#The Little Mermaid Revamp I Need
My first Fancuries "For Your Consideration" post
Seasonal Sister Pretty Cure:
Themes: Sisters, fairytales, and seasons
I came up with Seasonal Sister Pretty Cure in 2021 and revamped it in 2022. It's about Aimee, who's from “Aurore and Aimee,” and her talking pink pomeranian, Acorn getting rescued by a woman named Katherine after her sister Queen Aurore of Champomme accuses her of kidnapping and killing her son. Katherine uses a magic book to take Aimee to a secluded forest where nymphs live. The fairytales were the nymphs’ history and fairytale authors based books on the history. Many Seasonal Sister teams lived in the town briefly before Aimee’s team. The team's enemies are Baba Yaga who wants to take the nymphs' magic, the knights of morning, day, and night, and the cures’ sisters. The power ups are themed after seasons and fairytale tropes. The weapons are fans.
The series movie will be about the cures and villains meeting the original versions of them that I made up in 2021 in an alternate universe.
Amelia “Aimee” Isaac/Cure Orchard:
Aimee becomes a cure in episode 1 and leads Seasonal Sister Pretty Cure. Fifteen-year-old Aimee and her twenty-five year old sister Aurore were raised by their mom, a famous actress named Fifi, in the early 1900s. Their dad went into a forest over a decade ago and died. Ten years before Aimee became a cure, Fifi got a chance to get a role that could help her be a famous actress liked she dreamed but she needed to lie that she was younger. She lied, got the role, and sent Aurore through the forest her husband died in to stay with her relatives. Aurore didn't come back and Fifi and Aimee thought she was dead. A lady named Carine took care of Aurore and taught her how to do magic. When she grew up, Aurore fell in love with the kingdom's young king. They got married and had a son, but he went missing. After they searched for him for two years, Aurore blamed Aimee.
Aimee loves shopping because she grew up in a city. She bakes often, especially desserts like caramel apples which her cure theme is. Aimee’s love interest is her sister's husband's younger brother, Florimond, who moves into the forest in episode 5. Aimee's the fall cure.
Princess Victoria “Tori” Bird/Cure Aquatic:
Tori becomes a cure in episode two and is the second in command. She's been Aimee's frenemy since 2021, but they'll also be best friends when the season ends. She's fifteen and the summer cure. Tori’s the Little Mermaid. Her grandma told her a false legend that a mermaid can get a soul by being in a relationship with a human. Liss the sea sorceress turns her into a human. Tori tries to date a prince on land named Finn, but he starts dating her slightly older sister, Lena. Katherine rescues her from needing to hurt Finn and gives her a potion to reverse Liss’s potion.
Tori loves singing and listening to 50s music because she lived in the 50s. She wants to start a band with the cures. Like Aimee, she doesn't like her fairytale. Tori’s theme is the ocean. Tori’s the summer cure.
Princess Geraldine “Deenie” Jang/Cure Meadow:
Deenie became a cure in episode 3. She's thirteen and Tatterhood. She and her twin sister Linda were born because of magic. Deenie was crazier than Linda. Her mom nicknamed her Tatterhood. On Christmas, witches attacked her palace. Linda's head got turned into a bluebell, but she joined the witches. Then, Katherine took Deenie and later on, her talking goat friend Astrid to the forest. Deenie’s from the 20s.
Deenie likes wild animals and riding horses. She practices fighting with a giant wooden spoon. Deenie’s themes are hyacinths. Deenie's the spring cure.
Gwendolyn “Gwen” Tighe/Cure Frost:
Gwen became a cure in episode 4. She's thirteen and Rose Red. Her sister Hally aka “Snow White” and she were nicknamed because of their hair colors. They grew up in a forest with their mom. They met a bear named Arthur and became best friends. Months later, Gwen and Hally tried to help Arthur and found out that an evil man cursed him. Hally became a witch and Katherine took Gwen, and after her, Arthur to the forest. Katherine wanted to help Hally and Gwen. Gwen’s from the 80s.
Gwen likes writing poetry. Tori wants her to join her band and write songs. Gwen gardens, too. Gwen's themes are frosted roses. Gwen's the winter cure.
Katherine Fernandez:
Katherine used to be a cure and takes care of Seasonal Sister Pretty Cure cures. She's from “Kate Crackernuts.”
The knights:
Quinn and Lacy are sisters and Silvia is their stepsister. They're Baba Yaga’s best trio. Quinn is the oldest and is more serious and empathetic than Silvia, who's bratty. They're from “Vasilisa the Beautiful.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fangirls! Pretty Cure:
Themes: Fandoms, fan work
Fangirls! is the team I want to revamp next. It's about four girls who are in a fandom that's popular. The mascot is a red poodle named Domi. The big good never is in contact with the cures, but it's implied it's the author of the books that started the fandom.
The cures:
Rosalind/Cure Fanfiction (will probably change her cure name, a pink cure)
Irene/Cure Silhouette (the blue fanart cure)
Joy/Cure Ship (a yellow cure)
Franchesca/Cure Hypothesis (the green theory cure)
The villains:
Mary Sue (the power desiring middle aged big bad)
Y/N (a girl stuck going between Y/N fanfictions and shapeshifting into the readers)
Break a Leg! Pretty Cure:
Themes: theatre, triple threats, Broadway
This is the one I'm most likely to write next. It's about high schoolers named Aviana and Carina being in the ensemble of their high school’s production of Wicked. Aviana is an actress and Carina is a singer and a popular girl. A dancer named Tegan is also in Wicked. She becomes friends with the cures. The mascot is a ferret named Thea. The transformation devices are scripts and highlighters. The power ups are Broadway pins.
Cures:
Aviana/Cure Skit
Carina/Cure Soundtrack
Tumblr media
Hello Pretty Cure
Themes: Sanrio
It's getting revamped, but the main duo is a girl and her identical twin sister. Twin Star themed characters are the mascots. There are two subteams that fight villains in the town.
Cures:
Cure Kitty (lead)
Cure Mimmy (second in command)
Cure Cinnamorol (late joiner)
Cure My Melody
Cure Piano
Cure Maru
Cure Keroppi
Cure Usahana
Cure Button
Cure Hummingmint
Cure Lala
Cure Kiki
Tumblr media
Sugarcoated Cake Pretty Cure
Themes: desserts and parties (I know Delicious Party did this before me)
Cures:
Candela “Candy” Casabuena/Cure Confetti:
She's eleven and a rainbow cure. She's the lead cure with a confetti cake and birthday party theme.
Power ups:
Candy: Jawbreaker
Cookie: Sugar
Donut: Sprinkle
Ice cream: Sherbet
Pastry: Toaster
Mira Lamour/Cure Bride:
She's twenty two and has been a cure before being in Sugarcoated Cake Pretty Cure. She's a white cure and the oldest cure in the team. She has a wedding cake and wedding theme. She's closest with Cure Petite
Power ups:
Candy: Salt water taffy
Cookie: Black and white
Donut: Jelly
Ice cream: Baked Alaska
Pastry: Cream puff
Layla Abrahams/Cure Slumber:
She's twelve and the closest with Cure Confetti. She's a pink cure. Her themes are brownies and slumber parties.
Power ups:
Candy: Smore
Cookie: Chocolate chip
Donut: Cream-filled
Ice cream: Float
Pastry: Cinnamon roll
Alani Chibashira/Cure Petite:
She's six and the youngest cure in Sugarcoated Cake. She's an orange cure and her themes are petit fours and tea parties.

