Do you ever think about how perfectly the three house leaders embody the concepts of "past, present, future"? At least in Houses, it gets a little more muddled in Hopes
Dimitri heavily embodies the past and the way it can drag you down. He forgets the importance of the present and even when going to the officer's academy, he's only going to get access to church records to investigate the tragedy of Duscur, as evidenced by that one event where Dedue and Byleth happen upon him researching late at night in the library and he's investigating Arundel. Even by the end of Azure Moon, he's still not thinking about the future, only putting a stop the the present cruelty and focusing on trying to help that girl he knew in the past until he realizes he can't. It's not until the very end of the game that he breaks from the shackles of his past, but he's also never 100% in the present due to, in Azure Moon, the past never 100% being demystified, as shown by how those who slither in the dark are only eradicated in specific epilogues if you recruited the right characters + bought the DLC.
Edelgard easily represents the present. Her entire focus is on the events of her lifetime and the conclusions she came to based only on (incorrect) past and present information. She came to a conclusion very young and never waivered from it nor investigated it further and only looks towards fixing the problems of the present. The present is built upon by the past, and she perfectly shows that by holding onto past facts to influence the present, but she does not consider the long term future. A youtube video I watched but can't remember the channel name for (I will edit it in as a link if I can remember it) once pointed out that with a merit based appointment system, it'll fall apart as soon as Edelgard is gone and no longer there to maintain it. Not to mention that, like Azure Moon, Crimson Flower has the same issue of only borderline mentioning those who slither in the dark's ultimate demise, and we don't even get a satisfactory ending to that in Crimson Flower. (Side note, Silver Snow is better abut this but is not entirely relevant as that is a Lordless route).
Claude meanwhile is always looking towards the future, informed well by the past and present. He is, of course, aware and affected by the past and present, but like the future itself uses it to build the road to tomorrow. And unlike Dimitri and Edelgard, who have a single minded focus and don't plan for backups, understands that there's no guarantees in anything and is always planning contingencies when he can. And because the future is built from the past and present, he's also the character who most seeks out to demystify them in order to build that future, because even if you don't know a past event, it will still have ripple effect into the future. It's what makes it very important that, unlike Dimitri and Edelgard, Claude steps down from leadership of Fódlan entirely once he uncovers the full truth and realizes that, for all intents and purposes, his type of leadership isn't needed in Fódlan after what it went through and that his next best step is to go back to Almyra and start the next steps there. In fact, in Verdant Wind, they actually almost entirely take care of those who slither in the dark with the only remaining one being Cornelia, but even THEN he had a contingency when he came back to save Fódlan with the Almyran army in the epilogue. Even in other routes, he manages to always perfectly plan for both his demise and his victory, culminating (outside his own path) in Crimson Flower where he plans for his own death. He never stops thinking about the different twists and turns the future can take and plans for it.
This ended up a little bit Claude heavier but to be fair, he usually gives me more to think about.

random DLC story trailer thoughts
honestly happy we're getting more of marika and how the golden order came to be, especially since the origins seem to be pretty Fucked Up. the more fucked up marika is, the better, please just let her have done massively fucked up things without any "oh well it was for the greater good" handwringing, i would genuinely love that
i'm sorry but i can't take messmer seriously, he looks so fucking stupid to me. everything he wears from his helmet to his greaves look like they're too big for him, he looks like a kid playing dress-up
(also i'm sorry but i'm already fed up with seeing him everywhere)
marika crushing an omen/crucible-related civilization, locking everything that remains in a hidden realm? no wonder she wants omen gone and hidden, they're a reminder of what she did (and also proof that she can't just lock them away and be done with it, more will always be born - even through her own body)
reaching a bit, but i do wonder if hewg is originally from the "shadow realm" - it would explain why he fears marika so much, having perhaps witnessed what she did
my theory/prediction is that radagon did not exist yet back at the time shown in the story trailer, that marika was cursed by the giant wickermen (or whoever were controlling them) after she used them to crush the omen/crucible civilization and then abandoned them and imprisoned them in the shadow realm, and she then separated the cursed part of her self into a separate body, which became radagon
if the person in black, surrounded by flames, is the gloam-eyed queen like a lot of people theorize, it would explain why she went on her godslaying spree. i always theorized that the GEQ was marika's sister, an empyrean who also could've become a god, and i wonder now if marika destroying the city shown in the trailer was her crushing the competition
i similarly predicted (based on absolutely nothing) back when the gameplay trailer released that the old man seen in it (in the painting, and with the rune/sword through him) was marika's father, so maybe the city that is being destroyed by messmer and marika's forces is her former home that she's destroying so that they can't rise against her in the future
the official subtitles for the line "a purge without Grace or honor" has grace written with a capital G, and the japanese subtitles use the same word as for the erdtree/golden order's grace, and i think that's interesting. in the end marika herself was the most Graceless of them all?
miyazaki said that the name of the dlc (shadow of the erdtree) has another meaning besides referring to the literal shadow tree, and some people theorize it means that the empyreans' shadows will have something to with it, but i personally don't think so - i think it just refers to the hidden "dark side" of the golden order
i hope one of the miquella followers is rhico (or some version of him), just because it'd be nice that the character wasn't just completely tossed away
edit: oh yeah completely forgot, considering how the entire shadow realm seem to be very strongly connected to marika and her past, i'm very curious to see how the very carian-esque area and NPC will tie in to that
edit 2: considering that both fire and snake are seen as blasphemous by the golden order now, i think either messmer betrayed marika (unlikely, considering how he talks of her in the gameplay trailer), or she just fears his power and therefore made everything related to him a blasphemy after using him to win her victories
i don't know, i've just seen people go absolutely bonkers with the theorizing and trying to connect anything and everything not only in the trailers and screenshots but also in the base game to messmer and miquella and the shadow realm no matter how much they need to reach, and i just. find that really exhausting, so i don't want to do that
i can't remember if i had any other thoughts lol

Pokemon Indigo Disk postgame spoilers below
I finished Indigo Disk yesterday, and although I’ll probably be talking about my thoughts at a later date I just want to mention this here:
I remember a theory before the dlc’s release which was along the lines of “The proffesos’ machine isn’t a time machine, it’s a dream machine”. I forgot the specifics of it, but knowing now that Terapagos has the ability to send people through time is so funny with hindsight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the record, I well and truley believe the AI’s did go to the past or future and that they’re in some way happy. If they never did; it’d render the AI’s sacrifice meaningless, the proffesors neglect and effort gone to waste, and Arvens pain and trauma with no reason.
The story needs it to be a time machine because the story needed a payoff for all the setting up it had to lead to. You can’t just introduce and rewrite an entirely new concept into the story, especially one that the story relies on, and expect it to somehow enhance its meaning.

