Thanks for tagging me @duchessdepolignaca03! So this is my first one of these actually, thanks to timezones it wasn't Wednesday when I got tagged but nonetheless here we go.

So I don't have WIP excerpts right now, I'm a 'gonna write a fic to post straight after' kind of gal (this will change with a long project next year though) so instead I thought I'd post some bits from my fanfic idea dump plus some og fiction WIPs.

The Prince & Me AU for Red White & Royal Blue. Alex is at UT and Henry decides to study in America, he tells his family it's to find himself but really it's so he can get away from his overbearing royal responsibilities. (Looking for betas for this btw!)

Potential RWRB fic ideas:

-it's Alex & Bea who have cakegate and after damage control, the queen thinks they should start a courtship... Alex & Henry have other ideas though (want to explore gendered differences, the damage control would be so different with Bea and I think I'd like to make her asexual & explore that within a structure of tradition)

Original Fiction: Decompose

Near future London has been segregated by means of a new medical test, each sector representing a level of productivity. After going through the kitted out MRI machine, twin Harry Thorpe is wrongly moved from his comfortable life in the highly skilled sector where technology rules and excellence is expected, to the unskilled sector which seems stuck in the past but with much more variety.

Between alien customs and new romances with classmates, he discovers his own power hungry mum is trying to bring in the One Child Policy and that is only the beginning of her plans. Harry and a group of rebel social workers and civil servants might be the only thing that can stop her.

This is my first novel, it's young adult sci-fi, focuses on equality, chronic illness & disabilities, diversity, government corruption, found family, rebellion. It's got a diverse cast led by Harry, who is a soft pansexual bookworm with a sweet tooth. I'm currently editing & looking for beta readers for the next draft.

My next book project is still very early days but it's a very queer holiday romance.

Coral 'Corey' Henderson is on holiday in Majorca for 2 weeks, her sister missed the start of the holiday leaving her alone. Enter Alice Ortiz, a member of an Abba tribute act performing at the hotel.

All of Abba Nice Day are queer, Corey is a ginger plus size Scottish lesbian event planner, Alice is a bisexual Geordie (half Spanish) who loves singing but also wants to go to uni to study politics. This book will explore family dynamics, dementia, biphobia, body image, protesting & finding your purpose. I'll do a call out for betas when we get to it!

So now- what’s in the other building?

…Oh, this…looks foreboding. Excuse me while I go and heal real quick before messing with that panel over there-

Nevermind, I went all the way back to heal for nothing! Back to Malchous Forest!

Doesn’t seem to be much else up here, so let’s start heading southwest this time, I saw some stairs earlier…

Hello, strange purple building, what’s your deal?

Alright, time to keep heading west, see if this has anything to it…

Ah, we’re playing this game again, I see how it is. Alright, fine, I saw the way down to that tree earlier, let’s just go back around and-

There! And it didn’t even leave an inconveniently-placed vine behind! Although, even if it did, it wouldn’t be much of an issue- unlike Obsidia Park, this place has more going on besides just G R E E N, so it’s much easier to navigate while backtracking.

So we go up and around, go down this little slope, and…?

Oooh, it’s another abandoned Gym, hm? Not unlike the one in Coral Ward…except this one has more vines sprouting out of its orifices, of course. With all this purple…was it a former Poison-type Gym? Or maybe Ghost-type…? Maybe it doesn’t matter right now- but either way, there’s a vine we can’t clear, so we need to take the long way around. 

But while we can’t get down to the Gym this way, there’s still some space off to the side to explore, which makes me think there’s something hidden over there.

And I was right!

And I was right again! And that one’s even more useful! But now I’m seeing another item down there that we can’t get to right now- sad. But we can keep going north this way, and there’s another special tree to Cut, so coming this way was an even more correct decision!

So now we know which way to go next- great! But this was only the right side- what’s on the left side, if anything? Let’s go back around and-

GAH! THIRD TIME! WHAT IS THIS KID!?

Oh, they…were not there just a minute ago. Meteor Grunts work fast, it seems.

So the PULSE is inside the Gym? I was kinda suspecting that, what with it being a big suspicious building in the center of all this with a bunch of plants jutting out of it, but nice to have confirmation.

Oh, that’s actually very helpful! For that, I’ll forgive you for jumpscaring me yet again.

Also, why did her dialogue give me “it’s dangerous to go alone” energy-

Aaaand off she goes again…oh boy, Corey is definitely gonna kill us…and by us, I mean Xera.

