You Scare Me, Professor: Chapter 49
Tumblr media
Summary: The reader is taking graduate classes at a local university in the wooded upstate New York. She is drawn to her professor, Dr. Joel Miller, though she is also inherently aware that he has something dark about him that she can't quite put her finger on. As the reader's attraction grows deeper, she has to decide whether to endure the danger or run away as fast as possible.
Pairing: Professor Joel Miller x f!reader
Franky Miller sat with her knees bent and her back against the headboard. She chewed away at her thumbnail, unable to focus on the page-turner she had in her lap. She closed the book and let out a quiet sigh, looking around the otherwise quiet, empty room. Chas laid on his side beside her, sleeping peacefully.
“Chas,” Franky whispered, half-hoping he wouldn’t wake up. The two of them had been worn out by the long drive and the family-fun shenanigans that followed. Still, she needed to talk to him. Something hadn’t settled right in the depths of her stomach. “Chas.” The tone of her voice grew more urgent and just a pitch louder.
“Hmm?” He didn’t open his eyes and pulled the top cover up closer to his chin.
Franky reached for her phone and glanced down at the last text message she had sent to Joel. He hadn’t replied.
“Chas, something’s wrong.” When he didn’t open his eyes or respond she said his name louder. “Chas!”
“What? What? What is it?” He sat up part way, startled and looking around. “What!” Chas’s eyes widened and he stared at Franky.
“Something’s wrong, Chas.”
“What?” He edged an inch toward her as if struggling to hear.
“This is going to sound ridiculous,” Franky went on. The look on her face made her husband all the more alert. “But do you remember when the kids were young and we had a code word?” She studied his expression and went on, “You know, like, if a stranger approached them and said, ‘your mom wanted me to give you a ride home’, we told Carol and Joel to ask them what our family code word was. Or, if they called us from somewhere and needed help but couldn’t say it out loud, they could just say the code word over the phone.”
“Grape Soda,” Chas grumbled, but flashed his wife a smile. “That was the code word.”
Franky smiled back and nodded adamantly, but put a hand to her lips as her smile faded. “Joel’s in trouble, Chas.”
“What do you mean?”
“I passed him in the hallway,” she went on, “Not long ago. He and WIll said they were going down for some bachelor party thing.”
“So, why do you think he’s in trouble?” Chas asked.
Franky sighed and looked him in the eye. “I should’ve picked up on it right away. He looked right at me. As the two of them passed me, Joel said they were going downstairs to have grape soda.”
Chas squinted his eyes and shrugged, but didn’t dismiss her feelings. “Do you think he was teasing because we were all reminiscing tonight? Or maybe he was referring to drinking beer as grape soda?”
Franky soaked it in. She listened to Chas’s probable reasons why their son might have said that to her. Both scenarios made sense. But so did hers. And internally she knew something wasn’t right. Mother’s intuition.
“I don’t think so, Chas.” She shook her head and right away he tossed the covers off and stepped out of bed, slipping his feet into the pair of slippers he’d left by the nightstand.
“I’ll go down to his room.”
“I tried calling,” Franky admitted, “No one picked up.”
“What about his cell?”
“No response. And I don’t know his girlfriend’s number.”
Chas looked around and then tossed a sweatshirt over his t-shirt. “I’m going to knock on the door. And then I’ll try Carol.”
Franky put a hand over her mouth again and then spoke. “Am I overreacting?” She asked, “I don’t want to disturb Carol on the night before her wedding.”
Chas put his hands on her shoulders and kissed her forehead. “You’re not overreacting. Mother’s intuition above anything else.”
She gave a forced, closed-mouth smile. “I’m going to text him again.”
“I’ll be right back.” Chas grabbed one of the key cards for their room and shoved it into the pocket of his plaid pajama pants. He then headed out into the hallway, taking it most of the way down until he got to the room where his son was staying.
With a hearty knock, Chas called out, “Joel?” He gave a listen. “(Y/N)?”
Nothing.
He knocked again and called out their names a second time. When no one answered, he followed with a third knock and then decided to head to Carol’s room. In the same fashion, he knocked on her door.
“Carol? It’s Dad.” He waited a moment and began to knock again, when the door swung open.
“Hey.” The television was on in the background and Carol had a bottle of Poland Spring in her hand. She looked at him with confusion in her eyes.
“Have you talked to your brother?”
Carol shrugged. “Earlier tonight.”
“Where’s Will?”
“Down at the bar.. I think. Why?” She squinted her eyes now. “Are they okay? Did something happen?”
Chas shook his head. “Your mother is just having trouble getting a hold of Joel, that’s all. She saw him and Will walk by earlier.”
“I’m sure they’re just downstairs having a few beers.”
“Yeah.” He ran a hand across the side of his face and sucked his teeth.
“Are they not down there?” Concern plagued her features, truly, for the first time.
“I haven’t gone down there yet,” Chas admitted, “I’ll just go take a peak to ease your mother’s mind.”
Carol let out a sigh of relief, “I’m sure that’s where they are.” She motioned to the pajama pants, “Maybe switch to jeans.. or even sweatpants before you go down.”
Chas huffed a laugh. “I’m sorry to bother you.”
“Never.” Carol leaned in and gave him a kiss on the cheek and a hug. “Tell Mom to stop worrying. Joel’s a big boy.”
“A mother’s worry never ends,” he informed her with a wink.
“I’ll text the two of them and let you know if they respond.”
“Thanks.” Chas nodded. “Goodnight. Get some rest.”
Carol gave a nod and kissed her hand, waving it toward him before closing the door.
Chas headed back to his room and reentered. Franky rose from her seated position on the edge of the bed.
“Well?” She asked right away.
“No answer at his room, but I just talked to Carol.”
“And?”
“She’s certain they’re at the bar downstairs. I’m going to check it out.” Chas pulled down his pajama pants, leaving him in his underwear as he glanced around the area.
“What the hell are you doing?” Franky asked him, making him chuckle.
“Carol recommended I change before I head down.”
Franky finally managed a little laugh and found a pair of jeans on top of their luggage bag, tossing it to him. “Please be careful.”
Chas nodded. “If I do find them at the bar, have I earned myself a drink?”
Franky smirked and held up a finger. “One drink.”
He made a cross over his heart. “You got it, honey.”

