Herongraystairs 💔 Clockwork Princess Epilogue
•••
"Will’s eyes were closed, but Tessa’s were full of tears. Jem set down his bow, and came toward the bed, drawing back his hood, so she could see his closed eyes and his scarred face. And he had sat down beside them on the bed, and taken Will’s hand, the one that Tessa was not holding, and both Will and Tessa had heard Jem’s voice in their minds.
"I take your hand, brother, so that you may go in peace."
Will had opened the blue eyes that had never lost their color over all the passing years, and looked at Jem and then Tessa, and smiled, and died, with Tessa’s head on his shoulder and his hand in Jem’s."

"Ooh, your necklace hanging from my neck The night we couldn't quite forget" - Taylor Swift Out Of The Woods
This verse belongs to Jessa. The jade necklace that Jem gave Tessa as an engagement gift and Tessa still wears that necklace after over the decades. And the night when they had their first real conversation on Blackfriars Bridge and the night when they kissed for the first time.

When I read Clockwork Princess for the first time (I was 13yo I think) I was so incredibly traumatized by the epilogue that I wrote an alternate ending and went into full denial of the original one.
If anyone asks, I'll translate it and post it on here. It's a bit cringe but it's what my 13 year-old brain thought would make Will Herondale the happiest, and I can't argue with that logic

The way Kieran says to Mark “Come with me, then. Stay with me” just like Tessa said to Jem “Come with me. Stay with me. Be with me”

if there’s one thing about the infernal devices that I did not like it is this:
tessa kept going back and forth between will and jem. Like that was so concerning.
so she liked will first but then end of book 1 happened and then book 2, she went and got engaged to jem??
but in that same book I’m pretty sure she also kissed will??
then epilogue of book 3: she’s with will right?
but then will dies so she just goes back to jem?
that’s just…no. That epilogue was so bad and messed up my views of the entire series so I like to pretend it didn’t happen.

Okay. From now on, NO MORE EPILOGES. THEY ARE CREATED TO HURT OUR SOULS. DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY ARE HAPPY OR SAD. I'm sick and tired of crying while reading them. So I decided that I won't read an epiloge ever again in my life.
