Who Has the Best Media Digitization?
MEMORY KEEPING 101: DEFINE BEST Searching the Web The internet is a funny thing. We depend on it heavily and yet it has very limited capabilities – in part, because it depends mostly on numbers. Were you to ask it who offers the best media digitization available, you could get a lot of different answers, but chances are, you wouldn’t know what those results meant, because what is best? Is it…

Warning: I have some old cc. Some things, if you download them now, require batch fixes. Some things may even require manual fixing.
If you see something that you want to know about that's not on the list, send an ask. As of right now, everything not there should be from the game, but that could change. If it's build/buy, send an ask, because I'm trying to link significant things (in my opinion) that add to the story, but a lot of background things (while probably important) do fade into the background for me.
Also, the dress I can't find. If anyone knows where to get it, I'll link it if I can

I think the reason I’m single is because we no longer have video dating services. If I sat in front of an interviewer and talked about myself and other people who had trouble starting conversations in real life could watch me on their VCR, it would all be over for you nerds. I’d be getting so many calls on my landline.

Basic Equipment Necessary for VHS Conversion to Digital Formats
Many people who lived through the 70s, 80s, and 90s had a video camera to capture memories on film. There was no internet, no smartphones, and no streaming services. There were video cameras, VHS tapes, and VCRs — a simpler time. But now that technology has taken leaps and bounds since then, it’s time to get with the times. If you want those taped memories to last forever, you need to get them…

CRANK YANKERS RECORD STORE SERIES
Finally, the comedians are handed the phone and sent off to play. The writers develop scripts for specific characters while the producers investigate potential targets - anyone from customer-service departments to local video stores and sex shops. How do they set up these prank calls? According to Kellison, the process is fairly straightforward. Special Ed, for example, is developmentally disabled and repeats a single phrase over and over. The material is funny, although you need something of a high-school sense of humour to relish every gag. "Oh, my Lord," gushes the shop assistant as Gladys describes the film in detail. "I got child protective services up my ass and now they think I'm a pervert!" she complains.
CRANK YANKERS RECORD STORE SERIES
Additionally, the albums Learn & Burn and The Sheepdogs both achieved Platinum status and to date the band has been nominated for 10 JUNO awards, winning four of the coveted trophies including Breakthrough Group (2012) and Rock Album of the Year. The Sheepdogs have notably received Rock Album of the Year nominations for all four of their last studio albums. The band were the first to be selected as the Record Store Day Canada Ambassadors in 2018 and have sold out shows from coast to coast and around the world.Gladys Murphy - a favourite from the first series after her turd-in-the-back-seat complaint - returns with a complaint to a video store about a pornographic tape that found its way into her VCR. All told, the band have scored ten Top 20’s, with seven of those Top 5’s and three single taking the #1 spot on Canadian Rock radio including, “Hole Where My Heart Should Be” from their 2018 studio LP Changing Colours. Hit singles “I Don’t Know” and “Feeling Good” both reached Platinum certification, with “The Way It Is” achieving Gold sales. Hailing from Saskatoon, The Sheepdogs are one of Canada’s most successful bands amassing a legion of fans worldwide with their rich harmonies, rounded guitar tones and classic rock influenced sound. In Canada, the band will be performing at KRUGOFEST this weekend, with performances at the Calgary Stampede and Edmonton’s Together Again Festival coming up. In addition to releasing their new EP No Simple Thing, The Sheepdogs are returning to the stage as local regulations begin to allow it. We wanted to convey that feeling in the video and hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we enjoyed making it.” I think that’s something that is universal and not gender-specific, and something that everyone can identify with. The song is about not realizing how much you love something until you almost lose it and fighting to get it back. It was amazing to watch all the band members come to life in puppet form. The idea for the video stemmed from a conversation around how we wanted to make a video non-binary love story and the idea evolved from there to be a love story between Ewan and his guitar (who we named Leslie – as in Leslie Paul). “Both Mat and I love puppets and have always wanted to do something with puppets for a video. The puppets were created by LA-based puppeteer Jess McKay (Crank Yankers, Jim Carrey’s Kidding), with illustrations created by Dawn Aquarius, all of which match the band’s throwback aesthetic perfectly. Co-directed by bassist Ryan Gullen and Mat Dunlap, the video sees the group portrayed as puppets in the timeless tale of the enduring love between a rock star and his guitar. Beloved band of rugged rockers, The Sheepdogs have released the official video for their hit single “Keep on Loving You” last week.

The biggest feature of the LG RC897T DVD Recorder/VHS VCR Combination is that it is multi-functional. No.4 LG RC897T DVD Recorder/VCR Combination What requires is an external DTV Converter, Cable, or Satellite Box.
#Dvd recordee tv
But you need to pay attention to the usage of receiving and recording TV programming. Isn't it convenient and helpful? And for the price, the value is outstanding and far exceeds expectations. Because when it is running, it is extremely quiet. And you don't have to worry about its noise. Most of the users claim that the picture and sound quality are really wonderful for both DVDs and TV broadcast. Of course, if you have the requirement to record some long-playing movies or sporting events, you can choose the Panasonic's enhanced 4-hour recording mode and record it by just pressing the Record button on the VIERA remote. And with it, you can not only record directly to VHS, but also provide non-copy protected video content from VHS to DVD service or DVD to VHS service. This VHS to DVD recorder provides the amazing service of record most DVD formats and play back most of DVD and CD formats. It is a pity that Panasonic DMR-EA38VK DVD Recorder/VCR Combo has been discontinued. No.3 Panasonic DMR-EA38VK DVD Recorder/VCR Combo Just cleans up all the video tapes and starts your VHS to DVD recording experience. If the dubbed content doesn't have the copyright protection, it can also be operated to dub from VHS-to-DVD or DVD-to-VHS. Sanyo FWZV475F DVD Recorder/VHS Combo can record in the format of DVD-R and DVD-RW disc, compatible for most of DVD players.
