DID/OSDD culture is always being dissatisfied with your social media algorithms because everyone has different preferences. why are there a bunch of dimension 20 edits on our youtube feed. we’ve never watched dimension 20. i have no idea who any of these people are. WHO DID THIS

wait until the “DID/OSDD sounds fun” club finds out i’ve been so severely dissociated the past month that i can’t feel pain or hunger or thirst or emotions as anything more than a dull ache in the background and my brain has stopped registering my surroundings as real

boy it would be nice to be able to google something related to personality disorders, psychosis, intellectual disabilities, autism, DID/OSDD, etcetera without finding majority articles that are like “how to deal with a person with X” “how to cope with your child with X” “how to spot someone faking X” “can people with X be cured?”

Plurality Wrapped
This year you:
Fakeclaimed yourself 5,729 times
Accidentally discovered 92 trauma memories
Immediately forgot 92 trauma memories
Contradicted something a different headmate said 288 times
Almost outed yourself 45 times
Had littles spend all your money 67 times
Forgot what you were doing 2,890 times
Failed to mask as the host 176 times
Split who knows how many new headmates
Repeated the same story 39 times
Got jumpscared by your reflection 103 times
Your top moods this year:
Who the fuck am I
What if I’m secretly faking it
How long have I been standing here dissociating
I suddenly hate (current activity)
When did we split (headmate)???

DID/OSDD alter roles we’ve coined! this is just for fun, feel free to use.
inspired by @butterednuttered! all credit to them for the idea, we thought it was really neat and wanted to do our own. i hope this is okay!
CERBERUS: a Cerberus alter guards certain alters, subsystems/sidesystems, or locations in the innerworld. they might keep locations/alters/groups of alters from being discovered, keep alters or groups of alters from interacting, protect locations/alters/groups of alters, etcetera.
GARDENER: a Gardener alter provides long-term care to a specific alter or group of alters. they might act as a therapist, mentor, parent, or caretaker to the alters under their care.
ACADEMIC: an Academic alter is an alter who fronts to handle academia & education such as homework, absorbing information from lectures, study groups, research, etcetera.
HELLFIRE: a Hellfire alter is an anger holder. they might not act on their anger, but they exist to process and feel anger for the system. their anger may be extremely intense and never fully fade due to their role.
JESTER: a Jester alter uses humor in order to diffuse tension. they might tell jokes, pull pranks, pretend to be extremely clumsy, etcetera to get others to laugh at them or with them.
TREASURER: a Treasurer alter is an alter who handles finances for a system. they may do things like hide passwords, budget, make sure others aren’t spending money, etcetera.
MIRROR (specific to autistic systems): a Mirror alter is a form of social protector who mirrors others in order to mask. they might study mannerisms & expressions in media, create and memorize scripts for social situations, absorb and mirror the mannerisms and language of others, etcetera.
HOLLOW: a Hollow alter is an amnesia holder for the system. their amnesia is more intense than baseline for the system, such as experiencing blackout amnesia when the system normally experiences grey-out amnesia.
WATCHER: a Watcher alter is an alter who doesn’t show themself to the others, but is always watching. they may be at the corner of the system’s mind, but other alters may never get a grasp on them unless they choose to reveal themself.
LOCKBOX: a Lockbox alter is a trauma holder who continually takes memories of trauma as they happen and is the only one (or one of a few) who has access to those memories.
WARDEN: a Warden alter enforces rules within the system. they may punish or limit alters who disobey or break rules. some may be persecutors, others protectors.

I have had a situation recently, and I would like your advice on it. I run a gaming discord server, with private servers for a few games. A streamer joined who claimed to have DID. They seemed to flaunt it all over their streams, seemingly very attention seeking. This, to me, seems likely to be fake, but I am unsure. Can you give any input? I don't want to have someone who makes up mental illnesses, discrediting those who actually have them, around, but I also don't want to falsely accuse someone.
sure, i’m happy to give my input, but it might not be what you’re looking for. you seem to have good intentions and this isn’t meant to bully or shame you at all, i just want to gently push back on this a little bit.
i personally believe there is never a good enough reason to accuse someone of faking a mental illness, especially something like DID/OSDD. there is no reliable way to spot a faker, and accusing people of lying does far more to hurt the community than faking does. let me explain.
some systems like to talk about their experiences, some don’t. same goes for anyone with any condition. talking about one’s plurality frequently is not automatically them flaunting it, and it’s certainly not grounds to assume they’re faking. plurality informs one’s entire life, we should be allowed to talk about it without having to worry if we’re being perceived as attention seeking.
here’s the thing. it’s wonderful that you want to help protect people who have DID/OSDD from people who might be faking it and i don’t doubt for a second that your intentions are genuine, but accusing someone of faking based on how you perceive them will do far more to discredit them than someone who’s actually faking it.
because here’s what’s going to happen if you remove them from your space because you think they’re faking: everyone around you who may be a closeted system - or even just anyone with a highly stigmatized disorder - is going to know that your acceptance of them isn’t based on their self-report, it’s based on your own perception of their symptoms. they will no longer feel free to be themselves, because showing their symptoms comes with the risk of being kicked out. you’ll have effectively made your space less safe for people with stigmatized conditions. and for the accused person, you’ll have removed them from a space that’s meant to be safe and completely invalidated their lived experience based on them choosing to speak about said experience.
on the flipside, let’s say they are faking and you do nothing. most likely scenario, they’re attention seeking and using DID to get the attention they want. what ends up happening most of the time is the person faking it eventually gets tired of the harassment and of having to keep all their lies straight and they stop.
of course lying about an already stigmatized condition for attention is an awful thing to do, and i’m not defending people who do it. what i am saying is that it is far less harmful to accidentally include a liar than it is to exclude someone who may or may not be lying with no way to know for sure if they are.
TLDR: whether they’re faking or not, them talking about it isn’t a reason to assume they are. and regardless, it’s always better to assume they’re telling the truth.
i hope this helps! we had a few switches in the middle of writing this so i’m sorry if the phrasing doesn’t flow well lmao

