everytime we talk about gilmore girls storylines we would erase people always mention chris and lorelai getting married or some of rory's bad decisions, which in my opinion are actually really important for the plot, but wHAT ABOUT ZACH???? I can't be the only one thinking his relationship with lane was so upsetting and unnecessary

I know ppl don’t like Nick but really thinking like- someone uses your body to inflict such immense pain on others and they are irreparable changed to react negatively to your form and you had no control over it maybe you don’t even remember and you have nothing and you probably feel empty like something is missing so you reach out for company only to have the only other person who gets you (and can never really) shrink from your hand.

“Hey.”
“Hey.”
Samira slid onto the bench across from Taylor. When he texted and said he wanted to meet up to talk, she had an idea about what. Only one significant thing had happened since she’d seen him last.
He ran his fingers through his short, blond hair, the early morning sunlight streaking it platinum. His eyes were wary, like he wasn’t sure what to say or where to start—or rather, he knew what needed to be said but wasn’t ready to hear her response.
Samira wasn’t sure when she started being able to read him so well, when they had crossed the line from co-conspirators to . . . whatever they were now. They weren’t exactly friends; they also weren’t lovers—even though they’d been pretending to be—but what they shared, what was between them, felt too wild, too reckless, for friendship and too insincere for love. They existed somewhere in between, and it had always only been a matter of time before lines had to be drawn.
“I talked to Hugo.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. He told me everything.”
Everything being Samira admitting that her and Taylor’s relationship had been fake the whole time because she was in love with Hugo and Taylor was in love with Sally and they believed vice versa to be true. Everything being that they’d started “dating” to try and get Hugo and Sally to realize they were indeed in love with Samira and Taylor. Everything being that Samira and Hugo had told each other they loved each other all within a couple hours of the rehearsal dinner she and Taylor had been trying to prevent. Everything being a kiss that left Samira wondering where her heart truly lay.
Her love life was a mess, and the only way to even begin untangling it was by talking it through. But she was terrified where those conversations would lead because it was only after talking to Hugo that she realized her and Taylor’s kiss may have been more than the performance they’d meant for it to be.
“I guess I should explain.”
He nodded, scooting closer, erasing some of the distance between them but not entirely. He dropped his hand on the back of the bench, right next to her shoulder, his fingers twitching like he was stopping himself from touching her. Samira was both a bit relieved and sad.
“There’s a lot we have to discuss, but first, I wanted to see if you were okay since we hadn’t gotten a chance to talk since you left dinner crying. I mean—are you—”
She shrugged. “I honestly don’t know. I mean, I think I can say I’m not okay because okay would mean I knew what I was feeling, and I don’t. There are way too many thoughts and emotions swirling around inside of me right for me to say I’m okay.
“But what about you?” She bumped her knee into his. “Anything new with you and Sally?”
He shook his head, but his expression didn’t reflect the disappointment she expected. “No love confession for me.” He smiled wryly, looking out over the landscape of the green space, but his eyes were focused on nothing.
He was beautiful, with his diamond jawline and hazel eyes. His hair rustled in the light breeze, making him look effortlessly cool. Samira wanted to reach up and comb it back, say she didn’t want it to fall into his eyes as an excuse to touch him, but she kept her hands to herself.
“I know Sally loves me. I know she does, but . . .” he trailed off.
Samira waited a few seconds for him to continue. When he didn’t, she prompted, “But?”
He turned his gaze back to her. Looking directly into her eyes, he said, “But, she’s determined to see this wedding through. But, she’s too stubborn to face her feelings for me. But”—he hesitated, dropping his eyes for a few seconds before his eyes flashed back at hers—“I think I might also have feelings for someone else now.”
Samira inhaled sharply, his admission settling in her chest, fueling her like the air she needed to breathe.
Taylor moved closer, eliminating whatever space was left between them. His fingers played with the frayed material of the hole in her jeans, momentarily brushing her skin and making her shiver.
