I do like a younger seme with no experience. Yay for a boy who does his research and a couple who can't keep their hands (and lips) off each other in the first throws of love and desire. Nice acknowledgment that the first time might not be perfect as well.

Wayne Song makes an excellent sociopath - he can do some mighty fine psychotic eye work. And it turns out that Ep 8 is an Episode of Doom. And Ep 9 is an episode of amnesia. Gah.

I am supposed to be transforming my spare bedroom from the back room of a thrift shop into something habitable for my sister to sleep in tomorrow and yet I CAN'T STOP WATCHING. I'm going to be stuffing things in cupboards and under beds and vacuuming at 2am...

Knight/Princess ship

For this Femslash February, I've decided to go for posts fitting a kind of "1 ship trope I like in 1 ship I like" format.

This time, we're going for a relationship involving a knight and princess, with Rida and Veronica from the Bokura no Kiseki manga!

Like you'd expect from that kind of ship, it's one with a lot of loyalty kink potential. Rida comes from a family of knights that have a tradition of raising their daughters as personal knights for female members of the royal family. So she had been training herself for years knowing that she will eventually enter Veronica's service.

But Veronica is very much not what she expects at first! She has spent a lot of her years as a child studying in a monastery, away from court life, so she doesn't care much for sticking to the stricts etiquette rules & traditions coming with the class differences between royalty and other people. She wants to get in a good, close relationship with Rida in order to make their time together better.

Which includes taking baths and sleeping in the same bed on multiple occasions! And although Rida is more of a stickler for protocol because of her upbringing and is reticent to act out of line, she can't help but be charmed by Veronica and happy that she could get such a close place at her side thanks to her role as her knight. And some scenes made me feel a lot like Rida's loyalty and care for Veronica could be interpreted as having romantic feelings for her.

Now, their story isn't a huge part of Bokura no Kiseki's plot because it's a reincarnation mystery manga with a lot of characters. And their plotline ends in tragedy, since all the characters at Veronica's castle get attacked and killed for mysterious plot reasons linked to the country of Veronica's arranged marriage husband. A mystery that their reincarnated selves in modern day Japan will have to figure out.

So if that's your thing, there's some pretty good angsty pining potential there too in the plot events, be it before the end of their lives, during it or even after.

Oh noes - I've fallen for the side dishes. Ai Di is my little murder mitten and Chen Li is his comfort blankie/straitjacket. I love them.

Ruei and ZongYi are still keeping my interest as well - I can see elements of Jack from HiStory: Trapped in Ruei - he's smiley and his love language is cooking for his baby. I'm also enjoying the fact that every (named) mafia character in the show appears to be gay, including the Boss (and Juan definitely has feels for Teng even if I'm not sure it's reciprocated yet).

Of course I'm worried that our future doctor is not going to be a future doctor because we know he ends up in prison with Ai Di for 4 years and he deserves to be a doctor; he's worked so hard. On the other hand maybe being pampered by his hot, culinary talented lover for the rest of his life will be compensation? It probably would for me.*

It always amazes me how straightforward the girls are in BL. There's no messing about, they just ask their crushes to be their boyfriend. is it like this in the real world? It certainly wasn't when I was at school/uni in the UK - we would rather have DIED.

Honestly I'm kinda obsessed with how bokura no kiseki treats gender. Yeah this teenage boy was a princess in his last life. He is only made fun of for the princess part, not the girl part. How part of Veronica's mannerisms slip out in Minami and he just accepts it. How part of Hiroki's struggles come from ppl treating her differently because her past life was a man. How she feels less capable in her female body because of how she's treated. How characters are explicitly reincarnated to the gender they wanted to be in their past life??? Hello???
