It seems like Within the Wires is going to be another Night Vale Presents production with a big Native American hole in its heart.
I've talked about this before, but a core motif in Alice isn't Dead is the emptiness at the heart of America, the big open spaces, the land with no people. America is a land of distance more than culture, etc. But except for an offhand mention in the third season and a more direct comment in the liveshow, the narrative doesn't engage with why that land is empty. If we're talking about the violence hidden within our miles, that first, defining act of violence seems critical. (Also, I know it's focused on highways, but if we want to discuss the violence and exploitation of our efforts to bridge those miles, the Chinese railway workers are right there... Also the displacement of poor and majority Black neighborhoods for the building of a lot of those highways.)
Meanwhile, WTNV establishes that Night Vale predates the arrival of European settlers. At the outset Night Vale is this zany town with spooky happenings where all conspiracy theories are true, but if its age means that its history and traditions are rooted in Indigenous beliefs, the surrealist comedy approach makes me a little uneasy.
Finally, I just finished Within the Wires season 3, where Michael talks about how the science and data support the efficacy of the year ten/family separation program. But... there is a major precedent in American history for removing children from their families and deliberately destroying their ties to their heritage, culture, and nation, and that's Native residential schools. Is that what they're talking about? Hell, the New Society seems to have come to power in the 50s and increased its draconian presence in the 60s - it's basically a Sixties Scoop but happening to everyone.
I enjoy Night Vale Present's work a lot, but it is bizarre to me that while all the productions go out of their way via character names to indicate a very diverse world, they consistently fail to engage with this part of American history even when it makes no sense not to.

The Astral Prism Isn't Grindr!- Why the Emperor didn't catfish you.🦑
Very long, rambling post I wrote while manic at 4 am. Enjoy!
I feel like the worst thing you can actually say about Emp in regards to his actions towards the player is that he lies by omission. But even then, to consider it lying you basically have to work from the perspective that you as a player, person, character or whatever, are entitled to know everything about someone you just met, who might have some very good reasons for not wanting to reveal certain things
He didn't "catfish" you the prism isn't grindr lmao?! And the game/companions/etc repeat to you over and over that the Dream Visitor is some kind of manufactured vision. You all have one and it's specific to your individual minds. He wasn't exactly doing some deepcover shit with a fake backstory to get your cryptowallet information or whatever real-life equivalence you keep trying to make. As if you run into alien squid monsters every day or something!
It's doubly bizarre because there is an extremely popular companion character whose entire arc is ACTUALLY lying to you about who they are, only admitting it when you catch them attacking you in your sleep, and then goes on to try to ACTUALLY manipulate you with sex and intimacy while at that point, not actually feeling it. This is the most popular character in the fandom btw- Astarion.
Emperor's morality is held up to a ridiculous standard. Not even the companions are held to that level- not even close!
A better equivalence to his situation than "catfishing" (a term completely exclusive to our world) would be if a sentient, alien creature was stranded on our planet and had to use a disguise to y'know....not be shot at and killed by confused humans? Why the heck would your brain first jump to catfishing? Girl if you approached your DG as a tindr date that's on you! Lliterally the only prompt the game gives you before creating them is "you need a guardian" (At least currently that's how it works, after official release.)
if you met a kind of weird guy and fell for him and he then revealed he's actually a sentient squid monster, I don't think your first response would be "OMG YOU CATFISHED ME?" I'm pretty sure it would be "HOLY FUCK A SQUID MONSTER!" because it would be very obvious and apparent (by virtue of them being a squid monster) that the intent was not to "catfish" you, but to survive a world that would be actively hostile towards him, on sight.
We accept this type of "ambiguous morality for the sake of survival" from characters like Astarion who are traditionally attractive, but we don't accept it from a being whose very appearance, forces them into that position of moral ambiguity. Emperor is not afforded the same privilege of even being able to consider full honesty, because just one look at him could make someone hysterical. Hiding himself from you is not an active choice he's able to make, anymore than a turtle can choose to break open it's shell- it will die.
Even if YOU wouldn't kill him, what about companions like Lae'zal, who are already suspicious of him and will definitely cut him down at that point? Even if you think that would be a good thing, you would then lose your protection from the tadpole/the Absolute. The game basically wouldn't exist without the Prism.
Let's also not use "well Astarion is traumatized" as an excuse here. Emperor is pretty obviously traumatized as well, in addition to being a brain-eating squid monster and having to manage that part of his nature, the way Astarion has to handle his. Yet he's still more up front than Astarion was. Astarion can accidentally kill you while drinking from you and he still doesn't reveal who he is to the others, AND pretends he doesn't know what happened to you lol.
Note my point here isn't "Astarion bad" but simply that if you have room in your heart to sympathize with characters like Astarion, then there's no reason you can't squeeze my man Emp in there too. He doesn't do anything significantly worse than any of the other main characters but is the most hated, and it's literally because of this ridiculous perception of him "catifshing" the player. The most media illiterate take I have ever seen in my life, honestly
Like first off, he's a squid, and secondly! ☝️ Read all that again.
tl;dr if you feel "cafished" by the Emperor you simply weren't paying attention for more than half the game. Fantasy might not be for you if you can't remove the plot from real life circumstances and turn complex fantasy monsters into human romance scammers, as if they're actually alike in any meaningful way.
Read more books maybe. That might help.

so episode 5. all my thoughts
we picked up where the last one left off, good start
annabeth saying she knows percy isn't dead... how. to annabeth and grover there should have been no way percy was alive and finding out he was should've been so emotional but instead she was like dw i know he's not dead lol. it's kind of... lazy writing? like how are you gonna write a scene as gut wrenching as percy trapping himself with a monster and telling his friends to complete the quest without him because he's actively dying and has no reason to believe he'll survive, and then make the fallout of that so... nonchalant? idk if it's a time limit thing but that was so underwhelming to me
annabeth being the one to see the fates... no
fugitive percy enjoyers at least we won!!!!