#Dvd recordee 1080p
And at the same time, you can't miss its ability of providing both progressive scans out through component video outputs and HDMI and 1080p video upscaling via HDMI. That's to say, with the 1080 Up-conversion, you are going to enjoy a 1080p HD-picture quality with an HDMI cable and since this is combo unit, you will even save space. What's more, this VHS DVD recorder is compatible with DVDs/CDs/Kodak CD Picture Discs and VHS tapes regarding to its playback flexibility. Or if you are blessed with a digital camcorder, the unit also has a convenient front panel DV input. You need to connect an external tuner like a cable or satellite box because it is tuner-less. However, Funai ZV427FX4 DVD Recorder/VHS Combo is still accessible. You may find it difficult to get a DVD Recorder and DVD Recorder/VHS Combos. No.2 Funai ZV427FX4 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo All in all, it plays a wide range of different media, and it can also record in 5 different speeds for up to 6 hours. So, you need to connect a Cable/Satellite or DTV Converter Box if you want to record TV programs. This VHS to DVD recorder has a built-in tuner. However, there is one thing you need to take care. When connected to a 1080p TV, 1080 video is possible to upscale via HDMI. Talking about its ability of video output, through component video outputs, progressive scan can be accommodated. Regarding its flexibility of playback, the FWZX475F DVD Recorder/VHS Combo can work for DVDs/CDs/Kodak CD Picture Discs. As a VHS to DVD recorder, the Sanyo FWZX475F DVD holds a great compatibility with the DVD-R and DVD-RW disc formats, which means you can play them back on most of popular DVD players, and it can both record and play back VHS tapes. The Sanyo FWZV475F DVD Recorder/VHS Combo has been available until now and it has a high condition of demand (But it's hard to say how long it will exist.). No.1 Sanyo FWZV475F DVD Recorder/VCR Combo However, be careful that you can't record of copy commercially made DVD to VHS or VHS to DVD. There are many kinds of DVD recorder/VHS VCR combos, which can record most DVD formats and play back most of DVD and CD formats, as well as record or copy homemade recordings, such as TV recordings. Here, you must need the help of VHS to DVD Converter products to get DVD to VHS recorded. If you have a box of your family memories on VHS tapes, you'd better convert them into long-lasting digital format.

School Years: Together & Apart
    - March Year 19 through 10 April Year 22 -
2 March Year 19 Notes 1 (SJ)
Ten days after returning from the U.S., SeokJin and his father visit the principal’s office at his new school. SeokJin learns that he will start one grade lower due to the different education systems. SeokJin’s father grips his shoulder while the principal explains that school is a “dangerous place” that needs to be “tightly controlled.” He asks: “You know you have to keep me informed, right? You’ll be a good student, right?” SeokJin squeezes out a “yes” and his father lets go. Both ChangJun and the principal laugh. SeokJin looks down at their shining shoes, wondering from where the light is coming.
Note: SeokJin’s 25 June Year 19 entry in Notes 1 specifies that his father attended the same high school. JiMin’s 23 July Year 22 entry in Notes 2 reveals that, according to a comment he finds on an online news article, ChangJun and the principal were in school at the same time and fought with each other “as if it would only end when one of them dropped dead,” but they appeared to get along later due to politics.
3 March Year 19 BTS Universe Story: The Boy on the Threshold, ep.1
On the first day of school at Songju Jeil High School, the Dean of Students berates the six latecomers lined up outside: SeokJin, NamJoon, HoSeok, JiMin, TaeHyung, and JungKook. YoonGi arrives even later. The Dean assigns them one month of community service as punishment. When he notices SeokJin, he clears his throat and says he is letting them off because it’s the first day: they must all assemble after classes to clean the annex, a classroom turned into a storage room. This room becomes their meeting place and hideout even after their punishment is finished.
Note: Their punishment for being late is referenced in JiMin’s 12 March Year 19 entry in Notes 1, when he escapes to the old classroom again and finds the others already there. He observes that it feels as though they’ve been “hanging out together forever.” The punishment scene is also similar to a moment in the BTS Begins Middle Scene VCR. Although it includes a few extra students and cannot be confirmed as BU content, it does mirror the canonical detail of YoonGi arriving last.
28 May Year 19 Notes: Answer
In the classroom hideout, JungKook asks everyone what their dreams are because he has to write a paper about future hopes. SeokJin wants to become a good person, and YoonGi says it’s okay to have no dream. TaeHyung poses on a chair and says he’s going to be a superhero. HoSeok scolds him and adds that he wants to find his mom and live happily. JiMin asks him if he is unhappy now, and HoSeok pulls an exaggeratedly worried expression. “Is that how it works?” JiMin is flustered when HoSeok asks what his dream is and remembers that when he was in preschool he wanted to be president, but didn’t know what he wanted after that. Everyone looks at NamJoon, who shrugs and confesses that while he wants to say something nice, he doesn’t have a dream either and just wishes that his part-time job pays more. JungKook looks down at his assignment, divided into sections for “student” and “parent,” and wonders what he hopes to become. He can’t think of anything to write.
12 June Year 19 — The Sea Notes 1
YoonGi’s entry:
All seven boys cut school and decide to go to the sea. They have little money between them, so they must walk to the train station. As they leave, YoonGi almost bumps into JiMin and realizes that he is standing frozen with a trembling face. JiMin stares at a sign that reads “2.1km to Grass Flower Arboretum.” YoonGi flatly tells him that it’s too hot to go to the arboretum. He has an “instinctive feeling” that they should avoid it. He observes that JiMin walks away like a little kid, head bent and shoulders hunched.
JungKook’s entry:
The boys arrive at the beach. They hang around under a torn parasol until HoSeok holds up a discovery on his phone: a large rock that is supposed to grant your dream if you stand atop it and shout your dream out to the sea. TaeHyung encourages them to go. While they grumble in the heat on the long trek, JungKook reflects on how he had recently asked the others what their dreams were. (See 28 May Year 19.) None of them really have a dream to pursue.
YoonGi tells JungKook to stop biting his nails or else they’ll become like his. Then he asks JungKook what his dream is. Having never thought about it, JungKook doesn’t know. He hesitates and then asks what a dream is. HoSeok rattles off a few definitions from his phone. YoonGi questions, “How can something that you want to achieve most in your life and something that is unlikely to come true both be called a dream? … Don’t ever try to have a dream.” JungKook asks why. At his glance, YoonGi stops biting his nails and puts his hands in his pockets. “Because it’s tough having one.” JungKook is curious about why YoonGi bites his nails but doesn’t ask. He recalls that it has been a habit since his childhood to hurt himself. He remembers cutting his finger on a knife badly enough that his mom took him to the hospital, but she didn’t take care of him after they went home. His wound healed slowly because he kept pressing it; the pain helped him feel awake. Even now, he sometimes feels hollow.