Ice cream: Snowcone
Pastry: Pretzel
Spilled Milk Pretty Cure:
Themes: Milk, childhood
Cures:

What do you think about the live disney princess movies? Like the beauty and the beast could’ve used separate actors for visual acting and the singing, Emma Watson was a bit dodgy idk. The music is toned down in the live action versions either by removing the songs or just being poorly done. Listening to some clips of the little mermaid 😘 hopefully I get around to seeing whole thing.
so when i was watching the live action beauty and the beast and lamenting the horrible music choices i had a mutual who actually linked me this video essay talking about live action disney's music choices in general and it was quite revealing, i highly recommend it. as for how i felt about the movie on a personal level.. i despised it lol. i think in my thread for rewatching all of these princess movies it took up the most space bc i had so many complaints 😭 here are a few summarized lol:
why i think the drop-off in disney live actions occurs after maleficent and cinderella is bc of the fact that these two were not originally musical movies. there were far less constraints present by which disney had to orient the original character arcs, and it gave the writers room to take the stories where they wanted to. the disney live actions after don't have this luxury bc almost all of them are based on films that were movie musicals in the first place. so you're essentially recreating a film almost letter for letter, while nonetheless trying to push it beyond those constraints, and it overall makes for a product that feels very.. awkward. not to mention the live action's music simply does not compare to the original's in any way, like adapting one of disney's best soundtracks ever was already going to be a hassle but they somehow managed to plummet even further below expectations with the end product
in that vein, i think what the live action beauty and the beast really suffers from is being both underwritten and overwritten. it's not willing to expand on the movie's original canon and instead creates new canon where it's not even necessary. for example: the live action cinderella expands on lady tremaine's cruelty and gives it a basis rather than making her into a randomly evil figure. comparatively, the live action beauty and the beast introduces lore as to how belle and the beast's mothers died and it's just.. not needed at all? they don't bond with each other over tragedy. they bond with each other over being outcasts who are misunderstood.
the live action also strips the original movie of all of its fun. there's no scene with belle's father chancing upon a moment of explosive genius, no maneuvering gaston out of the house into a pig puddle while the wedding band unceremoniously breaks into song. it's so lifeless as a movie bc there's only so much it can translate to a live action medium. this also applies to so much of the line delivery, which hardly feels theatrical anymore
the beast.. i'm so upset over how they revamped his character. there's so much deliberation and built up suspense in his original introduction to both maurice and belle that is simply lost in the adaptation. the beast's not an aggressor from the start, he prowls, he approaches slowly, bc he recognizes that he is viewed by others as a monster, bc he anticipates the rejection and fear. he's not actually an animal at heart in the original. he's the one who offers her a room, he's skeptical but quietly hopeful she might join him for dinner. the frustration only comes after bc it's paired with the despair and desperation of knowing that he may live like this forever. the live action carries none of that nuance. it paints him as an aggressor, as someone who doesn't even Want to treat her as anything more than a prisoner, and is forced into placating her by his servants. it completely fails to understand the beast wanted to break the spell, but he felt hopeless as to how
i respect that emma watson is a feminist but that really did not call for altering the entire script of a movie that was already fine and feminist in its own right lol.. like if i wanted to watch a movie about a man learning that it's not girly and cringe to read romeo and juliet i would peruse romance book twt like it was an entertainment channel. the beast's problem originally was that he had spent so long living as a beast he forgot how to live as a human. he forgot how to read bc in his mind no beast needs to learn how to read. to turn that portrayal of insecurity and shame into something about him not respecting shakespeare was just.. utterly stupid? and condescending?
all of this to say i wasn't really a fan of any of the live actions after maleficent and cinderella lol like obv each movie has its unique issues but they are in the same vein as this one's. except, lo and behold, the hype for the little mermaid was so highly anticipated ig that they decided to learn sense and actually put substantial effort into it. i really think it's the best live action disney adaptation thus far, there are so many things about it i love, not least of all the actually sensible feminist changes to the original script as compared to how beauty and the beast tried to recreate something as "feminist" that was already feminist in the first place. like there's no doubt about it, the original the little mermaid is very largely framed around ariel's desire to be with eric. but without giving away too many spoilers, the live action does such a marvelous job at reframing ariel's desire as one for the world, and in a way that really emphasizes on her conflict with triton. i do have a few minor complaints of the film but as a whole it's a really well done revamp that takes an originally very daring female protagonist and fleshes her out even more in the best way possible. eric is also given way more agency and personality so it really feels like you're watching the development of a romance between equals. i am absolutely sure you'll enjoy it when you watch it!

✨Simblr New Years Resolutions 2024✨
Tagged by @cassandragoth26 (:
What's your Resolution for your Simblr?
Keeping my queue going, I suppose? But also not pushing myself too much since I'm a full time student with other hobbies too. Finishing gen 6 of the Borealis legacy, maybe? Make friends, talk more to my mutuals maybe. A lot of the people who were here and who I talked to when I joined aren't active anymore, so I'm going to have to put some effort in lol.
In general I just want to be a positive presence here
What do you want from the Sims Franchise?
I'd love a revamp of the aliens and mermaids. There's very little worthwile about them as they are in game right now, as much as it pains me to admit. Less kits and more stuff packs. Quality over quantity. Less "america-centric" content and more diversity. What we have so far is p good. It'd be nice if something was done w the family trees. Working elevators would be really good for For Rent gameplay and building. Less bugs and glitches overall. I just want it to be a better quality game.
I remember there being theories about sign language before For Rent, but we didn't get that. Would be nice though.
Any other New Years Resolutions?
I don't really tend to do resolutions, but I set my reading goal to 25 this year, so I'm crossing my fingers about that. I wanna watch tons of good movies. More international and more Norwegian cinema for sure. Write more. Play great games. Finish that one sweater I've been knitting. Maybe start knitting another one I want. I wanna try knitting socks for my mom for her birthday or christmas maybe. (I'm knitting my first pair ever and I need her help a lot so we'll see how that goes. First one looks p good tho ngl). Take more pictures. Get better at photography. Get the pictures I've been taking on the film camera I got developed, but I need to use up all my pictures before that.
A lot of wishful thinking lol
Tagging @hiddenspriings, @theworstsimblr and @nervousgnome 😁 (but no pressure of course, as always)

Aw fuck as if revitalising my SP AU wasn’t enough I’m back into Sodor Rehydrated (tbf I never really finished what I started)
But I’ll start with a little revamp of the Barnett’s since Anchor in particular had such a weird introduction and also Pirate needs some better backstory. Also Cap has a sister now bcuz I rode on the Anne Allen boat last summer and she’s my tribute to it & the connection with Cap and Pirate.
Anchor, Mermaid, Pirate, Augustus, Penelope and Annie are mine

The Able Sisters, Because Why The Hell Not
Tumblr media
Sable, also known as あさみ or Asami in Japanese/Mizuno is a special NPC from the Animal Crossing series. After millions of years at the sewing machine, she finally got up and got transformed into a mermaid. I guess this is why she’s always there in the actual AC game. She just can’t get transformed.. unless?
Mabel, also known as きぬよ or Kinuyo in Japanese/Mizuno is a special NPC from the Animal Crossing series. She didn’t realize she was prone to transformation until bottle of water made its fall. Sable would have to leave that seat after all that time, and get her to the ocean.. only to get transformed that same night while sleeping away from her shop to take care of her sister. I gotta say, I respect that. Taking care of the transformed is somewhat difficult and Sable did that right, until she was transformed herself.
Fortunately, they can now both explore the ocean together. Mabel enjoys it a lot, though Sable needs a little getting used to.
However, with this new life, they’ll have to revamp their fashion empire for this new world. Can they make it? Only one way to find out.
Don’t worry about Label, she’ll be here soon!
Mabel’s birthday is on May 22nd.
Sable’s birthday is on November 22nd.

Share more about the Centaur Breaker? That sounds so neat!
Heya Anon!! Thanks for asking, I like this one!
The Centaur Breaker has its first chapter out already (2.8k). And I have 1.3k of the second chapter, and no real story block.
The idea got started when the Zaundads community was in full swing. Every day I was discussing mermaid AU, Werewolf AU, Fairy AU... You get the idea. We were trying it all for size. So I got very excited, pushed through the centaur AU, and posted the first chapter just when I was starting to seriously burn out. It was one fic too many, and got left on the way side when I decided to focus on F&D.
I've been a great fan of Ryou Sumiyoshi's "Jinba" (Centaurs) series since I laid hands on it. It's set in an alternate Japan, where in the Edo period centaurs are being hunted and exploited by humans. It gets *dark*. Like "amputate both his arms so he can't run away" dark. But it's also sweet and hopeful, and the proof that centaurs themselves aren't too tropey for good story-telling.
So while I definitely want to continue this AU, I also need to actually finish F&D, take a break from Arcane/wrap up some WIPs, and then give it some serious thought. Especially since I'm thinking this is the sort of story I could revamp to make original.
Besides, the AU got some fabulous fanart by @sirrenhead who really surprised me with the perfect depiction for Vander :
I did my own Vander, and a piece of Silco laughing his ass off having to rescue foal-Powder from some mud, because foals are just dumb, always.