the trio peeking over the road barrier at ares was cute goofy silly i liked that :)
gabe on the news shit talking percy i'm hooting and hollering!! "i really-- WE really loved that car" and "i'm gonna kill him". excellent. now put percy on the news fake crying about his "loving" stepfather i believe in you
i did want them to acknowledge annabeth's lack of experience with the world outside camp but having her say "i've never seen any kind of movie" has gotta be one of the weirdest ways they could've done that
the turnstile scene was cool i guess but as we go on i'm more and more conscious of how many episodes are left and how much plot there is to get through and idk i feel like this scene could've hit the cutting room floor and we wouldn't have lost anything
i do love the ambience of the park though. maybe i'm easy to impress because the aesthetic of an abandoned amusement park is just fantastic on its own but the set was very cool. wish it wasn't so dark so i could've actually seen it ❤️
percy and annabeth having a serious conversation with 'what is love' blaring in the background is sending me
first ever seaweed brain dropped! i liked the way they did it, it felt natural
actually back to the "i've never seen a movie" thing. you're telling me that in this version of the story, in which frederick chase was apparently a great dad who treated annabeth like a gift, he never took her to the movies? or she never watched one on tv? she had a whole seven years of life in the real world before going to camp and she's never seen a movie
annabeth isn't allowed to have fears she's too smart for that apparently
i think the scene with the chair was overall well executed with some great lines and fantastic acting but... idk. they really scrapped the original scene just to do what they already did last episode. i miss the spiders i miss hephaestus tv. it felt redundant to have percy sacrifice himself again. percy this is the second time today you've been like "no dw i'll just die" do you need to talk to someone
annabeth disillusionment arc complete already? calm down guys this is season one
ZOO TRUCK ZOO TRUCK ZOO TR
so it's confirmed the reason they go into the lotus casino is BECAUSE hermes is there :/ they said these literal children cannot fall for tricks and traps it's too unrealistic
not much to say about the grover and ares scenes bc i don't know what to make of them. i didn't mind them. ares had some funny lines. i guess my only complaint is that the grover i know would not have been so calm talking to the god of war. i'm curious to see where that cliffhanger leads
is it just me or did the pacing improve a little bit this episode?
despite how negative i sound i enjoyed episode 5 a lot more than episode 4. there are still so many weird changes, additions, and omissions though. honestly i think a big part of the reason i enjoyed this one is because i'm not expecting anything anymore. i'm not getting my hopes up about them adapting the book normally i'm just intrigued by this thing like a scientist observing an experiment. like hmm what are they doing now? fascinating *takes notes*

hi it’s me, the person who thinks completely normal thoughts about lethal company. Anyway if you have employee oc’s, what is there role in actual moon looting, and how do they treat eachother in the ship. Also do they have a fave piece of loot and least fave monster?
I have 4 employees, a whole crew, so this might get a bit long :)
Fifty-Six :
"Human" (absolutely not)
Ship captain! has the most experience of the whole crew (they've been here way longer than anyone else. longer than anyone could survive this job)
Maybe a little too happy about the job. takes it very seriously
Prefers to go alone hates taking equipment bc it takes up space they could use for something else
prides itself on efficiency . has everything down to a system
looks scary but they're actually pretty nice and soft (both figuratively and literally)
pretty secretive, mostly lying through omission . doesn't like to talk about themself
doesnt like to be seen without the suit and helmet on. it has to happen eventually but it hates it, raises too many questions. it can try to look more human but its not perfect.
has a tier list in its head of every single piece of scrap for deciding priority of what to take back to the ship. it has a second tier list for if it gets hungry
huge soft spot for cute things. likes rubber ducks and plushies and things like that . will make exceptions in it's efficiency and priorities to take them even if they're low worth
Feels like they need to be doing something with their hands constantly
really likes Zachary, they're very close. doesn't want anything to happen to it... will agree to go together with Zachary despite usually preferring to go alone
likes Elliot, she's alright, she works hard. thinks she's a bit too reckless and hard on herself
alright with Morgan. they don't entirely get along but it's not too bad so it's alright . he notices the weird looks Morgan gives him, no clue what that's about.
Zachary :
Masked picked up from Rend after it tried to hide in a ship and the autopilot left
got "hired" by The Company. it doesn't like this. but it doesn't have a choice
it promises promises PROMISES it won't infect its coworkers. but it wants to so bad. it wants to help them. but it won't.
TERRIFIED of The Company building. absolutely refuses to leave the ship there. Fifty let's this slide, it doesn't mind having to carry some extra scrap to the desk
absolutely refuses to wear the helmets, its uncomfortable and its worried it'll get scratched or something . its fine without it,if that was going to hurt them it would've a long time ago
needs to go with someone in the facilities, becomes very distressed if alone for too long
it'll take equipment if asked, but it often forgets to use things like walkie talkies. it also struggles using it (it has a hard time with the buttons and small things like keys are really hard for it to hold)
hates this job and wants to leave but its scared of what would happen
very touch starved and having no other maskeds around has been effecting it.. (if it does see other maskeds on the moons it'll follow them around instead of its crew)
it wants to be closer with the others, at least El and Morgan are cautious around it. they dont really trust it much
El trusts it more at least, if 56 cant go with it it'll usually goes with her instead (also because Morgan usually stays in the ship but if they do go in still Zachary will more likely go with Elliot)
Morgan doesn't trust it much, they've dealt with maskeds before
Fifty-Six on the other hand, Zachary REALLY likes him. he doesn't mind it being around and hes nice to it
Zachary is like the first of the crew to have seen 56 without his helmet after it found him with it like completely torn apart. it was really worried about him, scared it got hurt. 56 was alright though dont worry
Elliot :
ACTUALLY a human
mostly goes by El instead of Elliot
youngest of the crew, not much experience but good with a shovel
pretty confident going in the facility, will often lead or even go alone. but absolutely CANNOT deal with coil-heads or nutcrackers. all that confidence goes away when they have to
he has automatonophobia and scopophobia. terrible combination to have here if im being honest
helmet is slightly dented after she tried running from a thumper and slammed into a metal pipe (did get away from it, shes still alive obviously . but that did hurt)
his nose was like broken before, never healed the same so its kinda crooked (this was before being at The Company, probably from getting in a fight as a teenager)
he tends to be kind of hard on himself, very apologetic when he makes any sort of mistakes.
his hair feels like shit. its been like bleached to hell so its all brittle and shit
none of the crew have anything against El but they did agree that if anything happens shes dies first (they have not agreed on what "anything happens" or "dies" entails though)
respects 56 a lot, almost exclusively refers to it as 'captain' . nobody else really cares about that, its just El who does that
trusts Zachary more than Morgan does, still cautious because she knows what it can do but believes it that its not going to do that
El and Morgan are rlly cool with each other. she likes to listen to them talk about whatever, they know a lot about stuff and El thinks thats cool
Morgan :
also actually human
mostly does ship duty but does also go in the facility sometimes, pretty good at it.
also takes the job seriously, not as much as 56 though. just wants to be safe, make sure nobody gets killed
they were on a different crew before this one. it didn't end well..