So... Why Are There So Many JD 2024 Leaks Online Right Now?
Before we start, I WILL NOT BE DISCLOSING ANY LEAKS!!! THIS POST IS 100% LEAK FREE!!!! I will, on the other hand, be discussing why there are so many leaks online as compared to other games, so let's get into it.
You may have noticed that when you start up the Just Dance 2023 edition, there is a screen that says Unity. This is the current engine for Just Dance, which in the history of all Just Dances has never happened. Just Dance has always run on an engine called UbiArt, but, in order to be able to add new features such as progressions and to present the game as a streaming service model, they had to switch over to new engine, hence Unity. Interestingly enough, this is also the reason why Kinect was removed, because Unity does not support it. No you may ask why the sudden change in engine, but I'll get to that don't worry.
In the past Just Dance games, while in development, assets for the games were put into the disk format, so it was impossible for new songs on the upcoming games to be leaked unless things were leaked by employees whether on accident/on purpose, or promotion material was released too early. Some songs, such as follow the white rabbit, run the world, and dancing queen were leaked only because they were betas and assets were left over in the files of the games they were intended to originally come out in. Other than that, maps wouldn't be straight up leaked online unless they were betas, which were already completely removed from the games and weren't returning again. So what's so different about this year?
Well, it's all in the fact that Just Dance is completely moved on to a digital, DLC kind of release now. Just Dance 2023 Edition was the game that would become the foundation for all future JD games. When you purchase JD 2024 Edition and go into it, it will be through the same game as JD 2023 Edition. It will be the same technical game, but will have all the new features added on. So instead of transferring the new maps onto a separate disk, the JD team right now is currently transporting all JD 2024 files into the current H+JD 2023 Edition servers. And since this is the JD's team's first time dealing with this engine and this kind of gaming service, their files are not quite as protected as they should be. So leakers are hacking into JD 2023 Edition, finding the new game files, and getting the game while the JD team is still working on transferring it.
So, why didn't the JD team just wait until they were familiar with this technology before releasing two entire games out on it? Well, they wanted to. Ubi presented this idea in hopes of earning the company more money and really launching this series to new heights. The JD team really did love the idea, but said it was going to be a couple years to completely switch over to this model. But, according to employees, Ubi pressed for them to do it all in one year, causing overloads of work for all employees and for the final product to be buggy and unstable, and for the files to be unprotected and relatively easy to hack into (I refuse to believe these hackers have more then one braincell between all of them).
So remember, the JD team is trying their best. These leaks may end up being a good thing, because it might actually light a fire under Ubi's ass to produce well functioning and stable games rather than cash grab, glitchy games.

So I feel like at this point im becoming kinda known for having a very enthusiastic, positive voice when it comes to Tears of the Kingdom. Because of that, I do want to delve into things I hope the DLC will touch on and points of the story that are indeed weaker and I wanted more of! And… then I’ll go into why I’m not completely upset about it.
First and foremost, the sages of old. While we have seen old sages for mere moments in the past, the reason I feel differently about totk’s sages is that we have a character actively interacting with them, aka Zelda.
The sages of old are faceless (which may be a result of opting to utilize headpieces and reusing avatars due to them focusing on the rest of the game) and all have the same cutscene. It was incredibly repetitive and boring by the fourth time we saw it. Zelda’s scene with them is similar as well, which is fine but having an added variety and flair would have been nice, especially as I’m going through the game again.
Overall, the critique is the lack of details in the past. I wanted more and I understand the direction they took, a balance between botw’s open world and a linear story game. It’s more in depth in Botw but not absolutely required like the rest of the Zelda games. That in general is a commonly shared negative critique.
For me, I actually thoroughly enjoy the open world, not entirely linear storyline. That is of course not the case with everyone, but that was the entire concept of botw and ultimately its sequel; they delivered games with entirely open world concepts and a story that is followed through the player’s choice rather than a requirement. And both are fantastic. Botw was light on the plot, totk was much heavier and does have a more distinctive storyline.
Love or hate, they did it well in ToTK. Not perfect, but pretty damn well. It ultimately comes at the sacrifice of story details, especially with characters like the old sages. It’s disappointing to say the least, but it is simply a product of how the games’ concept affected the story.
Another thing I am not entirely a fan of— Nintendo establishing a whacky timeline and then completely abandoning it. Of course, so many people can theorize and speculate but I feel like a lot of common criticism of the game would be helped with them officially stating where this game appears in the overall timeline. Especially if they say “botw and totk are the skyward sword of a new timeline, one so far into the future the remnants of old legends are rare to find”.
That’s how I’ve taken botw and totk. Rauru and Sonia are the first to establish a new Hyrule. They have no connection to Skyward Sword and the rest of the series, because they are so far along in time that tens of thousands of years have passed. The Zonai, the secret stones, and the Sky Islands are all pieces from a time and era we were JUST introduced to. I’m anticipating more knowledge, lore, and history to come to light in future games. I’m okay not having ALL the answers. Because I recognize that botw and totk are the start of a NEW era of Zelda games.
That angers some people, some dislike it, others are fine with it, and some even love it. I’m okay with it because I have enough faith that this will all be explored more in depth in future games. But it is a flaw in ToTK, one I understand, and it’s completely okay that it’s one I don’t necessarily like! Patience is key my loves.
Something I do not love at all is Nintendo’s firm standing on Link being the ‘link to the player’ rather than his own character. I find some of the best Zelda stories have a strong, expressive Link! In botw, I do get it! But in totk… I wanted more. Because then I remember Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, two of the absolute best stories in the Zelda franchise (in my opinion, twilight Princess is also up there) and I get a tad disappointed.
Totk is still open enough that there are people that DESPISE Zelda for ‘stealing’ Link’s house and are vehemently against the idea of Zelda and Link being together, when it is all but stated in the story and the details we got. I feel like half of the emotional appeal of totk’s story truly comes from Link’s wish to bring her back home to him, safe and smiling. It was his entire motivation in Botw, to see her smile again, so taking that perspective and really appreciating Zelda brings that strong emotional reaction totk’s story targeted.
So yeah. If I go on more, I’ll just be talking about how people have the right to dislike Zelda but if they do, then they won’t get the emotional connection to totk and its story the way players are intended to. And that is their right, but it’s not how Link canonically feels about Zelda so yeah. If we just got small expressions from Link, maybe some of that could be avoided.
Alas.
The depths— insanely cool the first time I dived down! But they’re repetitive in their own way, to the point that I have not gone back down once since completing the side quests (bargainer statues, Kohga, Mineru) and lightroots. Though whoever said “let’s make the lightroots connect to the shrines on the surface” I want to give you a forehead smooch bc you are a beautiful genius and I love you.
I think that getting to fight the final bosses for the temples and the Gleeoks are super fun, which makes up for the repetitive landscape. I’m not insanely bothered by this, but I do dislike that a third of my maps are completely ignored now that I’m done with it story wise.
A commonly shared opinion is the stupidity of having to run up to one of the Sage avatars to activate their power. I replayed botw and the sheer joy in getting to take out a Modulga by using Urbosa’s Fury only to remember that it takes much longer now made me very thankful. But yeah.
Tulin is Perfect. The rest? Nah. Give me a Sage button rather than a map in the wheel. Like geez, it shouldn’t be so difficult to call your avatars over. Even when I whistle, I’m chasing Sidon down and he’s useless so I banish him.
Overall, I wanted more DETAILS. But I understand the concept; I got enough to make me excited for when we get more. I can live with the flaws because I can celebrate all they did right! I love Zelda, I love the new sages, and I love the side quests that brings Link closer to characters like Hudson and Penn.
I adore the little communities, Link’s side adventures, and the new landscape changes. I love the sky islands, because they’re just really fun to create whacky Zonai flying contraptions to try and reach the ridiculously far ones. Yeah, they could of had more of an impact in the game but as someone who can and would travel the surface level of Hyrule 1000x and not get bored, I didn’t mind how little I spent in the sky once i did the lightroots and side quests pertaining to the sky.
Overall? The game is pretty damn amazing. The new lore, the characters, and the quests are all so fun. It’s a brilliant game with a phenomenal emotional storyline that had me actually distressed for DAYS. No other game has done that to me for as long as this game did.
So yeah it’s precious to me and I am a Totk enthusiast and a Zelda enthusiast and a Zelink enthusiast. I am a ✨supporter✨

