, just his own interactions with Theo where Theo was actively and continually working on being seen as not only trustworthy but INVALUABLE in Scott’s eyes, while everyone else was off preoccupied with their own stuff leaving Scott with no one BUT Theo to turn to. Which was literally Theo’s entire plan in dividing them in order to make Scott vulnerable in the first place, just as Scott ultimately was more victimized by Theo than any of the other surviving members of S5 as he was the one y’know, MURDERED, but again let’s talk some more about how it was Stiles and everyone else who was more betrayed and let down by Scott’s choice to trust Theo than Scott was himself

(and so help me GOD if someone brings up Josh or Tracy like they give a fuck about them, lolol, fun fact, but most of the posts about Josh and Tracy in S5 while it was airing were mine, like, 90% of their tags was me posting, yeah c’mon guys we’re aware I can be prolific when I hyper-fixate I’m not exaggerating here lol I POSTED ABOUT JOSH A LOT OKAY lololol. So I keenly remember the weeks between Josh’s death episode and the episode which revealed that Scott got to Deucalion before Theo did, because that was two whole weeks of people being like who the fuck cares about Josh, other than like, me and some mutuals, until the SECOND fandom found a way to spin Scott as being tangentially responsible for Josh’s death, at which point suddenly it was like OMG JOSH WE LOVED YOU ALL ALONG, WE’RE SO SORRY THAT MONSTER DID THIS TO YOU. The whiplash would be hilarious if I didn’t hate it so much)

e) Stiles’ distrust of Theo was additionally watered down and diluted by the fact that he was WRONG about everything he initially brought up as WHY he distrusted Theo, his whole thesis to Scott at the start of the season was that he didn’t trust Theo because he remembered Theo from fourth grade and Theo wasn’t Theo but uh.....yes he was. He wanted Scott not to trust Theo on a basis that was flawed and had no grounding in reality other than Stiles’ own unreliable gut instincts with no care or concern whatsoever for Scott’s own gut instincts, and simultaneously, Stiles in the throes of being like THEO IM ON TO YOU YOU FAKER (Theo in the distance: Lol no you’re not, you just don’t like me, there’s a difference), ANYWAY, Stiles at the exact same time as being focused on not just Theo but what he felt Scott SHOULD be doing and thinking in regards to Theo and Stiles’ opinions, somehow managed to completely overlook and give no fucks about Scott’s ACTUAL thoughts and actions re: Theo, as if he had been paying more attention to the actual character of his friend rather than just his perception and assumptions about his friend, he would have noticed that Scott DIDN’T blindly trust Theo from the start, because Scott DOESN’T actually blindly trust anyone and actually has trust issues out the wazoo from all the times he’s been hurt, betrayed and let down by people he cares about from his deadbeat dad to the many murder and manipulation attempts of Peter, whom he has canonically never trusted despite Stiles’ insistence that he even trusts Peter (lol where? when? source?).....ergo, ipso facto, forsooth and all that good shit.....Stiles wanted Scott’s complete obedience and allegiance in S5 to everything he said and thought while at the exact same time giving no fucks about anything going on WITH Scott himself. Hashtag friendship goals, am I right guys?

f) the fatal flaw of the Sciles schism in S5 was not in fact the warring opinions on Scott and Stiles’ respective trust and distrust of Theo, but rather what S5 revealed about Scott and Stiles’ respect trust and distrust of EACH OTHER. In point of fact, the only thing truly revealed by the events of that season is that Scott doesn’t automatically trust just anyone, but that his trust must be EARNED - a process Theo invested considerable effort in doing, as he actually paid attention to Scott and the actuality of things he said and did and why - and that Stiles in contrast doesn’t just automatically distrust anyone, but rather makes snap judgments about whether or not to PUT his trust in others based on what he’s feeling.

Basically, my point is that Scott views trust as a function of information gathering and ultimately a decision to put it to the test or not, to actually just say okay based on what I know and feel at this point, I am making the choice NOW to trust in someone. Stiles in contrast, views trust as something he doesn’t fundamentally NEED in his interactions with people, and as such he uses it to shore up and buttress various other things about himself and his interactions with people.

This is why Scott started out the season WITH reservations about Theo, that led to him asking Deaton questions about how vulnerable he and his pack might be due to allowing a strange newcomer into their midst, but ultimately placing more and more trust in Theo as the season went on, BASED on Theo’s ongoing campaign to win Scott’s trust by seeming trustworthy and helpful and supportive.

Meanwhile, Stiles started out the season WITH reservations about Theo, that informed all his actions regarding Theo UNTIL he got concrete proof that Theo was a liar, BUT continued to interact with Theo and even work alongside him even KNOWING he wasn’t trustworthy, because trust was not after all the most important element informing his actions because it never HAD been. More importantly, the reason this all plays more into Scott and Stiles’ view of each other than anything to do with Theo, was because the ONLY reason Theo was able to play them against each other was Theo keyed into the fact that Stiles, despite placing a lot of importance in the IDEA of trust, never actually fully makes the leap into actually PLACING his trust in ANYONE, even someone like his best friend Scott, who has proven MULTIPLE times how invaluable Stiles is to him.....because if Stiles ever HAD fully placed his trust in Scott, he would have been able to look at the concrete precedent of Scott saying throughout the entire nogitsune ordeal that he flat out didn’t CARE if people died because of the nogitsune, because of Stiles himself, he wasn’t going to sacrifice Stiles to save the lives of strangers he just simply doesn’t value as being more important to him than Stiles himself.