TaeHyung asks how much longer they have to walk. HoSeok is puzzled, saying they should be close. They gaze around the empty, pebbled beach. JiMin sighs and reads aloud from an article on his phone. A resort will be built on this beach, and the construction company blew up the rock. They notice the cordoned off construction zone. They try to reassure each other to remain positive, but they all feel the disappointment of walking all that way for nothing. JungKook notices YoonGi biting his nails again and tries to stop him, but he is interrupted by a loud drilling noise. JungKook looks past him at the sea and all that remains of the dream-granting rock, the pebbles under their feet. “Is the world tough for you, too?” he asks, but YoonGi can’t hear him. JungKook screams again. “Do you want to give up on this world, too?” HoSeok and TaeHyung laugh at their mimed conversation. They all look out to the sea and shout their dreams. The drilling is so loud that they can’t hear each other. JungKook cannot even hear his own dream. When the noise stops, they cut off abruptly and laugh. SeokJin suggests that they take a photo. He sets the timer and runs to join their row, the sea behind them. They walk back to the train station. JungKook asks if he can keep the photo. SeokJin writes “June 12” on the back and gives it to him, telling him that his dream will come true. JungKook asks if SeokJin knows what he shouted to the sea, and SeokJin merely taps his shoulder and strides ahead.
BTS Universe Story : The Boy on the Threshold, ep.3
JungKook’s memory of the beach trip follows a similar structure to the scene in Notes 1, plus a notable addition. After they fail to find the dream-granting boulder, JungKook climbs up on the pier railing. He thinks: “I’ve always liked walking on the edge of walls or on top of lines. Focusing on centering my gravity means that I don’t really think of anything else, and the boundary—not quite a part of either place—always felt like where I should be.” Someone grabs his arm while he precariously balances. YoonGi tells him not to do that, and JungKook assures him that he won’t fall.
“YoonGi would often grab my arm when I walked on railings. The others would look after me, too, after seeing him do that. I liked their helping hands. It felt like they were telling me that I should go to them. That this wasn’t my place. Maybe their hands were why I walked on the railings.”
25 June Year 19 Notes 1 (SJ)
Alone in the classroom hideout, SeokJin finds a plant by the window. He takes pictures with his phone but doesn’t think they capture what the human eye sees. He notices that “HoSeok’s plant” is scribbled on the floor beneath the pot and then realizes that the window sills, walls, and ceiling are covered with graffiti and drawings, messages left behind by the students who once passed through that room. He wonders if there were past teachers who used violence and endless tests or students like him who ratted out their friends to the principal. Since his father also attended that high school, SeokJin looks for his name on the walls and finds it with a phrase written underneath: “Everything started from here.”
Note: TaeHyung, JiMin, NamJoon, and YoonGi discover several other familiar names near Kim ChangJun (SeokJin’s father) on the classroom wall in TaeHyung’s 23 July Year 22 entry from 7’s album Notes and the extended version in Notes 2.
30 August Year 19 Notes: Her
JiMin plays in HoSeok’s shadow while he is on the phone, reflecting on how HoSeok has accompanied him on the two-hour walk home since the beginning of the school semester. JiMin eventually realized that HoSeok didn’t live in the same direction but never questioned him, simply hoping that their time walking together would stretch the day out a little longer. HoSeok finishes on the phone and chases after him while the cicadas sing and their ice creams melt. Suddenly, JiMin is afraid, wondering how many of these days are left.
20 March Year 20 Notes 1 (TH)
TaeHyung sneaks up on NamJoon in the hallway by their classroom hideout. He stops when he hears SeokJin’s voice inside, apparently informing the principal about how TaeHyung and YoonGi had ditched school and got in a fight over the past few days. SeokJin throws open the door, phone in hand, and looks flustered to see NamJoon standing there. TaeHyung hides in a corner and is shocked to hear NamJoon assure him, “It’s OK. There must’ve been a good reason.” HoSeok and JiMin find TaeHyung in the hallway, and HoSeok pulls him into the classroom. NamJoon beams at TaeHyung as though nothing strange has happened. Believing that NamJoon “must have his reasons” because he is more intelligent and mature, TaeHyung decides not to tell anyone about the conversation he overheard.
15 May Year 20 Notes 1 (NJ)
NamJoon visits the classroom hideout on his last day of school. Two weeks prior, his family decided that they needed to move due to complications with his father’s health and their overdue rent. NamJoon tries to write a message on a piece of paper. He scribbles “I must survive” before the pencil lead snaps. He crumples the paper and writes in the dust on the window instead.
“No farewell message would be enough to let the others know how I felt. At the same time, no farewell message was needed to make myself understood. ‘See you again.’ It was a wish, rather than a promise.”
Note: “I must survive” is a recurring message tied to NamJoon in the BU MVs. See also 17 December Year 21.

7 June Year 20 Notes: Persona
TaeHyung’s two month old puppy Dubu slips out of the leash and disappears while he is distracted on his phone. TaeHyung runs around the neighborhood looking for him, first angry at the puppy and then blaming himself. When Dubu returns on his own, TaeHyung is filled with the unfamiliar feeling that he is someone who can be relied on.
11 June Year 20 BTS Universe Story: The Boy on the Threshold, ep.5 Everyone’s Place
In the classroom hideout, JungKook listens to YoonGi playing the piano. The sound of the music makes him feel as if YoonGi understands how he feels and is trying to console him. The Dean of Students forces the door open, demanding why they are there. He berates and slaps JungKook, knocking him to the floor. YoonGi steps between them and shoves the teacher’s shoulder. The dean warns him that he had better be prepared for the consequences of putting his hands on a teacher and then leaves. Despite his throbbing cheek, JungKook smiles because it is the first time someone has protected him, and the feeling of getting closer to YoonGi makes him giddy. For the next two weeks, YoonGi does not come to school.
25 June Year 20 Notes 1
JungKook’s entry:
JungKook tries to play the piano in the classroom hideout, unable to make it sound like YoonGi did. He reflects on the rumor that YoonGi was expelled after the events of 11 June and wonders if YoonGi would still be here playing the piano if JungKook had not been there that day when the teacher appeared.
YoonGi’s entry:
Breathing hard, YoonGi arrives at his bedroom, removes a half-burned piano key from an envelope in his desk drawer, and throws it into the trash can. He remembers a day four years ago when he returned to their burned down home and found a skeleton of the piano where his mother’s room used to stand. He noticed several piano keys on the ground and took one of them, wondering what note it was and how many times her fingers touched it. In the present, YoonGi thinks how unbearable living under his father’s rule is and recalls what happened that day: he is officially expelled from school. He picks up the piano key again and hurls it out the window.
