callumnews Callum greeting his mother as she joined him, Y/N, and her grandson for a day at the park. She was bestowed an award at Parliament House last week for her contribution to gender and cultural equality and she dedicated it to her grandson. All photos of their child had his face blurred out of respect for the Turner family.

Tbh I think the most logical and realistic theory to why RBR is pushing the lestappen agenda so much more than Ferrari is that it just benefits Max more than it does Charles. Charles is already like an angel to the F1 community. He’s EXTREMELY well liked across all fans. No one genuinely dislikes him (there are trolls that hate on him to annoy the lecfosi but otherwise). Unfortunately Max doesn’t have that same luxury. He’s seen as an evil jerk by probably a good half of the F1 community (although it’s improving). Being seen having such kind and gentle interactions with Charles helps soften that reputation. And the only drivers whose interactions with Max get this much attention is Charles and Daniel. However, I don’t think Daniel has the same positive effect on Max’s reputation that he used to, or at least not as much. Not since he got his seat again at another’s expense, and even more so after he got the contract renewal instead of Liam Lawson. The general view of Daniel is still positive I’d say, but not nearly as much. Plus, when Max and Daniel interact on behalf of RBR, it just excludes Checo and looks more like a different agenda, which pisses some people off even more and doesn’t help anyone. Charles on the other hand, there is literally no negative side effect to their interactions to be widely seen, so RBR is going to take advantage of that.

yes, this is also a strong theory in my mind! the added baggage around doing it with daniel these days is a good point. charles is unproblematic and has great star power on the grid and that’s why all the top teams like to flex their charles interactions on social media (not just rbr).

i think charles comes with the added bonus that he has never really spoken badly about max and clearly approves of his (controversial) driving style. last year, the friendly rivals “full of respect” narrative that rbr was big on was a dig at lewis for sure, but it was also about max being seen as friendly/fun at the height of a (brief) title battle. especially when rbr (or christian) still gets some good press for “defending charles more than his own team” (every time ferrari fucks up, the chrisrian horner quote goes around? great staying power for rbr). yes, there was the austria 19 scuffle (and the great lestappen unfollowing) but everyone talks about that in a fond way now because of the change in their friendship since. and austin is a good example (“no i don’t mind max trying to punt me to dallas, i - an angel! - would do the exact same”).

i think it also benefits rbr to suggest that they might be able to get charles. yeah, it’s unfortunate for the Look if they can’t get him (and suggests that even the best car can’t lure whoever they want), but this is charles. the suggestion that they’ve even been able to get him to consider it for longer than a second is powerful, precisely bc no one thinks charles will ever leave ferrari (and many think rbr would be the last place he’d go, because of their “bad” rep).

charles benefits from it too, imo. rbr was definitely driving it and charles seems more passive with it (liked the merc tweet, but not rbr — which i think is more about the “mr russell” joke than merc). the padel date is new buy in. for him, it’s useful to suggest he has options elsewhere — but i also think max’s reputation benefits him for the exact opposite reason (suggesting he’s not just a “soft” angel and is in fact as brutal and deranged as max on track, given the chance).

so. yeah. there’s also a very strong plausibility that this is all just rbr capitalizing on rehabbing max’s reputation and charles taking the extra bargaining leverage with ferrari.

summary: in which austin brings ines to set and shes a little confused to see her dad kissing someone who isn't her mom

ask: reader x dad!austin - the reader brings their daughter (a baby) to set and everyone is happy to see her but when they start filming their daughter sees austin and olivia kiss which confuses her so she starts calling olivia mommy. angst.

Bringing a 14 month old to set wasn’t necessarily a bad idea. Everyone loved Ines. She was a smiley baby, who slept through the night at 7 months and was happy to be held by anyone when in a good mood.

Ines was a little confused at first when seeing her daddy all dressed up in costume, but she soon realised it was him when looking into his blue eyes- ones that matched hers exactly.

Ines soon became a regular on set, babbling whilst Baz spoke to her daddy, loved being held by Tom and had taken a special liking to Olivia. All of the cast did enjoy having her around.

Since you got pregnant within the first month and a half of filming, everyone felt like a special part of Ines’ life. They were there when you went into labour, when Austin would freak out if you weren’t sitting down after hitting your 36 week mark. They saw it all.

Now with filming almost at an end, Ines was growing faster than the cast and crew liked to see.

Today they were filming Priscilla's first scene. Olivia had unruly curly clip-on bangs and Austin was looking very official in Elvis' army suit. Ines was on your lap as you sat in Austin's chair, his name on the back of it. Baz spoke with the producers as Austin was getting ready to shoot the scene.

You always made sure Ines had her pacifier in whilst they were shooting, a guaranteed way of having no baby noises in the back of the scene. If she ever fussed, you were very quick to leave the sound stage. Ines was very well-behaved though- Austin said she was very good at reading the room and that she knew she had to be quiet.

"Ready to watch Daddy, huh?" You whispered to Ines. Austin was getting last minute makeup done as you looked over to him.

"Dada," Ines pointed over at Austin, a smile on her face.

