I've written about Yosef before and how non-heteronormative or cisgender their story is, so here's a portrait of them to go along. As a trans Jew their story resonates so much with me. We don't know how they would have identified or what language they would use if they were alive today, but we do know that their story is important to many LGBTQ+ Jews and that they have a place in our history.