“I couldn’t hear the piano key hit the ground. Now I’d never know what note it made. It’d never make a sound again. I’d never play the piano again.”
17 July Year 20 Notes 1 (SJ)
At the end of the last school day before summer vacation, SeokJin tries to leave quickly but is hailed by HoSeok and JiMin. No one knows that he was pressured by the principal and revealed their hideout, which led to JungKook and YoonGi being discovered (11 June) and the latter’s expulsion (25 June). HoSeok wishes SeokJin a good vacation and to keep in touch, but he can’t reply.
“My first day at this school crossed my mind as I passed through the school gate. We were all late and got punished. But we were together, so we could laugh together. I had ruined all those memories we shared.”
Note: Variations of the sentiment “we can laugh when we’re together” recur throughout BU.
15 September Year 20 Notes 1 (HS)
In the hospital emergency room, HoSeok wants to explain how JiMin had a seizure at the bus stop to his mother, Sim SeonMi. When the doctors wheel JiMin’s bed out, HoSeok begins to follow until SeonMi thanks him and touches his shoulder. He feels like she has drawn a line between them that he cannot cross. He falls to the floor, and when he looks up, JiMin’s bed is gone.
Note: The name of JiMin’s mother is specified in his BTS Universe Story arc, Stopped Time. JiMin’s 11 May Year 22 entry in Notes 1 reflects that he blacked out at the bus stop after seeing the window of the Grass Flower Arboretum shuttle bus open. His 12 August Year 22 entry in Notes 2 reveals the real cause of JiMin’s seizure at the bus stop: he sees the boy that he left behind at the arboretum warehouse on 6 April Year 11. Though the boy’s empty eyes no longer speak to JiMin, this chance encounter awakens his memories of that day.
Tumblr media
28 September Year 20 Notes: Her and Smeraldo Books Twitter
JiMin, heavily medicated, has lost track of how long he has been back in the hospital. But he considers this a special day because he lies to the doctor for the first time about not remembering anything.
Note: He is lying about not remembering what triggered his seizure at the bus stop on 15 September and/or what happened at the Grass Flower Arboretum when he was a kid (see Notes 2 comments above). This lie is also referenced in his 11 May Year 22 entry in Notes 1.
30 September Year 20 Notes 1 (JK)
A teacher hits JungKook with an attendance book when he refuses to admit that he still visits the classroom hideout, reminding him of when YoonGi was beaten. Later, JungKook stands outside the room and imagines that the others are waiting for him on the other side. He opens the door to only find HoSeok, clearing out what remains of their belongings. HoSeok walks him out, and JungKook realizes that those days are gone and will never come again.
25 February Year 21 Notes: Her (HS)
HoSeok watches himself dance in the mirror. He has danced since he was around twelve and discovered an ecstasy that came from inside himself. Outside of the mirror, HoSeok is a person who collapses everywhere and takes medicine he doesn’t need, who smiles even when he hates it and isn’t happy. But when he dances, he truly becomes himself, casting away all that weighs him down and feeling that he can become happy.
2 May Year 21 Notes: Persona (JK)
Biking along the Yangjicheon riverbank, JungKook thinks about how his friends left him one by one and that no one at home or in the world smiles at him anymore. He stops in the shadows under a bridge. Nobody comes to this kind of ruined place, and maybe that is the reason no one comes to him either. He feels most comfortable alone in the complete darkness where no one will look for him and wants the moment to never end.
9 August Year 21 Notes: Persona (SJ)
SeokJin walks along a Los Angeles beach and photographs the ocean. It has been a year since he fled Songju and moved to his mother’s family’s home, where he grew up as a child. He doesn’t photograph people anymore and didn’t bring any photos from high school with him, afraid to remember who he was at that time or to wonder about how his friends are doing and whether they still think of him.

17 December Year 21 Notes 1 (NJ)
This lengthy entry details events that transpired since the autumn of Year 20 when NamJoon’s family moved to the village, framed by moments on 17 December itself as NamJoon leaves on his own. His family chooses this village because it has a nearby hospital for his ailing father and employers who will hire someone without a high school diploma. NamJoon serves as a delivery boy for an eatery, competing for work with the other local boys. They grow a strange sense of solidarity, and he privately dubs one of them “TaeHyung,” even though the boy’s discontent, outward behavior is more akin to YoonGi’s. (Quotation marks added to the name here for clarity.) Competition slackens when snow falls in winter. NamJoon and “TaeHyung” are the only ones poor enough to risk the road up to the mountain town’s rest area when orders are phoned to the village below. On an afternoon forecast to have heavy snowfall, the restaurant owner dismisses “TaeHyung” due to his bruised face and gives the deliveries to NamJoon. The old delivery scooter fishtails on NamJoon’s third trip down the mountain, throwing him off. More anxious about the scratched scooter than his cut ankle and aching body, NamJoon finally gets it to restart and returns to the eatery. “TaeHyung,” who has been hanging around this whole time, approaches and asks for a favor. Before he can answer, NamJoon receives a call from his mother relaying that his father went outside alone and fell, requiring a trip to the hospital. NamJoon understands that his father was only trying to keep his dignity but is still frustrated because he can’t earn any more much-needed money this day. He hands “TaeHyung” the keys and leaves to take his father to the hospital.
The next day, NamJoon learns that “TaeHyung” was in a fatal accident during one of the deliveries up the mountain. The police officer blames him for being a poor driver and not wearing a helmet. NamJoon does not speak up that he has never seen the helmet the owner now has placed out on the counter. He visits the scene of the accident, thinking that the white outline on the road could be his if he was the one to make the next delivery—just as it could be his family mourning in the village instead of “TaeHyung’s” mother. On a later trip carrying his father home from the bus stop, NamJoon pretends not to hear his father’s frail voice over the noise of barking dogs. A week after that, NamJoon is making steady deliveries up the mountain. During what is ultimately his last delivery, he speaks with a stranger at the rest area, who cautions him to take care. “Do you know what’s really dangerous? Calcium chloride and wet leaves, not the snow itself,” the stranger blurts as NamJoon departs. NamJoon drives carefully back, not looking at the scene of the accident. This is not out of safety, as he tries to convince himself, but guilt: guilt for surviving, for his relief of being the one alive, for not defending “TaeHyung’s” driving skills. He also wonders if he is “a hypocrite pretending to have a guilty conscience.” Because he scattered wet leaves and sprinkled calcium chloride to prevent the road from icing over where he fell that afternoon, believing that he would be making the next delivery. If he did not do both those things, would “TaeHyung” be alive?
