So I'm starting to read more Asian bl novels thanks to a friend and she recommended me omniscient reader view and you're the only mutual that I know that has read it and I know 0 things about it, any thoughts that you would like to share? 👀

This ask filled me with an unfathomable amount of excitement, but it also made me laugh really, really hard, because while I would never say it's wrong to call omniscient reader's viewpoint an "asian BL novel," it's kind of like... Hm. Hindu trying to think of a sufficiently funny joke about the bible here and failing. Basically: yeah, that's in there, but holy shit are you both underselling and underestimating it by saying that :)

I've answered questions about orv tons of times (see my best attempt here), but I am quite literally always happy to do so again!! I'll start with this: Since we're both tma fans, I think you are going to LOVE the apocalypse orv presents, especially its tragic themes on voyeurism and privacy and silent bystanders/watchers, self-sacrifice and suicide, and women who kill. You are also going to love kim dokja for his brand of sopping-wet pathetic bisexuality, but that was a given.

Orv is technically brilliant-- it renders its themes unto you like an obsidian knife-- but it's also INCREDIBLY funny, and although it has a convoluted timeline and a complex plot, it WILL hold your hand as you go through it. Its characters are so three-dimensional they literally jump off the page (how's that for a meta joke), and they WILL live in your brain forever after reading the novel. They're inescapable. And on that subject: YES, ORV WILL MAKE YOU CRY. It made me cry while I was reading it for the first time, multiple times, and it still makes me cry! Almost weekly! And I do not cry at things!!! This book fucks you up so so bad and you will kiss its feet and thank it for the privilege!!!

I really hope that makes sense, I have so much I want to and could say and absolutely no way to express it coherently, I just hope this is sufficient to keep you interested!! Thanks so much for the ask, I hope you're doing great!!!! 💜💜💜

Here she is, she’s a little long, sorry!

Friends to lovers/mutual pining trope with Shayne topp x fem!reader. He and the reader are friends and they’re super close, comfortable with each other, always teasing, leaning on each other, affectionate, etc.

fans have speculation on whether or not they’re dating and are always pointing it out in the comments, commenting about how cute they are (“looks at him!” “did you see him hold her hand!!”) and making compilations of “Shayne x Y/N Cutest Moments” or “proof that true love exists (Shayne x Y/N)”

But it’s not just the fans, the cast & crew watch them and it’s just blatantly obvious that they’re perfect together but they’re both to dense to realize they’re in love. They always pair the two of them together in videos (ex: the idiots present that Jackie and Damien had to do) to get them closer together.

One day it suddenly just hits them that they’re in love with the other. Idk if you watch Gilmore Girls but there’s this scene where Luke Danes is listening to a self help audiobook and it’s saying smthn like “who’s face do you look forward to seeing in the morning? when you get good news who do you immediately want to tell?” and that makes him realize he’s in love. So, whether that hits them in a video/talking to a coworker/alone/etc. it just dawns on them that they’re idiots in love annnnddd the end is up to you! A kiss! A proclamation! Whatever your heart desires!

I just love fluff and pining and you are INCREDIBLE at writing that (have you READ your coffee dealer series?!?!?!?!?!?!)

A promise of a bite poised atop of needle-delicate claws, the bend of forelegs as the celicera quiver, perhaps hungering for something to bite. Slow, careful about the motion, Enver lifts his hand and rotates his finger to bring the spider closer to the candle light — research adjourned. Such fragile skin for such a fierce little hunter, and he understands at a logical level why Drow might revere these creatures. Why a Goddess is born in the guise of a web spinner, frightening to behold.

A small death stares at him. He considers brushing it aside, finding it a distraction at best as it continues to meander about.

Extracting its venom requires more work than he's willing to put in at this hour. Keeping it alive promises for more dust-weighed webbing to linger in the corner of his rooms where the servants overlook cleaning.

It twitches as if sensing his thoughts, rearing back to display its fangs. The show only draws out of a huff as he slowly pinches at its thorax with the clawed ends of his index and thumb, piercing it without mercy as he watches it flail, fangs struggling to find any give in the skin-warm alloy over his skin. It writhes. It seethes. It drips what precious drop of venom uselessly. It must be glaring, insignificant in its suffering.

Sigh bereaved, the extermination done with, he flicks its inward-curling form toward the flames before returning to his notes. (And later, when he's plucking at the skull of a mindflayer, a hateful eye held between gore-stained fingers, he'll wonder if every being he comes across will end up hating him till their dying breath. He hopes so.)
