Halloween Watchlist 💀🎃 Social Distancing: Dark Was the Night (Movie) - #27

Synopsis: When a logging company decimates a forest in a small town, a sheriff (Kevin Durand) and his deputy (Lukas Haas) must confront the violent and unexplainable events that follow.

My Take: This movie had the usual cliché characters- the couple whose grown apart due to a family tragedy. The cop escaping from the big city for the ease that is small town living and policing, and the characters that believe in the local lore that something nefarious lives in the woods around the town. Despite the cliché characters, the movie did a great job at building suspense and creating a simple explanation for why the town was being terrorized by these mysterious creatures. What I like about this movie is that it doesn’t spend a whole lot of time on the main characters refusing to believe that something out of the ordinary is happening. Yes. There is some normal uncertainty in the beginning, but once the evidence is clear the characters began to act accordingly. The climax of the movie with the battle in the church had me on the edge of my seat and turned out as I hoped and expected. However, the ending scene was an “Oh crap!” moment. You think these characters are safe and out of the woods (no pun intended), but unfortunately, they are not. This was a really good movie, perfect for your Halloween 🎃 watch list.

ALL the comedies I liked like Dads, the one with the blind father, Enlisted just to name a couple of the better ones (& previous to that also S^!+ my dad says ) So let’s HOPE This one stays. Because of losing all my favorites from last year, I was surprised this was coming back for a 2nd season, but quite happy.