Tumblr media
Chapter 1: A Meeting in Brown
“Aemond!- Aemond!” You yell as you rush into the young silver-haired prince almost knocking him off his feet. You hadn’t seen him for a year by now, not by choice of course. Your father, Rickon Stark, hadn’t allowed you to visit King’s Landing due to a certain event at Driftmark. Sensing the rising tensions and not wanting his children involved. Your father hadn’t told you about a visit from the King to Winterfell especially did not inform you of your young prince tagging along. Finding yourself all but stealing him to get the boy alone.
“Y/N please” Aemond says, pushing you at arm's length away from him, head turned to the side only allowing you to view the right side of his face. Your face scrunched up in confusion trying to move out of his grip to catch his gaze. “Aemond, Look at me.. Aemond!” You raised your voice at his name, slowly growing more and more frustrated by his tough grip and his avoidant gaze.
Aemond snaps, gripping you tighter and forcing you closer to meet his one eyed gaze yelling with growing volume “Look at me then! Look how that bastard maimed me!” A soft gasp had left your lips by force of the sight, was this what had happened at driftmark? One of his nephews had stolen his eye?
All you felt you could do in the moment is attempt to reach up to his face, his grip only allowing you to reach to his jaw. The words you wanted to say to somehow comfort him were caught in your throat, what could you even say to comfort him?
He flicks his head out of your grasp “See? I’m hideous, even you don't look at me the same” he abruptly releases you and turns to leave you. You feel yourself reaching out for him “Wait! That’s not true! I just-“
“You just what! I can’t shoot a bow, I have to relearn how to swing a sword for gods sake! I’ll never even marry now, Lords won't even look at me let alone allow their daughters around me-“
“I’ll marry you then!”
The hall fell still for what felt like hours but was truly only a few moments, your eyes never left Aemonds and his to yours. Aemonds body relaxed, not out of relief but out of something else. “That’s not possible Y/N”
Frustration began to return to claw at your throat, “Why not! You just said that-“
“Your father said no already” Aemond admitted quietly but loud enough to stop you in your tracks he continues “Why do you think I came here? Your father said no and that's all that matters now!” Your noses are centimeters away from touching, there was no need to speak any louder than a whisper to each other.
“Wait for me then” Now having the opportunity to really reach to his face, lightly caressing the scar on his cheek below his eyepatch. “As much as I hate to think about it, My father won’t be around much longer. With Cregan as Lord, I’ll be as free as I can be to marry who I want.” You pause for a moment closing the gap closer between the two of you.
“Come back to Winterfell when that time comes, and ask for me then yourself, as a man” Your lips briefly kiss his cheek coming back to reconnect eye contact.
“As you wish my lady”
“Can I trust you with this Aemond?” Alicent says to her middle son within the confines of her chamber with the sound of the fire eating at wood filling the spaces of silence.
“Borros Baratheon will be more than happy to wed one of his daughters to Daeron, I have no doubts you will be able to secure their support.” Alicent stands from her chair to be more level with Aemond. “However the Starks, They stand true to their words even if they aren’t the one who had said them. I understand you and the Young Lady Stark, Y/N, have an affinity for each other, there’s no doubt of that. But you will also have to convince Lord Cregan that he is making the right choice.”
“You can put your faith in me mother, I will leave for Storm’s End on the marrow then make my way North to Winterfell. I shall not return empty handed.” Aemond puts it simply.
Aemond certainly will not return empty handed, he will bring you back to King's Landing regardless of the Lord of Winterfell's decision. All that would change is if he got a good rest beforehand. You had waited for each other long enough, he had waited too long and couldn’t, wouldn’t, allow a war to get in the way of his desires any longer. “I won’t let any bastard get in my way, Mother” is the last thing he says before turning to leave.
Aemond made haste to his own personal chambers all but slamming his door, readying to prepare his travel necessities. Soon, soon he will get to hold you and have you as his wife. He was denied more than once for your hand but now he will have it no matter what. Having your brother's support certainly would help the Greens win the war, though he would have no problem taking you from Winterfell himself if push came to shove.
“Y/N please, you’re acting like a child.” Cregan let out a long sigh, patience breaking into threads with every passing moment in your tantrum. “Me? A child? You’re trying to sell me off like a common whore!” You yelled back at your brother, tears streaming down your face and hair sticking to the tears, there was no doubt that multiple guards and maids have heard you by now even in the empty throne room. “You are a Lady! Like it or not, marriage is your duty to not only Winterfell but to-!” Cregan stopped his sentence short to dodge a golden chalice you had attempted to chuck at his head. Silence draped over the room with the last ringing of metal hitting the floor. You and your brother only made eye contact, no words to be exchanged. Your words were caught in your throat to the point where you could do nothing but flee the throne room, wiping your eyes with your hands in an attempt to retain some dignity.
Your heels clicked on the stone floors as you sped walked through the halls to get as far away from anything and everyone. Not knowing where else you could go but the Godswood, everywhere else had too many maids and guards to ask questions and silently judge you. The woods had always brought you peace, no one to accompany your every move, no elder brothers to tell you how to lead your life, nothing. Continuing your walk into the forest pulling your thick fur coat tighter around you, the sun was setting so it was beginning to get colder. You had memorized the walk to the Weirwood far too long ago to the point it was a walk you made without thinking.
As a child you were scared of the face in the tree clinging to your brother as you trembled, laughing to yourself at the memory of taking a seat on one of the roots. Laughter slowly turned back into slow tears remembering what brought you here in the first place. What should you even do, what can you even do? Do you pray to the Old Gods for you to be saved like a fairy tale princess, for Prince Aemond Targaryen to swoop down on Vhagar and whisk you away? You sinfully wonder if the Gods even listen to the prayers of silly girls who didn’t wish to be married away. Maybe they only listen to silly boys who wish for honor and power. You remember watching Cregan pray to the old gods before rising up against your uncle to reclaim his title as Lord of Winterfell. If you prayed as hard as he did that day would you receive glory?
In your frustrations you hadn't realized that you fell asleep on the tree, exhausted from crying and racing thoughts. You had no dreams while you rested, maybe that was a blessing for times to come.
You were jolted awake from the splitting sound of a dragon's wail. This could mean Aemond came after all couldn’t it? Wasting no time you jumped onto your feet and started running to get out of the woods. You felt light, maybe that’s how you were able to run so fast.
Slipping past maids and guards in an attempt to not knock them over as you ran to meet Aemond at the front gates if he hadn’t already made his way to your brother.
Luckily you had made it to the front gates just in time to meet- Aemond?
As the guards opened the doors to allow the young prince passage into the gates of Winterfell you found yourself needing to move your gaze lower, instead of straight silver strands you were met with slightly unkempt brown hair, and no striking violet eyes just ones that were the same color as his hair. This wasn’t Aemond? But he still had a dragon?

🌹SDV Elliott HC 💃
Content warning: Americanized contexts ahead. 😅 Not pigeonholing SDV as American but I'm using Americanized regionalisms because that's the language I have to communicate I'm trying to portray. 🤷‍♀️
************
It takes a high heart level and a moderate intoxication level to bring it out, BUT Elliott has had years of ballroom dance under his belt.
I'm imagining a southern old-money style upbringing for him (subject to change) and he started being trained in different dances bc he was involved in whatever the male version of debutantes is.
he wasn't big into it at the time but yknow mommy issues he was a diligent well-mannered young man so he learned enough to pass by.
enter university and Prince Slut (freshman year) is finding all kinds of ways to get the tender physical touch and affection he craved as a child make friends and finds the uni's ballroom dance club
his foundation of skill and reputation make him insanely popular within the club so it becomes a genuinely healthy outlet for him.
he never takes it seriously in terms of competition; he's just there to have fun and make his partner shine but you KNOW he's flaunting and flexing along the way, like executing daring moves with his partner, showboating, getting so overly sultry with it, etc.
he gets so many numbers and so much ass whenever he goes out, it's upsetting.
anyway tl;dr he spends so much time on that and other social activities in college that he barely passes most of his classes and it's actually a huge regret of his but that's a whole 'nother post
he stops dancing after uni for the most part as he has to reprioritize his life
but that doesn't mean that he lets it go, oh no.
get enough drinks in this man and enough room to move and he's 10years younger ready to sweep anyone off their feet.
He'll trot with the foxes, swing from one coast to another, cha-cha real smooth, give him tequila and he'll give you salsa, etc etc
of fucking course he can waltz but like 1) ya Basic, and 2) dinner and a movie first (and let's make it Viennese, for the love of Yoba)
he'd much rather rumba or tango tbh but only with someone he really cares about. poor boy'll catch feelings quick rocking hips like that.
which like. alternate ending to the 6heart scene has him inviting you to dance with him to blow off some steam. nothing too stilted or sensual, just an easy swing or something so he can move and move you and maybe even give you a twirl if you're so inclined 😉
(at 8hearts and above he's twirling you, dipping you, and rocking you on his hips during wrap-ins 🥴🥴 you've also unlocked private rumba, tango, and waltzes with him, and boy is it getting humid in this seaside cabin 🥵🥵)
it does take getting him at least buzzed to bring it out, but he has no shame once it's out, so it's like an open secret in Pelican town that he'll show anyone who's a good sport a good time
EXCEPT.
(and this is a big one)
he's so fucking judgey about what music people choose to dance to.
full on Big Sassy Gay energy.
"oh you want to slow dance to [Ed Sheeran]? yeah I remember being in middle school too."
"*Thinking Out Loud playing* is this the wedding song where people teeter back and forth like two rickety sideways rocking chairs with room for Yoba in between because your grandma's watching for three straight minutes? ...no yeah it's fine. I mean to their credit it probably functions as their run through for the consummation later too so good for them I guess"
*I Won't Give Up playing* "if you need to dance to a song where someone else declares how you're So Definitely going to be together forever, I'm sorry but I give it two years tops." "Elliott, this was Haley and Alex's song." "I said what I said. Next."
"*dramatic sigh* just because you can mathematically fit a 5 step into a 4/4 doesn't mean you can or should turn any bubblegum pop song about casual sex into a tango. It's NOT about sensuality, it's about THE CONFLICT THEREIN."
just take him home at this point. 😅 no one understands what he's saying but they know it's probably insulting.
anyway fast forward to domestic bliss and he's regularly pulling you in to show you how happy you make him
he's definitely singing any lines he thinks fit you under his breath while he dances with you. He'll bring you in close and murmur them into your ear or kiss them into your neck if he's got bedroom thoughts. 🌹

