Yes. This is about Scepterno. Of course it's about Scepterno. I am not going to censor his name, because everyone should know what is going on with him.

He has responded to my post about him, where I said he was actively talking about Alenoah nsfw. I am going to respond to that.

This is a serious issue. You want to know why? Because it has been proven multiple times that fiction DOES in fact affect reality. This is a very serious issue. The Total Drama Fandom has a lot of kids in it. Total Drama is a show for children. Children can find your very public blog, see you talking on public about alenoah nsfw, and they will normalize it. You wanna know how I know this? Because I've experienced this myself! Children stumble upon things that they're not supposed to see! You are coming into a space that is filled with minors, because this is a TV show for CHILDREN, and you are talking about these minors characters in a way that is messed up. I am scared for the minors that will see your post.

I am worried about the the fucking children. About the VERY REAL children. And you know what? "Stop torturing yourself with drama that doesnt matter." Then why even address it in the first place? If it doesn't matter, why make a long angry post about it? Fandom is supposed to be a fun place. Fandom is supposed to be where you go and talk about your favorite show and post little things that you think about the media. Me "screaming" and throwing a "tantrum" is because you are coming into this space and making it a nasty place to be. Minors are not safe with you in the space.

Here's my take. People have immoral thoughts about things. That's part of being human. But when you act on said thoughts, and post about it on the internet on your very public blog where everyone can see when they look you up, and you don't even have it tagged or anywhere stated on your blog that you don't want minors following, that's the part that I am shaming. There is something wrong with you for you to post something like that, and not even try to hide it from minor's eyes. I care about the people in this fandom. I am trying to keep people safe from people like you.

Height headcanons are fine. But the fact that you are brining size difference into this? A kink? Yes, you are an adult, I'm a fucking adult. We have things that we are into, but you bringing it into this space where children are, that's where the problem is. I don't get how Apple is the only one who's said to be selfish ngl, yeh she is, I can't deny that but she had as much reason as other's do. I'ma rant cuz Eah tiktok has some tasteless and un-understanding rats that forms Apple hate clubs and with their only reason is Raven and Apple's constant bad decision, while completely ignoring Apple's lore to understand her motives behind them.

1st point: Raven is also selfish.

Yes. While she wanted freedom of choice that included everyone, she was risking lives at the same time by doing so. She did hesitate and consider other's going poof, but she did it anyways knowing that possibility. Good for her that no one went poof but what if they did? By that one risk she was willing to take cuz she wanted her own happily ever after(good for her for wanting it, not shaming, but that's also a selfish decision to risk the lives of others for her own).

One proof of this is Farrah Goodfairy's diary, Spoken to her by another fairy that Cedar's fairygodmother disappeared cuz she didn't want to follow her own destiny, and was told to fix the problem with Ashlynn and Hunter's romance for her to not disappear, which thankfully she didn't because she found a solution to fix it. Although mentioned as a test near the end it was still mentioned that the Cedar's fairy had undeniably disappeared.

So basically, not following ones destiny that has a fairygodmother would make their fairies disappear when their owner(whatever they're called. Partnership?) Decides to not follow their fairytale path.

Point 2: Apple's reasons.

From what I've gathered from her diary, the wiki(although untrustworthy, it's the same story as the other sites I've scouted), and also the series. She's indeed selfish, but she's a child/teenager too. After skipping a class much to Briar's encouragement(friends are like that cuz me too fr fr) and getting caught by the teacher doing so WITH THE STATUS OF BEING THE FUTURE QUEEN OF ALL THE LAND AND HAVING THE MOST IMPORTANT STORY, with expectations placed upon you from the moment you been brought out, and adults like Headmaster Grimm blackmailing you, and your mother constantly nagging you to be at your very best. You will act selfish.

But Apple is not just selfish, she considers her friends, believing that everyone would go poof, and being scared(ptsd of the well) of the uncertainty of an unsecured future. She does care, not only for herself but others. She likes order because it is secure, not just for herself but for the people she'll come to rule. She worked hard for her happily ever after, SHE DID NOT SEE IT JUST AS PASSED DOWN SHE SAW IT AS SOMETHING TO BE EARNED!!!

And she earned that well, following every rule, doing charity works for the school, considering the plans of everyone INCLUDING MADDIE. I WOULDN'T EVEN CONSIDER MADDIE IN A COUNCIL ASIDE FROM TEA TIME, SHE'D DRIVE ME NUTS WITH HER RIDDLES ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S URGENT DAFUQ-

Anyways.

APPLE CARES! SHE DOES STUPID SHID BUT SHE'S TRAUMATIZED FROM THE UNCERTAINTY, THE LACK OF SECURITY, THE HEAVY WEIGHT OF EXPECTATIONS THAT SHE NEEDS TO UPHOLD AND BE ON PAR OR EVEN BE BETTER FOR!

AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, IN THE DRAGON GAMES(CUZ SOMEONE MADE AN EDIT SAYING "I thought she's finally understanding" smth smth like that with the edit consisting of her words from Wonderland saying that she doesn't find evil in Raven then cut to Dragon Games where Apple becomes pushy again towards Raven) HER MOTHER NAGS HER ABOUT RAVEN CUZ APPLES POPULARITY DROPPED! I'M NOT EVEN GONNA INCLUDE HER BEING MANIPULATED TO ANGER AND THREW THAT APPLE BREAKING THE MIRROR. CUZ SHE DIDN'T EVEN WANT THAT TO HAPPEN EITHER, BUT DUE TO UNRESTRAINED ANGER SHE DID AND SHE AT LEAST HAD CONSEQUENCES FOR THAT(Raven getting angry at her).

Point 3: She loves her friends more than the world view she had.

WHAT BICH OR SELFISH PERSON DOES THAT?? 😭

The Ashlynn and Hunter thing, She was devastated. But she cared for Ash too, and when Ash broke up with Hunter because of the pressure she didn't even want that. She wanted her friend to be happy despite her disapproval of their relationship out of worry of what would happen.

She's understanding, but at the same time, still trapped in the world she was cramped into. Which had her confused on Ash dating a rebel.(I found the absolute flabbergasted confusion Apple had with Ashlynn's decision hilarious, bro was genuinely confused). And even with it she preferred her friend to be happy and lets them be.

The only times she gets pushy, as far as I've seen was with Raven. And I don't think it was just because she was a part of her destiny, Apple doesn't use tactics like her mother(what she calls as a little push) but she is pushy in terms of mentioning it.

She only speaks about it to Raven, but she doesn't force her to it. She was even upset at Headmaster Grimm for tricking Raven to sign.

And Raven understands that both their mother's were pushy just by the scene where Apple who was alright with Raven being free from destiny and doing good regardless of popularity, suddenly mention DESTINY again.

And by that what I mean is, the only reason she's THAT pushy with Raven was because Headmaster Grimm Blackmailed her to do it. Yeh she would've been mentioning it to her even without the blackmail but it probably wouldn't be that intensely.

