I love how it’s the moment where Janai shows her wisdom and compassion as a leader (asking restitution of the architect in building a shrine rather than punishment in death) that her brother looses faith in her. It’s such good writing. Karim and Janai play out the theme of history as a narrative of strength vs love this season, with Karim representing strength as power, traditional and unyielding, and Janai representing strength as love and compassion. Amaya, Janai’s lover, calls for mercy. Karim, Janai’s brother, calls for vengeance. Janai walks a careful line, choosing mercy while still exacting justice. But Karim only sees weakness, only sees it as Janai turning her back on their ways. So this scene plays out the quote from season 2: “these moments of purest strength appear as weakness to those who don’t know better.” All Karim sees is weakness, because he doesn’t know better. But it is in this moment that Janai really begins to come into her own and shows the world what kind of queen she will be

Bonding with Aunt Janai is going well! 👍

I hope that someday Callum and Ezran can take a vacation to the Banther Lodge again, but this time with more elves! Amaya is so happy to see Janai and her nephews getting along... but also not happy that Ezran left the house without a hat-

I wanna smooch her forehead. ;-;

I wanted to do some TDP fanart and had to stop myself before I just drew Viren or Aaravos again, so I went with homegirl who has what is, imo, one of the best character designs in the show.

Black women w/ gold motifs = me, sold, you should see how I reacted to Mel in Arcane. :')

I initially wanted to paint this, as the sketch was so pretty...but it was a double-edged sword. ;-; Nothing I did with colour brought it up to the standards of the sketch, and so it's been sitting in my WIPs for months, begging for liberation. ;-; Eventually decided to just go my usual cel-shading route and now I have a pretty Janai. ♥

I haven't been able to watch a ton of animated things over the last few years for a multitude of reasons (reason 1 being they're VERY distracting while I work, but I jumped back on the TDP train today and HERE ARE SOME DOODLES.

Listen, Aaravos has no RIGHT being…that way with THAT character design and also being that terrible. Horrible little bastard man (affectionate). Anyway, these are the ones who jumped out to me after my watch through so, enjoy XD

It's been a long time, but wow, they really fit my style ahaha XD
