Mithrax, knocking on Eido's lab door: Eido, I require your assistance.
Eido, muffled and angry: Father, I wish to be left alone!
Mithrax, pulling up something and sending her it: I inquire about the usage of the verb Yeet and How to correctly use it in blog posts.
Eido, slamming the door open: Father, you drive a difficult to resist bargain. Come in, there's much to discuss.
Spider, rolling his eyes: I could have told him...

Destiny and Foreshadowing
I’m totally supposed to be doing homework but I’m so impressed by Destiny’s storytelling recently (specifically within the last year or so) and their way of foreshadowing and linking characters and themes together. Yesterday I read the lore entry V - CREDIBLE THREAT in which (Spoiler alert!) Crow goes to the Ether Tank and is going to leave a knife wedged into one of the stools as a threat to Spider, but decides against it. Instead, Glint threatens Spider directly after Crow decides not to. In that lore piece, Crow decides not to threaten Spider because he comes to the realization that Spider is “someone sleeping alone in a city of enemies.”
In some of the homework that I’m supposed to be doing right now, I stumbled across the word ‘sojourner,’ and let me be honest, that’s just not in my vocabulary so I looked it up and the definition I found was ‘a temporary resident,’ but specifically one who is only surviving due to the goodwill of the community around them. Then I thought, hey, there’s a Destiny weapon called this, I know it, and lo and behold there is! Sojourner’s Tale, which is a weapon from Season of the Splicer with a lore tab that directly discusses Crow and Spider. In the story, this lore tab depicts Spider’s reaction to learning that Crow has just stolen massive amounts of supplies from Spider and gifted them to the House of Light in Spider’s name.
Given the title of that lore tab and the season it takes place in, one would probably guess that the sojourner (or sojourners) in question is Mithrax and the Eliksni House of Light, however, examining the events of that season, I’m inclined to disagree. In the Season of the Splicer, the House of Light is berated and hated by the community around them, and seem to be surviving in spite of the community, rather than benefiting from the community’s generosity. Still, at the time of the Season of the Splicer, they’re the only people that could really be seen as sojourners. This is where the foreshadowing comes in. This lore tab is almost entirely about Spider, and in the current season we have Spider deprived of his wealth and power, living in the City at the mercy of humanity and the House of Light. To quote V - CREDIBLE THREAT, “[Spider] now survived on the charity of Drifter and Mithrax alone.”
Spider has been the sojourner of Sojourner’s Tale all along, we just didn’t know it. And what’s fantastic about that is that Sojourner’s Tale has been with us for over a year now. Destiny was foreshadowing Spider’s fall for over a year before it happened and before they finally went full circle and connected these two pieces of lore. Say what you will about Destiny’s story, but the way they can connect lore and themes like this is absolutely fantastic.

Foggy Yesterdays (Variks Headcannon)
Yet more Variks because he is my beloved and because he knew Mithrax as a little kid and after the second lore book by Mithrax’s mom I just had to. I say little, but Mithrax is like probably hundreds of years old by this point.
                                                   -----------------------
He couldn’t remember what it was like to be a hatchling. It all seemed a foggy dream to Variks, giggling and playing in Riis’ glowing grasses. Climbing the fruit trees and sharing stories of spirits all under the light of the Great Machine. But it brought him some comfort as he watched Misraaks’s attempts to play.
The older children shunned him for the most part, mostly conned him out of his ether shares. Sometimes they would get physical and that was when Variks would step in, he would’ve defended the hatchlings shares as well but he had been scolded as though he were the thief last time he tried. It was rather… Cute, to watch the hatchling try endlessly to gather the attention of the other children, but time had made most eliksni cold. Even Variks had not been immune to the pains of the long drift. He was quieter, more secluded, and seen as nothing but a relic of the past. Inaaks had only taken him in after he’d tried to defend a Vandal from being killed for a crime he knew they did not commit. While he was shoved onto another Ketch, the Vandal was pushed out of the airlock. Neither she or him thought it was fair,
“We won’t keep you for long, scribe. Your talents aren’t needed.” Variks bowed to her,
“That you took me in at all is a blessing.” She seemed tired, and with a shake of her head and a sigh she waved Variks away,
“Go, watch the hatchlings, your feeble frame will be able to handle it.” He wanted to be useful, to help negotiate with other Ketch’s but Inaaks had made her position clear. Variks’ stay would only be temporary, even with how small he was, he was a significant strain on their already thin ether stores. Besides, watching the hatchlings got him away from the general gloom most of the ketch possessed. “Rakis… will you play with me?” Misraaks’ tiny voice had brought Variks back into the present,
“No. I don’t play with babies Misraaks. Siviks and I only play with hatchlings our own age.”
“But- Kithiks is older than you and so is Zythraks, Meiithis, and-”
“Well we’re closer to their age then you! You still haven’t started growing your secondaries yet.” Misraaks looked to the floor as the older hatchlings approached him and Rakis. Variks had learned Zythraks, being the oldest, seemed to think he was in charge of his younger peers. How amusing the politics of hatchlings were,
“Out of the way Rakis. Misraaks hasn’t given me his ether today.” Variks had also noticed that Zythraks was a glutton even though Rakis was rounder than him. Rakis crossed his arms,
“How do you expect Misraaks to get any bigger when you’re taking all his ether? If you want to be a good captain you’ve got to let your dregs eat, Zythraks.” the taller hatchling rumbled, looming over Rakis,
“I’ll take as much ether as I want from him, Rakis. I don’t care if he’s Inaakskel’s son. Now move.” Variks quietly shifted, he felt a fight boiling. Rakis hissed and Zythraks yelled attempting to pounce when Variks gave a sharp bang of his cane on the floor. Misraaks gasped and hide behind Variks’ leg as he spoke lowly,
“One more fight between the two of you and both your ether shares will go to Misraaks. Do I make myself clear hatchlings?” Rakis and Zythraks quickly separated as Siviks approached and giggled,
“You’re sometimes scary, Variks.” Variks nodded as he sat down once more and sighed,    “You are not exempt from that punishment, Siviks. Leave Misraaks’ ether alone.” Rakis laughed loudly at his brother being caught. Siviks fumed as he ran to his brother threatening to pull off Rakis’ secondary arms. Variks sighed as Misraaks slowly came out from hiding and laughed, joining in on chasing Rakis. While Rakis wailed to Variks to help him,
“A lesson, hatchling, on the consequences of gloating, and gluttony. Try to care more for your fellow Eliksni.” Variks did dare prattle on much longer, he knew the young ones wouldn’t listen. Perhaps Misraaks would, if he didn’t think he was playing with the brothers currently.
Still, Variks enjoyed watching them run as though they were on Riis. The home they would never know, and never miss. He could almost hear the grasses in the breeze, and smell the sweet blooms of the trees. He almost laughed, and then he opened his eyes and reality settled deep into his bones. He would never be able to go home.

Voksis, Baron of Light
Tumblr media
Brought back a really old Destiny OC, Voksis (or known as Voxus by Guardians)
He’s come such a long way, he’s gone through so many Houses and iterations I’ve made it part of his lore.
Here’s some shorthanded lore about Voksis. I’m planning on writing some more eventually, maybe I’ll even upload it somewhere for people to read.
Born of Kings. Banished to Exiles. Fallen to Spiders. Risen to Light.
Deep consuming Darkness. The horrid smell of rot. The shrieking of Hive rituals. The earliest memory of a young hatchling. Voksis, Son of Praviks, Baron of Kings. Swaddled into a tight bundle, strapped to his father’s chest.
A mission gone awry. Platoons of Fallen slaughtered. Praviks, Exiled. He was rash, wrathful, impulsive. Traits that allowed for so many to be killed. Traits that the Kings scorned.
Without Praviks’s exile, that’s what they would be now. Scorn. That, or dead.
Born of Kings.
Rising through the ranks to become a Captain, at the bane of his father. Grown to be the ire of many, reduced to a Dreg and tossed to the Thrall in the dark pits of the moon. Left to rot. No more a son of Praviks.
Slithering out of the deep darkness. Refusing to let the icy hand of death consume him. He needed no house, he would survive on his own.
Exiled from Exiles, by his father’s hand. Voksis was like his father, a trait which caught up with him. Out of spite, he survived. And now, he wanted revenge.
Banished to Exiles
Crawling back to life, he craved power. No longer looking after anyone else. Every Eliksni to themselves. But it left a longing in his life.
Traversed the Tangled Shore, into the heart of the Spider’s web. Down with the Houses, the Spider weaved. Every Eliksni a Captain, he threaded.
A new arm, a gift from a new friend. Or, perhaps a new enemy. The Spider never called himself a Kell, but the Syndicate was a merely a thinly veiled House. Odd jobs and bounty runs, that was Voksis was being paid for.
Fallen to Spiders.
Fleeing, Voksis left the House of Spider. He had proven rather useful to the Spider, no doubt the Spider would hunt for him. Voksis had too many enemies now.
Misraaks sought true freedom. A new House. No more Dusk. No more Spider. No more Salvation. A return to Light. Misraaks wanted to walk alongside the Lightbearers, the Guardians.
Voksis had laid his eyes across the solar system. He was tired of searching for purpose, but now he had found it. No more running or hiding. He could save himself. He could save his people.
Risen to Light.

Why i like Spider
So i should probably explain why i like spider
To but it simply, hes the reverse of the trope of "character you love to hate"
I hate the fact i love him, hes got the right combo of asshole + Magnificent Bastard that i cant help but love it. that coupled with a mysterious past and a rivel in the form of mara sov and im just "AUGH WHY YOU SO COOL BUT SO BAD"
Like, hes proper lawful evil and i love it, but then i go on sites like tumblr and everyones like "i hope mara sov kills that bitch" and im like "bro am i the only one who thinks this way?" and like, for all the bad stuff he did i'd still want him leading the shore more than mara sov because at least spider would openly stab you in the back.
Like, this whole season is very much showing a lot of people want spider dead right now but something in the latest lore book suggests a different (all be it unlikely since most D2 fans seem to adore mara so much) that spider might be allowed to remain in the elksni quarters as a asylum seeker
And before anyone says it yes, putting what is basically a bomb collar around crow and glint was fucked up. not gonna defend that.
Anyway, hot take over so feel free to shout at in the comments for this since most of the fanbase would probably have me staked over this

Minds Failings Part 1
I was finally able to finish this up, I haven't been able to start on the finished version for part 2 yet and it might take more time then this one, being I want to rework the whole thing and all. I really like how this one turned out so it will definitely be out eventually. also reminder that the poll on my last post is still going and I'll be changing my posting time to what ever one wins.