The Little Mermaid: A Part of my World Come To Life
Tumblr media
Looking back, I have never been so excited for a Disney live-action movie.
It was my biggest childhood fantasy dream came to life. I feel like I have waited for this for 20 years and now, I finally saw it and I couldn't ask for anything more.
Before the actual review of the movie, I'll take myself (and you guys) on a little trip down memory lane for a little bit.
*nostalgic music*
I was about 3 or 4 (Idk exactly) when I saw Disney's The Little Mermaid for the very first time and her song "Part of your World" was one of the very first songs that I have ever learnt to sing.
Of course, I can't remember most of this but I remember being mesmerized by Ariel and the environment of the entire underwater kingdom. I love her so much that I even dreamed of becoming a mermaid at one point in my life.
I also collected a few Ariel-related merch, including a paper doll that I folded in the bottom part that made it seem like she had fins and I walked around the hallway of my house and waved her around and imagined she was swimming.
I would also like to share that with the few times that I have been to Disneyland (I've only been to HongKong Disneyland and Disneyland California), I have always teared up at everything Little Mermaid-related. Hearing the melody of her theme song always fills my eyes with tears. Seems like I'm exaggerating, but it's true.
Throughout my childhood and teenage years, Ariel had a constant spot in my top 3 favorite Disney Princesses (she's usually switching with Belle for the top one spot) and I seemed to always wish for a live-action movie.
And now, it finally came true....
*a little over 6 months ago*
During D23 last year, the first teaser to the live-action Little Mermaid movie starring Halle Bailey was revealed and I remember watching it over and over again, just to listen to her sing the last bit of Part of your World and I admit that I teared up just hearing that.
It was at this point that I knew that this film is something that my child self and present self would enjoy.
And I did...
The Movie Review
This review will not need spoiler warnings because the movie is still the same story (with a few twists that I will not reveal for the sake of still leaving you guys with surprises) from the original 1989 animated movie.
First off, the review of the characters and I shall start with the titular character herself, Princess Ariel. Ariel (Halle Bailey) is mesmerizing. Ariel's signature instrument is her voice and Halle just hypnotized me with it. Every time she vocalizes and sings, I just turn awestruck and teary-eyed. She's meant to be Ariel and I couldn't imagine anybody else playing my favorite princess.
As for Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King), he is a good love interest and character overall. I love how he adventurous he is. He may have a solo song in the movie so watch out for that.
The king himself, King Triton (Javier Bardem), is executed well. In the scene where he finds out that Ariel is in love with a human, his anger just emanated through the screen and I frightened myself a bit and I shared Ariel's sadness when he destroyed her entire collection because I would have reacted the same way.
No story is complete without a villain and Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) just serves. I love how funny she can be, especially with how Melissa enunciated some of her lines and sang her song "Poor Unfortunate Souls". She's one of those villains who can make me scared and laugh at the same time.
The side characters Scuttle (Awkwafina), Sebastian (Daveed Diggs) and Flounder (Jacob Tremblay) remains to be iconic. Their dynamics with each other is just hilarious and they provide some of the most light-hearted moments in the film.
Songs wise, I have nothing to complain about because they simply revamped the original music from the original film and turned it into something more modern. I also love the new songs that Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote for the film. I will be listening to them on repeat, for sure.
I am not one to be technical so I don't really have complaints about the CGI and stuff like that. I know there are some flaws because movies are not made to be perfect and I simply like to appreciate everything.
I would like to thank the cast and crew for bringing this amazing story that I love so much to live-action. It is stunning, mesmerizing and enchanting. I also like to thank Halle Bailey for bringing Ariel to life. I couldn't imagine any other person playing her than you!
*conclusion*
I am honestly still reeling from this movie experience because I really feel like I've waited for this my whole life and now that it's done, I just want to relive every single moment. I will surely watch it again when it comes on digital because how can I not?
Ariel's story is a part of my world that I have been retreating to for comfort and happiness and seeing that story come to life just gave happiness to my inner child. This is a movie that I will forever love and cherish.
Be sure to join Ariel and friends under the sea by watching "The Little Mermaid" this Friday in theaters.

a/n: I can't believe I'm revamping this fic but I'm revamping this fic - it will be uploaded on ao3 as well, I will not be updating it on ffn.

Klaus isn't one for love triangles - he's not even one for love.
He's counted less than a handful of times where he has allowed himself to feel close enough to someone outside of his siblings to even call it that.
At most, this was just an infatuation of sorts, it must be.
Because he just couldn't fathom liking the same girl as his younger brother.
"Nik," Kol releases, as soon as he sees him. "Where have you been?" He wonders, realizing how he hadn't seen his brother for quite a few hours.
Klaus stammers, being uncomfortable with the memory of his biological father and his offer to stay with him. "I had a few errands to run," he nervously says.
Errands? Kol thinks, unable to remember the last time Klaus had been this responsible about his chores.
He observes them both carefully - how well Kol is dressed and how pretty Hayley's dress is. "I take it you both just came back from dinner with mother and father," Klaus concludes.
Kol and Hayley share a look, feeling a bit awkward about the whole situation.
"Yes," Kol nods. "I was just about to ask Hayley how she was feeling about everything," he says, shyly.
Klaus places a finger on his chin, pondering. "That's strangely considerate of you," he realizes just how much his brother is changing in the short amount of time that he's known Hayley.
It's unexpected, but he feels a smidge of jealousy.
"Hayley," Kol goes on, interrupting Klaus' thoughts. The girl looks at him while playing with a strand of her hair. "Did our parents say or do anything to make you uncomfortable?" he asks.
She thinks back to Esther's kindness, how close she felt to her just in the short time she had known her. Hayley shakes her head.
"Really?" Klaus notes, wide-eyed. "That's...surprising," he sighs, turning to his younger brother.
Kol senses an even bigger change, one deep inside himself. "Perhaps," he shrugs. "They've actually taken a liking to her?" he wonders, meeting Klaus' gaze.
The other brother focuses his vision on Hayley - how close she stands next to Kol, how comfortable she seems around him. "Maybe so," Klaus notes. "I suppose stranger things have happened," he softly says, thinking of how easily these two seem to fit together.
And how quickly their charade seemed to have become reality.
-
The beach calls her name - like a love song.
Hayley is restless that night, rolling around in her bed, staring at the ceiling, sweating.
Being human is still strange - it's nice not being alone or exiled by her own kind, being accepted by a lively family, having siblings - sort of anyway. But it's still all so new.
"You're awake," Henrik pops out from under her bed and scares her.
She was so busy being stressed out by her thoughts, she didn't even notice him sneaking in.
"What's wrong? Have a nightmare?" Henrik asks again, as Hayley offers him a nod of the head. He hops into bed with her, looking a little sad. "I have trouble sleeping too, bad dreams are all too common in this house, I'm afraid," he sounds so broken, all of a sudden.
Hayley knows the Mikaelson household is a lot colder than people think - despite their riches, their fame, how close the siblings seem to be, there is still so much loneliness in everyone's eyes.
She appreciates how easily Henrik bonds with her though - she's never had a younger sibling before, though she's always wanted one.
"Henrik," Cami bursts through the open door. "There you are, why are you out of bed?" she sings, joining the two.
Hayley motions for Cami to hop in but patting her hand on the sheets. She slips in beside Henrik, wrapping an arm around him.
"Cami," he whispers, "I didn't know you were still here," he adds.
"Rebekah asked me to spend the night - I'm just staying in her room," she continues. "I came out because I heard all the ruckus this little one was making," she smiles, teasing Henrik.
Hayley appreciates both their warmth - it can be quite scary sleeping in this big room, all by herself.
"I've always found this house so eerily quiet at night, you know?" Cami suddenly says.
Henrik looks at Hayley who also looks a bit scared. "We agree," he grins.
And that's the thing about the Mikaelson mansion, from the outside, it looks like this perfect palace - and once you're inside, you realize it's just feels so haunting.
(The three of them hold hands, walking together towards the balcony. They sit there for a bit, just looking out towards the beach.
"The water looks so calm tonight," Henrik comments.
"It's so strange isn't it?" Cami tells them. "Just the other day, it was raging on like a storm, now it's like a summer sea," she realizes.
Hayley looks there too, remembers her old home - the deep blue ocean, the fishes, the coral and seaweed.
Sometimes, she feels like it never really existed.
"I wonder what it's like," Henrik quips. "Way out there," he exhales, thinking more and more about the vast waters before them.
"I do too," Cami agrees - noticing how disconnected Hayley seems.
Almost as if she's been there before).