OC LORE DUMP • VESZETH, THE DARK URGE
Tumblr media
Alright, due to somewhat popular request, the Veszeth lore dump. This focuses primarily on their pre-game situation and I've laid it out in segments. Please note there are heavy spoilers for Dark Urge Act 3 content and warnings for mentions of violence, torture, pregnancy. In short: it's fucked but tonally consistent.

Transfeminine non-binary person; aromantic-spec lesbian.

PERSONALITY TRAITS
Positives: pragmatic, charismatic (not so much anymore, mind), determined, efficient, strategic, visionary
Negatives: bloodthirsty, depraved, zealous, cold, manipulative, unsettling
Others: vengeful, proud, passionate, generous (to those who are loyal)
ON THEIR CREATION
In the years after the Bhaalspawn crisis, a tragic death overcame the last surviving Bhaalspawn at the time — Azren, a half-orc shaman who was possessed by a particularly violent spirit. He went on a murderous rampage as a result, and was forced to be killed when he could not regain control. But he would never be resurrected, despite being married to a cleric. Viconia had been granted permission by Shar to wed Azren on the condition that she would not be allowed to resurrect him, and upon his death, she would return to the clergy and surrender herself to her goddess.
Azren's death triggered the return of Bhaal who, using the essence returned to him, set about restoring his cult. Among his plan, he chose to sculpt a new Bhaalspawn, one sculpted from a droplet of his own gore. He chose the form of a drow for this new child, in mockery of the Sharran who had torn his son away from filial piety and duty.
CHILDHOOD & ADOLESCENCE
This child had not always lived in the Temple of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate gory, seedy underbelly, but instead was fostered with a family of their own ‘kind’ – the remnants of the wilting House Despund, recently exiled to the surface. They named the child a drowish name meaning "blessed secret" - as House Despund chose to pass the child off as their own.
They were on the cusp of adolescence when they made their first kills, standing over the corpses of the foster mother who’d tried to sacrifice them to Lolth – to both please her goddess and because she was frightened of this darkness in her child’s eyes – the consort who had accompanied her (the closest thing to a foster father) and their own child who the Bhaalspawn had resented. Wholesale family murder, baby’s first murder spree in a dilapidated house on the outskirts of Baldur’s Gate.
That night, the fledgling first heard their ‘imaginary friend’ who they only had heard in their dreams. Following the voice, they found their way to the Temple of Bhaal – seemingly knowing what to do, they carried their foster family’s severed hands in a small, bloody sack to the entrance to the Undercity’s ruins.
Until the child reached the age of majority, even within the Temple did they remain in relative seclusion. They attended the rituals and sacrifices, of course, made kills in their dread lord and father's name, but otherwise they were kept away from the rest of the temple.
Their kin, Sarevok, brought back to serve as head of the Murder Tribunal, made sure that the child was taught in the art of combat and discipline (hello, fighter levels), while the echo of a drow Bhaalspawn cleric, Sendai, saw to their spiritual training (cleric levels). Their so-called imaginary friend, the goblin butler Sceleritas Fel, was tasked with the day-to-day raising.
YOUNG ADULTHOOD
Upon their physical maturation at 25, they took the name Veszeth as their adult name, meaning flesh taker or bloody obssession.
(It was during the lead-up to taking that their adult name that Veszeth had also begun exploring their gender and sexual identities, later using a mixture of elixirs and transmutation magic courtesy of a willing wizard to help them achieve their ideal body type.)
Thus began Veszeth's reign of terror as a rising star of their father's cult — brutal, efficient, conniving when necessary. They were the perfect scion, the perfect heir for their dread lord and devoted father, to lead his congregation once their father deemed them ready. Their imagination and capacity for murder and depravity was unrivalled.
Many corpses made by their hand often unrecognisable by the time they had finished - and every kill was done in Bhaal's name, and in return, pleased by his heir's embracing his unholy mandate of murder and their intense familial piety, nothing like his failed son, Bhaal bestowed many gifts and luxuries upon Veszeth. They wanted for nothing and every whim was catered to, and rather than granting the typical death domain to Vesz, they became a war domain cleric instead upon their appointment as the High Primate.
THE DREAM GUARDIAN'S FORM
Such was the way of things for the next few decades; Veszeth ruled the congregation as the High Primate with an iron fist, causing widespread terror in the city, who began to whisper in fear that Bhaal had truly returned.
In these decades, Veszeth also selected a consort, of sorts: her name was Zilvala, a fellow drow. A Divine Soul sorcerer and a former priestess of Lolth-turned-Bhaalist adherent, Veszeth selected her for both her beauty and capacity for cruelty, and even regarded her as a kindred spirit, of sorts. As a divine soul, she understood what it meant to have the touch of the divine in her blood, even if it was not quite the same as Veszeth's situation. And she was ambitious too: to be the silk glove to their iron fist. But significantly, Zilvala promised something that caught Bhaal's attention — she promised Veszeth she would bear their child, the first in a new bloodline of Bhaalspawn.
Their relationship very much could not be considered love: it was a mixture of being in love with one another's depravity and carnage, lust and a hunger for ambition.
THEIR FALL FROM GRACE
This is where it starts getting a bit less concrete for me as I haven't finished act 3 and have yet to tackle the Gortash questline, but in the years leading up to BG3, they began planning the Absolute hoax, first with Gortash and then with Ketheric, all while becoming more blind to the problems arising among the congregation. Their hubris left them this way.
Their slaughterkin, Orin the Red, did not worship the ground they walked on: she was jealous, resentful. There was no artistry or finesse to the way Veszeth killed, in her eyes. She was jealous of their attention, the praise lavished upon them as Bhaal's heir from their Father, the congregation and the Murder Tribunal — and Zilvala's promise to bring a new line of Bhaalspawn coming to fruition. She planned, waiting to strike to orchestrate the perfect fall from grace.
On what should have been a day of triumph, the day Veszeth's tyranny should have lashed the world, Orin struck - paralysing them with a debilitating poison and forcing them to watch as she tortured and killed Zilvala and their unborn child, offering mother and child up as sacrifices to Bhaal. She then turned to Veszeth, her daggers glinting, and by the time she was finished, their mind and body were wrecked, with a tadpole in their skull and their memory irreperably damaged.
(Upon the return to the temple in act 3, Veszeth finds the real Zilvala's body stored in an iron maiden in Orin's chambers. They do not react at the time, only ordering a member of the temple to dispose of the body, but grieve in private at a later date.)
When they wake up aboard the nautiloid, Veszeth cannot even remember their deity - only that they must be a cleric, judging by their abilities. It is assumed that they are a cleric of Lolth, and they do not correct this, not knowing any better. They're drow after all — and upon the memories coming back and accepting their inheritance in act 3, Veszeth fully embraces Bhaal as their deity once again.