very dry and kind of snippy, they do care though just arent good at showing it
they kinda rlly seem like an asshole but will open up to people sometimes it just takes a while
very interested in xenobiology, got the job to get to observe the moons wildlife more directly. theyre fine with doing the rest of it though
really good at dealing with the creatures because of that
despite not being the fighter of the group they have taken down nutcrackers before, El will not so they deal with that instead.
only one on the ship who actually has first aid training. usually is the one to have to deal with that. only ever seen Elliot and Zachary get hurt though, Fifty-Six is somehow always fine
very suspicious of Fifty-Six, knows something's up with him but doesn't say anything because they don't wanna start shit with whatever kind of alien beast it is
cautious as hell around Zachary, doesn't like to be alone with it. they've seen what maskeds do to people and they don't like it.
but they've never actually interacted with a masked for so long so it's.. an interesting experience at least. there's not much documented about them so this is the most they've gotten to know about maskeds
Elliot and Morgan are chill, Morgan will often talk to her about different things. she's a good listener.

Okay so for a while now I've had an absolute Galaxy brained theory about Iono from Pokemon SV.
Namely, the theory is that she's straight up actually not human but is a Rotom.  As ridiculous as this theory is, I figured I may as well record all the reasons that led me to come to that conclusion, initially as a joke.  I don’t necessarily think it’s TRUE, but think all the details are worth compiling and sharing, so humor me.  If the pace of this seems weird, it’s cuz I’m adapting it from a twitter thread I just made.  Anyways, heads up, this post will contain spoilers for major game plot point.  I won’t spoil things directly but there’s allusions to really important stuff.  Anyways, as ridiculous as this sounds, I actually find it pretty interesting, so hear me out.
So for starters, first and foremost: her mouth.  She has the same mouth as Rotom, just like any mechanical object Rotom inhabits.  What she DOESN'T have is Rotom's eye color, but Rotom's eye color specifically changes based on what it's inhabiting, it is only blue in base form and the phones.  There's more to it though.   Second most obvious is her personality.  She's a mischievous little shit and it is frankly the best thing about her.  As simple as this is, it also completely describes how Rotom act.  Third simplest is that wild Rotom live nearby, even if they’re rare enough people are startled at the idea of seeing one outside a Rotomphone.
Initially though, this just made me think it was EXTREMELY weird she didn't have a Rotom on her team.  This woman kind of looks like a rotom, notably has a personality like one, and lives near them, it feels like a glaring omission.  This caused me to jokingly hypothesize "Oh, she's a Rotom that is inhabiting an android body or an electronic doll, which is why she doesn't have a Rotom on her team".  Of course it was a joke, this is all pretty circumstantial evidence.  While it still is absolutely a goofy “what if” even now, it started to become a bit less of a joke as I thought about it.
The next bit's circumstantial but starts to add up with the other stuff.  Every gym leader in Paldea has an off type Pokemon that they Terastralize to be on type.  For all of them there's logic to it, even if strange.  Teddyursa like Honey -> bug (and it’s used by a pastry chef, thus would have honey).  Sushi chef sends out crab, sudowoodo goes from fake grass type to real grass type and the trainer considers it a form of performance art, Staraptor loses flying weaknesses, which goes into Larry’s side job, the musician has a guitarist, the cosmetic and perfume woman has a flowery fairy, the guy in the alps has a cloud bird who becomes protected from a 4x weakness.  All of them make sense and are on theme for the trainer’s brand, occupation, or the pokemon’s competitiveness.   Except for Iono's Mismagius.   So Iono for some reason has a ghost type that has nothing to do with electric type or her occupation.  Humorously enough, this makes Electricity Iono's primary type, and Ghost her secondary.  I can't think of any other reason for a mismagius other than perhaps, once again, “She’s a little shit” which is.... a lot more vague than all the rest.
This is where things start to go from design and personality quirks to being actively strange.
If you talk to people around the city, some of them will comment on something weird they noticed about Iono when they think about it: she doesn't age.  They say she's been streaming for years (How many is unclear, but from the dialogue, presumably at least five to ten) and still looks the same, and they have no idea how old she is because of it.   Add to this the weird glitchy looking twitches she does both in and out of battle whenever she's startled (it is very much blink and you’ll miss it in battle), which I initially thought was simply a bad animation, and let’s be very real, it might be, this game was way overcrunched.
Anyways,  all this was stuff I noticed as I was playing through the main storyline and it felt increasingly weird and consistent, despite the implausibility of it all.  In fact, the implausibility of it all was the main thing bugging me and making me keep dismissing it as just a fun what-if.  Pokemon world technology is advanced, sure, but not advanced enough to make a totally visually convincing lifelike animatronic or android.
And then uhhhhh.... And then I beat the game.
As I said, I’m going to limit spoilers, but the whole "Technology isn’t advanced enough to make an android body humanlike enough to fool people into thinking it is one" is uhhh, no longer the case.  Albeit there are caveats to that.  Anyhow, what led me to decide to actually compile everything an actually post it was that a few minutes ago, I noticed something explicit enough that it ACTUALLY STARTLED ME, even though I've known about it this whole time but never put much thought into.
Iono’s outfit.
Tumblr media
(wait I just noticed putting this together that she also has Rotom’s horizontally split pupils, shit).  Anyways, back to her outfit.  Without straying TOO far into spoiler territory, her outfit is interesting because of her inner outfit.  It is very specifically a lattice of iridescent Hexagons.  And now I’m starting to think again about how her outfit appears to be a modified straightjacket, complete with belts to restrain someone.
I don't expect us to ever get official confirmation on this, but wanted to share it.
Also, because I sure as heck didn’t consider why it might be significant for a while, if you need a clue as to why her outfit being comprised of a lattice of iridescent hexagons is important, then without getting too much into endgame plot details, I’ll leave you with “what are they that would make this important” as opposed to the “Why is this important”

What's a lie Hotch and Reid believe about each other?
This was fun!! Decided to do just sweet idiot relationship stuff as well as Sad Stuff bc. It’s me.
And bc I have soooo many different verses where they’re in a relationship in many different ways, then this is just for like. Post-Haley divorce getting together and staying that way verse, so basically any of my NICE fics lmao.
•Hotch snores, and it drives Spencer crazy. Spencer, however, also snores- Hotch just tells him that he doesn’t because he knows that Spencer would probably implode if he realised.
