Just saw good omens season 2 with my cousins
Now my soul is crushed.
Obviously I've been spoiled but I didn't think it would hurt this much. I had sooo much hope ! Of course I've loved it as much as s1 but even if some of my fav ships were there, a tear rolled on my cheek in the end. I've been brain rotting since then. The LOOKS guys I just can't get over it. And the song. Lil tune stuck in my head. I can't even be mad because this was so good ! Anyway it was really cool to see my fav characters and some new ones that are now also on my fav list. So yeah. This was great. Cheers to Crowley (I might cry again just typing his name) and lots of love to Aziraphale .
Love them .
Now here comes the Beelzebub and Gabriel topic. I would never have guessed. But damn aren't they cute . The little things they do for each other, the fav song of Beelzebub that became Gabriel's favourite too, the fly...
That was really a good season 2.

This one goes out to @a-dauntless-daffodil. They infected me with the hilarious idea that Charlie is jealous of an inanimate object.

Husk/Al and Angel/Val Comparison
Both Husker and Angel Dust are living in the same shit sandwich, but how are their situations different?
The chains
Whenever the chain that Val has on Angel is depicted, it’s always short and misty. It’s usually around Angel’s hand
Tumblr media
Al’s chain on Husk is long, clear, and around Husker’s neck
Tumblr media
Woah, definite contrast.
Chain length:
Husk’s chain is long, showing that he can usually do as he pleases. Alastor only occasionally needs Husk, but in general, Husk can be independent. In addition, Al usually lets a lot slide with Husk in terms of sass, sarcasm, and attitude.
Angel’s chain is short and easily tugged upon by Valentino. Angel has a nearly 24/7 obligation to Val and to his job. Angel can’t really step even slightly out of line, except for outside of work (but even then, the very next day Val will punish Angel at work).
Chain opaqueness:
Defined and structured, Husk’s leash-like chain is impossible to break out of. Interestingly, this also suggests that the deal/contract Alastor crafted was much more loophole-proof and solid than Val’s. Husk’s entrapment is physical and undeniable.
Angel’s misty chain has more flexibility to it, and we even occasionally see Angel try to tug himself out of it. Although it’s definitely there (as Val often likes to remind Angel of), it’s more so symbolic, as above all, Val has emotional control over Angel.
Chain placement:
Husk’s chain is around his neck, like a collar of ownership. Ownership not only of his body, but of his soul. This points back to the fact that Husk literally traded his soul to Alastor. However, it’s also a bit easier to forget about the collar-like placement, especially if he’s grown used to it, that is at least until it’s tugged upon.
The placement of Angel’s chain being around his hand provides a much higher emphasis on Angel’s body, as that is what Val “owns”. The chain is always there (whether physically or metaphorically), right in front of Angel, and he can’t ignore it.
Bonus:
Angel’s chain is red/pink, symbolizing emotions and (to an extent forced) lust. Whereas Husk’s is green, symbolizing the greed that drove Husk to trade his soul in the first place.

I’ve seen so many people saying that “of course the straight couple get the happy ending” (meaning ineffable bureaucracy), am I missing something? I thought Beelzebub was nonbinary ? Did I make this up in my head, or have people just forgotten because of the actor swap?

I'm just going to say it: i love Good Omens for its ace-coding (and/or potential aro-coding, too). And, i think that it's very easy to view Crowley & Aziraphale as queerplatonic. When i say that, i don't mean that people are wrong for seeing their dynamic as purely romantic, i'm not at all dismissing the pair's obvious love and care and devotion towards one another. All i mean is that, if you want to, it's easy to read that love and care and devotion as platonic, i.e., a love for the other person's soul, above anything else. And that aspect of it heals a little part of my own soul every time i watch it.
Idk, it's just something about all of their little rituals, the thoughtful compliments, the favours and the gift-giving- done out of genuine kindness, not expecting anything in return except for getting to watch the other smile. Every interaction is full of symbolism and meaning, yet without being based on overt romantic love. It's also about how they can admire each other without touching- not because they don't love each other exactly- but because they are already so aware of their inherent togetherness that there is no real need to prove it through touch. Their relationship transcends physicality in the same way it seems to go beyond the boundaries of traditional romance. Even with the kiss in season 2, we know that it is not part of their established ways of showing affection, and we are shown that neither of them are comfortable with it because of that.
They've spent 6000 years cultivating their own unique love language, and the show goes to great lengths to keep expanding on that- not just throw it away or completely change it once Heaven and Hell are less involved in their lives on Earth. Crowley & Aziraphale's development together really is a beautiful thing to watch- and idk about any of you- but positive or even just neutral portrayal of non-traditional, sexless relationships feels like a rareity, especially when it comes to television. That's why this show is such a big source of comfort for me personally.
I'm autistic- so this might just be yet another case of me just not 'getting it', since i can't read faces or tones of voice- and therefore i'm just not seeing what everyone else is, but i'm hoping at least one other person out there interprets it this way too.
...
[I am talking about the TV show here; their asexuality felt a lot more overt in the book]