2023 Year in Review
In celebration of the coming New Year, I decided to do a re-watch of every drama I gave 3 or more stars in 2023. Only 15 made the cut, which given the number of dramas I watched (I started well over 200, although I dropped at least a third of those) is not that many.
(My rating system is pretty simple: 1 ⭐ = terrible/don't recommend/waste of time, 2 ⭐⭐ = pretty good/enjoyable/would recommend to others but probably never re-watch, 3 ⭐⭐⭐ = good/likely to re-watch, 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ = practically perfect/would re-watch frequently. As you can see, it's more about what I personally enjoy than what's objectively great. So some objectively good shows aren't on this list, like La Pluie or Wedding Plan or Our Dating Sim or Doctor Cha or King the Land or Call it Love, because they got a lower score from me because I'm not that likely to ever re-watch them even though I'm glad I watched them and I'll happily recommend them to others. Of course, my ratings are subject to change over time too because I often surprise myself with what I re-watch. Some shows that I originally gave 2.5 stars have eeked out 3.5 stars over the following year or two just because they grew on me and I kept re-watching them.)
As such, my plan to ring in the New Year is to re-watch:
Lost/Human Disqualification - ⭐⭐⭐/⭐ - (IQIYI/Amazon Prime, kdrama, slice of life, healing journey, slight romance, a 42yo woman pushed to the breaking point by life crosses paths with a 27yo man who is mourning the loss of his friend, outstanding dialog, killer A+ acting, tw: infidelity, miscarriage, and suicide BUT DON'T LET THAT SCARE YOU AWAY)
Hit The Spot ⭐⭐⭐ (Viki, kdrama, romcom, 2 women begin hosting a sex advice podcast, funny, sex positive education, extraordinarily relatable, high heat, 8 30min eps)
The Glory ⭐⭐⭐/⭐ (Netflix, kdrama, 36yo woman patiently takes revenge on her childhood bullies, slight romance, incredible dialog, A+ acting, excellent pacing and powerful reveals, tw: the highschool bullies are evil little sociopaths who do some extremely horrific shit)
The Eighth Sense ⭐⭐⭐/⭐ (Viki, gay romance, kdrama, incoming freshman who is a rural-transplant to Seoul meets exiting senior and joins his surf club, gorgeous production, healing past trauma, A+ acting and insanely believable physical chemistry, good OST)
Love Tractor ⭐⭐⭐ (IQIYI, gay, short kbl, big city law student with musical ambitions hides from his responsibilities in the countryside and meets a younger himbo farmer with a heart of gold)
Sing My Crush ⭐⭐⭐/⭐ (IQIYI, kBL, a talented but heartbroken young man is about to give up on his musical dreams when he is adopted by an eager wannabe manager, best friends to lovers, cohabitation, pining, good plot and chemistry)
Moonlight Chicken ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (YouTube, Thai, gay romance + BL, one night stand between a struggling chicken diner owner and a recently promoted office worker turns into more, HS student and lonely deaf boy become the cutest couple to ever cute, A+ writing and acting, themes of: found family, making a home, love matters even when it doesn't end well, class inequality, queer generational divides, letting go of the past, a radically compassionate look at first love, last love, lost love, and unrequited love)
Bed Friend ⭐⭐⭐ (IQIYI, Thai, gay office romance, enemies to FWB to lovers, healing past trauma done right, ridiculously pretty leads, consent kings, high heat, A+ lead chemistry and acting, soft landing in the final 2 eps, tw: sexual assault)
My School President ⭐⭐⭐/⭐ (Viki, Thai, BL, high school boys singing their feelings [well!], wholesome, gentle, sweet and funny, A+ production values, peak low-heat BL with well-executed tropes)
Be My Favorite ⭐⭐⭐ (Youtube, Thai, BL, repressed and fearful boy travels back in time to his college days to woo his crush and falls in love with his supposed rival instead, themes: living each moment to the fullest so you won't have regrets, kindness as a catalyst for character growth and positive change, bravery in the face of uncertainty, telling people you love them can only be a good thing)
Laws of Attraction ⭐⭐⭐ (IQIYI, Thai, gay, mystery/romance lakorn, evil unhinged babygirl lawyer and the heroic idealistic taekwondo instructor who falls for him work together to solve the mystery of his niece's death, loveable granny, A+ lesbians, happy endings all around, great acting and lead chemistry)
Jack O'Frost ⭐⭐⭐ (Viki, Japan, gay, amnesiac young man and his co-habitating ex begin their relationship again, short 6 ep, A+ acting, excellent production values)
Hold my Hand at Twilight ⭐⭐⭐ (Viki, jdrama, twenty-something city mouse meets country mouse and they begin the journey towards making their dreams come true, cohabitation, warm-hearted, angsty 3rd act, A+ acting, excellent banter, post-credit epilogue)
Kiseki: Dear to Me ⭐⭐⭐ (Viki, Taiwan, gay, hardworking med student falls for the gang member he secretly treats, insane plot includes time skip and amnesia [2 tropes I usually hate, but actually done well in this case and not annoying], domesticity, cohabitation, hurt/comfort, friends to lovers, short total runtime)
Fake It Till You Make It ⭐⭐⭐/⭐ (Viki, China, romance, 🔥 lead chemistry, snappy banter, disarmingly honest and vulnerable leads, this couple wants to eat each other for dinner AND dessert but constantly chooses not to because of other life priorities and fears, friends with killer UST to lovers who communicate shockingly well, all the characters feel like real people instead of caricatures)

While the writers keep playing us, here are some future plots to consider after robert comes back (ryan HAS to comeback at this point ok? i wont accept anything else):
Post-prison Denial - Aaron cannot forgive Robert or accept that he is back; he shifts the blame for Liv's death from Chas to Robert because Robert LEFT THEM
Post-prison Blues - Robert deals with his PTSD badly which engages Aaron's redemption arc; he stays by Robert's side and helps him through it
Reunion 3.0 / Seb's return - Robert gets access to Seb (he comes to some sort of agreement with Rebecca or something happens to her offscreen whatever) and seeing Rob and Seb (their son!!) together in the village destroys any willpower Aaron still had to fight against his feelings for Robert
Wedding 3.0 - this needs no explanation
Surrogacy 2.0 - i dont actually mind them going there again if only to get them their Sugden-Dingle daughter
The Return of Andy Sugden - everything is going well for Robert and Aaron but Andy's return shakes things up; the farmboy that Jack Sugden caught Robert with back in the day is working with Andy now; so we get jealousy and misunderstandings and high drama in the Still-Madly-In-Love-Husband front (because that's Aaron innit) and Robert finally tells Vic and Andy about what happened with his dad when he was young.
Teen Seb Comes to Stay - Seb decides he wants to live with his dads at the village permanently (rewashed Liv plot i know but im making it easy for them!!) there are issues with his little sister at first but they get quickly resolved. Seb and his auntie Eve become thick as thieves and become the village nightmares
The Return of Adam Barton - because Aaron needs his mate back at some point and I doubt Vic will settle with anyone else ever
Robron vs Caleb - this just seems like it would be fun idk. it could have something to do with Seb because he is just like his dads and finds trouble everywhere which Robert and Aaron always have to solve in the end
Robert vs Kim&Andy - at this point in my AU Andy is with Kim (romantically or as business partners idc) because it serves the purpose of killing two birds with one stone so that Robert can finally FINALLY win back Home Farm
Robert Sugden's Regression - being in charge of Home Farm ofc changes Robert a bit and he starts to become the thing he fears most: his father. Cue him pushing his children and Aaron to the breaking point until, in true soap-fashion, they break up again. The kids split too. Aaron takes their daughter and Seb stays with Robert. And this ofc leads to:
The Parent Trap: Robron Edition - Seb and his sister plot to get their dads back together through a series of funny shenanigans, but then one of them gets seriously hurt in an accident (they should watch out for those evil farm animals amirite? or was it another drunk driver? only the soap gods know) so all the progress they made crumbles. Aaron and Robert blame each other and seem broken up for good
The Biggest Mugs In The World - Aaron and Robert try to prove to themselves and their kids that they dont want anything to do with each other but every time Aaron sends Robert his divorce papers Robert 'misplaces them' until Aaron finds out Robert has been ripping them apart and chucking them into his fancy fireplace. They fight about Robert being a control freak and Aaron a jealous queen, because every person Robert has flirted with since they separated has ended up fleeing the village with their tail tucked between their legs (Aaron made sure of it). This goes on until they have angry make up sex and then hate themselves for it.
Reunion 4.0 - *PROBLEMATIC PLOT ALERT* Seb and Eve become romantically involved and try to hide it from their families (aunt and nephew fits the Dingle lore somehow lmao). When they are found out Robert goes apeshit and casts Seb out of the village (like his dad did to him once) but he and Seb are at The Layby and before Robert can make the biggest mistake of his life, the love of his life arrives just in time to stop him. Robert realizes what he has become and decides to leave Emmerdale himself (after all, he was always the disaster, the one unable to make anybody happy, he should have never comeback etc) but Aaron won't have it. They can't live without each other, and that fact has never been clearer than at that very moment (shot to a teary-eyed Seb behind Aaron). Robert begs for forgiveness and Aaron just scoffs because forgiving Robert is the easiest thing in the world. They had promised each other messed up forever, had they not?
You know. I know.

