The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial
The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial [trailer]
Follows a naval officer who stands trial for mutiny after taking command from a ship captain he felt was acting in an unstable way, putting both the ship and its crew in danger.
Despite consisting of only people talking and taking place at one location, an intense and gripping watch. I would've loved to see the play.
Does a very good job of staying ambivalent for a very long time.
The final scene after the trial took me a bit by surprise. While I understand where Greenwald is coming from, it still seemed harsh considering that it had been established that Queeg is not fit for duty.
Shows the problem of not documenting incidents out of misguided consideration, and the at times difficulty of following orders in the military chain-of-command.

Films of 2023: The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial
Grade: D
Every few years CBS has an “ambitious/unconventional” legal pilot that is indistinguishable from this (One Courtroom. One Case. Start to Finish.).