Aziraphale and Crowley's relationship has had several moments of strong conflict where different ways of handling problems are observed.
Tumblr media
On the one hand we have the demon who is easily annoyed and it is evident that it is difficult for Aziraphael to calm him down, he simply explodes and walks away. In his states of rage he can hurt the angel a lot, and it is noticeable that in those moments he assumes a momentary power by the aggressiveness. The angel seems to fear his reaction and assumes a passive stance towards him. I wonder if they have ever talked about how unpleasant Crowley is in his rage.
Tumblr media
Aziraphale takes on conflict differently, he is manipulative and passive aggressive. Crowley can hardly convince him of anything no matter how many tantrums he throws, if the angel says NO it is NO, and really at home you do what the angel says. He knows how to manipulate Crowley.
Tumblr media
It must be frustrating for Crowley to understand that he can't do anything about the angel's decisions, if he wants something he will do it, he doesn't care if he doesn't agree, Aziraphale is in control. So when the angel decides to go to heaven Crowley knows he can't help himself and desperately tries to stop him with a kiss.
Tumblr media
However, despite seeing in S1 how Crowley threatens the angel, the blond is not afraid of him, so it is unlikely that there will be physical violence.
Tumblr media
In discussions, one of the two always walks away. This is a mechanism of personal and relationship protection, which prevents an increase in violence but at the same time makes it difficult for them to talk about what happened and solve it.

i could talk about husk and alastor’s relationship for hours its not even funny. what is their deal. alastor often oversteps husk’s physical boundaries in the pilot. husk frequently backtalks and insults alastor and cusses him out and faces no consequences. alastor could easily force husk to work at the hotel but decides to butter him up with alcohol. it says in the wiki that alastor considers husk to be among his closest companions, with the likes of niffty and ROSIE (though admittedly i doubt this is still canon). husk brings alastor’s leash up to his face and seems surprised when alastor, the guy who kickstarted his career in hell by KILLING OVERLORDS WHO DISSED HIM, snaps at him, implying alastor does not often pull rank like this. speaking of alastor’s deal, how the hell does husk even know alastor HAS ONE. did alastor just randomly tell him about it over a bowl of popcorn and ice cream like a duo of middle school girls’ gossip. i heavily doubt it. what is up with these two.

spent a surprising length of time today binge reading angel's friends, a pretty good italian comic book series that was adapted into a pretty mediocre early 2000s cartoon series. i had been vaguely aware of the cartoon in the sense that kid me was prone to imprinting on anything with even a passing resemblance to winx club, but didnt know about the comics, and its kind of amazing how much better the comics are, in spite of apparently never being finished :(
like its not a masterpiece or anything and its got a couple of Very Questionable character designs but man im a sucker for silly angels vs devils brand fantasy media and the way the comics approach that type of story with some actually pretty fresh lore ideas (whether or not all of it necessarily makes perfect sense..) really gets me in my overanalyzing-childrens-media-worldbuilding brain.
also (with the exception of aforementioned questionable designs) its just so much cuter and overall visually appealing than the show like look at this
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i dont even like dislike the show designs or anything theyre very y2k but im biased towards the one where they actually look like kids

Yo I got a question. Chaggie or chaggily? WHICH IS BETTER! THE PEOPLE WANNA KNOW!!
OH GAWSHH!!
NOOO!! WHY DID YOU ASK THIS??
Oh my gooddneesss this is hard. AAAAAA
I first shipped Chaggie like most chaggily shippers. And uhhhh, when Emily showed up I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the potential poly. Gawsh... tbh I can barely choose. But like I do prefer some choices and potential stuff over the other sometimes.
Like for Chaggie I love that we have an already established relationship that is healthy but not perfect to make it more interesting. Like they have their own problems they need to focus on and I love that they can do that together. The angst? The fluff? A wlw relationship not toxic, sexualized, nor is one super masculine and the other super feminine where it's rlly jst a str8 ship(no offense to those ships I jst like when they both still show atleast a bit femininity imo), and it's the main ship??? Helll fckjnn yess that shit is everything to me and so much more. I barely get that and I cherish it sooo much when it exists in media. In my blog it is FILLED with chaggie content and an AU I made specifically jst to indulge in them even more.
Then Emily is added to the mix... THE POTENTIAL IS SOO CRAZYY I LOVE THE THREE OF THEM. And I'm a sucker for polyamorous ships. If yall know sashannarcy, that was my first ever time I shipped more than 2 people before. And then poly dokis(DDLC). From then on I can't function without one poly relationship to fawn over 😭
Another thing about Chaggily, is that it has so much more interesting things to go through than Chaggie alone has. Two people from hell dating an angel? Imagine the angst. And if anyone from heaven, especially Sera, were to find out that Emily was dating people from hell, what would happen? It's probably a touchy subject to be dating two people at all, but demons? Almost no one would accept that and she could well be casted off to hell.
Having saying that....
I'm gonna have to pick Chaggie‼️😭
IM SORRY!! BUT LIKE.... I think I just need more on screen interactions with Charlie, Vaggie, and Emily then maybe I would choose it. But right now I don't have much content to consume to feed the void 😔. BUT! But I do think Chaggily is so so SO much more interesting than Charlie and Vaggie, it's technically a pre-established relationship and would stand out from other ships in the show due to it being polyamorous. So then likely more people would be interested in it and maybe even become other people's favorite. But right now? We don't have much to go off of except headcanons and fan-made work.
Chaggily will always be in my heart tho 🥹🥹

It actually kind of bothers me that like 90% of hazbin and helluva ships are straight or guy x guy. In terms of main lesbian pairings we basically only have Chaggie. and like, don't get me wrong, I love Chaggie, but it just feels kind of imbalanced, you know? there's just...like...so many gay guys. and so few lesbians. Idk I'm just obsessed with demon Yuri and I need more of it.

You know what really slaps about Rimmer/Lister as a concept? You can ship them in the fluffiest, warm-cocoa kind of way, or as fatally toxic, codependent freaks who cannot communicate and should absolutely not involve anyone else in their shenanigans. and somehow both of these interpretations are equally supported by canon.
