A big part of me not hating my body anymore involves me heavily curating my newsfeeds on social media by liking, reblogging and watching posts by fat femmes trying on clothes, modeling fashions and generally being hot. This has been life changing for me. It shows me representations of my gender orientation and body type in positive, fun ways, and replaces the endless thin people cavalcade that would be awesome to look at if we hadn't all been told that we were worthless if we weren't thin.

I do not at all work for Bloomchic, but god damn it, I would. I love their videos so much, because they show fat femmes from a wide range of sizes, body types and looks. There are just fat, average-by-society's-strict-beauty-standards people modeling dresses and sweaters and skirts, and being cute. It's so affirming and lovely.

Clothing hauls are really fun too. Watch fat femmes trying on outfits and talking about it. I find this algorithem thing works better on Facebook than on tumblr, because I'm not a fat activism blog, but I am a fat activist, so you can catch me at my fat/body positive blog @therealieblog for that content.

I strongly recommend liking, reblogging, video watching, fat women and fems looking hot and cute in lots of little outfits. It's just good for the soul. It's really helped me feel so much more comfortable in my own skin.

It was a cool day a couple of weeks ago.

I decided to put on my plaid flannel overall jumper dress. This is a great outfit. I am wearing a heavyweight knit turtleneck sweater top, the plaid overall jumper dress from Bloomchic, irovy knit tights from Hue, and the vintage brown ballet pumps from Tic Tac Toes.

You always have the best dresses! Were do you get them?

Mostly from my mom. She gives me a new dress for my birthday every year! Sometimes my grandma does, too. Frankly, I think she mostly buys them from Amazon or Ross.

Some of my favorite dresses are from an online store called BloomChic, but it's only size 10 and up. (I wear a size 10-12.) I also have a lot of hand-me-downs and thrifted clothes, and I have a lot of dresses I've been wearing since college or even high school!

Buying clothes online is such a crapshoot—triply so if it’s Bloomchic. I guess 2 out of 5 items fitting isn’t bad, but I guess I had to relearn a lesson or three about being Tall™️ and Round™️ and ordering jumpsuity things that either don’t have adjustable straps or have straps that look functional but are actually a pain in the (Very Large™️) ass :( I guess I could size up but those items really didn’t have any give, so I don’t know if I would have to size up by one or two sizes. Some of their stuff is categorized as “non stretch” but have enough give that they’ll stretch out a little over time; some is extremely non stretch and honestly I don’t know how people live like that. How do you wear clothes that have no room to move?!

However! I have repacked the items that didn’t fit, processed the return, and printed off the return label. I will pack them as soon as I finish writing this lament, and I actually found my packing tape to make sure the label will go on and stay on, and once the snow melts a little bit I can drop it off at the post office. I think I can just drop it off in a slot without actually having to talk to someone? I usually fail at returning things because either the ADHD gets in the way or I’m missing some small but crucial piece of information that other people take for granted as a matter of course.
