do you have any quotes about music and obsession? <3
"Music pours over the sense / and in a funny way / music sees more than I."
— Anne Sexton, To Bedlam and Part Way Back; from ‘Music Swims Back to Me’
"I do adore music, […] It just seems to say all the things one can’t say oneself."
— Virginia Woolf, from ‘The Voyage Out’
"After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."
— Aldous Huxley, Music at Night and Other Essays; from ‘The Rest Is Silence’
"Music hurts me [...] I let it caress me. but these caresses are injurious. How should I say it? Music is a weeping in melodies, a remembrance in notes, a painting in sounds."
"Listening to music, I always have exactly the same feeling: something’s missing. Never will I learn the cause of this gentle sadness, never will I wish to investigate it."
"There's something missing when I don't hear music, and when I do, then there's really something missing."
— Robert Walser, Masquerade and Other Stories; from 'From Fritz Kocher's Essays: Music', tr. Susan Bernofsky
"So many songs remind me of you. You are indeed my musical lovely one."
— Anne Sexton, from ‘A Self-Portrait in Letters’: Anne Clarke, 17th November 1970
"music washed into the cove of my room, / my door open to a slice of light. // I felt a melancholy I couldn't have named, / a longing for what I couldn't yet have said / or understood but still / knew was longing, / knew was sadness / untouched by time."
— Emilie Buchwald, from 'My Mother's Music'
"(But what she was really trying to say was this: I like music better than anything in the world, after you.)"
— Jonathan Safran Foer, from ‘Everything is Illuminated’
"The musical art often speaks in sounds more penetrating than the words of poetry, and takes hold of the most hidden crevices of the heart…"
"Without music life would be a mistake."
— Friedrich Nietzsche
"Great, indeed, is the power of music, sometimes immense."
— Robert Walser, Selected Stories; from 'A Letter to Therese Breitbach', tr. Christopher Middleton & Others
"...music heralds the onrush of the daemonic spirit."
— Stefan Zweig, from 'The Struggle with the Daemon', tr. Paul Cedar & Paul Eden
"The air of life is music, and I live."
— Denise Levertov, The Double Image: from 'The Air of Life’
"…this heavenly mania, this lovely obsession."
— Gail Jones, from ‘Dreams of Speaking’
"I never imagined such obsession would await me in the next life."
— Kurahashi Yumiko, The Woman with the Flying Head and Other Stories; from 'The Long Passage of Dreams', tr. Atsuko Sakaki
"I was in a state which I well knew was close to a sort of madness, and yet I was not mad. Some kinds of obsession, of which being in love is one, paralyse the ordinary free-wheeling of the mind, its natural open interested curious mode of being, which is sometimes persuasively defined as rationality. I was sane enough to know that I was in a state of total obsession and that I could only think, over and over again, certain agonizing thoughts, could only run continually along the same rat-paths of fantasy and intent. But I was not sane enough to interrupt this mechanical movement or even to desire to do so."
— Iris Murdoch, from 'The Sea, the Sea'
"My evil obsession keeps me here"
— Ted Hughes, Tales from Ovid; from 'Myrrha'
"Never worry about being obsessive. I like obsessive people. Obsessive people make great art."
— Susan Sontag, from 'Sempre Susan: A Memoir of Susan Sontag' by Sigrid Nunez
"What am I interested in? Passion. Obsession."
"If the love was passion, the hate will be obsession."
—Jeanette Winterson, from 'The Passion'
"I know the horror of primal feelings, obsessions."
— Sylvia Plath, from 'The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath'
"I expose myself to life, and from that, ideas come as a surprise. I totally dismiss the ones that are pleasant and easy. I’m only interested in the ones that really disturb me and that I get obsessed about."
— Marina Abramović
"...I am nothing in my soul if not obsessive."
— Donna Tartt, from 'The Secret History'

"My Friend, RIP":
Matthäus and Others Pay Tribute to Soccer Icon and Golden Boy Diego Armando Maradona
— By Peter Vice | Wednesday, November 25, 2020 | BuliNews.Com
The entire footballing world stands still. Some of Germany's most famous footballing personalities process their shock and deep mourning for the loss of the country's greatest rival; and possibly greatest world footballer of all time.
It remains early hours, with better eulogies yet to come. The German internationals who had the privilege of playing against the great Diego Armando Maradona begin to pay their respects.
As the evening wore, all the living German footballing legends contributed homages to a footballer without equal.
Tumblr media
My friend 😔 RIP🌹! Lothar Matthäus.
1986 belonged to the Albiceleste. In 1990, it was the turn of the newly re-unified Bundesrepublik. The epic Germany vs. Argentina World Cup battles would never have been possible without the late great Diego Armando Maradona.
The rivalry has continued well into the new century. It remains a sporting duel based on the deepest of mutual respect.
The tributes began to trickle in on Wednesday evening after a legend sorrowfully departed this earthly vale far before his time.
Rudi Völler (1986 and 1990 World Cup Finalist)
"A wonderful player. His early death is a bitter blow for all of football."
Bodo Illgner (1990 World Cup Finalist)
"For the footballing world, his death is a huge loss. We will miss him. The discussions of who is better, Messi or Maradona, will continue for decades to come without anyone being able to definitively settle the issue."
Toni Schumacher (1986 World Cup Finalist)
"Diego was a genius on the football pitch; a true magician. No one could best him on the grand stage in my time. I mourn together with Argentina and the rest of the football world for the hand off God."
Klaus Augenthaler (1986 and 1990 World Cup Finalist)
"When I'm asked who the best footballer I ever played against was, there is only one answer: Diego Maradona! Diego embodied everything that makes a great footballer. He was so often targeted with hard fouls, but he always shook it off and kept playing."
Guido Buchwald (1990 World Cup Finalist)
"I am truly shocked. Diego Maradona left us far too early at the age of 60; the man whom the world witnessed play commanded so much respect and brought so much joy."
Jupp Heynckes:
"Maradona juggled the ball with all parts of his body--like a circus artist. It was a terrific show. If the Gods wish to argue who the greatest footballer of all time was, Maradona was a genius; a peerless footballer. He was already mythic during his playing days. The grief shall be immeasurable. The footballing heavens weep for Diego Maradona."
Stefan Engels:
"I played against him twice. He was the best footballer I've ever seen. A genius with incredible ideas. I'm very sad about his death. The good Lord definitely took him far too soon."
Wolfgang Overath:
"The entire footballing world bows before one of the greatest geniuses our sport has ever produced. Few had skills like Maradona. It is cruel that he left us so young."

New Post on Pfalzfussball.de
New Post has been published on http://www.pfalzfussball.de/eilmeldung-die-lotto-elf-in-dirmstein/
Eilmeldung: Die Lotto-Elf in Dirmstein
Am Mittwoch, dem 16. August, tritt die Fußball-Prominentenmannschaft Lotto-Elf um 19:00 Uhr unter anderem mit Europameister Stefan Kuntz, Weltmeister Guido Buchwald sowie Ex-Nationaltorhüter Timo Hildebrand gegen eine Ü40-Auswahl des TuS 1946 Dirmstein an. Der Erlös kommt der Initiative „Freiwurf für Fabi“ zugute. Erwachsene zahlen 6 Euro Eintritt, Jugendliche 3 Euro.