“When we kissed, I had every intention of it being transactional, but then our lips touched and you smiled at me, and, for a moment, it felt like maybe, like maybe everything we’d been working toward was pointless because I had all that I wanted in my arms. And”—he wrapped his pinky around hers and looked up through his long eyelashes—“I thought maybe you felt it too?
“Was that—Did I imagine that or . . .?”
Samira slowly shook her head. “No, you didn’t.”
His shoulders sagged with relief. “I’m not naïve enough to think, should you want, that we could forget everything we’ve been doing and see where things go from here without having a much longer conversation, but would that be something you were interested in?”
There was so much hope in Taylor’s eyes and Samira realized that was one of the things she’d come to like about him—even when things weren’t looking promising, he remained optimistic.
She’d also come to appreciate his quick wit and dorky sense of humor; he loved the jokes on Laffy Taffy wrappers. He was so sweet, and when it was just the two of them, he gave her his undivided attention, like he couldn’t get enough of what she had to say. And the way his cheeks flushed rosy and pink when he was happy or excited made him so pretty.
And even though they hadn’t started off on the best foot, and they had some diametrically opposing views—like how he didn’t like Spongebob even though it was comedy gold and how he thought ranch belonged on everything while she couldn’t stand the stuff—at least they’d always been on the same page.
Yeah, she and Hugo had shared something spectacular, and instantaneous attraction and connection. They clicked; he was easily one of her favorite people, but their whole relationship was practically based on a lie. Hugo harboring feelings for her even though he was engaged. She and Taylor lying about being together to try and make him and Sally jealous. Sure, there’d been moments of truth in between, but if the basis of what they had was dishonest, that probably wouldn’t bode well for whatever future they might have. And, for all she knew, he was still getting married today.
But Taylor—
Her phone buzzed in her pocket. Sliding it out, she had a single notification: Lovelink: New Message from Hugo
She showed Taylor the screen. “Speak of the devil.”
Throwing his thumb over his shoulder, he said, “I can give you a minute, if you need it?”
Considerate. Another quality she admired about Taylor.
“Whatever he has to say concerns the both of us, so you don’t have to go.”
His mouth quirked up in a half smile.
Swiping open the app, Hugo’s message read: Just wanted to check in
A few choice responses came to mind, but she started with the obvious: I’m sorry I freaked out over the kiss
It’s all in the past
Samira’s eyebrows drew together. “The past” was less than twelve hours ago, and while she understood his being upset about the stunt she and Taylor had pulled, that kiss had been wild and passionate and full of desire. And no, it shouldn’t have happened while Hugo was still engaged or hours before his wedding, but it had. The way he kissed her proved more than the words did that his heart wasn’t totally in it with Sally. Even if Hugo didn’t want to figure out a relationship with her, Samira couldn’t sit idly by and say nothing.
I don’t want you to go through with this because of what happened
When a reply bubble didn’t pop up on the screen, she turned to Taylor. She wasn’t sure what Hugo was about to say, but she suddenly realized whatever it was, she didn’t want it to interfere with what she and Taylor could have.
Cupping his cheek, she guided his face to hers. She gently bumped her nose against his and placed a soft kiss to his lips.
“In the short time I’ve known Hugo, I’ve come to care about him very much. I don’t want him to go through with this wedding if it’s not gonna make him truly happy. There’s a part of me that still cares for him as more than a friend; I can’t just turn that off, but the more I think about it, the more I think he and I weren’t meant to be.” Caressing his cheek with her thumb, she said, “Yes. I am interested in seeing where things could go between us, but first—”
She checked her phone. Hugo had replied: It’s all good. Sally and I talked and we’re going through with it
She showed Taylor the message, and they both sighed.
Another message came through: We think the whole fake dating thing got to us
Oh . . .
Yeah. But are you okay after everything that went down?
She smiled at Taylor, who was reading the exchange over her shoulder.
Yeah. I am. Thanks for asking.
Of course :) So I’ll see you later?
Wouldn’t miss it.
Great! See you there!
Dropping her phone back into her pocket, she said, “I guess we have a wedding to attend.”
“I guess we do.” Taylor stood and held out his hand. “Let me walk you home.”