xvii: fix the fridge light and replace the phone
-
The sun invades Rebekah's room like an invited guest.
She finds a note on her bed, carefully written.
Such pretty hand-writing, she knows it's Cami's - so delicate and careful. Somehow, it almost makes her angrier about her early departure.
The fact that it's just so beautiful.
(Hey Rebekah, I know I know - you hate me right now but, before you send me an angry text I'll never get, just hear me out. I left something for you under your pillow, it's something I brought back from my last research trip, I hope you think of me when you wear it.
Rebekah holds back her tongue - she knows how important Cami's research is and how much value it has.
She shoves her hand under her pillow and finds a gorgeous piece of seaglass strung across a chain. It's green mixed with a bit of yellow - like Cami's eyes).
"Sister," Klaus walks in to her room with a shiny tray of freshly made pancakes, syrup, whip cream, strawberries and a warm cup of coffee. "I've brought you breakfast," he says, taking weird looks around her room.
Rebekah raises a brow as she takes the hot drink in hand. "What brings about such kindness, dear brother?" she laments.
Klaus keeps avoiding her eyes. "Can't you just thank me?" he offers.
She notices how disappointed he looks and connect the dots quite easily. This food wasn't intentionally made for her, after all. "If you're looking for Hayley," she concludes. "She woke up quite early and already had breakfast with Henrik and Kol," Rebekah tells him, recalling hearing their voices while she was half asleep, shortly after Cami had already left.
"Kol? Waking up early?" Klaus retorts. "I never thought I'd see the day," he huffs, with his hands on his hips.
His sister smiles as she starts digging in to the pancakes. "He's a changed man," she comments."Hmm, these pancakes are to die for, Nik!" She cheers, smiling.
Klaus feels that tinge of jealousy he felt earlier suddenly grow bigger. "Glad you like them," he quietly says, attempting to hide his real emotions.
-
Kol spends more and more time with Hayley.
He doesn't like to think that he's gotten close to her or that, somehow, she gets under his skin - it's just that, he needs to make this whole she's his girlfriend act convincing, you know? Whether that means having meals together, standing a bit closer to her than he usually does, even maybe looking deep into her eyes -
The truth is, he just really likes being around her.
She waves to Henrik as he runs off to play with some other kids he spots by the beach.
"He's very fond of you," Kol observes. "My little brother, I mean, he's usually quite shy around anyone but our family. I suppose you're part of ours now," he babbles on and he almost bites his tongue.
God, what the hell was he saying right now? He sounded like a fool - calling her his family, really? He's only known her for a little over a month!
What was wrong with him?
"Would you like to go for a swim with me?" Kol requests instead, trying to change the subject and how flustered he felt at the moment.
She offers him a bright smile, running head first into the water.
He feels a continuing flutter in his heart as he watches her shiver from the coldness of the water. Right, it was November after all - maybe not the best time for a swim but, she almost seemed like she was weirdly used to it.
Hayley warms up quickly and swishes around the water almost as if it's part of her.
"You're quite the talented swimmer, my darling," Kol compliments, joining her.
The water pushes them closer and closer to each other and his hand instinctively grazes against her cheek - her hair is wet and covering her eyes but, she can see just enough to understand that he's going for it.
He wants to kiss her.
"KOLLLL!!!"
Just then, they hear Henrik's scream.
-
He's afraid of water, Kol whispers, as he and Hayley swim towards him. "I'm such an idiot," he curses himself, swimming quicker. "I should've kept a better eye on him," he shouts, seeing the top of his brother's head peeking out of the waves.
Hayley swims faster than him, getting to Henrik first and lifting him up from his waist. She gives him a look, indicating that he was safe now, she was here, after all.
"Henrik!" Kol scolds, when he catches up to them. "What were you thinking? You know you could've drowned!" he shakes him back and forth, worriedly.
Hayley takes him back to the shore, covering him in a dry towel.
"I'm sorry brother," Henrik replies to Kol. "I just thought I could finally face my fear, ever since the incident that happened to Nik I -"
Kol furrows his brow - he remembers that day too, when Klaus almost drowned to death, how he was saved by some miracle. Or a mermaid, which is what Henrik claims.
He hates how his little brother still blames himself for that incident.
"Do you know how much you scared me?" Kol responds, still with a stressed out tone. Hayley is taken aback, she's never seen Kol like this. "Promise me you'll never go to the water alone, ever again?" He tells him
"But Kol -"
"Promise me!"
Henrik bites his lip, he looks at Hayley who also seemed worried about his well-being. "I-" he starts. "I promise," he finally agrees as a sense of relief washes over Kol's face.
Hayley is touched by how close both the youngest Mikaelson brothers seem to be.

xviii: maybe it will fix us if we spend our lives on country roads
-
Klaus' balcony is filled with his old paintings. He barely uses the space there for anything else but, it does offer him a good view of the beach. He pushes the painting aside, making his way towards the edge. He notices Hayley, Kol and Henrik right away. He keeps an eye on them.
He shouldn't feel this way, he shouldn't be so angry at the fact that they're friends. At the fact that their parents accept them.
At the fact that Mikael would never scold Kol for having a girl but Klaus, he's not even allowed to smile around him.
He feels frightened - Mikael's abuse scares him. He thinks of their fight, of the scar on his cheek, where Hayley had last touched him.
Mikael had mentioned how the scar had disappeared, he wonders how it happened so quickly.
Then.
Klaus' ringtone interrupts his thoughts.
Ansel.
He thinks about his offer once again.
Is leaving truly the best option for him? His family was his everything, he can't imagine living without Elijah's laugh, or Finn's smile, Kol's shenanigans, Rebekah's kindness, Henrik's clinginess, and now, Hayley's warmth -
He puts the idea to rest for now.
He goes back to staring at the beach.

Thank you, Kita!!
📚 favorite fandom for write for?
Definitely Marvel, Young Justice/DC Comics, The Mandalorian, Descendants, and My Hero Academia. I did have a lot of fun with Voltron and Harry Potter at one point, but Voltron's last two or three seasons killed it for me and I lost interest. Harry Potter I would need to revamp that fic, but I'm just not motivated to do that. Maybe one day.
💡what inspires your fic ideas?
It honestly could be anything. Marnie's story for Young Justice was inspired by my love of witches and magic. I always loved Halloween Town so Marnie from there gave me Marnie my OC. Then there is the video game Haunting Ground. It gave me the idea for Marnie's villain. I also really want to play it for myself but will never get the chance.
Casali was inspired by Rapunzel and Aerith Gainsborough. I love love love Rapunzel and her spunky and adventurous personality and I wanted to give that to Casali. Aerith I loved that she's a florist, a bit flirty, and sympathetic with people. I took that and gave it to Casali. Not to mention both girls will take anything you can find in a kitchen and beat people up with it. It inspired an idea I have for one of the first times Casali is caught up with one of Din's fights.
Aria was inspired because I love mermaids and The Little Mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies. I also love the idea of pirates and mermaids as a pairing and was so excited to see Ariel show up in Once Upon a Time when I had watched it. I thought she was going to be paired with Hook, but that didn't happen. So I decided to make Ariel's daughter and pair her with Hook's son!
Yuriko I got inspiration from Hadestown. I found that musical and fell in love with it immediately, also it's amazing live!! So I decided I wanted Yuriko to be a musical theater person.
🎤fave line in a fic you wrote?
Oh god, how dare you. I have absolutely no idea.
I did enjoy this line from my Descendants fic. Not necessarily a line, but I liked this a lot.
“Red hair like yours,” he began, raising his hook and running it against her hair, causing a shiver to run down the princess’ spine, “anyone would be able to spot you from a mile away.” His grin got bigger as he stared into her eyes. “You must be a little mermaid,” Harry sneered, “Uma will love meeting you.”