Okay I wanna hear your recs for when you just wanna get lost in another world!
xoxo MJ/kiwiana-writes
Oh hey, @kiwiana-writes! These are multifandom, because there are so many good fics out there in so many fandoms that just provide such good escapism catalysts! They're also, to nobody's surprise, all epic AUs. (And also, hopefully you're not surprised that one of your fics is on the list. 💕)
RWRB: Where the Spirit Meets the Bones by milowren [WIP; Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 48.7k words] I rarely, rarely start WIPs; this AU is one of few exceptions. Alex's mom buys a Victorian era mansion after the end of her second Presidential term. Part murder-mystery, part romance, part modern magic, all fantastic.
RWRB: A Practical Arrangement by you!! (kiwiana!!) [Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 19.8k words] I'm fairly certain that I yelled at you over multiple platforms when I got to the end of the first chapter of this arranged marriage AU... Henry and Alex have been betrothed for three years, and the big day has finally arrived. Just... a phenomenal story.
RWRB: But I love him, whether or no. by @leaves-of-laurelin [Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 77.1k words] Henry moves to NYC to help Pez open a bar. He falls in love with firefighter Alex, who works at the fire station right across the street. Super great friends-to-lovers AU. RWRB: All the Old Showstoppers by @cha-melodius [Alex Claremont-Diaz/Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor, E, 20k words] This was one of the AUs that really stood out to me when I first started my deep dive into reading fic in this fandom. Alex skips the royal wedding, and three years later he and Henry meet as competitors on The Great Celebrity Bake Off. Delicious.
Five more multifandom recs under the jump; ask me more sleepover weekend stuff!
MCU: A Story We Must Tell by AHM1121 and MissyRivers [Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes, E, 166.2k words] An epic AU in which ex-military author James Barnes and ex-military lumberjack/fisherman Steve Rogers meet and fall in love. This one took me a couple days to read, and I'm glad I took my time because it's beautiful.
Boyband RPF: The Way You Know Him by Kaelie and Bethann [JC Chasez/Justin Timberlake, M, 191.2k words] This is boyband RPF, but it's so AU that you'll have to squint to recognize the pop stars' personalities. Justin is new to a publishing house, and JC is on the board. I remember when this was first being published, I waited with bated breath every month for The Way You Know Him Day because I loved it so, so much. That has not changed.
Star Trek: Take Refuge in What You Know by CorpusInvictus [James T. Kirk/Spock, E, 120.3k words] Kirk is new to his apartment building and wants to get to know his neighbors. He meets his neighbor, Spock, a loner who suffers from extreme agoraphobia. Kirk thinks he's a beautiful enigma. This one will hurt your heart in the best way. Mind the tags, though.
The Pacific: The History Books Forgot About Us (And The Bible Didn't Mention Us) by callmejude [Mariell "Snafu" Shelton/Eugene Sledge, E, 116.9k words] A canon (history?)-divergent AU in which Eugene and Snafu bond in a different way after one of their squadmates is shot.
Smallville: Family Portrait by tzigane and zaganthi [Clark Kent/Lex Luthor, E, 130.6k words] An AU in which Lex Luthor is orphaned at a young age, and his mother's will stipulates that she wishes for Martha and Jonathan Kent to become his guardians. Slow, slow burn.

ATTOYE Modern AU! Headcanons - for @attoye
• Attuma loves going on long drives, either by himself or with another person. He used to make Namor or Namora go with him but after he met Okoye… she was his new passenger princess.
• Attuma owns his own tattoo shop and runs it with his cousins, and since Okoye’s love language is acts of service, She often finds herself packing lunches and other things for him.
• Okoye owns her own self defense gym and trains young girls from 7-17 self defense for free. She is a respected member of her community and is definitely sought after as a bachelorette. And since Attuma’s love language is physical touch and quality time, he will often find himself coming to her gym after a client and just watching her do her thing. The younger girls will giggle over how cute he is and how cute they both are together.
“Miss. Achebe, your giant is staring at you.”
“He’s not a giant, Maria. He’s just tall.”
“Too tall…” the small girl says squinting at him.
• Sometimes she’ll bring them to his shop and he says she ruining his street cred. He just can’t act tough and aloof around her 😭😭😭
• Okoye has one sibling. Younger sister, Aneka. The oldest daughter of three means she took on a lot of responsibilities. So she is the hyper independent one.
So when she introduced Attuma to her family and let him open doors, pick up tabs, carry her over puddles and spoil her, they were FLABBERGASTED.
• Namor and Cha’ h Toh (Namor) are Attuma’s cousins and closest friends. Mbaku is his best friend besides that.
• Shuri, Mbaku, and T’challa are Okoye’s cousins. Aneka is her sister. And Nakia is her closest friend.
• They meet through M’baku. He sets them up because M’baku is tired of W’kabi’s lame ass hurting her feelings. “You need a new man.” “No, I don’t…” “Just let me set you up with my friend. He’s good people!”
She reluctantly agreed, but upon seeing this man at the restaurant, her reluctance is GONE. He is fine like wine. Big and strong and you know what? Okoye does deserve a new man!
Now Attuma had been asking for Mbaku to put him on with his pretty cousin.
So when he sees Okoye, he knows to turn up the charm. Pick up lines and cheesy poems, any the king to make her smile. Soon, her guard is down and she finds herself enjoying this date more than she anticipated.
He was handsome, with a good body, a job, a great personality, handsome and did she say good body because-
These biceps are too much. She doesn’t even know she’s latched herself to his arm until he whispers something in her ear with that devilish smirk on his face.
• Mbaku doesn’t let them forget that he put them both on. “I better be in all the wedding speeches AND the vows!”