•Spencer always says he likes The White Album because it’s Hotch’s favourite. He first realised it was a bad move when Hotch bought them tickets to see a tribute band perform the album in full, but he’s too committed to the lie now to admit he has an irrational hatred of Paul McCartney. (“It’s the eyes, Morgan, I just can’t trust him, he looks as though he’s always plotting something.”)
And now for the Sad Stuff!
CW internalised homophobia, drug use
•Spencer doesn’t know how much Hotch struggled with his sexuality before (and during the start of) their relationship. It’s not exactly a lie, but an omission of the truth- Hotch had issues with accepting the fact he was attracted to men due to his shitty home life as a child, and didn’t want to bring it up in case Spencer thought he was ashamed of being with him. He got over it, though, and those struggles are just a fleeting memory.
•Spencer told Hotch that he never had any sexual history with Ethan. He’s not really sure exactly why he lies about it, but he feels weird about admitting that they did, especially regarding the time when he missed the plane in New Orleans.
•Spencer says that he’s completely over his addiction, and pretends that he doesn’t still get days where all he wants is dilaudid. He knows he won’t relapse, but he doesn’t want to worry Hotch by telling him how difficult it can be sometimes.
•Hotch is secretly convinced that he’s not interesting or clever enough to keep up with Spencer. If he ever decided to mention it, Spencer would tell him it’s not at all true and his insecurities are lying to him, but Hotch is too afraid that he’d agree.

I still think it's a shame that we haven't had anything in the show related to johnny and miyagi emotionally -- what I mean by that is that, yes, we've had him mentioning larusso's sensei that beat him and his friends up (during his "daniel was the real bully" rewrite of events), and there was daniel in the training-bit that pointed out that miyagi was a badass who defeated kreese (was it in the training bit, I think so), but johnny had nothing really to say to that, and there's "no be there," which was framed as a joke (that's a whole other tangent)
off the top of my head -- which, it has been a few months since I've gone through the whole thing -- that's all we've had, but miyagi saved johnny's life, and I think that's worthy of writing something about. johnny is consistently derisive about miyagi-do, but quite apart from whether or not he thinks teen!daniel could defeat him at the all-valley, miyagi definitely got kreese without breaking a sweat, and johnny's ptsd-envisioned almost getting choked to death several times on this show, but it always ends before he gets rescued
idk, this is kind of not-fully-thought-out, but it's to do with the way that the show never fully completes the inwards spiral it was doing to bring johnny into the karate kid story (it may in s6... but since johnny's storyline is now "new baby out of nowhere, not at all related to any of his growth and certainly not carmen's" it's doubtful). s1 johnny is supposed to be abrasive and unwilling to have anything to do with miyagi-do (except for when he does, episode 9 my beloved), and then bit by bit he's being brought from his "side" of the narrative into daniel's narrative, which he merely played a part in initially (I say, as if I haven't read 100 fics in which he and daniel got it on at prom) and has been unwilling to see what that part entailed, because if they weren't equally matched nemeses and he did just beat him up several times because he didn't like him, then what does it mean that his father-figure tried to kill him for failing to beat him at a teen karate tournament?
they pay lip-service to some of that with the whole miyagi-fang + training montage bit, but of course s5 then does nothing with it, but what I mean is that if johnny really belonged in daniel's story - because this is the miyagi-verse, not the daniel or johnny verse - I really wanted him to acknowledge the role miyagi played in his life, and to be respectful of that. he's acknowledged that kreese was bad for him, and nearly killed him, but that's idk... the anger and betrayal part of it all. on the other side of that was daniel's mentor/father, a story which he didn't belong in (perhaps doesn't feel like he deserved to be in, cycle of abuse etcetc), but for a moment intersected with his, and now deliberately intersects with his, he wants to intersect with his, and miyagi's ghost hovers over all of it
it's unfortunate that they dragged johnny back to a safe place (for them), where his character development barely still applies, and it's probably-definitely to do with getting him away from daniel, so "not-talking-about-miyagi" isn't the highest on the list of things that has jarringly thrown johnny out of the main storyline and into his own weird stepford hellscape, but it's up there for me alongside "you're alright larusso," as the most puzzling omissions from the show, because it's... it's right there. the easiest character development in a show that's all about being incredibly on the nose with its arcs
once upon a time I thought "nah, they'll leave it for the end, because it's the perfect ending," but now we are... here. whatever end s5 was doing. and it's a little bit more *chuckles, you remember that johnny told daniel that he was alright and handed him the trophy right? you remember that miyagi stepped in to save johnny's life when he was a kid right? you remember that those were two significant scenes that happened... right?*
ah well vive le fanfiction, especially with this show 😂
TL;DR I think johnny saying a few words about miyagi (respectful ones, not s1 johnny ones) would bring johnny into the karate kid story properly, by acknowledging the role miyagi played in his life

i've been reading this fic for a while that's handling the s2 cheating so strangely. like, it's flat out acknowledged as cheating and jonathan tells steve what happened at murray's. steve just kind of swallows down his reaction then never talks about it again which imo doesn't align at all w his previous behavior but if it was further addressed later i wouldn't mind that much. then, nancy (and jonathan as her doormat) keep forcing steve to spend time w them even tho he's clearly uncomfortable; steve also doesn't say anything about this even tho, in the situations shown, he would have no reason to be willing to force down his feelings about this. then eddie (this is set immediately post s2 btw and makes steddie friends for unrelated plot reasons) is like "she cheated on you, that's fucked up, why are you still friends w her" and steve says it's complicated bc of the upside down but nothing to do w the upside down is happening at this point to make steve willing to look past this. this is also made further annoying by a scene of eddie and wayne talking where wayne outright says eddie seems more bothered by the cheating than steve which ???? this all keeps going until nancy ends up apologizing for hurting steve w the bullshit speech and w/e but not for the cheating or the lying by omission which led to jonathan telling steve instead of her? as in the cheating is not mentioned at all in the scene. then stoncy are all besties. like it makes no fucking sense to me. steve should be absolutely furious for like 15 different reasons at this point. like nancy cheated on him, lied to him about it by omission, put the onus of the breakup on him in the process, just let him say all that stuff about being a shitty boyfriend (tho she did apologize for that specifically and said he wasn't), forced him to interact w her and her new boyfriend she cheated with despite steve clearly being uncomfortable, and potentially just let jonathan be the one to tell steve about the cheating w no comment or acknowledgement. it's unclear whether nancy knows jonathan told steve. but steve just does not get to be angry or feel any type of way about any of this, forgives nancy after one conversation that barely touched on any of that, and is now completely comfortable being friends w jancy. anybody would be Going Through It atp but esp steve considering his canonical issues w infidelity like wtf. then i feel like all of this is made worse by the purposeful juxtaposition w eddie's reaction which is heavily implied to be bc he's jealous since he has a crush on steve, as opposed to him possessing baseline empathy for other human beings. it's just so baffling but i am unfortunately invested in the main plot of this fic so i just keep suffering. sorry this got so long it is just so confusing to me.