Anyways, as I was saying before cutscene stuff interrupted me, let’s check out the left side of this specific area.

And I was right again! There might not be any hidden items, but there’s definitely something else!

Now we can start making our way up that other side.

General first thoughts on QC (some spoilers):

I really enjoyed the show overall. The love story, as tragic as parts of it are, felt the most honest and the most complete in a way the previous two seasons haven't. I don't have much to say (right now) about Charlotte and George other than I love them and I'm glad that their story was told. India and Corey did such a phenomenal job.

Kris Bowers is the heartbeat of Bridgerton and this is his best score yet.

I adored just about every moment of Brimsley and Reynolds's story. I was happy to see Hugh Sachs get more to do here as well.

While I can see what the show was going for with Lady Danbury's storyline, I'm just very confused and honestly quite disappointed by the execution. This of course has less to do with Danbury's actions herself and more to do with the world and the situations that were set up around her. The conflict between her and Violet is such an odd choice and it really does feel like just an excuse to have Violet in the show. Based on the promo, I was also expecting a lot more of Agatha and Charlotte's friendship. They had some of my favorite moments, but I wish we would have gotten more of them. And given all of the criticisms surrounding Simon's sexual assault in season one, you would think Shonda would have learned a lesson. It's worse here too because it's constantly being thrown in the viewer's face episode after episode.

All of that said, Arsema is incredible and she really elevates what she's been given. I would love to see her come back in flashbacks or other spinoffs in the future. I also want to give a shout-out to Peyvand Sadeghian who plays Coral. I loved Coral and Danbury's dynamic.

I feel like this going to be an unpopular opinion, but I'm actually very much here for horny!Violet. I don't know if this plot belonged in this show specifically, but I am curious about what it means for her in Bridgerton.

This show got me excited for the future and the potential for other stories to be told outside of the Bridgerton family (Will and Alice prequel next! Or Lesbian!Portia, that could be fun too).

Second day of school, have to make a video presentation about myself to my 26 year old biology teacher. She’s rly nice, but I think she’s related to a girl I liked from afar in a ballet class I took awhile ago. They look rly similar and I think they have the same last name, it’s an uncommon name too soooo that’s interesting :/

There’s a section about “your purpose” what your dream occupation or goal is, we have to put an inspiring quote related to that. I wanna be a microbiologist that centers around marine life, algae specifically, coral reef preservation, zooxanthellae and stuff like that (Shout out to my guy Corey🪸) Obviously this was greatly influenced in my brain as a young child watching the very beginnings of Octonauts, definitely gonna put an Octonauts quote. Not sure which one, open to suggestions :)

Will continue to post this stuff until it becomes mundane and until I finish regular life stuff, I’ve had no time to work on my fanfic and it sad :c plus all the stuff I wanna post here but need to get my ideas all out first

Chapter 14- Part 1

Ah, look at that resolution- yeah, the white bar at the top is a little inconvenient, but it’s a minor thing compared to everything. I know I could crop it out, but I specifically used this new method to minimize the amount of cropping I had to do, so I’m not gonna bother with it. 

Anyways, our newest destination is Jasper Ward, and I remember exactly where we need to go! So let’s get going, back to Peridot Ward!

And there’s the entry tunnel! I didn’t go inside of it back then because…well, the dialogue from the NPCs implied I wouldn’t get very far, so I didn’t see much point in it. But now, we’ve got the plot on our side, so we can go as far as we want!

…Hey, wait- why is Jasper the green-colored ward? Shouldn’t it be more like…red or orange or reddish-orange, like actual jaspers are? The other wards- namely Obsidia, Onyx, and Coral- have color associations that make sense for the minerals they’re named after, so what’s up with this one? Heck- if you really think about it, the colors for Peridot and Jasper Wards would make more sense if they were swapped, since peridots are typically some flavor of green. 

Honestly, if Lapis Ward isn’t associated with blue, I’m gonna be…at least somewhat mildly miffed. Anyways, enough outta me, into the tunnel we go-

Another guard, huh? I hope this one doesn’t try to impede us like the one at Obsidia Ward did- we’ve got Florinia’s permission, so it should be fine, right?

“Kerfuffle” is…definitely one word to use to describe what happened.