Grima: One Guy In Two Trenchcoats
Let‘s establish: Is Robin possessed or not? Well, I argue…. no.
There‘s a huge difference between one character being controlled by another with no agency in their actions, and someone struggling against their own conflicting nature. Personally, the latter allows for much more depth on Grima‘s part, instead of „ohhh poor Robin :(„
On that question, Robin certainly believes they‘re the same being. Future Past Robin, that is.
Welcome, to Grima apologism hours, in which i do not repent, and overanalyze how my favorite maggot is Complex, actually.
Fire Emblem Awakening‘s Future Past DLC allows a glimpse into an alternate future destroyed by Grima, one extremely similar but ever so slightly different than the one Lucina hails from.
In the „bad end“ of the DLC, achieved if any of the future children (excluding Lucina) die before defeating Grima in Future Past 3, Grima and Lucina hold an extended conversation that gives us a lot of perspective on Grima.
Wherein before Grima shrouded his vessel in shadow, those shadows have lifted and Lucina comes to slowly recognize Robin. She asks if Robin can be saved somehow if Grima is defeated, and very much believes them to be distinct beings. At this moment of Grima‘s weakness, Robin can „shine through“ and speak their own desires without Grima‘s influence, or so it seems.
Robin disagrees.
Tumblr media
Lucina: You‘re human, aren‘t you- a person, like us? Grima is using you to-
Tumblr media
Grima: ...I am Grima! There is nothing human about me!
Lucina: …..
Grima: ...I have always been the fell dragon… since the day I was born…
There we have it, right from the horse‘s mouth.
Lucina is convinced she is talking to Robin, and I‘d agree. Compared to Grima‘s usual behaviour, Robin is much calmer, and speaks more rationally. In addition, their text is formatted different. Grima‘s speech is peppered with bold and bright red text to highlight his wrath, whereas Robin‘s speech features many ellipses, likely to punctuate their fading strength.
And yet, the speech associated with Robin „taking back control“ has them directly admit to being the fell dragon. Previously in this scene, Robin also blames themself for the harm brought to the world.
Tumblr media
Grima: „… I snuffed out the very Voice of the divine dragon… and I just finished killing the friends you sent for the Gemstones…“
[...]
„Don‘t you hate me? I‘m the cause for all of this.“
Robin takes responsibility in the first person. If they were truly possessed in this instance, they‘d shift the blame to Grima, but they do not.
Even Naga acknowledges that it was the fell dragon that teleported Chrom and Robin from the main game to safety, an action we‘d associate with Robin thwarting Grima‘s control to keep their friends safe.
Tumblr media
Go King get that Dissonance!
Naga: „Hm? The fell dragon returned you here… Is everything all right?“
What do I mean by „dissonance“? Well, I‘ve said that Robin admits they and Grima are one being. There are many points where Grima doesn‘t, however. And that‘s like, weird, right. I mean, Future Past Grima does this too, when I‘ve been using Future Past Robin as proof.
I think we all remember the famous “the man who owned this body” line.
Tumblr media
But let‘s point out when Grima does this. To taunt others. In Future Past, Grima brings up Robin‘s love for Chrom to enrage Lucina, and in the maingame, it precedes the final battle, too, though more indirectly, as Grima asks Robin to “join them.” It solidifies Grima‘s appearance as the big bad who must be killed, all typical FE antagonist trash talk, really. Gets you rearing to kill this guy!
Which might be the point.
It‘s an oddity that Grima wants Robin to be remembered fondly. And it‘s a recurring one. Remember how Grima will differentiate between themself and Robin, but Robin won‘t?
On the final map, Grima offers Robin the chance to give themself up in exchange for the Shepherd‘s lives. No matter what you choose, battle commences regardless.
But….
If Robin refuses Grima:
Robin: Do you think me a fool? You'll kill them anyway!
Grima: ...Well, of COURSE I would. I only thought you might want to leave your comrades with a heroic, selfless image. ...But so be it. Leave them with the final memory that you were their undoing!
And if Robin accepts Grima:
Robin: First, let my friends go... You promised to spare them.
Grima: Oh come now, we both knew that was never going to happen... But I am not altogether cruel... I did spare you the pain of damning them openly.
Robin: You…
Grima: In truth, I simply don't understand why you care so deeply for the creatures... No matter. Your soul is mine now; you cannot escape. Your mind will descend into the shadow of my own!
„I only thought you might want to leave your comrades with a heroic, selfless image.“ Grima is offering for Robin to martyr themself, and for Grima to be the undisputed villain of this story. It‘s the same thing that happened with Morgan. Morgan doesn‘t remember Grima, only the kind and caring Robin.
This leads me to believe that Grima‘s theatrics, the whole „I am the breath of ruin and the wings of despair“-spiel, is a mask.
In Future Past, Grima knows they need to die. Future Past Grima basically admits to being suicidal. Just look at the bad ending!
Grima: ...Don't you hate me? ...I'm the cause of all of this... ...If it weren't for me, you would never have had to take up the sword... ...You and your loved ones would be living in peace... ...I am to blame for everything... ...You must destroy me, Lucina…
And furthermore… in the Future Past 3 good ending, before Lucina strikes the final blow, Grima turns into a green unit.
Tumblr media
For just a second. And then they‘re dead.
Grima: ...At last...I can rest... ...No one else...will suffer... ...because of me... ...Thank...you... ...I hope your lives are...filled... ...with...joy... ...... ...... ...Morgan...please forgive me... ...I put you through...so...much... ...... ......
Grima, Robin, desperately wishes they weren‘t Grima. That Robin is all there was. They wish so badly that they could just stay with the Shepherds, with the people they love. And they love so much. They still love Chrom, they still love Morgan, but Grima needs to die for the world to be saved.
But if Grima makes themself into a big bad villain with no redeeming qualities, if Grima taunts and riles up, then maybe everyone will forget that they‘re Robin, too. And everyone can remember Robin fondly. Robin is the human part of Grima, and who they wish to be.
What does it mean for Grima to follow Lucina back in time? It's as Naga said; only Grima's own power can end him for good. If Robin never awakened, Grima's power would remain in the world, sealed inside the Dragon's Table for eternity, or perhaps, until another reincarnation of Grima came along. Instead, Grima takes that power onto himself (so Robin does not, cannot),with just enough left to end it all. Grima knows that he must die.
There are some very notable moments when Grima does call himself and Robin one. However, these moments have something in common; Grima is talking to Robin.
In Invisble Ties, this is most evident.
???: I told you. I'm Robin. The Robin that murdered you and became the fell dragon, Grima. When this "Marth" of yours decided to come back in time...I came with her.
Grima is Robin, burdened by fate, weighed down by grief and madness and a lifetime of horrible choices.
Robin has become his own murderer. To be dead is better than to be Grima.