Winner’s Curse: Epilogue
Note: Wooo boy, it’s over. Now I know not many people may have read this, it may not have the best editing and some parts are a bit vague and not the best. In fact I’ll probably revise some parts at a later date or if I ever decide to post on A03, but I am still super proud of it. I think I did some great character parts and there are some sections that I’m just super proud of. I’m also happy that I actually finished it. It’s my longest fic to date and I actually completed it! 30 chapters. Well 32 if you include the prologue and epilogue. So cool! Plus I wrote what I really wanted, which I’ll admit was not the plot. The plot was a bit wonky and maybe I had too many characters that I didn’t juggle well and didn’t give them all equal exploration. Also action scenes were hard for me to write so those were not the best. But still- getting to explore these characters and their relationships and include several of my favorite Disney characters. Very fun. Also thanks to @edream93 for encouraging me when this was just a little idea, looking over some sections and offering advice and for overall being an amazing person. Check out her WLTF and other descendants fics like London Fog Nightcaps. And for the final time, hope y’all enjoy reading.
Flash forward to summer break in Agrabah
Jordan stretched, cracking her back after sitting hunched at her desk for the past hour editing her latest video How to Date a Djinn Episode 3. She had finally convinced the tech-averse Calix to join her in making satire videos of all the most terrible dates she had been on. Initially, she had planned for it to be a serious thing where she reminded her viewers of genie autonomy and the idea they had feelings behind their wishing powers, but Calix was never good at playing emotional PSAs.
Besides it was more fun that way to spoof how terrible, and sometimes ridiculous her romantic suitors were. Plus the hilarity kept her from thinking too much about the bitterness of the memories.
She cracked her neck and poofed outside to Aziz’s room where her lamp laid on its usual perch. Outside she could hear the thump of running feet and the screech of confused peacocks.
“Malik! No riding the peacocks!” A servant shouted
“Yes, riding peacocks!”
“No, Noor, Fahran, that’s not allowed. Get off of them!”
Jordan shook her head in amusement at the kids' antics.
Noor and Fahran were having a blast hanging out with their new “little” brother as they called the 5 year old. Though they were family in a way. Jade was the half sister to Aladdin’s half brother, Mozonroth. And Malik was their nephew. Even though the family tree was a bit tangled and confusing to visualize in your head.
And where Jade and Malik were concerned, Jay was also included as Aladdin had originally planned in inviting the former thief to Agrabah so they could get to know each other, and Jay, to get in touch with the more savory side of his heritage. Jay and Aladdin had especially hit off as they compared lives on the streets and bragged about some of their more daring heists so any concern of whether the Jafar connection would sour things was gone. All together, Jay, Jade and Malik were new, though unofficial members of the family. Aladdin, and Jasmine decided to hold off any official adoption in respect to Jay and Jade’s feelings.
Though, having three new members meant triple the chaos, the running in the halls and inevitable breaking of antique objects. It was still triple the fun.
Razoul, predictably, despised the decision. But hey, he wasn’t the sultan.
Jordan peeked out to the hall, no sign of peacock racing or frazzled servants anywhere. Since she’d been inside so long she decided to go outside to the backyard.
Passing the living room, she saw Jay playing some sort of Wii-fit game against Carlos, Lonnie and Gil whose scores were also reflected on the screen even as they played millions of miles away in their own living rooms. Jordan checked the time, ah it was 2’o clock on the doubt. Jay always called his friends at this time since it was when the time zones converged suitably for all of them to chat.
Jade was lounging on the couch, facetiming her girlfriend, Yzla. Jordan waved, and Jade waved in return, focusing mainly on their conversation which involved some llama prank with Empress Malina. Yzla was staying with Emperor Kuzco and his family. A arrangement Kuzco had initially been against but his wife and son overruled him. Which was for the best because apparently Yzla and him were hitting it off like two peas in a pod, scaring Malina, by tricking her into thinking Kuzco had changed into a llama again.
Huh, that reminded her, she hadn’t checked social media in a few hours. So she scrolled through, looking at Ben’s new post that there was to be a new class in the fall. Magic 101 with Flora, Fauna and Merrywhether and many surprise guest lecturers.
The Magic 101 class had been one of Uma’s many ideas for the new and improved Auradon. She told Ben of Alexandria’s reasoning for the revolt, explaining that the pressure for magic creatures to deny their magic was a strong reason for resentment, and most importantly, unfair. And Ben, who had been present at several meetings where mermaids, fairies and others stated their petitions of complaints, agreed. King Ben had removed the magic ban and decided to institute the Magic 101 class. Contrary to the name, the class wasn’t for magical beings, they already knew how to deal with their powers and not use them to affect others or supposedly cheat at life. The class was a requirement for Auradonians to learn about their fellow beings, how it was a vital part of them and the greater natural world.
Ben had actually suggested that she’d be the magical liaison and teacher assistant for the new Magic 101 classes but she had politely declined. She did accept going as a demonstrator whenever it was time for her Dad’s guest lecture.
But a fulltime TA? It sounded like too much work, her powers were not applicable to the greater magical population, and most importantly, she really wanted to get back to doing her auratube show. Especially now that she was bound to have so many new subscribers thanks to her newfound fame for helping to defeat the Coven.
Jordan had considered doing a series about the Isle mission against the Coven in order to get the story straight and not create too wild legends regarding their month and a half there. And okay, there was also the fact that she wanted to renew her hits after losing subscribers after not posting for a month.
But she ultimately decided not to. It was their mission, only they’d get what happened in that wild untamed place of evil and poverty. Besides, it was very personal and she didn’t want to have to go into her fights with Aziz and Jay on Auratube. Or her encounter with Antiquam.
No she’d rather not think about the latter for a very long time.
Dismissing those thoughts she scrolled through several more posted announcements like the newly formed Minority Kingdom Council made up of representatives from Atlantis, Atlantica, Arrendelle, Kuzcoropia, and Pydrian, who were overrun by environmental and tourism concerns as Alexandria brought up. There was also a new class of Vks that were coming in. Basically the teen population of the Isle.
The orphans and kids from the Isle were sent to boarding elementary schools around Auradon as well as foster care with professional trained therapists for the abused youngsters.
Ben’s decision to bring the whole teen population in had been a controversial one. But he had stood by it, stating that he was taking the advice of his people, the ones from his generation who were to make up the future generation and a schoolwide vote had agreed that the Vks should be let in.
Granted it had taken a two month lobbying campaign led by Mal and Evie with Lonnie, Carlos, Jane and Jay’s help. But they did, they persuaded lots of royal kids that it was better to bring Vks over. It also helped that Mal, Jay, Evie, Carlos and Uma had been pronounced Auradon’s saviors thrice in a row so…
Though it wouldn’t be until August that all the Vks, with a few exceptions like the resolutely bad CJ Hook and Prince Lars, and Antiquam, would be able to get to Auradon. But they would, Uma was making sure of it. Even Zevon and Ginny were coming despite their actions in proudly helping the Coven, Ben believed they just needed to be removed from the negative influences of their mothers.
Some Vks had already come over like Carlos’ cousin. Diego had refused to enter the VK program through school, but through the work progrm. Now he and his band, Rotten Apples, could introduce Isle grunge rock to Auradon’s farmer populations and inspire them to use music to express themselves. Carlos informed them that Diego wasn’t too into that inspiration and empowerment stuff, but he was loving the popularity. And he often crashed to the Radcliff house to catch up with Carlos and get a break from his adoring fans.
Harriet Hook, also in the work program, was working in Neverland, serving as guard for docks and a pretty mean one too, Jordan heard. Any tourist that tried to sneak
Not that everyone was residing in the homes of their parents’ enemies. Celia Facilier was living with her sister Freddie, and Freddie’s girlfriend, Ally at the Mad for Tea Shop. Also as a student by day and helping her sister as the evening entertainment at night. Singing only. FG was still wary of introducing such sketchy magic as card readings. Celia did choose to be a TA to her sister’s class, Goodness 101. Freddie was taking over for FG to make it a revamped, less patronizing seminar of how to act in Auradon with Ally popping in for politeness lessons and Carlos with therapy dogs. Though FG still stayed in the room to supervise and make sure the class stayed on track and not turn into “Everything that’s wrong about sappy sweet Auradon.”
Dizzy was reunited with her mother, her aunt Anastasia, her uncle, the Baker and Anthony Tremine and they lived in the faculty building of Auradon Prep. Easy for Anthony and Dizzy to get to school and for the Baker to go to his new job as school cook.
His baguettes were to die for, so flaky and crispy. Even Chad reluctantly agreed to their goodness when she interviewed him for student reactions to the new cook. Anastasia and Drizella were the new cosmeticians in training at the school’s day spa even though the two still argued over what was a better color and such.
Also working in Auradon’s kitchen were Gil, and Cosette’s mothers who had taken in their other’s sister’s sons, Gaston Jr, Gaston the Third and Gaston (IV) the Great. Their mother had been deemed just as abusive as Gaston and was to stay on the Isle with him. Gil had been nervous about living with his brothers again but he had Cosette by his side and Harry and Uma just a street away. Harry was just as fiercely loyal as ever to his crew and to Uma, who he’d wait for outside of Ben’s office, waiting for their meetings to end.
Gil also had Jay on his side. And though Jordan had absolutely no proof, she just felt something between them, and she was planning to use this summer to sniff out just what it was.
It had been more controversial to bring back some adult villains like Anastasia and Circe, but Ben had explained that he was not in the business of tearing families apart and adults were able to change too. Smee, for instance, wanted to retire from swabbing desks and wanted his second act in life to follow his lifelong dream. Be a clockmaker, ironically enough considering his boss’ fear of the ticking. Same with other low level henchmen like Jace and Harry, and Hun soldiers that had been following the battle orders and propaganda Shan Yu had fed them.
Ben had promised not all adults would come over, especially not ones that had abused their children, and that he, Mal and Uma were designing a careful vetting process for this program.
As for the Auradonian bred villains. Morgana and Morgaine hadn’t stayed in the dungeon for long. One day the guards had come down to give their food and they were just gone. No one knew where they went and no magic had been able to locate them. Merlin said it was no use trying. The Le Feys were tricky and wouldn’t reappear again unless they wanted to.
Kyro, Victoria and Alexandria were in therapy now in a new building away from the dorms and those who would shun them for their actions like the media that had reviled them when the news leaked out. It was a bit of a depressing building Jordan thought since one could see it if they leaned far out their windows. The outside of it looked like an insane asylum but Evie enthused about how open- aired and peaceful it was inside. The point of it was to clear the outside world, and focus on healing. What’s more, since Uma learned of FG’s somewhat oblivious and condescending advice from Alexandria, they hired a new counselor. A Dr. Mickey Mouse.
So yeah, things seemed to wrapping out into a happily ever after for all.
Jordan walked into a door, rubbing her head of the bruise and cursing herself for not looking up. Tucking the phone in her pocket, she was about to open the door when Aziz opened it for her, heading inside from hanging out on the hammock.
He didn’t even look at her as he entered, he was busy chatting on the phone with who else, his new girlfriend.
Aziz had stayed true to his word that he and Lala were just friends, and remained just friends for three months. It had irritated Jordan to no end to watch them sneak discreet looks, study together since Lala only knew the Atlantean alphabet and not the English, and dance around their feelings as if the obvious wasn’t there. And it took all her self control to honor her vow to not meddle and send a flying carpet in to speed things up.
At least Aziz did not shut her out completely and still went to her advice for what to do when he asked her to be his girlfriend.
“What if she says no? Or doesn’t know what that is. Jay did say it was only gang activity. Or maybe she’ll just say no because she thinks she’ll go crazy like her mom. But I really want her to say yes. Oh Allah, what if I mess it up instead by acting like an idiot. Or she already thinks that. I walked into a wall yesterday.”
“Aziz, she likes you,” Jordan reassured him, “I’ve seen the way she looks at you. Like a leopard with dinner, she totally wants to eat you. In a sexy, hungry with desire way. Not cannibal way. And really, walking into a wall? That’s not a dealbreaker or even embarrassing. If you want to talk about embarrassing, nothing can top the time you popped in front of that yoga instructor you were trying to impress.” “I had food poisoning from the oysters!” Aziz yelled indiginantly.
“Doesn’t change the fact that you shitted during downward dog,” Jordan smirked at Aziz’s flustered angry face, “Nor was it like that time when you tried to impress Anxlin with a butterfly knife and ended up-”
“Will you stop bringing up the past?” Jordan decided to change tactics and be the serious, comforting big sister that he wanted, “Just speak from the heart. You’re on the same page with so many things, and you talk so much. Sooo much, it’s kinda annoying. Especially when you’re yapping in my room when I’m trying to watch a movie. But anyway, I think when the time comes your heart will guide you to say the right thing. And if not… your lips can speak for you.”
So with that fabulous advice if Jordan said so herself, on the last day of school, before they went their separate ways for vacation. Aziz went to her room and asked her.
And while she said she wouldn’t meddle, Jordan totally turned into a bee to go through the keyhole and eavesdrop on their conversation. For moral support. Just Aziz didn’t know about it.
It was endearingly awkward as Aziz stammered through some rambling monologue of how he liked her a lot, and only if she was okay with it, but he really thought they had something so woud she maybe consider being his girlfriend.
Aziz should probably have gotten some lessons from Jay on the art of smooth, but Lala seemed to get it. “So if we’re in a relationship we do what we do now… but with kissing?” she clarified.
“Yes!” Aziz agreed eagerly, then tried to dial down his excitement, “I mean sure, if you want.”
“I would really like that,” Lala bit her lip nervously but her expression was hopefully as Aziz leaned in.
Their kiss was short, two seconds at the most. Jordan would have given it a three out of five. It was unsure and the two seemed to be surprised they even did it. But it was clear from the look in their eyes, that they only saw each other and the rest of the world was already fading away for them, that that small kiss was perfect to them.
So they kissed again. Much more purposefully this time. Oh Allah, Jordan was so proud when Aziz added some passion and slipped tongue first. He was really growing up.
And they kissed again, and again and soon they were making out on Lala’s bed, which was starting to get kinda gross and Jordan was feeling weird about watching them. So she took that as her cue to leave.
But now she had plenty of new things to annoy Aziz about so she took it as a plus.
Grabbing him by the arm to stop, Jordan grabbed his camera.
“Hi, Lala, how are you?” Jordan waved, mugging for the camera as Aziz grabbed it back, and tried to push her out of the frame. The white-haired girl was dressed up in Evie’s new line of summer clothes with her hair up in a bun, and most startingly, her brown eyes were human.
It was silly that Jordan was surprised by Lala’s human eyes, she had been the one to change them when in a burst of good will offered all their allies on the adventure a wish. Lala hadn’t used the offered three wishes, just one, which was to remove the leopard spell Queen La had put on her. She lost her cat eyes and the habit of walking on all fours, but she still had her cat-like grace which Jordan chalked up to natural ability. It had been three months since that wish, but she had been so used to Lala’s cat-like slits with the dilated pupils. It had been a unique marker like the scar that everyone could see on Lala’s leg when she wore shorts.
“I’m well. Aziz sent me your new vlog about Odiferous, it was very interesting.” Lala nodded curtly. Jordan knew Lala was usually guarded against everyone so the coldness didn’t bother her as much as it used to. Thanks to hanging out with Aziz and Jade, she was starting to slowly warm up to people she wasn’t close to even though her tone didn’t reflect it.
“How are the Porters?” Jordan asked, cutting off whatever Aziz was about to say next. He glared at her, but she ignored. Hey, she said she’d stop mothering him. So now it was back to  annoying big sister privileges.
“They’re well. Kerchak and I are going tree surfing tomorrow.” Lala answered. When Ben put up the invitation of Vks in need of foster homes or adoptive families, the Porters offered to take in Clay Clayton, and Lala. Clay refused and went with his Aunt, Lady Waltham who was thrilled to meet her surly nephew for the first time. Lala joined the Porters where she was helping their gorilla reserve, connecting with animals instead of hunting them for food and survival.
It was bound to be awkward considering their daughter’s actions, but Auradon seemed to consider it part of their penance even though they hadn’t known what Victoria had planned to wrought. But according to Lala, they did their best to skirt around that sensitive issue and treat her like a guest, and she was starting to befriend Kerchak. He even gave her a leopard of her own which she named Euware II though the pet made Tarzan a bit wary. Still, Lala had to stay in her room on weekends when Victoria visited from therapy.
“That’s great. When are you coming to visit? I know Jade is just dying for you to visit. It’d be fun. We can go sand surfing, oh and explore some of the caves under the citadel. Oh, oh and I just know Aziz wants to show you some of the secret alcoves in the palace. They’re great for making out and-” “Go away!” Aziz waved her off
“You want me to leave? But who will chaperon you two? Who will tell Lala all the embarrassing stories from your childhood? I’ve been holding onto blackmail for a reason, Aziz. I must tell her,” Jordan turned to the screen, “But seriously, come visit. I’ll leave you to it.”
“Thank you!” Aziz sighed in exasperation, “Give me 5 minutes, I’ll join you to go to the bazaar later, Jord.”
“See ya!” Jordan called over the shoulder as she headed to the palace kitchen, still hearing some snippets of Aziz’s conversation about his summer psychology classes. His new passion since Jordan had suggested that since he liked overanalyzing and counselling other people's problems, he could research into being a psychologist.
Upon reaching the outside, Jordan took a big breath of the sweet summer air with a hint of jasmine and the coconut and sighed.
Life was good.
Of course, life was always good when it was summer vacation but it was more than that. She had really committed to what she had learned on the Isle. She lived in the present now, and tried not to wallow in the anger and resentment that extended to almost every human she met.
Did that kind of positive mindset always work? Hell no, sometimes, someone would grab her arm, requesting for a wish, rubbing her jacket as if that was the lamp and not her. Yeah, that stupid event would irritate her all morning but she didn’t go into her spiral of how all humans were greedy monsters, her life sucked that she had to walk among them and so on and so forth. She learned to vent to Aziz and let it go.
She would always meet bad people in her life, when that happened, if the situation was appropriate, she would blow a mini sandstorm in their face and move on.
She’d also gotten more sensitive about complaining about humanity in front of Aziz. She tried to complain of an individual person and not make broad generalizations about the mortal race, and repeat that Aziz and his family were the exception.
Well Aladdin’s family, and Uma, and Jay, and Lonnie, and Calix and Ben, and she was starting to realize her circle of those she trusted was expanding.
It felt good to have that knowledge.
Even if Aziz might not always be there, though she’d kill him if he wasn’t, she still had others who cared about her.
Then again, she, Calix, Aziz, Jay and Uma had been through a harrowing adventure that nearly destroyed the world they knew, and had to face their greatest fears and insecurities to do so. If that didn’t make you trust a person, what would?
There were also her parents. Her parents always had her back.
That was another thing she’d been committed to doing since she got back from the Isle and saved Auradon.
Her parents had been the first ones to get there, magical teleportation after all and were laying out the blue carpet and making plans for the greatest party in all of Agrabah for their daughter, the hero. Instead of getting annoyed by their zany antics as usual, and annoyed at how they ignored the fact she faced possibly life-ending danger against their enemies, she just hugged them.
The act had clearly surprised them because both of their jaws broke off and fell to the floor before snapping back up like a ball. But they loved the change in her nonetheless.
Ever since then, she’d been going out with them every other weekend, be it ice skating on Saturn’s rings or clubbing or going out to drink in celebration of the banning of the Magic Ban.
She had thought for so long that if she let herself act even a little bit like them, she’d be signing herself to a fate of servitude, never being taken seriously, and becoming a negligent oblivious person who only wanted to focus on fun.
She had worried that if these things didn’t come naturally to her, she’d have to fake it in order to fit in and be palatable to her own parents. So they wouldn’t become bored with her. She hadn’t liked thinking about it, but she always felt that was the underlying reason they left her.
But she lived in the present now and shoved all those thoughts away. She did what she wanted without thinking of the implications. And she found that actively listening to what they were saying, how they constantly suggested ideas for their next adventure, how it was too bad she had school and couldn’t come with them to their trip. They didn’t think she was a damper on their party style, they wanted her to be with them. And she usually said to each invitation.
YOLO, right. Well more like YOLFSMAWEI.
(You Only Live Forever So Might As Well Enjoy It. Not as catchy but infinitely more accurate)
Family time was a lot more enjoyable that way instead of brooding that once it was over, they were going to forget about her and go about their lives as if they didn’t have a daughter.
Although, Jordan still did crave for a meaningful talk where she got to tell them about some of her issues with their lack of parenting oversight, and maybe delve into how abandoned she felt when they wouldn’t discuss such issues like her rape, they still weren’t ready for that.
Though Aladdin was talking to her dad on her behalf, and it seemed he was starting to soften to it.
Until then, she had two sets of parents. Aladdin and Jasmine, probably the first humans who she trusted, and respected. The first ones who saw her as a child and not a being for wishes. They gave her the love and attention she had craved when she needed it. They stood by treating her like everyone else, as she wished, even when it meant disregarding her excuses that her genie-ness exempted her from getting in trouble. They were always present her lives and were the ones that reminded her that her supposed fate was not a fate, that no one could shackle her, not unless they went through them. They encouraged that there other sides to her besides being a genie. That she should work hard, be kind, be honest and be independent.
Her mom and dad, who loved her with all their hearts and thought of her as their best friend. It wasn’t the most parental relationship but she had started to accept that it would never be. They were genie parents, not human ones, and it was finally sinking in that the rules would always be different from them. No matter that Jordan looked human and was raised by them. But that’s what made them special. No one else in the world would get her quite like her mom and dad.
Aziz opened the door, knocking her in the back and she moved over so he could wait beside her.
She checked her phone. Her parents were supposed to come here five minutes ago so they culd go to the bazaar together.
They probably weren’t going to come for another twenty minutes.
Ah genies, Jordan sighed, they were never going to be punctual. She wondered how many years it would be before she started viewing time as an unimportant mortal construct.
She was about to pose that question to Aziz, whether it would occur in his lifetime or in her 5,000s when a green and blue poof popped up in front of them.
“We’re here!” The two blew the smoke away to reveal the pair in matching red and white striped tuxedos with a blinking “Genie and Eden” sign hanging behind them.
“It’s Genie and Eden!” Eden announced
“Eden and Genie!” Genie intoned.
Then with a snap of a finger, the props and costumes disappeared, and Genie sat thoughtfully in the air, “We can’t quite choose which sounds better.”
Eden went back to a form-fitting black leotard with a black bowler hat, smoking a cigar in her best Liza Minelli voice, “Whaddya think, daughter dear, whaddya think?”
“I think we should go to the bazaar and have the people decide which is better.” Jordan suggested, knowing that if they did it here, they wouldn’t leave.
“By george, she’s right!” Genie exclaimed transforming into a nerdy account, “Statistically, it is always better to test things with a test audience, and according to my calculations that the Agrabah bazaar has the best cross-pool of audience with 10% bearded, 40% kids..” He transformed into his usually big blue self, “Aaand let’s get outta here!”
“Wait up!” Jay yelled, nearly running into the four of them with Jade at his side, “I wanna go to the bazaar too, there was that awesome scimir I wanted to buy.” “Yeah me too, I want to steal things too… I-I mean buy. Buy with money. That I did not steal from the mean guard.” “His name is Razoul, and you really shouldn’t. He already doesn’t like you.” Aziz shook his head.
“I don’t like him, and that’s what makes it so tempting.” Jade defended.
“Yeah, he kinda has it coming,” Jay agreed.
“Now, now, we won’t say anything about it. But you must stop,” Eden warned in a prim British accent, poofing into a blue serge suit like a certain famous nanny, “Now spit spot, hurry up, we don’t want to be late to the bazaar.”
Genie transformed into a Bert to his wife’s Mary Poppins, adding, “Come ‘ere ye kiddos and ‘urry it ‘up.”
Jay and Jade stared at each in the classic “What the hell?” expression that bystanders always had whereas her parents were concerned. Aziz and Jordan just shrugged and smiled.
And so they went off to the bazaar and as the sun beated down on them, and Jordan whipped up a hijab from air to keep off the heat, she hummed a familiar tune which Aziz and her dad easily picked up.
“As you wind through the streets at the fabled bazaars with the cardamom-cluttered stalls. You can smell every spice while you haggle the price of the silks and the satin shawls. Oh, the music that plays as you move through a maze in the haze of your pure delight. You are caught in a dance. You are lost in the trance of another Arabian night…”