"Yeah, Nezzie say hi dada?" You showed her how to wave over at Austin, she replicated your gesture.

"Dada!" She called. Austin's eyes looked up and met his daughters.

"Hi my girl," Austin came over from the sound stage to come see you both, "You're getting so big," Austin picked Ines up from your lap. "Gotta stop growing for dad, yeah?"

Ines went to go touch one of the badges on Austin's suit jacket, "Nezzie, no," Austin said softly, shaking his head at her. Ines looked up at him with her big blue eyes, "No touch," Ines nodded, putting her finger back in her mouth. "Good girl," Austin held her close to his chest before placing a kiss on her head.

Baz called out for Austin to come back to the soundstage. "Daddy's gotta go," Austin gave Ines another kiss before handing her back to you. Austin kissed your cheek quickly before heading back ready to shoot the scene.

"Ready Nez?" You kissed her cheek a few times as you bounced her on your knee. Baz called for everyone to be quiet on set, as you popped Ines' pacifier in her mouth.

"Action!" He yelled.

"And then he said to me," Olivia began, taking a deep breath before speaking again, “You know what, Priscilla?" She changed her voice and made it deeper and more gruff. "You gotta listen to me, sweetie, because this guy, he’s got girls all over the world, okay?"

You watched as Olivia and Austin moved around one another, performing the scene that you had read with Austin multiple times before. They were doing great. You and Ines were relatively close to the soundstage so you could see everything that was happening.

The scene finished with Austin and Olivia kissing on the fake windowsill, Baz called cut. Austin came over to get his water from you in between takes, Olivia followed him.

"Oh my gosh, Nezzie! Look out big you're getting," Olivia crouched down in front of you and your daughter. You were very lucky to be so welcomed on set, Olivia often offering to babysit Ines for you both.

"Mama!" Ines shouted, reaching her arms out to Olivia. Your heart dropped a little and Austin stopped rubbing circles on your hand.

"Oh no, baby," Olivia shook her head with a smile, "That's mama," Olivia pointed up to you.

"Mama!" Ines shouted in what seemed to be protest. Austin sighed picking her up.

"She's probably confused," Austin bounced her up and down. You knew that he could tell it had upset you. At the start of your relationship, you had reservations about dating an actor- someone who would be kissing other people as a part of their job. However, overtime you came to adjust.

But now your own daughter was calling someone else her Mom, because she had seen your husband kissing her. "Sees us kiss and then watches the scene, she's just a little take back, hey Nez?" Austin kissed her cheek. "Look at mama," Austin pointed to you. Her eyes followed her dad's finger, but then Ines looked back to Olivia and you felt like crying.

Austin wanted to stay around and comfort you, talk you through how you were feeling, but Baz called him and Olivia back for another take. Austin whispered a soft apology when he had to hand Ines back to you. You heard mutters of Olivia apologising to him, but you knew it wasn't her fault.

You snuck out during that take, heading back to the trailer with Ines. When Olivia realised after the next take that you had left, she felt even worse than before- but Austin assured her that you probably went to feed her. He knew that you hadn't.

You sat in Austin's trailer, trying to shush Ines to sleep for her nap. Soon, she was out and it was just you in there all alone with your thoughts. It wasn't anybodies fault that Ines was confused, she's only a baby. That's what you tried to tell yourself anyway. It wasn't hard to let negative thoughts penetrate your mind.

"Y/N?" You heard Austin's voice from outside the trailer around thirty minutes later, "Baby? I'm gonna come in, okay?" You didn't respond. Austin felt so guilty seeing you sit with small traces of tears glistening over your eyes.

"Hey," You whispered to him. He sighed before coming to sit next to you and a sleeping Ines.

"You know she knows that you're her mom, right?" Austin was still in his cadet outfit, his hair perfectly slicked back. You were about to open your mouth in protest, "No-" Austin stopped you- "She does," He whispered. "Baby, she's just one year old, like freshly one," He chuckled, "She only knows three words!"

"I know, it just-" You sighed- "It really sucked," You looked down at your daughter, who was a carbon copy of Austin. His blonde curls and blue sparkly eyes were all him, but he claimed she looked so much like you- you could never see it.

"I know baby, but she's not used to seeing her daddy kiss people other than her mommy, you know that" He grabbed your hand as you held Ines. You nodded, meeting his eyes. "The other day, she called Tom dad!" He told you with a wide grin, "Funniest thing I've ever seen," Austin recalled, "She's just little, but she knows that we're her mom and dad,"

You closed your eyes for a moment, relishing in the peace between the three of you. "She called Tom dad?" You asked from your spot against Austin's shoulder.

"Well it was more like 'dah', but close enough," He kissed your head with a smile. "She knows that you're her mom, yeah?"

"Yeah," You let out a deep breath that sat on your chest, "She does. Thank you," You looked up at your husband.

"Always," He smiled down at you. You were very lucky to be Ines' mom, just as lucky as you were to be Austin's wife.