Question: What do these...
Tumblr media
have in common with...
Tumblr media
these?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Initially this was gonna be a simple topic on my mind to ramble about, but I guess with the latest words from a soft gaming executive hitting the community in 2024 I now have more of a need to talk about this than ever. It's funny how gaming over the past couple decades went from something rather simple and expressive to complicated and, admittedly, dull in some areas. Wait did I say funny, I meant "completely baffling" and the worst of it, imo anyways, comes from this pretty egregious push towards a digital only future we're seeing, with no consideration for physical media, storage space, possible alternative formats to use, or even us gamers wanting to actually possess and own our games. Yeah we live in an age where media is offered to us in such convenient ways, but with gaming it is a whole other beast entirely and as such it requires a different way of thinking in regards to convenience. Thinking that needs to address some of the issues I have with what's presented to us nowadays, starting with...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Video games back then were pretty small in comparison to the massively large scale stuff we've seen these past couple generations, with every gen growing further and further to reach this point. However with that came this rapid race to pushing out not just the biggest of games, but the most visually stunning games as well...sort of. While there have been plenty of games that went for gorgeous stylized looks and graphical effects there have been way more games that aimed for graphics so realistic and lifelike, it resulted in detailed effects and textures that likely took up a ton of file space. Listen, I don't mind if a game looks great, but if the game's high resolution graphics and such are why it ends up with anywhere over 100GB of data to store then clearly we have a problem. I get it, 4K and 8K resolutions are indeed a thing, but to be honest it is not that much of a necessity in the grand scheme.
The overwhelming file size isn't just cause of graphics either, lack of optimization is just as prevalent and boy does it show. Okay sure, devs have to work under a deadline, gotta get as much of those release day sales as possible, but if optimizing a game to scale down the file size and keep it looking good and performing smoothly is a hassle, then maybe something has to give in order to make it easier to manage. Ya gotta know what's best to prioritize if you want the gaming experience feel fun for the player and save space for more, ya know?
Tumblr media
Remember how simple storing game data was, where all you had to worry about was simply having a memory card was all you needed to keep your progress and you had the choice to buy or rent a game to pop in your system? That's what my question earlier was about, stuff like SD cards, flash drives, SSDs and HDDs all store data like the memory cards of old, however there is one difference: the latter mostly stored save data and occasionally DLC for some consoles, the former can fully store games.
After the 7th Generation there definitely was a push towards being able to play games digitally but imo it always felt sloppily done even to this day, unless you played on PC where everything had a designated file directory you could set up of course. For consoles sure you only had to buy an SD card or SSD for extra storage, but it didn’t practically feel like a requirement until games started taking up more and more space. Add onto that the save data, update patches and loads of DLC, and you're piling on more and more files to keep track of with every game you get. That hits even more when you realize that the you fill up more space buying digitally than physically, though nowadays that applies more to Nintendo Switch owners since Playstation and Xbox have treated physical copies like glorified installer discs since the 8th Generation.
Tumblr media
Speaking of installer discs I should probably talk about the physical side of gaming, since now there's more of a prevalent discussion amongst the gaming community going on. I've always wondered why out of all the Big 3 in gaming, it was Nintendo that kept it mostly right on what format to use for games and how to store it, especially now. They had cartridges down to a science from the NES to the N64 (the handheld scene was well done too), their disc based systems were touch and go with the Wii being their best one, and when it came to the Switch they didn't follow the trend at all and went "cartridges are fine enough for what we're doing," kudos. I say all this because, for the most part anyway, all of the base game that gets released on Switch is in the cartridge, leaving you extra room for DLC and some digital games that may not take as much space in your storage. That's something I appreciated way more than one would think, as it let me pick and choose what games were worth buying physically and what won't eat up my SD card space, something I feel is greatly missing elsewhere to be honest.
Granted I know cartridges are probably more expensive to manufacture but it's clear the gaming industry wants to shy away from DVD/Blu-Rays as the years go by, however I do wish there was some consideration for not just cartridges, but other physical ways to store games and reduce all the clutter. SD cards are as abundant as can be and come in various capacities, I wouldn't think it'd be too hard to make great use of that and solely store games and DLC in em (shoot Sony themselves toyed with SD card-sized cartridges with the Vita before, they could've tried that format again without the Vita's failures weighing em down). A single SSD could potentially store those 100s of gigabytes that one game had and they're just as readily available to produce too, imagine a system that contained a slot for you to plug one in that had the game ready to boot anytime and could store any extra content.
The options are right there and they'd be great logical next steps in how to sell physical copies of video games, or any media for that matter, but man it's crazy how unnoticed they've gone. I just wish it were given some thought and considered at least.
Tumblr media
I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would dare say that gamers need to feel comfortable not owning their games, that is perhaps the biggest slap in the face to anybody who picks up a controller old and new. For decades it was pretty much an unspoken agreement between the gaming industry and the gaming community that we buy their games and thus we owned em until we either traded it, gave it away or sold it simple as that, but nowadays (since this past decade even) the industry has gotten bold. Between scummy business practices, horrible business mindsets and finding any which way they can to screw people over, it's disrespecting to the very essence of why we play video games.
Now I'm not gonna trash the very notion of digital gaming as a whole, it's here to stay and has been for a long time, but I cannot and will not accept it being the only way we play games when having the options and balance of choosing between it and physical titles in a better format is a perfectly fine way to go whenever we wanna buy a game.
The more limitations and restrictions you place on gaming and the more shenanigans you cause the more likely people are to relent against the industry, and when people relent well...
Tumblr media
Hey, a service issue is a service issue is all I'm saying, there are definitely people out there who won't mind the high seas if push comes to shove.