When it was announced that The Rosie O'Donnell Show would be back for one night only with a guest list of about 15 million Broadway talents, many of us wondered, would it be a return to the glory days of her multiple Emmy-winning daytime talk show or more like her ill-fated attempt to resuscitate the primetime variety format on NBC in 2008. It turned out to borrow from both those predecessors while evolving into something completely different — a low-tech lovefest that felt like eavesdropping on a group chat among friends looking out for one another in a time of need.
It was spontaneous, messy and blighted by some of the worst audio glitches imaginable. Yet it was often affectingly intimate, and even over an endurance-testing three-and-a-half commercial-free hours, also strangely addictive. The lack of slickness seemed to carry through to the relaxed manner of the guests, and their refreshing unpretentiousness.
Conceived by actor-producer (and occasional tech-support helpmate) Erich Bergen and live-streamed on Broadway.com and the website's YouTube channel, the show was a benefit for The Actors Fund, the charitable organization founded in 1882 that supports performers and behind-the-scenes theater workers. It raised more than half-a-million dollars, O'Donnell announced at the end of the marathon, sitting in a Hamilton hoodie and offering a champagne toast in a glass emblazoned with the face of Barbra Streisand.
She conducted the entire show from behind a laptop in her New Jersey garage, its floor spattered with the paint spillage of countless craft projects. "I'm a little bit of a Broadway nerd, I admit it," said O'Donnell, establishing her dual role as host and superfan.
Part of the show's unique pleasure was seeing favorite Broadway performers chilling in their own homes, almost all of them dressed down, with little visible attention to makeup or hair, and zero concern about unflattering angles. It was a great equalizer, proving that even artists who can hold packed theaters in the palm of their hands with a song are housebound and trying to make the best of a bad situation just like the rest of us — staying close to their families, killing time, learning to cook, wondering how long this unnerving isolation will last. Or how much longer we can put off that shower.
It was kind of comforting to see Idina Menzel sitting by her microwave and confessing, "I guess I'm going a little bonkers," while lamenting a failed lasagna attempt and sharing the challenges of homeschooling her son when she's no math genius. Likewise, hearing Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker talk about watching Columbo reruns or catching up on The Crown, while SJP begged for no spoilers on the final episode of The Sopranos, which she may now get to at last. Seeing Annette Bening on her Los Angeles balcony wearing a "Make America Kind Again" baseball cap was as much a tonic as watching Neil Patrick Harris do a card trick with his adorable twins. And who doesn't want to meet Gloria and Emilio Estefan's cute rescue dogs or hear about Lin-Manuel Miranda's kids' reaction to their first exposure to Singin' in the Rain?
Then there were the musical interludes.
Where else could you catch Patti LuPone, in magnificent voice, singing the urgently upbeat 1930s standard "A Hundred Years From Today," unaccompanied while sitting by the jukebox in her basement? Or Kelli O'Hara nestled into an armchair honoring Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday by wrapping her crystalline soprano around "Take Me to the World," a hymn to unity from Evening Primrose? Or husband and wife Audra McDonald and Will Swenson duetting on the Charlie Chaplin evergreen, "Smile," from their Westchester living room? Or Darren Criss pouring his heart into another Sondheim classic about the desire for connection, "Being Alive," from Company, accompanying himself in a lovely pop arrangement on acoustic guitar from the sofa of his Los Angeles home? And while sound problems plagued Barry Manilow's selection of hits, ending with "I Made It Through the Rain," I was tickled to see his Judy Garland Kleenex dispenser.
Many of the song choices were thoughtfully apropos of the current crisis, offering comforting reassurance of the eventual return of resilience and togetherness while people in major cities all over the country self-isolate as the infection rate of the coronavirus pandemic continues to climb. Maybe Tituss Burgess at his home keyboard singing "The Glory of Love" is exactly the kind of uplift we all need right now.
Even in the seemingly random numbers, the entire enterprise was characterized by a spirit of generosity and sharing.
Kristin Chenoweth celebrated a Starbucks romance in "Taylor the Latte Boy." Matthew Morrison goofed it up on ukulele to a mashup of "The Bare Necessities" and "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" from his Disney Dreamin' album. Alan Menken whipped through a medley of his songs from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Little Shop of Horrors, among others, at the piano. Ben Platt, also at the keyboard, did Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love." And Adrienne Warren, the sensational star of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, growled out "Simply the Best" from her bathtub. That was on the third attempt during a particularly troublesome audio patch, by which time her bubbles were history.
Prompted by O'Donnell, more than one guest reminded viewers that The Actors Fund is not just about Broadway artists pulling star salaries but also stagehands, makeup artists, wigmakers and ushers who work in what is very much a gig economy. The organization provides emergency financial assistance, social services, affordable housing, healthcare and insurance counseling and addiction support.
"Everything's a one-off," said Tony-winning actor Brian Stokes Mitchell, who serves as chairman of The Actors Fund. "That's how we get by, and many people are living on the edge right now."
"We're all just one, two, maybe three paychecks away from bankruptcy," added Billy Porter, whose mother is in an Actors Fund nursing home. "In this community, our whole job description is insecurity," said Judith Light.
Porter, along with Lea Salonga and longtime activist Light recalled how Broadway was on the frontlines of another life-threatening struggle during the early days of the AIDS crisis. All of them urged viewers to stay strong and take the time to reflect on the value of solidarity.
While O'Donnell has never been shy about her opposition to Donald Trump and everything he stands for, the show was remarkably light on politics, with just the occasional dig slipping through. She opened with a little celebratory "Yay!" while admitting she had missed the president's daily coronavirus press update, and then explained that she and her guests were not there to talk Trump. When Harvey Fierstein, O'Donnell's 2005 stage husband in Fiddler on the Roof, reminded her of all the election work still to be done, she said, "Let's all just know, we deserve a leader who tells the truth." And the delays in making coronavirus testing more widely available prompted a comment that the government should have gotten busy on that back in January when the writing was already on the wall.
Mostly, however, the hastily revamped Rosie O'Donnell Show was about bringing people together at this time of anxiety and isolation, as the host reconnected with artists whom she has championed since her reign as the Queen of Nice. "Everyone in the community loves you," she told Chita Rivera in a particularly effusive greeting. "You are our queen mother!"
Many of the performers would have been decompressing after rehearsals or Sunday matinees if the Broadway shutdown hadn't happened — Criss in American Buffalo, Broderick and Parker in Plaza Suite, Warren in Tina, Lauren Patten and Elizabeth Stanley in Jagged Little Pill. Sunday would have been LuPone's opening night in the gender-flipped revival of Company. Gavin Creel, who abruptly ended his London run in Waitress to fly home and is in isolation in a cabin in upstate New York, revealed the fear that he might have contracted the virus, given that several others in the cast have fallen ill, with one of them testing positive.
The show bridged the gap separating us from artists whose work we normally experience on the other side of the footlights. Most of us will never again get to see Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber exchange greetings in song on the birthday the two composers happen to share. From those celebrated veterans to rising-star newbies, the common denominator here was everybody facing the crisis just like us, reaching out a hand of friendship, albeit from a mandatory safe distance.