TC!dad!JK
“it’s just a compliment! i-i didn’t mean any harm—,”
“all you have to do is look in her direction with those eyes you just made and my dad will have your head. i DARE you to look at ae-cha like that while my dad is here. he’s an expert a reading body language, ask the previous guard that lusted after her. oh wait, you can’t because he’s dead”
it’s true. it’s no secret that ae-cha is growing up to be a fine young lady who resembles her father to a T. from her personality all the way to her features, ae-cha is 100% a female version of jungkook and sometimes the royal guards forget that but jungkook has no problem reminding them that that’s HIS daughter they’re looking at.
one guard thought he could get away with looking at ae-cha’s lips and let’s just say he made sure he could never LOOK at her again. it only took that one guard to understand that if anyone looked at his daughters with any lustful gaze, he’d have their head, eyes, tongue, or anything he deems unnecessary to use anymore.
however, what hyunjin is feeling or rather seeing isn’t lust at all. he genuinely thinks she’s a pretty girl and wants to know her personally. nothing weird or creepy, he just wants to get to know her and maybe take her someplace nice with her father’s permission of course (hopefully).
“i’m not lusting after her. i just think she’s—,”
“Hey boys!” interrupts jungkook. “what are you guys talking about?”
“u-uhh” hyunjin stutters.
“yeah, what ARE we talking about, hyunjin?”
“um, honor to the king, sir” hyunjin bows and jinseoul can’t help but snort a little.
“hey dad, did you know hyunjin is 18? he’s two years older than ae-cha” and jungkook is a little confused as to why his age difference to ae-cha’s is so important. so what if he’s two years older than ae-cha, ae-cha has no importance here.
“just thought you’d know that” jinseoul says before he turns to look at his friend who’s a little intimidated by the king’s unannounced presence and intense aura. just awhile ago the king happily asked the two boys what they were doing and now the king looks as if something suspicious is going on and he’s specifically looking at hyunjin.
“he-he asked because we were going to ask your daughter to accompany us on a trip to the town for some flower seeds for the queen b-but we wanted to make sure you were okay it first” he hopes jungkook will take the bait.
speaking of jungkook, you can’t believe he left you alone with yeonjin, HIS company not yours. the conversation between the two of you got awkward at first but after a while longer, the conversation began to flow.
“you’re very beautiful, by the way” you say “your eye are hypnotizing. i can’t stop looking at them”
“oh please, you’re the one with the hypnotizing eyes here. did you not see the way your husband was looking at you? and thank you so much. you’re beautiful as well, your highness” yeonjin says sweetly.
“call me y/n. no need for formalities especially when you’re so close to my husband speaking of husbands, are you?”
“oh no. i’ve never wed”
“WHAT?! never? you’re too beautiful to not be married. is his father still in your son’s life?”
“i adopted hyunjin. found him wandering the streets of seoul and i took him as my own”
“does he..”
“yes, he knows. he was 4 when i adopted him but he’s like a son to me”
“he’s very handsome and respectful”
“thank you. had you not been in the picture then maybe jungkook and i would’ve been together and hyunjin would be ours but no use in crying over spilled milk…even if it was promised”
promised? he promised to marry her?
~🫧
Jungkook recognizes that look of fear in the 18-year-olds eyes, and Jinseoul is smiling to himself like he’s having fun, but when hyunjin mentions his daughter-
Jungkooks gaze hardens, he hates young boys, and their hormones. “No my daughter won’t go anywhere.” He says, trying to be as polite but as stern as possible. How can anyone even dream of courting his daughter? He will agree to getting her married when she will tell him about a boy that she likes..
“You can always wander around with my sons, though. OK boys have fun and don’t be naughty. Because I’m always watching.” he warns them.
Looking at Hyunjin in particular.
And just like that, he takes his leave to come back to you. He checks out the garden, but you’re not there maybe you’re still there in his office, he hopes it isn’t too awkward for you.
As Jungkook walks back to his office, he hears Yeonjin, but he cannot make out the whole conversation, since there are servants walking everywhere, they all greet him, and he just nods and walks.
“Even if it was promised.”
That’s all he hears before he’s entering the office. “ what was promised, Yeonjin?” He asks, curiosity, getting the best of him, and he has an idea of what she’s talking about.
Jungkook is getting angry because she’s trying to come between you two, she had a motive after all. He cannot believe her.
He stares at the both of you, and you look genuinely pissed off. “Uh… I don’t know what you’re talking about but nothing was promised so I would appreciate if you would stop telling my wife any kind of lies.” he walks and soon you find him standing next to you.
“ and I hear that your son is looking for you it’s getting dark so you should take your leave. It was nice seeing you, say hello to your husband for me.”
He doesn’t even smile, but he glares at her.
He hopes that whatever she said to you, you won’t believe her because the only woman he’s ever wanted to marry was you.

as someone whos been in and out of the kpop sphere for well over 10yrs and witnessed 2nd gen -> 3rd gen and now -> 4th gen i know of no other music genre w a history so organized(?) i think it def comes from the insanely fast turnover rate of kpop groups; the 7 year curse is very real and i would argue most groups legacy and peak can usually be distilled into a few years
for example girls generations peak influence was prob from 2009-2013 (gee, genie, hoot, oh, the boys, igab) although theyve had hits outside of that obviously 2009-2013 was still the most profitable w their tours and japanese and american debut and the members started mostly doing solo activities after 2015 notably taeyeon debuted with I in 2015 [so far gd and taeyeon are the most notable kpop soloists w longevity oh hyuna too but hyuna always felt more solo than 4minute or wonder girls]
for big bang i would argue it 2007-2012 (starting w lies, haru haru, tonight and alive eps) although its a bit harder to nail down w big bangs notoriously long hiatus and g-dragon (2008-2014 heartbreaker, one of a kind, coup d’etat) plus taeyang’s (2010-2014 i need a girl, wedding dress, eyes lips nose) solo careers following a different trajectory and peak (2014 mama) arguable that MADE (2015) was their real peak before enlistment and after long hiatus
exo (2013-2017), twice (2015-2020~), shinee (2008-2013), 2NE1 (2009-2014), bts (2015-2020~) [i personally think bts peaked musically between skool luv affair and wings]
you can do this w any group the point is kpops insanely high turnover rate and the industry’s obsession with young and fresh faces makes it so longevity/artistic growth arent as valued as something new (there are an insane amount of rising groups rn ask whos the 4th gen leader on twitter and there will be violence) and kpop idols go into their careers knowing its not sustainable and most will pivot to acting, modeling, going solo, or something else and very few reach any mainstream or critical acclaim as a soloist from a group (big bang’s individual solo work early in their definitely made them stand out among bgs of that era as shinee also all went solo rather successfully they did so after shinee’s peak popularity) i think bts used a similar strategy when giving each member a solo song in wings. there also is always the one person that become the face and most popular eventually synonymous (suzy in miss a, zico in block b, cha eunwoo in astro, wonyoung in ive, hyuna in 4minute) etc. with the group brand thats probably not the idea for the rest of the group but it profitable and kpop companies typically arent too invested in their artists going solo if they wont be successful (contracts are usually only last 7 yrs) [new kpop idols should thank jyj (former tvxq/dbsk) and their lawsuit for korea fair trade commission’s 7 year limit for entertainment contracts; kris luhan tao also continued the sm tradition of sueing for worker’s rights] anyways idk what my point is here ive just been in the kpop meta for too long i feel old and wise but the message to all kpop fans esp new ones… its all capitalism <3 i know some groups self produce or wtv but its all for profit think about why youre buying 6 versions of the same album when you dont even have a cd player and if thats you than more power to you buying things is fun just remember kpop is not that deep bc its run by corporate overlords i’ll leave this with some potentially obscure older recs: a fool of tears - big bang, black hole - shinee, express 999 - girls’ generation, signal - f(x), dont flirt - winner [yg’s who is next was emotional damage produce101 before p101] , change - hyuna, mental breaker - block b (underrated rap line park kyung zico p.o. also from a meta sense bts and block b are very similar bts got a lot more success prob due to smart musical choices and marketing and a little luck
^^^ I don’t really have much to say or add to it. I’m just going to pretty much post it as is. I mean, after seeing the same thing happen 10x times to every Tom, Dick, and Harry you know it’s inevitable.