Bro was blackmailed after acting like a normal teenager and she had no choice but to obey unless she wanted to disappoint or embarrass her mother. The thought of wasting the work they did for her and being expected to rule as perfectly as her mother despite the different shade of hair she was birthed with( which made her work further to becoming good enough to earn the title of Snow White and be a good queen to her subjects)

AND THE AUDACITY OF SOMEONE TO COMMENT "And they have to be ruled by her" BISH WHAT YOU MEAN??

BRO DID DUMB STUFF BUT SHE'S PERFECT TO RULE. NOT ONLY THAT HER FRIENDS LOVE HER TOO EVEN WITH STRAINED ALTHOUGH BUILT UP RELATIONSHIPS THEY HAD WITH EACH OTHER.

She ain't even Evil, bro suffered under rules and pressuring adults. (ESPECIALLY THE HEADMASTER, BLACKMAIL?? REALLY?? Snow is an exception, they have a good relationship but some mother's like her just straight up act like that, oh and the duties they need to uphold, that's a plus for Snow's not open-minded world view. But she's not a terrible mother, she's pressuring tho that's for sure.)

That's enough for me. I just got annoyed by the fact that OH LOOK RAVEN'S SO NICE(she is, not saying she isn't) AND APPLE'S A COMPLETE BISH yadayadayada. LIKE HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT HAVING THAT HUGE BURDEN TO CARRY?? What if Raven didn't sign and because of a reckless decision(although cautious, she still did it) everyone started disappearing?? CUZ WHO WOULD KNOW IF THEY WOULD OR NOT DISAPPEAR. And just because of not wanting to risk that to happen Apple was called a selfish bish. THE DRAGON GAMES! YES SHE HAD A SELFISH DECISION! But during the preparation of the floats for thronecoming APPLE HAD A POINT! Raven was Selfish and due to that everyone, not only their stories could go poof!

okay, I thiiiink these are the same person? Probably? Unclear. I'll answer both here, for clarity.

1 - No, I don't talk about potty training stuff on my main, not anymore. I moved those posts here a couple of years ago. The only content that's there are maybe some reblogs from other regressors.

2 - Okay, first of all, age regressors did NOT come up with those terms, nor do they have exclusive rights to use them. Those terms have been used by people for, like, ever. Parents calling their kids "little ones", family members calling out "littles, come over here!" to refer to any younger members, the obvious origins of "mom" and "dad" and their variants, and "caregivers" being tied to both people who care for babies, children, the elderly, and those with disabilities.

If anything, age players have more rights to the terms "littles" and "caregiver" in the context that we're using on this site. They're the ones who originated/popularized them. I know this because I was here, on this site, in 2016, when age regressors decided to split off from the sfw age play community, and there was legitimately tons of discourse about who had the "right" to those terms.

(who here remembers the chire and the other handful of communities that attempted to exclude anyone who liked the parental nicknames and the usage of the word "little" in their regression? I do. god, do I remember. this is the main reason that a lot of old regression blogs specify that they're "community free regression")

Second, I... don't? Tag anything here as ageplay? Everything here is just tagged with omo tags, then with assorted organizational tags - there is nothing here tagged with agere or ageplay - just posts that use the very vague term of "little" and the other term of "caregiver" within the post itself.

(which, I just feel the need to repeat, is a word that even normies use!! my own parents, aunts, and uncles call me and my cousins littles!!! Outside of that, "Littles" is a shared community term!! Littles and Caregivers, as we use them, originated from Dominant Daddy/Mommy and Little Boy/Little Girl - it's the gender neutral version!! Cg/L! Regressors are the ones who decided to keep it!! Because it's vague!! That's intentional!!)

But, yeah, you're allowed to feel your feelings, and, honestly, the fact that you're uncomfortable with the "playing grown-up" tag is something that I anticipated when I made that tag - that it might make people uncomfortable! But, I've been working on making my own boundaries and enforcing them, while not immediately catering to make other people comfortable at the detriment of my own comfort/space.

This is my blog. People didn't like when I put non-sexual omo on my agere blog because it helped me regress. That's okay, and even I became uncomfortable with it after a while, so! I made this blog! It's not my agere blog. It's my soft omo blog. It's nsfw and for adults only. And, only just recently, I decided to take advantage of those two facts and put some other nsfw posts here. I do not want to make yet another sideblog for the handful of "icky" posts I'd like to reblog, especially when this blog is already here.

A nice thing about Tumblr is that tags are now blockable, so if, for some reason, you wanted to follow me still, you'd still be able too view all my other posts while excluding that specific tag. Or you can block me, if you wanted to - you curate your own online experience, and I'll hold no ill will towards you for making sure that you're comfortable and safe.

As for saying thats someone can't be both an age regressor and an age player? Literally what are you talking out????? Huh???? Do you think that adults can't age regress and slip into the mindset of a child while also being capable of, while in adult headspace, in a consensual relationship, roleplay as a child for sexual gratification??? Those are two different things!!! Ageplay is roleplay, and as such, one is capable of adult things! Agere is someone slipping into the headspace of a child!! Healthy communication with one's partner makes it clear what's okay in one headspace and what's okay in the other!!!

I'm not even an ageplayer and even I know that it's possible to do both 😭😭😭 and I just read fanfiction and people's actual blogs!!

As for your sign off, um. Okay? I don't even interact with a.geredips posts and blogs.... even if they're very relevant to me and my regression! Not even with my main!! (I'm also very shy and timid and a bit scared to interact) And, on my main, if people who follow me start breaking people's DNI, I literally softblock or block them - if they can't follow people's boundaries, then they can't interact! I'm just one blog, and I doubt that if anyone wanted to demonize age regressors, they need any help from me - people who deliberately mistag are probably more than enough tbh.

Ageplay and age regression, like it or not, was cut from the same cloth - a cloth made out of a gradient from black to white, with shades of grey all in between. Like a baby blanket! Black/ageplay and ABDL on one side, white/agere on the other, with you and me and my friends and mutuals somewhere in the middle, all spread out across!

Plenty of adults don't think anyone should return to the comfort of childhood things, and look at the whole blanket with scorn and disgust. Cutting off more and more of the blanket, because you think that my grey isn't as palatable as your grey, is not going to change these people's minds. Both of us live in the grey zone, and I personally think that by accepting more of the grey, our baby blanket will be strong enough to handle anything - even and especially people who think our blanket should be torn to shreds.

I feel like the worst thing they ever did to Xavier's character was putting a mild version of him on a pretty popular cartoon and then a movie where Patrick Stewart played him, cuz it made people think the man never goes full-on "the salvations begins and ends with me" pretty early on in his character biography. So when they go to the comics and he's like, a pretty complex character doing bad shit to good people with a straight face on the regular since the 80s, they go "what is this character assassination???"