Here’s the question I have right now: is it just one PULSE machine doing this, or is it two, one for each ward? Like, how widespread is the range of this particular PULSE? I think it was implied back in Obsidia Park that the Tangrowth PULSE’s reach and power has limitations, but the fact that the PULSE Dex called it “05C” implies there are A and B variants as well, which might be even stronger…

Oh dear, so Team Meteor’s body count is increasing ever higher? Are we gonna see plant-entagled corpses as we explore these wards? Seems like the kinda thing a game advertised as being darker than the canon games might do.

Um- yeah! Of course, officer! Xera’s got two out of eighteen Gym Badges, that makes her qualified to handle this…yeah, definitely…

Ah, shoot- the timing of taking screenshots with this program is a little different from how I was doing it before. Guess I’ll have to get used to it.

Anyways, through the gate and into the light we go…into a new area of devastation!

AH, CHILD JUMPSCARE! Who is she? And…the heck is Corey doing over there? Mm- wait, is this…?

Aha, I do remember Corey mentioning having a daughter a little while ago. So that’s her, huh? Definitely more…pink than I was expecting, I can tell which parent she doesn’t get her looks from.

But like- Corey, my man, Jasper Ward is apparently almost abandoned, if there are any degenerates in this city, they’re not here. Jasper Ward is completely dangerous and unfit for children for entirely different reasons!

I mean, Xera’s hardly a stranger. Corey knows who she is, he knows she’s at least slightly trustworthy- she helped him get his medicine back that one time, and she kept quiet about his business in the Obsidia Slums. That’s gotta count for something, yeah?

Ah, she is stricken with adolescence- something even a doctor like Corey can’t deal with using just medicine.

Venus Williams Beauty Routine: Tennis Player Stresses Importance of Inclusive Skincare

Elite tennis player Venus Williams recently revealed his beauty routine that highlights the importance of inclusive skincare. As a Black athlete, she’s aware that the quest for sunscreen, in particular, is a common issue for melanin-rich people.

The four-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time Grand Slam winner has spent most of her life training and playing under the harsh sun. However, she tells Harper’s Bazaar that she didn’t realize the importance of sun protection until she was 30. Like many, she thought that her dark skin didn’t need sunscreen.

This is a common misconception in the Black community. Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Corey Hartman confirms to Harper’s Bazaar that hyperpigmentation is one of the top skin concerns of darker-skinned patients. Hyperpigmentation is made worse with sun exposure so proper sun protection is a must for all skin tones.

In addition, Dr. Hartman says that he’s partial to mineral sunscreens since they are more effective against the sun’s rays. He also adds that mineral sunscreens do not cause allergies and are “chemical-free, ocean- and environmentally-friendly.” However, it’s hard to find a mineral sunscreen for dark skin as they usually leave a white cast.

EleVen by Venus Williams

Williams is a skincare and clean beauty enthusiast. This has led her to collaborate with Credo, a clean beauty brand. She shares with Harper’s Bazaar that she found it difficult to find a sunscreen that was clean, not ashy, and was lightweight enough to serve as a makeup base. She also needed a product that would suit an athlete’s active lifestyle. With limited choices in the market, she decided to develop her own formula with Credo.

Dr. Hartman confirms that physical sunscreens that do not leave an ashy or white cast on dark skin is a welcome innovation. According to Vanity Fair, Williams launched her sunscreens through her EleVen by Venus Williams label in May last year.

Williams presented two sun protection products: the Unrivaled Sun Serum with SPF 35 and the On-the-Defense Sunscreen with SPF 30. The former is for the face while the latter is for both face and body. According to the official website, the Unrivaled Sun Serum earned an Allure Best of Beauty Award for 2020.

Eleven by Venus Williams Perfect Form Lip Balm

William’s latest product is the Perfect Form Lip Balm. While more people are using sunscreen religiously now, the lips are often neglected. Dr. Hartman stresses that the lips are thinner and more susceptible to photo-aging and prior to Covid-19 mask-wearing, are always exposed to the sun. The Perfect Form Lip Balm has SPF 15 which is suitable for daily sun protection.

Aside from offering protection, William’s lip balm formula also comes in tinted variants. Venus is a red hue, Power Player is coral while Game Day is a berry pink. For those who’d like a lipstick base, 15 Love is the clear version. The Perfect Form Lip Balm is a vegan product formulated with 20 percent zinc oxide for sun protection. To condition the lips, it has shea butter and beeswax alternative bayberry fruit wax.