people are so weird about the cheating. some of it comes from the person writing preferring j/ncy, and so not wanting to acknowledge it. and then i think some of it comes from people just not wanting to… shit all over jonathan and nancy? they don’t really know how to fully recognise that the cheating was bad without totally vilifying jonathan and nancy.
i think fics like you’re talking about are also influenced by the way steve’s depicted as a total doormat within the fandom. people just don’t know how to write him standing up for himself, putting himself first, and not needing someone else to fight his battles.
this is obviously just my opinion, but i fully believe neither steve or nancy spoke, like, at all post s2. steve because he was heartbroken, and nancy because it was fucking awkward! and she’s not gonna put herself through that lmao. so i always find it… idk, maybe a little ooc when people have them immediately jump to spending time together post s2.
i think with eddie, people want to push the romance as quickly as possible, so any empathy or anything he feels for steve is obviously being influenced by his feelings. so, you end up with stuff like the fic you’re talking about, where eddie only seems to feel bad for steve because he wants to date him.

OMG… rambling here or ram as you said (which is so cute btw? living for it <33) just to say i consider you a friend too!! (with all the similar interests and thoughts we have itd be a crime not too) its not weird at all no worries, honestly really glad you think its the case because with the amounts of asks i sent i was worried that id be giving you inspiration for joren’s behavior jajaja
on another note, the many scenarios other people spoke about gave me a brain rot woah… for example, the cornering hed to the mc, what if the mc put his hand in front of him as to calm him down but instead he grabs their hand and kiss it while pleading for their help because he needs the mc………. (WITH A MC THAT IS COMPLETELY NEW TO SEXUAL STUFF TOO WITH THE GUILT AND ALL PHEW) or even the thought of mc dying made me wonder, since you talked about violent mc in the past, what about if a mc tried to kill him (stabby stabby im thinking) in a moment of panic if theyre scared of his advances and remembered the trauma of being forcefully taken away already once? then what would happen? and what would happen if joren accidentally killed the mc??? cause thats a delicious plot line to think of: so used to violence you murder accidentally a loved one, frankenstein monster style AAAA (if you ever make a gc for this story like some authors do… itll be wild from the amount of theories)
AHHH, you have no idea how nervous I was while writing that. I was afraid that I'd be crossing some boundaries, PHEW! And don't worry, I've met intense people before, and all you've ever come across is friendly!
And yeah, we really share some brain cells!! Maybe the real yanderes were the friendships we made along the way! Jajaja!!
Tumblr media
But going back to our babygirl!
"[...] he grabs their hand and kiss it while pleading for their help because he needs the mc". That's soo good?? I'm swooning.
But I'm taking it even further! He's fine with the dirty thoughts lol, and he already knows that MC wants him, so this feels like a (kinky) play. Joren is taking a role and giving MC a scenario to indulge themselves.
And that man is nothing but committed! So after he confesses that the someone he can't have is MC, he would ask for a kiss. So he can know what it feels like, they won't even be sinning since a simple kiss doesn't break any rules (technically), and they'd even be helping a sinner in need.
But when MC kisses him, he would take advantage of their naivety about sex. It's not a sin to roam their body with his hands. It's not a sin to bite and use tongue. It's not a sin to press them close to him and put his thing between their legs.
And they're allowed to masturbate, so rutting against each other is fine. They can use his body (hands, things, tongue) to get off, it's not sex, right?
omg.... I know I said he can't lie, but I haven't realized the power this holds. From now on, he can lie with technicalities, half-truths, and by omission.
---
And making a sudden change of topic! MC trying to kill him in a spur of panic would be better received that a MC who tried to do it with a plan in mind.
If he knows it was because they panicked, he'd try to calm them down, which could backfire and make MC even more hostile. And here's where the tragedy (potentially) comes in.
Joren reminds MC of their trauma, and MC reminds him of his. Both lash out in response, making everything worse, until Joren gets blinded by his feelings, uses a little too much force, and kills them by accident.
It'd go the same way as I described it before, but Moon's reaction would be different.
If Joren kills MC before they make a decision by accident, then Moon would give them a miracle. Not in this life, though, in this one Joren goes crazy and stays with MC's corpse for the rest of his days.
And authors make GROUP CHATS?? What. I actually had no idea! Like in discord??

OKAY. so I've talked to ppl about much of Jun's data appearing in Tek2. Which, some ppl have told me it's probably because she was just a placeholder to test the game early in development, as well as since Jin uses some of her moves, it was for that purpose. But upon looking at the cutting room floor....
Tumblr media
transcript [regarding unused announcer callouts]:
"Jun Kazama!" - A character from Tekken 2 whose absence plays into the storyline motivations for protagonist Jin Kazama. Has a lot of additional data present, including her name, a completely new character portrait, her voice clips (all leftover from Tekken 2), and placeholder fighter data detailed below. A rather late omission, as Harada stated in a 2010 forum post that "Jun's data was included in Tekken 3 because there was still a possibility she may appear at that time."
"Kazuya Mishima!" - The protagonist of the first Tekken, & antagonist of Tekken 2. Has additional data for his name, as well as voice clips, which like Jun, are all leftover from Tekken 2. Harada described his data in Tekken 3 as "a prototype of Jin", presumably as Jin's moveset uses Kazuya's from the first 2 Tekken games as a base.
OKAY. OKAY. So Harada CONFIRMED that Jun's data wasn't there just for development testing, BUT because they DID have an idea she could've actually been in the game. Meanwhile, Kazuya was confirmed to only be there to test Jin out. This all supports my old theory.
That early in development... Tekken 3 was gonna have a different story. Jin wasn't gonna avenge Jun, but instead he was gonna avenge Kazuya. I can't find my original post bc Tumblr search feature blows. But I'll just show my evidence on this post, this can be the Updated Theory post.
Tumblr media
Here's Jun in the game! Her portrait is a reused render from Tekken 2, which led people to believe she was only there to test out Jin's moves. According to TCRF, Harada did think they could've used her at one point. But how... if she was dead?
Finally, the answer...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
TRANSCRIPT: The son of Kazuya and Jun, Jin Kazama has entered the tournament to defeat the evil force that destroyed his father, the "God of Fight." Jin will not rest until he destroys the evil force the corrupt his father.