Like yeah there's been stories where he was the kind voice of reason who could do no wrong, but damn man, that guy's been canonically a "in my house it's clean mutants only" kinda white savior ever since like... the Morlocks popped up. It's a cool exploration of activism from a place of privilege that shouldn't be stifled by people being used to Captain Picard being above those things. That's an adaptation cleaning up messy aspects of the source material, but the source engages with that shit for a reason.

The guy just does what's on his mind as "the kindest thing to do" so often without caring what it does to others that the X-Men didn't even notice he had been replaced by Cassandra as he was monumentally altering their lifestyles by bringing the entire X-Mansion out of the closet on national television without a heads-up or accounting for their opinions, cuz at the end of the day, that's still something he'd do to them, without really minding what it does to their lives. Because in his head, it *is* his X-Men. He means it when he calls them.

People praise Magneto's 40-year-strong character arc from genocidal maniac to symbol of hope on the same breath they basically go "hey I wish Xavier was nicer", yeah that's the point of the character! I wish he was nicer too! Don't implicitly trust your heroes just because you admire them! They're people and people are fucked! Adapt to them or they might take you down a bad path while their idealism turns cynical and their unrealistic dreams turn into realistic replacements for oppression!

It's just a bit frustrating to talk about X-Men as it comes back into the limelight and having people go "I wish the messy character with complicated opinions and too-real politics was simpler like when I was younger." Like... yeah, I get it, but you can't talk about the traps of white people putting themselves above visible minorities as the example to be followed like that. You can't talk about people being thrown in and out of conflict due to imperfect leaders who they slowly stop agreeing with like that. You can't talk about how starting a movement shouldn't elevate you to godhead status like that.

Morrison knew about it and left us clues in their works, I guess is what I'm saying. Even if that story pretty much ruins Magneto, it does bring this side of Xavier to light pretty well. The adaptations making Xavier a perfect activist and a fair and reasonable leader who's always right and only loses when he's tricked doesn't quite have that PROFESSOR XAVIER IS A JERK energy that I find vital to the character.

ofc 😁 i can write some bullet points on the way i see it

keep in mind that i haven’t had time to rewatch the show so maybe some details might be off lmaoo if there's anything i forgot to add u can lmk

i honestly don’t think they’d bully each other at all 😭 i see that more as a headcanon. i know that many people like to think that since nat is an “outcast” and jackie is the stereotypical popular blonde girl, they would pick on each other and stuff, but i disagree. although they do fit those stereotypes in terms of looks, that doesn't necessarily dictate their actions lmaoo.

on the show, you can see that most of the times that jackie was portrayed as a brat or an asshole was through shauna's perspective/narration or when she was calling everybody out for doing weird shit, like when the girls almost killed travis and then pretended that it didn't happen.

the one time i remember jackie being actually mean was when she lashed out and called nat a slut for sleeping with travis instead of getting food, which obviously was wrong because she was in fact mean, but haven’t we all lashed out at someone at some point? that doesn't mean u're a bad person 😭 this explains it more in-depth.

and in general, regardless of jackie's stubborn attitude when adjusting to the wilderness, you can see that she's a very nice person. for example, it's evident when she helped misty put on makeup and told her that she deserves to be loved, or when she gave her last piece of food to shauna cuz she was feeling sick. not only that, but most people also acknowledge that she's a nice person. for instance, when the girls were talking about excluding allie, someone said not to tell jackie about it, probably because she wouldn't be cool with doing that. the coach chose her as the team captain because she influences and motivates people. and when shauna noticed jackie's stubborn behavior after the crash and gave her the pep talk, she said, and i quote, that she “makes people feel like things are gonna be okay just by showing up, and her dumb hot awesome self" lmaoo 😭 that should be enough proof.

as for nat, i have nothing to say other than i think we can all agree with the fact that even though she puts up this strong and aloof facade, on the inside, she's very sweet and caring. despite being labeled as the "outcast" who engages in drugs, drinks, and possibly breaks the rules, it doesn't mean that she's a bully or anything of that sort. most of the times i recall her being mean or acting like an asshole were when she was defending herself because someone else had picked on her first. for instance, when tai would tease her about her addictions or when she threw the alcohol bottle at those guys who were teasing her and her friends, or during that fight with jackie, that jackie started. i know there might be other instances where she lashed out first, but i honestly don't remember right now 😭 nonetheless, i think y'all get what i'm trying to get at lmaoooo. i also don't think she'd bully anyone because she's just not that type of resentful outcasted bitch LMAOO. a proof of this is that she was always against the plan of excluding allie—and then confronted shauna about it at the bonfire when everyone started arguing 🥊🥊 my girl might be bold and blunt but she's mad chill and don't even argue with me about that 🙄

WITH THAT BEING SAID, taking all those things into account, i don't think either of them would bully the other for no reason, as they're not the type of people to go around bullying others for fun. just because nat is your stereotypical alternative rule breaker and jackie is your stereotypical hot popular girl, it's not a good enough reason to believe that they would bully each other.

NOW, let's talk about their relationship.

the initial interactions we witness between them, occurring both in the pilot and throughout the show, involve nat bringing some sense into jackie lmaoo. for instance, in the pilot, when jackie mentioned that allie's wound "might not be as bad as it looks," nat responded, "you could see her fucking bones, jackie." this highlights nat's unwillingness to indulge in jackie's optimistic—and perhaps slightly naive—outlook and shows her straightforward and blunt nature. so, right from the first episode, we start to see the contrast in their personalities.

then, the first direct interaction that we see between them is jackie telling her, "nat, i love that you don't care what anybody thinks, and you're so completely yourself." instead of viewing her as an outcast or teasing her due to her addictions like others do, jackie admires how she doesn't care about people's opinions, probably because jackie herself does care about what others think.

i don't recall seeing many (if any) deep conversations between jackie and nat that highlight their friendship more in-depth out in the wilderness. however, one thing i know for sure is that by the last episodes of the first season, jackie and nat are pretty much the only two team members not buying into lottie's beliefs. even if they did argue and have disagreements, what would have happened if nat had been present in the cabin during jackie and shauna's fight? in my opinion, nat would've definitely defended jackie. i know that there might've been some recent resentment toward jackie cuz she slept with travis the night before, but they share a similar perspective regarding not worshiping lottie, and we know about nat's blunt and outspoken nature, which contrasts with jackie's. nat would've seen jackie struggling without anyone defending her and would certainly voice her thoughts, especially when jackie confronted everyone about nearly killing travis, because nat would've agreed with her. not only that, but she could've even defended her from shauna. although it's technically none of her business, shauna was clearly coming at jackie out of jealousy, and even admitted that she slept with jeff and was pregnant with his baby. not a single person called shauna out on it, letting it slide due to their resentment toward jackie for calling them out on their weird-ass behaviour, but nat wasn't being blinded by that, because she didn't believe in that bs. i just know that nat wouldn't have let that slide. she would've shut shauna's and mari's ass in record time and left the cabin with jackie.

and nat was literally the only one who buried jackie's remains when no one else would, not even shauna, who was consumed by guilt for what happened to jackie.

if nat had intervened, jackie might probably still be alive, and we could've seen more of their friendship. perhaps they would've grown closer or formed an alliance of some sort, but i guess we'll never know 😔

Lots of people doing HOO AUs and that sounds fun so I'm hopping on the band wagon. Starting with TLH! (Note, this would mostly be from Jason's pov, with a few chapters from Leo's and Piper's perspectives. ) Edit: I'm calling this The EagleOwl Swap, after the birds closely associated with Zeus and Athena (Also I have seen a fanart with the seven and birds associated with their godly parents, and I was inspired)

Jason wakes up confused, surrounded by his bestfriend Leo and girlfriend Piper, who he doesn't remember. Everything proceeds normally until their teacher turns into a goat and goes zoo-wee-mama, Leo falls to his death till Jason saves him and Piper acts a bit suspicious. Hmmmm.....