Things I would love in an Oracle of Ages & Seasons remake:
Make the transformation rings have attacks (If you equip the seed shooter/slingshot, the Octo Ring lets you fire Seeds, use the Boomerang as a Subrosian, etc) and use basic items (Roc’s Feather and Pegasus seeds) to get around the overworld. The First Gen Ring would simply allow you to use any weapon and be entirely cosmetic.
Also add more fun ones like a Tokay Ring or Sea Zora Ring. Maybe a GB Ring that makes Link be in the original GB sprite and work like the Gen Ring’s changes above.
Revamp the Hero’s Cave to have even harder additional levels that let you use the other game’s weapons in conjunction with the current game’s items, which lets you use them outside of the cave. (ex: You need Switch Hook L-2 to get and use Roc’s Cape as both are Level 7 items)
Make the Bombchus actually useful or just get rid of them.
Hero Mode that starts you off with the Cursed Ring’s (half sword damage and double taken damage) functions permanently, and wearing the actual ring further makes you weaker for an even harder challenge. The mode would also give you the Fist/Expert Ring at the start in case you want to make it harder in another way.
Give some of the more useless Rings fun little changes, like wearing the Friendship Ring causes Maple to have nicer dialogue. The Slayer’s Ring could make weaker enemies avoid you and stronger enemies more aggressive.
Give Farore a bigger role, assuming they don’t manage to make the scrapped 3rd game with her.
An explanation for Dimitri being a Dodongo who is friendly, can talk, and swims, especially because there’s a normal Dodongo boss in Season’s second dungeon.
Revamp the Mermaid Suit’s controls, the Flippers’ controls are just better tbh.