Weird that a magazine would give a totally different synopsis than what's in the game, right? It could be that the magazine was informed of the scrapped plot. This could be why there was a possibility for Jun to "still appear at the time". Because Jun wasn't going to be dead. This also means that Ogre was indeed SUPPOSED to be 100% related to the devil gene. Perhaps he was even gonna be like Azazel, and had been the one who created the devil gene given the "evil force that DESTROYED/CORRUPTED his father."
So, I think the initial plot would've played out like this: Jun's still alive and well but Jin notices a certain sadness to her. Maybe Ogre still rises the same way and Jun feels the exact same energy that she did with Kazuya. Perhaps after a struggle with Ogre (this time with Jun making it out alive) Jin questions what Ogre is, and Jun finally tells Jin everything about Kazuya and what happened to him, and how Ogre is the source of the devil gene. Jin, instead of hating Kazuya, views his father as a victim. Upset with what happened to his father, as well as never having a father in his life, Jin is determined to kill Ogre for cursing Kazuya. Perhaps he still goes to Heihachi, who knows. Jun may be there to help support her son. With this in mind, Jin may have been just a complete clone of Kazuya in terms of gameplay, rather than being a mix of both his parents. But since this was likely very early in development, who could say?
Either way, I feel like Jin avenging Kazuya was the very initial concept for the character! It would've been interesting to see how this version would've played out...

GAMES PLAYED IN 2022 - RANKED
11) Knack 2
Boring, standard gameplay, visual presentation, music and story. Not much here, but a kid may be into it, especially with the co op carrying a lot of the weight.
10) The King of Fighters XV
Tumblr media
More King of Fighters, it's solid but lacks innovation and single player content, while also being very expensive as of now. The visual presentation is a stark improvement from XIV, and the roster is very strong.
9) Chibi-Robo!
Tumblr media
Cute and unique, provides a lot of cool ideas coupled with genius sound design, a surprisingly cool story and memorable characters. Could have done with a more focused second act, but it never stops being fun.
8) Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Tumblr media
The peak of the series to me, with amazing art direction and great combat led by a simplified control system that still gives all the depth you want. Mechanically engaging all around, with a great roster to boot. Online isn't so hot though.
7) Final Fantasy VII
Tumblr media
The glowing reception paints an accurate picture of a touchstone of the medium, with one of my favorites storylines in an RPG, alongside a dynamic, customizable fighting system, great music and a fun world to indulge. Only criticism comes from the lack of a few quality of life implementations, omissions that were common at the time.
6) SoulCalibur II
Tumblr media
A great showcase of a single player-focused fighter, with fun controls and mechanics, a cool roster and great music, with lots of content to explore. Weird and funny mission design is coupled with light RPG elements to provide some extended playtime, and it very much works.
5) No More Heroes
Tumblr media
A very funny game, maybe the most funny I've played in a while. It has simple combat controls that shine through in the focused, challenging boss fights, pitting the protagonist against a great roster of characters. Everything is punctuated by banger music and stylish visual direction. The loop of doing part jobs in a hub world for money to enter in new levels might turn some off, but it helped me further connect with the story. The ending is also great, a complete left turn.
4) Sonic Frontiers
Tumblr media
Sonic's next 3D formula kicks off to a great start, with controls and level design that complement each other to create open stages that are just fun to move around. The combat is also surprisingly varied, carrying along some of my favorite boss fights in any game. An emotional, fascinating storyline and amazing score complete the package. There's a noticeable lack of polish, and the latter half of the game feels rushed, but the strong pacing and base gameplay manage to hold the game and carry it to the finish line, which - while controversial - absolutely satisfied me. Looking forward to what else they can do with this take on Sonic.
3) Resident Evil (2002)
Tumblr media
Couldn't ask for a better introduction to survival horror. While the creepy atmosphere and jump scares are absolutely on point, the strength of the game is on its replay value, making sure it has a shelf life long after it stops being scary to the player. The puzzle design is smart and the story is fun to figure out. An absolute masterclass.
2) Doom (2016)
Tumblr media
Provides old school design sensibilities with a modern touch, making a game with the best of the past and present. Everyone already knows about the soundtrack, but it's still worth noting what a classic on its own it became. The gameplay loop is extremely well calibrated, leading to an aggressive play style fitting of the story and main character. Everything in the presentation helps solidify the core feelings of the work, in what feels like a very focused, hand crafted piece. A joy from beginning to end.
1) Rayman Legends
Tumblr media
Everything I could have asked for and more. My expectations were quite high and I came out as satisfied as I wanted to be. No bad levels, no lesser moments, a game that left no aspect of it without oozing polish and creativity. Absolutely recommend it.

So, Needle fashion anon again now to talk on the actual event and stuff. It's hard to keep up with it all and I would like to take on board some of the points brought up by you, and I guess who is now Fashion anon 1 xD
Firstly, because i just remembered off the top of my head, Eddie Redmaynes suit really does not look as though it fit him very well even at first glance. All the points Thread anon made were accurate. The fit is a disaster. It is of course possible that there was initially a different outfit planned for which he got fitted but it became unavailable, or got damaged or something and they had to put him into something else last minute and didn't have time to readjust it. Those arms don't look like they could be raised higher than his chest….
With Jimin, it took me a minute to to take in his look because something felt off and I think it had everything to do with the complete omission of accessories. and clearly lots of people felt like this. At first I thought it was to align with the styling from the Dior collection that was on the runway but even they have been styled with some jewelry, or at the very least earrings here and there. His look was extremely neutral. But at least it fit him really well and the little texture that came from his pullover underneath was nice. I do not like Dior boots, never have never will, so there goes my take on that. I generally dislike the opics of having bricks strapped to your feet. I though Hoseok was trying to have his shoes serve as a gateway to swallow him into the ground. Luckily everyone can have their own opinion and nothing has to be universally liked.
But considering, as I had expected going jsut from the already seen SS collection, that the entire Dior show was neural af I am not surprised by what Jimin ended up wearing.
Overall, mens fashion for a lot of these is just not very exciting. Especially in the current zeitgeist. A lot of fashion has been skewing quite conservative recently. Even a bunch of the other shows I've had time to watch felt very held back. Both in in terms of silhouette and colour even for Fall/Winter colelctions which tend to be more muted anyway. Though all quite distinctly retro influenced.
