Do you have a favorite character or ship in HI3?

Re: characters, I seem to have my favorites plural so I could hardly pick one. And if I tried to list them I would probably forget some…

as for ships it really depends on compelling value for me. Can’t say I have a one true love there either, but I highly enjoy fukimei and fuki I guess? (WHO WOULDVE THOUGHT.)

kallen and sakura is also very good but this may just be the simp in me

Bah, work keeps me busy so here, have some art I churned out back in January when I was trying to get out an art slump, where I defaulted to my two comforts: SRMTHG and flowers.

I was very influenced by CLAMP during my teens and once thing I took away from that was their way of using flower symbolism with characters (ESPECIALLY in Cardcaptor Sakura) so I have a tendency to assign flowers to different characters: Chiro has the sunflower (which you can tell is my first time drawing one cause it LOOK HORRIBLE) and Jinmay gets the plum blossom.

Explanation of flower meanings below:

Sunflowers represent adoration and loyalty because they move to face the sun. After the betrayal of Mandarin, Chiro being such a loyal and faithful leader and friend to the monkeys is sooo important after Mandarin’s betrayal; add in that sunflowers can symbolize happiness and I think it is safe to say that Chiro was the big old bundle of happiness that the monkeys desperately needed. And in general flowers have some general sun/light symbolism to them and I in general associate Chiro with sun/light to contrast the dark/evil of Skeleton King.

Jinmay and plum blossoms are a bit of an in-joke that goes back to my early SRMTHFG days, when I thought for sure her name was spelled Jinmei and plum blossoms are known as meihua in Mandarin. That kind of association is why I drew Jinmay holding plum blossoms in my calendar art for her. BUT the symbolism also works out too: plum blossoms being blooming during winter so they represent endurance and overcoming adversary, which makes me think of Jinmay enduring guarding Shuggazoom on her own while dealing with the wraiths, and how after learning she was a robot and dealing with her lack of memories she still did her best to be a hero.

Again, did these back in January when I had an art slump for being sick so not my best but hopefully the info dump on flower meanings makes up for it

kiamei: was drawn to this ship on the early days of honkai, intensified tenfold after ch17. i LIVE for ships where chA turns their back on the world for chB’s sake, especially when chA had a more ‘innocent’ streak to them at the start. do u have any idea how many times ive rewatched imminent storm+thunders over nagazora?? do you?? 

sakukallen: the first honkai ship i got hooked on! their love for each other is so beautiful; kallen would rather abandon the world just to protect sakura (see above)-- thats a delicious trope right here.

seelecest: THE best seele ship, hands down. veliona canonically has it so bad for seele; everything she does is out of her deep, raw feelings for her host. choosing to share seele’s name was her way of telling seele she loves her and wishes to stay by her side forever...dont even get me started on nyx’s dorm entries; “[seele’s] smile gave meaning to her existence” GAY.

fuki: was on the fence on this, but shattered samsara sealed the deal for me.

kiaseele: was shipping this long before kiana even reunited with her friends at hyperion. i was all over the place when the 2 FINALLY met; their relationship is so tender and full of trust, it was more than i could ever ask for. i hope the story shows more of their dynamic later on and maybe bless us with a kiaseele cutscene!!! all i want now is for seele to call her “琪亚娜姐姐“

kianya: THEIR DYNAMIC. bronya may enjoy teasing kiana for a living, but she cares so so so much about her & vice versa. even up to the current chapter bron never stops trying to help kiana in whatever way she can, just..augh<3

bronmei: its so cute! it was the most teased ship (and still kinda is; see: the eva collab) early on before seele was properly implemented to the main cast. bronya clearly liked mei enough to compete with kiana for her affections, and cared for her enough to nearly kill herself to ensure her safety q__q

sirin/veliona: mostly an extension of kiaseele. sadistic queens that may destroy other ppl for fun, or each other.