The chariot arrives and in it... is not Annabeth. Not Percy either. Nope. It's... Katie Gardener.

Percy and Annabeth had disappeared a few months ago, and getting a bunch of feral demigods to listen is hard if you're not popular. So all the head cabin members are tired, and Jason was apparently the lead they needed to find them, according to their local oracle. Too bad Jason has zero memories

Camp sequence ensues. Leo fits in like a fish to water, while Jason's mopping around being lonely as there's no one else in his cabin. Till he finds Piper moping a bit Piper's Life Hacks 101: If you don't fit in a grp, just pretend you do; maybe then you would find happiness in this cruel world. Jason finds the life hack to be bs, but Piper's too occupied with other things (foreshadowing) to care about being comfortable

They do the quest to save Hera and coach, and the mission is a mess. Leo is pretty much Elsa but with fire powers, Jason has found out throwing water at enemies then electrocuting them is both effective and fun, so now they have to waste time stealing water bottles from stores or else Jason would pout the entire mission, and Piper discovers Charmspeak for the first time, which makes her scary.

We have Leo trauma-dumping with a smile as he talks about the whole 'mom died in a fire thanks to this weird grass-lady' ending that convo with 'everything's fine, I'm fine' when clearly it's not, your friends can see the pain in your eyes, leo stop holding in the pain-

Piper also trauma dumps about how lonely a child of a celebrity's life is, being piled with expectations, forced to not rock the boat at all, people only sucking up to her cuz everyone knows and wants to be friends with THE Tristan Mclean's daughter, pretending to be something she's not

Which is why she and Leo are best friends, cuz boi has no clue what Hollywood is in the first place, (look he had been running for half his life, cut him some slack) and she finds his jokes funny. (the first)

Jason, is an excellent detective no matter what, and gets suspicious of Piper. "Wait, if you're a people pleaser how did you get sent to the Wilderness School. Minors who repeatedly commit offenses goes to prision, and yet you haven't done anything". "Uhhhhh" , a monster attacks them, saving Piper from almost blowing her cover.

Piper questions her sexuality when she meets the hunters, Leo tries to be supportive, but fails. "Hey, I'm an aromantic, and even I can feel the romance between you and Piper" "...Leo. Never flirt. Ever" ( Fun fact, I said the exact same stuff to someone on behalf of my friend; suffice to say it wasn't my proudest moment)

They're both clueless to the angst stuff happening in the cave. Thalia is struggling to keep it together cuz her baby brother is all grown up and she can't celebrate that becuz he doesn't even know her and that's another person she has to add in the list of "loved one she eventually has to see die becuz she's immortal"

Surprise, as they near the place Hera's trapped, Piper gets revealed that's she been working with the giants to get Jason captured when he was least expecting it cause he's a threat. And Piper would sacrifice Jason, a guy she met like a week ago, for her dad whom which they kidnapped like a few months ago and then blackmailed her to be their spy.

Sike, the giants decides to kill Tristan and the trio instead of just Jason, which was not part of the deal, but Gaea hates Aphrodite and all her kids cuz they are Uranus spawns, and Gaea hates her ex-husband a lot. It's also convenient that two thirds of the trio are part of the prophecy of the Seven, so gotta kill them all. (Pokemon theme plays in the background) (Cuz only Hazel, Frank, Jason and Leo were confirmed to be a part of the Seven, and the other three were added later on )

They free Tristan, but Piper gets captured instead. Jason doesn't want to save her, considering she was willing to kill him off a few minutes ago, but Leo knows how Piper feels, considering Gaea screwed him over as well, who he now is 95% sure was that grass lady that killed his mom, and urges Jason to save them. Even if he's miffed by the fact that Piper got to keep her memories thanks to Gaea's interference intact while Jason and Leo's didn't.

"Wait hold up, so Hera and Gaea messed up my memories? So my friendships are all a lie!" "But that doesn't mean I'm not your friend anymore" Leo starts bawling at that, much to Jason surprise, because he has a friend after so long of being alone (poor boy)

Piper meanwhile regrets everything she has ever done, and not for the first time, considers suicide. But after getting riled up by someone from the shadows telling her she's useless, as a daughter of Aphrodite, she gets reminded of her will to live so that she can one day prove that stuck up manager of her father's that she's more than just a pretty face, and she will prove that manager and the rando in the shadows that she's better than them, basically living through sheer spite baby (Poor Piper, the little smolo blorbo)

They arrive at the place where both Piper and Hera are held. Gaea speaks through that mortal from the shadows (we making her more in this au cuz why not), whch is wayyyyyy more creepy then just talking through their dreams and starts egging Leo on being like "Heyyyyy, ya I did murder your mom" before forcing said mortal she was speaking through to kill themselves. We realise that Gaea has just been picking out random mortals and controllling them as she doesn't have a body herself.

Hera gets freed, Leo overcomes his fire trauma,Piper reedeems herself in Jason's books by reviving him back from the dead. Apparently having a pep talk from Leo and the grief from losing Jason, who is legit her best friend now, can get Piper to unlock her full power of charmspeaking. Leo's just happy he has a home again, with two best friends and a fairy godmother through Hera.

Honestly it's funny when you imagine Jason and Piper learning about Hera putting Leo in fire when he was a baby and being horrified, and he's like it wasn't traumatic, it was a learning experience. Also Hera, in the disguise of a babysitter, gave him ice cream for breakfast when he was five, so she's apparently one of his favourite gods.

Jason was apparently taken from the roman camp in an effort to combine the two camps together after centuries of bloodshed and fighting cuz they need to beat Gaea. So yay, Jason finds out atleast one thing about himself. Hera does promise that he will regain his memories when he finds the roman camp, which she doesn't disclose the location of.

Also piper was never intended to be part of the seven in the first place, but becuz she tagged along and put herself within Hera's radar and has a pretty nice power that would be very helpful, she gets put in the prophecy as well, so yay, she finally feels included for the first time in a very looooong time

Also at the begging of Leo, who is Hera's favoruite, decides to be a bit more helpful and give one more info: Annabeth's at the roman camp, and she also reveals that she intially took Percy first to represent the greeks, but he went missing after two days for some reason, so she took annabeth.

