Every time I look at how ace is drawn in canon, compared to Luffy, particularly in the book he's introduced, I'm once again struck by how widely and completely different he looks from Luffy

They both have black hair, but physically speaking that's where the similarities end

It reminds me of my friend being absolutely surprised to find out they weren't blood related, and my own surprise all those years ago. Because I think it speaks really well to Oda's attention to detail, to the small habits and quirks each person has that he really sells you on the fact that this is luffy's brother

I can't remember ever seeing someone say hm I don't think they seem very much alike when meeting ace, despite the wild differences, of which there are a lot! Even if we look at them as people, their personalities and life choices, they're really quite different! But the little details that make us go 'ah, brothers' are completely there! I just think it's neat

Assorted Sing Headcanons Pt. 4?

- Nooshy wears Heelys when they’re not dancing. And light-up Sketchers when she is.

- Marcus’s favourite Spider-Man is Hobie Brown.

- Ash will play a horror movie soundtrack at the theatre whenever people least expect it. Hence why she’s banned from the aux cord.

- Nana likes to prank people by telling them differing age for her. There is now a small local conspiracy that she is a vampire because of this.

- Meena is great at making flower crowns and the troupe will refuse to take them off if given one.

- Ash laughs at horror movies.

- Gunter believes pretty much any conspiracy theory anyone tells him. Rosita is starting to worry he’ll end up in a cult.

- Mizuki, while running the theatre’s social media, also has started fan accounts for the troupe members.

- Ryan is insanely good at learning languages.

- Rosita got Buster into cooking shows and he will now add commentary like a man who didn’t nearly burn down his apartment.

- Johnny was afraid of emergency sirens as kid but got a bit better around them as he got older.

This got me to learn sign language out of curiosity, which lead to me writing a paper to get is as a class at my school :)

Story Time with Big Sis Ash

Ash, at a sleepover with Johnny and Meena: Spanish is my first language. Like, the only thing I’m grateful to my bio parents for is teaching me Spanish. 

Meena and Johnny, also bilingual: *nodding along*

Ash:  But when I got to that age where in school where we had to take a foreign language and I found out that I could take Spanish class in school... all of a sudden, “yo no habla español”.

Meena, who signed up to take ASL while being fluent: *giggling and giving Ash a thumbs up*

Johnny, slightly irritated he couldn’t do that with Hindi: *rolling his eyes*

 Ash, pointing to Meena: Right!? I wanted to get that easy A! But my grammar was trash so, and I never understood the imperfecto, so... C+’s  all around if you know what I’m saying.

Johnny, who’s been struggling to understand Ash’s Spanish for months: Oh that makes so much more sense.

Meena: I know, right?!

Ash: I really need to teach you two slang. Anyway! But Lance used to make fun of me for this like “Ash, how do you get C+’s in Spanish if you speak Spanish?” And I’d be like “Oh. Oh no Lance. How the fuck do you fail English, huh, when you speak English? Pendejo.” 

Meena: You tell him Ash! He was قلة الادب.

Johnny:  And a झटका देना!

Ash, proud of her siblings’ reactions: Yeah, no fans of Lance in this house, none. Now, who wants to prank call Buster?

It's weird. I like fictional cult leader types, but Angie makes me uncomfortable. It's likely because of her writing and how it's culturally offensive, but I feel self conscious because everyone else seems to be able to put that aside and enjoy the character but I've never been able to, and I've tried to multiple times. I don't know, I'm just seeing her a lot because it's the character's birthday and I feel like it just sucks I can't see or experience the character in a positive way like so many others can.

It feels wrong because she's the only darker skinned girl in the v3 class #and that's what they did with her. The fact she's exoticized and uses “atua” which is a real religious figure... #I know others can look past it but something about just. that being a prominent part of her character... #it irks me I guess. #Something about also being a minority and seeing media show my culture in an exoticized manner probably plays into it. #I think a heavy rewrite would be required for me to be comfortable with Angie but would that be a different character at that point? Idk. #Like latino people. our native people were accused of human sacrifice and blood rituals. #and now on my home island they're all dead. their descendants blood mixed with that of the colonizer. #Maybe Angie's character brings some of those usually unspoken issues to the surface and that's why I don't feel comfortable with her. #Maybe she reminds me of the stereotypes put on my culture and many others.