Alright, just wanted to type out my thoughts on the first half of Dear.M before I start watching episode 7 in a bit. Overall, I don't find the romances enticing enough for them to be the main plot, except for Mok-jin and Young's possible romance. I do think Cha Min-ho makes for a good main character, and I enjoy watching the roommate dynamics, but there isn't enough time put into the leading characters to see them all as individuals.
Cha Min-ho is a sweetheart. There was that sense of, Huh? These girls are dumping this dude? when his unfortunate dating history is shown. But, really, anyone can be treated like a pushover, so I don't mind it. Seeing Min-ho already having a wedding fund for his sister truly made me tear up. That is incredibly considerate and thoughtful of him, and I think it showed off the core of his character the best. Min-ho is loyal. He is a good friend and a good brother. He’s good at what he does, and he’s overall a nice guy who is focused on getting his work done.
I wish there were more time dedicated to Mok-jin and Young, because I think they're the most likable characters. I’m excited to see their romance unfold. I just love couples in which the guy is a bit out of his element. Mok-jin calling Young scary. Yes. This is exactly what I want. Mok-jin witnessing Young dumping someone and him trying to leave unnoticed with literally nothing to hide behind was so funny to me. Anyway, love them dearly <3.
Let me talk about the love square. Now, I must premise this with the fact that I am a big fan of CLC, and Eunbin is one of my favorite members, so I obviously have a bias toward her and would have liked to see her more in the drama, but I don’t really care for Yang-hee.
I can't tell if Min-ho is meant to be in love with Joo-ah already, but it seemed to me like he considered her truly just a friend until she started becoming interested in Joon. For one, I'm not one to like when romantic feelings begin with jealousy, but it's not super overdone here. Min-ho and Yang-hee going to the exhibit at the same time is a bit off-putting, but Min-ho isn't overly rude or jealous to the point of being obvious. My primary annoyance with romances stemming out of an initial jealousy is feeling like the romance should have begun on its own, not just because of a third party disrupting the dynamic, but with longtime childhood-to-adult friendships, I can understand why this could happen. Still, it’s just not my favorite way to see a friends-to-lovers story play out. Regardless of this, it bothers me that Joo-ah and Joon clearly have better romantic chemistry than Joo-ah and Min-ho. Joo-ah and Min-ho are incredibly comfortable with each other, but there isn’t really an underlying tension of potential romance in their interactions beforehand. There isn’t a sense of longing and yearning on either of their parts, or at least not enough to be convincing.
Joon and Yang-hee’s characters are really not fleshed out enough for them to feel important. I do like Joon and Joo-ah’s chemistry, but the attempt at giving him this backstory of failing as a CEO’s son and having to settle for a lower-ranking school was, again, not convincing to me. Yang-hee doesn’t really have any nuance. She’s a rich, pretty girl who isn’t too worried about her future. Her indirect comment about Joo-ah being out of Min-ho's league was rude and unnecessary and honestly felt out of character. Even when she speaks about the “disadvantages” of having low-income students at their university, she doesn’t say it out of spite. She speaks objectively, even if her opinion is inherently hurtful toward Joo-ah and comes from her privileged socioeconomic level. All this goes to say that the set-up for what I assume will end in Min-ho and Joo-ah dating is not well-written in my opinion. There are moments that truly make me enjoy their friendship, like Joo-ah coming back to comfort him, and Min-ho standing between her and some guys from their dorm building who were glancing over at her in her bathrobe. However, this romance just falls short.
The love triangle between Ji-min, Ha-neul, and Ro-sa is just so terribly annoying, and I felt like it consumed so much of the story. Ha-neul is worried about himself and his girlfriend. He's not peaking over at Ro-sa romantically at all. So, why is Ro-sa so dead set on going out with him? It has be her envy. Now, granted, Ha-neul is a nice and attractive guy, but Ro-sa's out here fighting with Ji-min like he's the creme of the crop, which he isn't. This comes down to Ro-sa trying to win one over Ji-min, which is so stupid. Ji-min is a genuine friend and truly celebrates Ro-sa’s wins, but Ro-sa can’t celebrate Ji-min’s wins because she trying to be the better of the two. What bothers me most about Ro-sa is that she’s throwing away the chance at a really great friendship with Ji-min. Who cares if you don’t have a boyfriend right now? You don’t need a boyfriend! In regards also to the older student harassing Ro-sa, it doesn’t excuse her behavior, but he needs to step away and leave her alone.
I have not watched Love Playlist, so I don’t know Ji-min and Ha-neul’s story, but their relationship does not feel secure in Dear.M. The scene in which Ha-neul not knowing what he likes about Ji-min was uncomfortable to watch. They don’t seem to trust each other, and this only gets worse once Ji-min starts recognizing Ro-sa’s feelings for Ha-neul. I don’t understand why they’re not more transparent with one another. Ha-neul, I think, is just naive, and Ji-min feels like she shouldn’t be a burden to Ha-neul because of his father passing and him switching majors. They could be a great couple if they were more open about their issues. When Ji-min breaks up with Ha-neul, initially I thought, oh, it’s great that she recognizes her lack of trust and sees this as something she needs to work on to make this relationship work. Now, I think she should have given him a reason for breaking up with him. He deserved that much, because she made him feel like he was at fault, even if she said otherwise. Then, when she got to the dorm and started crying about him not trying to stop her ... I had to pause for a moment. Because why in the world did you say you wanted to break up if what you really wanted was to feel assured that he likes you, that he’d choose you over everyone else? Talk to him about this! Don’t leave him guessing what went wrong! Maybe I’m the naive one. Who knows? What I do know is that I don’t think people should be playing mind games with their partners. A genuine relationship should not crumble this easily.

Robin Astrea
Pronouns: he/him
Role: First Mate
Age: 24
Romantic and/or Sexual Preference: Gay/Homosexual
Species: Human/Erkuss Hybrid
Home Planet: Kraysha
Faceclaim/Humanoid Appearance: Cha Eunwoo
True Appearance: His left eye is violet and his right eye is brown (his twin is reversed).  He keeps the black hair he got from his father’s side shaggy but short.  Maintaining his hair is very important to him, and it is always trimmed and styled perfectly.  His skin care is the same way in that he always needs to keep up with it.  He claims contacts irritate him, so he only wears them on Earth, or only if absolutely necessary.  He has both ears pierced along with an eyebrow piercing on his left one.  He takes great lengths to stay clean and put-together, and so he is uncomfortable whenever he is sweaty, dirty, or his clothes are wrinkled.
Backstory: Robin was born to Alisz Astrea and Henry Kim, and was the older twin by a matter of a couple minutes.  From a young age, he was loud, forward, and full of energy, whereas his brother was more shy and timid.  He began inheriting special genetic traits from his erkuss and human sides while his brother notably wasn’t, such as reliving past memories, swimming, and electromagnetism.  Robin has always felt guilt over this, especially when his mother began taking a special interest in him.  Because of their difference in personality, and because of the development in other abilities, Robin has always felt protective over his twin.
He was trained from infancy as basically the miniature version of their mother: smuggling, strategizing, and fighting with combat and weapons were just a few of the skills ingrained into him until they became like another sense.  He grew to be confident, even cocky in his abilities.  It was clear from the start that becoming a great smuggler was very important to his mother, that he and his twin were born and raised to become universe-renowned and more than carry on the family reputation, and he has always given it everything he has.  And if he put everything into it, he hoped the attention would be away from his brother.  When Alisz began taking him on missions and shouldering more responsibility on him, he only adjusted to take the weight.  And that’s what he’s been doing.  At this point, he’s not sure what it’s like to not feel like he has an extra weight, or what it’s like to not be stressed about something.
For a while, his past memories were very intense.  When he slept, he often didn’t know which were memories and which were dreams, but he eventually learned to recognize some of the faces in them which helped him to decipher the two (although sometimes he would dream about the memories, which was a whole different mess).  Many of these memories were happy ones: weddings, reunions, playing sports, or hugging and embracing.  When he was young, he would gladly tell anyone in his family who was within earshot of the memories he remembered, but quickly learned that doing so could be harmful to their dad.  Their father was a victim of the kidnapping of an Australian town in the early 80s, has since been unable to leave Kraysha, and Henry continues to feel the effects of this even years down the line.  Instead of being happy his son remembered his mother’s birthday party, Henry would lose his smile and turn away.  Robin enjoyed talking, but not if it was going to make his father sad, and so instead of telling his family, he began to record them with many, many journals.  After a while, the memories stopped being so intense, only happening once in a while.  With that, he also grew to be much more subdued over time, preferring to pore his thoughts over writing, rather than with his family and saying things out loud.  And if thoughts were too fragmented to put to a page, he learned to keep them in his head.
Regardless of the training that commanded a large portion of their lives, he and Ryder still had pretty good childhoods.  Both their parents were Earth culture nerds and fans of collecting, and so the twins grew up with an above-average knowledge of video games, movies, and tv shows, though sometimes Robin’s knowledge is lacking in musicals and things he deemed slightly cringy in his youth.  Ryder has always been his best friend and main confidant, and the twins’ childhood friend Skylar Clarke has always been more like an older brother.
It was his mother, who through her connections with Daphne’s family, got the twins interviews with the Prosperity.  Serving as the Prosperity’s second-in-command at such a young age would have been a daunting task, but Robin was literally raised to do it.  He is sometimes irresponsible and unable to see a situation fully for what it is, but he is learning on the job and getting better with time.
Skills: Very organized.  Smuggling, negotiating, strategizing and combat including hand-to-hand, knife/shortswords, and firearms.  A natural leader, great at initiating and leading a discussion or group and can offer his own ideas or raise up other people’s ideas (Whether Robin’s ideas are good or not, though, is a different matter).  Great handwriting, perfect for correspondence.  Pretty good at impressions, but needs to work on his Kermit the Frog.
Played by Hope; 26 ; she/her ; central time

