OH MY GOD THE SEA SHANTY IS ABOUT AARAVOS
Woe to the man, the dark-eyed sailor
Ship’s adrift, and the sea’s his jailor
Drag him down,
Down, down, down
Down in the wicked depths below

Love that our main characters now have the prison of Aaravos, the key of Aaravos, and a person who Aaravos has demonstrated he can control and puppeteer. Love that the main gang has collected all of those things into one place. Love that for them. I can’t possibly imagine how this might end very very badly for them at all

I haven't seen enough appreciation specifically for that one scene where Finnegrin threatens to cut off the hand of whoever stole his glow toads and everyone immediately tries to get him to pick them over the others in like... the most them way possible. Ezran immediately trying to do the selfless thing, Rayla showing her dark humor, Soren just advertising his hand because he knows his worth, and Villads immediately joining in and making the best of it. They're all so ride-or-die and it was kind of delightful how genuinely it confused Finnegrin

Idk about you guys but I think this season finally gave us more on an insight into Viren as a human and as a father rather than a villain and a dark mage like in the previous seasons.
Like, at least to me, back in the first season it gave me the impression he almost saw Soren as replazable, more like a subordinate and not his son. Like he wouldn't care about whether Soren came back from looking for the princes or not.
This time though, he's openly very affectionate with his vision of baby Soren. He explicitly said 'l love you too', played with him, and desperately said he'd do anything to bring him back when he thought he was gone.
It's almost like the villain, dark mage part of him died with him, and Claudia only brought back her and Soren's dad.
I 100% think Viren was a bitch before because the dark magic did currupt him down to his soul and not only his appearance. Claudia said it was like a reset when he came back, so maybe that's why he's acting like this now: He's back to being almost fully human, not a dark mage. And that's also why Claudia is going more and more off the deep end every single time she uses dark magic.
There's a price to dark magic, and I think it not only takes the life of the animals and insects used to conjure a spell. It takes a part of the user's own humanity too.
Edit just to say: maybe this is why Callum is so crossed about dark magic too. He's very intuitive, so it's not only that he thinks it's immoral, but when he did dark magic the first time he felt something shift and he knows it comes with a higher price than everyone thinks. Maybe that's also why he's not phased by the idea of killing Aaravos while Ezran looks horrified at the idea.

Well, we know where the symbol of Katolis comes from now👀
(That’s a ring of rocks that those statues are connected to, and we’re seeing it from the inside. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they happened to give us this inside shot of the crown just two episodes prior.)

I love how it’s the moment where Janai shows her wisdom and compassion as a leader (asking restitution of the architect in building a shrine rather than punishment in death) that her brother looses faith in her. It’s such good writing. Karim and Janai play out the theme of history as a narrative of strength vs love this season, with Karim representing strength as power, traditional and unyielding, and Janai representing strength as love and compassion. Amaya, Janai’s lover, calls for mercy. Karim, Janai’s brother, calls for vengeance. Janai walks a careful line, choosing mercy while still exacting justice. But Karim only sees weakness, only sees it as Janai turning her back on their ways. So this scene plays out the quote from season 2: “these moments of purest strength appear as weakness to those who don’t know better.” All Karim sees is weakness, because he doesn’t know better. But it is in this moment that Janai really begins to come into her own and shows the world what kind of queen she will be