Now to the Dior show. Am i the only one that kind of got the vibe that the whole styling of the Dior show was very 70's ish but felt like the 1940's 50's? With a really weird contrasting depiction of a wealthy silhouette opposite a working class one??? It's in the, what other Fashion Anon observed in the Scottish sort of styling with the draped jumpers and the lose schoolboy trousers but then those sleeves. Those damn sleeves which have this drawstring just under or over the elbow, which look like sleeve protectors which you would use when you're working and the way the raincoats are styled. I guess they are going out to sea to gut some fish.
The show was flip-flopping between a look so impractical that it could only be suited not to work in, and followed by another look which held all the visual trappings of a workday outside from 5am-5pm. Maybe I'm interpreting too much but I felt so weird watching the whole show. It felt like it was trying to make class commentary in a bizarre way. It has the feeling between a work uniform for different classes of citizens. I found the music reinforced that a bit as well. Very strange.
Also have a bit of a hot take on the whole, styling Korean men in Western history inspired fashion, and will say: Isn't this what has already happened everywhere? In a vast majority of what I will, now very broadly and insensitively, call the colonialised parts of the world, they wore, as their day-to-day, their traditional clothes. Colonialist ideas of what is considered "normal clothing" has already erased vast amounts of the unique styles worn by different cultures. At this point the global fashion market has already been westernised quite agressively.
Nuance is presently only observed on the small scales. Just hints of what was once a gloriously diverse set of clothing styles based on what was locally available and slowly but effectively erased over the past century.
Perhaps this is why dressing up in historical fashion has been such a trend recently. It reestablishes individual culturally centered agency which a globalised world is increasingly eroding.
The founders of western fashion brands started their labels because they were sure they could bring interesting, new styles to the table. The House of Worth and the later following subsequent rise of off the peg clothing put an eventual end to a global tradition of made to measure. Somewhere in there, expression, may it be cultural or individual, was lost for the sake of ease.
Fashion is so commercialised nowadays that I sometimes look at the runways and wonder if I'm just looking at the same thing over and over again if I don't pay attention.
Anyway I think I got a bit off track, this happens to me sometimes. Hopefully there's something valuable in here. I'll be glad to hear if either you or the other anon have any takes.
As I did in my previous response to your intake, I'll personally focus on some of the aspects that haven't been previously touched upon in order to address some of the questions that I have because the rest is just a really good addition on your part on the Dior show and the Western takeover and influence.
You mentioned that fashion lately has been going into a more conservative direction. If I understand correctly, that's also reflected in the Dior collection and others as well. I wonder why? Is it cyclical and bound to change as some point? (Though it would make sense, as with a lot of other aspects of our lives).
To me, art is a reflection of society. It's a mirror and on the fringes, it may try and fight back. I see that quite clearly with cinema and other forms of media and the changes that have happened in the last decades. Maybe it's of a different nature, but conservatism is on the rise there as well because it reflects the rise of puritanism, which is a reaction to a different type of freedom of expression that is slowly disappearing now. I know it would be easier for me to find an answer if I knew some more fashion history. Conservatism in fashion could be related to commercialism, if I were to just throw some stuff here (I could be completely wrong, so sorry in advance if I'm just writing nonsense). Commercialization and big masses are directly linked. One cannot exist without the other and it's a process that started with the Industrial Revolution. Pop/mass culture is tied to that. Some lamented the rise of it, crying about the dismissal of High Culture for quite a few decades, while others in the second half of the 20th century, through the works in the field of cultural studies, tried to bring legitimacy to it, leaving behind conservative views of culture. We saw it in the rise of cinema, decorative objects, use of plastic in everything and Warhol added a big layer of bricks to it. Clothing is in that category as well, but then, I believe that luxury fashion houses throughout the 20th century have been an alternative, to create some sort of balance, but from an top to bottom position. Even the pret-a-porter was still high fashion compared to what the masses were wearing. That position perhaps created the creative ground for everything that we saw during that century and how it trickled down to the masses several seasons later. I guess it's still the case today, but the highly creative ground is not as fertile given the world we're living in? It's democratic, homogenous, conservative, some idea of individualism, all at the same time. I've also noticed that experts have been talking about the same blandness in architecture and interior design with the rise of minimalism, all that grey and how it's further interpreted. There's so much to discuss here anyway.
I will add a link here about House of Worth for anyone interested in reading more about that too.
As a last note and a bit unrelated, these talks are really making me a lot more interested in clothes and their significance. It actually started when I was doing the research for the piece I wrote on Jimin's photofolio. So many times I found myself reading something that I wouldn't really need for my post, particularly this book on Body Dressing and how clothing is tied to corporeality and the creation of the social body. It was trully fascinating. But the one which proved "useless" was when I was researching metaphorical meanings of mannequins and I ended up reading an entire academic article on Elsa Schiaparelli and her 1930s creations 😅.

I think asking what you're gonna do if there's no ep13 destiel is fair actually, because you do struggle to admit when you predicted something wrong. If it happens, yay for everyone! If it doesn't, you'll say you never said it would.
Well, that would be fair, if you've found a prediction I've made wrong. Not a lie 2po said I had wrong that I have a receipt I said the opposite. not a vague post saying I got a "spec" post wrong (not sure why you insist on confusing my leaks with spec.). not you getting confused what Rugaru is in french. Not you going GASP, min was just as confused about the finale fuckery as the crew itself while denying the og ending or omissions so you could feel like you won a point. Not memes. Not jokes. Not you incompletely reading a statement. Not you misreading one either. Cuz you guys do that a lot.
You got uh. Something about the marders. Which I have said many times don't care about, isn't spec, and isn't a leak, it's some randos yelling about their hateshipping of cockles in my inbox because I say people are friends and I don't care who they fuck. Someone's brother's sisters cousin? Cool? Like how many times do you fuckfaces need explained that even if you scream it a lot, I don't ship cockles, I don't care, and I don't track anyone's cum spots. I don't give a fuck. You are yelling about irrelevant stalker shit that has nothing to do with how TV is made.
Nonsense shit like that I've admitted I'm wrong on all the time. I've deleted memes and stuff to not spread misinfo over even the silly fan reactions, and been like yeah ok? I was wrong? Because for some reason, you cum guzzlers are so obsessed with my blog you have notifs on it and pay very close attention to my goddamn SHITPOSTS to go "AH HAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE DELETED A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CHECKMATE THE UNIVERSE IS FAKE." Bro. it's an instagram shit post. Calm down. It's not that deep, it's not a leak, but I figured out why yall get so fuckin lost so easy, cuz you think that's how leaks work. All you're doing is like. telling me you see cockles fucking in your own heads all the time by the way you're striking out at me talking about *THEIR FRIENDSHIP*.