Elvis does not necessarily like to give away how he's feeling when it comes to his exhaustion, his pain, his- everything. Sure, he'll let you know when he's angry and when he's happy as can be but when he's stressed or when he's feeling like everything is too much for him? You couldn't pry that out of him with all the bribery in the world. Still, his body- his body has a tendency to give him a way with the noises it produces. You can hear it in the way his knees crack just so or the way his mouth opens in a groan when he stands up to get something from another room. The ones when he sits down though- the groan that sounds like every bit of tension trying to escape him through his mouth? Those tell you just how pent up everything is for him, how much he's in need of some form of release or else it's going to come out as anger at the worst time or just act like a poison in his veins. Being gentle is the way you have to approach this though because you love Elvis lord help you but you do, but he can be skittish when it comes to things like this.

"Buntyn. You feeling alright?" You murmur, inching your body closer to his on the couch. He won't bolt and he won't lie if you're gentle if you take things slow with him. He won't lie if you allow yourself to lean your head against his shoulder, almost as if you want him to wrap his arm around your body and pull you closer into his warm plush body. If you could take away the insecurity once and for all just to allow him to enjoy these simple touches. To him to realized no matter what came to be there was no reason to shirk away. nearly two months since you’d felt his arms around you at the airport, warm whispers in your ear of see you soon and i love you and get home safe and i’ll call you the second i land.

“i missed you, too, sweetheart,” he chuckles in reply, though it’s tinged with worry as he feels you trembling. “hey, you okay?” he murmurs, moving to pull away so he can see your face, gauge how okay you really are.

but you don’t let him, your only reply being a nod of your head into the crook of his neck and a tightening of your arms around him, blinking back the tears pricking at the corners of your eyes as it hits you just how much you needed this. he relaxes, seeming to recognize that he won’t be escaping the circle of your arms anytime soon, instead pulling you closer and murmuring soft i love yous and i missed yous into your ear.

he can ask you about how you’re feeling later — because clearly this goes deeper than a normal long-distance trip — but for now he lets himself relax into your arms, trying to make up for the nearly two month’s worth of hugs that he’s missed from you.

brief immediate mota finale thoughts

Literally every scene involving Rosie was gold. Not just because Nate Mann has consistently knocked it out of the park, but I think he's just had the most incredible arc. This whole series could have been about Rosie Rosenthal specifically and I think barely scratch the surface of how interesting and incredible this man was. Rosie's great character trait is his empathy and righteousness. There was a moment I found mildly chilling, which is where, after having witnessed the atrocities, Rosie gets a line that does step on that line where righteousness turns into zealotry and it's *understandable*, and it's a great counterpoint to Harry's worry about what the war has turned him into. Like, I feel that whole moment is quite ambiguous about where we all fall and tbh I adored it. The writing was great, the intimacy was great and Anthony Boyle and Nate Mann were just absolutely just showing us all how it's done. Both of those boys need accolades for this.

Buck/Bucky broke my heart over and over again. The return of the lucky deuce (that teary face)! Buck telling Bucky with his words that he was glad to have him there these years. Flying home. Austin Butler's face journey when he hears Bucky's voice over the radio. Same buddy, you should have seen me sitting here like CALLUM? I KNOW THOSE VOWELS. THAT'S CALLUM TURNER. You heard me the first time, Gale.

KENNY IN THE PLANE. LOVE THAT FOR ME. Raff Law's perfect little face of awe. I did actually like as well that he fixed up all these planes constantly as instruments of war, with every repair he made representative of danger, injury and death, and then he got to ride in one for the very first time and it's a mission of help. Ken has just been such a quiet joy of a presence throughout. I thought it was lovely to give him the moment with the kids at the end, listening to the radio too. This baby boy of the company was fully older brother. God. I think Ken Lemmons might be my favourite character of all. If I can ever get my hands on good quality vids, I'm making so many gifs. PLEASE GOD LET ME FIND THE BOOK ABOUT HIM.

I do think the Tuskegee airmen were short-changed, I was really hoping for some meatier stuff for them this episode. I understand why they weren't the focus - the focus is on exactly four characters - but I do think a few more scenes wouldn't have gone amiss. I adored the Jefferson/Cleven scene of last episode. Did love the quiet background Macon/DeMarco friendship though.

I mentioned Anthony Boyle earlier, but again, there was some fantastic Croz stuff here. His physicality has changed so much over the course of this show, it's so good.

There's no let up in the horror, but I think a really good blend of that and the catharsis and the celebration. MotA has suffered from pacing problems throughout, and a bit here too, but overall I thought it was balanced and the visual colour returning towards the end. Gorgeous.

If I was Gale Cleven's wife of 51 fucking years I'd be pissed as hell to not even be mentioned in his title card. Jesus Christ. It's fine to have that narrative in the show but I found it very disrespectful, like Marge was his one and only true love? There was room to acknowledge both loves.

butlerfamupdates I actually applaud People Magazine for this. All day magazine’s have posted Austin’s cutest moments with Luci and talked about what a wonderful Dad he is - which no one would ever doubt to think he is - but Luci’s mom is very much present as well and deserves love too. Luci loves both her parents. It’s normal for a kid to have favorites, it doesn’t make the other parent ‘bad.’