Mackenzie Confides in Bear and Aaron Tells Mackenzie He's in Denial.
Mackron fanfic.
"Big day tomorrow for the village" said Bear as he helped Mack to open up the pub "A wedding and a Christening"
"Yes the girls dresses have arrived" said Mack. "I can't wait to see them all dressed up"
"How many kids have you got now Mack?" asked Bear.
"Six" Mack replied "Four girls and two boys"
"Is young Lawrence coming down for the Christening?" Bear asked.
"He's working unfortunately but Nate is going to film it all" said Mack just as his phone rang.
'Oh sorry to hear that Jamie I'll see you tomorrow?" said Mack over the phone.
"Bad news lad?" Bear asked.
"That was Jamie he can't come today he's had to work" said Mack.
"Are you and him serious then?" Bear enquired.
"Well he told me he loved me" said Mack.
"And do you love him?" Bear asked.
"I like him but I'm not in love with him" Mack answered.
"Still got Aaron on your mind I dare say" Bear replied.
"No" said Mack feeling awkward.
"Oh come on lad you and I both know you two were made for each other so what are you dithering at?" said Bear.
"Aaron scares me" said Mack. "He's been so unpredictable lately lashing out"
"That coz he can't handle the fact you've got someone else" said Bear.
"I cheated on Jamie with Aaron Bear and its tearing me apart" said Mack.
"Then finish it and go back to the man who is obviously the love of your life" said Bear.
"I told you I'm scared of what Aaron might do if we get back together" said Mack.
"He doesn't beat you does he lad" said Bear "Coz he has a temper and rumour has it he's put you in hospital a couple of times"
"He doesn't beat me when we're together only when we fall out" said Mack "But that's not what frightens me"
"Then what is it?" said Bear "Or is it something private you can't talk about?"
"Do you mean sex?" Mack asked "Coz it's not that he's great at that. It's the kids"
"He's not going to beat them is he?" asked Bear.
"I'm scared if we get together again and we split up he'll try and take Isla off me again" said Mack. "She's his adoptive daughter and that's why we split coz he wants to adopt the twins"
"That's a good thing isnt it?" Bear asked.
"Not with Aaron it isn't" Mack replied "Look what he did with Isla he took her the last time we split up"
"It's always the kids that suffer in a break up Mack" said Bear.
"I know and that scares me" said Mack "Look at Isla she's only forteen months old and she's been shoved from pillar to post and it's my fault. God knows what it's done to her psychologically"
"I know Chas got quite attached to her when Aaron brought her here to live" said Bear.
"See. It's all my fault" said Mack. "There's nothing I'd like more than making things up with Aaron but I have to think of my kids"
"Don't blame yourself Mack" said Bear "There were circumstances that were out of your control"
"I let that woman into my life and she kidnapped Isla and took her half way round the world and left her there Bear" said Mack "I still have nightmares about it and how do I explain that to her?"
"You dont" said a voice "You let me back onto your life Mack and I'll help you through it"
"Aaron" said Mack turning round quickly "How much of the conversation did you hear?"
"Enough to know you need me Mack" said Aaron.
"I don't honestly" said Mack.
"Stop kidding yourself Mack" said Aaron. "Didn't the other day mean anything to you? You're in denial Mack"
"I need to go down to the bar" said Mack rushing outside.
"You two need your heads banging together" said Bear.
"He said I scare him Bear" said Aaron breaking down in tears. "How am I going to fix this?"

My last post was just words. I didn’t want my next post to be more words so I wanted to search for something meaningful to post from the media that I had consumed over the past months. It took some time to find something, but I did. And I thought what did I watch these past few months? Stand by Me - Doreamon movies, Hamilton musical, Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse, The Good Bad Mother, Dr. Cha, Young Sheldon, Rosie, Queenmaker, Would you like a Cup of Coffee, Our Beloved Summer. As I recounted them, I liked what I consumed. In each of these, I found a story and a message that was worth watching.
Unexpectedly, I am on a journey to “like” myself. At some point, I stopped making decisions that I liked, I stopped being confident in who I was, and I stopped listening to myself. But I’m re-learning all of that now. And this time with a better understanding and a better foundation. The Saturday that I arrived in Toronto, there was a building next to the hospital that was being demolished. I watched the machine take it down, turning it into rubble. The structure looked so bare and exposed that I couldn’t imagine it housed people before. When I watched it crumble down, there was a little bit of horror and a little bit of sadness. By the time I left, all of it was demolished and though it was bare, there was more clarity and light that shone onto that place. The foundations stayed put, it was just the building that was taken down. I wondered if this was symbolic of my life, where the foundations are always in You, but You take down and rebuild all throughout my life. Things that I had built gets taken down and new things will be built in replacement of it.
Today at counselling, I told her about how I had found my voice again with the people I talked to in Toronto. I learned what safety felt like and how being honest with my thoughts and feelings felt liberating. That my life wasn’t dictated by the options from others, but that I had the option to choose what I wanted for me. I told her that there are times when there suddenly is a shift in my relationships where I find my friends relying on me too much and I feel burdened. The intimacy they feel with me isn’t reciprocated on my end because I don’t trust them as much as they trust me. And then she asks who do I turn to when I need help or in emotional distress? And it was not a doubt that it was You. That is why I wanted to write here tonight. Because it all started from here. From my computer, from writing on asian avenue, then on xanga. I kept writing and writing first to myself but then at some point it felt like “someone” was listening to me. It didn’t feel like I was talking to myself. I think because of this writing, I had no doubt that You were real. Your comfort in my time of distress was very real. It wasn’t intuition nor was it logic. It was a real experience of Your spirit. I think I wish for this experience for everyone because there is no arguing that You exist in their lives when they experience You. No logic can argue better than a personal experience. And so when I compare the comfort that others give me, it always never measure up to Your comfort. I feel so close with You that I feel distant with people. I feel so disappointed that they will hurt me and not love me as much as You would. The second thing that comforts me are these stories of people’s lives and how their lives were touched by other people. I wish for that. I wish that I can have relationships in my life that would mirror my relationship with You. Relationships where I can rely on them and I can feel intimate with.
All these love stories end with a wedding. And I wish in my lifetime, I can experience the same glory and beauty of a relationship that is eternal. My heart keeps longing for it and I think I will continue to long for it. But I have decided not to idly wait for it nor seek for it myself. That while waiting, I will continue to live my life to the fullest with You and make all the plans that I can in this lifetime to enjoy Your creation and to listen and pray for those that You put in my life. I don’t want to stand still where I am. I want to dance. I want to dance in this life that You have given me.