to anyone who thinks introjects are being dramatic when we talk about our experiences and what our sources mean to us:
imagine you woke up one day in a body that looks nothing like yours. imagine you remembered some of the life that body had lived, but it felt nothing like yours. imagine having to come to terms with the fact that everything and everyone you knew and every memory you had of your previous life…never happened. none of it was ever real. now imagine all of that, plus a ton of chronically online strangers mocking and bullying anyone like you for just existing.
a degree of source separation is healthy, but some of us can’t just get over it. some of us are mourning lives that feel more real than the ones we’re currently living. we’re not being dramatic.

if any of my lovely moots or followers see a post floating around about how RAMCOA (Ritual Abuse, Mind Control, Organized Abuse) is supposedly an antisemitic conspiracy theory asserting that there’s a global underground cult network doing occult sacrifices please know that person has an extremely incorrect idea of what RAMCOA is.
RAMCOA doesn’t mean global cult doing sacrifices. it’s an umbrella term about a few specific types of abuse. “organized abuse” doesn’t mean global cult. it can be as small as a single family. “ritual abuse” doesn’t mean occult sacrifices. rituals can be literally anything. “mind control” doesn’t mean a secret memory wiping machine, it means programming (and other things).
and no, the RAMCOA community doesn’t have a secret dark agenda to convince all trauma survivors that their missing memories must be because of some memory wiping machine belonging to a secret underground sacrificial cult. most of us seek out every possible alternative explanation before looking at RAMCOA, and we encourage others to do the same.
i can see how they got there from the perspective of someone who knows a lot about antisemitism and nothing about RAMCOA but to assert the entire thing is fake is extremely disrespectful and dangerous. i won’t go into specifics of what RAMCOA is exactly because that would be too triggering for us, but please don’t form your opinion off a post from someone who is not a RAMCOA survivor and has a fundamental misconception of what it means. thanks.
also please don’t seek out and send hate to the OP. and please don’t send this post their way, we have no interest in discoursing about this. this is just a PSA for our followers.

listen as a persecutor in recovery i cannot stress enough how weird and gross and fucked up it is that some of y’all in the plural community treat persecutors so badly just on merit of them being persecutors.
i read something recently where the OP encouraged systems to permanently lock up their persecutors so everyone else can heal and they can’t. i’ve seen posts where hosts and protectors brag about the awful things they do to persecutors. i’ve seen so many depictions even by other systems showing persecutors as irredeemable evil subhuman creatures. it’s fucking disgusting. you know what kind of behavior that is? abusive. it’s abusive behavior.

gentle reminder to the DID/OSDD community that alter dysphoria is not an excuse to be creating AI art. i know it can be tempting to use it to easily create a visualization of your appearance but that doesn’t stop it being deeply unethical. drawing art yourself, editing photos, commissioning someone, looking for already existing art, or using picrew & other character creation tools are all more ethical choices that can still help you visualize without using AI models that are being used to steal from millions of artists and destabilize their livelihoods.

a piece we made to visualize being co-conscious
[Image description: a digital painting of the reflection of a light skinned person’s face in a round mirror. the mirror is cracked into four pieces, and each piece shows a part of a different person. one piece has two eyes on the left side of the nose. one piece has dark brown eyes and hair and shows the majority of the face. the two other pieces show ginger hair and freckles.]

just a heads up for any photosensitive systems/anyone on systok who may not have seen it - the pinksugarfairies system on tiktok has come out with a very ableist and extremely dangerous stance on flash warnings. they’re equating flash warnings to topic trigger warnings, are refusing to put flash warnings on their videos that contain flashing/strobing, and are instead saying that photosensitive people should simply just scroll.
the original video has been deleted but you can find a video about it here. it’s only a few minutes long, i recommend watching the entire thing for more details.
if you’re unfamiliar, pinksugarfairies system is an educational content creator who has 298k followers at time of posting this. their educational content spans multiple topics. no matter what they do, as long as their videos are publicly available there will always be new people seeing their videos and the vast majority of these people will not know that they’ve made this stance and frequently upload content with flashing.
it is extremely dangerous and negligent to choose not to add flash warnings to videos, especially as a large content creator. there are people who can die from exposure to flashing lights. seizures can start within seconds, there is no reaction time with which to scroll. it is not just ableist to refuse to add flash warnings, it is potentially lethal.
this is deeply disappointing to see from such a large content creator that many of us look up to. at time of posting this i believe their account is private and my hope is that they’re taking time to reflect, however they’re blocking everyone who calls them out and have made no mention of it anywhere. for now, if you’re photosensitive i would recommend blocking them.

all the media that portrays DID/OSDD systems as horrible violent people is so ridiculous considering how deeply unserious it is sometimes. like i’m not out here murdering people, i just have people in my head who “nice one” my burps
