It's kinda funny to me to see how many non-finnish ppl are getting into finnish music bc of käärijä when I as a finn have gone through most of my life being a pretentious idiot loudly proclaiming that I don't really like or listen to finnish music 💀
with few exceptions like dingo my beloved. pls someone listen to and appreciate kunnian kentät by dingo one of my fave finnish songs of all time. 😭 really I love every single song on this collection album of theirs. In the 80's dingo was kinda like finland's beatles, they were absolutely huge.
idk in this I am also my mother's daughter because we are both insane about käärijä & love dingo's music an insane amount

Looking at my year in music and I am surprised that Welcome To Valdelobos by Alita Nightsbane was in my Top 20 tracks while not a single FOB song made it.

the thing is i understand people who make fun of swifties who are so adamant about her being "the best songwriter of our generation" or whatever. i personally believe she is very good lyrically, but to my mind it only truly shines in speak now, (some songs on) red, folklore, and evermore. most of her other albums range from lyrically okay-good to meh-cringe (vigilante shit i'm never forgiving you), but the thing is. that's literally not a problem? are we above mindless, fun pop songs? i can shake ass to 22 while simultaneously recognizing that the lyrics are Very Much average hot 100 billboard. this goes both to swifties who think every single one of swift's lines was crafted by calliope herself and to deny that is to be a misogynistic hater—she's been the most influential artist in the world for at least 10 years, of course her discography has to be built on accessibility and songwriting tropes & easy options—, and to bad-faith critics who only ever use shake it off as a counterargument to her way with words, as if she hadn't written hundreds of songs. she has pop hits and a lot of them are Lyrically Average, only enhanced by how abysmally vacuous a lot of charting songs are. but she also has delightful songs that read like poetry. yes the sexy baby line exists but so does "i'd meet you where the spirit meets the bones, in a faith-forgotten land / in from the snow, your touch brought forth an incandescent glow, tarnished but so grand". get over it.

The Electric Prunes slapped so much. I knew them since 2019 but until now I managed to listen to one of their full album and it's just so good and addictive