Mind and body numb, NamJoon makes it home from the delivery detached from the world around him. The barking dogs snap him out of the daze, and he remembers his father’s words that he pretended not to hear and dwelled on daily despite trying not to think about them: “Go, NamJoon. You must survive.” The next morning (17 December), NamJoon sneaks away to the bus stop. He is running away from his family’s misfortunes, from his own resignation to his fate, from poverty. The bus is scheduled to arrive in Songju in a few hours—the city he left with no notice and is returning to once more with the same. NamJoon wonders if his old friends still live there and how they are doing. On the frosted window, he writes with his finger: “I must survive.”
Note: The village boy’s real name is JongHun according to NamJoon’s 12 June Year 22 entry in Notes 2, which also reveals that he visited JongHun’s home to give his condolences before he left town.
1 February Year 22 Notes: 7 (SJ)
Summoned by his father without explanation, SeokJin flies back to Korea from Los Angeles. Although he has addresses in both LA and Songju, neither place feels like his home.

Thoughts on Steven Universe Future 3/6/2020
Spoilers Ahead
In dreams: Much different than what I predicted. Not about nightmares, but lucid dreams instead. This episode continues the exploration of Steven’s need to be needed. This is not the first time Steven has sacrificed the comfort of his own dreams and sleep for someone else. Back in Kiki’s Pizza Delivery Service he helped Kiki with her nightmares.
The episode opens with Steven’s first dream. He is going to a party at his own home and the gems, the off-colors, Lars, Onion, and Connie are all there. He is ready to join. He’s earned it from saving the galaxy. Steven believes that things like friendship and time to have fun as something he must earn. But Cookie Cat, as the head of Obsidian, tells him that he isn’t needed anymore. The house rejects him. This is apparently not the first time he’s had dreams like this. When Peridot arrives, this gives him a use. He has cable, a vcr, and a vhs tape (again Steven is using outdated technology, another indicator of him holding onto the past). I imagine that Peridot has a way to watch the show without Steven, but because she is his friend and likes watching Camp Pining Hearts with Steven, she will watch it with him.
They don’t like the new show. Steven’s previous dream is broadcasted over it (in-line with his powers exhibited in Maximum Capacity). This gives Peridot the idea for Steven to essentially make new episodes. Here he lets Peridot direct his dreams. He is willing to let his privacy be invaded just to keep her around.
I’m not sure what to make of the dreams in the context of them relating to the show. Peridot wants romantic conflict, drama and character agency. Steven doesn’t have much input on the plot other than adding his foil character “Stephan” that he describes as “hunky life-guard friend with nice muscles and everyone always wants to hang out with him”. It’s very in-line with Steven’s character that he would want to be a life-guard. Someone who saves and heals people. That’s basically what Steven is already in many ways. Perhaps Steven doesn’t realize that he is just as beloved as his oc.
Steven can’t complete an entire episode. His thoughts about the diamonds and the events of the movie get in the way. These are things he needs to talk about with someone, but he has pushed it to the back of his mind.
Peridot is apparently a story-board artist now. In her words “I’m good at everything”. She plans for “Stephan” to kiss Jasmine to make Rodrigo jealous for dramatic purposes. Steven finds the idea unsettling, since he basically is “Stephan”. He relents when it seems that Peridot might leave. When he tries to go through with it, he can’t do it. The idea of kissing someone who isn’t Connie seems to bombard him with guilt, and they aren’t even an item. (At least that’s what I gather from the next episode, they refer to each other as “friends”, and not anything else.) Connie turning into Obsidian and stomping Steven “breaks” the dream. It’s still a dream however. He approaches “Peridot” to tell her that this needs to stop. He turns “her” around, and “her” visor is the universal image indicator of “no signal”. He is feeling disconnected from Peridot. The dream-Peridot approaches the house party from the beginning of the episode. This is the happy-place that everyone but Steven seems to be in right now. While everyone is in a much better place than they were at the beginning of the series, Steven probably thinks he’s the only one struggling. If Peridot joins this place, that leaves Steven alone outside. The whole house is the “no signal” image. He is on a different wave-length than his friends and family. Steven says that he doesn’t know how to be a friend without something to fix. This has been his whole life. He joined the gems because he exhibited powers and was there to help with corrupted gems. Before he became more competent with his powers he was often left alone to his own devices. The most time that gems spent with him was during the Cluster arc at the Barn. This is also where he spent the majority of his time with Peridot. He feels that he has to pull the weight in this friendship and that Peridot has to get something out of it for her to stay.
When Steven wakes up, Peridot is apologetic. Earlier in the episode she did realize that making these dreams was bothering Steven in some way, but she continued anyway. Since Steven was finally honest her, she understands. They don’t need an excuse to hang out together.
Bismuth Casual: I was very wrong on my prediction for this one as well, I thought this would be about a day-in-the-life of Little Homeworld or something else to that affect.
Steven, Connie, Bismuth and Pearl are on their way to go roller-skating. Pearl in under the pretense that Bismuth is here to meet and interact with humans while Bismuth is here to spend time with Pearl.
Pearl, I assume over the past two years or so, has amassed many human friends. She exchanges numbers with them, but it seems that she still thinks this is just a strange ritual rather than a way of communication despite the fact that she has a phone and teaches classes about communicating with phones.
Steven feels highly ostracized. He can only seem to bring up gem stuff in conversation with Connie’s friends. He doesn’t know how to skate or even what grade he’s supposed to be in. He’s no longer that confident and comfortable with himself. Him not knowing a lot about human culture isn’t new. He’s been this way for a long time, but he only seems to notice when he’s around other humans. When Connie’s friends arrive, he feels like he’s a third (or in this case fourth) wheel. To him it seems being less human should make him a less valued friend.
Bismuth has known Pearl for thousands of years, but this Pearl who sings car repair commercials and skates with humans is quite new to her. “I don’t want to take her away from what she’s got”. This is why Bismuth is there with the pretense of meeting new humans. She wants to catch up, but doesn’t want to encroach on what Pearl enjoys. Steven is much the same. But Connie actively reaches out to Steven. That’s what this night is about to her. As Bismuth points out, Steven has always been a Crystal Gem, always been weird and that’s never gotten in the way of their friendship.
So Steven takes a literal leap (and eats it), to tell Connie that he wants to reconnect (and learn how to skate). They form Stevonnie (who wears a very large shoe size know) and tear up the dance floor. They are still in sync. They are still friends and they can be connected.