What do you comprehensively about focus of the heart? It’s definitely a project that’s certainly *there* with some talented folks on it.
This ask has been sitting in my box for a while, and I’ve resisted responding to it because I really don’t want beef with anyone on the project. My personal experience with those I have engaged with has been unpleasant, but that doesn’t fault their product nor everyone working on it. Also, I may jump around quite a bit because a lot of my feelings on FOTH have nothing to do with the game itself (it’s still in development) and everything to do with the “discourse” and reasons surrounding its creation.
Let me preface by saying, I’m incredibly impressed that the artists involved were able to come together to create a project inspired by the fandom they all love so much. Artist groups are a really great way to gain visibility as an artist. You could be making art that never reaches the people who would want to see it, but if you group together with other similar artists and support each other, your audiences begin to overlap and grow. That seems to be working really well for the people behind FOTH.
I should also warn that I am not the biggest fan of “fanon” content. I haven’t read a fanfic in its entirety in at least 10 years and I don’t make much content other than the occasional doodle and think-piece ramblings. I have nothing against shipping, headcanons, and AU’s. I partake in all of these myself, I have no issue with it. What I do have an issue with is people who say a creator intended for fanon that doesn’t exist in canon. Or people twisting dev’s words to their benefit, pulling things out of context to bolster their opinions. This has created conflict in the past between me and an artist or few on this project.
Shipping is very popular in the Horizon fandom, and has been since the first game was released. Zero Dawn provided us with many potential new friends for Aloy, some of which many fans were left confused as to how Aloy truly felt about them. After all, Ashly Burch who portrays Aloy is pansexual, and she claimed that over half the characters she’s played are queer. And Aloy, although inexperienced and unsure of herself in Zero Dawn, was definitely left flustered at some point by many of the popular shipping characters.
So why did it take the release of Burning Shores, a DLC that finishes with Aloy declaring her romantic attraction to a new companion, for the fandom to put together a dating sim? The Burning Shores DLC was released on April 19th 2023. The first post on the Official FOTH Tumblr was made on June 7th 2023. Their “About Us” post from the same day, says in the second sentence that they decided to create the game, “in the wake of negative internet discourse about fandom shipping.”
Negative discourse? What does that even mean in this context? Are they referring to devout fanon members harassing the game devs and Kylie Liya Page for the creation of Seyka as Aloy’s love interest? Who the fuck, other than people mad about Seyka, were creating fandom discourse around shipping Horizon characters at that time? Kylie Liya Page has literally been cyberbullied from the day the game came out. Yes, it’s died down considerably, but the only negativity surrounding shipping in the fandom was created by the very people who love shipping the most. Kylie was still experiencing the thick of this “negative internet discourse” six months ago.
So many of the very same people who desperately wanted Aloy to get her first romance, are the ones who were most off-put by Seyka’s story. It wasn’t good enough, it was forced, rushed, chosen “for me.” No, Seyka was chosen for Aloy, not you. A lot of people seem to forget that the role-playing element in Horizon is more of a tone-check. Heart, Brain, Fist. You’re not choosing Aloy's response, but how she responds. Is she going to address this compassionately, pragmatically, or stoically? Your attitude will be remembered in future conversations, but your choices have no effect on the quests or ending of the game. Your options in quests are to complete them as intended, or don’t do the quest.
We were never going to get multiple options for Aloy’s romantic partner in this game. She could still have another! Seyka doesn’t have to be the endgame, most people don’t end up with their first love. But how shitty would it be for us to lose Seyka completely as a character in the third game, because Kylie doesn’t want to come back and face that abuse again, or because the devs don’t want to subject her to that or lose more fans over it? What if they get rid of Seyka with a shitty write-off, and then Aloy ends up alone? We’ve now seen that she’s capable of opening her heart and experiencing that kind of character development. It would suck to have that taken away.
When you’re allowed to do whatever you want in fanon space, why go out of your way to harass the creators of the canon? Why bully fellow fans for having different opinions than you? You were already imagining these made up relationships that don’t exist, why does Aloy having a canon love interest ruin that? Why is Aloy having a canon love interest a disruption to fanon? It isn’t a disruption to fanon, clearly, as the creation of and support for FOTH has proved. Not only just by simply existing, but by their inclusion of Seyka in the game.
I was accused of being a bigot because I posted on my own blog that Aloy reads as a lesbian to me. I was harassed after Burning Shores came out for joking that we now have more proof of Aloy being a lesbian than bisexual. I’m a silly little lesbian, I see gay bitch, I want a lesbian. But that’s an opinion that exists in my mind, and on tumblr. It’s definitely not something I’m going to bring to the devs and accuse them of dancing around. Because still, as it stands, Aloy is most likely coded as pan/bi. It doesn’t warrant me or the thousands of other lesbian fans being harassed over a headcanon, though.
To me, and probably most people who genuinely feel normally about this game, there are way bigger issues in this fandom than anti-ship. There have been way bigger concerns surrounding how the developers and actors have been treated by the fans. There are way worse attacks conducted by fans who love shipping content than those who hate it. There have been worse attacks on people in this fandom by people "defending" their favorite ships than by outsiders in the gaming community that invade our spaces to tell us how mannish and ugly Aloy is. The people who think shipping is the biggest point of discourse in this fandom are most likely the same ones perpetrating it.
FOTH portrays their product as bravely pushing the boundaries on something that is going to receive backlash because it is shipping content. It represents itself as an amalgamation of all the shipping content in the fandom, dedicated to it. The language applied is intended to attract anyone who is cool with shipping, which I’m pretty sure is over 95% of this website. Definitely over 95% of the Horizon fandom. A genius move, from a marketing standpoint.
“What? That’s ridiculous, why are they facing negative discourse for a silly little dating sim? I’m cool with shipping, they get my support.”
It is ridiculous, isn’t it? Tumblr is full of shipping, how is a tumblr account for a dating sim finding itself in a position where it has to preemptively address negative discourse on the first day of the official blog existing? It’s because the negative discourse they’re warning against isn’t aimed at shipping, it’s aimed at the aggression seen from the creators on their personal blogs in regards to their favorite ship. But they opened with the discourse statement so that if they ended up receiving criticism from the people they bullied, there’d be a potential for fans of their project to blindly defend them because FOTH prefaced that all their haters just hate shipping.
That one statement from their account tells me that FOTH seems to be picksy-choosing what issues in this fandom warrant concern. Apparently, calling Aloy a lesbian is a bigger offense than sending death threats to actors and developers. Apparently, the worst discourse to happen in the Horizon fandom is because of those who defended Seyka from unwarranted hate and not the people who were enraged with her addition to the series. Apparently, FOTH wants to ignore all the harassment the devs of Horizon went through, but keep their fans aware that any so-called hate (criticism) that the FOTH creators face is simply unjustified and toxic. They opened their blog with an attempt to alienate anyone who might ever have a reason to criticize the game.
I won’t be playing FOTH, I have little interest in it besides innate curiosity. The closest I get to touching dating sims is fantasy RPG’s though, so I likely wouldn’t be playing it regardless.
As I stated in the opening, my feelings about FOTH have nothing to do with the game itself and rather the people behind it and the circumstances that brought it to fruition. I don’t think every artist behind it has the altruistic goal of simply creating something fun for everyone in the fandom to enjoy, I think some of them are just scratching an itch. If they were looking for something productive to place their frustration into, they found it. I’d be interested to know which pairings end up being the most fleshed out, and which ones are lacking. Especially since every artist got assigned to a character they genuinely enjoy. DM me privately to place your bets.
So, I guess, TLDR; I’m not going to try and stop anyone from playing Focus On The Heart, but I don't trust all the people working on it nor their intentions. For Reasons™.

