ngl i AM bitter that there's more d*rge/asty content just bc the writer was working on them at the same time. like. i will be forever lamenting the fact that w*ll only has 8.5 hrs of voice lines. and they still added more shit with asty despite that. and now his character is overloaded compared to the others, especially with the d*rge romance. to the point that even if you're not romancing him, somehow he still gets more voice lines than your actual romanced companion. and that fucking sucks. bc every other companion deserves that level of attention too, but ESPECIALLY my babe of the frontiers. who only has 8.5 hrs of voice lines. btw.
like there's so much amazing parallels you could do with a d*rge romance with him. two people struggling and insisting to do the right thing despite external forces constantly punishing them when they disobey. daddy issues. not to mention there's so much stuff that happens with both of them in act 3, his dad getting kidnapped by g*rtash, who was d*rge's former partner in crime. like that's some spicy level of drama right there! and he doesn't even react to the fact that his boyfriend is the mastermind of this whole operation! huh???!!???!
anyways. i love asty's character and they did phenomenal with him. wish all the other origin companions had the same effort poured in bc they all have the potential to be as amazing as him. if only. lmao

BG3 Mini-Comic: They Don’t Belong to You

Ahhh, parallels, my beloved.
Playing a Dark Urge who is a squishy lil' sorcerer, I love the fact that you can choose to say "haha no, fuck what Big Daddy Murder wants" and have your buddies immediately join the 1-v-1 fight in order to win against Orin.
I like to imagine that my durge, Jiril's (she/they) romanced Astarion was particularly proactive about it. The man does not give a shit about rules, only survival.

Sex in a bed:
Boring, predictable, you might need to sleep in the wet spot.
Sex on your undead lovers grave:
Goth, silly, is some sort of symbolism about claiming your own life back, the leg thing.

I've just played through Gortash's coronation with and without Karlach in the party and the difference-
Like when Karlach is in the party Gortash puts on a mask of composure and authority. Durge is still favorite assassin and all, but 'Lord Gortash' needs to maintain presence.
And then it's just Durge in the party and Gortash is a fucking smiling giggly mess. I can't express how freaking giggly he looks at EVERY second of the convo. Literally "blushing, giggling, twirling hair" kind of a vibe.
And WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK is that? How I'm supposed to NOT align with him??? How my Durge is supposed to not be immediately compelled to destroy the world just so this man kept looking at them like that?

//BG3 Spoilers
Hey so if you destroy the SteelWatch and have Karlach with you when you confront Gortash, he puts the blame almost entirely on her and tells Tav/Durge to call her off so they can still work together
(If you show up without her he just yells at you for breaking all of his things before saying he’s going to murder you)
And now I’m stuck here thinking about how 1. He is absolutely aware of how bad having an angry Karlach in the room is for him and is surprisingly willing to forgive Tav/Durge toppling his empire of murder robots to get her off of himself
And 2. Something about him actively making excuses for a Durge because of course I’m thinking about that
Edit: Just to be clear! You still can’t actually side with him- you can tell Karlach to relax, but she’ll initiate combat regardless of dialogue choices

The way Gortash literally stops in the middle of his own goddamn coronation to explain to Durge how they hatched their evil plan together (the evil plan he’s running on the platform of stopping)
Hey, mightn’t the audience three meters away have something to say about this?? HOW did they not hear? Or at least think ‘we’re here to watch a coronation and these 4 complete randoms walk in and you stop the whole thing to have a deep conversation with them in the middle of the room, what the hells is this’
He’s such a disaster

At the time of Gortash's friendship with Durge.
DND CANON LORE HISTORY TIME - WITH ME!! this is all written in DND history
Spoilers for Act III
So Durge at least has to be 33. As of 1492, The Year of Three Ships Sailing when all of the game's events take place. TEN YEARS BEFORE, there was a Grand Duke name Abdel Adrian, who was a Bhaalspawn, although defied all of Bhaal's teachings. He was good. Also 120 years old.
He was killed in 1482, by Viekang, the only other Bhaalspawn. Supposedly. The both died in a fight in the market place streets after Viekang's ambush on the Grand Duke. Unclear who won. One in Slayer form and the other too mangled to tell.
There was another bhaal's chosen after this, Grand Duke Torlin Silvershield. Who shortly died after revealing himself as a Bhaal's Chosen.
Baldur's Gate legislation consists of The Council of Four(4), then their servants The City Officers (5), and then The Baldurian Parliament (50) who are representatives of different districts. 12 parliament were from The Lower City, the rest were Nobles from famous families, Patriars from the Upper City.
Gortash started their alliance 10 years ago. so, 1482. It could've been after this marketplace assault. Hell fucking broke loose in Baldur's Gate and crimed SPIKED. and I mean it. Grand Duke Ulder Ravenguard tried fixing it with his hold on the Watch and The Fist but it made it worse.
The council was highly corrupted and bought off by The Guild, Nine-Fingers Keene.
Gortash and Durge were probably 90% of the crime problem. that's my theory.
1482 was the same year Karlach was sold to Zariel, so her and durge have probably never met before the memory wipe.
Durge's memories are wiped, even of all that Baldurian History. It's fucking crazy to think about. So much was happening they slithered around like eels. I just need you guys to fathom the history with me.
If durge romances wyll, i think his father would hate durge for awhile. The Grand Duke has been through so much shit with Bhaalspawn historically, and looks over the lower city. He was in Elturel when it fell, then got kidnapped again by Gortash and now this bhaalspawn bullshit aGAIN.

wyll asks the dark urge what's it like to be back in baldur's gate, to which you can reply:
"I don't remember it. But I'm afraid of who might remember me."
and he says this:
