"people can use pro-kink language to groom children" yeah thats true. they can also use minecraft to groom children & yet it would still be bad to accuse random people posting about minecraft of being pedophiles innit

i hope u dont mind me asking but where is it implied john is a survivor of childhood sexual assault?
Yeah, I did kind of just throw that one out there, didn't I? The implication is spread out across a combination of John's backstory and behavior, especially in Nona the Ninth.
cw for discussion of sexual coercion, csa, and systemic abuse in an academic setting
Let's start with his behavior. Mercy and Augustine spent five hundred years planning Dios Apate Major down to the last detail. Luring John into bed was clearly not an easy thing to do at the time. And while a lot of worse stuff came to light in the big reveal scene in Harrow the Ninth to overshadow it, what Augustine and Mercy did was a violation of John's bodily autonomy and a form of sexual assault.
The next time we hear from John, he's on a binge drinking hypersexual spiral, turning on a dime from five hundred years of near-celibacy to sleeping his way through the full cast and crew of the Erebos. I love a good "he fucked that old man" joke as much as the next guy, and I intend to keep making them, but that kind of zero to sixty manic behavior is a pretty common response to triggered sexual trauma.
Very early on in Nona, John recites a list of his schools. First on that list is Dilworth. Dilworth is a private school for economically disadvantaged (read: poor, and majority indigenous) boys, and it has a reputation. To quote its wikipedia page:
A class action complaint is currently underway against Dilworth School seeking accountability and compensation from the school for knowingly failing to protect students from systemic sexual abuse that occurred between 1970 and 2006.
John attended that school as an academically gifted gender non-conforming indigenous boy with no support network. His only known family died of pneumonia while he was enrolled. He was a vulnerable target in a high-risk enviorment.
This wouldn't be enough to come to a conclusion if John were a real person, but if John were a real person, we'd be out of bounds in speculating. Name-checking Dilworth in John's backstory was a choice, and I think the implication is pretty clear.

So, are we reaching the point in the AI discourse yet when it is acceptable to point out that these kinds of posts are insane hysteria, or am I still meant to pretend that this is a reasonable reaction to ML/AI advances in polite company?
"A lich reanimating the corpse of humanity" "the most harmful thing to the human species besides climate change" this is deranged. Why are people incapable of having actual discussions about AI/how to handle automation and not talking about the former like they're reading a litany against Satan incarnate?

so i finally got around to watching poor things last night and i couldn't stop thinking about how much it resonated with me as a csa survivor. i know there were a lot of people who were critical of the film and how it took advantage of bella's sexuality because she wasn't in a position to consent to it, and that's okay! art is meant to be looked at and discussed and even criticized! but for me and me alone i looked at her and her journey as a woman working to reclaim herself from the very people who tried to take the very notion of her self away. the more bella learned about the world and grew into her own person and her own ideas and how she began to reject the abuse she suffered at the hands of men like duncan and alfie and was instead drawn to the love and warmth she felt from people like max and toinette, how quickly she was labeled both a whore and a cunt and how her worth was only ever defined by the men who abused her, and yet it never stopped her from being herself, from pursuing who she was, what she wanted, how she felt. this movie was gorgeous, artistic, and entirely unapologetic in its weirdness and its satire, but at the heart of it was something so beautiful and personal and philosophical that i think it will always be a favourite of mine.

Hi! I read your blogs about Rick & Grooming, and I'm SHOCKED. I have a question considering Evil Morty: taking into consideration that he was basically mind raping Evil Rick, that he already had the parts of SOME kind of mind-control implant inside his own head when he decided to attack Evil Rick, and that he thought strapping naked Mortys on a dome was Not That Big A Deal... is the implication here that in his case the (allegorical) abuse went one step further, or am I reading this wrong?
First of all, sorry for the super delayed response. To answer your question, it's possible!
We haven't gotten explicit confirmation that Evil Morty's life was any different from Morty Prime's, which I think is supposed to make the audience suspect that Morty Prime has the ability to become like Evil Morty in the future.
But the impression I get from the flashback scene at the beginning of Unmortricken is that Evil Morty was highly familiar with the Citadel's practices of raising Mortys to be slaves of Ricks. He might have even been a Morty clone himself who was raised on the Citadel rather than one who was born naturally like Morty Prime.
Your point about how Evil Morty seems to have already had a mind control chip in his head also suggests a former life on the Citadel, as the game Pocket Mortys is based around the concept of the Citadel mind controlling Mortys with a "manipulator chip."
Tumblr media
It would make sense if Morty figured out how to use this technology against his assigned Rick and then used his knowledge of the Citadel's inner workings to carry out his plan to destroy the Central Finite Curve.
As for the detail of Evil Morty controlling his Rick to torture a bunch of naked Mortys, I genuinely believe this was meant to be suggestive of both sexual abuse and physical abuse within the greater Rick and Morty dynamic, even if it was done for comedic effect.
Tumblr media
In Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind, Rick even says "looks like payday at Neverland Ranch in here," referencing the allegations of Michael Jackson's sexual abuse of children at his amusement park. I mean it's pretty blatant.
Tumblr media
The episode also does a brief callback to the scene from the simulation episode where Rick tells Morty to undress with him in the shower, once again recalling a similar joke with the new context that it may be one of Rick's most cherished memories of Morty.
So no, I don't think you're entirely off-base to think Evil Morty's desensitization to seeing himself stripped down and tortured points to a more extreme level of abuse than Morty Prime experienced with C-137. Especially since C-137 is increasingly being portrayed as a more emotional kind of Rick who has the capacity to change.

As a general rule, Feyd doesn't like to sleep with virgins. It takes a lot for him to feel comfortable 'taking' that from someone and would only take someone's virginity if he had a very serious romantic connection or relationship with him. The weird flipside is he attracted to people he perceives as 'pure' precisely because it's not a quality he believes he possesses.

I was reading through youre "how not to be abusive" tag (very helpful btw especially since im trying to unlearn what i learnt from my family) and i saw your posts about teenagers that dress up to look older than they actually are. Im a freshly turned 22 year old and in the previous years i have had times where i've mistaken 16 or 17 year old to be my age or close to my age. I do find out quickly that they're not my age and i stay away from them, but i dont know how concerned i should be that i did find them attractive before i realized they were teens. Should i be concerned?
I mean I personally don't think mistaking someone for an adult and being attracted till you realize they're not is a big deal. Especially at your age.
If I remember those posts right I was more trying to poke holes in the way adults who date kids routinely claim they went an entire relationship without realizing the kid was underage. Like every single person I've ever talked to who got caught "dating" a kid has been like "she lied about her age I had no idea she was 15 and it's her fault!" It generally strains credulity.
If you're not pursuing kids sexually/romantically, I don't think you're doing anything wrong. Definitely check ages if you're not the best at telling though, it's some slight awkwardness in exchange for knowing you're not taking advantage, well worth it.
We have a responsibility as adults to not engage w kids sexually/romantically and that's not on the kids to prevent, was my main point.

Out of my body and out of my mind is just where I am aiming to go:
to daydreams and thousand-yard stares across stretches of land,
I travel where my father cannot touch me. This is the only way
I inhabit here.

man i have not posted enough pericky-specific content lately. i need to fix that. partly because it's a quality ship i love very much, and partly out of spite because tumblr is a garbage website and blocking does not keep me from seeing popular blogs around who talk about murdering pericky shippers and people who just, like, acknowledge that it's canonical SA/CSA/domestic violence survivor rep lol

non-normative sexuality is not the root of sexual abuse or rape. for a huge amount of history in a huge amount of the world, sexual abuse and rape have been thoroughly normal (cf. marital rape exemptions being removed from US legal codes as recently as 2019). rapists are not 'freaks' -- the default, 'normal' paradigm of sexuality across the world is one of violent misogyny. 640 million women are or were child brides and the men marrying them are not abberations or exceptions, they are normal. men who engage in endemic workplace harassment or frat boys who assault women are behaving in a way that is 'normal', they are fulfiling the gendered expectations for expressions of heterosexual sexuality when they harass and catcall and abuse women. projecting sexual violence onto the specter of the obviously deviant, abnormal outsider is a scapegoating mechanism intended to sanitize and exonerate the cisheteropatriarchal standard of normalized and ubiquitous sexual violence