Master Detective Archives: Revival Code
Summary: You awaken in an unknown location with a splitting headache, no memories, and a fuzzy blue ghost who calls himself "Yakou Furio”. What the actual hell is going on?
Rated M for language and canon-typical violence
Cross-posted on Ao3
*CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR ALL OF "MASTER DETECTIVE ARCHIVES: RAIN CODE" AND ITS ACCOMPANYING DLC*
Chapter: Prologue
“My team is entering the final trial stages as we speak. We should be ready to proceed with the operation within the next few weeks. May I inquire as to how things are going on your end?”
“Ugh. Slower than a zombie’s shuffle. Are you sure this guy’s a detective?”
“As I’ve mentioned before, memories are transferred during the DNA extraction process. Although it will be interesting to see what memories are retained if a second transfer is successful! What are his awareness levels?”
“It’s like the events of that month never even happened. He doesn’t remember their names or faces, but he remembers getting the letter about their impending arrival.”
“Fascinating! I appreciate you doing all of this for me. I know you had to bend quite a few rules in order to aide me in my quest.”
“Yeah, well, I’m not doing it for you.”
“I didn’t mean to assume! You really are doing this all for his sake, aren’t you?”
“Yeah. I just want to see him happy. I just…want to see him, actually.”
“That’s very selfless of you.”
“Don’t you dare start with the sappy crap again!”
“I can empathize with you. I too am quite anxious to reunite with him. And our inquisitive friend is excited to see him as well.”
“Ugh, don’t remind me about her. You already explained the terms, right? I don’t want to be dealing with her any sooner than I absolutely have to.”
“Is that a bit of jealousy I hear?”
“Shut it!”
“Alright, alright, I won’t pester you further. But yes, she knows not to call you until she absolutely needs to.”
“Are you sure all of this is going to work?”
“Are you forgetting who I am?”
“No. How could I?”
“I’m aware of what a gamble this all is. But I think it’s worth the risk. And I have some of the greatest minds on my side, you included. None of us can change the past, but I’m confident that we can change the future.”
“I should get going. I’ve noticed if I’m gone for too long, he starts to stray.”
“I’ll leave you to it, then. I’m sure once she calls, she’ll keep him busy. Best of luck!”
“You too. And I mean that.”
“See you soon.”
“Yeah, see ya.”

I know you are on a mako vibe rn. But with the pokemon scarlet/violet Dlc more specifically the pokemon Ogerpon. I feel like this mon would be more suited in Arceus with PB Akari or making mischief in Glimwood tangle with Brie.
Oh definitely, Brie especially since she'd adore the hell out of Ogerpon.
But I think Scarnoa could help out in various ways, she's a pretty lonely person until recently.
Unlike Brie and Punch Baby Akari, Scarnoa had a not so stellar upbringing. And that's from what she can remember.
It's a messy situation, like nothing neglectful or anything, just strange circumstances that left her isolated until recently and her effectively coming to terms with it as she becomes more and more aware that "oh, this isn't normal".
And you also got Arvin just "YOU IDIOT, OF COURSE IT'S NOT NORMAL!!"
Anyways enough time has passed by, here's me dropping Scarnoa lore.
Her Mama got yeeted into the past from the future via wormhole, and Scarnoa was effectively a partho baby cuz SURPRISE —
Mama is a ditto hybrid. Came to be both as an experiment but just two childless scientist wanting a kid. So you got Mama Scarnoa who followed in their footsteps and whoops, back to the past, samurai jack.
She was stuck there tho, and pretty much living out in the wild, surviving.
Then one day, BOOM. Here comes Scarnoa. And she and her mama loved alone for years until Mama passed away cuz unlike Scarnoa, she was less stable and making Scarnoa effectively...YEAH.
So Scarnoa did effectively grow up around Pokemon, but it's a pretty fucking weird experience. (She was in what is now Area Zero tho)
So surprise!! Scarnoa is lonely and totally not normal.
And Arvin doesn't know how to react to that.
Ogerpon does take quite well to Scarnoa.
Also side note, fucking DLC turned me into a grass type trainer. I WENT FROM BIRDS TO PLANTS
my beautiful Dipplin, Fuji, and Leavanny, Evangeline, alongside my Sinistcha, Chachami, just took priority on my team. It's a disaster really lmao.
Kinda fits with Scarnoa, but she also has birds :V

Hello! I wonder if you remember me..
It brings me so much joy to see your blog and subsequent AU grow this much, of course this is besides the tremendous growth I've seen with your art! I can still remember the days where you would make traditional art and held a giveaway for some watercolour polaroids...
I know the mysmes fandom is a bit past it's glory days, but I'm very happy to see blogs like yours that keep it alive :) I might not interact often, if at all sometimes, but I do truly wish you the best for the upcoming future, whether it be AU, fanart, or just your own personal life.
Perhaps it won't mean much from a tumblr anon, but you should be very proud of yourself, because I'm certainly proud of you and your blog!
Please take care of yourself, much love.. and I'll see you next time I suppose :)

CRIES
this is literally the nicest thing ever. omg OF COURSE I REMEMBER YOU!!! i always remember the anons the sign off, it’s been a while!! I hope you’re doing well!!!
i still have much to discover from Mystic Messenger; Another Story, DLC, etc… i’m glad i can contribute even when the community is small. i’ve met some pretty rad people because of this blog, and i hope we can all continue to share our silly little ideas for our funny anime boys.
as for AU stuff and my own spin-offs, this blog primarily runs on asks aside from my VERY RARE standalone arts. i encourage engagement! let me weave you a puzzle to solve!!! i’ll make you feel things along the way, i promise it will be fun <3
but again, thank you so much for being here throughout the years and continuing to support my content. it means SO MUCH for people to enjoy the ideas i have, even more if they contribute to it themselves. i hope you stop by again, even if it’s just to window shop :’))))

How does the Fell Xenologue stack up with other DLC campaigns (Cindered Shadows, Rise of the Deliverance, Heirs of Fate, and the Future Past)?
Keep in mind that I haven't played the 3DS DLC in years.
The Xenologues are alright. They nail the atmosphere of an unsettling, mirrored world where everyone is dead, and it actually manages to be appropriately creepy at points. The maps are varied although that means that the quality is kind of up and down, but having to play around the two new classes and stuff like the three-way battle in Chapter 4 and Nil's multiple gimmicks in Chapter 6 keeps you on your toes. As a story, as I thought going on in the Xenologues provide some of that "fighting your former allies" tension that Fates and Three Houses run off despite Engage's linear plot, but Nil is an overly complicated antagonist for such a short story. All the royals being Corrupted was a good reveal, but Mauvier's death was obvious from the start as there's no way you'd be given two playable versions of the same character. This isn't Heroes.
My personal high watermark for FE DLC is Rise of the Deliverance, for providing interesting background on an already well-developed subset of the cast as well as some interesting gameplay in a game that was in need of a boost like that. Future Past is most memorable for being the only part of Awakening to follow through on the potential of its time travel elements, and I can see why Lucina fans especially enjoy it. Heirs of Fate...eh, I don't remember it much. I think it was mostly more of the same as Awakening's. Cindered Shadows is solid on its own and the gameplay is good, but the Wolves and Abyss are poorly-integrated into the main story (also, why are its classes randomly shoutouts to Awakening?). Overall I do like that all of these campaigns lean more on the tactical side of FE as opposed to the RPG side, sharply limiting your options and forcing you to work with what you're given. With modern FE embracing open unit customization and regular grinding in a way that the pre-Awakening games mostly didn't, I appreciate the variation.