Oh in this au Piper and Leo do not become cabin heads, cause they are too busy saving the world to try to lead a cabin, also Piper finally fits in camp cuz she goes against her hollywood teachings and talks back at Drew, showing her true self after a long time. Hephastus cabin does not have that curse of not taking things able to work, but they do find the secret cabin. And they start preparing to go to the roman camp.

Your post about unfollowing people who’re really combative online made me think about someone in particular. Apologies if this is out of nowhere so feel free to ignore.

If somebody (with thousands of followers) who isn’t a part of a specific marginalised group habitually seeks out bad takes regarding them to dunk on, isn’t that a little weird? I’m not talking about defending your friends when they’re facing discrimination or dunking on the main bigot character of the day, but regularly seeking out bad takes from small accounts that’d otherwise never seen the light of day.

It’s nobody on here I’m referencing. I feel a little crazy because this person gets heralded as a huge ally and has a lot of people in this marginalised group who’re really devoted to and defensive of them but it just really rubs me the wrong way because they seem really discourse-brained more than anything else.

yeah haha ironically i think some of the ppl on that post are seriously missing the point (which i probably could have made clearer) in terms of some of them are like. people who clearly think being told they're racist is the same as the type of behavior i'm talking about.

but also yes! this is more what i meant- people who are seeking out fights with those who would otherwise never get any attention! especially when it's takes that are NOT popular or the response is just totally disproportionate. or just building a social media brand off of over-exaggerated hatred/meanness towards people who "deserve it". it reminds me of all the cis people on here who constantly reblog shit about like... putting terfs in meat grinders but then never even lift a finger (or, more likely, are part of the mob) when trans women are sexually harassed or viciously bullied.

i don't think joking about harming bigots is some grand moral wrong, but it's often just gratuitous in a way where... are you actually expressing outrage or are you using the performance of outrage to get followers? what if that outrage is directly putting people in danger (e.g, if you find a terf with 45 followers + start sending her death threats, is that helping anyone or is it potentially provoking more violence, which you know full well you will NOT be the primary target of). i can see how this behavior can result in members of certain groups defending you, because if nobody has shown their willingness to defend you, isn't it refreshing to see someone who will? it's not so simple, either, cuz i do think ppl who do this do CARE, but i'm not sure the way that they care is sustainable or would hold up to a real, complex situation where allyship is needed.

it's so contextual + i'm not arrogant enough to pretend like i'm the one who can see the context right 100% of the time. this is a little sappy but i feel like the difference is whether the root of the anger is love/hope or if its fulfilling your own desire to lash out/release tension/look good. like "i'm pissed because i care about my trans siblings + it hurts me to see them treated this way + nobody else is saying shit for them so i'm stepping up" vs "raging online meets a need in me that i'm not willing to acknowledge + here's the perfect target". not exactly that simple but sometimes u can tell someone would be a kiwifarms bro if they didn't need social capital from a different crowd, ykwim (which btw we regularly learn that certain leftists will comb through + disseminate kiwifarms shit if it fits their vibe, which is an automatic red flag to me that you only care about drama, not morals)

it reminds me of how some "callouts" are clearly written with the intention of preventing harmful people from maintaining the power to do more harm (e.g x popular artist sexts underage fans) while many others are clearly written with glee about someone turning out to be Bad (e.g x popular artist has a private twitter that i, op, SCROUNGED to find, where they say horny things about genshin impact characters)

Given the fact that we were talking about our perceptions of certain kinds of ships in regards to Stein and how they suit or do not suit his character, how do you feel about smut/the relationship dynamics within Stein x character smut fics?

All righty then...! Here comes a very long rambling of my headcanons about Stein, his two primary relationships, and his relationship with those deeper intimacies. This takes some turns before it gets to the main point but well, I love talking about this man. Extremely long post under the cut.

Also - there are two blogs I tag at the very end of this post - you two feel free to ignore all my ramblings, just know I praise you both at the end and I still re-read your Soul Eater stories VERY regularly.

I'm truthfully still trying to reorganize my thoughts on this specific topic because 1) I have listened to many a headcanon from others on the subject and I always try to give validity to their thoughts even when they differ from mine, and 2) I've also read tons of smut fic with Stein out of sheer desperation for...well, Stein fic. (Come on Stein fandom where you at? Write me some gen fic too, lol)

I have not read too many fics of him with Marie cuz those always contain manga spoilers so I'm skipping those for now until I finish reading (exactly halfway through!). So what I've read is mostly Stein/Spirit smuts and just a couple with Marie, and I want to say….almost zero?? I think zero of those fics (and boy I've read plenty) have "hit the spot" in terms of what I would want for a Stein smut. They're good stories, in some cases great stories, well-written and thoughtfully conceived, but they're not fitting my headcanons and interpretations of who I see onscreen (and who I see in the manga so far).

All that said now… Some of my own relevant headcanons for him, and then I'll get more into fic of others.

I go back and forth toying with the idea that Stein experimented with intimacy just a little as a teen. He's not immune to puberty and hormones; he's human whether he likes it or not, which isn't to say mind over matter doesn't work for him. (Clearly it does, in staving off madness among other things.) But he's a scientist. He's curious. And I can see him justifying an experiment or two in his teen years. But they would in fact be just that, experiments. It's still a big maybe. I can't say for certain he would, it's the sort of thing like…if all the dots line up just right, he'd attempt it. If not, he wouldn't. And it would only be with those two people: Marie and/or Spirit. He doesn't trust anyone else enough. (Yes, I'm on board with the popular fanon that Marie was one of his other weapon partners after Spirit.)

Another teen headcanon... I can also easily see a sort of angsty distraction possibility for him. When he loses Spirit to Kami, I can see him getting into a "romantic" relationship with Marie as sheer distraction, and even misguided retaliation. Spirit "cheated" on him with another meister and abandoned him, so why shouldn't he do the same with another weapon? Which sucks for Marie but well she's not healthy about relationships any more than Stein or Spirit are. But this is just another sort of maybe-thought; another situation where all the dots would have to line up just right for him to go for it. But I can see it, no question, just like the prior thought.

As for Stein as an adult, at the point we see him in the show… While I think relationally he and Spirit have the most interesting dynamic to explore, the one he shows more openness toward is Marie. It's clear that he cares for her. And he doesn't fully understand that either. Now I don't think he wants to get into bed with her, or marry her, or anything traditional to a romance. But I also don't think Marie is going anywhere. Thinking post-anime now…. Unless he gives her a sign that there is nothing between them, I think she's staying put. But sadly for her, I think there is something between them... Sadly because, Stein doesn't know what it is, and it's not "love" the way that Marie wants it. It's just something he's unfamiliar with. Meanwhile she's devoted to him, poor woman.