To reconnect Bismuth and Pearl, Steven and Connie request for the car commercial song to be played. To Pearl’s surprise, Bismuth knows the song now. Everybody skates together.
What a nice pair of episodes. Both with a focus on Steven feeling inadequate and/or left behind in his relationships. It’s not a surprising revelation that Bismuth appears to have some romantic inclinations towards Pearl. Both episodes end on a high note (emotionally) for everyone.
Next Week
My predictions are going to be heavily based on leaks, so look away if you haven’t seen them.
Together Forever: Connie has a very clear vision of her future and Steven wants to make sure he's a part of it. With this new description I am more confident than ever that this is the proposal episode. If that little clip that aired at the end of Bismuth Casual is part of this episode, then I think Steven is going to ask Garnet what it’s like to be fused all the time and how to go about asking Connie. From the small clip, Garnet is comfortable infusing. (Which she appears to be in a scout master’s uniform for some reason. Some kind of Little Homeschool sanctioned camping trip with fusion components maybe??) Not sure if Garnet will be savvy enough about human relationships to give Steven any solid advice. Like from the leak, Connie would like to be her own person. Garnet’s components enjoy being Garnet for the vast majority of the time, would she be able to understand Connie’s perspective on this?
Growing Pains: Steven sees a doctor for the first time. So I was correct in my prediction that the hospital scenes from the promo were indeed real and not part of a dream. In my earlier predictions I said that Steven would go to the doctor because he was stuck in pink mode, but with this plot thread of human things, I think that Steven is going to have some mundane medical issue that he can’t fix with healing spit. Perhaps something like appendicitis, since he holds his side in pain in the promo.
If you all have any thoughts about the new episodes or episode predictions, let me know!

Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat
The hardest part about losing a loved one is trying to rework your life without their presence. Bendy from @a-rae-of-sunshine‘s HEA AU makes that adjustment while also welcoming Henrietta into it.
Do not seek death. Death will find you. But seek the road which makes death a worthy closure of the final chapter of your life.
The decision to record at the funeral caused a lot of ruckus, and though many debates led up to it, the reasoning was rather simple. While it was only a friends and family affair, it seemed at least half the town considered themselves friends. In their years after the horrors of the studio, their little family accumulated quite the menagerie. What a rare gift, to gather people from all walks of life under a banner of friendship, and their little family seemed to have it in spades.
The video served as a testament to the sheer number of people who loved him.
Even if it sat on a shelf to never be seen again, its very existence provided a physical dose of proof, a human library of all the ways he touched the lives of everyone around him.
Bendy never thought he’d look at the video.
Something had set him off tonight. He didn’t remember the details, but it likely had to do with Henrietta.
As soon as he got to hold her in his arms, he loved their newly adopted daughter with all his heart. Yet on multiple occasions now, the feeling of familiarity would strike him like a bolt of lightning, and it would begin. The ache in his stomach would grow, his ink would drip in an instability that he hadn’t felt in a long time; a reminder, a desperate reach for a comfort he couldn’t get again. He would remember what that ache meant. He felt the loss more strongly than ever then.
Things couldn’t continue like this. He wanted to think of his dad and smile, think of being a dad and want to do just as good as he did. Yet the loss rang in his head like a clock striking the hour, he’s gone, he’s gone, he’s gone. He hoped seeing the video would give him back control. A reminder of finality. A request to push on.
He held the tape in trembling hands, stood like a statue in front of the television. Frozen.
Close your eyes, and listen. What do you hear?
A survival strategy from the studio, passed on by Allison as calming advice. The little devil gripped the tape harder, far too tense. What did he hear? Ink. He always heard ink. Dripping, flowing, rushing, life giving and life taking ink-
But.
Also breathing. Gentle and calm, he could hear James, asleep on the couch. He didn’t need to turn around to picture his face, perfect and sweet, hair mussed up from lying down, the only constant the bit of hair that always stuck up. Slowly, he began to calm down. He released his vice-like grip on the tape, gently sitting down as he finally, finally pushed it into the VCR. If he needed to stop, James would be there for him. But he owed it to his little family to try first.
While the voices were clear on the tape, they didn’t register in his head as much more than a nagging static, murmured conversations just out of reach as people filed in for the funeral. Despite the somber occasion friends and family alike tried to keep their spirits up. They’d had to pick and choose well in advance who would speak. So many people had stories about Henry they’d be happy to share. Little by little, the mood seemed to lift, from the emotional sinkhole it began as, to something almost… hopeful.
Some stories were sad, of course, tinged with all the bittersweet notes of the knowledge that there’d never be a follow-up story. Others were quite funny, regaling antics long forgotten or never shared, even if he didn’t have the strength to laugh at them then or now. Allison spoke for Bendy, reading off what he’d written down. The mood in the room was a muddled, heavy mix of emotions. Sadness and mourning mixed with occasional bits of joy in the strangest cycle he had ever experienced.
Love, loss, hope, repeat.
He’d forgotten how much they’d all done for him.
Bendy glanced back at the couch, rubbing at the inky tears sliding down his face. James still lay on his back, fast asleep with their little baby in his arms. While the sounds of the television wouldn’t disturb Henrietta, they certainly would his husband. He needed the sleep. The little demon scooted closer and turned the volume lower. The video continued, cutting from the funeral service to the first time he’d visited his grave, after the headstone had been placed.
At the grave he’d left the single best memento he could think of, lovingly crafted to stand the test of time and elements: a framed drawing for Henry. One of his first to feature them as a family, all stick figures and ink splotches and only just enough to differentiate who was who. With this simple gift resting against the simple headstone, a clear message emerged: Here lies Henry Stein. As an artist, as a father, and as a friend to all who needed it, he was beloved.
The tape ended here. He stared at the screen a while longer, as muted video turned to muted static, until finally he turned the tv off. The room plunged into a familiar darkness, and the weight of the world pressed against his shoulders. How heavy a burden it was, an existence without him in it. Even in his bean form (an in-joke in his family about his different sizes), he knew he could weather the onslaught of feelings, though. Shakily but carefully he pushed back to his feet, swiping once more at his tears. Even now, the little smile on his face was genuine. He carefully climbed onto the couch, curling up in James’ arms, a single gloved hand on Henrietta’s side. His world filled and brightened, quiet breathing forming the unspoken lullaby to which he would slip into sleep.