Hi hi~! Life update here
Hi there!
Yes, I'm still alive lol, it's just that 85% of my social media time I currently spend it on Twitter (I refuse to call it how Elmo Muskrat wants the site to be called lol), and 15% I spend it on Bluesky (which, by the way, if you wanna find me there, I'm Eirenare too there lol).
I'm still very veeeeeery much in my Reylo brainrot haha, so yeah, you might see me posting or reblogging every now and then some of it, although I've been as well into some other stuff lately (Elden Ring for example), so you might see me posting about that too, so just a heads up there about it (and don't worry, everything I post here, regardless of what it is, as usual it'll have its tags and spoiler warnings, a "read more" if need be, etc).
My energy's been specially low for the past months though to be honest, so I can't guarantee I'll be very active around here (except for private messages, I'll be checking these every little time), just that every now and then I'll come here and post or reblog some stuff, probably Reylo and other things Star Wars or series/movies, life updates too, maybe will share in a bit of my Elden Ring brainrot and theories as its DLC approaches and I get more and more excited.
Anyways, here's some random life update stuff and anecdotes that I wanted to say before I log off for the night here:
I fell into the Kalluzeb (Kallus x Zeb, from Star Wars Rebels) rabbithole some time ago and it was, and is, neat, I love them so much
earlier today I had churros and hot chocolate as desert at lunch time and I was in cloud nine all the while I chomped on them
apparently my brain won't cease to come up with new Reylo AUs which is amazing and so much fun but also if I ever showed you guys screenshots of my Google Docs you might just faint because there are just so many things there between WIPs I'm currently working on that are already on Ao3, future things to go on Ao3, vague WIPs, AU ideas... and my energy is running so low and I'm working on various Ao3 WIPs so yeah lol I don't think I'll ever write even half of the fics I noted down
I watched Barbie at the cinema and it became one of my new comfort movies and one of my fave movies of all time
somehow I'm not as bad as I thought I'd be at Elden Ring even though I'm clumsy, a scaredycat and my tunnel vision goes lvl 100 when I'm playing videogames which usually means "good luck remembering to look at your stamina bar and using key items", so seeing myself not get too stuck on bosses was unexpected and neat (in fact, funnily enough: somehow this game even makes my anxiety lower at times and it barely increases it at all even when I'm fighting bosses, go figure lol)
I had the chance to buy Final Fantasy XVI at a much cheaper price than release price but because at that site I didn't see any warning that it was temporary, by the time I went to buy it, it had risen price again so now I'm awaiting once again for both better prices and for my wallet to recover
my brother bought a PS5 back in spring and a copy of Star Wars Jedi Survivor and, since we live in the same house, I did play that game and it was amazing asdfgffdgfjfb there were only a very few things I didn't like that much but holy shit was it good, some stuff even felt tailor-made for me in ways I wasn't expecting but that I enjoyed very much (and also the tears, the rivers of tears I shed on certain scenes lol) and now I'm super hyped for the 3rd whenever it is that it'll happen
the official Star Wars accounts at Twitter have been posting quite a bit about Reylo and the sequels and Ben for the past days (and I gotta say, the account from Spain even added some extra Reylo flavor in some tweets that other accounts didn't which is curious) and I'm clowning kinda hard, hoping that DLF finally realized most of the people actually like a lot Reylo (or don't mind it) and the ST, and hoping (always hoping, always dreading to hope too much, but hoping anyways) that we'll get Rey and Ben reunited in her movie
Anyways x2, enough anecdotes and thoughts for the night, see you around lovely people~! <3 Hopefully soon lol, but if not... *looks at 2024 fast approaching* if not, then I'll 100% be around to gossip and scream for when the Rey movie begins production and talks begin and all that stuff, lol.
Good night~! :D I hope you have a great day and/or a good sleep~! <3
EDIT: looooool apparently this was my 100th post in here and I got a free badge for my profile so yay, nice~ x) XDD

One more DD's Theory Corner bit for tonight. This is just speculation, and I in no way have insider information, nor am I claiming to.
Tumblr media
This is now my third? Time examining this map this year, but this was from the original Indigo Disk reveal. This map is also in the classrooms, I believe, but its at such an angle we cannot observe it correctly.
Why am I bringing this back up? Find out under the cut, but I'm going somewhere with this:
We didn't see any of these areas in the DLC. So, this goes without saying: This is a future map. Those areas highlighted are future areas as well.
Here's another thing: That yellow Pokemon is some kind of Mamoswine. Mamoswine is not in the Blueberry Pokedex. I checked. It *is* in the Pokedex of BW2, though. The upward arrow could indicate Alpha status, perhaps located at a higher elevation, but that's unclear as of now. That, and I think that Geodude isn't the Alolan variant. I can't see the magnetic spikes on its head, so it's either Kantonian or a new form that seems native to the desert.
Looking at this map previously, I stated that it was particularly odd that they showed all of these weather patterns, as if Unova was going through some shit. In fact, looking at it, the area that's showing a desert may have once been a forest, because I think those are trees there. Of course, the image is blurry, so it could also be people in cloaks. The stormy shot resembles a cliff side near a body of water- but there's nothing indicating water there, so maybe either a lake, river, or maybe some indication of flooding. The icy mountain also seems connected to some kind of port... Maybe it's solid ice? It almost looks like there's something in it.
Also, I think looking at it now- with the additional possibility that areas could be changed severely due to severe weather or climate change, I think I might have an idea of where in Unova it is.
Tumblr media
The western half towards Virbank, but tilted on its side. There's a cutout that looks like it could fit the southern part of Virbank Complex. In addition, there are mountains in the general area of the Unova Map where it appears like an icy mountain in the above trailer map. Keep in mind, Legends Arceus's Hisui also took some liberties with its map in comparison to Modern Sinnoh, such as where they put Sendoff Spring facing the ocean instead of closed off in a forest.
My theory, after culminating everything I've seen so far, is this:
This is a portion of a map of a Legends Unova game.
That being said, I'm not sure when it could be. The most predictable answer would be the past- after all, even in Paldea, we have photographic pictures of Hisui and Professor Laventon.
Game Freak does not like being predictable though- almost infuriatingly so. So what else could it be?
two options:
Modern- Which I'm almost not sure about. After all, the region looks like shit right now according to the map, and yet in Blueberry, our teachers seemed to have no issues going to Unova to just... hang out. Brassius in particular visited Burgh's gym and described it as it appeared in BW2, and Raifort described going to the underwater ruins off the coast of Undella with her Finneon- she did describe TRAPS, which is new and something I don't quite remember (although it's been years since I last checked there). Other than that, though, it sounds normal.
So then what else?
Future- What if this picture isn't a map of Unova as it is or was, but a prediction of the future? Specifically about climate change. Climate change is a hot topic, and weather is pretty weird lately. It does seem weird to focus on weather considering that's usually more of a Hoenn thing, but Unova does have its own weather issues in the form of the genies- now counting 4 in the mix as of Hisui. Specifically, strong winds, thunder storms, and... Possibly sand storms with Landorus.
Why the future, then? Well, again, not as easily predicted. However, there's a convenience of the future as well- Hisui laid out a rough time period where certain ancestors were in Sinnoh/Hisui, but most importantly the timeline that Pokeballs were just then being kind of experimented with. Training as a concept is still relatively new as of 200 ish years ago if we assume the events of Hisui follow real life history and place it somewhere around the Industrial Revolution era. Sure, you could argue that they could come up with other methods to train and catch Pokemon, but keep in mind they'll want to have us throw Pokeballs probably, so we can't just fling spells or whatever.
In other words, they'd have to strictly abide by this timeline- or say screw it and make up a new timeline where it happened earlier, which they are not above doing. But in the argument for a Future Legends game, they don't have to worry too much about timelines except for fixed points. Not to mention, it sets a precedence that Legends as a series- assuming they continue it, which at this point seems likely- does not have to take place in the past and can freely explore any time period they wish, such as a Legends Game set in Ultra Space entirely, or perhaps one for when Oak was a kid, one for Johto AND Kanto combined, maybe even the expedition for Mew itself in Guyana or Faraway Island- If they go with this method, the possibilities will suddenly be endless.
Not to mention, for Unova specifically, it does fit thematically to some degree, and allow more freedom for new Pokemon to migrate there, such as what happened in just two years between BW1 and BW2, explaining Geodude. Plus, think about it. Most of Unova is city after city- BUT nature could always have RECLAIMED Unova after a certain amount of time, as has happened to abandoned cities IRL.
Of course all of this could mean nothing for Unova. There's a distinct possibility that this could very well be a new region- maybe gen 10 or a DLC Pack 2- but I don't think that's too likely. There's also the possibility this is all nothing and I am just an ADHD powered hyper fixated moron that needs to sleep. It seems Pokemon has been scrapping ideas for content lately anyway, so it could easily be nothing and is just either a random map, a scrapped map, or otherwise.
But this tinfoil hat has kept me safe after digging this deep so far. Who knows.