Now, end of the anime… Let's talk about this…. Marie helps him back to sanity with her healing wavelength. But…then he's just "okay"? No he isn't. Look at that man. His dark circles are darker, his eyes are more haunted. That man has been living off madness and cigarettes for weeks. When is the last time he ate anything? Showered? Legitimately got any sleep?? How he's even standing up let alone fighting Medusa is beyond me, and then he performs freaking major surgery and then waltzes into the death room afterward like he's fine. Because...that's who Stein is.

Stein will fight until he is incapable of fighting anymore, to serve those he loves. Yes I said loves. And it is agonizing how much he strives to show his love for others, and it's something he doesn't even realize he has within him. He thinks he can't understand love? It's because he feels it so deeply and passionately it's beyond definition. Part of this however I'm also certain is motivated from his deep desire for purpose as an adult. The manga shows that aspect of his character even more-so than the anime (in what I've read so far). That man is desperate for purpose and to belong somewhere, with someone. He can't escape his human nature even if he doesn't understand it, can't define it, and even though it drives him crazy all on its own…

So bringing this back to Marie… End of the anime. I don't think Marie is leaving. She's gonna stay, help nurse Stein back to health and sanity despite his pretending he's fine (or perhaps even sheer ignorance of his condition), and Stein…is gonna be confused the whole dang time about his feelings for Marie. He knows he feels something but he has no idea what it is or how to process it. But "love" in the romantic sense he doesn't possibly consider, because well...his conceptions of that sort of thing aren't based in anything healthy (see: Spirit's relationships).

So yeah… She's not leaving. He won't reject her attentions because he does care about her, just not in a way he understands and also not in the way she wants. And as she starts to realize that he has some kind of feeling for her, I think she'd turn up the romance and she'd make a move on him. OR…she'd play the extremely...long...patient game, and wait for him to make a move on her, when it's within his comfort zone. And let me be clear… This man still does not know what love is in this traditional sense, does not understand love. He knows what physical attraction and hormones are and darn him he can't shake those either, but as an adult he wouldn't act impulsively on them nor would he confuse them with love. Stein is the ultimate master of mind over matter. If he were to sleep with her, it would be a choice; a decision he makes consciously and deliberately. I see this within the realms of possibility. But if he chooses it himself, if he's the one who makes that decision simply out of his wanting to…it would be a long, long time that that woman is waiting for him. But I do think it possible. The question is simply, how long will she wait. And she's also the type to try to stir things up (see: her behavior toward Joe in the manga). So who knows when they may end up in bed together... These dots are more complicated to align than those of his teenage years. And if Marie made the move first...I think he'd accept it. Because, see again, his wanting to belong with someone, and he knows he feels something different with Marie.

As for Spirit, well... Stein sees that Spirit likes women. And Stein sees that Spirit can't commit. I think Stein "loves" Spirit more than he loves Marie. First love, young love... Spirit is the relationship of his life, even though that's yet another thing he cannot possibly understand. I think that while part of him, the mad obsessive part, and the curious part, does want to be close to Spirit in the intimate way…it's not out of a healthy desire or even typical motivations. It would come from a desire to possess, from his deeply human but inexplicable yearning to be closer to the one he loves even though it's not the right type of love for that type of intimacy. Not really sure Spirit would be all-in if Stein were to make the move... I think Spirit would take persuading. It's another circumstance where all the dots have to line up just right, and in this case probably more while caught up in madness than in sanity. Because as previously mentioned… In his right mind, Stein knows that Spirit likes women and more importantly that Spirit cannot commit. And he's ironically smart enough to know not to attempt a traditional human romance with someone who cannot commit. I don't think Stein would himself attempt intimacy with Spirit in his right mind at all, unless something happened to make him utterly desperate not to lose the man... Another instance of, all those dots have to connect.

But ugh, the angst. Spirit abandoned him after five years... Stein is not going to willingly subject himself to possible heartbreak again. Plus, he does not think Spirit has forgiven him for the "experiments." I think he thinks Spirit only hangs around him now as an adult as his handler, despite desperately wanting his friendship again. But I think he figures it's a lost cause so he just takes what is offered and never pursues more.

Okay but before I digress further into my endless thoughts about Stein's and Spirit's relationship (I'll do another post for that maybe), back to the point of your question.

I am really not one for labels, partially because I don't understand them but also because I think the spectrum is just so deep and too much defies definition. But if I were to label him, I guess I'd go with...gray ace with demi leanings…?

The man is driven only by curiosity, about anything and everything. But the level of intimacy we're talking about is more than he ever wants to trust anyone with. It's always gotta be on his terms, and more often than not…his terms would be unhealthy.

So let's talk about what shows up in fanfic, since that was what the original question was about. And once again, I like to lend validity to everyone's interpretation. Just because it isn't mine doesn't mean it's wrong or shouldn't exist. But you did ask about MY thoughts, so that's what I'm sharing here.

Once again, I've barely touched Stein/Marie fic because I'm avoiding manga spoilers. In the one or two I've seen, he comes across as not connecting emotionally in the typical way, but knowing that there is indeed something different about being with her. He knows she cares about him, and he cares in return. But it doesn't come across as anything intimate on his side of it. This isn't a characterization I particularly like, because Stein as an adult... As I said, I think he'd choose that intimacy if and when he wants it. In the stories, it comes across more as him just doing her a favor, just going along. It doesn't sit right. But like I said, that's only two stories. For other Stein/Marie, I reserve opinion for later.

Stein/Spirit... Okay. I've noticed a great many commonalities in the fics I've read. And this isn't a taste or preference thing; like I said I have devoured almost every smut fic just in desperation for any fanfic of them. Would prefer more gen fic less smut personally, but anyway.

Most fics have Stein in the dominant role, Spirit in the submissive role. I understand that interpretation but it's not how I see them. I see them as equals if they were to get into that type of intimacy. There is often a lot of bloodplay, frequently madness on Stein's part, major instances of non-con, pet play, BDSM, sometimes light cannibalism... It all suggests an impersonal and unhealthy relationship most of the time, which again...is not at all how I see them if they were to become a couple. Could such things come about? Unhealthily, possibly. But darn me and my desire for happy endings.

These two men are so broken, that if they were to become a healthy couple...I feel like it would be slow, cautious...extremely hesitant. There is extreme distrust on both sides, and also misconceptions about how the other feels. Which...I will save that analysis for later. Focusing back on smut fic.

I have seen only a few that touch on the give and take in a trusting relationship (all by the same author) that come closest to what I feel is accurate to the characters onscreen as I see them, but still the emphasis is too much on lust. It still isn't hitting the spot for me due to a lack of that relational development... Make no mistake, the stories are great, but I personally am hoping for something much deeper.