And by extension, if Stiles HAD ever fully placed his trust in Scott after this, then his fears about Donovan would have fallen by the wayside as - just like it was ultimately proven out in 5B after Scott heard the WHOLE story and not the parts Theo told him backed up by the lies of ommission Stiles HADN’T told Scott and the fact that Scott had been keyed into Stiles’ feelings of guilt over something for weeks - Scott would then have expressed to Stiles just as he ultimately DID express to Stiles: that he can tell the difference between self-defense and cold-blooded murder, and Stiles killing Donovan in self-defense was not a problem for Scott and NEVER WAS OR WOULD HAVE BEEN.

In conclusion, the biggest issue in S5 is not that Scott trusts everyone, its that even after everything, Stiles still doesn’t even trust Scott.

And if you can’t trust the best friend who’s proven that he will literally do anything for you, at any time, just say the word, to such an extent that you’ll pull back from him and refrain from working with him and being around him AT THE EXACT SAME TIME as demonstrating that you will be around and work alongside someone you don’t even like and definitely do not trust.....

Then trust is not the be all and end all for you, and it never actually was, and if you can’t grant it to even your friend why does your friend owe you his, let alone UNCONDITIONAL trust in not just you, but every opinion and course of action you advocate for?

*bangs gavel* The defense rests. Or the prosecution rests. Fuck, I forgot which side I’m on. Am I accusing or defending? Idek.

favourite canon pairing - I would've said Stalia BUT SEASON FIVE MY BELOATHED (it's my favourite season the Angst is so good oh my god it's great writing fodder. best season for a ficcer is s5 i take no criticism on this matter i am right) so. uhhhh can't be scira s6 my actually beloathed. marrish amounted to like nothing at all. Chrissa!!! chrissa yes chrissa good chrissa wholesome chrissa flawless we like chrissa in this household. I think Draeden though has to be the best canon one just because it's around longer than Chrissa and like. I adore Braeden and she made me not hate Derek which is a Huge feat bc for some reason for a really long time I literally loathed him akjsg;alskdjg like chill out, Cesca. He's a dude. He's just a dude. (s2 Derek my forever despised though. cannot find it in me to like him before Braeden shows up. I tolerate him. I have no idea why by the way his like whole story is exactly something i would normally grab with both hands and never let go of. worst pairing ever - sterek #notsorry. once again in canon they can barely tolerate each other (in the seasons that spawned the pairing) and then in the follow they're like. allies-because-scott. That's it. Also i kind of just get big-brother-little-brother vibes from them when they manage to get along so like.... no.... also. the most reason. Derek's history with Kate and being a sixteen year old preyed upon by a 23/4 year old would make it... really bad to have him... be 24.... and with Stiles... who was 16.... you understand? yes. character wise i just don't think it'd work out.

guilty pleasure pairing - no such thing as guilty pleasure but ig people would think maybe steo or staleo idk? but yeah I am guilty about nothing. I will ship everything without fear. (steter might be the most genuine one though because back when I was dumb it was very hypocritical. but at the same time I only do it in very specific circumstances (time-travel/ages are changed; never in canon) and mostly i prefer the whole Paralellism thing they've got going on - they're basically like. the same person it's weird - so there's that.)

Stiles is like, one of the only people Peter respects. When Derek sees Stiles in the locker room wearing black it's mirroring Derek listening to Peter in the locker room wearing black. it's all connected perfect combinations are rare in an imperfect world etc etc. Their canon dynamic (I don't even know what to categorise it as) is so goddamn interesting. But also like sciles, though I'll ship them too their friendship/brotherly bond is everything to me. And I tend to see it (as in, from my perspective on the canon) more often than not as mostly one-sided romantically/sexually speaking (from stiles). so sciles. but also i'm really fond of stira platonically (I'll take the romance, but we do need Some platonic friendships on this damned show alk;sjdfg;laskg). and absolutely scolia. Scolia is a great friendship! s6 does not exist. I tend to ship scydia more romantically later on in the show but like around s3/4 it's such a good friendshp, I love it. But yeah no s6 should have been scydia, and I'll stand by that (I'm including s6A as well as 6B in this. stydia and scolia should not have happened imo). Stydia is actually really really good platonic and horrible terrible romantic, so I have to go with Stydia I think. Non-romantic stydia my beloved <3

OUR PACK IS THE BEST!! <3

I literally love everything about this.

They're all so clever and so smart and so cute and just have such good teamwork and I LOVE OUR MCCALL PACK! <3 <3

Okay, for starters, that whole little planning and set-up of the lake house plan was so clever and so cute. This is a small thing, but at the start of their little talk, Stiles's immediate defense of Malia ripping up the basement, and that cute little supportive smile he gives her, was just so wholesome and I love them. And then Lydia saying she's "done with high school boys" (which, valid, frankly, given her relationship history), and then turning to Kira and Kira's immediate awkwardness like...