Paldea is not the ONLY region with past or future representation
Anyone remember the version exclusives Unova had? And I’m not talking about the pokemon living there. I’m talking about some of the cities and areas. For example, Opelucid City, in white and white 2, it looks to be very historic, very old timey, very keeping to its historic roots. Whereas in black and black 2, it looks more futuristic.
And there’s another area that also follows this trend too. The Black City aka the white forest. Just like with Opelucid, it looks like there’s no technology in white and white 2 and is just mostly forest, and in black and black 2, it’s a futuristic city.
Now, what does this mean, you might be asking. What I’m saying is Unova predicted another thing for Paldea. Past and Future representation.
And for those of you who believe that the DLC is going to be about Kalos, and Kalos only, I want you to open up your mind. Maybe it’ll include other regions, like Unova and Johto. Albeit, references to them because the devs would never make you revisit an old region unless it was for a remake. Because if something like that were to happen, it would be too much for consoles like the Switch to handle at that point, it would crash 20x over (worse than Scarlet and Violet or any of the older generations), and Nintendo would need to move onto a bigger platform that could host enough data to support it like on a computer. And the last time that happened was in Gen 2 and its remakes because they conviently had someone on board who knew how to compress the data so it would all fit.
And these Unova and Johto references could be version exclusive, just like the paradox fusions that we saw. Johto for Scarlet and Unova for Violet and it even makes sense with how the regions look in their respective generations. Johto looks very historic and is keen on keeping its historic roots while Unova looks very modern but dominated by technology. Also, some believe that some of the paldea pokemon look like the scrapped pokemon from gen 2.
And aside from the legendary fusions, look at all the other paradox pokemon as well from both the past and future and you’ll notice that from each a majority of them are either from Johto or Unova.
In the past:
Great Tusk - Donphan (Johto)
Brute Bonnet - Amoongus (Unova)
Sandy Shocks - Magneton (Kanto)
Scream Tail - Jigglypuff (Kanto)
Flutter Mane - Misdreavus (Johto)
Slither Wing - Volcarona (Unova)
Roaring Moon - Salamence (Hoenn)
In the future:
Iron Treads - Donphan (Johto)
Iron Moth - Volcarona (Unova)
Iron Hands - Hariyama (Hoenn)
Iron Jugulis - Hydreigon (Unova)
Iron Thorns - Tyranitar (Johto)
Iron Bundle - Delibird (Johto)
Iron Valiant - Gardevoir and Gallade aka Gardearc *which is a nickname I’d give it if it wasn’t a robot and was an organic pokemon just like its ancestors* (Hoenn/Sinnoh)
Of course between the two regions that are the majority, obviously Johto is higher. And notice that there is no representation for Kalos of any kind aside from how Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant look like Mega Salamence and a splicing of Mega Gardevoir and Gallade repectively, in terms of a pokemon from Kalos getting either a past or future form or both, like Volcarona and Donphan did.
I didn’t count Iron Thorns even though its ancestor did get a mega evolution because Iron Thorns does not look anything like Mega Tyranitar, it looks like normal Tyranitar. Although I am open to the idea that its past form might resemble mega Tyranitar, much like how Roaring Moon looks like Mega Salamence as I just mentioned.
The only Kalos, or should I say Gen 6 related, connection that these 14 all have in common I could gather is that either they or their pre-evos can be found in any of the Gen 6 games, whether its a specific location in X and Y, or a specific location in either of the gen 3 remakes. Plus mega stones have a symbol resembling something like a double helix inside, which is commonly associated with DNA, and this would mean that mega evolution, despite being basically body horror according to their dex entries, and how it requires a bond between trainer and pokemon, likely to make it more bearable for the pokemon, is just the pokemon harnessing the power within its genetics that it inherited from its ancestors. Perhaps we could see some pokemon come back and gain a paradox form that resembles their mega form to some extent. I mean the galar dlc brought back approximately 200 pokemon back, so it wouldn’t be that much of a shocker if Scarlet and Violet is going to do the same. I mean the devs did say that they did like what they did in the Galar dlc and are open to doing more in the future.
But I could be wrong about all this. I heard some rumors saying that they might add more paradox pokemon aside from the 2 fusions and that egg with the hexagons on it, which a lot of people think it’s eithe Zygarde or a paradox form of Zygarde (also Zygarde isn’t the only legendary pokemon with hexagons on it, Zekrom too also has some on its body, abeit they’re black and not green). And maybe I could be wrong on that too. I mean Zygarde’s name doesn’t seem to fit perfectly in the book, and maybe it could be Zekrom, or its a new legendary entirely. Plus, it never says that the hexagons are green. Plus half of this thing in the book is black and the other is white, but that could also be from how the book was printed. Plus, the rumors also include a 3rd book for the 3rd legendary. Some say that it’s blue or amber, but I personally would like to say that it could be green, because of Cyclizar and it’s connection to its relatives. Having the book be blue or amber makes little sense when it comes to cyclizar, considering the only part that’s blue that is attributed to it is its cheeks in its shiny form. Amber doesn’t either because it’s cheeks are orange in its normal form. But this could be attributed to only the 3rd legendary. But maybe it could be a past legendary, like Zygarde. It wouldn’t be the first time that that happened. I mean Zygarde is in Alola, Galar, Paldea and in Kalos for crying out loud.
But maybe I am wrong.
Also, please bear in mind that I am in no way claiming that this is exactly whats going to happen in the DLC. I am just presenting my own opinions, takes, theories, and hypotheses. You’re entitled to yours, I am to mine. So let’s shake hands on it and agree to disagree.

Okay just one more thing before bed. I’m absolutely officially batshit crazy in love with this Pokemon game but here are my final gripes:
1. Why do they go out of their way to say the school is all ages yet we the players can’t be anything but children? Please Nintendo I beg you
2. I don’t remember 2 ask me tomorrow
And 3 is under the cut because end game spoilers!!!
I’ve seen other people say this about the fossil Pokemon as well in regards to Scarlet, but I think it was a real missed opportunity not putting Staryu and Starmie into Violet when, if I remember right, they’re the OG ‘These Pokemon might be from space or the future!!!!!’ Pokemon.
Maybe this will be addressed in the DLC????? Like they’re not ACTUALLY from the past and future and maybe something else is happening??????