In my view, Stein just does not seek out physical intimacy in that way. I don't think he can fully escape the innate human need for touch, but in terms of a drive to get into bed with anyone... I think the occasional human desire for it crops up, and he easily ignores it/packs it away because it's not useful to him. It doesn't bother him. He doesn't think about it.

So this is where that...gray-ace, demi vibe comes into play for my view of him. Talking about Stein here as an adult and in control of himself, not consumed by madness... This is I supposed a bit of a summation of my thoughts.

If he did get into a relationship with anyone (and again I think his only choices are Spirit and Marie), it would not be based on the physical at all. I also don't think he would rush into any relationship. It would be a long process before he trusted the person enough to consider them a romantic partner. And really, we could get away from the word romance entirely... Life-partner is a better word, in Stein's case. If the person wanted physical intimacies, I think he would be responsive to that. The other person would be in the lead, but in no way dominating. It would have to be an equal trust thing or else Stein would nope out hard. Stein would gradually learn what it is he likes physically, and how to give his partner what they want. He can come to enjoy it because this is his life-partner, the one he belongs with, the one who needs him and is part of his purpose. But again...the physical is not something that drives him at all. Not in how I see him portrayed onscreen or in the manga.

So, overall, in my point of view nearly all smut fics miss the mark. Now...the stories I've seen where I think the physical intimacy is nailed don't even get to smut. Those are the stories by @asymmetryestablished (AO3 NothingSoDivine) and their characterizations of Stein and Spirit defy description in any words I have. The other author who nails it is @wispforever (same on AO3) and the closest to physical intimacy they get is dancing, but my gosh still the characterizations are utter perfection. I will be re-reading y'all's Stein/Spirit stories forever.

I hope I did in fact answer your question, but overall, I was delighted to just spill out so many of my thoughts about Stein even if in summary form. Yes this was a summary... Okay. I'm done. Thanks.

But really, it feels like such an odd writing decision to focus on them so much if they're just meant to be a bit and they don't want to progress their relationship further. Like it's not like that's what people prefer. Sure, there's a minority who would want only that forever but then it's just pleasing a tiny crowd which could drive others away. It just feels like it wouldn't worth going through so much trouble with them all for that

Like, logically if they put so much emphasis on them and tease the hell out of us with things like the end of wotfi23, forced hold hands, elevator, the god damn titanic scene, squidbob34, Perfect, them bitches always being next to each other, like you'll find them mostly next to each other in most scenes they're present in

like, logically, LOGICALLY, this shit's supposed to become more than a god damn bit. Why would you put so much in a ship, the actual like, majority of your fanbase doesn't really care as much about (see: that one youtube ship popularity poll on another yt channel) and some (although a minority) even despise and call the idea of making it canon the end of the world

then again it would be really funny if they didn't make them canon on camera, we'd just see kiss them in the background while other characters get focus. Like Idk, maybe some random characters we don't see enough, getting together in 3's cafe and like. In the background we see 4 walk over to the counter and very clearly kiss 3 and then them talking. But like they aren't the focus so imagine people actually missing it LJLKLFFL

imagine being a shipper, missing the scene and then losing your shit when people post screenshots of them kissing and you have to go back and check and lose your shit even more

Look I don't technically belong in this conversation because I have neither the time nor the resilience to actually watch the CR campaigns beyond the live tweets, but I feel like the anger about bringing past campaigns' characters in is kind of...missing a few good points?

Like the event that they're going through right now has deep roots in previous story arcs, and it also has dire worldwide consequences if it pops off. I feel like it would be absolutely unimaginable to have two groups of insanely connected, knowledgeable, powerful people who do still exist in this same world and time just...not care or be involved. And sure, it could feel like trotting out the popular characters over the new guys, but VM and M9 have been background support when they've actually been around. It's only now when things are Serious and Bad that they're here being active participants, and they have in no way turned it on easy mode, as is evidenced by one of the most powerful previous PCs nearly getting absolutely killed the moment they showed up.

And looking at it from a different perspective, just because the Hells are the new guys doesn't mean their story is made negligible by these big overtures. If anything, it's highlighting that yeah, sometimes people absolutely are not prepared for bad shit that happens. They aren't equal to the task they face. But that doesn't mean that they don't matter, that their choices don't matter, that they can't make a difference. Obviously can't speak to the full sweep of the story arc until it all shakes out but I feel like seeing what happens to the littler guys living through a huge fuckin event is valid and worthy.

Plus, I mean, they did say multiple times at the beginning of this campaign that it wasn't going to go as expected, there would be surprises, don't think you know how it's gonna go. Just cuz it's already been weird doesn't mean it's done being weird.

y'know when you read something ages ago and didn't think of it for many years, then try to get into that thing again - hp, only severus and remus related stuff tbh - and you find out the fandom is even more idiotic than you remember, by "fandom" meaning the marauders fans?

your last post made me remember how i'm still in shock people have this newfound fascination with regulus, invent crazy narratives where they basically give him severus' entire character's story, some even go as far as to disappear severus' from their aus, all in favor of giving regulus the space severus had as an spy, AND TEACHER EVEN! i just don't get it. instead of analyzing severus' character to try and understand even the things they don't like about him, they create a whole personality for a character with no real scenes in the stories, while trying to paint him as holy perfect, like he wasn't a black and sirius' kid brother; he wasn't going to be mr. kindness and perfection, no one in that sick family was.

i just? don't understand this wave of hp fans, if the source material is too much to work with, with what it has to offer, then maybe read another book series, a more sugar coated teenage book series? idk. i hate r*wling. i understand being apprehensive of the canon, but i don't like nothing they come up with. it's all the same corny shit but they paint everyone as goodie two shoes and completely ignore their wrongs, minus' severus'. severus can't be forgiven for his mistakes even though he was a child as well when he made them. i feel like the hp fanbase went even more to shit 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yep, and whenever we call them out, 90% of the them they would reply with : Fuck the canon. Which is funny cuz they refuse to stop dogshitting on canon!Severus. I found a character poll on twitter few weeks ago and I can't believe so many marauder fans were shocked that Severus is more popular than Barty and Rosier. Bitch, they were irrelevant 99% of the time of the whole series.

Someone even asked them : Why would Rosier and Barty be more popular than Severus when they were barely there in the book? And they replied : Because they're hot.

Yup. They will fake anyone's whole personality and backgrounds as long as they're 'hot'. And they're not even hot, FANCAST DOESN'T COUNT. They don't give a fuck if someone was a death eater, they never did. (they use this excuse a lot to hate on Severus) God forbid ugly people exist. Marauder fans give me high school mean girl vibe.

After all this time?" "Always" lmaooooo.

While trying to paint him as holy perfect, like he wasn't a black and Sirius' kid brother.

They choose to ignore the fact that Regulus Black gave 0 fuck about Muggleborns getting tortured and killed. The only reason he changed sides was because Voldemort tried to hurt Kreacher, someone he genuinely cared about. Sounds a bit familiar to you? Yep, he got the same reasoning as Severus. But one got unnecessary hate while the other was glorified. Ironic.