mei/raven: peak enemies to lovers. the intimidating raven that was hellbent on ending kiana is the same raven thats so soft n casual around mei.

meisirin: technically an extension of kiamei. its sexc when 2 people try to k word each other.

veliona/hua(?): they can make for...interesting dynamics, with vel’s haughty personality and hua’s(?) attention/validation seeking nature. with a dash of battlelust on both ends.

durita: idk im mostly in it for their aesthetic.

meihua: fu hua and mei deserves all the gfs, let them hold each other.

at last year’s plum blossom in century park, shanghai.
plum blossom (meihua - 梅花) is a big thing in china (like cherry blossom/sakura is in japan). usually countless of plum blossom festivals and tours take place all over china, and you would see hordes of people and photographers admire these heralds of spring in shanghai’s public parks and plum blossom hotspots this time of the year 🌸. chinese people love to come together and celebrate! but this year it’s different: huge parts of the province hubei and also metropolitan areas like shanghai, suzhou and beijing look deserted. they are under quarantine to curb the spread of the coronavirus: public gathering points, parks, restaurants and cafes are closed until further notice. schools and daycare institiutions will remain closed at least until march and most workplaces are either closed or will try to continue work via ‘home office”. compounds are being closed to visitors and the streets and parks are eerily calm. most people stay at home and only go out to buy groceries and run important errands. if you see people outside, they are wearing masks, and there are fever measuring stations whereever they go. the people in china take on a huge burden to curb the spread of the virus, i truly doubt people in the west would be so cooperative and willing to accept personal restraints for the greater good. so it makes me really sad to see the virus is being used to spread panic and also as an exuse to utter anti-chinese sentiments. people who have the strongest negative sentiments against foreign folks and cultures are usually the ones who have the littlest clue. if you immerse yourself in a foreign culture and really get to know the people, stereotypes, prejudices and an “us against them”-thinking dissolve and make place for nuanced thinking and the understanding that every “outgroup” consists of individuals like you, with whom you can form real connections. this prevents generalization and dehumanization. i am thankful for everyone who helps to contain the coronavirus and hope the situation will get better very soon. sending love and strength to the middle kingdom in these chaotic times. remember, in the light of the current plum blossom that symbolizes perseverance, hope and the transitoriness of life:

es ist die zeit der pflaumenblüte. diese wird in china sehr zelebriert (wie die kirschblüte in japan). normalerweise gibt es zu dieser zeit im ganzen land unzählige plaumenblütenfeste und -touren und in den parks werden die pflaumenbäume von menschenmassen umringt 🌸. die chinesen lieben es, zusammenzukommen und das leben zu zelebrieren. doch dieses jahr ist es anders: große teile der provinz hubei und auch viele metropolregionen wie peking, shanghai und suzhou wirken wie ausgestorben. sie sind unter quarantäne, um die verbreitung des coronavirus zu vermeiden. öffentliche plätze, parks, restaurants und cafes bleiben auf unbestimmte zeit geschlossen. schulen und kindergärten werden mindestens bis märz geschlossen bleiben und die meisten arbeitsstätten bleiben zu, solange es möglich ist, oder versuchen, auf ‘home office” auszuweichen. flüge und züugfahrten werden gestrichen, ganze compounds und wohnviertel werden für besucher gesperrt und auf den straßen ist es gespenstisch ruhig. die meisten menschen bleiben zu hause und gehen nur raus, um einkäufe und lebensnotwendige besorgungen zu tätigen. wenn man menschen sieht, tragen sie masken, und werden an unzähligen fiebermessstationen angehalten und überprüft. die menschen in china nehmen grad eine große bürde auf sich, um die weiterverbreitung des coronavirus zu verhindern. ich kann mir ehrlich gesagt kaum vorstellen, dass die menschen im westen auch so kooperativ und opferbereit wären für das höhere wohl. um so trauriger macht es mich, dass das virus hier von einigen benutzt wird, um panik zu schüren und anti-chinesische ressentiments zu verbreiten. menschen mit den stärksten vorurteilen gegen fremde sind oft die mit der geringsten ahnung. wenn man sich auf fremde kulturen und echte begegnungen einlässt, lösen sich stereotypen, vorurteile und eine “sie gegen uns”- mentalität auf und weichen differenzierten meinungen und dem verständnis, dass man es mit individuen zu tun hat und nicht mit einer anonymen masse, die man über einen kamm scheren und de-humanisieren kann. ich bin jedem dankbar, der persönliche einschränkungen auf sich nimmt, um die verbreitung des coronavirus zu verhindern. schicke ganz viel liebe und kraft ins reich der mitte. im licht der gerade beginnenden pflaumenblüte, die ausdauer, hoffnung und die vergänglichkeit des lebens symbolisiert, sollten wir uns alle darauf besinnen, dass alles nur eine phase ist. this, too, shall pass. und wir dürfen nicht zulassen, dass dieser temporäre ausnahmezustand einen keil zwischen uns menschen treibt. alle nationen sollten im kampf gegen diese epidemie zusammenhalten und nicht zulassen, dass angst und panik uns spalten!