And then KIRA OMG. She's gorgeous, obviously, and she played the foxy fox beautifully, but it was also so unBELIEVABLY Kira to trip and fall down the stairs. Good thing Liam's a hormonal teenage werewolf or that definitely could've backfired. But luckily, it still worked!

And then the intervention at the lake house (("Think of it like an intervention, Liam. You have a problem." "And we're the only ones that can help." Sciles finishing each other's sentences ANYWAYS.), and everyone going through what they are and then there's Stiles.

"Uh, for a little while I was possessed by an evil spirit. It was very evil." "What are you now?" "Better?"

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!! XD XD <3 <3 (Though, as a very quick aside, anger issues and werewolf-ing do not mix, so THAT'S disconcerting...)

And then, after all of that, I really appreciate how quickly they all reacted, and how well they all worked together, when they hit emergency mode. Scott and Kira immediately grabbing Liam to get him to the boathouse (Scira! <3), Malia immediately calling for Stiles and him being super quick to grab her and get her to the basement (Stalia! <3), and then that fun little interaction between Stiles and Lydia (Stydia! <3 Stalia can be adorable and I can still have my OTP, okay? XD)...

"Lydia, who throws the best parties in Beacon Hills?" "What? Me, obviously!" "Okay. Then throw a party."

And I bet that's exactly what she's gonna do, because she rocks.

I mean it's just...

THEY ALL WORK SO WELL TOGETHER AND THEY'VE ALL GOTTEN SO GOOD AT THIS AND THEY ALL HAVE EACH OTHER'S BACKS AND THEY'RE JUST SUCH A GOOD TEAM AND IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS BUT I LOVE THEM OKAY?!

In other news, really not loving that we have an assassin to deal with, but I am loving the Derek and Noah team-ups and dynamics, because that's all kinds of fun since Sciles is a LITTLE busy to be helping with that whole situation at the moment.

Answering you in its own post, as not to take over the op’s original post entirely

If you’ve got time, could you talk more about what you liked in 6b? It’s the one season I’ve never rewatched, so it’s been a couple of years since I’ve seen it, but…

Ending 6a, Scott was set to attend his dream college and pursue his dream career, so all his struggles with his grades and balancing school vs. supernatural drama paid off. Yeah, he wasn’t romantically involved with anyone, but I was convinced Kira would be back soon. Ending 6b, Scott’s in the middle of a war. College is presumably on hold. He’s in a relationship, but not one I see lasting. I don’t know, it was all just a little grim for me. But I’d be interested in different perspectives.

see, here’s the thing. At the end of 6a, we do not in any way or how know for a fact that Scott was going to be able to attend his dream college. Rewatch the 6a finale. We get told that Stiles is heading off to Quantico, but the show pays no attention whatsoever in whether or not Scott managed to get into his dream college, or his dream career.

Because the showrunner for 6a didn’t care about Scott’s storyline.

One of the reasons why 6a sucks so badly, is because it basically pushed Scott into a minor supporting role to Stiles,while Stiles wasn’t even present.

the entire season was focused around a character whose actor couldn’t be there, and a relationship, where half of the ship wasn’t present for the grand majority of the season.

There is no pay off whatsoever for any of Scott’s storylines. He gets even less focus than the puppy pack did, and is just there to back up Lydia, whose character was entirely ruined, in order to turn her into a crying weeping damsel who can’t go on without her man.

there’s little to no connect between the puppy pack storyine and Stiles storyline, because Stiles lacks the connection with any of the chars in the puppy pack. But because the showrunner didn’t care about Scott’s storyline, we get to see no continuation on Scott’s connection with Liam, nor do we get any real scenes between Scott and Hayden.

The season even tore down the sciles relationship, making it so that even Malia’s memories of her relationship with Stiles have more of an impact than Scott’s lifvelong memories do.

Now I’ll never claim that 6b was perfect.

It still didn’t have enough focus on Scott for my taste, and he was pushed into a relationship with Malia for too many scenes, when what we really needed was scenes between Scott and Theo, Scott and Corey, and Scott and his own father. (even now we still have no idea when Rafael even found out about the supernatural)

but the season did show us going back to Scott’s fears of hunters, to that s1 storyline of a young boy attacked by a monster and turned into something he didn’t want

They created many parallels between Scott and Nolan, and they continued Theo’s redemption storyline, even if it wasn’t completed, to the point that you see Theo starting to try and at least act by Scott’s principles.

We deal with just what it means for Scott to be an alpha, how he leads, and how he mentors Liam. All of which are things we did not get in 6a, since in 6a, Scott, Malia and Lydia were so distracted by trying to get Stiles back, that it was mostly the puppypack dealing with the actual ghostrider situation.

In s6b, we see the full impact on the pack of Scott’s principles, his storyline. We see him deal with Monroe, and most of all, we see him face off with Gerard, and win.

But most of all, we see this young boy’s storyline go from being an assault survivor, who stands up to defend other assault survivors and be there for them, like no one was there for him when he needed it. And that alone makes the entire season worth it.