Find leaks--actual leaks, not spec. Stop twisting that word. Stop pretending I'm talking about things as imaginary as you are. The market testing wasn't imaginary, berens' intent wasn't imaginary, the confession wasn't imaginary, the roadhouse wasn't imaginary, the omissions weren't imaginary, the script being real was not imaginary, the shape of the show was not imaginary, the CW being sold was not imaginary, the 18-49 demographic was not imaginary. These are what leaks look like. Come back to me when you can tell me something like. specific. about leaks. That I've been wrong on. Be clear. Speak up. You act like I get a lot wrong. What is it. I've asked 2po too. Many people asked 2po. 2po refuses to clarify, which is very weird, if I've done it a lot. Nobody can remember the oodles of things you claim I was wrong about, it's super weird. Like you all had a mass stroke and forget to be able to include details of what these are but for sure, This Definitely Happened.
What you're so desperate to scrape the floorboards under the barrel about is "general human error in day to day life", and buddy, that's just sad. For the confused, these are not leaks: Shitposts, memes, fan reactions to funny shit on instagram being posted or whatever, M&Gs (I mean they're leaks in the technical sense, but if I leaked you a taco bell order that's not gonna help you figure out TV).
OK? Great. Now we cleared that up.
Get back to me when you tell me what those Vague Things I Was Wrong About on real shit that actually matters and not your confusion about "instagram memes are not sources about completely unrelated shit that has nothing to do with the leaks or production." You guys are so lost in your j2 tinhat spiral you read everything is tinhatting, you think everyone extrapolates like you, like. This is some wild shit. No dudes, we're not gonna slap war about your imaginary tinhat universe. There's no j2 vs cockles going on here. There's J, J, and a bunch of furious J2 hats trying to make everything shipwar and exposing they've taken enough bluegreen psychic damage they're automatically turning everything into cockles themselves.
Because guess what. That list of shit that was real that you cried and denied?
this is just as real. Figure it out, fuckfaces.
It's over. You lost. Go home.
In the magical world where I'm as big a pretender as you are, and I finally got something meaningful wrong, I'd handle it like the shit listed above. "Okay? I was wrong?" but that's not gonna happen. Because that's not how reality works.

Alright, so it's been 5 months since I beat Chronicles and I'm somehow still hyperfixated really minor aspects of G2-3. It's like 3 am where I am, so forgive me for anything that makes no sense. This case has been literally keeping me awake at night; it's not even my favorite in the duology, so idk what's up with that.
Hidden for spoilers, even though this is a 5-year old game...
So I play through the case and I'm like "hehe funny robot man go brrrrrrr" like most people, I suppose. Really fun character with nice animations and oddly endearing character quirks. Peak witness right there.
Then I get to the concept art in the extras and Nuri's comments are basically like "yeah so he's like that because of the whole trauma thing"
This series is known for having all these kooky characters in them, and they really went and made one of them be quirky for a 100% serious in-universe reason. And they don't even mention it in game, just in some limited side content?? Like fine, the animations are cool and they fit the character quite nicely, but tbh it just makes it a bit more unsettling on rewatch to know where the concept came from.
So... uh... does that not feel weird to anyone else? I spent the last segments of the case amusing myself at what is essentially some guy's ptsd-related verbal tic thing.
This omission of this fact from the main game also feels odd... wouldn't something like this strengthen the motive of the character in question? It seems like it would contribute pretty heavily to the idea that Genshin Impact fucked him up.
To be a bit more general, I feel like G2-2 and G2-3 kind of downplay the mental health issues that come up in some of their key witnesses..? But then they go and treat a certain G2-4 character completely seriously. It feels weirdly inconsistent.
But I suppose that it could be argued that "unsettling" was the intent with the design though. In which case, good job, you did it.
But Vigil didn't try to murder someone so idk i guess the other two deserve it?

Also I'm gonna be switching to just enjoying XIV like any of my other interests, and am drawing back from any active community involvement. No tagging posts to get traction, deleted my sideblogs and Carrds, deleted years of "I'll get to this eventually" RP docs. I'm just damn tired of it. It started with witnessing the Tablecloth drama years ago, then it was Lalafell discourse, then Garlean RP'ers discourse, then the personal conflicts masked as community issues in big call-outs, then the confession blogs, and more. People largely hid behind anons, but Twitter has seemingly emboldened people for these "moral crusades" so much that they don't even hide behind Anon anymore when they spam the a Discord with threats and harassment or dig into week old posts to harass and mock the perceived "villains" as if it does anything other than traumatize someone and make themselves feel better. It's not even just that, it was the personal rumours being spread- which I know some people didn't intend- but there was an absolute distortion of facts and intent and omission of info and blatant spin-doctoring that led to more vile behaviour being directed at the people involved because a lot of these rumours made the situation look WAY worse than it actually was. I would kind of go through this push and pull where asks and tags would go unanswered when I'd withdrawl whenever some big Community Crisis would happen that wasn't just calling attention to a known predator, because it's like... okay, so what if I say the wrong thing or something gets misconstrued? What if I end up on the chopping block and people are at my throat before I can even open my mouth? Because guess what? It's happened to me. While I've never been part of any call-out or publicly "cancelled", I've gone through two traumatic events within the past few years where I was "cancelled" among a friend group because of a conflict with one person who just happened to have more social cred and got their story out first with all the distorted information to make it look like a completely black-and-white case of malice on my part. In the first case it was a friend of 9yrs who had a weird, unhealthy attachment to some male friends, who could never get a crumb of affection from the one she latched onto the most, so when he and I started dating she took it as a sign she wasn't good enough, and made an active effort to spread a vilifying narrative to mutual friends. The second case was only 2021 when a partner lashed out in patently emotionally abusive behaviour like weaponizing my housing instability trauma to imply negative things about me, and when I set multiple boundaries to halt the conversation, they were broken. I was then painted as the abuser when most of what I did was sit in a bed begging for him to stop and leave me alone. When I tried to say "Hey, I was abused actually" and offer my side, his narrative was "How DARE you accuse me, an abuse survivor, of abuse!" and at least two people had no issue with shit-talking me in private despite not even bothering to listen to my side. So when I see someone who, yeah, certainly fucked up, get absolutely fucking REEMED by people who have had no prior involvement and are operating and pure hearsay? It's triggering. It's legitimately triggering of the PTSD I have gone through in much smaller-scale cases. And I don't want ANY potential for involvement in it.