catch me fighting this dollmaker for good skintones for an HOUR. anyway.
I’ve desperately needed to redesign (and rewrite the descriptions for) the cursebreaker kids for a while, and actually...design poor harp....anyway. Hopefully once i get my wordpress revamped i can write stuff for these guys!!!!
Under the cut WE GOT more detailed info and some pronouns and shit. Hell yeah. it is 11:30 pm and boy does it show.
Sunshine (formerly known as Princess Corona Alexandrite V) (she/her)
Fairytale basis: Sleeping Beauty
Curse: To sleep for 100 years, until her true love’s kiss wakes her up. Do you see the problem here. Do you see the problem here.
Price of Curse Breaking: Can no longer sleep.
SUNSHINE my gal. My girl. The former POV protag but still nominal leader of this group for some reason. If her name evokes Big Self-Chosen Name feelings that’s cause that’s exactly what happened. Having been forcibly woken after about two centuries of cursed slumber to a ruined kingdom, Sunshine here is...a little confused. She should have been woken up by true love’s kiss, but she doesn’t really feel much at all for Jack, the curse breaker slash her new employer, but he still must be her true love, right? Not to mention all the modern nonsense, and her kingdom being utterly destroyed... With a kind heart and an interesting way of viewing the world around her, she’s hard to dislike. She’s just....clueless.
Ripple (formerly Princet ?????? of ???????????) (they/them)
Fairytale Basis: The Frog Prince
Curse: Stuck as a frog forever, until they lay “one webbed foot” on their soulmate. You see the problem here, too? This one was intentional.
Price of Curse Breaking: Water is no longer their friend. Do not put Ripple in water.
Ripple! Actual POV protag and total shithead, at least at first. Ripple here had the misfortune of pissing off a river nymph, who retaliated with Immortal Frog Curse. They spent about 500 years like this, so long that they ultimately forgot their name, where they came from...in the end, relying on their newfound fairy friends to give them a new name. At the end of it all, they had actually grown used to their froggy form, so Jack bein like “hey bro your curse is broken” is...unpleasant. They’re a bit of a know-it-all, a bit on the childish side, but their main problem is that they just have no clue how people work.
Ivy (just...Ivy.) (she/her)
Fairytale Basis: The Princess and the Pea...or more specifically, the musical Once Upon A Mattress, at least as far as the backstory is concerned.
Curse: To wander the world in a thoughtless daze, until the empress who cursed her no longer rules the land. And since that empress is a mermaid who naturally lives longer, well, Ivy’s shit outta luck.
Price of Curse Breaking: Cannot keep a SINGLE pertinent thought to herself. If she has something to say about a person or situation, she is forced to say it, no matter how bad this makes things.
Ivy! Arguably the most competent person in the group! Ivy just wanted to fulfill whatever role her ancestor (supposedly a sorcerer princess who’d been overthrown and exiled by a mermaid empress, or something like that) had in mind for her, but unfortunately the empress had other plans in mind. Stubborn and more than a bit hotheaded, Ivy might actually have it the worst off in terms of the price of Jack’s services, but she’ll make do. Somehow. If she doesn’t piss everyone else off first.
Harp (who the hell knows what they were doin before this.) (they/them)
Fairytale Basis: ?????
Curse: who knows, assuming they have one at all??
Harp is...kind of Jack’s secretary, staying behind and monitoring our Cursebreakers while they embark on whatever adventures Jack sends them on...until the trio insist on bringing them along. Harp’s painfully nervous, and it takes more than a bit to get them to warm up to the rest of the group. Never spotted (except...in these designs.......) without their cloak, which functions almost as a sort of security blanket?