I've seen too many marauder fans defending the sexual assault during SWM. At this point, they're not even trying to 'ignore' their wrongdoings, it is the opposite actually. They're literally enabling bullying and sa which is hella disgusting.

And you're right, op. The fandom is getting shittier and shittier each day. This is why I refuse to interact with anyone outside of Snapedom.

Why are you only going after one influencer and not all the other white people invited to the event? Or better yet, why not go after AMC directly? They're the ones doing the blatant discrimination. This Maven person has no access other than what AMC gave her. They're the ones to blame for putting on a sham contest and pretending everyone had a fair shot when that was obviously not the case. It was all a big publicity stunt and they knew who would win from the start.

BTW the other three white women chosen for the event have stayed suspiciously silent on this gross discrimination they benefited from. They were happy to collect their ticket and didn't care. But I don't see you taking them to task. Is it because they're popular and have massive followings and you know you'd get absolutely destroyed if you tried to go against them? Maven makes for an easier target, right? Most show fans already hate her so it was an easy win for you.

The truth is that you're a massive hypocrite and everyone can see that now. I thought you were better than that. I'm disappointed. If you practiced what you preach you'd stop watching the show and stop giving any money to AMC. The contest is just more proof they don't give a fig about their non-white audience. This took me far too long because I couldn't find images dating back to the early 2000s that didn't look like it was photographed with a potato. Why is it easier to find high res images of older b/w movies ?

btw not spoiler free- so if you intend to watch this movie at any point in time, stop reading about halfway through cuz I talk about how the story ends.

Anyway, I give you---- my favorite girl bonding movie:

Shimotsuma Monogatari aka Kamikaze Girls

Gothic Lolita Momoko ends up in cabbage country away from all the amenities she holds dear to her hedonistic french rococo heart. She meets a bosozoku girl named Ichiko/Ichigo at a time when yankee/bosozoku were considered oldstyle and uncool. Ichigo kinda head butts her way into Momoko's life.

So I have a hard time relating to any sort of western style bonding movie, male or female, despite growing up in the US. I just... there was always something off about it. I hated the attitudes the kids had about their parents. I hated the kids. I hated the way they expressed their disillusionment. I couldn't relate to their dreams, their daily desires, or even their interactions with their own friends. Everything about these movies were an active turn off for me.

And then I came across 2 live action japanese movies that came out around the same time that was like having the sun come out for the first time because there it was -- not one, but TWO movies that spoke to me regarding coming of age and what it means to figure yourself out as a person.

For male-centered movie, it was the live action Ping Pong movie, based off Taiyo Matsumoto's manga Ping Pong. About two boys "sun" and "moon" trying to figure out who they are in relation to each other and to competition/talent/hardwork/actual dreams. While against the backdrop of competitive school ping pong where they face opponents that are attempting to figure out the same things bout themselves.

On the female-centric side was Kamikaze Girls which features a girl who's a self-obsessed french-rococo aesthetic loner, and a biker-gangster who's actually very group oriented despite being alone much of the time. They're both from subcultures that are fading from popularity -- and were even considered lame - stuck in the middle of an incredibly rural area (so rural they only have one Tesco as their main shopping center --- think walmart), and just... trying to figure themselves out.

Ultimately, both films are about finding the strength to be yourself not just amongst others who pressure you in other directions -- but also to have the strength to do so while you are completely alone. And on the flip side, strength is also being able to find and accept community and friendship where ever you are, from whoever you feel kinship with, even if they are a rival or traveling in completely different circles or trajectories in life.

All this while packaged in an aesthetic and gender sensibility that stressed balance between polar opposites -- where one friend was masc and the other femme and how both could balance each other or come together while retaining their individual goals and dreams and concepts of personhood.

So for Kamikaze Girls - since the question was about my favorite female characters:

Ichigo and Momoko were reflections of twin obsessions I had at the time with gothic lolita and yankee subcultures. One of the girls had a love line while the other had no interest in such things. One girl only cared about her hobbies while the other only wanted freedom and friends. In the end they find what they wanted and more. They both let go of things they thought were important to themselves -- to help each other. But without sacrificing who they are at their cores.

Ichigo realizes she too have Momoko's strength to go it alone.

Momoko realizes she doesn't hate people as much as she thought and she too needs community.

They're both willing to sacrifice for each other in the way the other person needs. Ichigo gives up her group to support Momoko.

Momoko gives up on being clean and alone and gets into a massive drag down fight in the mud with a group of gang girls.

They both ride off into the sunset together on a souped up pink motorbike/scooter.

To this day, I have yet to find any other coming of age stories that I have related to as strongly.

(btw this is where the brand Baby The Stars Shine Bright became famous)

Also, this is where I first discovered Anna Tsuchiya and became a quick fan of hers. They day she and Shiina Ringo collaborated was like rocker-turned-actor heaven for me.

My overall opinion is that lab created gems are awesome :D Lab created sapphires have been around since the early 1900's and the fact that we can create gemstones is a testament to just how awesome human spirit and ingenuity and curiosity really is. There are many stones like cubic zirconia which exist in the market only as lab created. Moissanite, an increasingly-popular alternative for diamond, is only lab created, it does not exist in nature--we made it, which is so fucking cool.

Lab created stones are almost always less expensive than mined, so they're a good option for people who want the look, but don't care about appreciating/maintaining value over time.

That's the hitch. Most lab created stones are not worth anything in terms of resale or appraisal and basically the whole jewerly industry is really conflicted about lab diamonds. When it comes to colored stones, there's usually a way to tell if it's lab or natural. The color is just a little too perfect, the stone is just a little too clear, that kind of thing. With lab diamonds, it's next to impossible and while that is very cool, it's easier than ever for people to be deceived about what they are buying. The jewelry (and watch) industry is very slow to adapt, a lot of emotional AND monetary value is placed on things being done "properly" or in the traditional way, but it IS adapting. It just takes time.

Personally, and I'll speak for Alfred also, I have no problem with lab created stones of any kind as long as they are properly disclosed and that people understand the pros and cons of natural vs lab created gems.

However, Alfred would have no use for lab created stones on a personal level; he wouldn't target them. They are very cool and make things more affordable, but on an industry level, they are just not worth much.

Cuz that's the real kicker. It's AWESOME that we have basically alchemical technology available to us and mining can truly be a terrible process both on an environment and a human level and that needs to change...

but natural stones will always be worth something more to us because there is nothing that compares to the majesty of Earth boiling and roiling and cracking and breaking and steaming and baking and beating and cooling and compressing and crushing its elements over hundreds and thousands and millions of years to produce and bring to the surface something functionally useless to most life but so beautiful that humans have been fascinated by them since the dawn of our species... and that we figured out how to pull them from the earth and create something else beautiful with them... there's really something deeply compelling there. Something fundamental to what makes us human, I think.

And Alfred is a romantic... so I think he'd agree.