While the world still turned without Henry on this Earth, his legacy continued in his friends, his family, and the lessons he imparted therein. They shared his stories and his spirit, all the little things that made him who he was. And that passed on; as Bendy watched their little baby sleep, he knew his father would never truly be gone. He had his memories… and he had that tape. He hoped he could be half the father to her his was to him. As pie-cut eyes slowly drifted closed, nuzzling just a bit closer to his husband, he imagined the warmth of Henry’s smile and the confidence he instilled, and knew it would be okay.

Hanging Out with Their Rent-A-Pal
by Jay S. Jacobs
Rent-A-Pal. The idea is so out-there and yet so brilliant that it is shocking that it is not more common. The world is full of lonely people, why not charge for friendship? However, what if the Rent-A-Pal had a dark side? What if he was like an abusive boyfriend: clingy, needy, passive aggressive and had some really dark impulses?
This is the idea behind the new psychological thriller Rent-A-Pal, starring Brian Landis Folkins as David, a lonely Denver suburbanite in 1990. He has no friends. He has no job, because he is a full-time caregiver for his mother who is in the throes of dementia. He is lonely and he is desperate for love.
This leads him to Video Rendezvous, an old-school version of Tinder. It is a dating service where you go in, film a short video tape in which you must quickly summarize your life, your wants, your experiences, your hopes, and dreams. All in about a minute. Then you take other videos – for a cost – and see if anyone you have picked has picked you. David is a little awkward, a little dorky, and he is getting no interest.
However, it is at Video Rendezvous that David meets Andy, played by Wil Wheaton, star of Stand by Me, Star Trek: The Next Generation and The Big Bang Theory. Andy isn’t a person – well not exactly – he is the host of a specialty tape called “Rent-A-Pal” which David finds in a bargain tape bin. The tape is essentially an open-sided conversation in which Andy has a real heart to heart with his viewer “pal” about life, aspirations, the world, clothes, girlfriends, family, etc.
Rent-A-Pal is loosely based on a real-life, very era-specific oddity: a 1986 videotape called “Rent-A-Friend: The Original Video Companion” This featured future Emmy-award winning Wild Chicago TV personality Ben Hollis as your “Friend.”
Rent-A-Pal writer/director Jon Stevenson discovered this cultural artifact and thought that it would make the basis for an interesting, strangely timeless psychodrama. What if the generic VHS patter becomes extremely specific to your life? Does that mean that the video is magic, the “pal” is real or all in your head? And what happens if you finally find someone to love and your pal doesn’t take it as well as you had hoped?
This makes for a fascinating movie dynamic. Folkins and Wheaton interact seamlessly even though they are never in the same room, in fact Andy is just a face on the TV set.

The movie Rent-A-Pal looks at the darkness of the situation, but looking at it in a lighter vein, but I wondered during a recent Zoom conference call with Wheaton, Folkins and Stevenson: What would the guys want in a Rent-A-Pal if they were to have one?
“I mean I’ve got my perfect Rent-A-Pal,” Folkins told me. “Wil Wheaton. Come on that’s all I need.”
“I feel ‘Rent-A-Friend’ is perfect,” Stevenson said. “He is the man that I needed at the right time, you know what I mean? [Or maybe] I just want a tape of me to look at. And I can just go, aahhh.”
Wheaton, on the other hand, thinks he may just give the whole idea a pass, particularly after having to deal with some of Andy’s darker impulses. The Rent-A-Pal probably isn’t getting anywhere near his VCR.
“Through my experience with Rent-A-Pal, maybe I’d skip it and go check out Holy Grail again,” Wheaton said. They all laughed.
“This is funny,” Stevenson continued. “There was a day on set, the day where Wil Wheaton was on set and he was like, ‘Jon, I can’t wait to never be this character again.’”
Wheaton took a closer look at his hesitance.
“In my experience, as an actor,” he said, “when I’m doing a character for more than a day, a little bit of that character lives in me, no matter what. He’s always there. He’s still alive. I have access to him on the set, so I can bring him back out and put him on. I’ve played some pretty bad villains, especially, I played a serial rapist and murderer on Criminal Minds.
“I could not wait to let go of this character,” Wheaton continued. “He was so dark and so terrible and [always] justifying the worst. But I had to do it, it was my job as an actor. I meant it. I could not wait to let Andy go. I felt his darkness. I felt his cruelty and his insincerity. I felt all of it. It was a lot. I was really glad that I only had to keep this guy alive for about ten hours.”
So, we guess that Wheaton did not keep the sweater vest as a souvenir of the experience?
They all laughed again. “I did not,” Wheaton said, quickly.
“I have it,” Stevenson admitted. “It’s in a vacuum-sealed bag in a storage garage.”
“As it should be…,” Wheaton said.
“An unmarked storage garage,” Folkins agreed.
Rent-A-Pal is so dark, how did the movie idea come to Stevenson?
“Rent-A-Pal in general came together in this really bizarre set of circumstances,” Stevenson said. “It starts with ‘Rent-A-Friend.’ A few years ago, I was in a really dark place. I had fallen into this depression and anxiety. I was going through a lot. I was in this really vulnerable place. One day I came across ‘Rent-A-Friend.’ It was this amazing concept from the 80s by a guy named Ben Hollis. The idea was that you would just rent a friend. You would bring a VHS tape home and talk to this guy on tape. It was a one-way conversation. But, for the 80s it was interactive. I'll never forget though, just because of where I was in my life, when I saw that video, how it made me feel. I knew that how I felt I had to capture that in a horror movie. So, I started writing Rent-A-Pal.”
Tumblr media
“For me, watching the original ‘Rent-A-Friend’ video was earth shattering,” Folkins agreed. “When I first read the script when Jon sent it to me, I was about nine pages in and I was like, ‘This is different than anything I've read before. I have to be a part of this. Please, Jon, please, please.’ Then he referred me to the ‘Rent-A-Friend’ video…. It rocked my world. The things that he was doing with the one on one relationship through this videotape. I was so fascinated.”
However, in the screenwriting process, it became obvious to Stevenson that the film was not about the tape or Andy, it was about the vulnerability of David. He is in a very precarious place in his life and could easily be drawn to a very dark place by someone with the wrong motivations. Particularly someone who was evil and manipulative. It was a very stylized new version of Strangers on a Train, where two people meet by chance and totally change each other’s lives. Only one of those people was a videotape.
Stevenson related to the whole situation with David, feeling like it was in some way his story. The script came out in a rush, finished in a month. Wheaton and Folkins signed on quickly, impressed by the story.