It's not an accident that John is an indigenous man. It's not an accident that he's implied to be a survivor of childhood sexual assault. It's not an accident that he's clearly mentally ill, with no support network outside his colleagues who are relying on him to save the world.
John, as a character, is about how much pressure and how much suffering a person can endure before they break. He's about the weight of generational trauma. He's about having a meltdown that destroys your life, that hurts people, that you can never really come back from, and having to live with the consequences. His rage and his pain are both massive and legitimate, and if you don't engage with that you are missing the fucking point. Respectfully.
This post is not rebloggable to make sure I don't go nuke melbourne myself. Love and peace. ✌️

okkkk but also.... i am continuously so disappointed in the way the show depicts v and anna's "relationship" which started when vil was 13-14????? depicting v as some sort of temptress and like they were not a child when they castrated anna's husband out of "jealousy" which was when v's intense/obsessive behavior no longer suited her or flattered her because it created a shift in the extremely unbalanced and exploitative power dynamic between them

Says something about what it's like being a trans woman online that the one of the first posts I've had go viral in years already has people in the replies baselessly speculating about how I could be a child abuser. Fun climate we live in.

While I've seen plenty of criticisms of Outlast for ableism/stigmatizing mental illness (because your enemies are murder-happy asylum inmates), I honestly beg to differ—at least for the most part. For one thing, only a handful of inmates actually attack you. Most of the other patients there are either in shock or just trying to lay low and stay alive through all the chaos going on around them. Even the more proactive of the non-combatant characters, such as the pyro you encounter in the kitchen, are just trying to get out—and their desperation is made to be pretty relatable. Even the boss characters like Chris Walker and Eddie Gluskin were victims of the asylum. For crying out loud, the Whistleblower DLC opens with Eddie getting dragged into the morphogenic engine kicking and screaming and begging for help—it's what solidifies Waylon Park's determination to take down Murkoff. Even when you find Eddie's files later on and see that, yes, he was already a murderer before he wound up in Mount Massive, that also comes with notes about the sexual abuse he experienced as a child and his denial of it. It doesn't excuse his actions—of course it doesn't—but it shows that he didn't become the way he is from nothing. Furthermore, the entire Mount Massive arc focuses so heavily on the theme of abuse of power. The patients are enduring horrific experimentation at the hands of people like Blair and Trager, and that is what sets up the rest of the story. The people running the show are the catalysts for all hell breaking loose—not the patients, who are instead victims of a system that is exploiting them by pushing them past their mental and physical limits, and has no qualms about treating them as replaceable test subjects. They are already sick people thrust into terrifying circumstances. Some of them were already dangerous to begin with, but most of them were not. They were all in a place that was supposed to help them cope with their conditions and rehabilitate, but instead were exploited and had their issues exacerbated by being traumatized further, and that's part of what makes Outlast terrifying.  So yeah, the portrayal of mentally ill people in Outlast isn't phenomenal, sure, but it goes beyond making all the patients out to be horrible monsters. Most of them are just trying to stay out of all the awful shit going on and stay alive without completely breaking down. The games still makes you feel for those people after you see how desperate and terrified a lot of them are, due mainly because of the abuses they have suffered from the people who were supposed to help them.
idk if i've posted about outlast (well except for reblogging cupcake's dimitri fic inspired by outlast's universe but—) but this was an interesting read nonetheless! i don't know enough about the game to speak on it, and i'm too zooted right now to go in a big discussion about it, but i can see your points! idk if i agree with all of them (need to do more research, but i'm generally quite wary of that stuff in media) but i liked reading this post!

OPTIONAL ELABORATIONS:
SONG: NEED YOU TONIGHT BY INXS *There's a very raw, desperate quality to the song as it dances between being kind of flippant and vulnerable. Which is all very Feyd. FLOWER: Anemone *The flowers that bloomed after Adonis was killed by a rival. GREEN FLAGS: This doesn't even tie into my 'Feyd has a crush on Irulan' headcanon. He's also really into @voicestm's Usagi. More broadstrokes he tends to like people with qualities he lacks or thinks he lacks. RED FLAGS: Being controlling, calling him things like 'darling', 'beautiful', etc. Really anything that reminds him of his Uncle. Also not a fan of any kind of PDA weirdly. I feel like someone who he can't get a reaction out of too might be deal breaker.