They do not have a good relationship.

Sakura and Clover: I almost do - Taylor Swift (but listen to it in a broken familial bond that used to be super close (you can make any song platonic love if you try hard enough))

The sisters were close but they drifted away for several reasons and mistakes on both sides and they miss that bond

The Clubs Royals family tree! A brief explanation, Clubs is the only patriarchal society so unlike hearts and spades the oldest inherits the throne while the daughters are overlooked. This is opposite of Diamonds which is the only Matriarchal society in the Cards world and it is inherited through daughters.

Do any of your ocs know how to play instruments?

Alvis can play the piano and is actually quite a good singer. He tried to teach Adrian but he had absolutely no interest but Mercury is actually quite good at it.

Amethyst can play the flute, violin, harp and harpsichord and piano. Cyan plays the violin and so did his sister (Camilla). Sakura can play the Guzheng/Zheng.

Would you say that king Eben love his daughters ?

God yes! He loves his daughters but he also constantly filled with fear he could lose them at any second. That’s why he is so determind to marry Clover off to someone he can trust will look after her and protect her. Clover doesn’t it see like that and sees it has her father trying to control (which he is to be fair on her).

If Eben doesn't Clover's husband, would he be able to pass the crown to Sakura if she married some trusted noble?

No I doesn’t work like that. Eben for one isn’t very secure in this throne though he has the blood of the Club Royals many think he usurped his brother the rightful King of Clubs. So from his own experience he would be resining Sakura to all that as well. People will recognise Clover as the rightful King of Clubs as the first born and a lot more people will rally to her than Sakura.

I imagine it going down like Lady Jane Grey and Mary I. Jane Grey was blood related to the monarchy and was in line to the throne (behind Mary and Elizabeth) but she wasn’t seen or recognised as the rightful Queen of England, Mary was and people rallied to her and not Jane.

How do you describe princess clover's relationship with her family?

It’s a complicated one. She was very close to her family when she was a child and always tried to make her father proud but it began to strain a lot when she got older and he kept dismissing her ideas on how to improve the kingdom and even dismissing her right to take the throne after him.

Many of the Club nobles are trying to marry her off in order for her husband to be the real person in charge and her father is trying his best to push for this as well. Clover is constantly fighting him on it.

She’s close to her sister and look out for one another but Sakura notices her sister become a lot more icy over the years especially with their parents siding with the nobles over her.

If Eben managed to marry Clover, would he focus on finding someone for Sakura?

He’s trying to do it at the same time but he is a little more focused on Clover since she is Clubs future. He feels more relaxed when it comes Sakura since she is a little more ‘relaxed’ and ‘accepts’ it while Clover is constantly fighting him and any of the suitors he suggests.