“In the movie, it's about timing and how [the dialogue] works out to the answers of the questions,” Folkins said. “When the timing lines up, that's all it took for David to release himself over to Andy. That was the turning point.”
“I wanted to keep Andy really simple,” Wheaton explained. “I felt that Andy was a predator. Andy was an abusive boyfriend. He was deeply insecure and extremely controlling and super manipulative. His primary fear – the thing that he was absolutely terrified of – was being alone. He seduced this person into being his friend and then just wouldn't let him go. The stakes for Andy were ‘I'm going to be alone forever this guy leaves.’ I just played with those fears.”
However, Wheaton realized that the disconnect in Andy was even deeper than that.
Tumblr media
“An aspect of the script that I really love,” Wheaton said, “and the thing that that moved me from, ‘wow, I really like this’ to ‘I have to be part of this’ was this moment… where I went, ‘You know, I don't know if Andy's even real.’ Like there's an actor named Andy who sat down for a video cassette. But the things that he's saying, I don't know if he's really saying those, or if all of this exists inside David's mind. I love that because either interpretation is completely valid.”
Of course, the ideas of loneliness and isolation and talking to people on screens have become even more vital to the world in the time since Rent-A-Pal was filmed. The COVID-19 pandemic has the whole world sheltering at home and unsure about so much which seemed to be taken for granted just six months ago. In this way, Rent-A-Pal is even more trenchant.
“What I love about this film is that it is coming out now,” Folkins said. “[It] is between our isolation and David's isolation and relationship with screens. In quarantine, we were all glued to the screens in a variety of different ways in a variety of different devices. I don't think it's any different from David in the late 80s finding a kinship with a screen both in trying to date and in his Rent-A-Pal.”
“It's all stuff that we just cannot have any [influence in],” Wheaton agreed. “We can't help it. We don't know what's going to happen. We could not have predicted the dumpster fire that we are living in right now when we worked on this movie together…. But we are now in this moment where like Brian said, we are so intimate with our screens. My wife and I have coffee with our friends on Zoom, because it's the only way that we can see each other. I feel like this timing is extremely interesting. Folks are going to watch this movie and I think now relate to it in a way that they would not have related to it had it come out one year ago.”
Still, Stevenson does not want it to seem that Rent-A-Pal is a story which is specific to the weird new world order we find ourselves in.
“We have had a discussion early on about the film that it's kind of timeless,” Stevenson explained. “You could write Rent-A-Pal to be a modern-day on a screen type of movie. Or it could have been film reels. Whatever. We're always seeking that validation and acceptance. And whatever window that we have to that, whether it's a screen or a book, we're going to cozy up to it.”
Tumblr media
In fact, the 1990 setting adds a certain tactile feeling to the movie, a nostalgia for the days of Blockbuster Video, big hair, tight jeans, Doc Maartens and VHS tapes. 1990, which was essentially sociologically still part of the 80s even though it was literally part of the 90s, makes for an interesting era to make the film, giving it a bit of hazy nostalgia.
“I grew up watching TV,” Folkins said. “I would take VHS tapes and record movies off of HBO at the super slow speed so I could get as many movies on a tape as possible. You watched the shit out of a man. I would just watch them until they fell apart.”
“I am aware of Zoomers discovering the 80s the way we discovered the 50s,” Wheaton agreed. “We discovered the 50s through Stand by Me and Back to the Future. They discovered the 80s through Stranger Things. There is absolutely an audience that wants to experience that time. There's those of us who lived it and want to remember the good parts of it. Then there are our kids who weren't there. Their experience of the 80s is really filtered through our desire to only remember the good parts. We don’t want to remember the AIDS crisis. We don't want to remember [Ronald] Reagan destroying the economy or ruining unions. We don't want to remember the Challenger [space shuttle explosion]. We don't think about that stuff. We think about malls and video games and riding our bikes and all of that stuff.”
However, Wheaton agrees with Stevenson about the idea of timelessness. The technology of the Rent-A-Pal can exist only in an awfully specific time, but the story itself could be done at any time, anywhere.
“The movie is about a multitude of things,” Stevenson explained. “Primarily, vulnerability and manipulation. But also, it's about loneliness, dementia, losing your grip on reality, relationships, love. There's just so many things that I was going through when I was writing it that just made their way in. It's hard to pick one thing. I think you could even make an analogy to fake news right now with Andy. People just believing anything they see on a TV or something.”
“The loneliness is what I attached to,” Folkins said. “What did David have to go through in order to get to where he was? He had committed himself to taking care of his mother with dementia. [He] just felt so lost that he needed to reach out through Video Rendezvous. He wanted love so bad. The way he lost his father. For me, the overriding thing is that loneliness and love and love is above all.”
“I feel very strongly that what is driving Andy,” Wheaton agreed. “If we accept that Andy is an actual person and that the relationship between Andy and David is real, what's driving him is his fear of loneliness. There is just this common theme that keeps coming back in this and it is isolation. Andy has been isolated for a really long time. If he were an actual person rather than finding someone and saying ‘let's step out into the world together,’ he's actually saying ‘I'm going to bring you into my world and I'm not going to let you go.’ That mirrors a lot of predatory behavior that I think we see happening in the world right now. Towards vulnerable men and women all over the place.”
“There's a scene in the movie that struck me the most when we were shooting,” Folkins continued. “It's when David goes in the kitchen. He's put his mom to bed. He's sitting at the kitchen table, staring at the wall, having a drink of alcohol and a piece of chocolate… Mounds. That's when he gets to unwind. The loneliness of that just wrapped it all up for me.”
Of course, with the world suddenly full of lonely people, as noted before that sense of loneliness and desperation is particularly widespread. People can’t go to the movies, can’t go out to dinner, are afraid to go to work of school, can’t go to concerts. The world is in a dark place.
“There's a thing happening in the world right now where people are afraid,” Wheaton said. “People are uncertain. As a consequence of that, there are a lot of extremely vulnerable people around who are ready to be manipulated by a charismatic leader, whether that leader is a white nationalist racist who happens to be President, or that leader is a leader of a religion or some other things like that. We see this happens a lot with vulnerable people being manipulated by predators who have their own agenda.
“Like I said before, when we were making this picture, we had no idea what it was going to be like,” Wheaton concluded. “No one could have predicted this, which makes me really afraid of the things that we can't predict that we're gonna be talking about a year from now.”
“Yeah, timing has been a theme that keeps coming back on this movie,” Stevenson agreed. “The timing in which it's coming out, [it] just seems like the world is ready for something like this.”
